Motorcycle / Bike waterproof Handlebar Mount

I ordered this waterproof case so that I could mount my Garmin nuvi 255w auto GPS to the handlebars of my mountain bike. The case arrived and included the mounting bracket, as well as foam inserts that allow for padding, in case you have a smaller GPS. It fit my nuvi 255w perfectly and will easily fit a Motorola Droid, or the newer, larger Droid X (which I plan to be using the case for once I upgrade my cell phone).

The mounting bracket installed in seconds. The clamp which goes around the bar is already rubberized and has small ridges that help secure it tightly. The bracket also includes a ball socket, allowing you to rotate it to a portrait orientation if needed. It allows for about 40 degrees of movement from center, letting you tilt the unit if needed. The front window is clear plastic and feels heavy enough to withstand regular usage. My Garmin touchscreen still worked just fine through the plastic. The zipper which encircles the case is vinyl and hides the zipper track, creating a rainproof seal. My GPS/phone will definitely be safe even if I get caught in the heaviest downpour. There is a quick release built in to the bracket as well. It requires a little force to remove it, which is a good thing. I'd rather have it too stiff than have my GPS falling off. There is also an access port at the bottom of the case, in case you need to run headphones and/or power.

I never take the time to write reviews, so I hope this goes to show you how impressed I am with this product.

This case is terrific! I have it on my Yamaha V-Star 1300 Tourer for about three months, and it works very well.

Pros:

Fits 1" handlebars perfectly, no slipping, secure feeling.

Fits Nuvi 255W just fine.

Easy to use the touch screen through the plastic.

Great value of cost and function.

Easy to remove case from handlebar mount to store GPS.

Can use the cradle the GPS provides if you don't want to use the waterproof case.

Opening for wire is great for power cord, yet is flexible enough to keep water out.

Easy to adjust the angle to accommodate different handlebar bends.

Cons:

Cannot turn off unit without opening case (but that's the tradeoff for waterproof, though).

Lightweight plastic construction makes me a little uneasy, looks like the handlebar mount can crack if accidentally overtightened. But again, this is a great value item. If I wanted commercial grade, I would have bought the more unsightly RAM mount.

Not able to permanently affix to handlebars, nor is it lockable but hey, what more do you expect at this price?!

Here is what I found after riding with this thing on my bike for 1 day.

1. It rained the first day that I installed it, which gave me a chance to test it's "WATERPROOF"ness. The pouch was sealed before the rain started and I rode without touching it for about 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes, the pouch filled up with water. The water collected at the bottom of the pouch. The lining turned into a sponge and separated from the bottom.

2. It is also not clear if the pouch is securely attached to the mount. I removed the pouch from the mount, while I was assessing the water damage. Afterwards, I put it back on and continued to ride. A few minutes later, I accidentally bumped the case as I was stopping. The pouch separated from the mount, fell on the ground and got driven over by 2 cars.

Luckily, I was just testing it out and did not have my $500 cellular phone in there as I was intending to.

Also, I agree with one of the other reviews. This this is ugly. It protrudes very high.

Purchased this to mount my Garmin 765T to my Honda VTX1300R. Works great and have used it in some light rain. GPS is behind a fairing so this mount will have no problem keeping mine dry. Easy to mount and included some rubber spacers which keep it from rotating on the bars while pushing the touch screen and protect the bars from scratching. Took it on a 280 mile trip and was able to tighten the screws a bit when I checked them at the destination, so I would recommend a little blue Loctite to keep vibration at bay. If the screws loosen fully you will lose the nut out the back of the mount. I glued the nuts in from the back so this won't happen. The nuts are recessed in a hex well so only a screwdriver is needed to tighten things up. Very intelligent design feature since most bikes have windshields which make getting a wrench behind the mount difficult. Granted the mount is plastic but it is a thick high grade plastic and I have no worries about it's durability. Touch screen works fine through the clear front panel with no reduction in visibility. Mount holds the GPS in place well, never vibrated down while riding and it takes a firm push to displace it once positioned. The locking collar on the ball swivel never came loose due to vibration after 600 miles on the trip. GPS was a breeze to fit into the case due to several sheets of foam that come with the mount and can be stacked until the unit is kept in place tightly and even cut to make room for your power cord should it not plug in at the top or bottom. I mounted mine with the power cord coming out the top so the zipper tab wouldn't scratch my speedo cover. Very nice mount and I highly recommend it. Excellent value and quality.

