Motorcycle / Bike waterproof Handlebar Mount

Motorcycle / Bike waterproof Handlebar MountI ordered this waterproof case so that I could mount my Garmin nuvi 255w auto GPS to the handlebars of my mountain bike. The case arrived and included the mounting bracket, as well as foam inserts that allow for padding, in case you have a smaller GPS. It fit my nuvi 255w perfectly and will easily fit a Motorola Droid, or the newer, larger Droid X (which I plan to be using the case for once I upgrade my cell phone).

The mounting bracket installed in seconds. The clamp which goes around the bar is already rubberized and has small ridges that help secure it tightly. The bracket also includes a ball socket, allowing you to rotate it to a portrait orientation if needed. It allows for about 40 degrees of movement from center, letting you tilt the unit if needed. The front window is clear plastic and feels heavy enough to withstand regular usage. My Garmin touchscreen still worked just fine through the plastic. The zipper which encircles the case is vinyl and hides the zipper track, creating a rainproof seal. My GPS/phone will definitely be safe even if I get caught in the heaviest downpour. There is a quick release built in to the bracket as well. It requires a little force to remove it, which is a good thing. I'd rather have it too stiff than have my GPS falling off. There is also an access port at the bottom of the case, in case you need to run headphones and/or power.

I never take the time to write reviews, so I hope this goes to show you how impressed I am with this product.

This case is terrific! I have it on my Yamaha V-Star 1300 Tourer for about three months, and it works very well.

Pros:

Fits 1" handlebars perfectly, no slipping, secure feeling.

Fits Nuvi 255W just fine.

Easy to use the touch screen through the plastic.

Great value of cost and function.

Easy to remove case from handlebar mount to store GPS.

Can use the cradle the GPS provides if you don't want to use the waterproof case.

Opening for wire is great for power cord, yet is flexible enough to keep water out.

Easy to adjust the angle to accommodate different handlebar bends.

Cons:

Cannot turn off unit without opening case (but that's the tradeoff for waterproof, though).

Lightweight plastic construction makes me a little uneasy, looks like the handlebar mount can crack if accidentally overtightened. But again, this is a great value item. If I wanted commercial grade, I would have bought the more unsightly RAM mount.

Not able to permanently affix to handlebars, nor is it lockable but hey, what more do you expect at this price?!

I purchased this mount for my Nuvi 260 and it mounted great to my bike. I ride a Kawasaki KLR 650 and it looks great on it. I have no complaints about the durability of the mount itself, nor how the waterproof case connects to the mount. Solid Product and I would recommend it!

Here is what I found after riding with this thing on my bike for 1 day.

1. It rained the first day that I installed it, which gave me a chance to test it's "WATERPROOF"ness. The pouch was sealed before the rain started and I rode without touching it for about 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes, the pouch filled up with water. The water collected at the bottom of the pouch. The lining turned into a sponge and separated from the bottom.

2. It is also not clear if the pouch is securely attached to the mount. I removed the pouch from the mount, while I was assessing the water damage. Afterwards, I put it back on and continued to ride. A few minutes later, I accidentally bumped the case as I was stopping. The pouch separated from the mount, fell on the ground and got driven over by 2 cars.

Luckily, I was just testing it out and did not have my $500 cellular phone in there as I was intending to.

Also, I agree with one of the other reviews. This this is ugly. It protrudes very high.

Purchased this to mount my Garmin 765T to my Honda VTX1300R. Works great and have used it in some light rain. GPS is behind a fairing so this mount will have no problem keeping mine dry. Easy to mount and included some rubber spacers which keep it from rotating on the bars while pushing the touch screen and protect the bars from scratching. Took it on a 280 mile trip and was able to tighten the screws a bit when I checked them at the destination, so I would recommend a little blue Loctite to keep vibration at bay. If the screws loosen fully you will lose the nut out the back of the mount. I glued the nuts in from the back so this won't happen. The nuts are recessed in a hex well so only a screwdriver is needed to tighten things up. Very intelligent design feature since most bikes have windshields which make getting a wrench behind the mount difficult. Granted the mount is plastic but it is a thick high grade plastic and I have no worries about it's durability. Touch screen works fine through the clear front panel with no reduction in visibility. Mount holds the GPS in place well, never vibrated down while riding and it takes a firm push to displace it once positioned. The locking collar on the ball swivel never came loose due to vibration after 600 miles on the trip. GPS was a breeze to fit into the case due to several sheets of foam that come with the mount and can be stacked until the unit is kept in place tightly and even cut to make room for your power cord should it not plug in at the top or bottom. I mounted mine with the power cord coming out the top so the zipper tab wouldn't scratch my speedo cover. Very nice mount and I highly recommend it. Excellent value and quality.

