Sunforce 80001 Solar Pest Repeller

Sunforce 80001 Solar Pest RepellerFor several years I've been plagued by gophers. I have dogs that would like to help me root them out and so they've had to be confined to a pen that has chicken wire to prevent the digging (the only time they dig is to go after the gophers). My yard looked like it had the measles from all the gopher mounds and mowing was a real drag. I did get smelly things, tried all the organic methods I could find from garlic to peppers to castor oil sprayed on the runs (apparently they don't like that). There was no change. I just hate to kill them! This little thing did the trick. I live in clay soil so I guess it's helpful but the mole holes have completely stopped. There is no evidence left that they like my yard. I bought two and put them one in the front and one in the back but the gophers in the side yard seem to be gone too. I'm on just under 3/4 acre. I think the change is these devices as the timing was right but as soon as it warms a little more here, I will know for sure. I'm pretty sure already as I was getting new mounds of activity and they have completely stopped, so I'm thinking these babies did the job. Yippee, no gophers! Maybe I can let the dogs back into the big yard!

The burrowing activity has certainly been reduced, and plants are no longer disappearing or dying from gophers and moles destroying their roots, but on occasion I still see evidence of burrowing activity right up to 8" from the repeller. The Sunforce Repeller has a been a reasonable substitute for poisons or traps in an area that is contiguous with a wild life preserve.

The product arrived quickly, installed easily, and has done a great job of chasing away those pesky rodents!! It emits a high frequency sound so that you know it's doing its job!!

The Sunforce 80001 Solar Pest Repeller works as advertised. It started up straight way and hasn't stopped all summer. True to published cautions, it does tend to attract creatures out of curiosity for the first day or so before repelling them, but that's certainly not a defect of the product. We bought two of these to cover our somewhat large front lawn and I find it advantageous to move them around every few weeks just to ensure we're "marking our turf" and not letting any of our little visitors get too accustomed to the buzzing that the repellers emit. I can recommend this product to anyone suffering from underground attacks as a reliable means of discouraging unwanted space invaders.

Save all your packaging and be prepared to return the product.

1) Here is how you can test the product (without doing any technical work). After assembling per instructions, cover the solar top so that it gets no light. This will force the unit to run off the batteries (which come pre-charged). You will hear the unit hum/vibrate, as it should. Leave it like that for a few days to drain the batteries. After you are sure the batteries are drained (unit no longer makes intermittent hums/vibrations), remove the solar cover, and take it outside in the sun. Make sure the solar collector is getting direct sun. If the unit is wired correctly it will resume operation and the batteries will recharge. Congratulations, you have received operational product.

2) Here is how you can repair the product (if you don't want to send it back for a refund). A) Remove the little screws underneath the top of the product. B) If you have access to a volt meter, take a reading on solder points where the wires from the solar collector are soldered. If you have to switch the meter leads (black on red; red on black), to obtain a normal voltage reading, then the solar collector is wired backwards. I got a reading of about -8 volts (DC). C) The wiring can be corrected by cutting the red and black wires near the middle of the collector. D) Re-splice to opposites (connect red to black; black to red). This will correct the problem, but the better way is to re-solder the wires on the printed circuit board in reverse locations. E) Once you have swapped the wires, and if sunlight is hitting the solar collector, it will start working. F) You should also pull the battery plug and take a voltage reading on the two little prongs. You should be getting about an 8 VDC reading there as well (meaning it will recharge the batteries).

Does the product really work? Well I don't know yet, just got them working, but at least the two I purchased are now operational. If I see gopher damage diminish, maybe I will come back and add a star...

Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker for 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe With Do-It-Yourself Programming

Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker for 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe With Do-It-Yourself ProgrammingThis was not the remote for my Tahoe, however it was a GM remote and still worked, I am not downgrading it for that, as it warns of that in the description. Why I am downgrading this, the instructions were completely useless, basically telling me to use a website. That website did not have the instructions for my Tahoe. Fortunately, thanks to the internet and its wonderful search capabilities, I did get it to work. However, once it worked, the batteries that came with it were so weak I had to unlock my Tahoe from close enough to touch it. Once I bought new batteries, I got a little bit more range, but it still only works within about 15 paces from my Tahoe. Overall though, I fear I did get what I paid for, because this price is outrageously low.

Would still consider buying again because of the price.

AmazonBasics 12-Volt Black Heated Seat Cushion with 3-way Temperature Controller

AmazonBasics 12-Volt Black Heated Seat Cushion with 3-way Temperature ControllerSimple design, heats up quickly, gets nice and hot, my wife and I both turn it on the high setting and then to the low setting once it gets too hot. It warms me slightly faster than my engine can put out heat on a very cold morning. It has no auto off feature but my car (2001 Cadillac Deville) shuts off the power to the accessory outlet a few minutes after the car is shut off so no dead battery if I forget to turn it off. I bought one to test, we both love it and have ordered a second one.

