EnGive Samsung Galaxy S4 Windshield Dashboard Car Holder Mount + Cleaning Cloth

EnGive Samsung Galaxy S4 Windshield Dashboard Car Holder Mount + Cleaning ClothAt first I thought it would be cheap since the it only cost $10 but it actually feels like its a official Samsung mount that would cost at least $20. I recommend it

Overall, I like the design and function of this mount. The only issue I've been running into is that the mount fits the phone VERY tightly. This means that if you use a case it definitely won't work for you. Also, believe it or not, I can't even fit my phone in with a screen protector on it! Every time I try, the mount pushes the screen protector off of the phone in the corners.

So now is the time to decide which I like more... the protection of the screen protector or the convenience and fit of this mount.

I was a little skeptical about buying this car mount for my Galaxy S4, But i was actually surprised how well it works. The phone fits perfecly and its so easy to put in and take out. If it ever breaks I will definitely buy onother one. Good for the price. Get it now.

E-Z Red S101 Battery Hydrometer

E-Z Red S101 Battery HydrometerEasy to use and quickly shows which battery (and which cells) are good, fair or poor. I have two old golf carts that have questionable batteries, and its always been difficult to determine which battery to replace (other than by age), and when I did this I quickly found the bad battery in each cart, and when replaced greatly improved the charging and charge holding capacity of each GC. For the price, you can't beat it.

Spend the couple of extra dollars on this. The wide range of movement on the dial makes it easier to see small differences between individual cells in a battery. It dosn't say so on the web-site, but on the box it states that it self compensating for tempurature.

Buy E-Z Red S101 Battery Hydrometer Now

Short of a laboratory grade instrument, this hydrometer gets the job done. I use it to monitor my solar power system battery bank, so it's important that it gives accurate and repeatable measurements. The built-in temperature compensation is a help no need to use cumbersome and confusing compensation charts. My only (small) complaint is that you need to be sure that the device is level when filled with battery acid or the reading will be off a bit. If you pay attention to this detail you'll be fine.

[edited] Upgrading from 2 to 3 stars.

Overall, this tool will do a good job of letting you know whether any of your cells are bad. If that's all you need to know, then it's is a fine product.

I found, however, that the readings are not consistent enough to provide accurate measurements. Test after test usually ranges plus or minus a graduation (about .025 each).

Previously, I had a complaint that it was difficult to tell if the proper amount of fluid was being used because the meniscus (curvature of the liquid) didn't match with the fill-to line, but was informed that standard practice is to read at the bottom of the meniscus. I may have known that at some point, but certainly forgot about it. So, it turns out I've been using a number of devices incorrectly, but unfortunately with this one the readings are still inconsistent. Regardless, I've found this item to be useful enough that I'll give it a star boost.

This Hydrometer give different reading at different times. Not worth the money. Spend a little more and get a hydrometer that works. I purchased a different one and it works fine. One of the glass ones with the temp scale built in works much better for me.

Ok so I got something similar that directly put my GPS on power sync mode so I was unable to use while driving. But here's a trick that might work depending on your GPS.

Turn on you car, plug the charger in your car (in the cigarette lighter adapter) but don't plug it to your GPS yet.

Turn on your GPS, when you see the battery sign on the top right of your screen (the sign that shows how much battery is left) touch that sign for about 8 seconds, your GPS should turn to diagnostic mode, plug your charger to the GPS then press exit, your GPS should now work as usual!

You will have to do this every time, but it only takes a few seconds to do all this....

Hope this helps...

Seems to work just fine. Why 4, not 5 stars? Because 5 stars says "I love it". I don't "love" things like chargers and such. I like it fine, as long as it keeps working, and the price was fine.

