While this air filter is used in some cars as a cabin air filter, in the 2007 Ford Escape hybrid it is used as the air filter for the hybrid battery (in the back of the car). While you could drop by your Ford dealer and pick up the same part (5M6H-19N619-AD) for twice the price, this Wix filter is of top quality and a perfect fit. Just as good as the excellent Ford part. [The complex hybrid battery has it's own heat/cool system.]

BTW, in the hybrid this filter should be changed every 25,000 miles or so. I waited 50,000 miles but by then the original was filthy and that tends to trip the Ford hybrid service-soon idiot light (a wrench). You can change the filter without tools. It is under a plastic cover on the left side of the trunk. The Wix filter includes air-flow markings, making it easy to install.

Other than that, it fits great into the rear battery A/C filter housing on my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. It does have a screen-printed set of arrows, telling you which way to position for correct filter flow which is a nice touch. The motorcraft filter I had didn't even label that.

Used this for a 2008 Escape Hybrid and it fit perfectly. This goes in the rear cargo area to filter air used to cool the hybrid components; very important job! It is at least as high quality as the OEM filter, maybe better. At half the price of what the dealer charges you cannot lose. Buy at least enough to get free shipping and save even more.

This is a great and useful product, but must be turned to European mode to reach 87.7 87.9 since for some reason Griffin thinks that they are not allowed to use these frequencies (they are).

On the FM transmitter box, push the middle button (Function) and then press and hold the "Mode" button (the right one) for approximately 10 seconds. When you let go you will see a menu for "Us" "Eu" "Ja", select the middle button, "Eu". Let the device sit for a few seconds until it goes back to the main screen, then tune your radio and the transmitter to 87.7 87.9! Now you can use the device on the frequencies that will rarely give you interference (I have the best luck in St. Louis with 87.7).

I have owned many Griffin FM transmitters for the iPod and iPhone over the years, and a couple from their competitors. I keep coming back to Griffin for their high quality products, which when properly used provide the best sound possible over an FM transmitter (even better than most wired FM transmitters).

Several reviewers have mentioned running the Roadtrip in its "EU mode," which is excellent advice. 87.7 FM is the going to provide the clearest frequency in most locales and almost all vehicles. Other FM frequencies' reliability will vary greatly based on the stations in your area and the sensitivity of your FM antenna. My wife's Griffin iTrip Auto FM Transmitter with SmartScan, for example, transmits flawlessly on 104.1 FM via her Subaru's head unit here in Seattle. In my Audi, only 89.1 and 89.3 seem to work with the same transmitter.

I am surprised that the product description and customer reviews fail to mention an excellent feature of this transmitter: RDS output. If your car stereo is capable of displaying RDS data (used by many radio stations to display station identification or song titles), the RoadTrip will display the artist and song name for the currently playing MP3/AAC. Not an essential feature given the easy access to the screen the RoadTrip provides, but it was a nice bonus I was not expecting.

My only gripe so far is how unreliably the RoadTrip engages with my car stereo. Sometimes, I find myself reseating the connection to my car's DC outlet over and over before the static is finally replaced by the silence of the RoadTrip transmitting on 87.7. I'm not sure if I just have a defective unit, or if my car is the problem. Besides this glitch, it works so flawlessly that I'm willing to overlook that one quirk.

Over all this is a nice looking device The transmitter works well in my Honda Ridgeline, it comes in as clear as any other FM radio station.

Griffen could be a bit more careful with the form and fit. One of the buttons was too tight and I had to cut it back a bit with an exacto knife to get it to stop sticking.

The one thing this unit lacks and it is not made clear in any reviews I read was that while it is true that it pauses the music when a call comes in and plays the ring tone over your car speakers it DOES NOT play the callers voice over the speakers. What an oversite on Griffin's part! The unit is really complete, except for being able to take a call through it.

Griffin if you are listening, I have no problem paying $60+ for this unit if I could hear the caller over the speakers and use either the iphones built in mic or a mic in the RoadTrip but as it sits now I am tempted to give it back. Just an FM transmitter is not worth this much money.

The numerous reviews on this product and the competitors are really helpful in making a decision; especially if you've tried to buy in a brick and mortar store. At least there are some opinions here. Key issues that got my attention were quality of the "arm" and functionality.

With the Griffin Unit you are getting very high quality. The connections to the Iphone is excellent and stays connected; the adjustable arm is excellent quality and stays put. With unit multiple "holders/connectors" come with the unit. Each one is specifically designed for each version of the Iphone, so you do get a perfect fit. Only draw back is none work with a case on the phone. Wish a larger version were available to hold the Iphone with a case on it.