I love this seat warmer.. It works great and feels good on my bad back when I'm driving. However.... be sure to turn it off because it WILL drain your battery, oops!!

But the temp conrtol is high, low, or off. I really don't consider off a temp. So it's more of a 2-way contol.

2002-2006 Nissan Altima Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob w/ Free DIY Programming Instructions

2002-2006 Nissan Altima Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob w/ Free DIY Programming InstructionsI honestly thought this would be total crap and took the chance anyway and THEY WORK GREAT. They look and feel like the original, too. I purchased 2 of these remotes for my 02 Altima and googled for the programming instructions. I found this site and followed the instructions. I pasted the necessary steps below. Note: I did have to replace one of the remote batteries almost immediately, no stars off for that. He gets 5 stars for price-quality ratio

ID Code Entry Procedure

To enter the ID code, follow this procedure:

"Setting Mode":

1. Close and lock all doors.

2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will flash twice). At this time, the original ID codes are eliminated.

ID Code Entry:

3. Turn ignition key to "ACC" position

4. Push the "lock" button on the new remote control once(for example, if the door is locked using the remote controller during this ID code entry state, a new ID code can be entered). At this time, the new ID code is entered. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash twice).

Additional ID code Entry:

5. If you need to activate additional remote control units, unlock the drivers door, then lock it again(WITH THE DOOR LOCK SWITCH).

6. Push the lock button on the additional remote once.

7. This ID code enable state and setting mode will remain until the drivers door is opened.

NOTE!!

* If you need to activate more than two additional keyless remotes, repeat the procedure "Additional ID code entry" for each new remote.

* If the same ID code that exists in the memory is input, the hazard warning lamps will flash twice but the entry will be ignored.

*Entry of a maximum of four ID codes is allowed and any attempt to enter more will be ignored.

*Any ID codes entered after termination of the "Setting Mode" will not be accepted. Additional keyless remote signals will be inhibited when an ID code has not been entered during the setting mode.

I normally do not write reviews. This product was shipped quickly with very easy to follow instructions. I took it out of the mailbox and immediately was able to set the remote with no problems. The directions were very simple.

Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapter, Black

Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapter, Black
  • NOTE: Needs to pair with a USB charging cable. Additional USB charging cable is available for purchase separately.
  • Use your car to charge any devices (digital cameras, PDAs, mobile phones, USB accessories and more) that can rely on USB for power! This adapter plugs into your car's cigarette lighter jack to become a powered USB port.
  • USB car charger adapter charges your PDA from any standard cigarette lighter in any vehicle. (Use together with USB charging cable.)
  • Patented circuit board designed to protect your valuable gadgets from short circuits. Fit all electronic appliances that use a USB charging cable.
  • Input: 12V-24V, Output: 5V / 1000mA, Color: black. NOTE: NOT compatible with Apple® iPad®

I'll start with the good: It looks good, feels relatively sturdy, and does put out 5 volts over USB. Now for the bad: First off, the red LED that comes on is WAY too bright. I wouldn't want to drive at night with it on, which is annoying. Also, While i was testing it, i noticed that the unit felt warm after only 2-3 minutes of charging. It was emitting a burning electronics smell. thats not good! So, considering that the device cost less than 3 bucks, i just took it apart to see what was up....

The device uses an MC34063a voltage converter chip. This chip is tinymaybe 5mm by 2.5mm. This is the source of the heat!!!! I plugged my Droid X into the charger (which was connected to 12v through an ammeter) and after 5-10 minutes of charging, the surface of the chip was 186 degrees F. Not only is this insane, it's also way past the operating range of the chip (about 150 degrees). At this time the charger was pulling .5 to .6 of an amp from the power source to charge the phone.

While technically it works, i wouldn't rely on it. I doubt it will last long considering how hot it gets.

Buy Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapter, Black Now

The adapter arrived just as it looks in the picture, and it sports a much better form-factor than the clunky alternatives found on Amazon. It's worth noting that the black circle next to the USB input is a blue LED indicator light, letting you know that the device has power. However, the blue light is rather bright. While I like the blue light, some might find it distracting when driving at night; it lights up a good bit of the car.

In my older Infiniti, I have to twist the adapter to find the sweet-spot to get it to hold a charge in the cigarette lighter. I think the problem may lie more with my car than the adapter, though. Once I find the sweet-spot, the adapter works just fine.

When I used the adapter in a 1996 Camry, I had a different result. The adapter worked just fine immediately. I tried twisting the unit to recreate the problem from the first car, but it never lost charge. I actually ran into an unexpected problem. The 1996 Camry has a recessed cigarette lighter, and the nice, small adapter fit into it absolutely flush -so flush that I couldn't pull it out. I ended up having to loop string around the adapter and pull it out that way (worked like a charm).

