Recently I decided to replace my old car stereo with something a little more contemporary. While researching stereos I stumbled across articles claiming that capacitors would eliminate the dimming of headlights. Since the stereo was going to be installed in an old school muscle car, it seemed that some capacitors would lesson the strain on the battery and alternator. I chose the Boss 10/20 capacitors, since they were economic and offered the most farads. After placing the order I saw the reviews of similar Boss capacitors; talk about bad reviews!! Those other reviews had me regretting my decision, since customer reviews persuade my decisions, more so on unfamiliar products.

Now for the facts:

1. Everything required to install the capacitors was included. I used longer screws to secure the capacitors, since they were installed in a car with a large amount of hp and torque.

2. Boss includes a small transistor to charge the capacitor before being attached to the battery. I read that the voltmeter on the capacitor would increase once the circuit was completed, which didn't happen. I used my voltmeter to validate if the capacitors were taking and holding a charge, which they were. I charged both capacitors to 12 volts before attaching the positive terminal.

3. After attaching the positive terminal I checked the battery volts and the capacitors, all three were at 12.5 volts. I turned the ignition switch to the on position and everything lit up, including the voltmeters. I validated the volts on the capacitors with my voltmeter and all three meters were identical.

4. I installed the 10 farad capacitor to a 400watt amp and the 20 farad capacitor to a 500watt amp. With the engine running and the system at max volume the lights did not flicker one time. With the engine off the lights did not even dim. I biggest test for my vehicle was to start the vehicle after allowing the stereo system to run without the motor running. My motor has a higher compression and needs every drop of power to start, which it did without issue after allowing the stereo to run solo off the capacitors and battery.

5. This is the first time I have ever installed a capacitor and it was way too easy to do the installation. I have only had the capacitors installed for five days and unless they melt down in a week or two, I must recommend them with five stars. They work, they didn't break, all the lights/voltmeter work, and they offer large amounts of farads for a decent price.

This capacitor was super easy to install. Comes with all the stuff you need. Is really cool when it's lit up and and the digital gauge is pretty neat to. Charging it before installing was really easy too. Just follow the directions. Completely stopped my headlights and gauges from dimming and my subs and all around stereo is much cleaner and crisp. Awesome product at a great price. Just purchase the right size for the amp that you have. Another post and a little research showed me that for every 500 watts you need 1 farad in capacitance. You can't have too much capacitance so being that my amp is a 2000 watt amp I bought the 10 farad, Good luck with whatever product you purchase but I have had good success with this one and believe it's well worth the money.

I put this in today and wow! What a difference! I've almost maxed out the gain on my system as a whole and it sounds (&feels) great! And the low voltage sensor is a good feature too...if only you could adjust when it starts to warn you... I really recommend buying this item its a great addition to any audio system.

I installed this unit in my 2009 Subaru WRX. I removed it and returned it after 3 days.

The good:

-It has a good amount of power. I ran this to my stock speakers and they sounded much, much better than they did with the factory receiver.

-Good build quality. The physical unit feels well made. Mechanical flip face works smoothly, buttons and volume dial feel solid.

-It's cheap.

The bad:

-iPod integration is terrible. There is no way to easily scroll through artists/albums etc. You have to click an arrow to flip through each individual entry. This is OK if you have a couple albums on a nano, but not OK if you plan to connect an iPod with a large library. Finding an artist beginning with 'N' took close to 100 clicks with my full 120GB iPod classic. And if you want to go from Nelly to Nirvana, you have to start all over from 'A' again.

-Poor screen resolution. Font edges are jagged.

-No dimmer. It has a dimmer connection wire, but it did not work on my unit. The screen was at full brightness at all times, and the manual dimmer control did not work either. At night it was like having a spotlight in my dash.

-Restarts between sources. Every time you change sources, the entire unit restarts. Screen shuts off then on and everything. It doesn't take too long, 3-4 seconds maybe, but it is rather odd and obnoxious. I took the whole thing out to check for a loose connection when it first happened. Called Clarion about it and they said it is normal operation.

-Navigation. The specs list this unit as being compatible with an optional navigation unit. However, the only input for the navigation unit is a component video connection. So if you were to connect navigation, the VX409 would only serve as a monitor, and you would not have touch screen control of anything.

Overall, the actual physical unit could be quite nice. However the software feels like going back to using Windows 95.

The VX409 is a great unit, but for the price, you'd think you would get a lot more.

The Positives:

-The unit makes your factory speakers sound way better. I installed it in a 2000 Honda Accord and had no idea that my speakers could sound that good.

-The motorized fold down screen is awesome. It looks good and is very smooth when it flips down. I expected it to be jerky or sound labored (like other units I've seen) but it simply works and works well. The touch screen responds well to touch whether the weather outside is cold or hot. Also, when the screen is cold, it doesn't lag like I've seen in other units.

-The EQ controls are as easy or as complicated as you want them to be. It's a good unit for beginners or for higher-level installation.

The Negatives

-The software is awful. There is no room for any customization other than sound (which I guess is what really matters, but other things are nice). Another problem is that any time you change from one interface to another, the unit does a small reboot. So if I change from watching a DVD to listening to the radio, I push the mode button and wait for it to reboot into "A/V Input", then through "iPod" and then finally to radio. It takes a while to get to anything because of the constant rebooting.