WouXun KG-UVD1P 136-174/420-520 MHz Dual Band Handheld Two-way Radio + Wouxun Walkie Talkie Remote Speaker Microphone + USB Programming Cable for Baofeng UV-5R/ Wouxun UVd1P/ UV6D Two Way Radio
  • Handheld Two-way Radio with Dual band Dual frequency Dual display Dual standby
  • Dual Band, Dual Frequency, Dual Display and Dual Standby
  • VHF&UHF, UHF&UHF or VHF&VHF working modes

Can't beat it for the price. Well built. Covers large bandwidth.Tons of features. Great audio. I get great reports from others and I like the sound of others who have this unit. Came with lapel mic and hand mic. One downside is that the manual is NOT written for a beginner to amateur radio. The manual simply explains what the menus are and what the options are for each menu. There is not discussion about what the menu item is used for or why one needs it. Search the web for alternate Wouxun programming instructions.

Beginners will almost certainly need to get on a local repeater to meet and talk with others (unless you alreayd have a friend locally you can talk to). Remember this... Frequency mode is your sandbox. Channel mode is your storage. For beginners:

Search the Internet for a repeater in your area. Get the receive frequency, and teh PL tone frequency and offset direction. Common references to repeaters are like this: 146.300 + PL 107.2. Offset for the 144 mhz range (2 meter band) is typically 600khz and very often in the up direction (+). Offset for 440mhz range (70 cm band) is typically 5mhz and often down (-).

Put the radio in Frequency Mode.

Tune to the receive frequency (e.g. 146.300). You may be able to hear people on the repeater.

Use the menus to set the offset to 0.600 for 144mhz range or 5.000 for the 440 range.

Use the menus to set the frequency direction to + or depending on the repeater reference.

Use the menus to set the PL tone (e.g. 107.2)

Press the push-to-talk button and annouce yourself. You should hear the repeater reply to you and hold a carrier open after you release the push-to-talk button.

At this point make sure things are working. Now use the menus to save the settings you have as a channel.

Repeat this "get things working in frequency mode then save what you have as a channel" method for any frequencies or repeaters you may want to use.

In channel mode you can tune in all the channels you have saved. Your channel numbers are for your reference. Unlike CB radio and marine radio, amateur radio does not have universally assigned channels. If you save 162.400 mhz as channel 1 then for you channel 1 is the weather. Someone else may have a different frequency as their channel 1.

Goal Zero 11406 Guide 10 Plus Silver Battery Pack

Goal Zero 11406 Guide 10 Plus Silver Battery PackDon't try charging a Kindle 3 with this battery pack. I connected it to my Kindle and shortly there was smoke from the Guide 10. It's dead now. There should be some current limiting built into the unit (other than just burning up). Energizer 2500 mah nickel metal hydride batteries used.

Later that same day: Goal Zero offered a free replacement when I contacted them about getting the unit repaired. Hard to beat that kind of customer service.

I find it difficult to underhand why this unit is an add on item. This is a more versatile unit due to the up to 1.0 amp ability.

I have used it just a little so far to verify the ability to charge the high drain iPad.

Overall a solid system and while I don't like having to buy two separate chargers, I am glad for the ability to recharge 8 batteries at once with the Nomad 7.

Pros:

1.0 amp recharge ability.

included batteries are low discharge 2300mah type. Good cells.

can charge in addition to the regular guide 10 on one panel.

Cons:

shouldn't have to buy this as a separate unit.

Hope that helps.

I purchased a kit at my local Costco during a Goal Zero road show back in March that included the Nomad 7 solar panel, the Guide 10+ along with several of the cables etc that are normally sold separately. So far everything has worked great except for the Guide 10+. They claim that the Guide 10+ will charge the average cell phone 3 times, I have an HTC EVO with the standard battery and since it is a smart phone I knew that I would get fewer charges. I was expecting to get at least 2 but my experience has been not even one full charge before the AA batteries are depleted. This might be acceptable except for one glaring omission in its design by Goal Zero. I do not know if they just did not think about it or wanted to save a penny on its manufacture but it does not have a blocking diode in its circuit. What does this mean? well a blocking diode prevents what ever you are charging from discharging back into the Guide 10 batteries when they become depleted. I was not paying close attention to charging my cell phone and when I looked at it the battery was indicating only a 50% charge when a few minutes earlier it was around 90% charged. When the AA batteries became depleted the cell battery then tried to charge the AA batteries back up because of the Guide 10 not having a blocking diode. This is at least for me unacceptable and a very poor design!

