Wagan EL2003-5 400 Watt Continuous Power Inverter with 5V 2.1 Amp USB Charging Ports

Wagan EL2003-5 400 Watt Continuous Power Inverter with 5V 2.1 Amp USB Charging PortsI got this inverter to replace one we had -a 175 watt one -that wasn't powerful enough for my wife's new laptop. This one has plenty of umph to do the job, it's just a bit on the loud side. While it's on, the fan is too, and when on the floor of the passenger seat, it was about 60 dB -about the volume of a normal conversation. You can definitely hear it over the road noise. There is a handy switch on the unit so you can leave it plugged in all the time and turn it off when not in use.

It comes with a cigarette lighter plug, as well as battery clamps. I believe you'll only be able to get the full 400 watts if you connect directly to the car battery, but we only need about 250 watts so the cigarette lighter plug works fine.

The USB ports have enough power to charge an iPad. My iPad showed "Charging" when plugged into the USB ports rather than the usual "Not Charging" when plugged into my old inverter that had USB ports

I'd recommend this but I'd want people to know that it's not whisper quiet like my old one.

First the quirks: The unit will shut off automatically if you are either not using any power or are using really low power. I purchased it to use in the car for various things but when using it to charge AA or my DSLR batteries it will only do so for a short period of time before turning itself off and requiring me to flip the switch. Highly annoying and I will be replacing it for this reason (or selling/trading to someone).

Things I like: The size and design are appealing and its mostly metal so shouldn't heat up as much as some others. Like a few people have said it isn't as loud as some people think, more than tolerable.

I will be contacting the manufacturer to find out if the low or no power use is a design feature or a flaw with my unit. Will update this with a comment with what I find out.

We travel a lot by car over very far distances so a power inverter is a must have for watching dvd's and charging phones etc. Our older inverter same wattage finally died on us and after research I was nervous about the reviews I read on that brands newer models so this one seemed like a good bet and I was right. I have to disagree with the other reviewers about the noise, compared to my old one (which was only 4 years old)this is whisper quiet, it does make noise but as I've said compared to the whistler that I had it is significantly quieter. I'm sure the USB's will come in handy as the old one did not have them and the on/off button does not stick up really high so it wont get switched off accidently by the plug which was a big problem with our other one. Also, it does include the car charger and the battery clamps unlike the majority of other ones I saw, most only had the battery clamps which is fine if you are camping but what about while you are driving to the campground? Great buy for the price!

I read some other reviews on here where people complained that it wasn't powerful enough for their application when plugged into the cigarette lighter, and I just had to shake my head. Most cigarette lighter covers have a nice sticker on the inside that clearly states 120W max draw. Use the included battery clamps if you want to run something that draws more power, a 400W inverter can only work with what it's being supplied, so don't blame the product for not delivering 400W when you plug it into a 120W outlet.

Hooked directly to a battery, this little thing fired up my blender, which has an initial draw of almost 800W on startup, and did fine running it under load (ice and margaritas!). Like others have stated, the fan stays on and it's a little loud, but anything you're going to be running off of this is likely to make as much noise, except for a phone charger. All in all, it's great so far, and so much smaller than I expected.

I purchased this power inverter a few weeks ago to power a deskjet printer in my vehicle. I read the previous reviews about the fan being loud, but it is not bad. The fan runs continously but is not loud at all. This products works great for what I needed it for and it has two plug outlets and two USB outlets as well. The price was right too!

HD 1080p Car Dashboard Camera Car Accident DVR with LCD and 140 degree wide angle lense IR NIght Vi

HD 1080p Car Dashboard Camera Car Accident DVR with LCD and 140 degree wide angle lense IR NIght Vision HD WITH FREE Smartphone Air Vent MountConstantly emits white noise when on. While charging it becomes a loud squealing. No response from the manufacture about it. Seemed like it had all the features I wanted but in its current state it's not something I want to listen to in the car. So that kinda defeats the point.

Update: While tempted to just return it curiosity got the best of me. Opened it up, turns out the speaker is glued directly to the battery. No surprise it makes all sorts of unwanted noise. I clipped the negative wire to the speaker itself after that it was a whole new ball game. No audio playback from the device itself is a fair exchange for peace and quiet. Be warned parts will go everywhere nothing aside from the board is really secured in all that well.

Buyer beware: You do not get all that is advertised. Also, the instructions are limited. You cannot get a response from an e-mail that is even comprehensive. Their answer was as if they responded to someone else's inquiry. My complaint was I did not receive the advertised free air vent mount for a smartphone. They told me to use one from the smart mobile-phone. I asked for direction that was not in the instructions. I wanted to know if the camcorder would record continuously (going over the previous recordings on my memory card). The response I received was, a memory card is not included with the camcorder. Therefore, I do hope whoever reads this review heeds my warning. Buyer beware. This is sold by an independent seller and not handled by amazon. I guess I am up a creek without a paddle.

Really disappointed in this little unit. I ,mean REALLY DISAPPOINTED. Battery won't hold a charge, will not record while plugged into car 12vdc power point. Nice looking and all that, but generally not anything that was advertised.

I'm very disappointed in Amazon letting people use their Good Name!!!! and sell junk. I would advise anyone who is thinking about getting one of these, DON'T! Your throwing your money away

NO STARS.

The quality on these cameras seems to be hit or miss. I have three that all function well, but, all three are not the same model with the same features. One is apparently an older model that records in segments of 1/2/3 minutes, although the box say 5/10/15 minutes. As others have said, the instructions are terrible, but if you play around with the controls, you'll find a number of features not listed, such as pushing and holding the arrow buttons to zoom in and out. The video quality on all of mine is very good. I've also had no problem with the sound functions. Hopefully, they have run out of the older models and are shipping only the newer ones that actually have the functions listed on the box. A dash cam is definitely a good bit of extra insurance. The day we installed ours, we filmed a car coming on to the interstate nearly hit us, and then cross two lanes and hit a poor guy in a new F-150. The police department was very appreciative of the video.

Cons

What I got was a camera that wont anchor properly on the suction holder.. that has to have been a manufacturing defect.. The power chord was so long, it turned my car into an entangled mess..

Pros

The picture quality looks decent. definitely not HD, but for what you want it for, it can pass.

Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter

Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car JumpstarterThe product description above is very misleading, because it suggests that this product can replace a jump-start. My battery went dead today, and I used this to charge it for many hours. All it managed to do was light up my dashboard clock.

Description doesn't provide this device's capacity.

Just says 5Amps. I found that this battery has 1.5Ah (Amp*hour)

Compare with your car battery 75Ah capacity and top current of

150Amp and you'd see that only by miracle it can recharge your

car's battery or help you jump-start.

Buy Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter Now

Wish I had found these reviews before purchasing this product. This will NOT jump start a dead car battery.

Is there product that does what this promises i.e., jump start a dead car battery without 1)another car and 2)going under the hood?

Please let me know as I've wasted too much time, money and safety on products that don't work (including this one).

