HELLA 5750941 500FF Series 12-Volt/55-Watt Halogen Driving Lamp Kit (Fun Cubed)
Install was typical no easier or harder than installing any other brand.
Light output with 55 watt bulbs is EXCELLENT with a TIGHT, LONG RANGE BEAM. Not quite as focused as the KCs but there isn't much in it -and the light output seems as bright as the KCs with 100 watt bulbs.
Because the housing is plastic I have not run the Hella's with 100 watt or 130 watt bulbs, I may give it a try during the winter.
For me the wiring harness was a little light -especially since I commonly use 100 watts bulbs, but so long as you use a relay to switch the lights and keep the runs short it will be more than adequate but I'm an "overkill" type when it comes to wiring so I replaced the harnesses with #12 Tefzel (aircraft) wire for each light and everything is relay switched with very short cable runs.
I would certainly buy them again and will probably replace the KCs with the Hellas next time a rock takes them out. The Hella kit with two lights cost less than one replacement lens for the KC
Summary Excellent lighting, fair quality construction, great value for money.I bought these to replace the factory fog lamps on my wifes 2004 Subaru Forester, which were trashed from 130K of hard use. Had to do some "creative engineering" to get them to fit into the holes in the front bumper but they came out great! The wiring instructions are a little bit hard to follow and mt lights didn't include them in the package (downloaded the PDF ) Once I puzzled them out the wiring harness is well thought out and made installing the light pretty bomb-proof. I highly recommend these for daily, on-road use.

Ok, the 500FF driving lights are a good design in how it projects the light in front of the vehicle. I have been driving with Hellas in both my cars and 4x4s since 1985. They make damn good driving lights both on and off-road. I say that the 500s in stock form do a nice job in the city. However, if you do any off-roading and these are the only auxilary lights you have then I would recommend upgrading the bulbs to a 100W or 130W. Of course the modification will make them unusable in city driving.Personally I have adopted these as fog lights with crystal ion fog bulbs from PIAA. The PIAA bulbs and Hella 500s are a perfect match and work great in snow and dense fog. I don't like the conventional fog lights because the light pattern spreads too much light above the hood which is not needed.
I have a FJ Cruiser with a grill guard where these puppies are mounted on the lower crossmember close to the ground. This is the best place for them. However, the pair of 500s are not enough to illuminate the back roads of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I drive at night. If you want to get excellent illumination I HIGHLY recommend the Hella Rallye 4000s with the Hella 130W optional bulbs. I have these mounted above the 500s on the top crossmember of the brush guard (same height as the factory headlights) . When you turn the 4000s on at night I will guarantee you that you will see EVERYTHING in front of the vehicle to 1/2 mile!I recently installed these on the grill guard on my '99 Suburban, and they are awesome. This mounting puts them a bit above the bumper and in the center of the truck, right in front of the grill. From this vantage point, they have a great beam pattern, with a very long tube of light that extends a long way down the road, which still having a good sturdy mount with an unobstructed view of the road, while still being somewhat protected by the grill guard assembly. They throw light a very long distance and wide enough to cover the road "down range", which is exactly what driving lights are supposed to do.
Take the time to adjust the aim properly and make sure you have a sturdy mount. Any shaking is very apparent when the light is illuminating the road 1/2+ mile away. As for aim, when using driving lights, the goal is to get the light down-range and not right in front of you. Your eyes will adjust so you can see items further out, and any bright spots on the pavement right in front of you will can become very distracting and hinder your long-range visibility. Some folks perceive this as the area immediately in front of the vehicle as being "too dark" and try to aim the lamps lower to compensate. Don't do this. Get the adjustment right so that light goes down range without illuminating the sky instead of the road. These lights are supposed to be used when you are on high beams, not for normal around town driving, so adjust them as such. I have these wired to come on with my high beams, and they work great that way. It does however, mean that the person who cuts me off and get high-beamed is in for a shock I might give the back of their head a suntan. :-)
Be prepared for any reflective signage to be very bright when these lights are on, especially signs that are normally out of the range of your normal headlights. These lights are bright enough to really catch the reflective coatings on road signs and the signs will at first appear unnaturally bright. This is goodness because it lets you see signs very far in advance of what you normally can, but depending on the roads you drive and your specific vehicle mounting, there may be a few signs you find that are capable of reflecting a lot of light back at you, especially the yellow diamond signs found on lots of secondary roads. This is nothing wrong with the driving lights, just something I was not quite prepared for when upgrading the very low-output factory lighting on my '99 Suburban...
I used my own custom switch, relay, and wiring setup, so I can't comment on the wiring kit that comes with these lights. It looks like a reasonable wiring setup and has good instructions if you are used to doing any wiring. I just wanted a more custom install on my rig with switches that were better integrated into my dashboard and to use a custom wiring harness to drive all of my improved lighting (fog lights, driving lights, relay kit on factory headlamps, and extra back-up lights) without having a mess of wiring all over the place. For just adding one set of lights, the wiring kit that comes with these lights should be just fine.