I bought this as a package with their Solar Panel and the Guide 10 Plus. I liked the idea of having a battery charger, coupled with a solar panel, that could be used to charge small electronics. My first attempt to use this was on my Iphone 5 with the pin adapter that lets you use an older charging cable. This immediately fried it. I should have learned my lesson there, but I really wanted this to work thinking it was the adapter for my phone. Later that day I plugged my Kindle Fire into the Guide 10 and fried my Kindle. I think by Trial and Error we can determine that this is a great battery charger but is not suited for much else although Goal Zero claims it is. I contacted customer support on this issue. They sent me a really nice note saying that this should not happen but pretty much to have a nice day. Please don't buy this to charge anything other than batteries. I have numerous chargers for small electronics that have worked flawless. This isn't one of them. Unfortunate. Their Solar panels are quite good, their battery packs....eh. My one star is based on them advertising this won't cook small electronics and their almost moronic mail to me not understanding they may have a faulty component and they should replace it. I am still working on getting a reply to my mail back to them. Thus far after three days, nothing.

Want Goal Zero 11406 Guide 10 Plus Silver Battery Pack Discount?

I have fully charged these batteries several times and when I attempt to use them they are nearly or completely discharged. I originally thought it was the charger somehow discharging them during storage so I removed batteries after charging them fully and stored on my desk, same result. I purchased the flexible light to use while camping but unless batteries are fully charged they wont even power the LEDs. I will be purchasing a different brand of AAs to test soon to try to isolate the issue. Upset.. like the idea/concept of goal zero but I probably wouldn't purchase other products because of this issue.

Black & Decker FL3WBD 3W Waterproof Spot Light

Black & Decker FL3WBD 3W Waterproof Spot LightThe battery on this spot light lasts a long time. I recently had it on High for 140 minutes just to test how long long it would last. That is not bad at all for a rechargable spotlight.

This spotlight is a point object spotlight. Meaning it has a very narrow focused beam that travels a long distance. It is not good for illuminating a large area like a wide beam flashlight will do.

Flashlight tech has come a long way. This rechargeable pistol-grip 3 watt LED flashlight is amazing. I use it for boating and keep it at the bedside for protection--it is a blinding source of light.

I purchased it for $21 on sale and almost a year later, that feels like a bargain. Good job, Black and Decker.

Buy Black & Decker FL3WBD 3W Waterproof Spot Light Now

I bought this spotlight a little over a year ago. I was very satisfied with the long throw capabilities and has been very useful. However, a few weeks ago, when the light was switched on, it would only stay on for about one minute, go out, and start beeping rapidly. The red light on the back flashed rapidly too. It does this on a full charge. When charging, it appears to charge normally, but will not stay on. The short lifespan is very disappointing and there does not appear to be a way to replace the battery.

I think the build quality is good. One reviewer stated that it takes two hands to turn the light on and off, I disagree with this statement. I can easily turn the light on and off using one hand. The multicolored LED and the audible alarmnare both very useful features. My only complaint is the fact that the 12 volt power cord was not included. Really? How much could that cost a dollar? Luckily, the cord from my old spotlight fits. I wanted this unit for my boat and the waterproof feature is awesome.

I am a retired police officer . . we LOVE light sources and are constantly assessing them. We prefer an intense light that has great distance as opposed to one that throws out a weak, lateral flood light (just move the spot around, and besides, you'll have about a 30 foot diameter of lateral light in front of you) . . plus that intense spot. This is the most effective, powerful and intense hand held, portable light source I have EVER held and used. . . it is comparable to the spot lights mounted on our police vehicles . . I have NEVER been so impressed with any hand held light. The ONLY drawback is the "on/off" design, in that you need to use both hands to turn it off and on . . but considering the highly unusual capability of the light . . the switch's inconvenience is a small price to pay. I just purchased a second B&D light (same model) to keep in my truck (it has a vehicle power source adapter cord available . . call the 800 B&D number in the directions). It only charges when the ignition is "on", however, considering the time the light holds a charge, with normal use of your vehicle, it will stay charged. It's so small, it easily slips into the console. I have never had a flashlight in my vehicle in which I had so much confidence. It's an intricate part of my vehicle's standard emergency equipment . . fire extinguisher, traffic vest, glass punch, first aid kit, etc.