Read Best Reviews of Wagan EA2045 SelfCharge Auto Jumper In-Car Jumpstarter Here

To start a car, you need high current that a car battery provides, either from your own or a donor car's.

This device can't provide enough current to start your car. What it can do is to slowly charge your car battery and let it store enough power to give high current for a second.

Apparently, if your car battery can't hold the charge, it wouldn't work; if it's very weak, it takes longer to charge. And if you try to turn on the engine before the car battery is ready, you've just wasted all the juice from the jumper to the car battery, and may well blow any chance for this thing to work.

There's nothing on the market that you can plug into the cigarette light socket and start the car instantly. Even if the jumper has another car battery in it, the socket can NOT carry that much current.

For the convenience, size and independence of a good Samaritan, this is as good as it can get.

Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker for 2002 Honda Accord With Do-It-Yourself Programming

Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker for 2002 Honda Accord With Do-It-Yourself ProgrammingI am going to send this back. I bought the car used and it did not come with remote entry. I don't know if it originally did but I thought it was worth a try. They should probably explain on the site that there are other items you need to make this work if not. I just assumed like with many cars they come with them and if you don't order it when you buy the car new it is still there but you don't get the fob. I could have done my research better but I assumed too much I suppose if that is what you need and all you need there is no issue with it.

Thank you Discount KeyLess for your great service! I bought this and it arrived earlier that I expected! When I was following the easy instructions for some reason my car was not responding to the remote! So with some online search and speaking to my dad the keyless entry for the Accord LX was optional and my car doesn't have it. So with the great customer service Discount keyless has to offer they allowed me to return the fob for a full refund! I'm thankful that they are not like other company's that will not give you a refund! But if you are planing on buying such items you picked the right guys because the quaility of the product is above expectation, fast delivery, and GREAT SERVICE! Keep it up guys!

I bought a used car and it didn't come with the entry fob. Ordered this and very happy. There were some scratches on it from being used significantly before, but it worked perfectly after programming. It's been over a year, and it's still working fine! I knew I would mark it up anyways, so didn't bother me too much that it wasn't perfect. Great item, I would buy again from dealer!

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth
  • AM/FM radio, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/WMA/WAV/AAC receiver with GPS navigation
  • 4 x 50 Watts maximum power with front/rear and two sets of preamp outputs
  • 4.3-inch widescreen TFT LCD touchscreen with 480 x 272 resolution
  • Includes auxiliary input, USB port, SD card slot, iPod direct control; add optional tuners for SAT/HD radio
  • On-board Bluetooth for hands-free calls, on-screen dialing and more

The boss (Wife) had the stock 6 CD changer in her 2006 Explorer XLT. She wanted a new radio that would allow her to listen to her iPod and have Bluetooth for her phone. I also wanted to add GPS, since if I was going to replace the darn thing, I may as well give her all the functions she might need for the future.

I looked online for a new head unit but it seemed that all the units were in the above $500 range. I saw that Amazon had the Pioneer AVIC-U310BT on sale for $259.00. I did some research and found a mixed bag of reviews, for every good review, there was a not so good one. After a bit of thinking, I decided to bite. I'm glad I did.

I bought the head unit along with the PAC Can Bus module05-08 FORD RADIO CAN BUS MODULE INTERFACEand the Scosche Scosche FD1426B Double ISO DIN Kit for 2004-Up Fordmounting kit. The harness was about $80 and the mounting kit another $15. If you look at a lot of the head units out there, they offer Bluetooth as an option, not include it with as with this radio. That would have added another $100 to many of the competitors out there.

I opened up all the parts I bought and read all the documentation on all the items BEFORE I went outside. I prewired the Pac module, connecting all the wires to the wiring harness from the radio. This made it easy when I went out to the truck. Plug and play, the only wiring I need to do was routing all the wires for the microphone, GPS antenna and the Aux output wire for her Sirius radio.

About that Sirius, Pioneer offers the built in module for Sirius or XM. Both cost $100 and you have to find a place for the big Sirius modules under the dash. They don't offer some of the features the little Plug and Play units Sirius offers; pause, FF, and favorite song or artist reminders. We decided to keep her existing Sportster 5 and plug it into the Aux port.

I got it all installed in about 90 minutes. I placed the GPS antenna under the top tray on the dashboard. The antenna sees right through the plastic tray, and stays hidden. The iPod cable is simply the USB cable that came with the iPod. You can buy the cable from Pioneer for about $40. I don't see the need, as it works fine with the Apple cable. I put the iPod in the glove box, as you don't need to access it, all the controls can be reached from the head unit.

The sound from the radio is great. The GPS navigation seems to be good, but I can tell you more as we use it in real world driving. Some people have said that they had issues with Bluetooth not connecting consistently. I started and turned off the truck about 20 times so far, and each time it finds and connects to my iPhone....no issues at all. The sound quality of the included microphone seems good, so far. Again, we will see how it goes in real world driving conditions.

Overall, it isn't as neat as the $500-$1000 dollar head units out there, the screen is not as big, and it may not have all the features of its higher priced cousins. But to have GPS, CD, iPod and Bluetooth for about $350 total, it cannot be beat.

Edit 4/27/10 After a week of use:

Wanted to add a few items on the use of this system. First, some have complained about the quality of the microphone that is supplied with the unit. For us, it works well. I have been involved in both ends of phone conversations as both the sender from the truck, or as a reciever of a call from the truck. Both come in loud and clear. Perhaps other people had issue with the location of the microphone? We clipped it directly to the driver's visor.

Sound quality is fantastic. This head unit really takes advantage of the factory sub woofer in the Explorer. We never heard such powerful bass from the stock unit.

The iPod control takes a little getting used to, but once you figure it out, it works well. My wife has simply put the iPod on random from the head unit controls. It is like a juke box with thousands of songs.....it is playing songs we long ago forgotten that were on the iPod.

GPS navigation has been fine. Sure, not a lot of POI's, but we simply enter in addresses. For my wife, it is no big deal.

Using the PAC Sys can bus module made the wiring easy. The system knows when the truck is moving, it knows to dim the display when the headlights go on, etc. It is just like a factory installation.

Overall, we are still happy with the purchase.

Buy Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth Now

Sorry for the long winded review, but I want to provide as many details as possible for people to understand the unit better.

I bought this unit after seeing some so called professional reviews online. I did see their notes about very limited POIs or lack there off, no video etc. But I was not looking for Video or not even lot of POIs.

I liked this unit for the fact it is always in standby state and will come on instantly. For Pioneer F series that has a major complaint about start up time. I installed this unit a week ago and did lot of experimentation so far and here are my thoughts.

Looks and installation:

I liked looks of the unit for it simplicity, not too many buttons, and able to control Major audio functions without using Touchscreen etc. Installation went very well with excellent documentation provided(courtesy Crutchfield).