With the stock 55W bulb, the light is a bit dim, however they are cheap, seem well constructed and serve their purpose. Im planning in changing the bulbs to 100W, i've seen some and are way brighter.Sunday, September 14, 2014

This would certainly appear to be the original factory remote. It has the proper numbers on the back, and looks just like the factory original. It programmed up just like it should have (which is so easy to do on these trucks), and works perfectly. There's really not much more to say other than I'm glad I bought here and saved a ton of money over the dealer!Want Factory Gm Key Fob Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade 15913427 Discount?
Don't be lied to. These are the exact same key-less fobs that you can get at the dealer at a fraction of the price. I ordered mine and it arrived very quickly. I used the three steps it takes to program it to my 2008 Tahoe and whoola! I now have a second key-less entry FOB. Many websites and mechanics will lead you to believe this is a dealer part since the "Dealer" has to program it. This is NOT TRUE. This item works great and has the GM part number stamped right on it. Matched my OEM dealer FOB that I already had.Thursday, August 28, 2014

Yeah its form isn't the best, and it doesn't blend beautifully with my iPhone but it does what it is supposed to do. It lets me listen to Pandora, or my music in my car.
BTW, I have no affiliation with this company, it took me a lot of trips to and from Target, Best Buy, and the Apple store returning bad products to find this device. Just trying to save people the frustration.Bought this item because of it low price. I have purchased similar items at a much higher price with disappointing results. This transmitter works better than others 2-3x the price. Iv been using it with an iPhone and really like the low profile design, no wires or pieces hanging off it. It does pop up the little "not iPhone compatible" message but causes no interference, even when iPhone is kept out of airplane mode. The signal is strong enough to overpower weak FM signals and works well in metro areas with high FM traffic as well as the mountains and rural areas. A really great value!!This is a great product that interfaces beautifully with my iPhone and car steroe. I use it primarily to play podcasts through my car stereo. I also use it at the gym to watch video podcasts while wearing standard FM radio headphones, and no longer have to worry about yanking on my earbud cord and knocking my iPhone to the floor. The sound is remarkably clean and clear, but sometimes I will get some static, necessitating that I change the frequency (easily done with the up and down arrows)to find a frequency that has no weak station broadcasting on it; this usually clears up the sound. The transmitter draws power from the iPhone and comes with a cigarette lighter adapter for long trips. In summary, a great product, sleek, well-designed, and at an affordable price.I bought this unit, and it does EXACTLY what it should. I have a 2001 Toyota that has no "line-in" on the stereo. So with my new iPhone 3G, my options were limited. I plugged this thing in and set the station and it worked immediately. There is a small amount of static between songs, but i've found that ALL of these transmitters do that. When the music is playing the sound quality is very good (better than radio, not as good as CD's) keeping in mind that iTunes sound is far from CD quality. Further, it responds to your changes with the EQ settings, both on the iPhone and on the stereo itself.
I would, however recommend that you "level" your music on your iTunes (if you haven't already) so that all songs will play at the same volume. If you don't there can be some volume "surprises".
For the price, this unit is Fantastic. There are some that will find fault with it i'm sure. But those people aren't usually happy with anything in their lives anyway.