Heavy-Duty Auto Jumper Cables - 20Ft x 4-Gauge Copper Wire

The cables I received were not as advertised. They were heavy gauge Aluminum wire surrounded by fine Copper wires concealing the cheaper internal Aluminum core wire. You could easily see the Aluminum where the ends of the cables had been cut off to fit into the clamps. Otherwise the cables seem to be of acceptable quality. I was very disappointed, sent them back for a refund and gave them one star for Bad Art.

I wanted Heavy duty, so thinking the guage of wire ment heavy duty these would fit the bill. I received them quick as always with Amazon, but the first thing I did was try out the clamps and they are CHEAP and I do mean CHEAP. The clamps look like the heavy duty clamps that I'vs used but they are deceiving. When you squeeze them it's hard to keep them from twisting sideways. Next time I will buy them local so I can feel them before I buy them. I can still use them because I don't need to use them very much but would not recomend them. If they upgrade the clamps they would be great because the cable is thick.

Surprising quality. There was only one previous review when I bought these cables, so I thought I'd add a bit more detail. They appear to be what I was looking for: real copper cable and real copper clamps (as opposed to copper plated aluminum). Additionally, the clamps have teeth in the front and the side, thus avoiding the pitfalls of gimmicky clamps designed to work for side-post batteries.

In terms of thickness I'm not that well versed in cable-gauge, though they look to be either the advertised 4 (but may actually be 6), either way should be enough for a few starts of a standard car/truck.

Only four stars because (thankfully) I have not had to use them yet, so cannot speak to their actual usability.

The other reviewer is 100% correct. The iboost when charged and left unused will only last about 2 days. Then the red starts to flash and then it is out of battery. You then have to charge it again and it will last you another 2 days if not used. But if you do use it it will last a while. Like 10 hours for 1st gen and 20 for second gen. That is if you use it immedialty after it is done charging. Warning also could cause your battery to be out of sync!!!!!!

I gave a 2 stars because I brought my Ipod to listen to school everyday. (I had a TA class where I listen to music and grade papers) So it worked for that becuase I consitinly charged the battery everyday. But if you are looking for a Battery Pack that is more realiable and is recharagable (that could replace your depleting battery) look further. This is not what you are looking for.

I purchased a Nyko iBoost Battery Pack for an iPod mini back in December and it started failing within two months of purchase. After six months it failed to hold a charge. I notified Amazon about this and they also could not back up the product with a replacement or partial refund. Do not buy this product as there is no guarantee, either from Amazon or the manufacturer. I suggest buying an external pack (i.e. Belkin) in which the batteries are separate and can be easily charged and replaced. Chalk it up to a painful lesson learned about buying things like this from Amazon.

I bought this bat pack around 2006 and I'm still using it to this day. With mine, if left unused, it will stay charged for a few weeks. While being used several hours a day, I get at least a week minimum use out of it.

I'm not sure why the other two reviewers had such bad luck. In fact, my iPod Mini 2G that I bought this bat pack for is still working right along with the bat pack itself and has since been passed down to one of my kids.

I'm actually considering buying one more of these as a backup to the one I have.

For my PWC, there is simply nowhere to mount this bulky battery switch. I resorted to simply disconnecting the negative battery post instead of utilizing this item. The item, without the giant red key installed, occupies the volume of a baseball. ideally, you want to mount it to some sturdy part of the transom near the battery. In a PWC, however, space is limited. In order for me to use this, i'd have to do some risky drilling to properly mount the switch-not worth the hassle.

Waste of $15 for me, but outboard and I/O boat owners will have more space aboard their vessel to properly mount & use this thing, which will be very easy to enable. I have to assume the item aids in avoiding unnecessary battery drain during boat storage.

The product does not come with any explicit directions as to its operation or installation. both should be pretty self-explanatory.