The appearance of the unit is very good and does look like it belongs with the car; not factory installed but doesn't look like a cheap addition. Once connected this unit stays put: holds the Iphone and stays in position. You can easily work with the phone menu without removing the unit; it is very stable.

However as many reviewers have stated, if you are going to use this unit or any FM unit in a metro area there are going to be reception problems. Finding an unused frequency is a challenge. This has nothing to do with the unit; that's life in the big city. I'm in Atlanta; 87.7 works best in the City. But when you get near the large buildings, especially where construction is taking place, other personnel communication devices do come in. On the roads outside the areas of high density, unit works great.

Iphone does not like being attached to devices not sold by Apple, a few statements come up on the screen after connection; just ignore them or press cancel. I have been able to totally replace satellite radio with Internet radio. I'm sure AT&T is not happy with that; more use of the Iphone frequency. Pandora Radio works great and you do get the functionality of Pandora by signing in to your personal account and the service continues to "learn" your preferences. The like/dislike and skip functions are all available.

One aspect that I have found helpful in improving reception is that my audio system does "learn" stations; in that if reception is poor over a few minutes it will self adjust settings to improve strength. Usually within a minute or two if I have poor reception it improves very well. For those in a metro area just be ready for pops and crackles that will occur. You will not get CD or strong FM quality reception; outside metro areas reception is great.

I gave the unit 5 stars because the previous reviews seem to focus on quality, stability, and ease of functionality. The Griffin unit does not disappoint; pay the extra dollars. Have learned that a unit that "moves around" would be a major reception problem. The unit needs to be stable to maintain a dependable FM reception. This unit simply will not move, nor will the Iphone. Also it great holder for using the GPS features of the Iphone Apps. The flexibility of positioning the unit makes it very user friendly for the driver and passenger. Can easily change positions.

Just a final note, please remove this or any device like it from visible site when the car is parked. It looks very nice and expensive; a definite attraction for the opportunist car break-in types. It's really not worth a smashed window so someone can grab what looks like a really kewl electronic device. Makes for a very attractive smash and grab opportunity. This unit is easily removed and fits very nicely in a small place like a console or glove box. Please "remove and place the unit" outside of view when not in use; it really is easy and convenient.

Good luck and this unit only takes a few minutes to setup once you find a frequency. Instructions are very clear and easy to follow.

I have three cameras purchased directly from Korea before Amazon offered the product. The 16GB card at the higest definition is good for abot 4.5 hours of continuous video. I am using 32GB Class 10 cards because they last longer before automatically wrapping storage. Software is provided and has many features although anything that plays MP4 files can be used provided the camera is used in the upright mount. An inverted mount requires the BlackVue software to correctly orient the image. I am using the three cameras in four land vehicles and several aircraft. I purchased several additional mounts to easily switch between vehicles. Almost all vehicles are hard wired with additional power wires purchased from www.digikey.com The additionl mounts are pricey; about $20 each plus some shipping. Only disadvanage I see is that there is a boot time of about 30 seconds before recording and GPS lock. I do not use the parking mode. Much documentation is in Korean but an English language manual in pdf form can be downladed.

So far, I've been very pleased with this purchase, with ONE caveat (see bottom of review). Before this purchase, I had an Itronics ITB-70G Car Black Box Dash Camera, purchased in March. It functioned perfectly until dying in July. There was no warranty that I could find and the Korean company seems to have disappeared, so end of story.

I was reluctant to purchase a new one, considering the short life span of the Itronics, but really like the features on the BlackVue and hadn't read anything bad when I pulled the trigger.

Pros:

--The camera is small and unobtrusive. I've mounted mine just below the headliner and hard-wired it with cable that runs up the A pillar.

--HD looks very crisp. License plates are usually readable.

--Can handle up to 32GB micro SD card to maximize amount of footage (10 hours of full HD, 36+ hours on lowest resolution).

--Records in 1-minute segments that are categorized as 1) normal driving; 2) parking mode (when movement sensed); and 3) an incident happened strong enough to trigger the G sensor. When it goes into parking mode, the camera is still on but it doesn't transfer the images onto the card, thus saving SD card space (a great feature). Since it records in a loop and erases footage when there is too much data on the card, you can tell it to save the incident data/parking movement footage.