The adapter seems to work just fine, and I have no problem recommending this for purchase -just make sure your car doesn't have an overly-recessed lighter.

Although, these are nice and cheap, I've had two die on me after a month or so. The fuses seems to be okay. They both just stop charging and the light no longer illuminates. The price is not worth the hassle if you end up having to buy something better anyways.

Want Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapter, Black Discount?

In one of the product reviews... the person mentioned that the big light on the front is blue, but on the version I recently bought from the Eforcity storefront, it illuminates red (which is fine by me). The light turns on immediately once it is plugged into a running car. I have yet to charge my device fully in the car, so I don't know if the light changes color or not. However, I think the mobile phone has its own control function when the battery is fully charged anyway.

Essentially, this adapter converts your cigarette lighter port into a USB port. The adapter is called "mini" due to its general size as it is much less bulkier than your regular car adapters/chargers. Thus to help with those that may still be confused, the port is not for a mini-USB connector, as it sports a standard USB port. You will need to also purchase a seperate USB cord for charging. For my HTC Evo, I bought a micro USB to standard USB cord which works perfectly so far. Great product and very affordable!

It looks nice and cheap. It fits in my cigarette adapter well. However, it always turns off randomly!!! The light just go out without any reason and my phone stops charging. This situation happens all the time and I got crazy because I depend on it to charge my phone in the car. The other bad thing about this adapter is that it gets very hot after several minutes charging...

The price is not worth the hassle if you end up having to buy something better anyways!!

Milton 1260 Battery-Starter Charging System Tester

Milton 1260 Battery-Starter Charging System TesterI gave this Milton Industries model 1260 Battery Tester the lowest possible rating for three reasons: 1) poor load switching design, 2) poor calibration and, 2) poor Customer Service attitude (which reflects on the Company's attitude).

1) After having this tester for about a week and having tested 7 batteries the load switch failed. Removal and disassembly of this switch (after talking with Milton, see below) revealed that most of the internal plastic supporting material had severely melted. This was a DPST momentary rocker switch. It had no external or internal identification markings. Milton recommended replacement switch p/n: P10-2-1N from Toolsavings of Chicago. This new switch was similar but not exactly the same as the original part. It was identified as made by Arcolectric Corp with a 1551 part number. In Arcolectric's literature (see http://www.arcolectric.com/pdfs/RockerSwitches_199.pdf pp 26 & 27) this switch has a 20 amp at 24vdc rating. With the new switch installed I subsequently used the Tester to measure two different batteries while using a clamp-on DC Amp meter. I measured an average of 120 amps, or 60 amps per switch contact set (IF the load is equally distributed between the two contact sets). Conclusion: At least the replacement Load switch (and probably the original Load switch) is grossly underrated, by a factor of 1/3, for this application. Burnout of this switch is apparently a common occurrence since doing a search for battery testers on Amazon.com strangely also includes a listing for this 1260 switch.

2) I found that the analysis meter reads between 0.4 and 0.5 volts high (at 12.5 vdc when compared with three accurate digital voltmeters). This is an incredible amount of error when proper analysis requires a basic accuracy of 0.1 volt.

3) When I called Milton's Customer Service and said the Load switch quit working the person said "I must of had it on too long", i.e. it was the customer's fault for the problem. For each test I only had the switch on for the literature recommended 10 second test evaluation interval. If the company believes this is wrong then they should correct their written procedures. Additionally, I suggested that they could just send me a new switch since it looked like replacement of the switch would be an easy task, and that it would save us both time and money if I were to do the work. They wouldn't agree to do it that way, that instead I would have to send the unit back to them for warrantee service. Also, I found it interesting that none of the packaging or accompanying literature listed their phone number (toll free or otherwise). I had to find it by doing an internet search. Conclusion: This is not a customer friendly company.

Finally, in all fairness, I must say that I think that parts of the design are very good. The expanded scale meter is quite readable with clearly defined analysis colored areas. Also, the use of a separate set of wires within the two cables to the battery terminal clips is critical for properly measuring true battery voltage.

Dennis Barkley

Ret. Electrical Engineer

I had two Battery testers ,one was my old Snap On that I had for over 30 years , like a fool I sold it in a garage sale because I had bought a new MILTON 1260 tester, well after using the meter 2 times the load switch quit,a disassembly of the switch showed the little plastic contacts MELTED and the switch failed. Its funny that after using my Snap On all of these years Milton is saying that I held the switch on two long. The switch is under rated, a much heavier switch is needed, I will find my own replacement switch and repair it myself.IF I WERE TO DO IT AGAIN I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT,IT HAS A VERY POOR LOAD SWITCH.

Had this tester for 2 years. Used the tester maybe a total of 10 times. After only minimal use the Load Switch failed. When I contacted Milton they we little or No help. Its a useful piece of equipment but rendered usless with a defective Load switch and Milton wanted nothing to do with correcting the problem.

