I have this for 2 days now. I read the other reviews, yes the device is more dark pink then red but the sound is great. My husband can't tell I'm talking on a bluetooth device. Great vehicle power cable. The 90 degree front facing plug-in allow the cable to be used in the Garmin Marine Mount. If you have that mount, it makes perfect sense. I use this with my Oregon 400t with LakeMaster Lake Maps installed on it. I have the Garmin Marine Mount on my fishing boat and use the power cable to plug the Oregon into an auxilary power plug in my boat. When combined with the aforementioned, it turns my Oregon 400t into a great GPS for fishing and marine use. Tested under field condtions and works flawlessly. I'd highly recommend this power cable! After I bought this I noticed there were identical cables at Best Buy for alot cheaper prices. It works but I'd advise looking around as this is a utilitarian common device that doesn't require name brand or special quality. This is a must have, unless you want to keep feeding your Garmin GPS batteries. The vehicle power cable works great and saves the NiMH batteries from discharging while the Oregon is plugged in. I really like that the plug has a red light on it that clearly indicates that the unit is getting power. The price was great for genuine Garmin. Delivery was just as promised. I would definitely order from this supplier again in the future.Friday, March 14, 2014

I ordered this remote to replace the one that I currently have for my wheelchair accessible van. It is to open and close the wheelchair ramp. I did not realize that it would not come with instructions on how to program it for the wheelchair ramp. I still have not been able to program it and am still having to use the old one which only works occasionally. Very frustrating to say the least. I admit that I did have a tough time installing the device at first. Had to look up where my "valet button" was on my car (under the dash below my steering wheel) and also have to run my vehicle (as opposed to just turning the key to the "on" position). Once I had those little details down, installation was a snap! Works exactly the way I expected.Thursday, February 20, 2014

Wolo Model 330 Oooga Sound Fun 12 Volt Horn - Pack of 1
I remembered about calculating current / wattage so did a search engine check to make sure of the formula's. Using my laptop, I calculated my needs with simple arithmetic using the 'knowns' and solving for the unknown, much easier than it sounds. I used kkrome's 2.0 ohm suggestion and factored it in which helped me come up with the amount of wattage my resistor needed. I went to Radio shack and for 1.99, I got a two pack of 1.0 ohm resistors. The highest wattage they had was only had 1.0 ohm / 10 watt (wattage is the amount of heat it can give off). I calculated that I needed more wattage but that was all they had in stock.
Not to be deterred, I got to thinking that since I am not hooking mine up to be a full time horn for actual emergencies, as in, NOT hooked up to my steering wheel's horn, (This means using a separate dedicated button to press for the ooga). My ooga is only for amusement, so my horn would never be used long and continuously which would mean that the 1.0 ohm / 10 watt would not overheat and fail. If it does, so what? It's only 1 dollar. (got a two pack remember?)
In less than 5 minutes, I cut the 12 volt hot wire going directly to the back of the ooga and soldered in the 1.0 ohm/10 watt resistor. I tried my horn and could tell the resistor was doing its job so I then adjusted the horn. With a tiny tweak of the adjustment screw on the back, it came to life with a more authentic sound. It has the low growling sound and actually sounds "AH-OOO-GAH". I stopped with just putting in only one 1.0 ohm and did not use kkrome's 1.75 to 2.0 ohm resistor suggestion. So before you go to putting in the full 2.0 ohm's, start with just 1.0 ohm and move up in ohms if needed.
I mounted my horn on the left hand side near the fire wall in front of the driver, well away from splashes and such. I am driving a Dodge 1 ton.
If you're looking at this ooga, then you must be a tinkerer unless you were going to pay someone to put it in to begin with. This is an easy project. FWIW, Do yourself a favor, put it somewhere on top so you can get to it easily. My location doesn't require me to get greasy because it's all right there.
I gave this horn 3 stars because you must do some tinkering to get it to sound right.