This light is an IDEAL gift . . they may not appreciate it at first . . but wait until they take it out and light up a tree 100 yards away . . you'll hear from them the next day. As we know, it's water proof . . and I can now attest, it's shock proof too. I inadvertently dropped it 15 feet to the unforgiving cement below . . no damage! I have had and used extensively, Stream Lights, Kel Lights, Mag Lights, Sure Fire lights and many others. NOTHING compares . . I'll never purchase another model light source. If you don't like it . . send it back (it will NEVER happen)! Everyone stay safe, Jim

Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 25W 12V

Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 25W 12VProduct Manufacturer: Global Solar Energy

Model Indication / Branding: Sunlinq 25 Watt folding solar panel

Manufacturer Model Number: PN 22127A

Weight: 26 ounces / 737 grams

Output Unloaded: 15.6 VDC

Rated Output: 12 VDC

Nominal voltage: 14.3 VDC(Averaged)

Power: 1500mA

Connector type: SAE 2 Pin Connector "Junction"

Sunset Anti-Feedback Diode: Yes

Cell composition: Copper Indium Gallium diSelenide (CIGS)

Open size: 34" x 20" / 86.36 cm x 50.8 cm

Closed size: 8.5" x 10.5" x ~2.5" thick / 21.59 cm x 26.67 cm x 6.35 cm

This panel is my first foray into folding portable solar storage. The outer shell material appears to be a plasticized ballistic "rip stop" type nylon material [pattern] of at least a few mils thickness. (I will break out the micrometer if anyone is truly interested)

This product does not technically fall under the mil spec construction guidelines as identified by the manufacturer. The mil-spec units start at 30 Watts (or 62 Watts) and do not include the "accessory kit" . The accessory kit is only included with the 25 Watt and below units. I have not verified the low end of the scale for the accessory kit being included. But the buyer would be wise to ensure that if the kit is not included, that they have it.

This product material is stiff below 75F / 23C and prone to maintaining a memory. If allowed to be stretched out during daylight hours it will mostly conform to the flat or mildly curved surface below it, however below this temperature one will experience some mild displeasure at attempting to fold it when the following to conditions have been met. The materials has a core temp of >75F / 23C and it has been allowed to cool in a open/unfolded position. To create the least amount of stress on the panel one must consider folding these panels when warm. Unfolding the panel does not pose the same challenge as they will conform to the open position once warm.

This solar panel creates voltages that can be unhealthy for sealed/maintenance free batteries/ gel batteries and other types of batteries that do not allow the replenishment of water/acid levels. While the amperage levels are well below the unsafe levels, overcharging batteries by applying high voltages over long periods of time can produce undesirable performance characteristics in the batteries. The optional voltage regulator / charge controller is HIGHLY recommended.

This is a casual use panel. The intended purpose is to suit the qualifications of being ultra portable, mildly rugged and super cool.

The efficiency falls in between that of a rigid glass /silicone panel and above the older amorphous technology. Under peak/ideal conditions somewhere around 19%.

This panel is capable of charging smaller electronic devices directly so long as its output is regulated. On extremely bright days with low load is easily capable of producing voltages that have the potential to severely damage most consumer electronics.

In my setting I use it to keep several gel cell batteries (in parallel) topped up while car camping. This is easily enough power to run many strings of LED lights, a moderate sized car based audio system and the 12VDC margarita blender occasionally through a night and easily for 5-7 days of car camping with no outside input.

I cannot speak to survivalist purpose, but I must say that given proper care and conditions I would expect these panels to work as well as any other glass / silicone unit without the weight. Perhaps even longer for the mil-spec version.

As far as bang for the dollar is concerned. If you are looking for huge power outputs. These are not the panels you are interested in. These panels are built solely for the purpose of being lightweight, rugged and portable.

And with that purpose in mind I must say that i highly recommend them!

