Jabra DRIVE Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone - Retail Packaging - Black

Jabra DRIVE Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone - Retail Packaging - BlackI got the Jabra Drive for my wife's car and since she has zero tolerance for anything that takes more than 30 seconds to learn how to use, I specifically chose this model based on it being marketed as simple to use. In that regard, it does live up to it's billing. However ...

The marketing collateral says "...it will connect automatically whenever you get into the car" and this is just not true. Once I read the actual user guide, which by the way has to be downloaded from the Jabra site it makes it pretty clear how it actually works. What the Jabra Drive will do is go into "Sleep mode" when the phones it is connected to go out of Bluetooth range (~50 feet). Then if one of the phones comes back into range within 10 minutes it will automatically connect and go back into "Standby mode" and you are good to make and receive calls. Otherwise, the Jabra Drive will automatically shut off to save battery life. To reconnect, you have to slide the itty-bitty on-off switch to off and then back on again, at which point it will confirm you are connected by saying so.

So the point is that "...it will connect automatically whenever you get into the car" only applies if you get back into the car within 10 minutes from when you left. Good to know ...

That all said; it will connect to two phones simultaneously which is a pretty handy feature in that both my wife and daughter can use the unit together or separately without me needing to reconfigure anything, which is a blessing. Also, pairing was very easy probably the easiest I've experienced with all the various Bluetooth products I've used.

So my recommendation to anyone looking to purchase the Jabra Drive is to understand the caveat regarding Sleep mode and as long as that's not a show stopper for you the product pretty much works as advertised.

Note to Jabra: I suggest once the device goes into sleep mode it could be "awakened" by pressing the "Answer/end" button instead which would be much SIMPLER for the user instead of toggling the itty-bitty on-off switch. Just sayin' ...

The thing about a bluetooth speakerphone or earpiece is that it works best when you actually have it with you. Now, that sounds obvious, and it is, but it's funny how often I'm surprised by how true it is. You see, I have a pretty nice Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth Earpiece (Black, Retail Packaging) but have gotten out of the habit of using it because it's yet one more piece of technology I need to bring along. Plus, I don't particularly like the whole "bluetooth earpiece in the ear all the time" fashion that is supposed to, I suppose, suggest how so very important you are that you have to have something in your ear every second, like you're a communications officer for Starfleet.

I also have a Garmin nüvi 2360LMT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with US Canada Mexico Lifetime Traffic & Map Updates, which has a really great bluetooth speakerphone built in. Very easy to make calls using voice activation. The sound quality is great. But, I don't like to bring that everywhere I go, especially when I'm going to or from well known locations. I don't want people to steal it, or break into my car looking for it. So, my primitive security measure is to not bring it when I won't need it.

However, even when I know where I am and where I'm going, I still will get calls while I'm out and about. It is illegal here in California to talk on a cell phone while driving. And it's often far too inconvenient to pull over to the side of the road just to answer a couple of questions, or catch up with a friend. Which has meant, in the recent past, that I flout the law at times by talking on my cell phone, all the while hoping that a cop doesn't see me, and all the while wishing that I had brought by earpiece or gps.

That's why I like this Jabra so much. It does one thing and it does it well. Pairing it with a phone couldn't be easier, even older phones that don't usually have any bells or whistles. As long as they have bluetooth, they connect with ease. Two can connect at once.

The sound is loud and fairly good, though my gps is a bit more clear. The best thing, I think, is that this is fairly small, about the size of a garage door opener. It matches that shape too, so is entirely unobtrusive hanging on my driver's side visor.

Easy to use, unobtrusive, good sound quality, good battery life. All these things combined mean that this is the bluetooth speakerphone that actually gets used because it's the one that always stays in the car.

Though, I've also learned it serves a handy purpose beyond just staying in the car. It also makes for a good speakerphone in general, as it is much louder than the one on my cell phone.

So, it works and it is highly convenient.

That's exactly what I need.

I'm not a fan of the bluetooth sets that you stick in your ear so the idea of reviewing a speakerphone version was actually right up my alley. I seem to get most of my phone calls when I'm in my car, so this scenario worked our well for me for the most part.

Here are the pros and cons of my experience:

The Good: Easy to use, easy to set up. I'm slowly getting more savvy with electronics but I'm still pretty much a dim bulb as far as set up and everything goes. This didn't really come with any instructions but then they didn't really need to for the most part. My phone connected rather quickly to the Jabra, which was good, and I was soon on my way to making many, many phone calls. I liked that I could clip it to my visor and let it do its thing up there. Also nice was that I could use it to listen to music that I had downloaded to my phone. The battery charge lasts long enough for my purposes and I liked that you could easily replace the cord if you lost/forgot the one that came with the speakerphone. I hate it when I get things with cords that can only be replaced by the company, so this was a nice touch. I also liked that the phone's volume was pretty loud since I sometimes have trouble hearing things as well as others might. I still had to occasionally ask someone to repeat themselves, but that's more my issue than the speakerphone's.

The Bad and Inbetween: While I liked that I could clip it to my visor, I found that unless I wanted to put myself at risk of getting it stolen I had to either take it down after each car ride or flip it around to where the speaker part was hidden along the ceiling. This isn't a dealbreaker for me but it just got a little irritating after a while. For a speaker of this size the quality was decent. Music-wise you'd be better off with some of the other options out there (radio, speakers that hook up to your mp3 player, mp3 radio transmitters, etc), but as far as phone call quality went it was better than my phone's speakerphone ability. (My phone is a LG Envy Touch, so that might not be saying much.)

