I haven't jumped a battery with these, but I inspected the connections and the insulation and I'm impressed. The cables themselves are more than adequate for jumping a car battery.

If these fail to perform, once I actually do jump a battery with them, I will amend this review.

As others have expressed, it is annoying that the star rating cannot be amended as well.

I bought this to assemble my own car emergency kit. It's the only item with the length and gauge I wanted. Quality control is not great, since 2 of the clamps were missing the glow in the dark "Polarity labels", but other than that it does what it's supposed to do. No complaints.

First of all, when I got my shipment the box the cables come in was thrashed. Second the construction of this item is mediocre, I guess there isn't much to say about jumper cables as long as they work and they work.

I rated this inverter 5 stars because it charged what I wanted, and when I checked the ac output with a Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor 120 to 121 volts displayed. Also 63.2 Hz to 63.3 Hz displayed when I check the frequency. I only connected items that consumed less than 100 watts. The inverter was tested with two different computers and a cell phone. I charged a 90 watt computer by itself on my 100 watt inverter. Then I unplugged the 90 watt computer. Then I plugged in and charged the 85 watt computer at the same time with my cell phone. Because all of my items charged, I recommend this product. Also the inverter I received looked a bit different. The inverter that arrived does not have the socket size adjuster. (The little switch that is on the part that goes into the cigarette lighter.) This is good because I didn't need it. My inverter fit in both of my cigarette lighter sockets perfectly! Also you can look at the CyberPower web site and see that this inverter has a 150 degree swivel head. I hear the fan in the inverter, but the sound is so low, I do not mind it at all. Also I only used this inverter while the vehicle is turned on and running. This inverter works great for me!

Bought this at Wal*mart a few months back and at first it worked pretty well. Then it began cutting off and then back on again over and over which caused the computer to lose more charge than it was getting. The only way around this was to leave the car running the whole time it was in use.

A couple days ago it started making an awful noise when plugged in. The noise was more of an annoyance than anything until a burning smell came from it and smoke came out of the side air vents!

For the nearly $40 it cost to buy it I would say it is definitely NOT worth it (and it was a big mistake to throw the package and receipt out) since it lasted only about 3 months!

Edit: Just wanted to add that it also began blowing the fuse to the 12v accessory socket...

I didn't keep it long enough to rate it durability or reliability for a car trip. Which was the intention. I need a simple little inverter for my 15 watts of DVD playing power needs and a little for my cell phone. Well it was working fine for the short time I used it. But within a minute the fan kicked on and it was the loudest fan I have heard in an inverter. So I returned it right away.

Sad too as I love my CyberPower UPS systems for my computers at home. So I was looking forward to trying an inverter under their brand labeling. Even though they likely didn't design the internals.

Other than the loud fan, for the short time I did have it, I liked the firm swivel joint as it held it's position great. No annoying lights. But at the same time a dimly lit LED would have been nice to know it is getting power and working. But the fan makes that painfully obvious.

I also could not find details on the packaging or unit about the amperage of the USB port. It did power and charge my Galaxy S3, but not sure how fast. So not sure it's enough for a 2W + tablet, etc.

Sadly I just couldn't accept the volume of the fan and returned it. 1 star = "I hate it" on the Amazon scale, and the ultra loud fan made me "hate it".

I'm not to sure if this, is, the inverters fault or my car's but I will assume it is the inverter. First use it ran hot and got loud. After maybe 40 secs it tripped the cig lighter circuit and turned off.

I've gone through three of these (via returns and warranty repair) and none of them has lasted for long. The first one operated perfectly for a few months, then suddenly it began to emit white smoke, the smell of burning plastic, and failed completely. There was no change to the load on the device, it simply failed. The replacement operated properly for a few days, then it began buzzing loudly. I suspect that the power it was putting out was not correct because some devices operated on the power it produced and others wouldn't. If it was put under any heavy load (200 watts) it would beep and show a red indicator light. The replacement for that unit showed an incorrect voltage on the display from the moment it was attached -showed 30.2 volts when the batteries were actually at 25.6 volts. It worked anyway for a few days then it's indicator light turned red, it beeped, and failed to operate.

Sadly a large number of these devices are defective in manufacturing or there's some fundamental design issue. Avoid these defective inverters. They are nothing but trouble.

shipping was great but that was all. I ordered to be back up inverter for a 13 foot refrigerator when I finally need it I hooked it up and worked nicely for seven days and then it went dead. The inverter light goes on to green but no power is delivered. I tried different things with this inverter and it will not work at all. Justj seven days of service is just awfull dont waste your money .