This switch helps me save my batteries for when I need them, not my clock.

the clear cover falls off after you take it off a few times, also its very large so you need a big surface to mount it on. I mounted by the strut tower in the trunk of my car and ran the wires inside the tower brace. It can be a challenge to mount because its so large and it wont mount unless you have a flat surface. It really helps make your install look better. I have 0 gauge going to a 4 gauge adapter; so its actually holding a 4 gauge sized wire in the input side.

This is a neat little cassette capture unit that is easy to use. I loaded the software that came with it but had trouble learning to use it. I decided to try the player with my laptop's Sound Recorder program and it works great.

I plugged the unit into my laptop with the USB cable included, loaded the cassette tape I wanted to convert, and clicked on Sound Recorder in Accessories. I then clicked on Start Recording (I had my Altec speakers plugged into the capture unit so I could hear when the tape ended). When the recording was finished, I clicked on Stop Recording, and the window to save the recorded file automatically appeared. I went to Music, typed in a title for the recording, and saved the file. I then went to iTunes, clicked on Add File, and my music files automatically appeared. I then clicked on the title of my new recording. iTunes converted the file to an AAC file. When the entire set of tapes had been copied, I set up a new playlist, added all the relevant files, and synced it to my iPod Touch. It all went quickly (except for the time it takes to record) and it worked like a charm.

Even though I had trouble with the software (my fault, not theirs), I am giving the unit five stars because it easily did all that I expected. The tapes I converted are very old (some created more than 30 years ago) recordings of family gatherings, conversations, and music (we have a bunch of musicians in our family), and they turned out clear and clean. I understand that audio book and music cassettes can also be converted and I might try that on some of my old homemade music tapes. For now, I am so happy to get my family memories on my PC, iTunes and on my iPod.

The unit itself is attractive, compact, as durable as one would expect for a small unit, and easy to use. Everything is included (ear buds, USB cable, software CD and the unit itself) and it's all nicely priced at around $19 plus shipping. I might spend some time learning to use the software that came with the unit, but the Sound Recorder program works just as well and as long as the tapes come out clear, I might not bother. In short, I am very pleased with the little capture unit and consider it an excellent purchase.

The usb connector was very finicky. I could usually get it to work by letting the usb hang in just the right position, but any small touch to the device would cause it to fail. Tried multiple usb cables, it was the actual USB connector that was at fault.

Also, recordings had a significant hum that I know was the cause of the device. With the recording software, I could remove most of the hum, but it added an extra 5 minute step after the recording to do this.

I do not recommend this product. You'd be better off just getting a regular tape player and use line-in to your computer... that's basically all you're doing with this anyway... the USB connection on this device basically just adds another sound card to your system with line in "built in".

BTW, the software that shipped with the product is freeware called Audacity. I recommend getting the latest version online for your recordings. Regardless of whether you buy this device or use the "line-in" method I mentioned above, Audacity seemed like pretty good software to do it with.

I returned it.

I recently ran across a forgotten box of about 50 old audio cassette tapes containing vintage radio shows, but since I went (in my infinite wisdom) completely 'digital' years ago, I now had no way to play them (Insert D'oh! here). How nice it would be to be able to transfer all my old audio cassettes of mine to MP3, eh? Luckily, I found this 'USB Cassette Capture' device (Model #TT-CM001). For about $20 you can't go wrong. At first glance it's about the size of the old Sony 'Walkman' (yep, I'm that old). It came with an installation disk that contains an instruction manual (PDF), and an older version of the free 'Audacity' recording software. I recommend going online and downloading the newest version of Audacity (still free), it's 'Plug-Ins' (just for fun), and the 'LAME MP3 Encoder' (even though it has a silly name, it's very important, you will need it!). Installing them is the same as following the instructions on the installation CD (that PDF I mentioned) included with the 'USB Cassette Capture' device (Model #TT-CM001). If this seems too difficult, get one of your computer 'savy' brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, or grandchildren to do this for you. I have Windows 7 and it works great. The 'Audacity' recording software is backwards compatible to Windows XP, and other variations of it include a MAC version too. Now as for the other reviewers who complained about the sound being slow, garbled, etc., it's not the device (at least in my case), but it may be the condition of the cassette tape. So why not 'Fast Forward' and 'Rewind' the cassette tape a few times to loosen it up, especially if it's been sitting in a box for a few years like mine were. I hope this review was helpful.