Phone, Bluetooth Module:

After everything is installed, synchronized my iPhone with bluetooth module and tried to make some calls. I can hear other side verywell, no issues here. But other party can hardly hears my voice. If I hold Microphone within few inches from my mouth it was acceptable, but if that is the case I would very well hold my phone instead of Mic. Tried lot of positions, and nothing helped. So, I looked around avic411 forums and saw quite few people having problems with supplied Microphone and used either Parrot Mic or Garmin Mic. So, I went ahead bought the Garmin Mic from local Frys electronics and installed it( Garmin Mic wire length is shorter, only 10 feet). Now the quality improved substantially and usable. But it still had problem with boomy echo(even with echo cancellation), but that was partially because of location. Moving the Mic close to head liner( above rear view mirror) somewhat reduced it, and now I thought this is usable. I was able to transfer the phone book quite easily from iPhone 2G(My other car Toyota Prius built-in system has problems with iPhone 2G for Phone book).

In total I drove the car 4 days, and out of 4 days, Bluetooth system hung 3 times. The symptoms are, bluetooth does not connect. But when to click on Phone button in Menu, it goes to phone screen and shows Bluetooth off and connections button disabled. When I click on Bluetooth to turn it on, it keep circling and nothing happens.

Trying to do a F. Reset does not do any good. Only way to get it working again is doing Hard reset by pressing the small reset switch on LCD frame. This does fix problem, but also resets everything else. Phone Book is completely gone, all Illumination color, Radio presets, Song details Display preferences, Eq settings, and Navigation preferences(ATT, Mute etc) are gone. We have to do set everything again back from scratch.

RESET OBSERVATION NOTE : We can reset the unit after taking out of docking position. This way unit does not reset AUDIO/NAV settings.(Contacts/Phone Book and Some Nav settings seems to be lost).

Also, the volume adjustment is independent from main audio system, so if you raise the volume to hear over road noise during a highway drive it would not reflect in bluetooth volume.

Another bummer is, you can not access the numeric pad after call is connected(it is disabled). That means, you can not select IVR systems voice menu option which is quite common if you call any customer service, and even more annoying, there is NO MUTE . But atleast you can do it from actual phone.

Navigation:

Size of the screen is small, but I think it is okay size as long as it is not too far away from driver. Menu structure, selecting options, settings etc are fine.

Just to clarify, DETACHABLE SCREEN DOES NOT WORK AS PORTABLE NAVIGATION. It does not have any built in GPS antenna/GPS processor. You can browse maps like paper maps, or create route etc.

This system uses Tele Atlas database(instead of NavTeQ) for Navigation which does not have good reviews. Despite being the latest database it does not have main roads( Bus route) which are 4-5 years old. Even for old neighborhood like 30 years old does not have correct road information.

Now the routing, I got to tell you this got to be worst navigation I ever used(Garmin, TomTom, Omnitech, Toyota in built). It lags much behind the actual vehicle position(not a signal problem), sometime a street or more behind actual location. I think unit is taking too much time reading the data, calculating position and representing on the actual map. It may not be a problem for most highway driving or sub-urban driving, but for downtown it is pretty close to useless.

For some reason it does not show the all the road names. It's 3D mapview is not good, 2D is ok. It does not know the difference between a walking trail vs roads, it will insist on driving on trails!

Text To Speech is pretty bad too, it says take a slight turn when infact it is very sharp turn. Sometime it lags, and sometime it all together forgets to tell you that you need to turn. Sometimes, it does not even show you on screen whether to turn or not(you come to a T-junction, but it does not tell you which direction to take.

I tried to compare same route with portable Omnitech Navigation unit(Destinator software). That is 100 times better in routing, shows better details on screen and providing direction properly.

And now the POIs, it is not the problem because of just 500k POIs. It is the categories they intentionally removed. The most commonly used categories, restaurants and Gas stations are missing, and do you believe they have Cemetery there? There is an option to feed the locations using AVIC feeds, but that does not come as POIs or category or even based on location unfortunately.

BTW for Navigation there is option to set voice, either to mute music, ATT music or simply say directions while music play at full volume(default, which does not make any sense).

Audio:

Audio portion I liked it. It is able to play music from recent thumb drive( 4 years small thumb drive did not work), and works wonderful with iPhone. Sound quality is pretty good, Radio reception is ok. Joystick navigation is ok, menus are easy to understand once you read the manual.

It seems many retailers listed saying this unit can music from SD card, but that is not true. YOU CAN NOT PLAY MUSIC FROM SD CARD. It can only be used to upload AVIC feeds(color, Locations, trip data etc). Pioneer confirmed it also See notes from Crutchfield editor to one of the reviews.

The illumination color can be selected or can be fed with custom color using AVIC feeds software. The LCD never turns off even when you turn off the unit. It only turns off when car keys are taken out(out of acc position). There is a button to turn off screen, but this is to turn off while system is on. Good thing about it is, you can turn off screen entirely when driving long distance during night. It comes back right away if you touch the screen.

Note: As of now there are no firmware updates available to fix any above issues I described, and quite few people have problems with Navigation Freezing. I think overall hardware is good, but it is the software/firmware that is problem.

12/04/2009: Another update. I can confirm after the Europe Firmware update, I did not get any bluetooth hangs anymore(4+ weeks). It also seems routing is little better(TTS voice is still bad). But I am having problems now-and-then with USB drive. During the playback it suddenly has problems with reading the USB, and I also saw the same issue with iPhone playback. Unplugging and plugging in back fix the problem temporarily. I checked the routed cable in my console and it seems fine, but I have not check behind radio to see if it moved(Highly unlikely as I anchored all cables with zip ties). I will update once I check it out.

11/03/2009: I did a partial upgrade using Europe firmware as Pioneer did not provide any updates to this unit in US. This seems only upgraded the Bluetooth module. But this change/improvement seems to be significant enough to report. First I no longer see the "Cell Phone disconnected" message after I turn on my car as Bluetooth module was not aware that I shutdown the car before and just started again(Just embarrassing if someone in the car). Now the change is that, when I shutdown the car(out off ACC postion to off/lock), the Screen does not shut-off immediately, but waits for about 5 seconds, identifies that Bluetooth module is disconnect, then shutdowns(It may look weird as you took your keys from car, closed the door behind, but this thing screen us on). The good thing is because of this change Blue-tooth connect quickly next time when you start(approx 18 secs vs 34 seconds without any other app running/audio/nav etc). This also reduced Bluetooth freezing episodes(not completely gone, but ran more than week or two with out freezing). Bluetooth freezing happens more frequently if Contacts are synced.

But Nav issues are still there, it thinks I am driving somewhere without roads, that is with fulll GPS signal( not just my unit, other too), Only way to correct is undock and dock it again( restart does not work).

And AVIC feeds, which I was excited about as I can create my own POIs is really restricted to the point that is not useful. Like example if you want to add all SHELL GAS stations(5000+), it only takes first 100. Ofcourse you can add 100 of each gas stations or restaurant. And you can not search these POIs like inbuilt POIs.