The unit does work and seems built pretty well but when I turn the unit on it makes a constant buzzing noise. My main gripe with this unit is,you cannot properly use a LCD tv with it. When you plug in your tv to the unit, your tv will instantly start making a unhealthy buzzing noise. It makes the noise even when you have not turned on the television. I've had 3 power converters in the past. Two died because the internal fuses did not blow but the units did and one black and decker wouldn't put out enough power to keep my laptop running. the power and ground wires are veery flexible and they are true copper not aluminum.they come precrimped as well.the rcas are ok not the best but just fine for most.and the remote wire is cheaper but works fine as well.the insulation on the remote wire is about double the size of normal wire but the 18gauge remote wire is not high flex.but still this is a very good kit for the price.i liked it so much i bought two of them.

This switch interrupts the main power cable running from the battery in the trunk to the jump post under the hood (from there to the starter + alternator). The other terminals interrupt the ignition cable running from the ignition switch. Its large and easy to grip with gloved hands. I have been using this for about a month and a half and am very happy with it. I have not experienced any problems with interference at all. The only thing I did discover which is not pointed out in the instructions is, if you connect the wide connector for charging the player will not play. Only connect the ear phone out jack.

This is a great flashing light. I bought one to put on the back of my tractor to use as a beacon. It puts out decent light in daylight, but is very bright at night. I didn't want to mess with a wired light, so this battery powered light was the best option.

The magnet is strong enough to hold it well to a vehicle. My old work center used these lights on our trucks where we had to have a flashing light on at all times during the night. They lasted for at least 1.5 years. They are probably still there working, but I no longer work there to know for sure.

This device is well made and has a quality feel. The 2.1 amps is great for the USB charging ports (much higher than most), but 30W is a bit week for an inverter. Still that's enough for small devices and the limit is clearly stated here, so it should not come as a surprise. Note the inverter will run something like a GPS unit or Android tablet, PDA, ipad, e-reader, etc. and will also charge those devices requiring an A/C charger as long as they don't draw more than 30 W, so there are many uses for this on the road, in an R/V, and similar.

The price is reasonable, the quality is good, and it does what it says it will do. There's also a generous 3-year warranty. All in all, a handy gadget and a good value.

I absoubtly love the this car charger. I am not really a gadget guy but I do own a few things that I sometimes need charging like my kindle and a tablet. Both charge effortlessly with the Duracell charger. The connection is snug so I dont have to keep checking to see if my items are charging. There is not to say except the product works like it promised, is easy to use and compatable with my electronic devices that I use most often.

Once upon a time where ever cell phone and do-dad used proprietary chargers, a 30watt inverter could at least allow you to use what you have for at home on the go. This inverter does that well, but nowadays so many (thankfully) use some plug that can attach to a USB port or a charger with a USB output. Alas a double edged sword, on the one hand the included 2.1 amp USB port does a great job in those scenarios, but it almost makes the somewhat cumbersome size/shape of the device unnecessary (a stand-alone car USB adapter can accommodate that in a much smaller package).

Is this for you? Maybe, it definitely gets the job done, and it makes a great USB charger (2.1 amps is rather generous), but it can be awkward for some cars due to the locations of power ports.

Its the first time I am installing an autostart, that too on my 1984 VW Rabbit GTI. Since there are no adaptors for such an old vehicle, I had to splice all the wires and manually install everything, but thanks to their fairly well written installation manual, it was all done successfully.

I gave it only 4 stars, because the range is nothing like what they advertise. My building is just 400 feet away and it still has difficulty, like if I face towards the direction of the car with the remote antenna pointing towards it, it works, but if I simply turn around pointing the other direction, it does not. Inside building is totally out of question. I have no tested it, but I sincerely doubt their half a mile range even if you are in an open field pointing it towards the car.

I callled tech support to ensure if I mounted the antenna right and there is no problem there. I do not also have tinted glass to cause a reduction in range.

Tech support was reached very promptly and they answered my questions.

