because of the low price I was afraid that this might not work. I was wrong. It works great. While I got it primarily to charge my iPod while driving across country, using the cigar adapter, I've also used the A/C adapter for a regular charge when I traveled without a computer. I highly suggest that you get one of these, great for when you're away from your computer.

Researched lots 0-gauge power wires online and Knu was always near the top of recommended products. Knu wires have higher strand count, oxygen free copper, generally oversized wire thickness to compensate for CCA and don't try to trick you with thick insulation like the cheaper alternatives, yet still remain extremely flexible for wire routing and those tight bends. Knu has never once came close to disappoint me, this is no different this 0 guage is stout, super flexible and true to its size. i used it on a 3g upgrade for my alternator and a big 3 upgrade as well for grounds and power. unless you can find something cheaper of similar quality(which is hard), knu is the way to go.

Uniden BCD396XT Handheld TrunkTracker IV Digital Police Scanner

I've owned scanners since the mid-'70s and this little beast is the finest one I've ever owned, hands down. It has more features than I'll ever use (or comprehend), but it's tidy, compact form factor, superlative audio, and superb built quality puts it in a class all its own.

If you decide to get one, please do yourself a huge favor and get a decent USB programming cable...yes, a serial cable comes packed with the rest of the goodies, but how many people have access to serial ports on their computers these days? Don't toss the serial cable, with the optional GPS rig and a null modem, you can enjoy GPS-enabled scanning wherever you go!

And there are several excellent programming programs available; I use Freescan which makes programming ridiculously easy, especially if you subscribe to a site like radioreference...programming digital modes is a cake walk.

Yes, I am delighted with my 396XT and have become a 'true believer' .

Great Scanner you will need the following to program without frustration.

This is my first scanner and after 1 day I had all the counties in my state programmed. I went with police, sheriff, Fish and game, and state patrol only.

1. Order the car charger, also you will need a 9 pin male adapter with a usb port. The scanner comes with a 9 pin female adapter.

2. Order ARC-XT Basic Software. This is the software that makes programming much easier. It also has an online manual you can click for reference.

3. Equally important under the internet tab you will see the radioreference icon. Click that and order a 6 month subscription for roughly $9.00 create your user name and password and they also accept paypal. This internet site will work inconjunction with your ARC-XT software and allow you to click on your state or where ever your located and you simply scroll through the couinties, then click import, followed by copy to clip board, next you click the upper send icon which is a radio icon. This automatically sends all frequencies and names of the department to your scanner.

4. Lastly, and i blew this the first time dont forget to hit the save icon, and save as profile(i used my first name) this way all your county, state, federal, ect frequencies will be saved on the left side of your profile. At any time you can upload them all, or make changes to them. If you close the window after spending a good hour or two selecting all the frequencies from various counties they will not be saved. So dont make the mistake I did save save save your profile.

If you still have trouble look up scannermasters.com online, they have a live help chat, a remote access to your computer app, and if you prefer you can send your radio in and have them program it.

I bought the analog version last year this time, and enjoyed it for a month before I returned it. It was too much money for what it did. This year, I tried again, but stepped up to the digital version. This scanner picks up everything in my area (except my encrypted county). Once I added an external antenna, things came in loud and clear. It takes a LOT of practice. it is very complicated and your knowledge of radios will have to increase. After over a month, I am still practicing daily.

Anyway, its very well organized, picks up the signals well, and is easy on the batteries. Does exactly what its supposed to. Haven't found any bugs either. Finally, this year they have an actual manual. The website that tried to be a manual is horrible.

This scanner has helped me navigate traffic on the interstates many times. I won't send this one back. Eventhough I think its overpriced, I'll be keeping it.

!!PROS/CONS/TIPS below review!!

I've had the Uniden BCD396XT for a month or so and am still discovering new features daily. If you're anything like me, I had no understanding about scanners when I purchased this except that I knew I wanted a scanner that could scan analog, digital, and trunking systems. When I first turned it on and began playing with it I was a little overwhelmed by its lack of good documentation. I halfway expected a $400+ device to just start picking up stuff in my town out of the box but it turned out I just didn't understand the basics of how scanners worked. Now that I've had some time to play with it, I'm quite satisfied with its feature set and capabilities.