My biggest gripe was that you really needed to have the mic close to your mouth in order for the other person to really hear what you're saying and you'll need to turn off your radio and anything else that might distort the sound. That might sound like a no-brainer, but I found that my car's AC system was (at full and semi-full blast) just slightly too loud and the mic picked it up. I also found that people were having a little trouble hearing people sitting nearby, so if you're hoping to have conference calls with this you'll probably want to make sure that any passengers speak extra loud so they'll be heard. (Although I'm glad to say that a passenger won't have any problems hearing the person on the other end, which is probably what counts in this situation.) This kept me from giving it as high of a rating as I would have otherwise wanted to.

All in all this is a pretty decent unit. For people like me, who don't like the bluetooth earpieces for whatever reason, this will be a nice thing to have.

Bluetooth handsfree has quickly become a very desirable feature on new cars, for the obvious safety and convenience it offers. For those of us without a built-in bluetooth capable head-unit, the visor mounted version is probably one of the best alternatives, as its location on the visor so close to the driver's ears and mouth is nearly ideal.

Pros:

Beautiful and beautifully made. I cannot find another visor mounted model with this much quality and design, and the prices is quite competitive for what you get. It doesn't look like a square garage opene, and the shape isn't overwrought. The metal clip with its high grade plastic functional layouts makes this quite pleasant to behold, and should fit in with the best of car interiors.

Sound: the microphone pick up is fairly clear, and the speaker is quite loud. I wouldn't play music on a speaker like that (see cons), but for phone calls and speech (such as GPS directions), it is quite excellent with emphasis on just the voice sound spectrum.

Longevity: the standby time is really quite long. I haven't really calculated precise numbers, but it has been sitting in my car for almost two months without recharge. It still turns right on. It will hibernate/turn off if left on standby for a while, which probably contributed to the battery life.

Operation: other than the power toggle, which you don't really need to bother with most of the time, everything else (volume, the main button) are all very easy to locate and press, with a good tactile feel. The speaker grille is a giant button in itself, with a discreet, phone handset shaped flashing LED indicator. Pairing and call controls have been nothing but reliable.

Voice prompt: simple things like "Connected" just does wonders in putting out doubts that LEDs never can.

Cons:

A2DP: The headset pairs with A2DP, or bluetooth stereo/media protocol with your phone. The problem is that the speaker is really not made out to play music, and it'll sound pretty tinny and ridiculous. Also A2DP is turned off automatically during a call when Microphone is in use. I wonder if there isn't a way to leave just the call to the Jabra and music to the 3.5mm plug.

Sleep/Hibernate: it will turn off after a while, and so when you enter the car the phone won't automatically pair. It will save the battery and makes sense, but one just has to remember to turn it on if if it doesn't respond with "Connected" as you enter the car. If it's within a few hours it seems to be on standby and it works fine, with automatic pairing happening seamlessly.

I really like this visor headset. Compared to similar products owned by my peers, Jabra Drive's industrial design is almost art. There's little that I can gripe about this, and it worked very well with clear sounds, yet unlike many bluetooth products, also transparently and fairly maintenance free. The long battery life has made that possible, and despite my initial doubts, this has exceeded all my expectations. If you are in the market for a visor mounted bluetooth handsfree, this is definitely worth serious consideration.

For a test, I had my wife set this up. She's not that familiar or comfortable with blue-tooth devices, so I thought doing this would be a good trial. She has a blue tooth capable smart phone, and she had no problem whatsoever connecting it to her phone and using it.

Sound quality is quite good, both for the user of this speakerphone, and for the person on the other end of the call. It fits nicely and securely on the car's sun visor. We found the product quite satisfactory and confidently recommend it.

Wagan EL9796 Easy Quick Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter

Wagan EL9796 Easy Quick Jumper In-Car JumpstarterThis device actually works very well but takes time. Our Dodge Stratus battery was completely dead due to interior lights being left on. There was no glow from any interior lights. It was completely out of current and had been for several days. The temperature was 15 degress, it was snowing out and the car was parked so there was no way to get close enough for a traditional jumpstart (would have needed at least 20' jumper cables).

I plugged one end of the Wagan device into the cigarette lighter of the "running" car and the other end into the dead car. The "red" light on the device went on as expected. I waited about 10 minutes in the comfort of the warm running car and the green light on the device went on signifying that the battery was charged. I tried to start the dead car (it was only 15 degrees and snowing)and it only cranked over once and quit. I plugged the Wagan in again and noticed that the green light on the device stayed on so I unplugged it from the cigarette lighter and plugged it in again. It then went red. After 10 minutes it again went green. I didn't try the dead car this time but rather unplgged the cord and plugged it back in again and waited 10 minutes for the green light to come back on. This time when I tried the dead car it sprang to life and ran fine. It took 30 minutes for the whole process but it did work!

This system has enough cord length for about 18 feet and will fit through a partially opened window so there is no need to open the hood or get at the front of the car. This system allows a person to jumpstart it from any angle so long as the the cigarette lighters of the 2 vehicles are within 18' of each other.

Remember You must turn the key of the dead vehicle to the "accessory" position for the cigarette lighter to be able to pass current through the cigarette lighter sockets.

