HQRP Solar Charging KIT: 50W 12V Monocrystalline Solar Panel in Solid Aluminium Frame plus 10A Sola
The kit should have come with instructions to assemble the pieces together.
The MC4 cables ARE NOT INCLUDED! Out of the box, this kit is USELESS! I had to order the cables separately with no clue of which type of cable to buy. I took a big guess based on Amazon pictures.
Overall, the products are quality, but do your research and buy the parts individually.

Schumacher IP-1875C Instant Power with Air Compressor
I would recommend it.This combination air compressor/12vdc battery back-up has been in my possession for about one month and has not only successfully pumped up two half-flat auto tires, but seems to have accepted a fairly deep charge via a 120vac extension cord after each use. (I haven't tried recharging the internal battery from an auto battery yet.) Since this doesn't represent a very long-term or comprehensive review, I can only add that the air compressor seems robust if slow; a 10psi increase in tire pressure requiring about 2 minutes. The indicator lights, utility light, and psi guage all seem well-made, and the latter shows the actual pressure while operating, unlike cheaper gauges that only stabilize after shutting off the compressor. My only other concern/comment is that the battery cable clamps are always exposed, one on each side of the unit, and it would be possible to complete the circuit inadvertently if the unit fell into a puddle or was stored haphazardly around wire, since the cable/battery disconnect switch doesn't seem to work and the cables are, therefore, always "live". I'm not sure if this is a serious health hazard, but it certainly increases the chance for a destructive short-circuit and I'd recommend checking the function of your disconnect switch before leaving the unit exposed around children.