Tripp Lite APS2424 Inverter / Charger 2400W 24V DC to 120V AC 14A / 55A Hardwire
I had been considering installing this unit in our Wood-Fired Pizza Truck (BasicKneadsPizza.com). We had purchased a nice generator, but after installing one on another truck, I wasn't blown away, even the quiestest Honda 3000 still stinks like a traffic jam.
James from Tripp-Lite's technical support line picked up quickly and gave me a free refresher course on physics; 36v input means 3 batteries in series, 24v=2 batteries. To double the capacity, a second bank in parallel would cost ~1/3 less with the 24v APS2424.
Not to mention the Auto-Transfer switch, and load sensor, this unit is basically going to be my prep table's personal assistant.
Our truck is going to rock this unit and two batteries in series. I am going to return an $80 transfer switch, sell a Parallax converter/charger for $100 and a Honda Eu3000is for $1200.
Generator system= ~$1600, noisy, stinky, needs gas and oil changes, huge amount of work to install.
Inverter system= ~$850, silent, maintenence free.
Sold.I purchased this inverter for loads that have heavy inductive startup motors. Refrigerator, well pump, etc which are powered off my solar battery system. Works perfectly where an Aims 5000 watt unit failed repeatedly. Handles startup currents from inductive loads perfectly as long as you are in the rated overload capacity. Workmanship is excellent. Instructions are detailed. Well worth the extra cost in quality and ruggedness. Very happy with unit.

This was an easy install, plenty of power and good assortment of options.I chose the 24V unit to lower the current draw requirement on the batteries.
With a couple of good AGM batteries it's a sweet backup for lights and most consumer electronics.
I connected the unit to a External Generator panel on my house for emergency backup power since power outages lasting more than 5 hours are extremely rare. (We are near a substation.)
My only complaint is not about the unit, it is about the documentation.
PWM Sine Wave does not describe the output wave form properly for most people. Searching for PWM Sine Wave often yields Pulse With Modulation generated Sine Wave which is a common way to produce "Pure Sine Wave". Searching for the definition of PWM Sine Wave yielded anything but the type of wave form this product produces.
The output of this Inverter is a "Modified Square Wave" in that it has a very short rise and fall time that approximates an alternating current and is compatible with most household electronics. There are advantages to this waveform, first and foremost the output is simple to generate so the product will be very reliable/rugged. Apparently there has been a shift in terminology over the years to "Pure Sine Wave" as apposed to just plain "Sine Wave", even "Modified Sine Wave" most of us knew was a square wave.
My only issue is that I have a medical device that needs to have "Pure Sine Wave" to properly drive the heater in the device. SCR controllers (AKA Dimmers) have a hard time with square waves and the output is unpredictable. If I had known it was not a "Pure Sine Wave" I would not have purchased this product.
No, I am not going to return it. I'll use it as a backup to the much more troublesome sine wave unit that I only need for my refrigerator and medical device.I just bought this to replace a POS made by Power bright. This thing is three times the size, yet the same power output. It make a humming noise when on. But thats all I can say so far as the bad. The great part, it is built like a tank...made to last. It works great. I run my barn lights, my well pump, and some times a fan. All work well with this unit.

I'm using this with a Black & Decker battery maintainer.I store my collector cars during the winter and I got sick of having to charge or jump them every year. Not to mention replacing the batteries more frequently. I initially bought a style of maintainer that sat up against the battery, had short direct connections which also meant cords between the car and the wall.
Then I bought the Black & Decker maintainers. But, wouldn't you know it the leads were decent in length, but still bridging the gap between car and wall.
Then I found these extensions. Now I got the maintainers mounted on the wall, the lead and extension going up and over a truss and down to the car hood. Cool.

Directed Electronics 7752V Replacement Transmitter Supercode Remote
I started to use the second key that is only a one way, but the way that one is built is that if you put it in your pocket with anything then you might come back to a car that's running that you didn't want to be running and you won't even know for how long. (Yes, I am speaking from experience)
I gave this 3 starts not because it doesn't work right (the guy at best buy didn't do his job right I know), but because they need to make this side buttons able to be used and not sucked all the way into the housing.Function is good but needs to be made water proof/