Okay, after having read some other reviews here, I need to comment. I have installed 3 Deluxe 500 units and several other models of Bulldog starters on my own vehicles. I have used Bulldog starters on my vehicles for 10 years. I am confident in saying that the Deluxe 500 is better than any other remote starter on the market. However:

if you are not electrically/electronically savvy, don't purchase this

don't purchase and expect your local shop to install it

don't purchase and expect your buddy to install it

depending on your vehicle, for 1st time installers, anticipate at least 16 hours to fully install the unit and program all options

the remotes can die after a few years, keep an extra on hand

get the T-harness

research and be sure to get any additional relays and security bypass units needed for you vehicle as prescribed on the Bulldog website

solder connections as prescribed in the instructions, don't use crimp connectors

recommend having the shop manual with wiring diagrams available for your vehicle, wiring harness colors don't always match between the Bulldog documentation as car manufacturers can change their wiring scheme within a specific make/model/year

don't expect tech support to bail you out

Having said all this, I work in an office with 12 other people that have remote starters. My Deluxe 500 is the only unit that will start my vehicle without walking out the parking lot. The unit is fully two-way, many starters claim to be two-way, but don't fully communicate to you when they are in range and when the vehicle has successfully started. The remote is labeled by function with images. Competing products often have remotes with buttons labeled "1", "2", "3", etc which means you have to memorize the functions for each operation.

Finally, I have had several other brands of remote starters in used cars that I have purchased. Without exception, I have ended up pulling those units out and replacing them with Bulldog units.

This remote starter worked well for three weeks. Then the keychain remote went haywire. Attempts to contact tech support using the phone numbers provided repeatedly failed. There is no e-mail address for contact. The web site for ordering new remote is down for construction. I have read a lot of your reviews and about 3 yrs ago I installed one of these for a friend. They do take a while to install. Bulldogs wire schematic for your car may not be exactly right and I'm pretty sure they tell you that. If you have a newer car or an older one with PASSLOCK or VATS you WILL have to buy extra stuff. Also depending on the options you want from the starter there maybe more relays and accessories to buy. If I'm not mistaken Bulldog does market the 500 on their website to professional installers. It is not part of the D.I.Y. line. If you got one that was defective its sux I know but those sorts of things happen. I have installed a lot of Bull dogs starters over the years and I've installed other brands as well. I can tell you for sure that features and quality for price nothing beats a bulldog. On a final note if you thinking of buying this for a newer car, say 2005 or newer, please do your homework first. There is likely to be at least a couple resistors you need to get it to work. It has also been my experience through no fault of bulldogs' that these newer cars are difficult to install in. There are several new models that don't even have a "hot" wire under the dash in the steering column any more. By all means consider this starter, it's a great starter just keep in mind if your not mechanically inclined this starter maybe difficult to install as it is not a D.I.Y. unit.

I received this item as an x-mas gift, and have been attempting to install for well over three weeks. The install instructions, DVD, and parts are fairly comprehensive. I had a problem where I would remote start the vehicle, then when I went to open the door to enter the vehicle, it stalls and dies. Several calls to customer service later, no one can explain the neccessity for the door trigger wire, nor can they explain it's proper function. In addition, the unit will not hold programming, and the remote start function is hit or miss. I also noticed today that the keyless entry feature is no longer functional. After several promises by tech support to have a "supervisor" call me back, I got a response from them. They issued an RMA to "inspect the unit" for me. Of course I have to pay to ship it to them, and they have no ETA on when I will receive the unit back.

One other note on "customer service". Of the six times I called, I only got one person that was willing to listen and try and help. Everyone else said "reset to factory defaults and call back if it's still not working". They would tell me this even after explaining that I had reset to defaults multiple times already.

It's an attractive product at an attractive price, but I would only purchase it if you were just wanting to gamble before dropping the $$'s on a quality unit.

UPDATE 1/11/2008:

After having this for over a year, it's held up. I did finally get the company to ship me a new unit. After installing the new unit, it's worked great. I minor design issues still, but the unit has served well the past year. I'm still not sure it was worth the pain of the installation.

I've owned a few Pioneer head units. This one is tied with an older Premier 860 MP. But this one is by far, for the money, the best. It is super easy to set up and works seamlessly with USB and/or iPod controls. The 4v pre-amp voltage is VERY nice. Which is actually what puts it on the same level as the 860, in my opinion. For 4v, its very clean. Better than the 6.5v from the 860, oddly. If you are reading reviews to help make your decision, take this one as some advice...get it. lol. The screen's auto-reversing can be turned off, the button press beeping can be turned off, the ignition switch off chimes can be turned off. Its a VERY clean sounding and strong head unit. VERY well worth the money.

I could go on and on but I think it's suffice to say that I have researched Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, JVC, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Jensen and others and none of them had the reviews or the features of the Pioneer. If you want a receiver that will allow you to enjoy your iPod/iPhone, you won't find a better receiver than this Pioneer.