--Software program is great. Uses Google maps to track the location and has a myriad of settings, including different G sensor setting for the parking mode and driving mode (so every pothole doesn't trigger the sensor).

Cons:

--Gets REALLY hot. Almost too hard to touch camera after shutting down. Can't imagine what this does to SD card, which must sizzle inside this camera.

--Uses micro SD cards (Itronics ITB-70G used normal sized one).

--Recommends reformatting the SD card weekly.

--Lots of lights on camera. Big LED on end, blinking record button, GPS light. The default setting also includes an audible voice telling you when the unit is turning on, turning off parking mode, formatting the disk, etc. Luckily, most of these can be turned off with the software.

--Camera is a little difficult to release from base in car.

The caveat (for me anyway): I don't feel comfortable leaving this unit on in my parked car on really hot days (which is 3-4 months of the year here). I've read --after I bought this camera -that the performance of these BlackVue cameras will suffer under extreme heat and maybe even fail. On the few days I've left this camera on in the hot sun I haven't had a problem, but I don't feel like risking it. And, in truth, this camera is rated to 140 degrees Fahrenheit which a car parked in direct sun might exceed. I wanted a plug-in-and-forget-it unit, but instead I will only use the BlackVue certain times of the year and long trips.

UPDATE: October 10, 2012--I am pretty sure the BlackVue, which I had running night and day, killed my 3-year-old car battery. Even though I had it running through a device to kill power when the battery got low, my car, on two occasions, would not start in the morning. Took the battery to Sears and they said it was toast. My guess is that the constant draining (from the BlackVue) and recharging of the car battery eventually took its toll. I have rewired the unit to only operate when the ignition is on and have had no problems. And at least I can pretty much "leave it and forget it" now since the heat is no longer an issue. But beware of leaving this camera on when the ignition is off.

Only other issue: Had the camera freeze up on me once, but I chalk that one up to not having reformatted the SD card. Otherwise it has worked flawlessly. Still merits 4 starts in my book.

I purchased this camera when I went on a trip to korea. The camera works flawless and image quality is great. However after 6 months of use, the image became very foggy and blurry. The issue was that the camera builds up a lot of dust inside where the image sensor and lens meet.

Fix:

Remove the 4 rubber plugs on the back, then remove 4 screws. Pry open the case carefully. You will see the black lens tube attach to the board. There are 2 screws behind the board that holds the lens. remove screws and the lens will fall off... From here, get some alcohol and clean the lens and also the image sensor... IT WILL WORK LIKE NEW AFTER>...

I would give it full 5 stars if it was sealed for dust and moist, however I guess that sealing it will make it heat up more thus damaging internal chips. I don't mind opening it up and cleaning it though.. It basically took me 15 minutes.

I received the BlackVue on the expected date and it works well. I have never owned a dash camera before but this one is the most recommended by people. I records in high quality along with audio. It also has GPS that stamps the MPH and also the date and time. Using the software that you download from BlackVue site you can clearly view the recordings. The Google map feature is also amazing. My only complaint is that ii does not come with a suction cup holder.

The week after I bought the camera I got into a accident with another individual. The other guy rear ended me and took off. I followed him and finally he stopped and got out of his vehicle. He gave me the wrong insurance information and took off again. This time I did not follow him as I got his vehicle plate and his face on my BlackVue. I also got his passengers faces on my cam when the got out. I am glad I got this product ! Now I have the evidence I need and I have filed a report with the police.

I brought DR400G-HD first edition on 07/29/12 and DR400G-HD II on 08/04/12 from south korea on ebay for around 200 each. Since I parked my car on Chicago street, first edition was installed on car's back window and second edition on front window(Because supposedly new version better with heat issue). I had the parking mode turned on on both camera and I also installed Magic Power Pro so that it wont run down my car's battery.

From the last recording I see the first edition DR400G-HD short circuited on September 6, 2012 in the middle of recording. I couldn't start my car second day because my car's battery was died and I had to call a friend helped me jump start the car. My car's battery is only 2 months old from Walmart. I took it back to Walmart have it tested and car mechanic found battery good as new. Then I checked the camera and realize there is no response from the rear camera. So I concluded the first edition camera must short circuited my car's battery somehow at night time.