Schumacher SC-8000A Speedcharge Charger/Maintainer

Schumacher SC-8000A Speedcharge Charger/MaintainerThe meter accuracy on the SC-800A was within 0.05 volts, and the charging algorithms appear to work well, although they are not described in the instructions.

I observed that the voltage was generally limited to 15.5 for regular, 16.0 for deep cycle, and 14.7 for AGM batteries. The 30 amp capability is in the form of a long timed pulse of about 2 minutes followed by 12 amps for a similar time period, then repeating until the voltage has risen enough that it isn't required. The amperage isn't constant, it tapers down to limit the voltage in typical CC/CV fashion, although the algorithm appears to actually be more complex. For instance, on a particular AGM battery it went to 15.5 volts near the end of the charge (95%) with current at about 1.5 amps for about 30 minutes and then stopped (completed). I suspect that this was an automatic attempt to condition the battery. A DieHard 71227 charger (Schumacher makes the DieHard 71227 charger) did the same thing. After three discharge cycles, it stoped doing the "high-voltage treatment". Also, in AGM mode it went to 15.5 volts briefly during one of the 40 amp cycles. Although the instructions for DieHard Platinum and Odyssey batteries say to choose a charger with

Schumacher IPD-1800 Instant Power Jump-Starter with Docking Station

Schumacher IPD-1800 Instant Power Jump-Starter with Docking StationThe reasons that I bought this charger is because it has a docking stations which can be used to charge and store the unit when not in use. After the charging is completed, the docking station will enter a "floating charge" mode to prevent overcharging. Some other charger need to be monitored carefully since overcharging can damage the battery. With this unit, I can just leave it and forget it... Also, this unit is small enough that my wife can use it to jumpstart her minivan. Some other multifunction charger are so heavy, you'd have to be a weightlifter to carry the thing.

** UPDATE ** I originally wrote the glowing review below. This was a great product, while it lasted. Unfortunately, about 1 week after the 1-year warranty period ran out, the unit stopped accepting a charge. That is, I could not charge it either using the cradle or directly from the wall adapter. I called Schumacher and they could not offer me any help. A shame, but I can no longer recommend this device and I will be looking for a replacement.

UPDATE: I paid $88 for this when I purchased it in February, 2008. I see the price has increased, so I just wanted to note this difference so you take my comment about 'heck of a deal for the price' and 'comparison shopping' in the appropriate context. I am still very pleased with the unit but wanted to make clear that I am no longer completely certain that it's the best deal on the market. I have not recently done any comparison shopping to figure out if other units prices have changed.

Original review: Let me begin by saying that this is a sturdy, well-built piece of machinery. It also clearly can get the job done, period. My V6 Toyota Land Cruiser had a _completely_ flat battery, with a totally crudded-over positive terminal. I hooked this puppy up, and my engine ROARED back to life within 10 seconds of the connection being made. I haven't ever heard my engine start like that before, even when jumped from other jumper packs. Now, to comment on some other aspects of this equipment: It comes with a charging cradle, but you don't need to use it, because the AC adapter that plugs in to the cradle can also be plugged directly in to the jumper pack itself. So you can just stash the AC adapter in the car with the jumper pack, for mobile use. Also, this _can_ be used to power small appliances, but you'll need a cigarette-lighter adapter, because this doesn't have a regular outlet, only a cigarette-lighter outlet. Anyway, this is a heck of a deal for the price. I did a lot of comparison shopping to get the best value, and I'm very, very pleased.

Buy Schumacher IPD-1800 Instant Power Jump-Starter with Docking Station Now

I purchased this unit based on all the positive reviews, but unfortunately, I cannot say the same. I guess I must have received a defective unit. The main battery would not charge through the dock and the LED's on the dock were not in synch, as it showed full charge whether the main unit was attached or not, even before charging. The battery charged fine on its own and I concluded that either the dock itself or the battery contacts must be faulty. I could have done without the dock, but the idea of unprotected contacts being bare makes no sense. What made me decide to return it however was the unpleasant experience with Schumacher. After 3 days of calling, each time I was given the run around and they had no records of my issue (Like I was calling for the first time). Finally they decided I had to ship the entire unit (at my cost) so they can "test it". So much for customer service and warranty on a brand new unit out of the box. I decided to return it to Amazon and they paid for the return shipping. The 3 stars is a balance of 1-2 stars for the product, 0star for Schumacher, and 5+ stars for Amazon.

I am very impressed with this product as far as it's dependability and ease of use. I had a problem with a battery drain on my vehicle in which the battery would be dead every morning when I would go to start it. I used this product every day for a few weeks to jump off the car until we could find the source of the drain. It worked flawlessly every time I needed it. I had always been scared to jump start a battery, but with this product, it is so easy I didn't have any worries. I have had it about 6 months now and I love it! The peace of mind is well worth it!