I just got it yesterday and it took no time to replace my old system. I was concerned that I wouldn't know what wire needed to be connected to what, but luckily my existing system had the same color scheme! i cut the old wiring connections and re-connected the included harness and i was up and playing with the system.

It wasn't as intuitive as i had hoped for making band selections, but the manual was easy enough to figure out. The only drawback I have seen so far is that i cannot select a playlist from my iphone to play i can select a genre,artists, albums, songs, but not my playlists. However, there is an application that can be downloaded from Pioneer that will allow me to create playlists that can be played. Guess what I am about to do! :)

Also, I love the Pandora capability!

I bought this based on reviews and regret it. It is a good sounding stereo and play a wide variety of media but the interface is a big downfall.

First the good:

It does play mp3's from just about anything I can plug in via USB; not just an iPod but an SD card, Sansa and other players and media formats.

The sound is a lot better than the stock Ford unit, even with the EOM speakers.

Installation is pretty simple provided you know what you are doing.

The bad is that I really can't get over the interface. I imagine that this was aimed at some sub-market or a demo environment because it really is not good for a dash of a vehicle!

As some have pointed out, the MC button is really hard to press even in the driveway. Put a rubber band behind it and it might lessen the sensitivity.

There really is no good display setting that I like. You have dolphins, a DJ of some useless graphics, but no way to set this thing to display info that is useful like the time. It randomly shows the clock in a small piece of text or the elapsed time since you started the engine. It also turn the entire screen to a super bright display making nighttime driving a bit distracting.

I find it hard to tune in the audio but this might be my situation. Sometime there is no bass then it is pounding. There is a bunch of Audio and EQ settings via the MC button but getting in and out them is frustrating at best.

Really, if you have steering wheel controls or want to use this with just the remote (line-of-sight only) then this would be a fine unit. But it does not belong on a dashboard. Maybe in the trunk with a wired remote!

Maybe I just expect more though.

Great head unit, got it as an upgrade to aprevious premium series from pioneer too, this one has an even better sounding pre-amp, went nice with only 2 kits on front, a sub, 400 watt amp on 2+1 mode and a crossover for subfiltering and reducing the noise from my engine (it has some interference on the tweeters). The compressed sound enhancer works great (similar to creative's sound cards enhancers) and the 5 band equalizer too, these are the most significant changes I noticed... having 2 custom equalizer settings also helps. The lights are sort of bright even in the dimmerest mode, for night riding, but it does have a "switch display off" option that also functions much better.

About the USB thing, I don't have an Ipod or Iphone, so I use an android device and USB pen drive for music, together with the pioneer folder and file navigation. The thing is that this unit does not put the music from the folders on alphabetical order, the sorting only works with ipods... that, I discovered after some weeks, is because of the FAT system restrictions, so in order to have the music sorted as in a computer you need to use some FAT sorting software...

This FAT sorting solved the problem, but it would be much better to have this information on the user's manual, that I had to read over and over for nothing!!

That said, I recommend the product for its fidelity, easy usage and simple functions... only flaw that I remember is the main control being sometimes too sensible, but my previous device was even worse on this matter and it is kind of safe as I avoid using the control while driving faster or in bad conditions.

When I got my remote start installed at best buy i was the happiest man under the sun, it was the great to know in the cold I could start/stop, have my windows go roll up and much more. After a few months of pressing the start/stop, the function and aux button, the side plastic housing body started to crack then it broke. I tried super glue a few times and it was a quick fix, but nothing long lasting.

I started to use the second key that is only a one way, but the way that one is built is that if you put it in your pocket with anything then you might come back to a car that's running that you didn't want to be running and you won't even know for how long. (Yes, I am speaking from experience)

I gave this 3 starts not because it doesn't work right (the guy at best buy didn't do his job right I know), but because they need to make this side buttons able to be used and not sucked all the way into the housing.

Bought the complete alarm system, along with a seperate Leather case for the alarm remote. Noticed after pushing the remote start button over the winter that the silver part of the remote had cracked. Seems im not the only one with this issue. The remote cases need to be more durable.

I got this unit at another store,the reg price there was $99. We got it on sale (Black Friday) for a mere $21. Once I got it home and did the initial charge via the included dc charger-make sure plug is in and the oval ring around the big multifunction button turns "red", I've been using it. I had never heard of this type of bluetooth, I thought they were all the stupid looking earpiece things. One of my friends daughter had recently gotten a ticket for talking on cell while driving and had bought one of theses.