I spent a long time researching battery chargers, especially because I was planning to give as a gift. I chose this charger/air compressor/power source because it has some very important features. First, it has a VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY feature which most of the other chargers/starters didn't seem to have: IT HAS A DIAL WHICH ENABLES YOU TO TURN THE UNIT OFF. This is really important when you're attaching the cables! If your charger/starter is live during that stage and the cables accidentally touch each other or something else that causes a spark, your car battery could blow up! I don't know why that's not a required safety feature on all starters/chargers. It also has an alarm, in case you hook the cables up improperly. Second, when you plug the unit into your wall outlet to charge it, IT WON'T OVERCHARGE. That's another feature that's not very common. You will need an extension cord, though. It doesn't come with one...most of them don't anymore. I think they should. The air compressor is a nice feature; you can use it to keep your tires properly filled or in case of an emergency, obviously. I found it to be a little heavy, but it's actually one of the lighter ones (especially if you want an air compressor). The recipient didn't have a problem with the weight. Personally, I wish they would make all of them much lighter and with the features I listed above. It also has a light, the charge indicator and off dial work. It was charged ( a couple of weeks ago) and it's still charged. Everything seems to be working, it arrived in perfect condition. The recipient hasn't needed to jump start a car, YET. If there are any problems with it, I'll re-post immediately. I just couldn't wait to review it, because I wanted people to know about all of the great features and the perfect condition it was in upon arrival. I think it was money well spent and I would definitely recommend it. I hope this review helps anybody who's not sure about what features they might want in a car charger/starter.Read Best Reviews of Schumacher IP-1875C Instant Power with Air Compressor Here
I choose the Schumacher compressor package for it's price and features. I've been really surprised how much I have used it. It so handy that it allows me to better keep up with the tire pressure on my cars and I have used the jump start feature to get my neighbors car going and a car that was on a bridge where we couldn't turn around to use regular jumper cables. The compressor is a bit slow but it doesn't give up, even on SUV tires. One thing to note, the on board pressure gauge is not accurate at all (almost gave 4 stars for that but it has been to handy not to give it 5 stars).Want Schumacher IP-1875C Instant Power with Air Compressor Discount?
Very reliable and convenient charger. We kept this baby in the back of our SUV for months. About a month ago, we finally had a reason to put it to good use when the truck battery went dead. The unit was all set and fully charged when we first took it out of the box and was still fully charged when we needed it. We hooked the cables up to the battery, went to start up the truck and it instantly started up. We have also used the air compressor for our tires many times and it works well. It takes about 2-3 minutes to pump a tire up from 24-36psi. Not too bad for a compact charger. Very happy with this purchase.Wednesday, July 30, 2014
Promotion TaoTronics TT-CM001 USB Portable Tape Cassette To MP3 Converter Tape-to-MP3 Capture Adapt
- Plug and play USB device convert your old mix tapes and cassette to MP3 to Playback on iPod / MP3 player or burn to CD.
- Flexible battery or USB-powered operation.Comes with tape converter software to guide you through transfer.
- Portable design fits in virtually any bag and enables you to play and transfer anywhere.Audio editing software included.
- Audio output enables you to listen on your stereo, headphones, or other speaker system.
- Features Auto Reverse.Rediscover your old cassette tapes on the go.
Once you have the setup done, just pop in a tape, start audacity, hit RECORD on audacity, and then PLAY on the unit. The tape will play at the usual speed, this is not a high-speed dubbing unit. Note that audacity will save the file in its own format, but you can then go in and select sections and export them in MP3 format.
HOW TO DO IT
If you have a Windows 7 PC, go to Audacity's website and download the Win7 version, and install it BEFORE you plug in the Taotronics unit.
Now plug in the TaoTronics unit. Skip Windows looking for an update to the driver.
After a pause, you should be informed that the unit is installed and ready for use. Subsequent uses on my Win7 PC did not acknowledge that the unit had been plugged in but it still worked.
Run Audacity. These are the settings that worked for me on a Windows 7 PC:
For sound level, you can either work with the microphone input level, or you can use the Volume wheel on the unit.
The unit will do an "auto reverse" which means it will play the entire cassette, sides 1 and 2, and then stop. It also has a setting that looks like it is for "endless play".
The player will stop at the end of the tape, but if you rewind/fast forward it appears to just wait for you to hit "stop" so I wouldn't do either of these and leave the room or you might stretch your tape.
Readers Digest walkthrough:
1. Install audacity.
2. Plug in the Taotronics unit.
3. Put the tape in the unit. If you haven't played it for a while, you might want to fast forward and then rewind to make sure the tape isn't wound too lose or too tight.
4. Hit the record button on audacity.
5. Hit the play button on the Taotronics.
6. Make sure you have the unit set to just play two sides. The player will stop at the end of the tape, but Audacity will keep recording so you have to stop Audacity yourself.
7. If you want MP3s, you will need to:
a. save the file as an audacity project
b. select sections of the project in audacity and "export" them in MP3 format. To do this you will need to download the Lame encoder and let Audacity know where that file is. I suggest you put it in the Audacity folder.
c. keep doing b until the end of the audacity project file.
UPDATE: Audacity will automatically export tracks for you!
Using audacity to automatically split and save your album tracks
Go to the beginning of your project and delete all but about 3 seconds of silence. Do the same at the end of the project and in the middle of the project (between the album "sides"). Don't delete it all, as audacity will be using the silences in your project to split the tracks. You will have to make sure of enough silence before the first track or it won't be recognized.