Tripp Lite APS2424 Inverter / Charger 2400W 24V DC to 120V AC 14A / 55A Hardwire

Tripp Lite APS2424 Inverter / Charger 2400W 24V DC to 120V AC 14A / 55A HardwireI just purchased the APS2424 after a fantastic phone call with their technical support team.

I had been considering installing this unit in our Wood-Fired Pizza Truck (BasicKneadsPizza.com). We had purchased a nice generator, but after installing one on another truck, I wasn't blown away, even the quiestest Honda 3000 still stinks like a traffic jam.

James from Tripp-Lite's technical support line picked up quickly and gave me a free refresher course on physics; 36v input means 3 batteries in series, 24v=2 batteries. To double the capacity, a second bank in parallel would cost ~1/3 less with the 24v APS2424.

Not to mention the Auto-Transfer switch, and load sensor, this unit is basically going to be my prep table's personal assistant.

Our truck is going to rock this unit and two batteries in series. I am going to return an $80 transfer switch, sell a Parallax converter/charger for $100 and a Honda Eu3000is for $1200.

Generator system= ~$1600, noisy, stinky, needs gas and oil changes, huge amount of work to install.

Inverter system= ~$850, silent, maintenence free.

Sold.

I purchased this inverter for loads that have heavy inductive startup motors. Refrigerator, well pump, etc which are powered off my solar battery system. Works perfectly where an Aims 5000 watt unit failed repeatedly. Handles startup currents from inductive loads perfectly as long as you are in the rated overload capacity. Workmanship is excellent. Instructions are detailed. Well worth the extra cost in quality and ruggedness. Very happy with unit.

This was an easy install, plenty of power and good assortment of options.

I chose the 24V unit to lower the current draw requirement on the batteries.

With a couple of good AGM batteries it's a sweet backup for lights and most consumer electronics.

I connected the unit to a External Generator panel on my house for emergency backup power since power outages lasting more than 5 hours are extremely rare. (We are near a substation.)

My only complaint is not about the unit, it is about the documentation.

PWM Sine Wave does not describe the output wave form properly for most people. Searching for PWM Sine Wave often yields Pulse With Modulation generated Sine Wave which is a common way to produce "Pure Sine Wave". Searching for the definition of PWM Sine Wave yielded anything but the type of wave form this product produces.

The output of this Inverter is a "Modified Square Wave" in that it has a very short rise and fall time that approximates an alternating current and is compatible with most household electronics. There are advantages to this waveform, first and foremost the output is simple to generate so the product will be very reliable/rugged. Apparently there has been a shift in terminology over the years to "Pure Sine Wave" as apposed to just plain "Sine Wave", even "Modified Sine Wave" most of us knew was a square wave.

My only issue is that I have a medical device that needs to have "Pure Sine Wave" to properly drive the heater in the device. SCR controllers (AKA Dimmers) have a hard time with square waves and the output is unpredictable. If I had known it was not a "Pure Sine Wave" I would not have purchased this product.

No, I am not going to return it. I'll use it as a backup to the much more troublesome sine wave unit that I only need for my refrigerator and medical device.

If the product is "as is" I may as well buy it used for a fraction of the cost.

This charger appeared to have a lot going for it, but appearances can be deceiving. When it arrived the insulation on the charging wires was not inserted in the fuse holders, so I had to buy new holders and replace them to avoid the hassle and expense of sending it back--it is very heavy at 21 lbs. For a while it worked charging both batteries in my 27' sailboat, but it is incredibly noisy (a 60-cycle hum you can hear outside the boat with the cabin closed up), so loud that you can't sleep in the boat with it on. After a few months it stopped charging my house battery, giving a flashing red LED (check battery) signal. Fiddling with it would, sometimes, and randomly, allow it to charge the battery. Then after a year it stopped charging the start battery. I thought my batteries were toast, as I gave up and stopped even turning it on recently. The Guest 16102 I replaced it with is completely silent, and went straight to 'float' charging my batteries (it turns out they were almost fully charged by the engine's alternator on a recent long trip), even though the Schumacher showed flashing red LEDs for both output circuits, i.e. check (dead) battery. This was a waste of money, and the worse kind of product, one that works for a while and then stops working when the warranty has expired.

I bought this to replace a dead Schumacher charger I was using on my sailboat, and returned it because of the loud humming noise it makes. This unit also very heavy, clunky, and produces much heat. I purchased instead a Guest smart charger which has worked flawlessly for over two years now.

This charger is perfect in either single channel single battery, or dual channel separate battery mode, only charging at 10A per channel. It has linear power supply with a big-beefy transformer inside that should last for years. The LED indicators give you a basic idea of what is going on.