This comes with the window/visor mount. I use on visor since my window is a distance from me. When not using, I simply place on dash on a non-slip pad and it recharges in the sun...My friend who's daughter bought an LG model from AT&T for $78 says I sound MUCH better than she does on hers (she mounts to window). I also like the lcd display that I haven't seen on any other models. The volume on this is more than sufficient when all windows are up, down and I'm sure it would'nt sound well to both parties. One other thing, my wife was talking to my friend from passenger seat while we were driving and he could her her just as well and she was speaking in normal voice.

The build to this is very cheap (made in China-what a surprise). I read the others reviews and I'm sure there are some bad ones out there giving its cheap feel, but mine is working like a champ!!! I would NOT pay anywhere near the $99 reg price.

This speakerphone has the potential for being a very neat little unit, but it fails in its ultimate purpose: being a CAR speakerphone. While it may have good sound quality to the person you are calling if there is no background noise (in other words, if you're NOT DRIVING IN A CAR), once you introduce the whoosh of a moving car, you are rendered incomprehensible to the person listening to you.

CONS:

Made in China apparently Nextar is a Chinese company. Kinda shows in the quality and feel.

Text display very hard to read if you're wearing polarized sunglasses. The kind you would wear WHILE DRIVING. Also, it only flashes information on the screen rather than keeping it there (to conserve power?), so it's easy to miss what it says.

Speaker at max volume (the kind you need on the highway) makes the holster vibrate (buzz) when the other person is speaking. The package comes with a scrap of sticky foam rubber that I think you are supposed to wedge into the holster somehow to dampen the vibrations.

Status LED the phone button is lighted from behind when the unit is on. Red for charging, blue for active. But it is VERY dim, so basically not viewable during the daytime.

Microphone With highway noise, although you may be able to hear the person you're calling, they can barely understand you. My wife said "You sound like you're in a tunnel and I can barely understand you", even if I tried to talk loudly.

For such a small device, this thing is amazing. I had another solar charger mounted on the top right of my windscreen in my vehicle and it broke (because it got to hot... go figure). I found this one on another site (not amazon) and was able to grab 2, one for each of my vehicles.

Display This is the most inexpensive display bluetooth speaker (solar or not) that I have found. The display tells you when there is a call coming in, and will let you know when the call was disconnected. It also displays a little battery when it is charging via solar or the USB charger.

Speaker/Range Even with my low-end phone, the speaker works great. I do not have to take my phone out of my pocket for it to connect, but if I want to have a conversation, the phone has to come out. Once out, people can only tell I am on a cell phone, and not on a speaker or a bluetooth device. I can hear people even at high speeds with the windows cracked, very powerful speaker.

(The people complaining about the quality should check their phones against other bluetooth speakers before blaming this device for their call quality)

Usability Unlike most bluetooth devices, this one has a toggle switch that will let you turn the device on and off quickly and easily. The center button is used to make calls, disconnect calls and ant to ignore incoming calls (if pushed twice). On the side there are 2 volume buttons, up and down. The display tells you how loud or quiet the volume is (similar to that of a phone).

Initial Setup/Pairing This took maybe 30-45 seconds. Holding the main oval button on the device, I told my phone to look for devices. It found it, and paired it without any code or password. The display even gave a confirmation that it had paired with my device, and displayed both the name of my device and the model (i.e. BOBS-MOBILE LG VX10000)

Battery Life Its solar... as long as you are not in the North Pole in the Winter, you will be fine. Even so, they do supply a universal USB car charger (that will work with ANY USB cable...yes even iPod/Pad/Phone so you can charge it on the go. I haven't had any problems with battery life or talk time.

All in all this is an excellent product... and at around $20 dollars, I don't see why anyone would not buy this over those silly bugs that hang off the ear.

I have been using this device for 2 months now and it works great. The display is really handy for knowing whose calling and remaining battery life. For those having problems hearing from this device, try turning up the volume on the cell phone and the NXBT-002. If the volume is low on your cell phone so will the volume on the NXBT-002. Trust me when I say, this is a very good device and for $20 you just can't go wrong.

This unit is great for hearing aid wearing people. The only bad part is that the solar does not keep up with my usage (over 5 hours a day) but with the plug in adapter it just keeps on going. Great price , I have purchased devises which cost over $ 80.00 which do not work as good as this unit.