I checked the front camera which is DR400G-HD II and it still works but the video quality actually gone bad, the video's color looks all washed out, like there is weird 60's style color filter in front of the camera lens. I made a youtube video here(watch?v=LKRPp-bW3OY)

The warranty for both cameras is one year. So I went to PittaSoft's web site and found they really dont have department that handle warranty. There are only 2 emails: sales@pittasoft.com and product@pittasoft.com. I emailed them 3 days ago but haven't got any response so far. They are in South Korea so I can wait few more days. So if they ever respond I'll update here.

My conclusion is that the heat issue still big big problems for these cameras. The video quality is great while they lasted. Day time recording is clear as u can see. Night time recording is not too bad and it gets better when u near a light source. And the parking mode can record everything(biker, people walk by, kids playing, car parking). But the heat issue with the camera eventually killed one camera and damaged the lens on second edition camera. If u want longer use, u better turn parking mode off or park it somewhere cooler. Don't waste your money on these like I did. Not sure when they will ever respond to my warranty questions.

Update:(I can't believe they don't honer warranty of their own product, what kind of company is this?)

Battery was fully charged, installed in workshop with 60watt solar panel. Worked fine until last weekend. Paid $150 for a battery that lasted less than 6 months....All I was using it for was 2 lights that were only in use when I was in barn which is only on the weekends. Not impressed or happy....

This battery has been going strong since I bought it in August of 2011. It has performed well, discharging slowly as power is drawn from it at night and then recharging quickly when the sun comes up the next morning. It is installed on my 26 foot travel trailer. I use a single 80 watt solar panel connected to a 30 amp solar regulator to keep the battery charged up when it is installed on the trailer, and during the winter I remove the battery from the trailer, and I connect the battery to a battery tender in my garage. Schumacher SE-1555A Automatic Elite Wheel Battery Charger with Engine Start

This charger is incredible, most of these full chargers are dummy models that have at most a timer, if you're lucky. This has timer functions AND a fully automatic mode just like the small Schumacher smart chargers.

The 150 amp mode is well thought out not to destroy the charger and protect the user from themselves, here's how it works: You turn it to the 150A setting after hooking it to your vehicle as described. The charger will engage the 150A current once it detects the car turning over (voltage drop) and will continue to apply that current for 10 seconds (the display shows the count down). After the first application, the charger will do a 180 second count down to allow the unit to cool, and will then be ready for another application as needed.

All of this capability in a fairly lightweight, sub-100 dollar model? You can't ask for more than that in my opinion. This charger is awesome!

This charger works pretty well. The digital is great to have, the unit is lightweight, and the clamps seem durable.

The 150amp engine start mode will not start a car with a completely dead battery. It will only assist and start a car with a battery "just dead enough" to not work. It can be handy in a time of need however. The digital voltmeter is accurate, and nice to have when you don't want to get your multimeter out. It also is nice to see battery level represented as a percentage. I do wish it updated more frequently and sampled often however.

The unit also can have a tendency to overcharge small batteries if you hook them up on high charge rates. Example being a 26r group, a miata battery, lawnmower battery. Since it does not refresh frequently you will overcharge a small battery on 55a mode. This can be solved by pulling the clamps and re-seating.

It's impossible to short out and reverse clamp which is handy. The unit will not "spark" and charges a second or 2 after it detects the battery.

The sheet metal is very thin, and the edges are sharp. I recommend some auto store universal door molding on the edges to keep it from accidentally gouging your car.

If you remove the sheet metal and look inside the unit is 75% empty. It is very light and probably cased in a wheel around size just to prove it is made to compete with similarly sized analog units. There is a fan which can be quite loud when charging, and it seems like a small computer muffin fan type.

Assembly is fast, and packaging is well done.

Overall I am glad I went digital, I wish I opted for a 200a engine start unit, and I think the unit seems like it will serve me well for years to come. It isn't the best on the market, but it's the best I think I could have gotten for this price point. I like it and have charged MANY batteries so far in my garage.

I thought there would be more to this charger when I ordered it as in more functionality than a compact charger. However, this charger offers nothing more than what most of the more powerful compact chargers offer. All of the components in the cabinet of the SE-1555A could actually fit in a shoe box the cabinet is mostly empty space.

The 150 Amp start assist is slightly more than what is offered in most compact chargers but I have not been able to get the charger to deliver the assist as of yet. I am a military pilot by trade and it is common practice to use ground service equipment to power an engine start. This is done to greatly extend battery and starter motor life (for electrically started power plants) . I have used a Black and Decker compact charger with a 100 Amp boost for the past few years (on mornings I'm not in a rush), and it was useful in extending the life of my Die Hard battery. The B&D charger still works but I figured the start assist was not designed for every day use and therefore I bought the SE-1555A to take over the starting duties under the assumption the SE-1555A was more of a heavy duty charger capable of handling the daily abuse. However, this SE-1555A will not deliver the 150A (up to 150 Amp) starting boost unless it senses the battery is low and therefore it provides no starting utility if the battery is fully charged.