Optima 8014-045-FFP YellowTop Group 34/78 Deep Cycle Battery
So be aware the the money you are thinking you are saving maybe costing you big time. You should also know that for marine batteries Otima is strongly reccomending the use of there $200 charger to keep them charged properly.
Hello John,
Amazon.com is not an authorize online OPTIMA retailer, We do not know where they acquire the OPTIMA batteries nor does Amazon.com honor the OPTIMA warranty.I've owned 80-100 yellow tops, I put them in everything I own. They used to be good when they were made in Colorado, when they switched manufacturing to Johnson Controls in Mexico they changed the construction and they keep cracking. I've had a dozen crack a cylinder. These are complete crap now.
Buy Optima 8014-045-FFP YellowTop Group 34/78 Deep Cycle Battery Now
Some background: I'm a mechanical engineer and I've built and worked on at least half a dozen powerchairs used for a competitive indoor sport, power soccer. I've used a data logger to look at battery voltage under load, and I've compared MK gel batteries, Optima Yellowtops (from a local distributor), and Odyssey PC1500s. I have also seen other people using Interstate AGMs, and other "deep cycle" batteries for the same application, and have seen the trouble they've had with them.Compared to gel batteries, the Yellowtops provide a lot of power, and feel more "peppy" regardless of if they're full or nearly empty. This is a big "pro" for people who need their chairs to perform at their full potential, but potentially a "con" if you don't pay attention to how discharged the batteries are, since they hold up well enough that you can run them down to a really deep discharge and prematurely shorten their life. I found that if you're not careful, don't take any precautions to keep them fully charged, and use them hard, you can kill them in six months.
These batteries can easily charge at 20 amps and higher, similar to the Odysseys, and better than any gels. If you keep them topped up and charge them above 28.8 volts (14.4 each, two in series) whenever you use them, and don't run them down till the chair slows down, you can get well over a year of power soccer use out of them.
They are a little smaller than other batteries, both mechanically and in terms of stored energy. They rattle around inside a Group 24 battery box, which can be a little disturbing, and they don't last as long on a charge as a set of Odyssey PC1500. They also don't hold up for as many cycles under the same use as the PC1500 because you're using a larger portion of their capacity, and lead batteries don't hold up well under that treatment.
In summary: If you're on a tight budget but want something better than gels, if these are on sale then the Yellowtops are what you want. If you really need the best, step up to the Odyssey PC1500. Also, don't forget to use a proper three stage charger that terminates the CV portion above 14.4 volts and below 14.8 volts.
Sales people will tell you "Yellowtops aren't for wheelchairs" or "Odyssey batteries aren't for wheelchairs", but that's BS. Pay attention to charging, don't trust the joystick lights, and these things are fabulous for high performance chairs.

I bought this battery through Autozone (that way I wouldn't have to worry about any type of weird warranty exchange through amazon). Eventhough i love amazon, i HIGHLY encourage buying this battery through an approved seller, that way, if your battery needs warranty exchange, you can just drop off and replace easy. You can get this battery IF:
-You're going to use this on a vehicle which requires power to start (any auto)
-You may have sources of accessory power that have potential to drain the battery (light use power inverter)
You SHOULD get this battery IF:
-You HAVE sources that can draw lots of accessory power:
--Subwoofer/amp
--Ambient lighting
--Added lighting
--high use power inverter
--Lots of off-roading (vibration is VERY bad for an acid battery)
Conditions that required myself to buy this battery:
-HID lighing
-Complete interior with LED lighting
-Added ambient lighting
-Added door lighting (2005 Ford F150)
-1000W Amp/Sub
First thoughts:
After install, the first start takes a few seconds longer than any start I've had with preceding batteries. Of course, I had a lower CWA than the previous batteries, so that was probably it. After the first start and all the parts had power again, every start was clean, perfect and, dare I say, better than previous batteries.
The drain on my battery from peripherals (with the vehicle not on) is CONSIDERABLY less than previous batteries. I have no tested, nor want to test a heavy drain on the battery, but, since this battery can actually handle the drain without damage.
So far the battery is superb, and offers a lot of power to my accessories. Previously, when the sub hit hard (I have no capacitor, too lazy) the lighting would slightly dim. NO MORE! Very excited.
I'll keep this review updated periodically with any news on the performance of this battery!

Optima were an excellent battery in the 1990's and early 2000's. The batteries they built and sold in that era would easily last ten years. But in the last eight or nine years, they have lowered the quality level in their batteries to the point that they barely make it past the warranty period. I am now stuck with two gel-cel boat anchors, which died six weeks after the warranty period. That is almost $400. Both were lightly used in race cars that saw the track 12 times per year. That is 36 Sundays of use for each battery. And to top it all off, I now must pay hazardous recycling fees to get rid of these boat anchors. I will not be buying Optima brand products again.Thursday, August 8, 2013