Used this product only a few times so far. It has not let me down. I would recommend using the charge controller with it. I hooked up two 7A-hr batteries (from a computer UPS). My system filled my backpack, but wasn't too heavy for our hike. This system worked great to keep my sat-phone charged as well as power left for charging some dry cell batteries.

Buy Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 25W 12V Now

This is actually a pretty nice solar charger. It only has two negative aspects. First, it only has an energy efficiency rating of about 7%, and even with tender loving care, you can forget about it lasting more than about 3-4 years.

Originally touted as "weatherproof," this Global Solar device actually can be ruined by rain. As for the sun, it tends to dry out and crack when exposed to long sessions and the materials break down with sustained use. Even when pampered, a 3-year lifespan is all that can be hoped for, and this according to the manufacturer. It's great for the camper or hunter, who needs to pack it in a backpack, but somewhat lacking for the survivalist, who expects a 25+ year service life.

The 6W or 12W may be the way to go unless money is no object. Sadly, there's no other option except heavier glass paneled portable units, which weigh about nine pounds. If cared for, though, the heavier glass unit will provide significantly longer, if still indefinate, use.

Read Best Reviews of Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 25W 12V Here

I had previously purchased the 12W version and discovered it to be very effective, especially on cloudy or overcast days. Since the 12W version had served me so well, I decided to purchase the more powerful 25W version even knowing the company is now out of business and the obvious greater expense.

I travel frequently in a van camper where weight & space limitations are an ever present factor, which is why I was attracted to the light weight, flexible technology in the first place. I also like to boon-dock; in those instances a well charged battery is essential.

The first thing I noticed about the 25W version is its tendency to retain a shape memory. Presumably, because the internal wires are heavier to be able to carry more electricity? Don't know, I'm not that savvy about these things.

My only concern about this model, is whether or not those wires will break with repeated opening and closing of the unit. The 12W version does not display that tendency.

A few months ago I replaced all the interior lighting in the van with LED bulbs, they are pricey but their lower power consumption, while providing adequate lighting, has proved to be very helpful, leaving more power available for the battery operated fan, TV or DVD player.

I also purchased the "Y" cable so both panels can be used simultaneously and as the literature recommended, a charge controller to prevent battery damage. So far it is all working well for my situation. If anything changes I will revise this review.

Device & Manual quality show this is an obvious Knock-Off Product.

Overall

-It works "OK". I would recommend spending $100 and get the TopDawg Model. It has to work better.

-Guess for $50 I can't complain too much. At this price I didn't have great expectations.

Black & Decker 300 Amp Low-Profile Jump StarterI have had this model for over 3 years and it never stops amazing me the amount of power this little pack delivers, ive used it from everything from jumping lawn tractors to 200+ diesel engines. good unit, rugged, convenient 120 male charging system makes any extension cord the right charger. the on off switch is also a nice feature that seams to help prevent it from loosing a charge over time. id buy another

This worked great the first couple times was able to jump start my trucks failing battery so I could go get it replaced. I expected the charge to wear down after a month or so (the instructions recommend that you recharge it once a month) but I though I would be able to recharge it more than twice. One recharge was fine, the second a few months later took a lot longer, the third a few months after that never happened the status light would just flicker, and after 12 hours charging it was still at zero. Waste of money.

After fully charging the unit I attempted to start my Craftsman garden tractor whose battery was weak. Well to my dissatisfaction after connecting the B&D Jump Pack to the battery had little or no effect on the performance of the cranking of the engine which I couldn't get started. Feeling that there may be a problem with the garden tractor I attempted to jump start my Sonoma P/U with a 6 cyl engine which was totally dead and after connecting the B&D battery pack again it had no effect whatsoever and wouldn't even crank the engine. I had purchased this unit as a replacement for my Husky Jump Pack which I had received about 3 years ago as a gift. The Husky outperformed this unit by leaps and bounds it would crank the P/U with a dead battery and had no problems starting my garden tractor. This Black and Decker jump starter is conveinent and works great at first. If you keep this in your car (like most common-sensed Americans would) it will loose it's charge after about 2 months. Okay, no big deal, it's to be expected that these batteries need some maintenance. Unfortunately, when I went to recharge the battery, it wouldn't hold a charge! What's that I hear? Oh yeah, $60 down the pooper. WOULDN'T BUY AGAIN