PROS:

Scans pretty much any non-encrypted source including CB/FM/AM/Trunking systems (digital and analog)

Portable (I can take it in my car, leave it on my desk, or carry it with me)

Advanced programming features (hook it up to your PC with FreeScan and program stuff quickly)

Battery life is good (I can leave it on for about 8 hours before the low battery warning comes on)

Comes with a set of rechargeable batteries (simply plug it in to charge them)

CONS:

Expensive!!

Average antenna (portable antennas like this don't pick up as much. However can be hooked up to a better one easily)

Steep learning curve (be ready to do some reading and keyboard smashing from getting frustrated)

TIPS/RESOURCES:

Get a USB -> Serial adapter like the Trendnet RS-232 (This will make your life much more enjoyable when programming from the PC)

Download FreeScan by SixSpot Software (free free free is good!)

Google "easier to read 396xt scanner manual" by marksscanners (puts things into simpler terms than the Uniden manual)

Check out radioreference.com for a free collection of frequencies for different agencies/public services in your areas (you can use the copy/paste function of FreeScan to import these into the app)

Set the Squelch low (noob mistake on my part. I had Squelch set too high and it was filtering out everything. I accidentally bumped it down and all of a sudden I heard things going on).

Great scanner for conventional and trunk systems. Love the digital readout better

than any scanner out there, very nice and large typeface.

If you've experience with programming software in the past should be no problem to use.

However with all things new, if you have not, there is a learning curve.

Beware, that if you are planning to use it for the newer P25 Simulcast systems the

audio and receives are very choppy and inaudible. Check the internet and radioreference.com

a lot of discussion on this subject and how scanner mfrs have not entirely solved this

problem. Listening to the Oakland Police and Fire P25 simulcast systems have been horrible.

Upgraded to the latest firmware, not much improvement.

I set up a basic solar system for my sailboat on a very limited budget using this charge controller. It is rated for up to 300 Watts of solar panels and I have two DMSolar 145 Watt panels that I also bought from Amazon, and 12 guage cables and parallel connectors from HQRP, the connectors now come free with the panels. For $47 I don't think you can find a better value in a charge controller. The controller is extremely easy to use and understand, and is doing a good job of keeping two 125 AH batteries charged up (usually by lunchtime despite drawing the battery bank down to 12.4 V during the night with usage.) My only complaints are about the panel input receptacles, yes it would be nice to use 10 gauge wire and the screws seem barely adequate but the next step up is to a $160 controller. If you have the money, you can buy a programmable WPM controller from Morningstar (the TS45) which allows you to set the charging voltage at a higher voltage (say 14.8) which does make a difference in the amount of energy stored in the battery and perhaps also in their lifespan. Summary: incredible value in a budget priced charge controller for someone with less than 300 watts of panels.

I purchased three Regulator two of then failed after 4 weeks - At this point , I would have to buy an alternative item to replace the two failed units

not happy with this product. i was unable to secure the #10 stranded wire into the slots. when i place them in and tightened the tiny little screw IT DID NOTHING. so the wires fell out. i wrote the supplier and they suggested i turn the unit upside down so the wires just lay in the unit and quote"I may be using too large of wire) unit is rated for #6 (that size would never go in) and the solar panels ask for #10. also it was said by the supplier that the unit was made to not hold wires securely. I think this is bogus. No suggestions were made as to return the item. SO FAR I HAVE NOT DONE THE UPSIDE DOWN THING. THIS IS IN AN RV AND I THINK THE ROAD BUMPS WOULD DISLODGE THEM AND THAT WOULD BE A CONSTANT IRRITANT.