It took a little trial and error to get up and running, but is well worth it. Good item for the price. Very happy with it overall.

I put a set of professional 2-gauge, 20 foot long jumper cables in this little bag, and they fit fine. If those will fit, any other cables will too.

The cloth is thick enough to resist snagging and tearing, and has a small outside pocket for something very tiny (the pocket is too little for anything big). Compact, and fits well in the trunk, yet sturdy enough for the weight of the cables. Very good, as long as you aren't planning on putting too much else in there. A set of rubber gloves, wipes, and small flashlight might fit, but nothing big.

This is my 5th Bucket Boss product and it's great. My jumper cables, tie downs, flat tire fix, and a couple of other goodies are in the bag. It fits real neat under the back seat of my F150 out from under anyone's feet. Well made and looks good. I'll probably get more of their stuff soon.

For the extension cords, this replaces the ripped shopping bag I've been piling them into. It also keeps them cleaner and encourages you to roll them properly....Once that is done, it is painfully obvious. For those of you with jumper cables floating around the back of the truck, this solves that an gives you a clean, safe and memorable place for the flashlight, etc.

I have to say that this is the third vehicle that I have purchased Husky liners for. They do a great job of protecting the carpet under them as well as holding the dirt in with their high sides. i use this to keep the kids gadgets going on trips over an hour or two... it has 2 wall outlet plugs that will power most anything short of a toast... and if you use the battery jumpers that come with it you can get alot more power (i havent tried those myself)

I hooked it up to my car battery under the hood using the clips. That was ok, but the battery clips seemed a little flimsy and probably won't hold up to constant use. I used it to power my sons baseball pitching machine. It didn't pop a fuse/breaker and worked great.

The Belkin web site and the box implies the iPhone 4 isn't supported so I passed the first time around. Since the return would be easy at a local store I tried the 2nd time. Never used one of these before and it didn't seem to work on any of my devices. None of the devices listed on the box or web site match what I have.

But, you have to know that (apparently) the iPhone/iPod doesn't send any A/V signals out the dock connector unless you start playing something music/video. Once I figured that out, ALL my devices work just fine.

This product does not work with iPhone 3G (iOS 3.1.2), iPod touch or iPod Classic. Belkin website says it does not work with iPhone 4 also. When you connect it to the iPhone, it says "This device is not made to work with the iPhone".

I purchased this for my iPad2.

The description does not mention iPad, but it works just fine. I can see AirVideo output just fine with sound and charges the iPad2 at the same time.

I do however have one HUGE gripe. The connector dislodges from the iPad VERY easily, which of course keeps it from charging and disrupts the external display. Very annoying.

I managed to mitigate that occuring however by simply attaching this 15' extension cable SF Cable, 3 RCA Male to 3 RCA Female Audio Video Extension Cable-15 Feet, so now I can watch my living room Win7 MCE recordings (wtv files) on the bedroom TV upstairs and keep the iPad within easy reach on my nightstand.

Also, I find that I need to use the 2amp charger that came with the iPad because the video would just not show up using my HTC 1amp charger.

Well made and solid. I am using it to power some small motors like air compressors and electronics while camping. I am not sure if it will power larger equipment as it does run off the battery. Just to be safe I run the engine while I use the lamps and compressor.

Purchased for my 2000 Toyota 4Runner with 3 120W 12V outlets for use on long trips etc., based on positive reviews here. The 120V AC output of the charger works well for my Lenovo t61p and a friend's Toshiba Satellite laptops. I've used it for about 2 hrs since my purchase so far. Construction is of decent quality plastic and the product feels solid.

However, there are a few quirks you should be aware of. Minor, but nuisances nonetheless, and enough to subtract two stars from the rating.

1) The click-angle head of the product is weak. It cannot support the weight of the product outlet head and a plug at an upwards angle -it will creep downwards as you drive with your car's driving vibrations. The click head more or less holds its place when used horizontally.

2) The click-angle head's rotational range is narrow. The range or motion shown on the product picture is its maximum range of motion. Due to the adapter's large size, it may not fit your vehicle if the 12V outlet is right behind your shifter, etc.

