Tekonsha 7000 12 Volt 3 Terminal Battery Isolator

Tekonsha 7000 12 Volt 3 Terminal Battery IsolatorI have installed many solenoids and isolators and recently tried this one. I installed this one and after 2 days of use the top of the unit (the small circular disc on the top) blew apart and the plunger popped up and grounded the battery against the housing this started an electrical fire in my engine compartment, luckily I was able to get the fire out and pull the solenoid plunger out fast enough to prevent further damage. This product is extremely unsafe and you risk starting a fire in your vehicle, which could lead to a forest fire, house fire or even death. The problem is that the top of the unit is not crimped or welded on properly, which can cause the solenoid to pop up and fall back down grounding our power source. I will be letting Amazon know that they are selling a dangerous product. Of note, I am an experienced mechanic and showed this failure to two other mechanics none of us have ever seen this happen to a solenoid before. It is hard to imagine a product could be make with such low quality.

I paid over $100 for the nearly identical solenoid about 15 yrs ago. Laid side by side, I can't see a difference, and if these last as long as the old one, they're a heck of a deal. My only complaint is that they (ordered 2) were shipped loose in a flat rate box. They were packed with an "airbag" which couldn't stand up to the terminals and deflated at some point. There were numerous holes in the box from the terminals, but the solenoids survived. A testament to the physical durability of these solenoids. Buy em!

Purchased this as replacement solenoid for my RV about 5 years go still working fine. What more can I say?

The solenoid I purchased from DamLow Prices arrived in a bubble padded envelope. Two of the terminals had come thru the bag and were exposed. The worst part however, was that there was NOTHING on the bag the solenoid came in or the solenoid itself to indicate manufacturer, model # or even a "made in XXXXX" stamping or label. It is a solenoid....I can see that, but aside from that you can't tell what the heck it is. Something like that is not going into my truck's electrical system. I'll buy a real Tekonsha somewhere else. It cost me half the price of the item to mail it back. A lot of junk from outside sources on Amazon lately.Tekonsha 7000 12 Volt 3 Terminal Battery Isolator

Monster 200 Crimpable Ring Terminals (8-gauge, 5/16" stud)

Monster 200 Crimpable Ring Terminals
  • Durable crimp style cable to terminal fastening
  • Designed for easy connection to 4 and 8 gauge power cables
  • Designed to fit nearly all battery terminals
  • Solid brass construction with 24k hard gold plating
  • 24k gold-plating

2 for $3.50 seems a bit expensive, must be the 24K gold plating.

They were easy to use and made a good connection, that part was great.

I bet these cost pennies to make.

If you need a lot of these it can add up.

Buy Monster 200 Crimpable Ring Terminals (8-gauge, 5/16" stud) Now

I wanted to hook up a converter in a car. Bought one and some 8 ga wire. When these showed they were surprisingly tough. It would take a vice of a real good size pair of pliers to crimp these. I just stuck the wire in and filled with solder. VERY solid connection. I did find my battery terminals use a 3/8 " bolt though. So on two of them I had to ream the hole out a little but it was easy to do and they are working great. These are not some flimsy thing you can easily bend, they are well made.

Read Best Reviews of Monster 200 Crimpable Ring Terminals (8-gauge, 5/16" stud) Here

I can't really imagine better quality materials for a ring terminal. I can say that the design isn't quite perfect though.

Regarding their "rating" or durability: they're more than adequate for the rated gauge wire. The simple fact that they are so thick you have to labor to pinch them tight is a testament to their build. I cannot imagine these not being up to the task for any reason.

Now, the one negative to me is the design, and essentially their are two choices for this type of connector: open and closed (this product).

I prefer the ones with the open end that the tip of the wire protrudes through. That type allows me to crimp half of the connector at a time and leaves the wire in a more round shape vs this closed type that flattens completely leaving a little metal on each side of the wire. Shrink wrap improves the finished appearance significantly, but overall, the open looks better and is slightly easier to use.

If you don't have access to the open ended terminal connectors, I still highly recommend these.

Want Monster 200 Crimpable Ring Terminals (8-gauge, 5/16" stud) Discount?