The beauty of this system is that any car can be jumpstarted this way. Many of the new cars don't have accessible battery connections. You don't have to know how to jumpstart a car. You don't have to know how to even open the hood. It is safe (no battery explosions or getting corrosive chemicals of hands or clothes)and can be done by anyone, regardless of mechanical knowledge.

I was able to jumpstart a completely dead car in 15 degree temperatures, in a snow storm with getting dirty or cold in about 30 minutes. Doing a traditional jumpstart would have meant getting dirty, opening the hood and having snow blow into the open engine compartment. Getting the engine compartment wet with snow (or rain) can compound your problems!

Every car should have one of these devices for the occasions when jumpstarting using conventional cables is not possible, practical or available. The $18 price for this device makes owning one a no-brainer.

This works, but you you have to realize its limitations. It is limited primarily by the fact that it can only slowly move power into a working battery in another car that happens to have run-down its charge.

It will let you get enough charge into a well-working car battery in order to start a car.

It will NOT, however, let you move enough power from one car to another to start a car that currently has an old, broken or worn out "dead battery." For that you'll still need jumper cables, an AC starter, a jump box OR a new battery to get a car going that has a truly dead battery.

This product is a great, safe idea, and it'll let you get a car going when someone let the battery run down, BUT, it will not let you jumpstart a car when its battery has died due to age or malfunction of the battery itself.

Picture this as a straw moving a bit of power slowly into the discharged-but-working "dead" battery, while you really need a fire hose (jumper cables) to start a car that has a no-longer-working battery.

To summarize : Great when someone left their headlights on, worthless when someone's battery has given up the ghost for good.

Never worked. Got hot, smoked, and did not charge the second vehicle. Good thing I taught my wife to use standard jumper cables. Great idea, just turned out to be junk.

The Easy Quick Jumper is a cinch to use, but may not actually take less time than the tried and true conventional jumper cables. Ok, sure you don't have to open the hood, but it actually takes anywhere from 10-15 minutes to charge up the battery in the dead car enough to start the vehicle. If you're in a hurry and feel confident in knowing what you are doing, jumper cables are the way to go. However if you want something that's safe, easy and are willing to allow a few extra minutes, the Easy Quick Jumper is not a bad alternative and works extremely well.

I bought this a number of months ago, just in case. Yesterday, I accidently left my blinkers on too long and my car just wouldn't start. So I pulled this great device out and hooked it to a fellow co-workers car(who also happens to be a woman) and it took about 5 minutes. It worked quickly and easily with no fuss, no guess work, no messy car stuff, no worrying about hurting yourself or blowing anything up. Yes, there are still women out there who don't know how to do this stuff by themselves. For me and I think many other women, this is a great way to not have to rely on someone else or get messy in the process.

My husband is very happy with the radios. He is an avid hunter and the radios proved to be quite useful

I purchased these radios for an elk hunting trip this past month. These radios did not function as advertised. I could see my hunter less than a mile away and could not communicate with him. It was clear line of sight and could not talk. For the price of these radios they should be some of the best. Even when when we could talk i could barely hear him. It was so frustrating, do not buy these unless you are gonna give them to your kids to play around the house with!!!

I bought these for my 11 year old son beacuse he has an interest in all things electronic, Also I wanted a way to communicate with him when he was out in the neighborhood riding his bike. These Motorola MS355R are reaaly not up to even low expectations. My main complaints are:

1. Very slow and cumbersome to manipulate the menue.

2. Range for clear voice communication is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile in my suburban neighborhood.

Less than 1/10 of the advertised range.

3. Overall build quality is very low. Not what I would expect from Motorola.

I these walkie talkies cost about 25-30 dollars I guess that they might be an acceptable deal.

I paid 91.00 with shipping.

Save your self time, money and aggravation and go up to a better product. I am going to return these to Amazon and look for some at a reputable brick and mortar retailer.

Don't buy this JUNK!

Husky Liners Classic Style Custom Fit Molded Front Floor Liner (Black)

Husky Liners Classic Style Custom Fit Molded Front Floor LinerThis product provides excellent protection. Though the fit is good, it's not quite as exact as I was hoping for. They are overbuilt and solid and will not move around. They have saved my vehicle from numerous outings that would have ruined the upholstery, caught full cups of soda and also the wrath of a 1year old. They will undoubtedly provide just about the best protection you could hope for. My only complaint is that the fit could be just a little better, and that they are a little smashed up when they are fresh out of the box. It will take a while before they return to their proper shape once installed.

Usa Spec Pa11-vw6 1998-2007 Volkswagen/audi Ipod/iphone Interface + Aux Input

Usa Spec Pa11-vw6 1998-2007 Volkswagen/audi Ipod/iphone Interface + Aux Input
  • Auto skip to end of play list with factory CD Changer FF button
  • Auto Maintain current play list when migrating from portable to in car use
  • Auto Charge feature charges IPOD battery and auto stops after 1 hour of non use
  • In some vehicles if Vehicle has existing external CD Changer it must be disconnected.
  • Auto Playlist Select - If no play list is created, Auto Selects first 5 play list on iPod

I bought two of these, one for my 2006 VW Passat and one for my wife's 2005 VW Passat. Installation was very easy and the sound quality is good. There is slight static that you can hear with the volume up and the car not running. Easy to controller from car stereo or steering wheel controls. Charges iPod/iPhone and has Aux input that will support other non Apple devices. 3 general complaints:

1. The iPod automatically starts playing when plugged in. This is great when I want to listen to the iPod on our iPhones but sometimes I want to listen to Pandora or Spotiy. While this product totally allows for that, it's annoying because you have to play tricks with it to get it to stop playing the iPod and allow you to control the iPhone and utilize other apps.