Fonus Universal Car Mount Holder with Dual USB Charger and Charging Socket for Apple Iphone 5

Fonus Universal Car Mount Holder with Dual USB Charger and Charging Socket for Apple Iphone 5The socket part is to big, It doesn't have a good fit. I have to Keep pushing it in. I recommend finding something else.

I had high hopes for this charger/mount for my new iPhone. Everything worked great--except for the USB plug, which would no way fit the iPhone 5 USB. Amazon should stop this company from selling this item, as they are obviously misrepresenting their product.

I only gave this two stars for the following reasons, great price and great design concept. However, the part that gets pushed into the power outlet does not fit properly in any vehicle and auto ejects itself, causing the charger not to charge. I didnt return the product as my time is more valubale, but if i had my way, i would ask for a full refund.

Samsung YP - K3 2in1 USB Sync and Charging Data Cable, USB Car Charger, and U...
  • Charge your Samsung K3 with the charging combo kit
  • USB 2in1 Sync Charging Data Cable lets your transfer files, songs, and movies
  • The USB Car Charger allows you to charge your player when you're on the go, or on long trips in the car
  • The USB Wall / Travel Charger allows you to charge your player when you're not at a computer with a wall plug, on vacation or staying at a hotel
  • Plug in the USB Sync Cable into the USB Car or the Wall / Travel charger and take it on the go.

I ordered this because I needed a charger for my Samsung YP-K3 (music player) --I was excited that it fit but it also came with all this extra stuff I have no use for. Although I did not do my research either... it was still what I needed. SO two thumbs up!

Even though the website stated that this cable would fit my specific MP3 player (Samsung YP-K3), it did not fit. The connector was too small. It was only about $5-6 including shipping, so it's really not worth sending it back. This is the issue with buying something online can't try it before you buy it.........

This item was really perfectly fine. I have no problems with it and I still use it to charge my mp3 player.

BlueAnt CMT-USEN Commute Voice Control Speakerphone with True Speech to Text - Bluetooth Car Kit -

BlueAnt CMT-USEN Commute Voice Control Speakerphone with True Speech to Text - Bluetooth Car Kit - Retail Packaging - BlackI'll break this up into different sections to try to give you the best detailed review possible.

DESIGN:

The Commute's design is solid. I have to admit it's a little bigger than I anticipated, but it puts out the sound to justify it. The volume buttons are, in fact, not buttons at all. Just slide your finger from left to right to turn it up, and right to left to turn it down. I kind of like that and kind of don't. I think I would have preferred buttons (it's easier to feel buttons without looking than figuring out if you're about to slide your finger at the right place) but I've figured out how to do it just fine. There's a place in the middle of the top of the Commute that launches the voice control, hangs up phone calls, among other things. Again, I would have preferred an actual button to know exactly where I'm pressing, but you get used to it.

The usb cord to charge it is rather short and the manual says it takes 3-4 hours to charge. Doesn't seem like I'll be charging it in the car. We just bring it in the house with us and charge it overnight

SOUND:

It really really sounds good. When using it in the car, the sound is amazing. Every word the caller says is crisp and clear. When talking with someone using it for instance when I'm at work calling my wife in the car it barely sounds like she's using a speakerphone. There is absolutely no background noise except when she's talking...then I just hear what sounds a little like wind, but it's really not much at all and doesn't bother me one bit.

I haven't tried to use it with the gps from my phone so I'm not sure how the voice navigation is. Nor have I listened to music with it. The one thing I will say is to make sure that your phone is not on vibrate...otherwise it does not alert you when you get a text.

EASE OF USE:

The Commute's integration with Siri is practically flawless...just say "Launch voice control" and Siri talks to you over the Commute. The only problem that I've had is that it sometimes says that handsfree is connected but it won't be ready to "listen" for my voice controls. Instead, I have to push the button in the middle. After I've done that once, handsfree mode works perfect from that point on.

Hanging up from a call is sometimes difficult. I'm sure once I get more time with it, I'll figure out all of the tricks, but I've just struggled with it so far.

SETUP:

Nothing could be easier...period! Connects with phone and loads contacts flawlessly.