And AVIC Feeds for iPhone, it is joke for this unit( again highend units are ok). If you add a POI, it adds like a contact in your phone(like you will have McDonald as your contact) and you need to sync complete phonebook again from scratch to get single POIs from iPhone to AVIC-U310BT. But on the higher-end unit you can simply transfer that one contact.

09/16/2009: Now, even Navigation unit is hung. I tried normal reset, but that did fix problem. I had to hard reset keeping unit in head. All settings are lost as expected, but atleast navigation and bluetooth are working again.

Pros:

Instant On!

AM/FM/Single Disk CD Player with 18 FM presets; 6 AM presets

Total iPod control thru unit

Basic GPS with text to speech

Hands Free Bluetooth (when it works)

Detachable faceplate

Cons:

There's a software glitch in the bluetooth software that requires re-pairing your phone with the base regularly. Menus might seem initially confusing.

Summary:

I installed the AVIC U310BTs in my 2009 smart car after reading that this unit would be offered as the "official" GPS upgrade on the 2010 model smarts. I picked up a unit on eBay for $370. Another $30 for the iPod cable plus $50 for the double din face plate and wiring harness and another 50 bucks for new speakers and for $500 I had an upgrade that the dealer will offer for $1300.

The GPS is basic but adequate. The lady in the box giving directions has a very slight flutter to her voice but she gets me there just fine.

The radio/CD player work great and the units puts out a lot of sound. Paired with decent speakers, you will not be disappointed.

With a 120 Gig iPod, my Holy Grail has been a way to navigate through the hundreds of artists and thousands of CDs to play the tune I wanted without killing myself while driving. I've found that the AVIC U310BT succeeds in allowing me to search with a minimum of clicks and twists to the exact song I wanted-while driving! However, here's where the confusing menus might make you want to read the manual. Once you "get" the menu flow, it all makes sense in some weird way.

My biggest disappointment with the unit is the software glitch with the bluetooth. About every 4 starts of the car the bluetooth hangs and will not work with my phone. It requires a faceplate reset which takes about 30 seconds then you must re-pair your phone which takes another couple of minutes. This is really the only thing that I do not like about the unit. I take a star away for the bluetooth hassle.

Pioneer AVIC units in the past have been criticized for slow boot times. On the 310BT however, the unit comes on instantly because the battery in the removable faceplate keeps it in standby when the car is off. The instant on function seems to be the culprit that somehow causes the bluetooth to hang upon occasion.

The U310BT has only been on sale since June so I expect that as more owners report this bluetooth problem there will be a firmware update to correct, but until then I'm not as happy as I could be.

Update: I've found a workaround to the bluetooth problem and my phone-once I paired my wife's phone to the unit, it began working flawlessly! Dropping and re-connecting my phone from the unit now seems to fix the lockup. On reconsideration, I give this 4 stars!

Want Pioneer AVIC-U310BT 4.3-Inch In-Dash Navigation Receiver with CD Player and Bluetooth Discount?

I was shocked to find out this unit has no POIs to speak of. Pioneer has a hundred dollar solution, buy their SD card with updates. I would not purchase this had I found out before it was installed in my dash. Audio features are fine and bluetooth is OK, albeit a little confusing. Had to reset after removing the SD card for some reason. Who wants a GPS that can't locate a gas station?

This is a pretty solid HU when you update the firmware, and installation took a few hours (primarily to route wires and get steering wheel interface working). Ipod controls are pretty good, if a little slow. The AVIC Feeds software is useless, so don't waste too much time on that, and as others have noted the POI database included with the navigation system is laughable. If you like to search your nav for gas stations, restaurants, hotels, ... they are not in there. You'll need to buy the POI supplement from Pioneer, which runs around $85 $99 and does include all of those things. All-in-all, for the money, this is a pretty nice and very capable unit.

My big complaint is with Amazon nowhere do they disclose that they are not an authorized reseller for Pioneer car audio. When I had a problem with the Bluetooth microphone, I was told by Pioneer that the unit is NOT waranteed. So in essence, you have your normal 30 day window to return purchases to Amazon; after that, you have NO PROTECTION. If the unit dies on day 31, you are out of luck. This is borderline deceptive if I knew that I was not getting a warranty, I would not have purchased from Amazon. By the time I learned, I had already invested lots of time and energy installing the unit in my car if I decide to return I would have to reverse the process, then spend even more time installing something else. This will be the last electronics purchase I make from Amazon.

Kinetik KHC1400 1400-Watt 12-Vault Power Cell
  • AGM Technology
  • Sealed Non-Spillable Design
  • Mount In Any Position
  • Ultra Low ESR
  • Superior Heat & Vibration Resistance

I'm not sure what happened with the previous review there, but I have had mine working as an aux battery with a 4000 watt system for over a year now without any problems. It runs ALL of my accessories and I have an isolator between it and my stock battery so even when I run my accessories at a car show for too long and kill the Kinetik my main battery will still start the car. I have run this Kinetik down so many times I can't count but she's still running strong. I even have been able to "jump" myself when my stock battery finally took a dump last week. So, I am about to purchase a 2000 watt Kinetik to run my system and accessories and replace my stock battery with this one. Great battery!

A few people told me to get this to help with the dimming of my headlights. They said it would work great so I looked up reviews on it, they were all good almost to good to be true so I bought it. When I got it I tested it and it was charged enough to use, so I wired it up exactly like the booklet said and it was fine. It has worked great for a month untill today driving home from work the battery terminal melted right out of the battery. I couldn't believe it 200 bucks gone. I stayed within the wattage that kinetik suggests and I also hooked it up the way they suggest so the only conclusion I can come to is this thing is crap save your money.

ScanGauge II Ultra Compact 3-in-1 Automotive Computer with Customizable Real-Time Fuel Economy Digi

ScanGauge II Ultra Compact 3-in-1 Automotive Computer with Customizable Real-Time Fuel Economy Digital GaugesI have had the Scan Gauge II in my Toyota Yaris for about 3 months now, and have tested it's functionality in a wide range of city and freeway driving. Since the car is only a year old, I haven't needed to scan any trouble codes yet, so I am using the SGII primarily as a fuel economy computer.

SGII connects directly to the OBD-2 diagnostic port that is present on most vehicles sold in the US since 1996. The manufacturer, Linear Logic, publishs a list on the company website showing specifically which makes and models of cars and light trucks that the unit will and will not work in.

Features: The SGII reads the data stream from the car's engine control computer, and uses this data to calculate and display, in real time, the engine's fuel consumption, RPM, coolant temperature, throttle loading, and Trip/Tank statistics like how many miles you can go on remaining fuel, and how much $$$ worth of gas has been burned on the current trip. The unit offers something like 40 different functions and guage displays go to the company website for a complete list.