-The settings menu seems to be its own program on this unit. That is a problem when you're listening to music and then you have to adjust the sound, so you exit the music (which stops playing at that point), boot up into the settings menu, change your settings, then enter back into your music and check the settings. The whole process should be integrated but it's not. Changing and checking one setting takes about 2 minutes due to rebooting.

-Due to legalities, this unit will not play DVDs while the vehicle is moving. They do this by requiring you to hook up a wire to your parking brake. I don't have a problem with this except that I bought this unit so I could send the video signal back to TV headrests for long trips with my kids. This can't be done without buying a small "cheat box" that gives your unit a false parking brake signal and making it work. This of course makes your unit operate in an illegal way and can get you a huge ticket in some states.

-For the love of God, don't set a security password on this thing. Brand new, out of the box, I put a security password on it. It was the same password I use on EVERYTHING so I know it wasn't user error. Long story short, the unit locked me out after three attempts, went into a 24-hour lock out mode, then gave me three more chances to get it right, then went into a permanent lock out mode. After 2 weeks of wresting with Clarion customer service, the whole unit had to be reset.

I love this unit now that I have worked all of the kinks out using aftermarket products and cheat boxes but I don't think I should have to do that after spending $600 on a product. There are tons of units out there from companies who have learned to integrate all programs to work together and also integrate your portable music. This particular Clarion unit has failed to do that. I recommend finding a unit that does.

For the price of this unit, there are far better choices that the vx409. Despite the fact that the unit has added features that you may purchase such a IPOD adapter, bluetooth adapter, and navigation. The controls for these options seems like an after-thought, meant to push more units out the door and make it sound feature rich. The add-ons offer little in terms of seemless user interface. The unit takes a good 3 seconds when switching between different sources, even more when it is trying to decide if the CD you put in is actually a dvd, cd, or mp3s. There are 4 EQ selections and the only changes you can make is the fader, bass, and trebble.

Very nice stereo, would be nicer if the instructions included were clearer and made more sense but they don't. I don't beleve I can use this stereo to it's fullest potential because of this fact. It has noce features but needs a usb port and sd card slot to be complete. Not very customisable. That is all it really lacks to be complete. Put it short this is just another stereo and nothing spectacular...... Easy installation for the mechanically inclined...

This works pretty well, and considering the dearth of accessories around for the Gigabeat, you have to take what you can get.

It works really well if you only use it as an FM transmitter or battery charger, not both at once. However with the power and audio cords plugged in, there is a distinct high frequency whine. It you're travelling at highway speeds, you probably won't notice it over the noise of the engine. But it seems to vary based on engine speed, so during a stop-start drive around the suburbs you will notice it. It's a pity they couldn't have filtered this noise out, especially since it's "second generation", so presumably someone would have noticed this before.

It's built pretty well and I like the idea that I can get other tips in the future to use it for other music devices or phones.

Last year I got my wife a vehicle alarm mostly for the remote start and had it professionally installed. Naturally, I got stuck with the extra remote (short range, 1 way). Husky Liners Custom Fit WeatherBeater Rear Cargo Liner for Select Kia Sorento Models (Black)

Bought this for the 2011 Kia Sorento with 3rd row seating. When it arrived it came rolled in a long box. Unrolled it, cut out the tabs in back, and installed it. Let it sit out in the sun with a few things holding it down and it unrolled beautifully. The fit and finish are second to none. The durable heavy duty plastic seems to hold up very well. I have taken it out and rolled it back up more than a few times to use the rear seats and every time it goes back in without any problems.

I have used this to tote grass clippings, baby strollers, groceries, tools, and on one occasion a whole pig for a pig roast. I haven't been able to dent, scratch, tarnish, or bend the liner. It just works, and it was about $25 less than the competitors product which is made of rubber for non stick properties but will not last as long as this one will.

The only downfall is the design. Not a big fan of the flowing wide stripes but it is what it is. A great product and truly recommended to anyone who is in the market for a cargo liner for their 2011 and up Kia Sorento.

As others have noted, Kia does not offer a cargo mat for the 7 passenger Sorento that fits behind the second row of seats. And since the configuration of the rear wheel wells differs slightly between the five and seven passenger models, the five passenger KIA cargo mat cannot be used.

In effect, consumers have a choice between the Husky cargo mat and a more expensive alternative from another well-known third-party manufacturer. The Husky mat is significantly less expensive its competitor (less than half the price on Amazon). As other reviewers note, the fit is close to perfect though it may take a while for the mat to "relax" sufficiently to conform exactly to the floor of the cargo area.

The mat is a very stiff "plastic" material that arrives rolled up in a packing box. After unrolling it, we laid it flat in the sun and weighted down the edges for several hours. That helped to flatten it but four days later it still has some residual "curl" when placed in the vehicle.