CONCLUSION:

The only reasons I took 1 star off is because it's not always ready for handsfree use even though it says it is and the fact that I would have preferred regular buttons (again, that may just be my preference though). Other than that, this thing is a must for any man to buy for his wife to have in their car. My wife is really happy with it and the fact that she can text me back while driving gives me peace of mind that she is safer. Well done Blueant!

I have now owned four blue tooth speak systems for my Passat. All have eventually ceased to properly function after eight months, so I keep replacing them with different brands or models. I purchased the BlueAnt Commute because everyone complained about the lack of call quality with my Jabra Highway. Here are my observations with the Commute:

The sound output is good but the spoken "trigger" activation is sometimes set off by the car audio.

Although it took several minutes to upload my contacts Commute cannot make a call using them and must defer to Siri in my

iPhone. I can speak "phone commands" to activate Siri easily enough but other brands I have owned were more seamless.

Battery life is adequatecomparable to other models.

People receiving calls complain about the sound quality.

But the biggest complaint is the power on/off switchit seldom activates on the first try, and I have to cycle off and on again for the unit to power up.

Good unit, not a perfect unitthe Jabra units when new have been the best but they have proven to be very unreliable. So I am still looking for the right balance of quality, functions, and reliability...

I use the Blueant Commute with my Galaxy S3 and decided to make a video to cover call quality as that is always my biggest concern with these items. Many of the faults with this item lie with the android voice dialer or S-Voice bluetooth interaction itself. The unfortunate need to hit the command button a few too many times is what knocks this off to 4 stars.

I neglected to show off how it plays music, but I will say for one speaker it does a serviceable job. It comes across as clear and loud as the Biueant voice in the video review.

I ordered this based on reviews I read on Amazon. If my review was based solely on the call quality this product would've received the full 5 stars from me. The deduction in stars came from the fact the product does nothing it advertises to do. Pairing easily is about the only thing it claimed that was true. I have a Samsung SG3 and I used and tinkered around for about a week and I could never get this to read any of my texts which is one of the main reasons I purchased this unit over one of its competitors. With the exception of answering and making calls nothing else was hands free.

The other issue was the volume. I drive a Jeep Wrangler, so needless to say there is a lot of background noise. The noise never disturbed a call, in fact people I talked to said they never noticed the background noise. Some even went as far as to say they didn't realize I was on a speaker phone. As far as my end went, the volume on the incoming calls was fine, even on the freeway, and the calls were clearer than clear. The volume issues came when I was trying to stream from phone. I tried to listen to my Pandora and music I had stored on my phone with the same results, I struggled to hear anything. So as much as I like the call quality, after a week worth of use I had to return it to Amazon

Our city recently went hands free for cell phones. This device is a great alternative to in the ear blue tooth devices. I generally only need a blue tooth while in the car. I like the fact that this attaches to the visor and can't get lost.

As far as funtionality, I have used this device with my iphone. One voice command, " launch voice control", unlocks siri from apple. This makes this device a powerful tool for making voice calls, simple text are easy (it does not automatically read incoming text you have to ask siri to read them to you.) It can launch apple maps for turn by turn directions and even play music from you iphone. I recommend learning how to use this feature BEFORE driving.

Sound quality. People don't even know I am using a blue tooth it sounds that good to them. The speakers for the user to hear now thats another story. Most calls are cell phone to cell phone. When I have some one who calls me with a poor quaility call the device does nothing to enhance the sound. At full volume (which is the only way you can hear it while driving on the highway in my truck) the sound is distorted even more.

Hardware. nice battery last 2 days. The usb charging cord is short. The visor clip holds it nice and secure. The hand controls on the unit are touch sensitive and not buttons. This takes some getting used to. Keep the directions close for a couple of days.

Overall 4 stars out of 5. If I could answer any call any time with confidence that I could actually clearly understand the person on the other end it would have been 5 :)

Clore JNC300XL 'Jump-N-Carry' 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light

Clore JNC300XL 'Jump-N-Carry' 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with LightWe purchased the JNC300XL about a year ago to power a camera system we were developing for a truck. We needed 12Vdc vehicle power while in the lab and in the field for testing off the vehicle. It charges quickly, holds a charge for months and is light and compact. Last summer my wife called to say she was first in a left turn lane on a busy expressway and her car stalled and would not start. I grabbed to JNC300XL where it had set for months without a charge and off I went. I connected it to her battery and it provided plenty of power to turn over her fair sized V6 engine and start the car. The nice thing is it was a quick hook up. I wasn't in the middle of a busy road trying to get my car close enough to her car to string a couple of jumper cables. It is great for powering gadgets that normally plug into a cigarette lighter for power. You unplug the "flashlight" on the front of the unit to access the cigarette lighter plug. As with all batteries it should be charged every several months to keep the batteries from becoming un-chargeable. Since it is a sealed spill proof lead-acid battery like a car battery it does not have a memory nor will it be damaged by being topped off once in a while. It will die if left discharged for a long period. The manual can be found at