Select Analyze / Silence Finder. Accept the defaults and click OK. Audacity will now find the spaces between songs using the silence areas.
Audacity does a pretty good job of finding the spaces between tracks but it's not perfect, so you should take a look and make sure there aren't extra tracks were the silence between songs was too long. You can delete a label by editing its name and just backspacing until it disappears. NOTE: you will almost always get a label at the end of the project.
Now put in the names for the tracks in the label markers. Do this with Tracks / Edit Labels.
Now set up the MP3 tags for the files. This is how an MP3 player can show you the title, album, etc. when you play an MP3:
Go to Edit / Preferences and untick Show Metadata Editor Prior to Export Step.
Go to File / Open Metadata Editor and enter the performer name and album name.
Go to File / Export Multiple.
Set the format for your exported files (Mp3 usually). Audacity should remember this after the first time you do it.
Set the export location (audacity can create a folder if it doesn't already exist.)
Select "split files based on labels"
Select "numbering before label/track name" (to insert the track number so the files sort properly)
Select Export
Wait
Hope this helps everyone. Please consider doing a "how to" like this in your own product reviews!Summary: If you want a device that just provides the audio source and gets out of your way, this device is perfect. If you need things a little more automatic (to do the recording and noise reduction for you), it may be a little *too* basic for your needs.
There's not a lot to this device, which makes it incredibly simple to use. When I plugged it into my Windows 8 PC, it identified it as a "USB Microphone". All that's required to use it is the sound recording program of your choice. (The enclosed CD contains an older version of the program Audacity -a newer version is available from and is completely free to use.)
Because it's so simple and doesn't try to do anything "fancy", there are a few manual steps you will have to do yourself to get a good recording. The more difficult part was balancing the volume levels on the unit itself and the recording level on my PC, to get the maximum volume without distortion. Then, once the whole tape is recorded, you have to use your software's noise reduction feature to eliminate the tape hiss.
While I prefer a device to just do its basic functions, so it doesn't get in my way, novice users may find it difficult to do all of these steps manually.
The whole unit, from the mechanical latch to the buttons, feel like one of the more cheaply-made portable tape players I had back in the 1980s, but the unit has so far made it through my entire collection of Harry Potter books on tape and is working on the Lord of the Rings, and it hasn't faltered once.
As an added bonus, it has a standard headphone jack and a battery compartment, so it can be used as a standalone portable cassette player. (Batteries are *not* required when connected to the computer; it is fully powered by USB.)
Some negatives:
I have run into issues with insufficient shielding, where I hear the telltale signs of cellphone interference (whether that's from the player, the cable, or internal to my PC, I'm not sure). I have to unplug my USB mouse (which was connected into the USB port right next to the tape player) and keep my cell phone at least a few feet away when recording.
When recording audio books, I like to take the entire book and save it as a single file. Audacity does not do well with 8-hour or longer sound files -it sucks down disk space in its "temp" directory, and it slows down and eventually crashes before I can save the file. I instead use the program GoldWave (but again, since it's just a generic audio source, any program will do). Audacity *does* work just fine for a typical 2-hour cassette, and its noise reduction feature works just fine.Overall, this is a great product to save my old tapes (those were never released in digital format).
I am surprised with the recorded sound quality; the mp3 file (320kbps and changed other settings to best quality) sounds as good as the tape. If your audio tape has a lot of hiss, the recorded file will be a mirror image. I got this only for a day, so I have not played with other audio effects such as amplifer, noise reduction, echo, etc. I am not sure if these effects will yield better quality than the original tape, but I can accept if it is at least sound 100% like the tape, no less.
The CD came with this converter is useless for those who has Windows 7 (me included). ..Just google "audacity", download and install the file for Windows 7 OS. With this file compatible with Windows 7 OS, it will link you to the website where you can download codec for converting your sound "project" into mp3 format (the mp3 decoding is not built in).
Also, expect to play around a little bit to get any recordings...I first followed the instructions which told me about changing the drop down bar to "USB audio device"...that never showed up on my list...i had to spend sometime to get it to work because of the settings.First of all the instructions do not tell you that if you have Windows 7 you must upload Audicity from the Audacity.com website for the latest version. We found that idea on the Taotronics website. So after we finally did that, then next problem was getting it to realize that the tape player was connected to the usb port. Once we finally did that (by unplugging and replugging into the usb port several times and opening and closing the audacity program several times) then we started a recording. Well, about 5 minutes into the recording, all of a sudden, the Audacity program did not recognize the tape player. So, we went back and repeated the plugging in and unplugging, etc and finally got it to recognize it again. Then about 15 mins into the recording, all of a sudden Audacity did not recognize it again after it had already recorded about 15 mins of the tape and we restarted again. Well,,, by now you know the story. This piece of junk is going back to Amazon tomorrow!!
This thing most definitely needs a driver!!! Don't buy...piece of Junk!!!product started out great, i completed about 20 cassette and then it simply stopped working. the cassette player still works, but when i hook it up to the computer it squeels... the cable of connection is bad... i really looked forward to this and was enjoying it until it broke...