3) The cooling fan is loud during operation, even when only using the USB outlets. The noise is bearable on the highway amongst highway vehicle noise (and my truck's on the loud side by today's standards), but the constant whine is unpleasant during street driving. You should purchase a separate adapter for dedicated use with USB devices. I think the noise is about equivalent to a vacuum cleaner behind a thick door or 2.

I would consider a corded inverter instead of this product for space use flexibility and placement muffling -the noise will be far less obnoxious say, under your legs than on the dash console; even if the other product is equivalently loud.

I purchased this converter to power a uniden video monitor in my car. I'm using it as a baby car seat monitor. Pioneer Cdsr100 Steering Wheel Remote Control

Well, it didn't work for me after initial setup. Honda CRV is the worst possible cars for this remote to work: the radio has some deep housing around, plus it's on top, plus there is transmission's column-mounted selector lever covering the radio from the left. It worked only in total darkness, 2 o'clock mounted.

Here comes the fix.

It's infrared, so I stared looking for a LED, which is supposed to transmit the signal. Take any home TV remote and see how it works. You'll find some clear plastic, covering a LED, or LED with no cover coming out to send a signal. Basically, it's an invisible light, nothing more.

I was surprised and shocked to find no LED visible anywhere on Pioneer CD-SR100. Since it didn't work for me and I'm too lazy to ship it back, I've decided to open the unit to see what's inside. It wasn't really hard, actually. You start from the bottom, where Pioneer logo is, carefully using a small flat screwdriver, and quickly have the unit in two peaces. This is when you'll see the LEDs, two of them, hidden inside right behind that Pioneer logo. There is a tiny hole of a hair size which, according to minds of Pioneer engineers, is big enough for the signal to come out. I don't want to use any other words here, but I totally disagree with Pioneer on their idea.

To continue, you have to remove the volume control board. It's attached with 4 small screws. After that, I took a drill, a 1/8 drill bit and just drilled a hole near that LED, which was closest to my head unit on 2 o'clock position. That's it. I even trimmed the volume board with scissors to open up the LED even more and pushed its head to the new hole. You can assemble the unit back after that.

And now it WORKS! It works at 2 o'clock, at 6, at 10, at darkness, at sun it just works. Once again, don't want to comment Pioneer's engineers. People, finalizing the design of this unit should be fired. Actually, the soldering of the board was so-so, it's on very cheap side, has 4-5 parts on the board, and for the money the unit is too overpriced.

You're loosing you warranty after doing what I did, I bet, but for me the only way before was just to throw the unit away, so I don't care.

Found intermittent operation when out of the box. Found the review on Amazon recommending a drilled hole, snipped board, and bent LED. This makes it a 5 out of 5. Works like a champ. Remove the battery. Separate top from bottom (did it with my fingernails). Stock uses two LED's to bounce light off your face through black plastic while this makes for clean packaging it doesn't pass light well (invisible or not). CAREFULLY bend one of the LED's to point toward your deck instead of your face. Drill a 1/8" hole (found drilling from the inside out easier) pointed toward your deck. Remove the 4 screws on the audio volume board and snip the corner off with a pair of scissors or cutters right along the closest wire solder pad (not an absolutely necessary mod if you are crunched for time or fear). Position the LED to point toward the hole. Reassemble. 1/2 hour tops mostly to round up tools. Make it work EVERY time. Positioned mine in an Altima @ 3 o'clock. 1 foot from the deck face. Really makes the system come alive (PIONEER DEH-9800BT with XM). Awsome combo.

Pioneer Cdsr100 is a steering remote control unit being sold by Pioneer for more than 9 years now. Yes, because it works well with all units, so there was no need to replace it. I am using it with DEH P-80MP (or P-1Y in Asia) for two years and my experience so far with it is just ok. I like the ease to operate, and its excellent design, but hates when it stops working when your car is parked in sun, or when it is too cold. Still, it is value for money product from Pioneer.

Shipping wasn't super quick, but it got here in a reasonable amount of time. It looks brand new and like it's OEM. Popped it apart, put in the chip from my old busted fob, put in a new battery, and snapped it back together. Works as well as the old one. If you break your fob, and you usually do by cracking off one of the key loops, this is the easiest, cheapest way to fix it. No reprogramming needed. Good deal.