I already had a JNC 660 for my truck and wanted to put smaller units in each of our cars. I bought 3 of these, then 2 more for Christmas gifts. They are easy to use and much more dependable than the cheap imports with lots of whistles and bells.... I prefer the larger unit for my dodge 1500 with a V-8 (I've jumped it 5 or 6 times between charges without a problem... electrical trouble...) This smaller unit is great for our Toyota 4 cylinder cars and Chrysler Concorde with a 3.5 6 cylinder. These beat the heck out of jumper cables, and my daughter and wife don't have to ask strangers for help... or wait for AAA.

Buy Clore JNC300XL 'Jump-N-Carry' 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light Now

Changing my 1-star review to 3-stars. I purchased this unit but it wouldn't start my 1997 Land Rover Discovery V8 -at least not by following the standard directions. I spent over an hour with it over two days trying to start the car but it simply wouldn't turn over. This said, I was able to start the car using jumper cables connected to another vehicle, and AAA was able to start the V8 with a similar but larger portable unit. I finally called Clore Automotive Technical Support at (800) 328-2921. First off, they were super nice. They suggested that the JNC300XL may or may not work with a V8 truck, that a larger unit might be required, especially if the truck battery were completely dead. AAA had been out several days earlier, tested the Land Rover battery, so I knew it was OK, it was just low.

The Clore technician asked how I was connecting the unit. I said I followed the instructions, connecting the red lead to the red battery terminal and connecting the black lead to a non-moving metal engine part. He said, "There's your problem. You should connect both cables directly to the battery. They tell you not to do this in the directions, to avoid sparks, but it's what you need to do." I tried it and the Land Rover started instantly. So, it works and looks like this unit can save me in a pinch. I will keep it in my car from now on. I only wish the instructions included this extra bit of information, or what to do if the car fails to start following the standard instructions. If you have any issues, I'd recommend calling Clore Support.

GREAT PRODUCT! for the price.

I spent 2-3 hours on-line looking for what I needed. A Battery Jumper: 1) not too much money, 2)would help me start my car immediately...This accomplished both needs. This is the cheapest, most reliant item. Ignore the Black&Decker item. I read too many bad reviews.

I used this one 5 times (within 2 months) before I took my car into the shop to correct the REAL problem ---My real problem: I bought a cheap replacement battery.

This item saved me from having my Auto Club telling me, "SORRY, YOU HAVE CALLED US TOO MANY TIMES".

Want Clore JNC300XL 'Jump-N-Carry' 900 Peak Amp Ultraportable 12-Volt Jump Starter with Light Discount?

I wish all cars had auto shut-off feature so that it turns off the headlights and all electronics (except for door lock), so that if you forget to turn these off and remove the key, it wouldn't be sucking power off of your car's battery. My Mercedes would turn off the headlights and all electronics but my Honda would not. Having been spoiled by the Mercedes, I often forget to turn off the headlights and interior lights on my Honda, resulting in a dead battery.

Since I bought this jump starter, fortunately I didn't have to use it because I never ran into a situation. But just yesterday, I had someone walk up to me as I was proceeding to get into my car, asking if I had a jumper cable. I told him I had more than just a jumper cable and handed him this jump starter. Five minutes later, the guy came back very happy and told me that it worked on the first attempt.

Even though I had charged it almost 3 months ago, it worked on the first attempt which is reassuring. I didn't want to write a review of this product until I had tested it and now I am doing it because I do think this is a great product and can save you a lot of hassle. Please make sure to take it out to fully charge it every 3-4 months so you don't end up with a dead battery AND a dead starter.

***Update 09/04/2011***

Just to give you update, I have been using this product for more than a year now. I only had to charge it once. Its internal battery is just amazing if you're only using this for a quick jump-start every once in a while. I have used it at least more than a dozen times and it has always worked flawlessly. I last charged it several months ago and it still shows that the internal battery has enough juice to go on (two green LEDs).

Even after using it for more than a year, I am still raving about it. This purchase was well worth it and it has saved me a lot of time since I bought it.