Buy Bell 22-1-39005-8 Triple Socket with Extension Cord Now
Based on the reviews I had read, I bought this "3 cigarette lighter" outlet expander for myself.I have to say this is one of the most practical purchases I've ever made.
It is great if you're traveling/road tripping and you and your passenger BOTH want to charge your phones simultaneously with different chargers. Or if you're both charging non-MP3 phones AND you want to use an mp3 player.
Or, in my case, if you want to charge both of your phones AND use your portable lava lamp, simultaneously. :-)
It also prevents the car's one and only 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter from getting in the way of tall travel coffee mugs in the cup holder just beneath.
This is a great value. I use it all the time now.

Bought these to use for our home delivered meals program one of our drivers kept smelling something burning looked down and the outlet was melting. He was afraid it was going to burn his car up. And there were only 2 things plugged into it. Would not recommend buying this item especially for long periods of use as our routes are only about 1-2 hours long and they were already melting.Want Bell 22-1-39005-8 Triple Socket with Extension Cord Discount?

I got this today and couldn't wait to try it out. So i drove around the Bay Area and had a good experience. I drove from Emeryville into the city, then hop onto 280 south down to redwood city, swing back onto San Mateo bridge and then up 880 north.First, the X band went off a lot in emeryville, which was okay to me since X band is known to have false alarms. But it didn't go off much at all when i was on the freeway.
On 19th ave, there's a digital posting of your speed and so i know for sure there's a radar there. The speed sign is 1 block from golden gate park. I got a K1 alert as i exit the park and i never got anything else after i passed it.
The next exciting road was the San Mateo bridge. It has a sign saying "Radar enforced". So i was wondering where the radar is. I entered the bridge and soon after i get a K1 alert. It lasted for maybe 20 seconds, then i get about 5 seonds of K2, and then 1 second of K3. So it seems to me that if I see K1, Ka1, or Ku1, I better slow down because if i see K3, I would be passing the cop.
Two days later, i went on east bound bay bridge. And as i approach, i get a K1 for a very long time. Then as i enter the new section of the bay bridge still under construction, K2, and then K3 for about 20 seconds, then I saw from afar a speed post with speed limit at 35mph and a digital readout of car speeds. I got closer, it becomes K4, and then K5. I pass it, then it gradually went to K4, K3, K2, K1, then nothing. Few seconds later, I got another K1, then K2, K3, K4, then I see yet another digitial speed sign, and then K5. I also got a pop detection about 45 seconds later, I didn't see a cop tho.
I should point out that on the same night, I went on the Dumbarton bridge where there is a "Radar Enforced" sign, but the 9930 did not went off at all. Also I passed by 2 parked cop cars without the detector going off. This shows that the detector only help you in certain situation. You still need to WATCH for cops.
As for features, I really like the intelliMute, it's very accurate. I drive a stick shift so i'm very aware of my RPM. The display looks great, but it's a bit too bright at night. I didn't bother with the compass because i already have a build-in navigator. the setup was extremely easy and user friendly.
I was originally going to buy an escort x50 used for $200, but amazon is selling this for $122 new. It make sense for me to get this. I don't normally speed. But i plan to drive to LA every month for the next year, and so there is no way i can stay below 70mph all the time. Highway 5 is mostly desert and farm land, so if i see a K1 alert, i'm going to slow down.
I would recommend this model because it works and it's well designed. I had an older model of Cobra a few years ago and it was dead weight. This one is different. Not great, but good for the price
Now the bad stuff:
the powercord is sooo short, no one can use it without an extension. I found one in bestbuy for $8.
The suction cup doesn't suck. I'm trying to use the velcro, but it doesn't seem to stick either. I'm thinking of getting one of those rubber mat for ppl to put cell phones on their dashboard.
The sensitivity is not as great as an escort, but if you don't ignore the level 1 alerts, you should be okay.

I would actually rate this 2 1/2 stars (2 was just too harsh). I recently had my Passport 8500 stolen, and just couldn't bring myself to plunking down another $300. On physical appearance between the two, the Cobra wins hands down. Unfortunately, that's as far as it goes. Protection seems OK, but it goes off so much in the city, it's hard to take it seriously. Unless I'm mistaken, turning off the POP protection needs to be done every time it is plugged in (major inconvenience, as it regularly gives off false alerts in the city). Passport kept its settings when unplugged. Mute button is on the detector itself (inconvenient to reach) whereas the Passport's is on the plug, which is much easier to reach. This is very minor, but the suction cups for the mounting bracket are so stiff that it is hard to get them to take on the windshield...especially if it's cold at all. I spent a ridiculous amount of time and effort just to get them to stick to the windshield. Hot water is your friend when mounting the Cobra. Also, the cord is short. Don't expect to mount this anywhere but straight up from your plug and at the very bottom of the windshield. Even at that, the cord will be stretched out, and flush against your dash. Don't understand the thought behind the cord, but luckily it works in my case.I have not yet been on a road trip with the Cobra, and I suspect I would have fewer issues with it. I do trust the protection, but don't care for all of the other nuances when driving in town. I find myself driving with it unplugged in the city more often than not. I didn't really expect to get Passport quality for this price, but I did have hope. Good protection for the dollar, but I should have bit the bullet and bought the Passport. Oh well.
Want Cobra XRS-9930 12-Band Radar/Laser Detector Discount?
The Cobra XRS 9930 is a good detector for the price. Now that it retails on here in the low $100s, it's not a bad deal. It's not the king of the road for detectors but for this price point, it's great and dare I say it, has great features. The screen seems little but is packed with info. The compass and volt meter are a great touch. The audio is very attention getting unless you have the stereo up loud... There is the option to plug in an external speaker from a 3rd party if you have to have it.If you turn off the unnecessary detection features like SWS, Ku, POP, VG2, and Spectre, you'll have a decent detector that doesn't false much. Just don't wait for alerts to ramp up to level 5. Be on the lookout as soon as you start to get an alert that you know isn't where you normally get a false alarm. I've passed cops and never had mine go above level 1. But it DID alert.
True radar detector fanatics don't like Cobra because their circuitry causes false alerts on nearby radar detectors and their marketed to sound waay better than they are. But if all you care about is a decent detector for the price, this one will do. The only alternative in this price range with better performance is the Whistler XTR-690. It's a great detector that runs even with the XRS 9930 in some forms of detection and bests it in others. But if you have your heart set on this detector, it won't be a bad buy for the budget.Make sure you manually turn on all the radar detecting features. The unit comes with only X and K bands features on.