I read one review that says this transmitter doesn't work well in big cities with lots of stations. I live in a big city with lots of stations, and have NO problem with clarity. Received the product in a timely fashion and like all Husky product it is well done. It's sturdy and really well made. The fitting is 98% perfect. The only gripe I have is with the Stow and Go. I bought this thinking I would save some money because Lexus wants around $70 for this key. The key only cost me about $7 and Lexus charged me $25 to cut the key to fit my ignition. The problem is after about a week I took the key out of my pocket and there was a chip of plastic broken off from around the screw. The key hasn't completely broken away from the plastic but with this compromised structural integrity, it's probably just a matter of time. Even if they refund the money or give me a replacement, I will still have to pay Lexus to cut the key again. If I had it to do again, I would just give Lexus the 68 bucks or so because then I would be able to complain to them and probably they would replace it free of charge.

The standard Lexus keybody is weak and eventually breaks. A dealer replacement is over $100.00 (key + cutting). Save yourself time and money. Buy 2 bodies, get them cut by your local locksmith or at the dealer and gain the piece of mind knowing you're covered when the inevitable break happens.

SOLAR ESA30 OBD II Memory Saver Connector

Not really sure if this connector works when plugged in to external power/another car or battery. I tried this on my Nissan Altima and blew the OBD2 fuse right after I supplied power from another car. This might work with some other make or model car but have not tried it after that incident.

Bought Pa15-acu XL adapter for my Acura RDX 2008 Tech package. Installation was very simple access the space behind glovebox (the same way if you want to replace your cabin air filter), detached cable from XM unit, connected it into splitter supplied, other splitter socket connected back to XM module and... that's it =)

Each time you connect your iPhone or iPod touch or whatever iPod you have car head unit automatically switches to XM1 channel which is now responsible for iDevice playback. You can browse your tracks and albums, see media tags on car main screen etc.

So completely perfect device with no flaws.

Possibly too lengthy cable from XM split to the adapter but better to have reserve. Thanks for device creators and manufacturers great job!

12 Volt Extension Cord - 10'

This is an ideal item to have. Two months ago, I was on my way to start my new job, and suddenly I find that I had a flat tire. So I put my 12 volt air pump to it, then about half way full, the damn fuse blew out, (Oh great, now's a good f*&%#@$ time to do this). Luckily it was enough to make it to work. Now that I have this, I know there's no chance of a fuse blowing out. The cord is long enough to reach all four wheels on my car. So if this s#$% ever happens to you, you damn well better have a plan B.

Round Solar Roof Vent for RVs, Boats, Sheds, Geen house, Cars

I installed this vent into the roof of a Rubbermaid shed I use to store gasoline and other flammables. It works well to reduce heat buildup during the day. The unit is self contained and weatherproof so I don't have to worry about sparks. It actually runs so fast on a sunny day that it hums. Installation took about an hour, the biggest problem was making a snug 4 1/2 inch round hole that I could caulk to prevent water leakage. I would recommend the square version of this vent if you don't happen to have a hole saw that big but do have a saber saw.

I rated it four stars because it doesn't move as much air as I hoped for, you might want to install two in larger sheds. The unit is well made but I still plan to remove the fan unit in winter. The fan unit locks into the base ring like a smoke dector so I can easily take it off and cover the hole. I have found that items made in warm climates don't usually survive freezing Michigan winters.

I had a vent hole in the top of my van that just had a cap and no fan. I removed the cap, and all that was left was the tube. I got lucky that this vent fit right into the hole. Small tabs on the vent locked it into position. All I did was put some silicone around the edge to seal it in. The fan started running right out of the box. All I could suggest is, it could use a on/off switch for cold weather. Other than that, it works nice to keep some fresh air flowing through my vehicle.

I bought two of these Solar Powered Roof Vents for the topper on our pickup truck. We take our two dogs with us almost everywhere we go, these vents provide extra airflow even on cloudy days. They are easy to install, make very little noise when they a running and do not increase the overall height of the vehicle by more than a couple of inches. The vents can be mounted vertically, horizontally or on an angle, as long as the surface(s) are flat. The price, $26.88 is a good value and the shipping was fast and reasonable.

The 3.5mm adapter seems to have issues. I have a Nokia N800 that I tried to use this with. At first I thought the FM transmitter was broke but after fiddling with it for a while I got it to work. I have to be very careful not to move my Nokia or else the adapter will lose connection. I have never had issues with several set of earphone on this devices. That is why I believes it has something to do with the adapter. I really like the fact that it came with a cigarette adapter.