This radio has the solid quality that you expect when you buy a Motorola Business Radio with more flexibility at the user level than Mot has offered in the past. With the FREE software from Motorola's website, I can select which 16 of 99 frequencies I want to use, I can change the CTCSS codes, and save different configurations. Since it can be programmed to work with repeaters, it is perfect for the 'ham' and GMRS repeaters while offering MUCH more reliable radio operation than the typical consumer radios offer. You get what you pay for...no excuses.

Want Motorola On-Site RDU4160d 16-Channel UHF Water-Resistant Two-Way Business Radio Discount?

This is a great radio for GMRS. All you have to do is contact Motorola and send them your frequency list and your license and they will send you the code plug. Buy the programming cable and download the free software from their website. You can set this radio up to use GMRS repeaters. Once you load the radio with your frequencies you can change the PL Codes from the front radio just like a bubblepack radio so you can use differnt repeaters that use the same frequency pair. Or you can just do it all from the software. The speaker is supper loud and clear for its size. Even if you turn it up all the way it's still clear. I was very impressed with its clarity. The mic is clear also and can be adjusted to three differnt mic gain levels. You can switch from repeater to direct easily by programming one of the buttons on the radio to do that. You can switch it from high to low power to conserve power. You can also set a scramle mode so that only other radios set to that same scramble code will here you. This radio comes with a high capacity Lithium Ion battery 2400 milliamps. I bought the rapid rate charger because it only comes with the slow charger.

I ordered this product for emergency purposes for our family.

Unfortunately, after multiple calls with Motorola and the FCC, the FCC says that this radio can only be used with a business license, and for business purposes. That means it's a complete no go for personal use (even if you are a business).

The FCC also noted that the information in the Motorola manual was incorrect wrt licensing: You cannot apply directly for a license, but instead need to work through an aggregator to purchase a license.

P3 Gold Positive (+) Battery Terminal Block

P3 Gold Positive Battery Terminal Block
  • Terminal type: Positive
  • Style: Block
  • Finish: Gold plated
  • Outputs: 1 x 1/0 AWG, 1 x 4 AWG, 2 x 8 AWG

Expected a quality part coming from Parts Express, but boy was I wrong. The gap in the clamp is too small, or is the hole to big, but it won't clamp down on the battery post. The battery is brand new. The block is junk.

I threw this away. Not worth returning. Stay away from these. They are useless junk. I may try to widen the slot, but this will ruin the finish, so what's the point. Garbage...

If I could have given it zero stars I would have.

Like it better than the platinum, has real gold plated finish. Most likely better conductor than most products you find. Best of all great price. Second time buying from seller. Buy the negatives for your positives post. I noticed that the positive terminal is to big for some reason

UPDATE: After having this for a month, for some odd reason the positive started to show corrosion. After sanding off parts of this I noticed the entire terminal is solid copper under the cheap gold plating. So the good thing is that its solid copper, but problem is starts to show corrosion fast...At this point not sure what to do.

The wire connections are great. My problem with this item, is that the post opening is way bigger than the positive post of my Optima Red Top batteries (yes, I am 100% sure I am working with the positive post). I can fit a flattened 4 gauge wire in the opening with the post, and after the clamp is closed all of the way, it is still not tight. Perhaps it is the batteries than have a smaller than standard post? In any case the seller is great will do more business in the future!

Black & Decker PI100AB Inverter

Black & Decker PI100AB InverterWe bought this to power our laptop and cell chargers while on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. This unit was compact and easily packed in with the laptop. It worked flawlessly and saved our sanity by giving the kids power to "entertain" for some of the less senic drive times. The only minor complaint is the cooling fan, it just added a little white noise noticable at less than cruising speeds. On the plus side it also reminded us that it was sucking power when we would shut down the car. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase.

I got this inverter elsewhere. I'm very happy with it, and I was very amused to see other reviews complaining about how noisy it is. This inverter will power my laptop just fine, as well as charge my blackberry via USB. The noise is acceptable to me. I'm a guy, and I like things that plug into power and make a whirring noise. It makes a whirring noise, so I know it's on, and the green light comes on when it's plugged in to let me know it's providing power to whatever I have plugged into it.

If you have a medium or larger laptop, heed my warning: If you're looking to charge your laptop from a dead battery, this will do it, provided you don't do something stupid like turn the laptop on while it's charging. You have a choice: You can keep the laptop powered by this inverter while your battery is at full power, or you can charge your dead laptop while it's powered off. You will probably ruin the inverter or pop its fuse if you try to charge your dead laptop AND power it at the same time.