This part is junk. Oversize mount hole won't clamp on post. Threw in garbage. Not worth returning.I purchased both the + and clamps and neither would tighten properly. This is onto a brand new battery. I picked up a couple of cheap lead clamps and they work perfectly. If the slots were cut deeper or the holes were reamed smaller these would work, but these must have been overlooked by QC and got sold as-is.
These might look pretty but they simply do not clamp onto the battery posts properly rendering them useless junk.
Beware of this issue before you consider purchasing these clamps.

Belkin Micro Charger for Apple iPhone (Black)
This unit from Belkin is a nice contrast to the bargain basement cables.
The cable is thick-even thicker than the original Apple supplied cable. As a rough guideline, it is roughly 2/3 as thick as a typical ethernet cable. That may or may not translate to better performance, but at least it feels like the thing won't fall apart in six months.
The connectors are solidly attached. They are not one-piece molded, but have a rubber-like sleeve extending about 1/4" down the cable, so there is at least some stress relief on the connector. In other words, the wires should stay attached to the connector for normal use.
The apple connector body is quite a bit larger than the metal connector, meaning it may be a tight fit for some iphone cases, although mine works just fine. The plastic case is roughly 1/4" wider than the metal part of the connector in all dimensions.
The power adapter also appears quite well made, and it USB connector on it holds the cable tight enough so that it isn't going to fall out. All the surfaces are smooth and the corners are nicely rounded.
The black finish is looks pretty cool against my black iphone/case and ipad (which lives in a black case).
I didn't measure the charging times, but I tried it on both my iPhone4 and iPad3, and it seemed to charge as quickly as I have ever seen it. This is not always the case with the cheaper cables-where charging can take 2x or 3x longer.
My iPhone synched through the cable to my PC with no issues.
The only negative is that the cable is a bit stiff, and wants to maintain its original "kinks", and puts up a little bit of a fight when you try to coil it up. Hardly worth mentioning.
Overall, I'd be happy with this product, and will probably buy additional units to scatter throughout the house. If you have something that charges from a USB and you need to charge it from a standard wall outlet is the way to go. Plugs into the a wall charger and will take any USB interface, regular or micro. I use it to keep my Iphone and Ipad topped off on when stuck in airports or waiting rooms. Works well, no headaches. This version doesn't come with a USB cord so you have to provide it.

Belkin is such a trustworth brand and this is something I needed. I am so afraid to go with a lesser known brand for fear that it would ruin my device. I highly recommend it. I also love that it's compact and easy to carry.Want Belkin Micro Charger for Apple iPhone (Black) Discount?
Extra chargers are always handy. This one is particularly handy because it has the option to be used both as a USB charger and a wall charger. The cable is sturdy and a good length. As other reviewers have pointed out, it tends to stay permanently kinked but that seems minor. It's a bit on the pricey side but not bad for a high quality, versatile charger.Tuesday, October 22, 2013

Update: After a couple weeks my wife informed me that the clock would randomly display an incorrect time for about 5 minutes and even pointed it out when it happened so I did witness that anomaly. She also said the speakers faded in and out at times but I haven't confirmed that issue myself. Still pleased with the unit, it pairs up quickly. Unfortunately our phones will play for about 15 minutes before rebooting. This is obviously a phone issue though, re-pairing is required but pretty easy with the right widgets set up.

I bought this car receiver last week. Its very ease to install and use, I am very pleased with the equipment. However, I have problem connecting my Iphone 4s via USB , the equipment do not recognise the phone. I have tried with differents cables and it does not works with the Iphone 4s but it work as espected with my ipod 4th generation and a pendrive. I have talked with Sony customer service as well as Apple's and none of them gave me a solution or diagnostic. Nonetheless is a very good stereo.Friday, July 12, 2013