The overall construction of this starter is rather cheap as well. The fit and finish is poor what you might expect if it was built from scratch in a high school shop class (no offense to high school shop classes). The casing is cheap sheet metal with large seams, gaps, and the power transformer on the bottom of the unit was heavy enough to bend and distort the case during shipment. It is another example of a cheap product made under the name plate of a once reputable company. This unit was made in Mexico.

The product description states this charger has a battery and alternator tester. This is misleading as there is no separate diagnostic function to actually "test" a battery or alternator. The "test" procedures utilize nothing more than the voltage readout to determine if the battery/alternator are within a "normal" voltage range... they offer a very basic chart in the operating manual to help you 'determine' if the battery/alternator is "good". This is essentially useless beyond the most basic and simple "no kidding" the battery/alternator is well outside of a normal voltage range. Additionally, the voltage readout only reads actual voltage when the charger is not charging the battery. When the charger is actively charging the voltage readout displays "12" volts, and not what is actually being put out by the charger (which can go up to and over 16 volts according to Schumacher tech service I've seen as high as 15.83V using my multimeter).

A true battery and alternator diagnostic requires a load test which goes well beyond a simple voltage test. A bad battery and/or alternator can output the correct voltage, but will not support a normal load. The only way to truly determine if either are bad is to have a diagnostic load test accomplished. I have a group 51 battery sitting on my work bench right now that puts out 12.8 volts after sitting for a week but it will not start my easy to start Honda Civic VX (it will not hold a load). The SE-1555A was connected and apparently determined the battery only required a short charge cycle. After it showed the battery at 100%, the battery showed a voltage of 13.4V (well within the "good" range listed in the SE-1555A manual) but the battery would barely turn over my Civic two or three times and then would quit. I then hooked up the SE-1555A again and let it charge until it showed 100% (again)... it yielded the same results. I took the battery down to Auto Zone and they load tested it, and their true diagnostic test showed it was actually a bad battery. Long story short the battery/alternator "test" procedure is basically bunk on this charger.

Another issue with respect to the product description: The Schumacher customer service representative I spoke with stated it is not designed to charge AGM or gel batteries. This contradicts the product description on Amazon to which I brought to the attention of the Schumacher customer representative. She then informed me that I was mistaken and that the Amazon product description did not state it would charge AGM and Gel batteries... she repeated this to me as I was reading the product description directly to her from the Amazon page.

Overall, I am disappointed in this product. The $100 would have been better spent on a quality compact charger. I will be contacting Amazon to return the charger.

Shipping wasn't super quick, but it got here in a reasonable amount of time. It looks brand new and like it's OEM. Popped it apart, put in the chip from my old busted fob, put in a new battery, and snapped it back together. Works as well as the old one. If you break your fob, and you usually do by cracking off one of the key loops, this is the easiest, cheapest way to fix it. No reprogramming needed. Good deal.

This unit worked perfectly. I was able to take the old guts out of the broken remote and slipped them into this new one and was off and rolling in no time. This new one seems to work better than the old one because you get all new button keys. It was such a great deal I picked up two so now I have a spare for the future. I would defiantly buy from this company again. Sure beats going back to the dealer and paying a huge mark up for a new remote. Keep in mind this is just the outer shell so if you're remote is totally broken and won't even work out of the shell this is not going to help you. These seemed like a good set of ring terminals. But after getting them, they were too big and bulky. I ended up using copper lugs that I could solder wire into and even grind the rings down a little for a better fit. The craftmanship and machining of these is what caught my eye. However, the practical use for them was not very much, at least for my stereo setup. They're stuffed away in my misc. parts drawer with all my other connectors. I'll probably never use them.

Although the eTrexes were really designed for use in the outdoors, I use it in the car to help predict distance to go, etc., and if I have the local map downloaded to it, it has helped me out of binds on a couple of occasions. If you use it in the car, you really want this adaptor to save your batteries.

Not only will it save the batteries, but I can operate my Legend in normal mode to get better position from the WAAS data. (Battery saver mode precludes the use of WAAS and normal mode can really drain the batteries rather quickly.) (BTW, there is no scientific reason for reception to be better because of using this adapter.)