I've had other inverters before and this one isn't louder than any of the other ones i've had. It does it's job and is cheap. It's nice to be able to charge my iphone and laptop at the same time.

I was planning to buy Car charger for my two cell phones, Ipod, Digital Camera Charger, video camera charger; but cost for each of them was a big factor, then i got to know about black and decker inverter; It solved all of my problem. The price is quite reasonalble.

Charges all of the device quite efficiently.

Advise, it has low hissing sound; so if you are listening to soft music with your ipod connected, it might spoil the mood. Incase of Ipod first charge it

Want Black & Decker PI100AB Inverter Discount?

Warning, the cooling fan inside this inverter is way too noisy to be used in a car. I can't believe Black & Decker can sell something like this without violating a noise safety level regulation, the fan is entirely too loud and the white noise it generates will slowly drive you crazy. It's especially bad if you have a dashboard where the 12V cigarette lighter is close to the steering wheel or heating/AC vents and not far from your ears, like I do. I used it during a 2 hour road trip and my ears were very unhappy by the end of the trip. No amount of music, road noise, or max fan speed setting on the AC could drown it out.

The physical design of the unit is great and the single AC and USB outlets are exactly what I needed. 100W is perfect for laptops, cell phones, and mp3 players, I've had no trouble using any of them with this inverter. I also like the way the neck bends 45 degrees in either direction, that helps get it out of the way somewhat (again, that depends on the placement of the 12V output on your dash).

I guess if your 12V cigarette lighter is near the floorboard this inverter might work for you, but the noise level of the fan is so bad that I would advise everyone to skip this and find something else.

I have become increasing aware of the number of catastropic weather events over the last few years, and find them alarming. I bought this so I would be able to tune into the TV networks when there was no electricity. Just two weeks ago, there were tornados in my area of Texas, and this was a great help in being aware of which areas were in the greatest danger.

It was easy to set up, and the picture is great as long as it's close to a window. I am very pleased.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas after seeing my brother-in-law's little tv. It's a great little buy for the money and you can also play CDs and DVDs. Great way for him to watch TV when there is no other tv around that he can control! Also great if the power goes out in your home since it's battery powered!

  • Plug never heats or overcharges the battery.
  • Short circuit protection. LED charging indication.
  • Can Charge Ni-Mh, Ni-cd and Li-Ion Battery.

It didn't quite fit my Magellen's plug in. It would only go in 3/4 of the way. So it wouldn't charge my Magellen 1475t. Good thing it didn't cost me much.

Actron CP9580A Enhanced AutoScanner Plus with Code Connect, Trilingual, OBD II, CAN and Expanded AB

Actron CP9580A Enhanced AutoScanner Plus with Code Connect, Trilingual, OBD II, CAN and Expanded ABS CoverageI have had this tool over a year now and before I bought it, I had read some reviews with bad comments about updating this product. It is a hard product to update but I have some information as how to update it. I got this info from actron's support people. I was told to go to otctools.com, select support and then downloads. When you get there you will find a drop down menu and you will want to select 3111 and down load it. Its a big file about 321 mega bytes. I ran the program with my actron cp9580 hooked up to my pc. I selected to update the Otc suite and It recognized my actron and updated to the 4.0 scanning suite found on actron.com. The whole otc program converted to the 4.0 scanning suite and I was then able to update my Actron. The update Is great because not only does it go to the later veheicles it will detect them automatically. I did this after spending a few hours on Actrons website downloading scanning suite 4.0 and following the details as how to update it there. Believe me this works. I went out and put it on my wifes car which is a 2009 and it detected her vehicle with ease and no more selecting domestic, year and make of vehicle etc. I have used this tool a few times now and it works great. My email address is rlg@yrless.net in case you may have any questions.

Nice product in many respects. I like the realtime data and the Code Connect features. Out of the box, the product will need updating and the complete manual(which does not come with the unit and must be downloaded) is sometimes incongruous with the ScanSuite instructions and what is indicated on the 9580A screen.

Furthermore, it has produced "undefined Diagnostic Trouble Codes". Undefined is right! I have a complete set of factory service manuals that have no reference to the DTC displayed on the 9580A and no forum I've found references it. After resetting the codes and performing the drive cycle, it would never 'make ready' one component and still displayed the undefined DTC; even after passing a state inspection where the print out said this component was 'OK' and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes existed. This was true whether I selected the vehicle from the 9580A predefined list or reverted to Global OBDII/EOBD settings. Fixing real problems is bad enough, but chasing down phantom codes and false "incomplete component' status indications can really drag you down.