I ordered numerous of these items of different gauges and it appeared they put more money into the package to look flashy vs. the quality of the terminals. They were very light weight and by no means were they rated for the gauge wire which they were sold. I'm using these in non-car audio applications, but regardless of the application, none of the monster terminals were rated at what they were sold for. I ended up buying some non-monster terminals and have since thrown these away. They were useless.

Corey

dont be fooled by the # 200 thats not the number of ring terminals you get, you only get 2...very disappointed.

Fosmon Car Mount Cell Phone Holder for the HTC EVO 4G LTE/ONE - Black/Silver

Fosmon Car Mount Cell Phone Holder for the HTC EVO 4G LTE/ONE - Black/SilverFor the money, this was a pretty decent phone mount. I've owned it for about 3 weeks now; no loss of suction from the suction cup, the mount holds a Galaxy SIII (even with a case on it), and it's easy to adjust for other phones/devices. Also, it comes with a vent attachment, which is nice. The adjustable neck is stiff enough to hold its position, but that's where my problem lies...

The issue arose where the neck of the mount attaches to the suction cup portion. It slowly started to loosen when driving, to the point where the vibrations from driving around cause the mount & phone to shake constantly. It became annoying because my phone wouldn't be still unless I stopped driving or held the mount steady in my hand while I looked at it. I think part of this loosening could be due to heat from sitting in the car when it's not in use, but can't make a sure call. It may have still loosened from general use even if I removed the entire mount from my vehicle whenever I wasn't using it.

If it didn't rattle around I'd still be using it. The vent attachment it came with would also essentially solve my problem but I just don't wish to use it, which is why I'm still rating this 3 stars, since it's more of a personal pet peeve for why I think it could be better. I feel I got what I paid for with this mount, but since I didn't pay very much, I'm not complaining. Now I'm just looking into a different mount with a different style neck to see if I have better luck.

for the price, it was well worth it! If your in the market for a cheap cell mount than look no further!

250w Grid Tie Power Inverter Converter Solar 10.8v-30v DC 110v AC

250w Grid Tie Power Inverter Converter Solar 10.8v-30v DC 110v ACAfter testing this device for two weeks, here's my take... I have it connected to my 12 volt / 305 watt solar array. It really cranks out the power! It's silent until the fans starts when it reaches 50 watts or so. I have it plugged into a Kill-A-Watt meter so I can see exactly how many watts and amps are being generated at all times. My electric meter goes to zero even with the refrigerator, desktop computer, HDTV and other small appliances running. This means that my solar panels are generating enough power to run everything in the house without using City Power. I have a Blue Line digital meter connected to my electric meter and it lets me know how much City Power is being used. The electric meter will zero out, but not spin backwards. This is fine with me since I can use the power that my solar panels are producing rather than constantly charging batteries that are never used since there has not been a power failure at my house since 2006. Back up power is fine, but you really want to use the power that your solar panels are generating NOW. Note: All of my solar panels combined are 305 watts and with full sunshine, the device runs until the electric meter goes to zero state and stays there until clouds pass by. It has never shown any sign of having a problem with more than 250 watts being connected to it. The fan cycles on and off but it's not overheating since the box itself is only warm.

Hey had my doubts, but this actually works... hook your solar panels to it, plug it into the electric socket, and your going..., i watched the electric meter actually stop for 2 hours.... in the heat of summer! Been using it every day now for 3 mths now. Only have 55 watts worth of solar panels...got to remember your refrigerator, and freezer only run intermittently,, so it takes fewer watts than you think to make a difference....

am hoping I can hook a small wind generator to it, though it says for solar power. so long as i dont go over 250 watts or 30volts, thinking it might work... and can get another one of these and plug in another outlet... might go for a 500 watt grid tie inverter one day, thought I would start small...!

Buy 250w Grid Tie Power Inverter Converter Solar 10.8v-30v DC 110v AC Now

After reading up and watching videos on U-Tube, I decided to buy this product along with a kill-a-watt meter. Everything was just as is. Just plug in and start saving. I have 3 45 watt solar panels I bought from Harbor Freight, I have 4 marine deep cycle batteries hooked up. When running 12 volts to the grid tie inverter the output is only around 120 to 125 watts that you are putting back. When I wired the batteries in series and hooked up 24 volts to the grid tie inverter I was putting back 230 to 240 watts. Just make sure your wiring is correct. Don't want to blow the inverter up. Only wished I bought the 500 or 1000 watt instead because I intend on expanding and adding wind turbines to my setup. Recomend you go to Missouriwindandsolar.com They have great products at a reasonable price. That is where I intend to purchace my wind turbine from. Hopes this review helps. Tony from Indy.