The cord is generously long. In fact, it can get in the way sometimes, but may allow the unit to be passed to the back seat so your back seat navigator can monitor it.

I have only two minor complaints. The first is the price. The Garmin Legend gives a lot of feature for the price, but Garmin seems to make up for it with the price of the accessories. It seems this adaptor should cost half what it does.

The second is that the fuse is accessed by screwing off the center of the cigarette plug, and the center piece has unscrewed itself on a couple of occasions now, leaving several small parts strewn about. I had to dig in my glove compartment this weekend for all of the little parts, and am waiting for the day I lose one for good. So be careful that the center is always screwed in.

I use this with the suction cup mount, which works quite well on glass. (But again, seems kind of expensive for what it is.)

This product is a must if you use your GPS in your car. It will save you many, many batteries. I like the quality. It feels solid. The LED on the lighter plug is useful. It indicates that you have power. The piece that snaps into the eTrex seems to connect well. It's never come unplugged after rolling around in my truck. The cord is plenty long for my needs--about four feet. My only complaint is the cost. The price was a little more than I would liked to have spent, but it's the only game in town.

All I require of this cable is that it plug easily into both my car and my Garmin Venture and then power my Venture. It does that swimmingly, just as it should.

The only aggravation has nothing to do with the cable: when you remove the cable, the Garmin will power down unless you hit a button telling it not to. I would often have the GPS hooked up in the car, get to the parking spot, then remove the cable in order to go and and get to the geocache. At which point the GPS would turn off (because I'd forget about the power down), and I'd have to wait around for the satellites to be found again.

This adapter puts my Garmin GPS unit into the computer connect mode, so it's not suitable for its intended purpose of providing power for use. Additionally the curly cord is too short. The seller authorized a return but will not pay for shipping. Shipping would eat up the refund, so it's a loss. Stay away from this one.

This charger does just what it should at a price that's far below the OEM cost. But the picture doesn't show how short the output cable is, only about half the length of the Garmin original. The cord is coiled, but it's quite stiff and doesn't stretch out too easily. Still, it was long enough for my small car; other users might find this too short for them. Also it's a straight plug for the receiver, while the original has a right angle one. This makes the plug stick out farther in the back. And coupled with the short cord, it puts some extra strain on the receiver power jack. I just needed to move the Garmin a little on the windshield, but again this may be a concern for some users. I docked this adapter a star because of these issues.

Other than the short cable, this is a great value. It powers and charges the receiver just like the original, and you can't beat the price. I have no idea how long it will last, but if I need to replace the charger again I'll probably come back for another of these.

Ordered this adapter to hook up a Tekonsha P3 brake controller on my 2005 Toyota Sequoia. Knew I was looking for a connector somewhere under the panel near the parking brake. Removed the panel and looked high and low in this tight space for a connector that would fit with no success. As I was about to give up and go to a dealer I noticed a possible connector which was mostly hidden under black electrical tape used to attach it to other wires. Removed the electrical tape from this bundle and sure enough there was a connector that looked like it would almost fit. Realized there was a blank part attached to the connector and once I removed it, my wiring adapter clicked nicely into place. Attached my P3 brake controller in the indent to the right of the steering column on my Sequoia and plugged in the wire to the back of my brake controller. Great to see it light up and it appears to be operating as advertised. Word to the wise. Look under the black electrical tape for the connector and save yourself a bunch of time.

Battery Tender 021-0128 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger

Every time I want to fire up my old 71 Datsun (that's Nissan for those of you younger than 30) 240 Z there's a good chance that the battery has drained down and that I can't start it! Looking around at car forums I read about this nifty little gadget....It's like a battery trickle charger....sort of. Whereas it's not recommended to keep a trickle charger hooked up all the time, this one has circuitry to limit the current and sense when the battery needs charging. It only charges at 1.25 amps which is easier on the battery.

I've had it on for a month now and it's great. The first couple of days, the red light was on indicating charging. Since then it's been on green and the car starts right up. I live in Houston where the heat and humidity can be just as brutal on batteries as the cold.

I highly recommend this "tender" for those that have cars that stay unused for long periods.

As other reviews have mentioned it comes with a set of adapters that allow you to permanently attach pigtails to the battery posts and then you can quickly connect the tender without having to use the alligator clips (also included).

For the price and free shipping you can't go wrong!

UPDATE after two years of use.