2. No support for artist/track name on my MFD in my '06 Passat. It's strange why this doesn't work. I read a few VW forums to learn that no disk changer modulator will support artist/track display in Passats with navigation.

3. If you have a disk changer, it must be disabled for this unit to work. Also, if you have satellite radio, it will also be disabled. However, you can buy a " sat pass" harness that will allow the satellite radio to function just fine.

Overall it works with slight limitations.

My first attempt to get this to work with my son's 2004 A4 3.0 has failed. Installation is pretty easy but we never could get the audio to work. The unit and iPhone are clearly communicating, just no sound. The extra cost cable for the Audi stereo is a must have. The way the unit emulates a CD changer is odd to me it's just not as integrated/seamless as I was expecting. Replacement unit arrived this week and will try it out to see if it resolved the no-audio problem or not. Overall, not really worth the cost or bother.

2002-2010 FORD EXPLORER 4 Button Remote Keyless Entry Key Fob with Quick and Easy Programming Instr

2002-2010 FORD EXPLORER 4 Button Remote Keyless Entry Key Fob with Quick and Easy Programming Instructions
  • Keyless remote for the 2002-2010 Ford Explorer equipped with factory keyless entry system.
  • Purchase includes simple and quick do-it-yourself programming Instructions. No tools needed. Avoid dealer fees.
  • Excellent customer service with email support is provided. Full 30 Day Return Policy.
  • Remote tested prior to shipping with working batteries. All orders are processed within one business day.
  • 4 Buttons to lock, unlock, panic and trunk release.

I could configure the remote quite easily as mentioned in the instruction sheet that came with the remote. Unfortunately, I cannot operate this from beyond a foot away from the car. It works best from inside the car. Beats the purpose doesn't it? I need to try replacing the battery. I'll keep the rating at 2 even if changing the battery works, since nobody wants to replace batteries for a product that just arrived.

Will take the rating down if the battery change does not help.

The remote does not look as neat as the original one and I attribute that to the cheap plastic that it is made of. The buttons aren't as soft as the original one either.

EDIT:

DON'T GET THIS REMOTE. It won't work no matter what you change. Get a more expensive one with which may have a better chance. Pay cheap, get cheap. Rule of the thumb.

Odyssey PC1200MJT Automotive and LTV Battery

Odyssey PC1200MJT Automotive and LTV BatteryI installed a sealed Optima Red Top 35-910 in my car. The Optima failed, was replaced under warranty, and then the replacement failed, as well. The Optimas did poorly in cold weather and wouldn't hold a recharge.

I purchased an Odyssey PC1200MJT because I need a more reliable sealed battery.

The Odyssey is just a bit smaller in overall size than the Optima, but apparently has more total plate size due to its conventional configuration.

The Odyssey has done well so far, but it is the warm season, so I cannot speak to cold weather performance.

However, the specs for the Odyssey are excellent. It is claimed to accept hundreds of charges without a problem (deep cycle), and to handle very cold conditions extremely well.

In regard to the purchase experience, this is the first time after several years of excellent service that I have been disappointed with Amazon.

The Odyssey qualified for Free Shipping, but I needed it sooner than the typical 5 7 days, so I paid an additional $27.00 for expedited shipping. My order clearly stated the total price including expedited shipping, but UPS showed 7 day shipping anyway! I don't know if this was the result of a technical error or what, but I contacted Amazon immediately. Amazon did nothing to correct the problem and would not refund the additional shipping fee! Delivery took a full week.

As Amazon has proven unreliable, I will look elsewhere before making a purchase from now on.

I purchased my first Odyssey PC1200-MJT seven years back at a good deal from a major racing parts shop (S) I've dealt with for years for a low mileage 1979 Berlinetta Camaro I own. I needed a battery that would not eat another inner fender and battery tray out again like a brand new Walmart battery had done in only six months time. The Camaro was only driven about 20 miles once a year and its electrical system was perfect, but that didn't stop that 6 month old battery from destroying the Camaro's battery tray and inner fender liner at great cost to me. To say the least, I was really angry and determined this would never happen again.

I had read about the Odyssey MJT batteries and liked what I saw metal jacketed, sealed brass top post connections, small size per CCA, CAN BE MOUNTED IN ANY POSITION WITHOUT SPILLS. Battery life was also 6-8 years (with good care) in the factory literature, and I had seen reviews of it having lasted as long as 12 years and no, only using and charging a battery for twenty miles driving once a year is not good care. Okay, those specs and reviews softened the steep initial price considerably to which I added a new Odyssey Billet Aluminum Battery Mount of the correct size. Mounted in place, the new battery looked great. It fit the bill, as I needed something that could be left in the tight confines of the Camaro as moving the batteries in and out of my other antique vehicles wasn't as difficult.