The problems with this charger come with using it in single battery, dual channel 20A mode. The charger supplies all 20A through one cable even though both are hooked up in parallel. The cheap yellow snap-together fuse holders get really hot when charging at 20A. Also the 14AWG wire is too small for a constant 20A draw. I cut off the cheap fuse holders and replaced them with Buss Heavy Duty ATC fuse holders and 30A fuses. That solved the hot fuse holder problem. I am planning on replacing the 14AWG wire with 12AWG also.

I bought this for charging two large storage batteries used for a battery powered emergency sump pump. Two 125AH batteries in parallel.

For the geeks out there... It actually alternates channels while supplying the full 20A. It will switch from one channel to the other every couple/few minutes. I used dual 50A current shunts to check the charger on two 125AH batteries wired in parallel. I'm guessing that Schumacher alternates channels to keep the output transistors from overheating and to distribute the thermal load. I'd really like to see a non-marine unit with a vented enclosure.

I'm very pleased with my SS-210A Automatic Charger/Maintainer. I purchased this unit to replace the old 10 amp charger in my cabin cruiser and after six months I find it to be working as planned. At first,I was surprised at the size and weight of the unit, but once I got it mounted it really didn't take up much more space than the unit I replaced, and it is much quieter. I check my batteries regularly and I find that I have to add water much less frequently than before. Overall, I give it five stars!!

BW Hard Shield Shell Cover Snap On Case for Verizon Samsung Brightside U380 + Car + Home Charger-Red

BW Hard Shield Shell Cover Snap On Case for Verizon Samsung Brightside U380 + Car + Home Charger-RedThis was a very good deal for the price. I love the new snap on case. It helps keep me from hitting the side buttons accidentally, which I was doing all the time with this being a new phone. I really like the color it is more of a burgandy than red though.

There is nothing to dislike, it is just what I wanted and expected. I would recommend it without reservation. Buy it, for the price it is well worth it.

gave the case away to another friend who needed their own case. the chargers work fine. only fault i could find was that the wall charger had some sort of plastic inside of it that you could hear when you shake it. overall, it's good. :) good price too.

I was pleased with the two chargers that came with this hard shield cover. The back cover worked well, the front cover didn't snap on all four corners but the seller was more than happy to provide a new one. The color is more maroon than red and matte finish, not shiny.

HELLA 706729011 Replacement Key for Battery Master Switch

HELLA 706729011 Replacement Key for Battery Master SwitchI recommend this key to anyone that needs one. The cost is cheap and it is a simple install. Great purchase.

Unlike the generic battery switches, Hella switches don't come with a spare key. I ordered one of these just in case. "Better to have and not need than need and not have."

2006 2007 2008 2009 Hyundai Sonata & 07-10 Elantra Factory Keyless Entry RemoteThis remote replaced a water damaged keyless entry remote. The replacement arrived promptly and the price was reasonable. Unlike some car model remotes where the car owner can reprogram the replacement, it was necessary to take the new Hyundai Sonata remote to the dealer for reprograming and we were charged about $50.00 for the service. Important to know: if you have two remotes for this model you must have the dealer program both, Everything is working fine now.

I bought this on amazon and took it to the dealer for programming, It works just as it should, and it saved me a ton of money

Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod

Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod
  • Full FM tuning capability for clear sound anywhere
  • Digital FM tuner with programmable station presets
  • 3 programmable favorite station preset buttons and easy-to-read LED display
  • Smart Digital Charger for fast charges; maximizes battery life
  • Compatibility:iPod Mini, iPod Video, iPod Photo, iPod U2,iPod 4th Gen w/click wheel, iPod 3rd Gen w/dock

As someone else already noted, there are better methods of listening to your MP3 player in your car, such as through the tape transmitter. For those of us who don't have it, though, this is a sufficiently apt substitute.

First, whoever said that there are 8 presets must be thinking of some other device. You only have 3 presets here, but you define them yourself from the whole FM range, an you can always deviate from them. Hence, this thing has an advantage over, say, the iTrip because you can easily surf between three stations if the one you're listening to now starts getting static.

Second, I find it powerful enough in most situations. I live in Boston, and drive around it often enough. Downtown, most stations will give you a small amount of interference, and that is probably the best you will get. Drive around the suburbs, though, and you can easily find around 3 stations that will play almost as well as your CD player in terms of quality.

The secret to this is to set your iPod volume somewhere around the middle to upper two-thirds of its capacity. If you set it to the maximum, all bass lines will be completely distorted. Set it to the middle, though, and you'll have rather crisp audio, although you will have to compensate for the lost volume by turning up the car radio. Hardly anything to complain about, though.

My two complaints with this device are these:

First, the marked price is far too high. You can find a much cheaper device on eBay, or even in the Amazon marketplace. I paid around $20 for it, plus delivery.

Second, some types of music sound distorted even at medium volumes on a lot of the stations. I have in mind the Waltz of the Snowflakes from the Nutcracker when I write this. Beside it, just about every song I played sounded clean, although sometimes a given station would encounter pockets of interference.