Buy Wolo Model 330 Oooga Sound Fun 12 Volt Horn - Pack of 1 Now
I do agree with Kkrome's very interesting review that the sound you most often get from this horn jumps up to pitch too fast. I found, with a little practice, that a relatively quick push worked better, didn't seem to get underway quite as easily. Of course the antique horns did the proper "ah-OOOO-gah" every time. I've had these put on two cars. (I'm no mechanic! I have Ziebart's guys do it.) The last time, it was put dead center behind the grill (in front of the radiator. My LAND is it loud when it is prominently placed like that. If you're wanting to use is as more of a "friendly greeting," I'd have it put off to the side or farther back. These aren't the most durable horns in the world. I had one on my 2005 (Toyota Avalon people are VERY surprised to hear that sound coming from that car!), and after a year or two, the relay failed and needed to be replaced. Later, I had to replace the entire horn. I traded to a newer Avalon (left the horns on the other car) and got another in 2010. That one lasted all of 14 months before it rusted up and failed. I suspect its prominent location may have contributed to that, and would suggest placeing it where it's less exposed to moisture. In search of a more authentic sound, I replaced the failed one with a FIAMM ooga horn. That's been in only a couple of weeks, but for the record, the Wolo one sounds better. (Time will tell if it lasts any longer.) If the FIAMM lasts, great. If it conks out, I'll either check out another brand, or go back to Wolo.Read Best Reviews of Wolo Model 330 Oooga Sound Fun 12 Volt Horn - Pack of 1 Here
I had a aoohgaa horn about 25 years ago, i thought this one would be simular but the sound produced is a more high pitched and not giving the same effect. This horn is about half the size of the original horn i had and i would say 1/4 the sound quality.Want Wolo Model 330 Oooga Sound Fun 12 Volt Horn - Pack of 1 Discount?

ReVIVE Solar ReStore XL 4000mAh Solar Charger Power Bank & USB Rechargeable External Battery Travel
With iPhone:
I get around 3 charges to my iPhone when this battery is at 100%. Usually I get it to 100% using the USB cable, but when I'm not next to power, or if I'm feeling environmental, I charge in the sun. It's practical to get a full iPhone charge after leaving in the sun for about 5 hours.
Solar Charging: I've used this on the dashboard, at the beach and at Coachella 2012!!!!! All instances had mixed results. I found that having this on my blanket at the beach for around 4 hours got two bars, which ended up giving me about 90% boost to my iPhone 4 and then some. On my dashboard it gets to 4 bars if I leave it there for 2 days, but I don't usually do that. It seems like the dashboard ALMOST fully charges it, but I can tell its probably actually at about 90% full at about 10+ hours of dahsboard time. At Coachella I had this thing on the carabiner on my backpack and was moving around all day. It gave me about 60% charge to my iPhone when I needed it(at nigth). I think I was in the sun for about 5-6 hours, but moving around a lot.
With Galaxy Tab 10.1: It give around 40% charge to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 which I've used on the airplane for back up power. I charge the tab with POWER OFF so it can give more juice. 40% to the tab is a few hours of extra video/games/etc, so its definitely cool for a boost.
Using USB charging: If you connect it to your computer, it seems like 6 hours is the right amount of time to get 4 bars full. I've used it with my iPhone charger too, and it seemed like 4-5 hours. Either way, just check the status using the big button.