Forging ahead, over the next seven years I still didn't drive the Camaro more than 20 miles once a year. But this time there was never so much as any wiring corrosion. In fact, the PC1200-MJT still looked brand new after removing it and wiping it off with some spray window cleaner with a cloth. Yes, after seven years there was a reason for removing it it was quite dead and had failed to start my stored Camaro for the first time. I removed a new battery from my '85 Pontiac Trans Am and started the Camaro driving it a while and checking everything before storing it again. Not knowing if the Odyssey battery here would hold a charge anymore after seven years, I took my time trying to bring it back up with a large NAPA industrial charger I had owned for many years. After a number of hours of close monitoring, I finally got the Odyssey up from a 20% charge to a small cranking charge. I also knew I needed a charger that would properly charge this AGM Odyssey battery without such close monitoring as my NAPA charger was not designed for AGM batteries and could easily overheat and destroy them. So, I purchased a Schumacher charger designed for AGM batteries and let it do its thing for several days. The new charger brought this Odyssey even further back to better health but I did notice it slightly heated the Odyssey while charging. Although it was very slight heating, that's not a particularly good thing for any sealed type battery. But, the PC1200-MJT was sufficiently recharged for good use.

Having a number of antique vehicles with AGM, sealed lead acid, and standard lead acid batteries, I started checking out what else was available in new chargers I could leave hooked up for longer periods of time on stored vehicles. I found the BatteryMINDer line and purchased one (12151) that could be mounted under the hood permanently one that would also desulfate and charge any style battery. I mounted the new 12151 charger with this old Odyssey battery into my '85 Trans Am. It offered full-time desulfation at a maximum of 1.5 amperes charge rate. The TA has a high horsepower small block 406 and a sound system of over 600 RMS watts (well over 1000 watts total). It also has a 140 ampere alternator to keep the power up when two Kenwood stereo amplifiers hit high power levels. So, I wanted the Odyssey PC1200-MJT back to 100% capacity if possible.

In the first few days of using the new BatteryMINDer, with the charger and engine off and the stereo on, I noticed the PC1200MJT battery would lose power fairly quick until I switched off the stereo while there was still enough power to start the 10.25:1 compression engine. After some weeks on the BatteryMINDer 12151, I checked the health of my PC1200-MJT again. After a 12 hour rest (charger disconnected), the battery was showing the same performance as a new battery 12.84 volts as the Odyssey paperwork stated for a battery charged to 100%. I noticed the stereo system could now play much longer with the engine off without apparently pulling the battery down. I could also see the PC1200-MJT AGM battery was charging back very quickly after starting the engine much faster than the previous new sealed Delco had ever recharged in the TA, and proving to me this Odyssey AGM battery recharges much faster by comparison. I already knew it held a charge longer without charging, proving the Odyssey stated longer shelf life.

Okay, I also purchased more new BatteryMINDer chargers after seeing so much first hand with repeated checks using an Amprobe digital volt/ampere meter. The chargers (12151 and a new 12248) have restored all my batteries, including one 13 year old diesel tractor battery that had been sitting around dead for years. But, aside from that, I've seen the quality of the Odyssey when a seven year old battery can be returned to like new electrical condition after reaching its expected service life in years. The military specs of the Odyssey also concerns more than the sealed metal jacket on this battery. It concerns how strong the battery is internally, and that tells me the battery is still physically in good shape internally especially after I did some load testing and saw how quickly the battery recovered. Any lead acid battery can be internally destroyed quickly from vibration (or heavy loads) the Odyssey is designed to take much more than others.

I also have a PC925-MJT in an antique 1957 Ford tractor, and another PC1200-MJT in another vehicle all are performing great. I bought the second two Odyssey batteries after having only seen the strengths of the PC1200-MJT after only a few years of use. A bad charging system (now repaired) on the old tractor took the brand new PC925-MJT down to 50% and a no start condition before I found the problem. The charging system was showing a proper charge in volts, but was supplying no amperes. Once repaired, and after the PC925-MJT had spent a short amount of time on another BatteryMINDer, it too came back to its brand new specs. Because of this, I now use BatteryMINDer desulfating chargers on all of my stored vehicle batteries. Obviously, you get what you pay for with the Odyssey as it is designed much stronger throughout than any other automotive battery especially the MJT series and Extreme series by Odyssey.

These Odyssey MJT batteries are almost bullet proof and well worth the money even if given almost no care. All you really need is a healthy charging system and to charge/desulfate them once in a while as needed. Oh, and the MJT stands for Metal Jacketed Top post. From what I'm seeing, my Odyssey batteries may outlast me if cared for properly with the proper BatteryMINDer desulfator/charger while not in use. The top terminals can also be easily adapted to side post wiring connections with no fear of wiring corrosion since the Odyssey batteries are completely sealed. Just be sure to order the proper battery size, terminal placement, and amperage for your application. Some might confuse the 1200 in this model to mean 1200 CCA but this battery actually supplies 550 CCA @ 0 degress Fahrenheit (725 CCA @ 32 degrees Fahrenheit). This is still more than enough for my Camaro or my Trans Am, even though the factory batteries were rated 600-700 CCA, as the Odyssey has a proven much faster charge recycle time than other batteries, provides greater power on initial high loads such as engine starting, and has a 70% greater life cycle. This is much like a deep cycle boat battery and an automotive starting battery combined. You get the best of both worlds with better vibration resistance to boot using this Odyssey. That alone makes it worth more than other batteries. My Trans Am's amplifier system can quickly reduce a standard starting battery to almost nothing and in no time that standard battery would be worthless (internally shorted and burned open circuits). The Odyssey takes it in stride. Need a battery that is able to withstand the pressures of racing year after year for a race car? Get yourself an Odyssey MJT and forget worrying. They don't leak and they are tough as nails.

I bought this as a starting battery for a Kohler home standby generator.

I bought it primarily because my experience with Sears Di Hard batteries was that they failed much too often after too short a time.