What I like about the product: Adds fuel economy displays, plus some other guages like Water Temp and RPM, that weren't available even as options on my Toyota Yaris. The fuel economy computer feature is something that you usually see only on up-scale cars costing over $30,000 ScanGuage II adds this functionality to almost any OBD-II complient car for only $159. The Yaris fuel guage isn't very accurate, whereas the SG-II tells me to 1/10 of a gallon how much gas I have left. At each fill-up, you can re-calibrate the SGII with the exact amount of gas pumped. This is nice because fuel density changes with the seasons as average daily temperature rise and falls, which results in changes of up to 10% in how many gallons it takes to effect a fill-up.

The SGII is pretty compact, so most owners will be able to find some place on or under the dash to mount it. At night, the display screen is backlit well enough. At night, with the backlight on, the contrast between the display background and the numbers isn't as great as I'd like, but the screen is readable enough. The backlighting is provided by a multi-color LED, and the user can select between about 16 different colors.

The display update/refresh rate is once per second (fast mode), or once per two seconds (regular mode), so the unit's RPM display may not update quickly enough for use as a real-time tachometer in a manual transmission car. However, you could certainly use it to calibrate an analog tach

Ease of use: The SGII is self-powered from the OBD-II connector, and needs no batteries. It only uses a single ethernet-type cable to connect it to the OBD-II port. One 6' cable comes with the unit, and additional cables can be purchased for $20 if you want to use your SGII in more than one car.

The SGII can be used in multiple cars, but moving the unit to a different car probably erases the "current" and "prior day" trip data.

Usefulness: This gadget is really helpful on long trips to let you know when you need to make a gas stop. In mountainous terrain, most cars use a lot more gas than when cruising on the "flats", and SGII immediately updates the tank-remaining-mileage if terrain or driving conditions change substantially. The device is sensitive enough to show even small differences in fuel economy like the difference between air conditioning on or off, headlights on or off, and tailgate up/down. The most obvious difference in fuel economy comes with changes in speed, and SGII shows in hard numbers that 75mph cruising will hurt fuel economy as much as 30% compared to keeping it under 60.

The other primary use for SGII is to scan your car's OBD-II engine control computer and display the actual trouble code when your "check engine" warning light comes on. Assuming you have a listing of the trouble codes for your car, this feature could tell you the difference between minor glitches for which repair can be delayed a few days, and major failures that need to be fixed right away. Once a fault has been repaired, SGII can be used to tell the car's OBD-II computer to reset the trouble code. I haven't used this feature myself yet, but the owner's manual describes the function well enough.

Conclusion: For $159, this is a pretty cool gadget to have in your car, especially as the price or gas is now well above $3.00 (diesel approaching $4.00/gallon in some parts of the US!). And yes, SGII works in most Diesel vehicles made after 1996 (see the list on Linear Logic's website). Highly recommended as a really useful automobile accessory that offers a LOT of "bang-for-the-buck".

UPDATE: September 2010. Have used this gadget for almost three years in my Yaris and in my Dodge diesel truck, and still functioning perfectly, despite being cooked in the hot summer sun on the dashboard several times.

One issue I have noticed when using it in the Dodge: If I run through a tank of fuel while towing a heavy trailer, then another tank of fuel while the truck is unloaded (not towing or hauling anything), the calibration changes substantially. I usually use something like "45%" for unloaded, and "25%" when towing. However, even these numbers are only rough starting points. In general, over level ground at 55mph, I expect to get 20mpg unloaded, and 14mpg towing a 7800# RV trailer. But the Scan Guage is rarely consistant, even when I am careful to set the calibration to the same numbers I calculated the last time I towed the trailer. I guess other factors like average grade, temperature, and elevation must be affecting the fuel consumption/tank return ratio of the truck's fuel injection system, and this is resulting in inconsistent reporting of fuel economy from the ScanGuage. A typical inconsistency: I drove 300 miles at 45 mph, unloaded, and the scan guage reported 35 mpg (completely unrealistic for a 3/4 ton truck, of course). Actual fuel economy was 24. So I re-calibrated, and on the next tank of fuel, the ScanGuage reported only 10 mpg when I was really getting 16 (I was towing the trailer again on this tank). This is ONLY an issue with my diesel truck, when I install the gadget in my gasoline car, it is very consistant from one tank of fuel to another, and I rarely have to change the calibration after the two fill-ups. I still like the ScanGuage and recommend it, just be aware that apparently the way it interprets fuel consumption data from the ECM in a diesel engine vehicle isn't as stable or consistant as you would get in a gasoline vehicle.

This little box is very useful. In my case it already paid for itself. I was able to clear some service codes (misfire of a cylinder). In the past I paid $69 for the mechanic to just look up and clear the code.

I really like the fact that ScanGauge displays all kinds of engine data in real time. Other devices such as the CarChip save it and then need to be connected to a computer in order to access the data.

In my opinion, the ScanGauge is worth every cent.

Buy ScanGauge II Ultra Compact 3-in-1 Automotive Computer with Customizable Real-Time Fuel Economy Digi Now

Being a geek, I bought the ScanGauge II so that I could see more information in real time about my car. The ScanGauge should appeal to anyone who watched Night Rider and was envious of all the cool displays inside Kit. The good news is that this little device does give you so much more cool information about your car as you drive. Rather than guess why your car had bad mileage, you can tell immediately it was because you had the throttle down too much or your average speed was 85 mph. The real value of this gadget is that it gives you hard data to point to when your car acts a little funny.

The first thing you'll have to figure out is where to mount it. I drive a RAV4, and I've found the best place is under the center console. It stays out of the way and gives your passengers something cool to look at while you're driving. I would not recommend putting it in your line of site, like a HUD in an F-16. The numbers will distract you and then you'll have bigger problems than bad gas mileage. Finding a good place to mount is critical. That leads me to my first complaint: the ScanGauge is just heavy enough that Velcro won't hold it for long periods of time. After my car has been in the hot sun, the ScanGauge simply falls. It is a habit now for me to stick the ScanGauge back up every time I get in the car. I've contemplated using superglue to make sure it stays, but I don't want to damage the interior.

The realtime data is very handy, but I wish the screen updated a little faster. There are multiple settings (slow, normal, and fast), but fast isn't quite fast enough. The numbers always lag behind about half a second, making it impossible to drive your car to the data. The trip data is much more interesting and useful. Once I calibrated my speed and fuel mileage, I was surprised to see how accurate it was. Every time I fill up gas, I know how much I have to put in. It is usually accurate within a half gallon. Knowing my fuel mileage has been great for my lead foot too. When I see my mileage lower than normal, I know I have to start taking it easy. There are four trips computed by the ScanGauge: Current, Tank, Today, and Yesterday. These are hardcoded, and you can't change them, so if you go on a long trip, you can't keep one average for the whole thing.

Overall, I would recommend the ScanGauge to any geek who wants to know everything about the car.

The installation of the SG2 is simple: attach the OBD2 connector to the DLC port and attach the RJ-45 jack to the SG2 unit. Routing the cable is really up to the operator. I chose to do it in a crude manner because I don't plan to make it a permanent addition to the car. I zip tied the cable to my HVAC vents and anchored it to the empty traction control hole behind the glove box.