The unit works but it overheats and only does 120-130 watt if used with a 12 volt system, also doesnt work with my 36 volt solar pannel because it is only rated to 30 volt open circuit. it produces about 230 watt if used with a 24 volt battery pack or solar pannel under 30 volt open circuit.

Overal it is a good product but the problem that i had is with the Seller.

Super nice Guy, from China because his english was not really good, We exchanged a couple of emails because i wanted to return the item because was underperforming. Well this is not amazon, i got an RMa number and they promised me a refund but i had No label , i was supouse to go to the usps and pay to ship it back, insure the package because if it gets lot im out. They offered to pay for the label but wanted to refund me only 82 dollar from the 100 that i payed for the unit, also they were talking about restocking fee 20%.

Bottom line, the product works but will be recommended in a cool climate, with a 12v max solar pannel, do not try to use it with a 24 volt because it will not work properly. The 24 volt solar panel has a open circuit voltage sometimes higgher than 30 volt and this unit will stop and will not produce ant power.

Also verry important , this is not Amazon selling it , is a seller thru amazon and the price it is great but if it doesnt work it not worth the trouble to send it back.

In the end I have decided to keep it and try to use it as is or maybe sell it on ebay.

Great communication with the seller. Great Guy, just remember this is not as convinient as buying from amazon directly where you get return labels if the product is not right or functional .

Want 250w Grid Tie Power Inverter Converter Solar 10.8v-30v DC 110v AC Discount?

Just as described. Works great. I was skeptical about this when I first saw it, but doubts disappeared after use and testing. Using this to connect a 100 watt solar panel, and a 12 volt battery bank to the grid. Killawatt meter shows it's making almost 100 watts on a clear day connected to the PV panel. Slows down the meter on the house. Waiting for next power bill to see energy savings. The cheapest and easiest way to connect your solar panels to the grid.

Windmax HY1000-5 1,000 Watt Max 24-Volt 5-Blade Residential Wind Generator Kit

Windmax HY1000-5 1,000 Watt Max 24-Volt 5-Blade Residential Wind Generator KitI purchased the 1200 watt 5 blade wind turbine Windmax and it arrived today so I have not yet installed but will report on that when I do.

The package did not come with a packing slip. The plastic envelope on the outside of the box where the slip is often located was empty and it was not inside the box. It was packed well, but the screws were out of the plastic package and were lose within a compartment. The equipment appeared to come from China because of the English and Chinese symbols on the turbine housing. Visually, the equipment looked good with a nice white painted finish. The wind tail rudder was larger than the picture showed and it appeared very effective. I noticed the unit was heavier than I expected, and it had a rugged quality about it.

There were no installation instructions per say, but they did include a "Wind Turbine Guidebook," which covered five of the HYenerty models. Their Turbine Guidebook was photo copied or they ran it off on a printer that was losing ink because the last four pages were poor quality....some of the words were badly faded and it is difficult to read.

What they didn't tell you in the online sales pitch was that they do not warranty the turbine if you install it yourself. In fact, they specify that you should not even purchase it unless you have someone professionally install it for you. And they must approve the installer, which is never stated in their on-line written sales pitch. They include a four page document with all the reasons why they won't give you a warranty, and all the hoops you have to jump through to have them consider replacing a defective unit. The vendor especially insists that you even have to find an installer who must first contact them for approval before purchase and installation.

I read their Wind Turbine Guidebook, and the assembly/installation process is not difficult and its pretty straight forward.

We got the turbine up and running in just a few hours! It fit easily onto a standard 2" steel pipe. It only weighed

about 50 pounds so it wasn't too difficult to mount. It came with a charge controller included which was nice. The controller has it's own dump load and has 3 led lights indicating what it's doing. Later we will add solar panels to the unit. Once the wind picked up the turbine started spinning wonderfully. The output was better than expected and quickly charged 8 12-volt deep cycle batteries. We had the batteries running into an outback off-grid inverter which handled the output of the turbine quite easily. So far I am very pleased with this purchase!