I cannot give an honest review at this time because while the Odyssey is supposed to offer a long and dependable service life, it has only recently been put to use.

Though initially expensive, I bought it because it is promoted as being of military grade and rated high for reliability.

Want Odyssey PC1200MJT Automotive and LTV Battery Discount?

I have Odyssey Batteries in most of my other cars, so when my Wife and I bought a new Z06, I began to think about an Odyssey for that, but when I looked at the catalog on the Odyssey web site, I saw that the Odyssey Battery which fits in the rear battery compartment of a C6 Z06 is not an exact fit and that the ".... vehicle battery restraint(s) may require modification."

I also noted that the dimensions of the Odyssey Battery (PN PC1200MJ) suggested for use in C6 Z06 were somewhat smaller than the stock battery and that the CCA rating of the Odyssey was slightly less, 590 vs 550. I contacted the folks at EnerSys, the maker of the Odyssey brand, and was told the modification to the battery hold down, if necessary would be minor. I also asked about the vent hose which connects to a stock battery to carry away battery fumes. This prompted a response from Kalyan Jana, Product Manager of AGM Products for EnerSys, the company which manufactures and markets Odyssey batteries. He told me, "Odyssey batteries do not require a venting system and therefore the PC1200MJT does not have a connection for the hose. As long as the battery is not installed in a gastight enclosure no special venting arrangements are necessary for any Odyssey battery."

One of the reasons I've become a fan of the Odyssey Battery is its very high pulse cranking current output. in short, "pulse cranking output" is not the same as "cold cranking amps" (CCA) and is a very high current draw for a short period while the engine is cranked during the starting sequence. Pulse cranking is usually defined as lasting five seconds. The LS7 in a Z06 has a very high compression ratio for a production engine and the battery is in the back of the car, at the end of a long cable run. Both those characteristics demand a battery capable of high pulse cranking current output. In that context, I, also, questioned Jana about the difference in CCA ratings and he responded, "The answer lies in how CCA is defined, which is: a 30-second discharge at 0ºF. Unless the user is planning to actually discharge the battery at 0ºF for 30 seconds, the CCA rating of a battery is pretty meaningless. What is of paramount importance in an engine cranking application is the number of amps a battery can deliver for 3-5 seconds (ie: pulse cranking amps) to get that engine turning rapidly. In that respect, an Odyssey battery will significantly outperform an OEM battery that is physically much larger."

As it turns out Delco does not rate it's batteries for pulse cranking amps but Odyssey does. The pulse hot cranking amps (PHCA) rating of the Odyssey PC1200 MJ is 1200-amps for five seconds. I decided to order a PC1200MJ and test it out.

So, how does the Odyssey PC1200MJ work in the real world? Well, first off, you don't have to modify anything to install it in a Z06. While the battery is a little smaller in length, its height is the same as the stock battery so the stock battery hold-down in a Z06 works fine. No modifications are necessary. Because the battery box in the back of a Z is so small, lifting a battery in and out is easier if you have one of those rubber strap battery carriers which attaches to the battery posts but, you can remove and replace the battery by hand if you have a strong grip.

Odysseys are shipped fully charged. I installed the battery, then let the car sit a week before I tried starting it. In spite of not having a charger connected either upon installation or after a week, the cranking speed was, perhaps, 10-20% faster than it was with the original battery. One characteristic which concerned me with the C6 Z06 was the LS7's somewhat slow cranking speed compared to the LS6 in my 2004. Going to the Odyssey battery solved that problem for sure!

The other reason I like Odyssey batteries is they have a long service life, usually 5-7 years and sometimes as much as ten years. Also, they are more tolerant of "deep cycles" (where you run the battery dead, then fully recharge it) than are most conventional battery designs, such as the OE ACDelcos. Thought I've not tested the deep cycle tolerance with the battery in my new Z06, I have run an Odyssey dead and charged it up several times in my 71 Coupe with no ill effects to date. Now that car uses a larger Odyssey, a PC 1500, but the engineering and materials used in of those two are the same only the sizes differ.

There's a downside to the Odyssey PC 1200 and that's weight. The Odyssey weighs about 4 lbs or about 10% more than the stock ACDelco. Hardcore racers might no like that, but I'll take the extra weight in exchange for the Odyssey's better performance and durability.

Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker for 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 Toyota Camry

Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker for 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 Toyota CamryI can't believe I hadn't thought to look at Amazon for this. My wife lost her remote to our 2004 Toyota Camry like 5 years ago and we've been managing with only one because of the crazy price the dealership was asking for a new one. A real pain in the butt. The remote came in the mail in a padded envelope right when the seller said I would. The remote we got was obviously used, but still looked better than our original one. The instructions to program it to our car that came with the remote weren't the correct ones but from having read other comments before purchasing it I knew to check on YouTube. It took me like 10 min to find the best how-to video (There were several) and another 10 to program it because I kept forgetting the correct pattern. I kept running upstairs to look at the video then back down to my car like 3 times before I got smart and wrote the silly thing down. Once I got the instructions it took me two tries before I got it right and programmed the remote. It works perfectly. It must have been a sight watching me opening and closing my car door, starting the motor and shutting it off over and over, and running in and out a bunch of times. I have no complaints. Well, just one. I wish I'd had the correct instructions from the start and that will cost them one star because now my neighbors probably think I'm crazy. But it was not that big a deal. The product looks and works great after 3 months. Will definitely recommend this seller to others.