I can now reconfirm that these battery tenders work great I've had them hooked up continuously on two cars that stay in the garage a lot and I've NEVER had them not start right up. A quick glance at the LED display lets me know that the batteries are either charging or fully charged. It's a real pleasure to be able to go right up and enjoy your wheels without having to worry about whether the battery is dead. I can't say for sure, but I suspect that it lengthens the life of the battery as well.

I bought one, for my own use and spent much time reading Deltran's website, and the finally the info that came with the Deltran unit.

Over all, Works well, made well (vented metal case). I've been testing it on a 55ah AGM.

I have a lot of background in battery chargers. Based on my review of the unit I bought, I wanted to maybe offer some general practical help for those that can't find all the info they need for guidance before they but such a product.

The price at Amazon makes it worth it, but not list at the OEM's site. The OEM list price is pricey for the Battery Tender Plus, the Battery Tender Jr is about 1/2 (based on the OEM price), and can take care of much of the same duties.

While I've read all I could from their site, all their advertising pre-sale doesn't warn that it may not charge a large cell that has been properly discharged. Once I bought my Battery Tender Plus, I found liteature comes with the charger that warns you of this..

I figured as much and bought it as a compliment to my smart bulk chargers that aren't good maintainers. The reason.......

If the power is interrupted on any of my bulk chargers, they don't come back to the correct profile, just the profile for 2amp charge for a wet cell general. Not the AGM profile.

The Deltran being a dedicated maintainer doesn't suffer from this problem.

If the power was to be cycled, it would just go through it's profile again. And since it's such low current, no harm.

These Tenders are Great for when the bulk charger is taken care else where on the larger RV, boat, or secondary car battery. Your primary car battery is charged by the alternator, and when you store the car you need to take care of the self discharge issue and any parasitic loads that will discharge your car's battery while in storage... the Battery Tender Plus is great for that.

As well as the Battery Tender Jr, if you have very little or no parasitic loads.

(if your parasitic loads are too great, you may need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle for storage if the parasitic drain/loads comes close to the tender's rating, it wont do it's job and your battery wont be a happy battery)

I've been testing the Battery Tender Plus on my optima AGM, and on maintenance float, the battery is only pulling a .01a at 13.2vdc. Just right. The profile was just about perfect, per optima's spec and other AGM's spec, and perfect for wet cells (normal car batteries).

If you have larger parasitic loads, the Battery Tender Plus (1.25a) will be a better choice. But if you pull your battery lead of have little or no parasitic loads, the Battery Tender Jr will work well and save you money over the Battery Tender Plus.

(Again, remember if your parasitic loads are too great, you may need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle for storage if the parasitic drain/loads comes close to the tender's rating, it wont do it's job and your battery wont be a happy battery)

For a motorcycle battery, the Battery Tender Plus is probably the end all charger.

But for the larger batteries, neither Tender will serve as a bulk charger. To protect your battery investment, get a good smart bulk charger (not the cheapo dumb bulk chargers) with the right profiles, and use the Deltan Battery Tender Plus or Battery Tender Jr for storage.

After the testing I've done (monitored and recorded voltage, current, and temps to see what the profiles are of the chargers), for my storage use, I could have gotten away with the Battery Tender Jr @.75a, for my storage "tender" of a single 55ah optima agm battery.

I recently purchased a Deltran Battery Tender Plus (they are made in China) battery charger for a total cost of $63.30. It has never worked correctly from the first day I got it. It charges great, but it never goes into the "storage" mode, or notifies you that the battery is at 80% charged. It apparently just keeps charging the battery whether it needs it or not.

I contacted Deltran's "technical" department a few times about the problem, and told them that I suspected the charger was faulty, but they kept telling me it was the battery, or "check this" or "check that" or "the weather was too cold" (in Florida), even though I had told them the battery was new. So, figuring they knew what they were talking about, I purchased another brand new battery at the cost of $79.92.

I left the "new" battery on this charger for a few days, and it was the same thing as the "old" battery. The charger never showed a full charge or went into storage mode.

So now that the equipment that this battery is from has been out of service for a couple of weeks, (because Deltran recommended I remove the battery from the equipment since I was having a problem charging it), and I couldn't afford to fiddle around any longer, I bought a competitors battery charger for $46.45, and as it turns out after connecting the new charger, within a matter of a few minutes both the "old" and the "new" batteries showed fully charged, and the new (competitors) charger went into "storage" mode with no problem.

