I had been considering installing this unit in our Wood-Fired Pizza Truck (BasicKneadsPizza.com). We had purchased a nice generator, but after installing one on another truck, I wasn't blown away, even the quiestest Honda 3000 still stinks like a traffic jam.
James from Tripp-Lite's technical support line picked up quickly and gave me a free refresher course on physics; 36v input means 3 batteries in series, 24v=2 batteries. To double the capacity, a second bank in parallel would cost ~1/3 less with the 24v APS2424.
Not to mention the Auto-Transfer switch, and load sensor, this unit is basically going to be my prep table's personal assistant.
Our truck is going to rock this unit and two batteries in series. I am going to return an $80 transfer switch, sell a Parallax converter/charger for $100 and a Honda Eu3000is for $1200.
Generator system= ~$1600, noisy, stinky, needs gas and oil changes, huge amount of work to install.
Inverter system= ~$850, silent, maintenence free.
Sold.I purchased this inverter for loads that have heavy inductive startup motors. Refrigerator, well pump, etc which are powered off my solar battery system. Works perfectly where an Aims 5000 watt unit failed repeatedly. Handles startup currents from inductive loads perfectly as long as you are in the rated overload capacity. Workmanship is excellent. Instructions are detailed. Well worth the extra cost in quality and ruggedness. Very happy with unit.

This was an easy install, plenty of power and good assortment of options.I chose the 24V unit to lower the current draw requirement on the batteries.
With a couple of good AGM batteries it's a sweet backup for lights and most consumer electronics.
I connected the unit to a External Generator panel on my house for emergency backup power since power outages lasting more than 5 hours are extremely rare. (We are near a substation.)
My only complaint is not about the unit, it is about the documentation.
PWM Sine Wave does not describe the output wave form properly for most people. Searching for PWM Sine Wave often yields Pulse With Modulation generated Sine Wave which is a common way to produce "Pure Sine Wave". Searching for the definition of PWM Sine Wave yielded anything but the type of wave form this product produces.
The output of this Inverter is a "Modified Square Wave" in that it has a very short rise and fall time that approximates an alternating current and is compatible with most household electronics. There are advantages to this waveform, first and foremost the output is simple to generate so the product will be very reliable/rugged. Apparently there has been a shift in terminology over the years to "Pure Sine Wave" as apposed to just plain "Sine Wave", even "Modified Sine Wave" most of us knew was a square wave.
My only issue is that I have a medical device that needs to have "Pure Sine Wave" to properly drive the heater in the device. SCR controllers (AKA Dimmers) have a hard time with square waves and the output is unpredictable. If I had known it was not a "Pure Sine Wave" I would not have purchased this product.
No, I am not going to return it. I'll use it as a backup to the much more troublesome sine wave unit that I only need for my refrigerator and medical device.I just bought this to replace a POS made by Power bright. This thing is three times the size, yet the same power output. It make a humming noise when on. But thats all I can say so far as the bad. The great part, it is built like a tank...made to last. It works great. I run my barn lights, my well pump, and some times a fan. All work well with this unit.

Now possible to run most household appliances on solar with this inverter. Washed two loads in front loader washer yesterday!