I guess I'm kind of picky when it comes to tools and testers for my vehicles. I have a 2012 FORD F-150 (EcoBoost Engine), and really didn't "need" a code scanner to diagnose a particular problem. However I try to stay up with what technology is available for the backyard mechanic. Additionally, I have not had good experiences at the dealership as far as diagnosing engine issues. So my first line of defense FOR MY OWN KNOWLEDGE was to buy a good code scanner, that would tell me more than just what is causing the check engine light to display.

The Actron CP9580A Enhanced Scanner did just that. It goes WAY beyond the check engine light, giving you real time data on how your engine is performing . . . or not performing! And if a problem is developing, I would rather be proactive and do the research myself, rather than have the dealership tell me a laundry list of techno-talk that may or may not be entirely true. The Actron CP9580A Enhanced does everything it is advertised to do.

Worst case scenario . . .with the Actron CP9580A Enhanced and a little creative internet research plus some common sense, you should be able to understand what is ailing your car, and not appear like a total moron when you do have to go to the dealership. At best . . . with a little mechanical savvy and the Actron CP9580A Enhanced you will be able to do most repairs yourself, and perhaps proactively detect when something is going wrong before you get stranded. I would recommend the tool to anyone, and would buy it again. It worked perfectly on my truck, and I've already used it on several of my friends vehicles as well who were amazed by the "Code Connect" feature which tells you exactly what to do to fix the problem yourself, in EASY TO UNDERSTAND dialogue. It's a little pricey, but who wants to pay the dealership for a service and repairs you can do yourself. Save your money for a romantic dinner or new boots and a good haircut.

I like the scanner it worked just great, found the problem code po133 witch is O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 1, replaced the sensor and all's well. BUT I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THE SOFTWARE SCANNER SUITE 4.0.

loaded software and could not print from the printer.fixed printer, software hangs up windows 7.

i wrote tect support about the com ports messing up my computer and my printer not recognized by windows 7 .asked what to do and how to fix it so both would work at the same time.

why would you have a usb cable that has to work on a com port ,most new computers dont have serial port so the new scanners have usb cables..

and this is his responce "Not that I'm a computer genius, but my recommendation is to put your printer on the com port it originally was in" like i checked the ports before i loaded the scanner program come on men !!! if this is all the tect support you have we are in trouble

I bought the scanner to help me diagnose a "Check Engine" light warning on my 2006 Toyota Corolla. The scanner directions are adequate and the scanner is easy to use. The scanner read the ECU diagnotic code and advised that the issue had to do with a lean engine combustion issue. The scanner provided a number of possible scenarios that could result in this code. I went after the simplest first, which was cleaning the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Pulled the sensor, cleaned it.....problem solved for no additional cost. The scanner has more capability than I have explored T this point, but so far this device has met my expectations.

Custom Accessories 23516 Digital Clock Clear

Custom Accessories 23516 Digital Clock ClearIt's a nice little clock, but with some serious shortcomings. First, it uses a suction cup to attach, it would have really been nice if this was included in the description since for my purpose it will not work. Also and much more important is the fact that it is clear with black letters. If you are attaching it to anything with a black background it is absolutely impossible to see. Was really disappointed since in principle it is a nice little clock.

My husband needed a clock in the bathroom so he can know when he's taking too long to shave before work. It sticks to the mirror just fine and is small enough it doesnt get in the way at all. Exactly what we needed.

We put them on our bus windshields so the drivers don't have to take their eyes off the road while driving. Keeps them on time and safe. Works great.

I love this clock. It's great for the winshield because it's see-through. However, you can't see it at night. Still, I like it so much I'm getting another one for my brother's truck.

I wanted a little clock for my bathroom that wouldn't take up counter space and did not require putting a screw in my wall. This looked like a great option but it wasn't. The suction cup was malformed and would not stick to anything fell within 10 seconds of being put in place (even if I held it in place for 60 seconds, which has always solved my prior issues with suction cups). Also, the fourth time it fell (about 12 inches) the numbers stopped showing up on the readout, even though I went in and made sure the battery was still in place. I should have known better than to expect quality merchandise for $10.

As a side note, this clock is not ideal for sticking to a mirror the screen is entirely clear so you see the reflection of the numbers in the mirror as clearly as the numbers displayed on the readout. This would probably work better (if it would stick to something) on a wall.

Overall, there are better options. Don't waste your money.