This unit worked perfectly. I was able to take the old guts out of the broken remote and slipped them into this new one and was off and rolling in no time. This new one seems to work better than the old one because you get all new button keys. It was such a great deal I picked up two so now I have a spare for the future. Quality 6 volt chargers are hard to find and I was a bit skeptical about this one but am glad I purchased it. I have an antique car, 6 volts, that takes a good amount of power to start. Regular maintainers left me with an OK battery but not enough to turn the motor well. I always had to use a 6 volt jumper battery as well to start. This guy took a while to get things in order, but now the car starts with ease. I was concerned for a period of weeks because the light never moved from the center and I thought perhaps it was not working. However it eventually turned green and I was very please with my battery power.

As others have mentioned, put the right size rings on the harness! It should be obvious to the manufacturer that these rings are too small and we have to replace or drill to make work with most battery clamp bolts.

I recommend this unit for older 6 volt cars and I am sure it would be excellent for those applications where less amperage is needed.

The chargers come with nice leads for connecting to the battery, but a few issues for my installation. I take it this is designed for a motorcycle or something similar, as the length of the bolt-on lead to the quick-connector is short, like 14", so forget trying to get the connector out of the engine bay. I'm hooking up to antique cars and we need like 3' of lead. Plus, the connector is 1/4" and a 5/16" minimum is needed to go over the battery clamps on my applications, so the connectors did not do the job and I will have to try to fabricate some new ones with longer leads -

I have not used long enough to rate the charging systems but hopefully that is worked out. I'm going to ask the MFG for a longer lead and 12 volt style batter connectors for my applications, see how they react.

This set worked out great. Not only can the kids hear the DVD , I can play the radio or roll the window down without being told to " turn it down. I can't hear the tv. Or " roll the window up. I can't hear." So I highly recommend this for those who want to play the radio while the kids watch DVDs on a long trip. They're comfortable and the sound is fine. The "Yuasa (Enersys) Genesis NP7-12T 12 Volt/7 Amp Hour Sealed Lead Acid Battery with 0.250 Fast-on Connector" is a nice, high quality battery. I got two of these batteries to replace the OEM battery pack in an APC Smart-UPS 700Net. After installation, I powered up the UPS and all worked well with the battery power level reading fully charged from the start. Batteries were supplied with plastic terminal covers (see photo). For two batteries, it was $39.97 delivered and a good price. All points being the same, I recommend this product.

Batteries were very well packed (see photo) and promptly shipped by Portable Power Systems, PPS.

My original battery in my APC powercell lasted 12 years (hard to believe). The replacement had the same quality workmanship as the original. The total time to replace the battery was 10 minutes. Perfect fit. No complaints so far.

Yuasu was the brand of battery that lasted 9 years in my home alarm system. I found out that it can also be used to replace APC's RBC2 replacement cartridges. The APC brand had a bad batch? which lasted only 1.5 to 2 years vs the original 4 to 5 years. I am replacing my APC replacement cartridges with the Yuasu as they give out. I guess I am saying that I am willing to pay more for a quality battery which lasts longer. However I won't know how well this battery will last. Just my experience with the one that lasted 9 years (albeit in a low backup use).

When I received the Yuasa Battery I found that I had ordered it with the wrong size connector. I called the company that had shipped it and asked what I could do to either make this battery work or return it for the right size. They were extremely nice and told me that they would mail me two clips to convert the connectors so that I could use the battery I had. Product may be OK if the parts fit. The nuts that come in a plastic bag do not fit the Large posts on the solenoid. This is the second unit that I received. I sent the first one back thinking the wrong nuts were just a mistake. The second unit was the same. Also the switch with wires attached was wired incorrectly. The crimp terminals that came with the unit didn't fit the small posts on the solenoid. Both ordered I received both had the same things wrong. I'll be sending the second one back for a refund. I will search internet for a different battery disconnect. I even took the solenoid to the hardware store to try and get the correct nuts, but they could not figure out the correct size. Nothing they had in stock fit. It is an odd size. I even called "KeepitClean.com" They did not know the size either. They said they couldn't help. I had to deal with Amazon. Big headache, do not buy.

I purchased this to be able to shut off my truck battery from inside my truck rather than open the hood to turn it on and off every time. Unfortunately, it was riddled with problems.