The wind mill functions but has some serious design flaws. Rated to 60mph the wind gen burned out the load shedding resistor grid once the battery bank was fully charged, and wind speed exceeded 26mhp. I fixed it and it burned out the new resistors as well. I replaced the resistors with 1kw of heat lamps and it seems be working ok. secondly the charge controller has a dynamic break attached to a manual shutoff switch for shutting the wind gen down in high wind situations. Unfortunately it overpowered the break at40mph wind speed and burned up the associated wiring. I repaired this and installed a light switch shorting two phase of the gen which serves to shut the gen down manually when needed. In all, it is working nicely after my modifications, but if you dont have solid electrical skills stay away from this gen.

I mounted this unit last spring and assumed it was working but didn't need it in the summer because solar panels were working well. this fall with the drop in solar production i tested it; no power being produced. when the wind is blowing its hardest it may exceed 12 volts and start pushing a small amount of current through the line, but the problem with its power production is not an electrical fluke or malfunction. it simply doesn't spin fast enough because of poor design.

UPG UT4L-BS Adventure Power Power Sport AGM Series Dry Charge AGM Battery

UPG UT4L-BS Adventure Power Power Sport AGM Series Dry Charge AGM BatteryI have two TaoTao ATVs for my kids. I didn't do a good job on maintaining the charge in the batteries, so had to pay the price of replacing them both. Didn't realize such small batteries would cost so much, but I'm glad I found this one on Amazon the first replacement that I bought at Walmart was considerably more expensive. They look almost identical. Putting in the acid oneself sounds more scary than it really is just follow the instructions provided.

I was wary of having to pour in the liquid, but it works nicely, and is safe if you follow the directions carefully. I use this with a 49cc scooter, and it works very reliably. I wish the nuts were not so easily lost, and I wonder why they are not a permanent part of the posts.

They say to pull the existing mats and fit them in but as long as you make sure they're in snug, I dropped them right over my existing mats. The plastic isn't the strongest in the world (thin) but I think this will do the job. Particularly like the piece that fits across the whole back seat. Worth the money (I paid over $100 for them) in my opinion. Just take them out and wash them off and drop them back in.

In my last vehicle, I purchased Weathertech floor mats. I almost did the same thing when I bought my 4Runner, but I found the Husky liners to be significantly less expensive.

These fit perfectly in my 2011 4Runner. What I like about these that I didn't have in my Weathertech mats is a lip on the outside of the mat that extends over the threshold of the door. This keeps sand, dirt, water, etc from dropping down in that area.

So far, the snow and water have been manageable, too.

The only downside to these types of mats (and this goes for all the types of these mats) is that it's difficult to remove them without dumping some of the dirt back into your vehicle.

That being said, when i purchase another vehicle, I will look to Husky again

Pyramid PS15KX 10A 13.8-Volt Power Supply with Cigarette Lighter Adapter

Pyramid PS15KX 10A 13.8-Volt Power Supply with Cigarette Lighter Adaptergreat 12v power supply!

For those that are looking to run a small to mid range piece of equipment, this baby does the job. I have been using it to power a 50w ham rig, and it works like a champ.

-There are plenty of more expensive ones out there, but whats the point? runs cool and quiet, and is a great price!

-oh, and having both the cig jack as well as power poles(that can accept banana plugs or bare wire) is a great plus

This is a nice power supply. It's regulated so it doesn't interfear with the deviece you are using. I bought this model for 2 reasons. 1) 10 amps

2) Has a lighter plug on the front as well as the pos/neg terminials so you can charge a cell phone or other lighter plug deviece. This P.S. is quiet. I don't hear it when on.

This power supply will work with all 12v products that have less than the 10A current need. Don't be mistaken, you need 13.8v to power 12v products. This is the average voltage that most Automobiles supply on their battery and cigarette lighter plug. I use this supply to power dew heaters for my Celestron CPC 1100 Telescope. This is a well made solid built power supply. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

The problem with most DC power supplies is they tend to generate "Hum" into your audio equipment, unless they are well-designed.

This unit is well-filtered and the output is a clean 13.8 VDC.

The lighter port and the DC terminals are very convenient for fast hook-up to just about and 12VDC item you want to run.

I purchased 3 units and am very satisfied with the quality of workmanship.