Cobra XRS 9945 Voice Alert 15-Band Radar/Laser Detector with Full-Color DataGrafix Display, Digital

  • Energy certified
  • Portable design

Saved a tone of money with this. I'll be honest and I am sorry for this, but I do speed on freeways in America. Sorry, but in my opinion speed limits are way too low here. It's hard to drive on Autobahns with no speed limits one day, and then the next thing you know, you live in America and you have to live with 55/65 mph. So to cut the chase, I've purchased this unit to avoid tickets and to replace my previous lower end Cobra that had a lot of false alarms.

Summary:

Fake alarms reduced by 90% (besides funny moments such as warning me of Train and Railroad when going to Safeway)

Voice warning comes handy

Detects highway patrol/cops from far far away, including their most advanced guns, thus saving you a fortune.

Beware some officers know their job well: Will not protect you from those smart officers, who know how to ticket you by tailgating you. No detector will help you against that one. Trust me I got ticket that way.

Checked legality with friend of mine who is an Officer and found out that these are not illegal in California. BUT:Keep on mind that seeing one in your car will certainly NOT make Officer happy, and it WILL put you in A bad light.

To conclude: Well paid off investment. I was supposed to be ticketed dozen of times w/out this. At least I am honest and hope that helps. But don't be me. I still don't encourage you to you to speed and drive unsafely. Be smart, at the end of the day all that speeding, will save you only 2-3 minutes. I promise to change, too.

:)

P.S. If in need for speed: Go to the race track.

I can't justify paying more than $100 dollars for a RADAR detector. This one does the job fine. All RADAR detectors will give false alarms for door openers, etc., since they use the same frequencies. Also, officers have to have their RADAR on for your detector to work. Some of the reviews on here whined about police officers being right next to them and it not going off.

For a cheap RADAR/LIDAR detector, the Cobras work just like they should. They cannot do magic, and neither can the $400 ones. The only advantage to the more expensive ones are if they come with remote mounted (front and rear) sensors. Otherwise, it's the same technology for 4x times the price.

I recently took a 400 mile round trip with my Cobra and I was very pleased in fact it saved me twice from getting a $180 ticket so it more than paid for it self two times over. False alerts are very rare and it's very obvious by the strength that it's from a store. On a straight run on the highway I get about a two mile or more warning. On hills and curves that is cut down quite a bit but still enough time to slow down. I love the extra features like the compass and intellimute. The usb port for the gps module is great to have if I ever want red light camera capability. The size is a little longer that other radar detectors but the suction cup mount seems stronger that the $350 Escort I had and the unit does not shake like the Escort did. The coiled cord is nice and is a perfect length for my car. A long straight cord is available if anyone needs that.

Overall I'm very happy with the Cobra. It looks great and works great. What more can you ask for? Buy it. You'll like it.

(Update)

After enjoying the XRS 9945 for a couple of weeks I decided to get the red light gps module. Although I haven't taken any trips yet that encounter red light cameras, I really like being able to put in my own user alerts (up to 1000) and having my speed and more accurate compass available. I feel I have the complete package now.

(Second Update)

I don't know why people are bashing Cobra radar detectors. The XRS 9945 has worked as well as an Escort 8500 I had a while back plus it has tons of useful features. I read about a $500 Bell and how it knows the difference between non police signals and police radar (different freq's). My Cobra does that at one quarter the price. I had a low end Cobra from Walmart and a mid range Whistler and they were both junk. The only time they would alert to a police radar is when you were withing 100 ft. However they alerted to everything else. The Cobra XRS 9945 is not in that class at all. It is so quiet sometimes I think it's not working. It seems the way I have it configured, the only time it alerts is when it's a cop. Isn't that what we want from a detector? It is a quality, reliable product with tons of features for a great price.

I have been using this product for well over 3 months already n at first it was not senstive bit when I started to play around with the setting I found it to be very senstive... When I first got it had a hard time picking up the ka band. But since now I have set it up the right way. I usually pick up the ka band from 2 to 3 miles away. And the laser from a cop about a mile away. It's a really good radar detector and I recommend you to get it but I will say you have to play with the settings before you use it. If anyone has any questions just as me I'll glady help you out...

I got this radar detector after doing research on them for a few days. It was the best value out there for a radar that picks up so many different bands of radar. Thing thing has already saved me a few times from Sergeant D-bag. If you are looking for a good radar, then pick this bad boy up.

Note: Automatic doors may set off your radar. I get false alerts on city mode maybe 2 to 3 times a day in extremely busy areas with lots of stores that have automatic doors.