I ordered this 2 1/2 years ago. Set-up was easy, and I paid a fraction of the price the Toyota dealer wanted to charge me. I'm still using it and very happy with it!

The clicker came with a business card which had a link with instructions on how to program the clicker to your car.

The website they send you to sucks balls, they instructions they give are just incorrect so you end up looking like a guy with OCD just opening a shutting your car door. Fortunately the real instructions took 30 sec to find on google so I'll still give it 5 stars anyway. Saves a ton of money over what the dealership will charge

BMW Advanced Battery Charging System - plugs into power outlet

BMW Advanced Battery Charging System - plugs into power outletI found out the hard way that BMW deactivates the cigarette lighter on recent BMW models, thus making it impossible for this product to work. You must buy a product with battery clips instead of the cigarette lighter version.

The vendor includes language on their website as follows:

The battery charger only works on the following BMW models:

3 Series 2009-Later (not 2006 Conv.)

5 Series 2004-Later

7 Series 2002-Later

X5 2007-Later

1 Series (All)

Z4-New Style Hard-top.

I was wrong in assuming that my 2008 528xi was "later" than 2004. When I contacted the vendor, I was told that this language means that any version "earlier" than 2005 is compatible.

You can get the battery clip version from your local BMW dealer and avoid the high shipping price charged by this vendor.

Buyer Beware.

Modern cars have a host of electronic gear inside of them, gear that drains the battery even as your car sits parked in a garage. I lived in NYC for the entire time I had my 2003 M3 and didn't drive it very often. Result: The battery was often dead. Solution: A trickle charger. These chargers put a low current into the car battery and then, when the battery is fully charged, you don't have to unplug it. Instead you leave your car plugged in, and the charger keeps your battery topped off. Unplug when you're ready to drive and off you go! Great if you don't use your car often and want to have it fully charged when you finally do need to use it.

Not so great if you're expecting an instant charge. If you need to start your dead car soon, jump it or push it down a hill and pop the clutch. Note: try these solutions at your own risk.

The other great thing about this little baby is how you can just plug in to your lighter. So convenient!

On the downside you need a power socket somewhere in the vicinity and possibly a very long extension cord or 2.

And you'll need a car model that works with this. Newer cars can't be charged with this through your lighter socket, so make sure that this is the correct charger for your car. Newer cars need to trickle charge through the connection under the hood or through the battery. I haven't tried it so I don't know what's involved, except that you need some kind of adapter with allegator clips. Amazon's compatibility program doesn't seem to realize this and will happily tell you that your car will work with this charger without any adapter.

I used this for years until just recently, when I got a new car AND started driving more frequently, which was another way to solve the problem!

Buy BMW Advanced Battery Charging System - plugs into power outlet Now

I works well on my '02 M3 convertible. Usually it will take a while (e.g., overnight) to get it fully charged. The plastic shell on the cigarette charger plug got a crack when I accidentally dropped it on the ground, but it still works. Perhaps they could've used more durable material.

Jawbone PRIME JBT02 Bluetooth Headset - Retail Packaging - Red

Jawbone PRIME JBT02 Bluetooth Headset - Retail Packaging - RedThere's not much to say. It's a bluetooth headset. It does what it should. But if you're looking for a scarlet/red product as described, don't purchase it -it's actually magenta/hot pink. Major disappointment, as this was the reason I purchased it.

Back around 2004 I was given a Jabra bluetooth headset as part of a conference goodies bag. In late 2009 I bought my wife and me Jawbone Prime headsets. They're terrible! I went back to the older Jabra I received free--it has much better audio quality, both in and out, than the Jawbone. Jawbones claim to cancel noise better than other headsets; don't believe it. The Jawbone is marketing hype and status without substance.

This product has been great so far. So far it has worked just the way it was advertised. the speaker and the microphone both work real good with no problems. Easy to install, it took me about 1 hour to install and very easy to program.

Want Cartel CT-1000 Bluetooth Hands Free Installed Car Phone With Privacy Handset Discount?

What a neat product. I can't stand hands-free headsets and my car doesn't have integrated bluetooth in the radio, so my options were either to replace my existing radio (which I love) with a new one with built-in Bluetooth or tough it out with a tacky headset. Then I found this thing and it's been great.

It's not for everyone, but I love the CT-1000 and it gets a lot of interesting responses when people ride in my car. I have mine wired into my Alpine stereo so it mutes the radio and rings through the car stereo speakers. It works flawlessly and even has an auxiliary plug to use a standard headset.

Having the handset with the cord makes a huge difference in making calls. It's more comfortable than holding a modern smart phone and doesn't get warm like my phone does.

The speakerphone has great sound quality and it's as easy to use as the old-school car phones of yesteryear. Unfortunately, it's not a 3-watt analog phone so the reception is only as good as your handheld phone.

It's pricey, but well worth it. I installed it myself using wire-taps available at any auto parts store and it took about an hour. I removed my radio and its harness and did the wire tapping inside my kitchen and then just went out to the car and plugged it in. Easy as can be if you have a wiring chart for your car's radio (you bet I do!)

Pros:

Cheep & inexpensive.

Suction cup holds securly to windshield. Won't fall.

Has all the features one would want in a device like this.

Cons:

have to remove battery every 2 weeks to keep it working.

Resolution. Not Great. Same quality Ive seen on 640ish cameras.

Reset device does not reset all options.

Device & Manual quality show this is an obvious Knock-Off Product.