International Electronics CWA2000 Add on Sensor

International Electronics CWA2000 Add on Sensor
  • CHAMBERLAIN CWPIR ADD-ON SENSOR

Bought this for my business. Was the 2nd or 3rd entry alert system I've tried. I assumed that for the price, it must be better than the other battery operated sensors. I was wrong. Works about 60% of the time, have customers at front desk and don't know. Resorted to supplementing the system with bells on the door again. Alert tone is VERY quiet, even on max volume. Surely there's SOMETHING better out there. Keep looking for it...

Griffin NA15005 RoadTrip Handsfree for iPod, iPhone and Smartphones -Black

Griffin NA15005 RoadTrip Handsfree for iPod, iPhone and Smartphones -Black
  • Play your iPod or iPhone on your car's FM stereo while you recharge its battery .
  • Flexible steel neck and case-friendly cradle holds your iPod or iPhone securely where you want it .
  • Easy SmartScan 1-button setup finds the best frequency for you .
  • Griffin SmartSound adjusts the signal for best sound, always .

Just arrived. Took it out for a spin around my neighborhood and it just works. Setup took under five minutes. It suggested I download the app. I did and it made the setup that much easier. Not having to press and hold buttons to set/change stations is quite nice. The interface of the app is a much larger display to read. Well worth the download.

I live in a VERY saturated city and the stations hold well. However the stations suggested by the SmartScan feature were not the best by a long shot. Fortunately I knew and had already set the best channels on my radio. The phone works very well. My voice, according to my parties, came through very clear with no background noise. It was hard to tell I was in my car. Their voice on my end was also very clear. Conversations can be had without shouting by either party.

Static still creeps in but that's common in a saturated market such as mine. I have yet to find a transmitter that was static-free. However, I came close with the last RoadTrip model. Changing the output to mono gave a clear static-free sound. The loss of the sound stage was noticeable but not unpleasant.

The design is very sleek. Soft blue lights provides a very pleasing effect at night. The display is very easy to read and very nicely designed. The menu can easily be navigated without reading the manual.

It's nicely built. However I found the swivel on the holder a bit looser than I'd like. That's my only concern so far. So, I'm keeping the box and packing materials handy just in case. There's no need to remove even the bulkiest case (short of military grade) I can imagine. The holder is adjustable and is nicely padded with soft rubber.

Bottom line:

It's the best FM transmitter I found so far for the iPhone 4.

I was a little hesitant to purchase and FM transmitter for my car. I heard they didn't work as advertised and that I would hear a lot of static with my music. But when I bought a used car and an FM transmitter was the only way I'd be able to listen to my iPod, I needed to get one.

The Griffin Roadtrip Hands-Free was the only practical option when it came to FM transmitters. It plays and charges the iPod just like it's supposed to and the ability to talk on the phone through the car stereo and microphone is really nice. The only design flaw I can think of right now is that instead of pausing the iPod when a phone call comes in, it mutes the music. I have songs on my iPod because I like the music and I don't want to miss them if I have a long conversation on the phone. You can still manually pause the iPod, but it creates an extra step.

In terms of performance, I've heard that sound quality can depend quite heavily on the location of a car's antenna. Mine is built in to the rear window and I'd say sound quality is pretty good. If I listen hard, or during pauses between songs, I can usually hear a little static. The biggest factor in sound quality is the competing radio stations. I've found a station that maintains good quality for my trip from work to home, but if I deviate from that path, I usually have to use the Roadtrip's built in station finder. It usually does a good job of picking clear stations, but sometimes it only lasts for a few minutes.

In terms of the physical layout, the buttons are easy to find and press, and the lighting of the screen is not too bright for night driving. I love being able to rotate the iPod dock and move the neck around. It holds the position well, though I've only had it for about two months.