Powerline By Original Power 0900-73 200/400-Watt Slim Line Inverter with USB Charging Port

Powerline By Original Power 0900-73 200/400-Watt Slim Line Inverter with USB Charging PortThis is a decent power inverter, at best. I do not recommend this for continuous use for longer than 2 or 3 hours.

I purchased my first one at Wal-Mart, which subsequently died on me after about 10 hours of continuous use. It kept blowing a fuse, with OR without having anything drawing current, other than the unit itself. I disassembled it and found the internal fuse to be in working condition. I came to the conclusion that the voltage regulators were at fault, and drew over 30 amps of current, since I tried a 30amp fuse and it popped immediately.

I exchanged it for a second one at Wal-Mart, and used it on another road trip yesterday; this one no longer functions. I didn't bother disassembling this one because I've decided that this brand and/or country of assembly/manufacturing (made in china, of course) is not worth my while.

The cooling fan on both units was finicky. They would buzz after long use and often required multiple power cycles (unplugging and plugging back in) to get it to spin up again.

My usage was with a Dell Inspiron 6000 1.6ghz Pentium-M (SpeedStep enabled, running at 800mhz) with a 4200rpm drive, and cpu usage was between 0-10% at most. There was little the power inverter was required to do; the Dell AC power cord I use is rated at 65watt max current, and my computer, as you see noted above, was operating at 0-10 percent @ 800mhz. This is unacceptable performance from the PowerLine inverter.

My first inverter failure was at 10 hours, and my second at 7 hours. The second one, again, either has cheaply made voltage regulators or has blown a fuse internally; I won't waste my time taking this one apart to see if it's the internal fuse or regulators that have gone bad.

Each inverter failed in different cars, so it's not likely that a dirty or unstable DC power supply is to blame. I blame the over-sensitivity of the cheap components used in manufacturing. I've had cheaply-made power supplies in computers last longer than this, and I learned my lesson with those quickly--now I've learned my lesson with DC-to-AC power inverters, especially those of the PowerLine brand.

If your use is infrequent, and for less than 2 hours at a time, this might do the job you need. The internal capacitors are not a durable brand, either--there are no identifying markings on them at all. My draw of less than 65 AC watts causes the fan to operate improperly and then render the device useless--this is my second and last purchase of a PowerLine inverter product.

My experience is similar to Jonathans. This unit is a piece of junk. I had a similarly rated inverter for several years (I have forgotten the make and model) and it worked perfectly until it was stolen from my car. The FIRST TIME I used this one, with a Dell laptop power supply (rated 90 watts continuous) connected, after about 4 hours use, it began screaming at me with its built in audible alarm. It screams whenever it is turned on, with or without anything plugged in, load or no load. Maybe I will tear it apart for the alarm. THAT seems to work just fine!

I keep reading all these reviews and they all have the same problems I have had with the PowerLine Inverter: screaming alarm, flashing light, and basically just not working anymore after small usage.

So heed the warnings...

Don't buy this product if you want something durable!

Try another brand.

I have had this unit (the 0900-73 200W) for about 3 months. I bought it after my Radio Shack inverter died after about 5 years of use powering an XBox and TV in our van for many, many 5+hour trips (and it was only rated at 140W). So, I picked this one up (since it was cheap...) and it worked on our first trip just fine, and now just blows the fuse in any vehicle when I plug anything into it. The power output is intermittent. I have a light on my Dell laptop powercord that lights up when it has power. Thatlight does not come on reliably when using this inverter, indicating the the Powerline is not outputting power. When the light does eventually come on, the fuse in my car blows immediately. I am reluctant to plug it back in, and am going to go with a different brand (likely back to radio shack). Also, the internal beeper keeps going off with or without anything plugged into it, and regardless of whether it is actually outputting any power.

I purchased one of these for my wife to use on a plane. It worked fine that day but now has blown the fuse on two of my cars. My other Inverter from another company still works fine after about 10 years of use. This unit is JUNK!

Philips USA PH-62050 CD/MP3/MD-To-Cassette Adapter

Philips USA PH-62050 CD/MP3/MD-To-Cassette Adapter
  • Allows you to play CD, MP3 or MD players through your car's cassette deck
  • Inexpensive way to listen to your digital music through your car speakers
  • Plugs directly into your portable player
  • Powered by your car's electrical system
  • If you have auto-reverse on your cassette player and there is no way to disable it, this product will not work. There is a warning on the back of the package that says you have to disable auto-reverse.