Flashlight: I haven't needed this BUT ONCE. I was checking my oil at night and had this handy. One REALLY COOL thing was that the battery was at 0%. No reaction to pressing the flashlight. THEN, I left it in sunlight for literally 1 minute to see if the light got any power. Sure enough the LED flashlight lit up for about 30 seconds before dimming. I think LED lights are low power, but WOW thats a pretty fast charge. More of justa fun experiment for my use, but it could be cool for camping(says 36 hours of light off a full charge/not tested by me)
Sum it all up:
Sorry if my review was all over the place, but I hope some of this helps. I've used this thing to give boosts to my friends' phones and their immediate reaction was that this is a cool gadget. Also, I got some intriguing glances at the beach and security line at Coachella. It's definitely an eye catcher, but best of all it comes through for me when i need it. I ahve to be honest, I use it most by charging it by USB, then carrying it for power to use later, but having the option of solar is great AND it works. It feels nice, looks nice, works nice, price is good, accessories like the suction cups and carabiner are cool. All in all, nice product. Let's see how long it lasts...I was looking for a solar recharger for long bike rides and hiking/camping/mountaineering etc. This works great! When I got it, I fully charged it using USB as recommended, and then tried to fully drain it. I charged my phone, iPod, and finally had to hook up my MotoACTV and let it run with Bluetooth and GPS enabled. Amazing capacity on this thing!
It is a bit difficult to actually fully charge this thing on solar alone, but it does well enough to charge up my phone and MotoACTV at the end of the day. The included locking biner is a nice touch. It isn't climbing spec, but it is a lot lighter than a climbing locker.
And a note on customer serviceThis comes with a protective film on the panel. I went to take it off, and the top was actually tucked under the case. I thought maybe it was supposed to be permanent and I screwed up trying to remove it, so I emailed support. I had a response in minutes. I wrote later asking about additional panels, and again, a response in minutes.
Final noteit comes with a part for hooking up additional panels, and the manual states you can buy additional panels, but they don't actually make the panels yet (as of 6/13/12).This product is fantastic. I purchased it for the purpose of keeping my Droid phone charged during airshows. I kept it pointed towards the sun whenever possible (even works when cloudy). It charges the phone faster than using a car charger. I will probably purchase another one for my airshow companion.Alright, let's get what you're thinking out of the way first: you think this thing looks flimsy and will break the first chance it gets, or it won't work period. Wrong.
That's what I though after taking it out of the box. Its a light unit, it does not feel like there is a battery/electronics in there at all. But this thing works beautifully! Some of the reviews mention that it takes hours for the unit to solar charge, and that it might melt if you leave it on your dashboard in the sun. Not true. I live in Georgia. The summers here are HOT. Getting in your car after leaving it in the July sun is like climbing into your oven at home. On a recent day trip I left the charger on my car's dashboard in the July sun, and it had charged to full during the two hours I was gone from my car. And it did not melt into my dashboard.
On another day trip my Droid Razr was dying (poor battery life is the norm for that phone), and I simply pulled the charger from my pack, plugged in my Micro USB cable, and put the battery unit in the pocket of my shorts along with my phone. It didn't feel clunky or anything, and it charged my phone. What more can you ask for?
This is a great charger for the money, especially when you compare it to other solar batteries like the GoalZero ones. I'm sure they work just as well, but IMO they are way too expensive for what they do.
Some other little tidbits I'll offer:
-I've charged this unit by plugging the special (included) USB cable into a Kindle power Adapter and one of the mini Apple power adapters, and both charged it perfectly.
-Its small, so it fits in a backpack, purse, or pocket really easily.
-I have not tried this yet, but you can add additional solar panels to improve the battery's charge time when charging from the sun. Out of the box the battery comes with a hook dealie you attach to the side, then attach to the extra solar panel.
-The case itsself is made of a good, solid plastic which can take some abuse. I would try to keep the solar panel away from any situations which could damage it, but it should be okay handling day-to-day usage (i.e. keeping it in a cluttered bag with all kind of pointy things).UPDATED AFTER A MONTH OF USAGE!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have purchased both this AND the Opteka BP-SC4000 Ultra Thin Solar Powered High Capacity (4000mAh) Backup Battery and Charger for Cell Phones, iPhone, iPod, and Most USB Powered Devices
I am in the process of returning the Opteka since I either received a defective unit or the product just simply does not work. The Opteka did NOT charge my phone for longer than 10 seconds even after it is fully charged by USB.