Given that a more powerful transmitter would probably end up messing up the radio reception of neighboring cars, I'm prone to think that this is an inherent problem to all FM transmitters. I think this is one of the better ones, though, because of its preset options, its ability to scan the whole FM range, the fact that it doesn't drain your iPod's battery, and the fact that you can manipulate your iPod volume on it for better performance. The iTrip can't do three of these. You will, of course, have to sit down in your car and look for usable stations manually, .2 by .2, but ultimately, and if you have no other option available, I think you will find this device to do a good job. Just do yourself a favor, and find a cheaper source.

Buy Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod Now

I have owned this iPod FM transmitter for about 11 months and have used it while driving thousands of miles through many FM radio markets. In urban areas this unit is not useable, because, despite the availability of the three FM presets, you can't find open FM frequencies in urban areas, and if you do, the unit's FM modulator is not strong enough to overcome adjacent channel interference from city FM radio powerhouses, and typical poor car stereo FM tuner performance (selectivity).

If you live in the country this unit's FM performance is just fine, unless of course you regularly travel to a nearby urban area.

Also, my unit "overdeviates"--the iPpod audio is distorted on loud passages when hooked up to my Dodge Durango with the factory stereo installed. When the FM transmitter is hooked to my Subaru's top-of-the-line McIntosh stereo, the audio is good.

I believe this product is overpriced, and should be sold with a caveat: Not useable in and around major cities.

It's only three stars now, because the Monster iCarPlay 200 wireless is a much better solution. It finds stations you could not find with the iCarPlay Plus, which I stopped using because it was just more hassle than fun to use driving in Los Angeles. Below is my original review of the iCarPlay Plus, before the "200" model came out:

*******

I have used the Griffin and Belkin FM transmitters, and the Monster is the only one that is useful for me driving around Los Angeles, where almost all of the available FM stations are in use. The Monster has a lot less static and locks onto the station a lot better than the other two. It is good to have the three pre-sets on teh Monster ... that are easy to set. I need the three pre-sets bacause as you drive, one station gets noisy (as you get closer to the transmitter of the real owner of that frequency) and you need to change to another. It is a hassle to change the station on the radio and also change the station on the Monster, but that is life with an FM transmitter. It is definitely an imperfect solution. (If you have a cassette tape player in your car, use the Sony cassette adapter instead. I never tried the Monster cassette adapter.) For people who drive shorter distances or who don't have as many FM station broadcasting nearby, the other brands might be ok.

I absolutely LOVE my monster I have used it for my iPod Classic and my 1st gen iPhone. Works great! Charges and plays like its say but... DOES NOT WORK on new apple products.. I've tried the new nano, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S... do not buy this if you have one of the newer products. It will still play through your stereo but it WILL NOT charge. Hope this was helpful!

I did a lot of online research before buying this transmitter. I had low expectations since it seemed like most of them have mediocre quality and problems of one kind or another especially in metro areas. I decided on this one since this best met the criteria I had set for the purchase:

1. Good Reviews

2. Price at $50

3. Easily protable from one car to another

4. Wanted the passenger to be able to control it in addition to the driver.

This product more than exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is awesome. I have never had any difficulty finding at least one station where there is no interference. Also, the protability and passenger use has really come in handy. It is great to let the passenger control the tunes.

I would highly recommend this product if your needs are similar to mine.

Permatex 81150 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, .33 oz Tube

Permatex 81150 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, .33 oz TubeAlthough sold for automobile bulb sockets (for which it works great), this product is actually silicon grease. "Dielectric" means that the silicon grease is an electronic insulator. See also Fantasea Silicon Grease Lubricant, "for all types of O-Rings"

Although ordinary automotive grease is very damaging to rubber products, silicon grease is great for ANY rubber products, and for use on ANY electronic connection (other than high-voltage switches). Not only does silicon grease prevent corrosion at electrical contacts, it also improves existing contacts.

THE DREADED BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH

After about 5 years of flawless operation, recently I got a "blue screen of death" on my computer, mentioning a parity-check error. Attempts to restart the computer just brought up the same "blue screen of death"---I could not even get to the minimal Windows configuration for trouble-shooting. I removed the memory boards, cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol, applied a thin layer of silicon grease to the contacts on the memory boards, and reinstalled the memory. Since then (a year ago), the computer works perfectly.