Overall

-It works "OK". I would recommend spending $100 and get the TopDawg Model. It has to work better.

-Guess for $50 I can't complain too much. At this price I didn't have great expectations.

2003 LEXUS ES300 KEYLESS ENTRY KEY REMOTE REPLACEMENT SHELL BLADE SHELL ONLY SB & FREE DISCOUNT KEY

2003 LEXUS ES300 KEYLESS ENTRY KEY REMOTE REPLACEMENT SHELL BLADE SHELL ONLY SB & FREE DISCOUNT KEYLESS GUIDEI bought this thinking I would save some money because Lexus wants around $70 for this key. The key only cost me about $7 and Lexus charged me $25 to cut the key to fit my ignition. The problem is after about a week I took the key out of my pocket and there was a chip of plastic broken off from around the screw. The key hasn't completely broken away from the plastic but with this compromised structural integrity, it's probably just a matter of time. Even if they refund the money or give me a replacement, I will still have to pay Lexus to cut the key again. If I had it to do again, I would just give Lexus the 68 bucks or so because then I would be able to complain to them and probably they would replace it free of charge.

The standard Lexus keybody is weak and eventually breaks. A dealer replacement is over $100.00 (key + cutting). Save yourself time and money. Buy 2 bodies, get them cut by your local locksmith or at the dealer and gain the piece of mind knowing you're covered when the inevitable break happens.

Truck PAC ES8000 1500 Peak Amp 24V Jump Starter

Truck PAC ES8000 1500 Peak Amp 24V Jump StarterPurchase this as an experiment for a possible replacement to a very expensive Govt purchased jump starter. So far everyone seeme to be impressed. Can buy 8 of these for the cost of 1 bi-annual rebuild of the one we've been using. Easily starts "dead" heavy diesel powered equipment & large trucks.

We got this charger while in IRAQ from another unit that was leaving and we have had it for 5 years so I have no idea how old it is. It still works like new and will start anything from a HMMWV to a HEMTT. We use it on a weekly basis to test trailer lights and start vehicles that have been sitting for long periods. If you have 24 volt systems then this is an excellent source of backup power and alot easier to use and lighter than jumper cables.

Bulldog Security Deluxe500B Remote Starter with Keyless Entry, LCD Remote and Bypass Module

Bulldog Security Deluxe500B Remote Starter with Keyless Entry, LCD Remote and Bypass Module[[ASIN:B0002Q7L90 Bulldog Deluxe 500 Two-Way Remote Starter with LCD Remote] JANUARY 2012 Installed this device on 1999 Ford Expedition. Did a bit of research before purchase and install and decided as it appeared to be a DIY supported product. Took approximately 9 hours, principally as a result of double checking and soldering all wire connections. No T-Cable available for this ford vehicle. Install went fairly smoothly. Install was completed and unit worked first time, although when u start unraveling all the wires u will definitely have reservations. Install manual was clear and was install bible. Came with a DVD which had poor quality. I did call tech support before install, to find out about any short-cuts or ideas for this model vehicle, They were available to answer the call promptly. Looking to install similar units in my other vehicles and will probably lean toward bulldog. Amazon base pricing is good, but then tax and shipping brings up slightly, however well below mfg list and/ or cost if installation outsourced. Would be great if there was a better way though to manage all the wires and maybe combine the module and bypass device. My guess is all mfg configure similarily. Would recommend this product to any hands on DIY who has patience for this type of stuff and likes working in tight places to include under a vehicles dash and adjacent firewalls. Good luck and Enjoy!

Update 09/2012: Since original installation 01/2012, which was nine 9 months ago, the door unlock portion of module not functioning properly. Was hard to get through to tech support and then customer service for RMA; but did receive an RMA-. Unit being returned for repair/replacement. who knows what they will do. Disappointed that they have no mechanism to do an exchange or reverse credit to get another unit which will result in an additional visit under the dash once i receive back. I think they could work on that aspect of their operation. Otherwise, unit did work well for the first 9 months. Not sure how other manufacturers handle these situations.

I have used several Bulldog systems and have had good luck with them all.

Because they are sold in local stores, auto parts stores and Meijers, I have replaced remotes without shipping.

I have one like this now and am ordering another for my wife's new Lincoln.

The only problem I've had is on my car which I park all summer, the remote eventually drains the battery. Unpluging the connector from the unit solved that problem.

Uses AAA battery so replacement is easy and cheap.

Range is good and they offer wiring diagrams and manuals on the web.

However, the two way function on the remote has seemed to go bad. I requested a replacement and should be receiving it at the beginning of next week. As long as the part is replaced I would recommend purchasing this product. Especially now that the price has dropped 50 bucks!! I will update when I have received the replacement and the system is back in working order.

AWESOME !!!! this thing does everything. alarm. door locks, awesome remote with screen that shows you what the car is doing. you can program the starter to torn on like a alarm clock, if your car is in a parking structure it will start on a timer every day or the same time every morning, the display shows how long it has been running.

It has aux channels too. for power windows, power sun roof. I use my aux channels on a work truck to light the rear lights when I'm loading the truck. and another aux channel for my power tailgate.

It even comes with an ignition bypass module.

I'm buying one for my pathfinder.

good service, good quality thanks. I would recommend this to another buyer. they say I have to write eight more words, so there, I did.

Product is well work the money! Works great and shipped to me really fast...very impressed. Worth purchasing versus high priced items from the manufacturer.