There are basically 4 ways to play your iPod in your car:

1) Newer cars (typically 2006+) have an aux input which you connect your iPod to with the right cable. A direction connection like this is the simplest, lowest cost, and best sounding option but you need a newer car.

2) On most cars without a dedicated aux input, you can hard wire a connection in the back of the head units with kits from several manufacturers (USA Spec for example). This provides sound quality as good as item #1 but can get a little messy as the hardware needs to be mounted (usually under the dash) and can be fairly expensive (approx $200 hardware, $50 to $100 install)

3) You can use a FM modulator with any car that has an FM receiver. This is low cost simple option, but the drawbacks are well known: OK sound quality at best, issues with static and noise from nearby radio channels.

4) For cars that have a cassette tape deck (remember those?!) you can use a cassette adapter like the Phillips here. My older Lexus has a cassette deck and I chose this option before I invest in adding a hard wire connection (#2) as described above. I figured I would least try it for $11 and I am very impressed with the sound quality! I would call it near CD sound quality. There is no hissing or mechanical clicking of the gears in the adapter. I also purchased the Maxell cassette adapter since they used to make the best cassettes back in the day and to my surprise it sounded much worse and had a loud humming noise. So I am keeping the Phillips and returning the Maxell and just ordered another Philips unit as a backup for long trips!

I have two of these devices. The sony that I have cost $20 and clicks when I play it in my one car. In my other car, it always sounds like the dolby sound filtering is on. This one works and sounds better and was half the cost.

I got the Philips Cassette Converter to run my iPod Shuffle in my '96 Saab 900 with factory equiped stereo and it works beautifully. Yes, it is true that the signal is not very strong, so you have to turn the volume up a bit, but even the little Shuffle can compensate for it and by no means do you need to fear forgetting to turn the volume down when you switch to Radio or CD. The sound quality is as good as the iPod delivers and you have no disturbing background noise. I also had no problems that the deck would eject the tape. I can recommend this product and it's good value for money (I didn't try similar one)

...for solving a new tech problem. Cassette tapes are almost as extinct as the 8-track ...but the cassette deck lives on in many factory installed car stereos ...pretty much lying dormant as the CD player gets all the use. Wanna play that new fangled iPod or MP3 player in your car but don't have a modern, high zoot car stereo you can just plug it into? Problem solved if you're lucky enough to have a cassette player as part of your setup. Turn on your radio (volume down) and simply slip this cassette adapter into the slot. Connect the mini-plug into the headset jack on your pocket-sized player and...voi-la! ...put that puppy on "Shuffle" and enjoy a just about endless supply of tunes. It's that simple.

I have two of these Phillips units; they work great and sound great. The Phillips is also one of the least expensive of the lot. All the adapters work the same and they will all probably sound the same ...so why pay more? The audio cable can be routed in one of three ways making it adaptable to just about any cassette deck made. You can route the cable out the left or right side and out the center of the back edge of the cassette shell. There are two large screws allowing you to use a dime to open the slot and realign the audio lead.

One thing you need to be aware of as you use this cassette. Many cassette players came with some type of noise reduction system (Dolby and others). When using this adapter you want to make sure the noise reduction circuitry is turned *off* ...otherwise the music will sound dull and have a slightly weird effect to it. Some factory cassette decks, like the one in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee, default the noise reduction circuit to the "on" position so you have to turn it off each time you insert the adapter. Or you can just leave the adapter in the player with no harm.

Another point for getting good sound is to make sure the volume level of the MP3/iPod player is not greater than about 75% of max ...there's a good chance you'll get distortion if the player is at full volume.

The only downside I've experienced so far has been the top label peeling up in the hot weather. The ends will curl up and the sticky side will attach to the cassette door as you try to eject it. Simply peel off the label, problem fixed. So fire up that old tech cassette deck and enjoy your new tech using some low tech.

This adapter works fine with my mp3 player, at top volume there's slight background noise that can be taken care of with noise reduction if your car stereo has it. Sound quality is excellent and very consistent. It's much better and less expensive than a radio transmitter. I'm extremely satisfied with this purchase.