I used 1 of the provided velcro kits to affix the SG2 to the top of my steering column so that it is right below the instrument panel. It actually blocks my view of the shift indicator array, although I can still see it clearly if I lean forward.

The update rate set at FAST is still rather slow and that is to be expected with the outdated OBD-II network. The "fastest" aftermarket scan tool that I have seen is SCT's Live Link for Ford / GM / Chryslers. If you want anything faster, you are going to have to borrow an OEM's scan tool system.

The X-Gauge interface is a bit cumbersome since you are restricted to using 2 buttons to enter alphanumeric characters while if you pause for anything more than 10-15 seconds, the SG2 shuts down. According to Linear Logic, they are working on an updated SG2 with datalogging features so hopefully they incorporate a PC interface to speed up programming and setup times.

I have it set to monitor instantaneous MPG, RPM, Vehicle Speed, and a gauge that I frequently switch depending on my mood. I am monitoring the torque converter slip ratio. Whenever it reads below 1.00, it means the torque converter is "slipping". Above 1.00 means the output side of the converter is spinning faster than the input side and theoretically it could just mean engine braking with some torque converter slip. You can program custom X-Gauges to monitor gross engine horsepower or torque input at the transmission.

I had previously used a Garmin Forerunner 101 to check my GPS vehicle speed and compared it to my speedometer readout (2000 Ford Crown Vic with mechanical speedometer). It revealed that my GPS speed was about 2-3 mph slower than the speedometer indicated speed. The SG2's vehicle speed readout (from the Vehicle Speed Sensor PID in the OBD-2 system) is approximately 2-3 mph slower than the speedometer reading and I am assuming this is the same readout as my GPS (I didn't get a chance to verify this yet).

Some of the gauges I like to monitor are Coolant Temperature, Intake Air Temperature, Transmission Fluid Temperature (XGauge), Torque Converter Slip Ratio (XGauge), Gross Horsepower (XGauge), RPM, Vehicle Speed, and MPG.

I still haven't been able to figure out how to work the trip computer properly to display averaged fuel economy. The instantaneous MPG is more important to me because I want to see if anything is not working right on long cruises. I have often wondered if the torque converter was locking properly when I use cruise control or when cruising on the highway.

The data collection stability is impressive. I never ran into many problems with Car Code or SCT's Live Link, but SG2 is just more convenient and compact. The backlight colors are interesting as they allow you to choose 4 different values of each RGB component (or 64 possible combinations). I have it set to R=3, B=0, G=0 so that it resembles Pontiac's interior lighting (I drive a Ford).

My only real complaint is that there's not a better way of attaching the SG2 to the car. A suction cup mount for the windshield would come in handy since I could mount it near my line of sight without relying on adhesive-backed velcro. The interface is quite intuitive but I would have liked a way to program the X-gauge more easily, like via a PC interface.

Bottom line: The SG2 is a great deal if you are interested in data readouts for your car. There are cheaper ways of pulling DTC codes, so the only real usefulness of SG2 is the "realtime" PID monitoring and the trip computer for cars that do not have such devices. If you know someone who is a bona fide gearhead and drives a car made in 1996 or newer, they may appreciate the SG2 as a gift.

UPDATE:

While the ScanGauge II provided a useful feature for cars without trip computers or onboard monitoring for various PIDs, I have noticed that it began to malfunction more frequently. The gauge readouts began to "flicker" between PIDs. For example, monitoring IGNition, the IGN began to switch rapidly between HPR. Just recently, the entire ScanGauge II shutdown while I was driving. It would refuse to reconnect with the OBD2 network. When it did find a connection, a lot of the text was garbled and it lost all of my trip data except for the total mileage. My car normally maxes out on 300 miles per tank of gasoline, so I was bewildered when the SG2 said I drove over 4000 miles. Other SG2 readers have reported similar quirks, albeit not as serious as the self shutdown and data corruption that I experienced.

Many newer cars already have features built-into the car. The Pontiac G8, and Nissan GT-R are two examples of cars that have very developed "trip computers" while many other modern vehicles like the Pontiac G6, have trip computers that can monitor most of the fuel-related data.

Want ScanGauge II Ultra Compact 3-in-1 Automotive Computer with Customizable Real-Time Fuel Economy Digi Discount?

I've had the scanGuage II for about 3 weeks at the time of this review. I had bought the unit because I was interested in finding out about how my car, a 2002 Toyota Solara was holding up and what the car computer might tell me.

First the cons:

1. The cord is too long. The total run from the ODB II port to where the unit is

mounted is about a 15 inches, top. It would have been nice to have sockets

on both the plug and the SG II. Include a long and short cord, or just have it

so that cat5e network cable could be used.

Why? Because storing the excess cable somewhere is a problem, I ended up

storing in inside the panel protecting the steering column, and may have

created a short in one vehicle lighting circuits.

2. The velcro is too weak to hold the unit in place. I ended up using Radio Shack

LockTite fasteners (the clear ones) instead.

3. The manual leaves a lot to be desired, especially the pictures which are so low

contrast and dark they are useless. I had to go online and download the

manual as a PDF file.

Pros: The ScanGuage works as advertised. To me this is the Holy Grail of

advertising. It barely is worth repeating the items for sale that deliver what

they promise.

1. The display is large and very legible, even at night (or especially at night).

2. The diagnostics (both realtime and stored) are comprehensive

3. The codes are easy to read.

The biggest pro for me is being able to monitor my actual Miles Per Gallon

*mileage* I've changed my driving style from constant foot on the gas

pedal to gas-and-coast. A tank of gas lasts SO much longer now, because I

now know how much a lead foot costs. In fact for any given trip I can tell

how much it costs not only in dollars and cents, but also by engine load and

how far (or further) I got just coasting along.

The unit is (in my black & gray interior) inconspicuous, and the slightly

cheap look to the unit works to it's advantage: no one takes it seriously as

"a thing worth stealing."

If I had any indication that someone would understand what it does, I'd be

recommending it left and right. As it stands, it is something of a specialty

item, except you soon wonder how you ever got along without it.

  • Charger provides a full 10W (2,000mAh) of available current in a small form factor a little over 1 inch long. Flexible, straight cable measure 50 inches in total length.
  • Generous input voltage range of 12-24VDC, supports a wide variety of DC charging ports from cars and trucks (both foreign and domestic) to boats, planes and RVs.
  • Built using high quality capacitors and circuit components to ensure that charging current does not interfere with FM radio transmissions. Rigorous Q&A process.

Well, I took my Garmin 680 car power charger (with the Garmin of course) on a motor trip and shortly after leaving town the Power Charger fell apart in my cigarette lighter, breaking the cigarette lighter. The Toyota dealer said that one should never use the cigarette lighter to power other electronic devices--that one should use the car's power charger for that. Not all cars have additional power outlets---mine does. I was unable to find a replacment in any store so now must purchase one online. To make matters worse, I purchased the MS program that now cannot be used because it "reads" through the Garmin car the power charger. Fortunately, I found an adaptor that would power in my car using the wall plug. The Microsoft service, however, will have to wait until I can get another Garmin Car power plug.