More recently my other (ca 10-year-old) computer has been getting progressivly flakier for about 5 years---if I opened and closed several demanding applications and/or surfed the web extensively---a lockup or crash was likely---so I routinely rebooted several times a day to avoid the lockups/crashes. Occassionally, even freshly booted up, I could not access certain files or folders (the only solution was to clear the recycle bin, delete the file or folder, and then restore it from the recycle bin). Running registry repair programs and other diagnostics did not help. Completely reformating the harddrive and reinstalling Windows and all my programs from scratch did not help. A new harddrive did not help. About once a month, the computer crashed with a parity-check error message---which began me thinking that I might have a similar problem with the memory board contacts. So during my last annual "spring cleaning" of the inside of the computer (particularly the CPU cooler), I also made a point of pulling the memory boards one-at-a-time (blowing any dust out of the contacts with canned air), applying silicon grease to the contacts, and reinstalling the memory boards. Since then (3 months ago) the computer has been working like new. REALLY!

It would be a good idea to coat the contacts of any boards or memory with silicon grease before installing.

EXAMPLES OF AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRIC USES

Does your car refuse too start when it's been raining for days? You could replace the entire ignition harness (for perhaps $100 plus labor)---or just coat the wires with silicon grease, being particular generous at the spark plug and distributor connections. No need to wipe off excess. Also pull off the spark plug wires (one at a time so you don't confuse them) and put a dollup of grease on the contacts.

Replacing your car battery? This stuff is far better than the petroleum jelly your father used to protect the contacts from corrosion.

EXAMPLES OF PLUMBING USES

Is your bathroom faucet leaking? Disassemble it, clean it, and rub silicon grease into all of the rubber seals. Let it set, wipe off excess, reassemble. Does your toilet run on and on after you flush it? Same solution.

EXAMPLES OF USES AS A LUBRICANT

Is the A/C plug for your juicer hard to push into the socket? Add a generous coating of silicon grease and stick it in and out of the socket several times to lubricate the socket. Petroleum-based grease or oil may conduct electricity and burn---making the connection worse. Silicon grease will not conduct electricity nor burn.

Is the door lock of your car stiff? Same solution, slather silicon grease on the key, and lock/unlock the door several times.

IMPROVING ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Does the right or left channel of your headphones drop out or sputter? Silicon grease will improve the connection.

Do you have to shake your TV remote to make it work? Silicon grease will improve the batteries connections.

Have you noticed? 40 years ago leaking battereies destroyed uncountable flashlights and transistor radios. Everyone knew that you had to remove batteries when not in use. But then battereies improved in the 1980s and 1990s and almost never leaked. But once again, batteries are leaking and damaging equipment. Silicon grease will at least protect your contacts from minor leaks, and will improve already damaged contacts.

RECONDITIONING RUBBER PRODUCTS

Does wind noise at high speed because of a poor door seal drive you crazy? Coat the seal with silicon grease. Rub it in, let it set, wipe off excess

Do you have a classic car with stiff dried-out rubber seals? This stuff is first aid. If they aren't too dead, silicon grease will bring them back to life, and protect them from further deterioration.

Sliding windows in your van hard to open/close? Coat the channels with silicon grease.

Within reason, you cannot use too much. Unlike ordinary oil and grease silicon grease does not attract dirt.

CAUTION

Silicon grease is NOT a replacement for petroleum-based grease as a lubricant for continuously moving mechanical parts. While silicon grease can "recondition" rubber belts and rollers (in computer printers, etc) it can also make them too slippery to do their job (instead use CaiKleenTM RBR Liquid, oiler dispenser concentrate 25 mL). Silicon grease can interfere with repainting cars---so it is best to avoid getting silicon grease on painted surfaces, particularly if you anticipate repainting the surfaces in the near future. In high-voltage switches, arcing can create silicon carbide which will deteriorate the contacts.

"How to Repair electronic devices damaged by bad batteries",

This size of dielectric grease is perfect for application to prongs between plugins when working on a motorcycle. I used it for a new stator and rectifier install, I have never got a more steady voltage. It may be a combination of things, but I know a big one is this grease, and it helps those old worn connectors slide right into place.

Buy Permatex 81150 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, .33 oz Tube Now

I have used Permatex products for years. I have no complaints about the quality of this grease, however: One .33 oz. tube is $14.06/oz. Even bought in the 6-pack, it's $7.31/oz. One 5.3 oz. tube of NovaGard G624 is $2.61/oz. To put it another way, you would have to buy 16 tubes of Permatex to almost equal one $13.84 tube of NovaGard, and that would cost you $74.24!!! (Or I guess you could buy 3 6-packs and "only" pay $43.44!) Selling this miniscule amount in the packaging that it comes in is the same as all of the complaints you read on amazon about the sometimes ridiculous amount of packing and box sizes that small products are sometimes received in. So, 5 stars for the product, 1 star for the tiny amount you receive for the price paid. By the way, for the unaware, dielectric grease is silicone lubricant. It's perfect for plastics because it doesn't break down the plastic material. It's also excellent for applying to the base of light bulbs so that they're much easier to remove when they burn out. You'll find uses for this stuff, so why not buy it in bulk and save a huge amount of money? Plus, the bigger tube is much easier to work with.