The ReVIVE XL is more expensive but so far it's worked as advertised. It is a pretty big unit, pretty sure it will be bigger than most cellphones right now. However, it feels pretty solid and looks like a more than decent quality product.
I have charged it by plugging it into my AC adapter and by solar energy. Obviously, solar energy takes a much longer time to charge but that is to be expected. The ReVIVE even charges in indirect sunlight but not as quickly.
This charger charges my Droid Bionic, which is using a 1735 mAh battery, from 0% to 100% in about an hour and 40 minutes. It comes out to be a very convenient number since this means that it's charging about 1% every minute. This also means that it charges about 17.35 mAh per minute. If you want to find out how long it takes to charge your device from 0%, just divide your current device's mAh by 17.35 and you should have a very decent estimate, in terms of minutes, on how long it should take for this charger to charge your device from 0%.
Overall, it is a 5 star product for its price, I find the product useful and I am very pleased with the purchase. Be advised that charging it by solar power can be a very lengthy process.
NOTE that the ReVIVE can NOT charge itself while charging other devices at the same time.
UPDATE!
---------------
After about a month of using this product, I can say that it still works and functions as if it was brand new! I am very impressed with the quality of this product. The amount of charge still seems to be identical as to when the device was brand new.
I actually use it every single day for many, many different purposes. I charge my cell phone with it, I charge my wireless headset with it, I charge my lighter with it (it's one of those electronic, flameless lighter), I charge my mp3 player with it, I charge my flashlight with it, I even plug my USB desktop lamp into it while doing my work at night! I'm probably forgetting a few other things but pretty much anything that has a USB port and requires charging or power through a USB can be used with this device.
I have recommended this product to several people and they are all happy with theirs as well.

I ordered this along with my Garmin nuvi 765t and it never worked.Thankfully, Amazon did it's usual superb job of replacing it with just a few mouse clicks.
When the replacement arrived it was of a much simpler design and worked just fine.
Detail:
The original version I got had a slot in the back of the plug-in unit into which various plugs could be inserted to adapt it for the appropriate country/voltage/etc. My guess is that the connection between the adapter and the unit were not good and so it just didn't work.
The replacement unit which I received was made with the North American prongs already built in and no adapter was necessary for use here. The unit was packaged with adapters for UK and European use if needed. The just plug onto the NA prongs.
If you order this, see if you can determine which type will be sent to you or if you get the older-style version try to exchange it.

Husky Liners Classic Style Custom Fit Molded Front Floor Liner for Select Ford F-250/F-350 Models (
I have Husky liners in my two other cars and they are all a perfect fit and I'm extremely happy with them.
I was expecting same this time, but I was wrong. Either Ford has changed something in this 2012 model, or the King Ranch has always been slightly different than other pickups (the liner description online says F250). Anyway, beware if you're trying to get it for this model.
Thanks to Amazon return policy, I will get a full return but still no liners.
BJGot these to protect the carpet in my new F250. As volunteers with Campers on Mission, we do construction on churches, campgrounds etc., so we often find ourselves where it is muddy. These really work great because the carpet is totally covered.

Schumacher PST-100 DSR ProSeries Speed Test Battery Analyzer
The battery clamps make great contact on top-terminal batteries, but it's tough to get a solid bite with them on side terminals, such as those used by GM. Also, the cables are a bit short. Not a big deal, but I felt compelled to deduct one star for these minor annoyances.
Schumacher is a solid company that has been around for decades, and their products hold up well. I'm still using the same Schumacher battery charger that I bought 30 years ago.
CheersI love it. This is a creative solution for a an old dirty problem. Old equipment use plain high power resistors to measure CCA. It use to depend on difficult to achieve good contact, high current and associated problems. This as other similar products use a clean low power solution to solve the same problem. There must be a lot of software embedded in this product. Congratulation to the designer.