Got my son a 2012 Ford Focus for Christmas. The Dealer surprised me when I found that I only had 1 remote. I called my local Ford Dealer Parts Department and was told I could get a replacement for $65.00. On a whim, I researched this one online and found this one on amazon. I found it VERY easy to program and paid a fraction of what the Ford Dealer was asking. Very happy with this purchase.

I ordered this remote to match the blue keys that I also purchased. Colors, and plastic match the keys perfectly.

Was able to program this remote by using this for my 2008 Ford Focus,

"1. Turn the ignition from "Off" to "Run" eight times in ten seconds. Key stays in "Run" position on eighth cycle. The locks will cycle to confirm that you've entered programming mode.

2. Press any key on the first remote you're programming. Perform this within 20 seconds of Step 1. The door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

3. Repeat Step 2 with each additional remote, within 20 seconds of the prior programming. The locks will cycle after each successful programming.

4. Turn the key to the "Off" position to exit the programming mode. Remove key from ignition. "

If you have more than one fob, be sure to program them both back in at the same time, even if you used one prior. This instruction will 'forget' any previous remotes if you don't program them back in.

My only gripe is that the range on this remote is a bit weak. Sometimes I have to be right up to the car before it'll work. My old remote ford remote was similarly weak though, and its not really a big problem for me.

I ordered 2, a blue and yellow, and they are awesome! I like them bein colored and not just plain black and the set up was super easy too!!! It seriously took like 2 mins and we were done. The instructions were easy to follow as well. The only thing I didn't like was that the rings don't come with it but we just put them on our car key rings which I'm assuming anyone would but just a heads up. They also provide tech service over the phone if you can't get it or just need help. This is an amazing buy and recommend it to anyone with a ford!!

After 10 days the blue light started flickering on and off. The unit would charge an iPhone only if both cords were inserted but not if both were actually being used. If I plugged an iPad into the other cord, I got an error message that charging was not supported with this device. If I left the cord in and unplugged the iPad, it charged just fine. If I unplugged the 2nd cord I got the message again that charging isn't supported.

The best thing about this charger is the price. I am not out much.

Seems to take forever to charge phone on this compared to others in the past. The blue power light on this charger flickers on and off at times.

Pioneer DEH-150MP Single DIN Car Stereo With MP3 Playback

Pioneer DEH-150MP Single DIN Car Stereo With MP3 Playback
  • In-Dash AM/FM, CD, MP3 Receiver with Remote
  • Single-line, multi-segmented LCD display with LED back light is 35% larger
  • Power Output: Peak: 50 watts x 4 channels RMS: 14 watts x 4 channels
  • Theft-deterrent, detachable face plate with anti-dust design
  • Wireless remote control included

GREAT performance, a wide variety of features, sharp appearance, and easy installation are definitely high points for this unit!

I have been a professional in the automotive service business for over 40 years, and I just could not believe how GREAT this unit sounds. It puts out great high, midrange, and bass frequencies equally well. With its multiple equalizer and bass boost settings it provides incredibly rich, full range, quality sound at a price (about $60) that just seems impossible to beat.

Although you will need to read up on all of its various settings and adjustments to "dial in" exactly what you want in the way of your own particular musical experience, it'll be well worth your time investment. The aux input jack is another great feature that lets you update your vehicle to easily connect an iPod or any other sound device up to it using a standard headphone mini-plug. The remote control that is included is also a nice touch even if you don't use it much. Imagine having a picnic somewhere, or using it in your RV, with this stereo providing the musical entertainment, and being able to control it from the very compact and lightweight remote you can keep in a shirt pocket. How cool is that?

It has a large, clear, screen display and an attractive, high-end-looking removable faceplate that offers some theft prevention, or at least theft-deterrent qualities.

Installation is very simple, as it will fit into any single-DIN slot by itself, or into any double-DIN slot if you add a single-DIN-sized pocket or spacer. Since almost every vehicle sold in the US in the last 30 years (at least up until the latter 2000s) uses the DIN mounting standard, there are very few vehicles in which this unit won't fit easily. It comes with screws to mount it to most vehicle manufacturers'stock mounting brackets. But if your vehicle is missing those brackets it's still no problem because it also comes with its own very thin sheet metal "sleeve" that can mount generically and sturdily to almost any factory stock or aftermarket DIN-sized frame/faceplate components. You then simply slide the unit into that sleeve and add the trim plate that is also included to complete a custom-looking installation.

To make things really easy and provide for a clean, factory-looking wiring job, I would suggest also buying and using an aftermarket wiring harness adapter (like the Metra 70-1720 Radio Wiring Harness I used for my friend's '93 Honda Accord, which was available through Amazon.com for only $3.55 when I bought it). That way you can connect the new stereo's wiring harness to the adapter at any convenient location outside of the car (like on your workbench or kitchen table) and then simply plug the adapter harness connector into your vehicle's factory radio wiring harness connector just as though you were plugging a factory radio into it. This makes for a neat, incredibly simple, and professional installation at VERY little additional cost.

If you are buying this unit to replace another unit that was stolen from your vehicle, and the thieves damaged or removed the factory wiring harness connector plug and some of the factory wiring, you can also inexpensively bring your vehicle radio wiring back to "like-new" condition by getting a "reverse wiring adapter harness" (like the Metra 71-1720 Reverse Wiring Harness I also bought for my friend's '93 Honda Accord). You then wire this "reverse" harness to the wiring in your dash that the thieves cut/damaged. You will then have a factory-type connector again, into which you connect the adapter harness connector as described in the above paragraph. Again, a great professional installation job.

Overall, this unit from Amazon is an AMAZING value... Thanks Amazon!!!

The only reason I replaced the factory radio was to have a line in port so I could listen to my ipod as I drive. This stereo is great for people like me. If you just casually listen to the radio and want to use the line in port now and again, this is a great option. There aren't a whole lot of other bells and whistles, but that saves me money in the end. I purchased a dash kit and wire harness from Amazon as well making the install really quick and painless.

Everything is great but one thing bothered me, on the box it claims that it supports USB, but there is clearly no USB input on the device.

Easy installation, low price, looks good, made my factory speakers come alive, and easy to use, it's awesome. I recomend this unit for anyone that needs a little something different, or needs to replace a non working stereo.

Actron CP7677 Automotive TroubleShooter - Digital Multimeter and Engine Analyzer

Actron CP7677 Automotive TroubleShooter - Digital Multimeter and Engine AnalyzerI'm a big fan of the high-end Flukes so I've worked with the best. Well, these defintitely aren't the best, but you can't beat what you get for the price. I got it for my brother for his car and it does the job well.

First, the bad:

1. No auto shut-off. You gotta make sure you turn it off or the battery will just keep draining away.

2. No auto-sensing. You gotta set the dial for the range you're looking for. But hey, I like it so much I don't care that I can't be so lazy.