It appears to perform well in limited use (so far). The curled edges are high enough to catch liquids that spill on it. The material itself is rather "slick" (not like a rubber mat.) That may be good for sliding heavy cargo into the rear of the vehicle but it's less than ideal for our large dog. Our mat was available only in black (and perhaps beige) from Amazon though I believe Husky may offer a mat in gray, as well. The black plastic material does show every footprint (human and canine) but it's easily cleaned with a damp cloth.

All in all, I'd rate it as a good value though not necessarily as a top notch product for a "dressy" SUV. Husky's products are typically aimed at protecting pickups and other work vehicles and I suspect this cargo mat will stand up relatively well for our use. On the other hand, I wouldn't characterize its appearance as more than utilitarian. (Husky makes floor mats for the first and second rows of the Sorento, as well. We have decided to return those items purchased at the same time as the cargo mat primarily because they detract from the look of the vehicle.)

Vector VEC010S 300 Amp Jumpstarter

This is a nice unit for starting cars, as noted below. But it may be too small for some other 12-volt applications. The lighter-socket outlet will shut off if you exceed 5 amps of continuous draw, and the unit can only store a few "amp/hours" of power. If you need something for overnight use or to do much more than charging a cell phone, you might need a larger unit.

It works fine for starting cars, though. This appears to be identical to the Vector VEC010BD, which sells under the Black and Decker label. B&D has more recognition, I've seen this one (the Vector brand) at some auto supply shops, as well as here on Amazon. So you get the same product, no matter what the label or where you get it.

My neighbor had one of these, and I borrowed it several times to start my car, which was otherwise totally dead. It worked perfectly, even when the unit wasn't fully charged. So I bought my own, charged it overnight as per the instructions, three hours past the blinking green. (Note: the brief manual is very well written, and should be easy to follow.)

For some reason my car would not start right up, as it had the other times with my neighbor's jump starter. The car turned over and over, but wouldn't kick in, and the effort drew down the jump starter's cranking power completely.

The instructions tell you to wait a little when this happens, so I did. After a few minutes, I turned it back on, tried again, and the car started. I don't think it was a matter of a flooded engine, which one might suspect. Just a curious sort of process.

I recharged the Vector unit completely again, and the next time I needed to jump the car, it was instantaneous. I performed multiple jumps without needing a new charge. So, I don't know whether there is anything special about the first time, because every other time I've used it, it has been great.

If you do want it mostly for jump starts, and do not expect to need it as an "emergency power" source for long hours, or to run any kind of serious appliance, it is a fine choice.

This thing rides around in the back of the SUV and does a lot of bouncing around. Very tough. I originally bought it for the boat. Yes it worked for that, that was like 4 years ago. I have only charged it up like twice in all these years. It has always worked. Generally the battery level will show 2 lights. I used it like 8 mos ago for some nice old guy in a parking lot at middle school. I am happy to not have been embarrassed. I had to use it the other day for myself. Worked like a charm, and no, I never charged it up after helping the guy at middle school. Still has 2 lights on.

If you are looking to keep your celly charged up while camping I recommend finding a camping spot out of cell range. Otherwise, charge your celly off of your car. If your car dies you can use this to get car going again.

Had one of these units for a few years, but didn't experience a battery problem until recently. When I attempted to connect the unit to my battery, the positive jumper clamp (plastic) snapped in half, rendering the unit useless for its intended purpose. An examination of the negative clamp revealed that it was heavily cracked also, and would have given way in short order as well. Given that I'd never even used the jump starting capability of the unit before, I'm going to chalk this up to the use of cheap materials. As such, it's hard to recommend.

The compressor and power output functions seemed to work as intended however.

I can't find these plugs in the stores and was so glad that this was availavle. Other universal adapters I have got never work; either they don't fit or just doesn't provide the power necessary. Works great inside parking garages, but static in open areas. Works better on thriving stations than lower stations. It's ok.. doesn't work all the time. If you looking to use it constantly, I wouldn't suggest it because of how it works for me. I had a similar one before that I loved and thought it would be like that, but no.

Husky Liners Custom Fit Front and Second Seat Floor Liner Set for Select Toyota Venza Models (Black)

These protective liners were not offered when I bought my new Toyota, but I needed to protect my floor mats because I live in a rural area and step into dirt/mud frequently. I searched all over, and found these liners on Amazon for much less than other online retailers. Also purchased a liner for my cargo area and got both front mats, rear passenger mats, and the cargo liner for less than what I'd have paid for the passenger liners only on other sites. They fit perfectly in my vehicle, and they won't move. The conformal raised edges are the reason why I wanted them so that when you do get water, snow, mud, ect in your car it'll stay on the mat and you can pour it out without it ever touching your carpet.

My problem with them is that they feel cheap. They're just plain injection molded plastic, and they're kinda slick, so they might be slippery. I guess I was expecting them to be made out of rubber. I was expecting a higher quality product for the money I paid, but I know they'll at least do the job.

I have owned Weathertechs before for my Sienna and let me tell you I wish this ones were around when I got those.I am using this ones now on my Venza and I think the price is right, they fit way better and look about the same. Some one here mentioned that the quality of the material is not so good and is true, they feel somewhat thin, but when they lay down on the carpet, it feels good. The sides that protect from spills are way better than weathertech's because they are more rigid and no flimsy. Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Lets see about durability later on...