If you're looking for a good FM transmitter, I'd highly recommend you purchase this one. It's not perfect, but in my eyes, it's the best one one the market.

I was awaiting this car adapter for my iPhone for months to be released as my current Belkin TuneBase product which I have two was working except the LED numerals are burning out in each.

The stalk strength seems sufficient for most use. The adapter holds an iphone but a bit looser than the Belkin product a little wobbliness can occur.

I haven't tried the Bluetooth mode yet but the biggest problem with this device is weak FM signal transmission. I bought two of these and each behaves the same. In sport utility and crossover vehicles, the FM antenna is often not located near the front window. In both of my cars they are on a rear quarter window. The FM is almost complete static unless I cup my hand behind the unit essentially turning myself into an antenna. In a car with the FM antenna up front, the signal strength seems sufficient.

I discovered through trial and error that one can wrap a narrow gauge wire around the top of the stalk where it pivots to connect to the base. This appears to be near where the FM transmitter is located. This wire behaves like a passive antenna and one can then position the length of wire to an optimal position to optimize the signal output. I decided to wrap the wire around the antenna feed that leads into the back of my car radio. So it's actually not completely wireless a user modification is required if you have a sport utility or your car's FM antenna is not near the front.

I was under the impression this had a 5 watt FM transmitter but reading up, I think the specs only mean it draws 5 watts of power to power the whole unit. There is no way a full 5 W FM signal can't reach an indoor antenna 6 feet away. I believe this could be an electronic engineering deficiency in its design.

If this flaw gets fixed, then I would increase my rating to 5 stars. Right now, it has to be a buyer beware for you alpha adopters.

Like other reviewers, I waited months for this unit, only to be severely disappointed. The FM signal output is so weak as to be almost useless.

It's not because of any FCC-mandated limits, either. I've owned several other FM transmitters (major brands, mind you, not no-name Asian knockoffs), and the RoadTrip Handsfree is hands-down the worst of the lot.

Here's how lame it is: I live in Central MD, where there aren't any truly clear frequencies, so much as there's one empty frequency between stations, all the way up and down the FM dial. With every other FM transmitter I've had, I could tune it to one of those between-station frequencies, then use the Seek button on my car's radio to tune into that frequency, as if my transmitter were its own "station".

Not so on the RoadTrip Handsfree. The Seek button went right past my chosen frequency as if there was nothing there. The signal is THAT weak. And my car's antenna is pretty much directly above the RoadTrip unit.

The upshot is that no matter which frequency I try, the signal is constantly overtaken by static as I drive, and my music fuzzes in and out. I can cup my hand around the stalk of the thing, as another reviewer noted, and that seems to improve the signal a bit, but that's about it.

Haven't used it for a phone call yet, so I can't speak to that. SmartScan is useless -it keeps picking frequencies that are already stations.

I was also unimpressed that every time I plugged in my iPhone, a message popped up informing me that an app was "required" to use the accessory. I finally downloaded the silly thing -which does nothing you can't do with the RoadTrip's buttons -just so it'd stop nagging me about it. Haven't used the app since.

Maybe if you live in rural country with broad swaths of clear spectrum, the HandsFree would work for you. For my part, I'll be sending it back and looking into other brands instead.

I bought this as a mount, an FM transmitter, AND a handfree calling device.

Unlike others, I had no problem with the gooseneck not supporting my phone. The phone (even within a big case) fits on this device just fine. It's easy to put on; easy to take off. The FM transmitter works ... okay. My local reception is a problem, but that's not the fault of the device. It worked great to enable me to hear my Mapquest app's turn-by-turn directions.

My complaint about this device is the "handsfree" capability. It didn't always auto-pair to my phone (sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't) -but the real problem is that no one could understand me when I spoke into this thing, on a call. My car's cigarette lighter sits down low -so the microphone on the phone (that's the only microphone, for the unit) is far away from my mouth. It just couldn't be used as a handsfree device. Griffin was contacted, and had absolutely no suggestions.

I'm giving 2 stars because the handsfree part is the primary reason I bought this. If you're looking for a mount/FM transmitter, your rating might be higher.