And the good:

1. All the features. You get all the standards PLUS a tach and a dwell-meter! That'll about cover your carbureted cars.

2. Price. You can find multimeters that can't do the extras for the same price and even more. Great bargain.

3. Alligator clips. Simple things but it'd be a pain without them.

Plus, this thing will handle all the home electrical work.

As for the rest: I won't vouch for its durability but Actron is a decent company. They go towards affordable but not junky. The case is made of a light plastic, but it doesn't seem fragile. As for the tolerances, they're not bad:

DC Volts

Range: 200mV, 2V, 20V, 200V

Accuracy : ±(0.5% rdg + 5 dgts)

Audible Continuity

than 30-50 Ohms.

So for the price, a good deal.

This multimeter is an all around good tool. It has all the features you need plus some of the features that only the more expensive ones have. Like the battery tester and backlight display. I am studying electronics right now and I find myself getting a ton more use out of it than I thought I would. It is easy to use and the instruction manual that comes with it tells you how to perform most common tests that it does with pictures to go along. There are comperable multi-meters out there that cost less but most would cost more. There are certainly better multi-meters than this one but they will cost more. The only bad things I can say about this tool is that the battery is hard to get to. You have to remove 2 screws in the back and pry it apart. Actron should have just put one of those slide off battery covers on it. Also most multi-meters come with some sort of rubber, protective sleeve, that also has a lanyard for your hand so you dont drop it. If this mult-meter had a lanyard and the battery was easier to get out, I would have given it a 5 Stars.

This will perform any test a neophyte electrician will do. The instruction manual is well written and understandable. Instructions provided for most ignition tests of classic cars and sensor testing of newer cars.

I had been eyeing this multimeter for a while, and when it went on sale for half its list price, I grabbed it. It arrived promptly and works very well. The unit has a solid feel to it and the blue rubberized case around it and the "stand" behind are good features to have when working around places where it might get bumped like in the engine compartment. I found the included alligator clips a useful bonus a lot many of the ones in the mid thirties price range don't have this.

Two minor flaws it needs a 9 volt battery and doesn't ship with one. That was a minor annoyance not many people have these just lying around the house. Why not design the meter using AA batteries or just ship it with a 9V battery?

Second is that there is no sticky film protecting the (rather large) LCD display. For a meter that is meant for harsh outdoor environments in which it might get scratched, this is definitely an oversight.

But overall I am pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it as a solid entry level multimeter.

I purchased my multimeter in January of 2009 and was satisfied with the ease of use and the functionality. The booklet included with the meter was very helpful. I have a classic car and purchased the meter to find shorts and set the dwell. Recently as I began to use the tool, the dwell read 45 when turned on and not connected. When connected it was obviously way off as the car would not have run if the reading had been correct. I tested the rpm reading which also was incorrect. I tried several times to switch it off and on, but that didn't have any effect nor did removing and reinstalling the battery. I emailed customer service describing my problem. Their response was to ask about the purchase date. Once they had that information, they informed me that my meter was out of warranty and there was no way to repair it.

I realize that there are much more expensive multimeters, but I used this meter 4-5 times in two years. That seems like a quality issue.

NOCO HM318BKS Group 24-31 Snap-Top Battery Box for Automotive, Marine, and RV Batteries

NOCO HM318BKS Group 24-31 Snap-Top Battery Box for Automotive, Marine, and RV BatteriesI use these battery boxes on my boat and they work great. Excellent quality. Really think plastic walls. Protects my batteries from being exposed to water and gas. If you are a boater, these are a must have and very affordable. I really like that they are made in the USA! I purchased some cheap china boxes before these and the cracked within a year. Includes a nice mounting hardware kit for installing the batteries. All around well made product. Recommend.

Great battery box for the price. Made in the USA which is a nice bonus and works perfect for my pontoon boat.

I bought this to replace a battery box on my 07 popup camper as I wanted to go to a larger battery. It is a good box the little divider that is used to adjust the space to fit a smaller battery didn't last through it's first trip so I will have to come up with another wat to keep th ebattery from sliding around in the box. No big deal. Like the snap on feature, decide to use a different strap as I have to open the box after each camping trip to disconnect the battery so it will last longer. Good Box works ok

Belkin MIXIT Car Charger with USB Connection for Apple iPhone and iPod - 1 AMP (Pink)

Belkin MIXIT Car Charger with USB Connection for Apple iPhone and iPod - 1 AMP
  • Ultra-compact
  • Plugs into any car power outlet
  • 1 Amp/5 Watts
  • USB connection
  • Use your own 30-pin or 8-pin charging cable

Perhaps I got a dud. Don't know, but although this charger plugs into my car and the light is nice, my Apple iPhone5 lightning cables will not plug into the port. I tried other USB cables and they do plug in and my Amazon iPhone5 cable does, but neither of my Apple lightning cables do. Since the product description says the charger works with that cable specifically, I'm shy about trying it with another cable since originally the charger was for iPods and the iPhone4. I'm not willing to take a chance with my new phone. Both of my Apple cables fit nicely with my PowerGen car charger, my computer and the wall plug adapters and I've been using them successfully, so there must be some incompatibility with this unit or as I said, I got a defective one. Such a shame because I like the low profile and the light. I gave it two stars anyway because I'm sure it works with other phones, it just doesn't work with my lightning cables.

I love this little green car charger for my iphone and ipod. There are a number of things to appreciate about this contraption:

*It is small, so it doesn't clutter up your car like other chargers.

* It is compatible with the USB charger that comes with the devices, so you don't have to buy extras

* It is something I can leave in the car easily

* It lights up when it it is charging

*It is relatively inexpensive

Was looking for a car charger for the iPhone 4s my family just got. Wanted a unit with:

-a sleek profile

-solid construction

-matte black color, matching car interior

-good reviews

This charger does a pretty good job.

It matches our cars interior dash color of matte black. Good star count with equally good reviews. Compared to other chargers on amazon it has one of the sleeker profiles, not sticking out of the 12-volt socket an inch or more like some on amazon.

Unfortunately, it does not meet flush with the socket and dash. There is about a centimeter raise of the unit above the dash which I've caught my lanyard on and actually Pulled the unit out, which is not to difficult. With little force it pulls out of the socket.

Beside the slight issue of the unit pulling out and not flush, it works perfectly. I would recommend the unit to anyone who wants a solid low profile car charger.

I bought this mini charger thinking it would be flush to the dash like the previous Belkin chargers. This one is NOT. It works great, looks fine, but it does stick out a fair bit from the socket.

Vine sent me the blue one. I thought maybe the black would be better with the gray interior, but as it turns out, I like the bright color. Easy to see--especially because it is a small charger--easy to find the port, even with sunglasses on.

The bottom line is: it worked perfectly. Fit easily into the cigarette lighter, the USB connector fit perfectly from my ipod Touch5 and, from "battery empty", it charged fully in about 90 min of driving. I have had car chargers that didn't work, so I was very satisfied with this one. Good product--5 stars.