Now that I knew for sure that this Deltran Battery Tender Plus charger was not working properly, I reviewed the Battery Tender Plus "LIMITED" 10 year warranty, and found out they (Deltran) wants a $9.95 "handling" fee (if you have had the charger over 90 days), and if you have the original sales receipt, if you want to send it in for repair.

If you don't have the original receipt, then it is a $15.95 "handling" fee no matter how long you have had it.

Having wasted about 2weeks fiddling with 2different batteries and 2different chargers all because the Deltran Battery Tender Plus did not work correctly in the first place, I am not about to spend another $15.95 "handling" fee (because I don't have the original receipt) plus shipping (maybe $10.00) to return it to Deltran for exchange/repair, and then wait another week or two to get the charger back and have to hope that it now works correctly.

Deltran also told me that since I did not buy the Battery Tender Plus in question directly from them, I would need to send it back to where I originally purchased it. Not having the original receipt (because I bought it someplace online and don't remember where), I asked Deltran what's the difference where I purchased it since they (Deltran) are the manufacturer and supply the warranty as well, and I was told that "it is the same as trying to return a Chevrolet to a Ford dealership". That I don't understand, because if a person has a problem with a Chevrolet, they can take it to any Chevy dealer in the country and have it fixed (and maybe any GM dealer).

They also said in so many words that I should have known sooner that the charger was defective, which must mean that their "technical" department is not fully competent to be advising anyone, and that I should have not paid any attention to their suggested remedies in the first place.

Because of the investment of time and money I now have in this Battery Tender Plus, and the poor "technical" support I received from Deltran, I would never buy another one and would not recommend it to anyone else. Their 10 year "LIMITED" warranty is also a joke. Battery Tender PlusSucks! It should be called Battery Tender Negative!.

I am fortunate enough to maintain two houses one in the mid-West for the summer and a second one in the Palm Springs area for the winter. Rather than drive 1500 miles each way I have a couple of cars in each location so each set will sit idle for six months of the year which means I usually have two dead batteries when I arrive for the season. I tried a cheaper brand of trickle charger in the desert last year and it worked but I was afraid that if it burned out I would still return to dead batteries. I really like the quality of the Schumacher products having two of their multifunction battery chargers that have worked well for over 10 years. When I saw that they offered high quality trickle chargers I bought two of them to make the switch to worry free charging. The chargers are well built and heavy for their size and the build quality is typical Schumacher. The chargers are intended to be installed in the engine compartment with battery connections that are permanently connected to the charger and for power a short plug comes out of the side of the unit and is easily connected to a grounded extension cord. I really didn't want to install these under the hood even though they supply the mounting brackets and screws required but I did like the idea of the permanent connection to the battery as opposed to a clamp which could fall off in the middle of the season and leave me with a dead battery. Remembering how the chargers connected in the Power Wheels toys my sons had several years ago, I was able to find polarity keyed plug connectors in the trailer wiring section of the local auto parts store and now have a short pigtail permanently connected to the battery and the ability to plug and unplug it into the charger when I want. Now I have the best of all worlds, the security of a solid connection to the battery and the flexibility of being able to plug and unplug the charger with ease. I like this a lot.

I installed this in one of my SUV's that is not driven for weeks at a time.

The Schumacher unit keeps a perfect charge and does not overheat or dry out the battery. The clock, radio, and GPS settings are all preserved and the charger does not seem to draw much power when the battery is charged. I am very satisfied with the operation of the unit.

The installation was a breeze with the included hardware and the instructions were clear and easy.

I do have two small complaints, however:

(1) The battery lugs were way too big for my vehicle and all other cars that I checked.

(2) The AC plug is too short to run anywhere. I wanted the plug to reach to just outside the vehicle's grill, so that the unit could be plugged in without opening the hood. I had to install an extra extension cord for that purpose.

Good product. 4 stars b/c the manual is misleading. There is a table that tells you what the lights mean, but it is hard to understand. I'll translate: If top light is green and bottom if off, the battery is charging. If the top light is green and the bottom light is red, you battery is charged. If the top light is off, then the unit isn't getting power from the wall. Funny how this crucial info is so messed up in the instructions. Happy charging!

I had a problem. A very bad car accident left me partially disabled. So these days I do very little driving. Just getting to and from the store and that's about it.

The problem I had is that I seldom drove long enough or far enough to fully charge my car battery, and on more than one occasion I'd get in it to go somewhere and the battery would be dead.

I've used a number of trickle chargers in the past. But there's the problem of digging them out and unhooking them when the battery is ready.
