Delphi SA10001 XM SKYFi Boombox

Delphi SA10001 XM SKYFi BoomboxAs others have noted:

PROS:

Decent sound, long antenna cord (20'), compact design, clean aesthetics.

CONS:

Flimsy volume control, antenna can't be attached without removing the battery compartment cover, and VERY ANNOYING high pitched hum that makes you think you're listening to AM radio. Unless you are willing to put up with this and need the portability, you're better off buying a home adpater and running the receiver through your home audio setup.

I bought my first XM 3-4 months ago and love it. I enjoy having the cable news at my finger tips and endless static free music where ever I go. The first thing I noticed was that all the chatter from the local radio adds and DJs was gone. Ahhh! what a relief. My only frustration was that I couldn't take this format with me; my old boombox was burdened with the same old adds and limited format. I'm thrilled Delphi has brought this out; I the tunner, car kit and boom box yesterday. My Sony, though very good is going to ebay. I've traded up.

Delphi has solved the problem with a product that is very well engineered. The sound of this boom box is very full. The tunner is great; love the all the display info and options. The satellite antenna wire stores inside the base (in case you don't need to run it to a window .. which I haven't had to do yet .. maybe when we go out of town).

I'm very pleased.

Buy Delphi SA10001 XM SKYFi Boombox Now

Delphi must have made an attempt to improve this model. Neither unit I bought had the high-pitched noise described by previous Amazon reviewers. But both units I received do have an AC hum when using the power adapter, and both have another noise -a repetitive, low-level clicking sound.

The noise isn't noticeable if the volume level is set above 6 or so, and if the boombox is placed a few feet from you. But if you listen at low volume with the unit close by, you might find the incessant click-click-click quite annoying. Classical music fans may find this unit completely unacceptable. At low volume during the quieter passages of classical music (XM channels 110, 112, and 113), the clicking sound actually breaks up the audio.

I unplugged all wireless devices in the house (they supposedly can cause interference with satellite radios), but that didn't solve the problem, even with the units placed well apart in different parts of the house. I suspect the clicking has more to do with the refreshing of the SkyFi 2 receiver's digital display than it does any external interference -it does appear synchronized with the scrolling display when you have it set to scroll.

I understand the SkyFi 2 receiver is not to blame, and that the receiver works well with other home or car audio kits. So, apparently, it's the Delphi boombox.

And there's another overall audio weakness in the product. In spite of the sales talk about the beefy, dual-cone speakers, the units sound like cheapo drugstore boomboxes. Actually, they sound less like boomboxes and more like "woof" boxes. Besides bass being practically nonexistent, harmonics in the plastic cases (sometimes called "case resonance") create a lot of cheap-sounding, mid-range woofiness. That has the unfortunate effect of rendering some talk programming -especially vintage recordings on the old-time radio channel and the comedy channel -almost unintelligible in places.

(I did manage to improve this problem a little on one of our units by removing the pop-off speaker grille covers, and by lining the boombox's interior with peel-and-stick felt to deaden the woofy harmonics. I don't recommend anyone try this. Besides possibly voiding the warranty, there are electronic components inside that could cause a nasty shock or could easily be damaged, and there is a heat sink inside that felt must be kept well away from or smoke or fire may result.)

If this is the only experience you have with satellite radio, you'll go away thinking it sounds little or no better than local AM radio. But -unless you're a classical music listener -it's not completely bad. Just wait for some heavy discounting before buying one, and make sure that you're willing to put up with some noisiness, and audio quality that's a little cheap-sounding.

For the money -especially the MSRP the unit originally sold for -it should have been better.

Boombox is nice, light weight, easy to move around. We got an antenna error and discovered (after much frustration and no help from Delphi or other merchants) that you must have the batteries in the unit even when using the plug for power. This eliminated our antenna error. But once that problem was solved, we love the unit!

Want Delphi SA10001 XM SKYFi Boombox Discount?

This thing is a HUGE dissapointment. There is an awful high pitched tone that you can hear behind the music. The only way to avoid it is to turn up the music so loud that it drowns the buzz out. If you listen to classical or jazz forget about this boombox. If you don't like listening to your music super loud forget about this boombox. It will drive you crazy. Listening to talk on this is awful. The buzzing will drive you crazy. It is like listening to a distant am station. I can't believe this thing is being sold on the market. It needs to be recalled and the problem needs to be fixed. Many people have had problems with this box and Delphi refuses to acknowledge the problem even though they know about it and have received many complaints. Don't buy this boombox. It is a waste of time and money.

Clifford Matrix 1x 2-Way Security Alarm System

Clifford Matrix 1x 2-Way Security Alarm SystemThis alarm is perfect if your looking for solid security on somewhat of a budget.

Pros:

2-way LCD (shows you if your car is locked/unlocked on the remote, shows you which areas are tampered with and beeps when alarm is set off loud enough to wake you up)

Great Range Uses Clifford's new XR+ Extreme Range superheterodyne reciever for better range and better reliability on signals. Works about a 1/4 mile when there's not much blocking it, about 400 feet maybe when there is something blocking (like a building) but this is actually better then most other 2-way pagers.

Starter Kill Disables your starter in the event the alarm is triggered so vehicle won't start.

Blue LED Let's them know your car is armed

Extra remote comes with an extra 4 button 1 way remote just in case

Loud siren Really loud. Louder then my Honda factory alarm for sure and louder then most car horns

Adjustable sensor Shock sensor is adjustable so you can set how sensitive your car is to being knocked

Dome light supervision interior dome light (if equipped) can be wired to the alarm lock/unlock.

Audible & Visable Confirmation beeps when armed or disarmed, and flashes parking lights, also beeps on 2-way remote

Life-time Warranty DEI backs a lifetime warranty on their alarms & Clifford is no exception

Cons:

Not as many add-on outputs as other alarms (but this doesn't matter unless you want to add a lot of things like automatic window roll up, back up battery, etc)

Nothing else negative!

I LOVE this alarm, its great and really does its job. I'm no longer worried about my car wherever it may be parked and i'm not worried about anyone coming to mess with it when its parked on my drive way or on the street because its in close enough of a range to page me.

You can't beat any alarm made by DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.)

it does the job, i had to have the shop reprogram it...guess i had mismatched remotes or something 123 456

I bought this brand Clifford, which installed by professional. For first 3 months, all my electronic system went banana and of course it was out of order. I took back to the dealer. They re-installed and re-set everything. This time after only a month, all my light panel went banana again. All of them, system, SRS, signal, engine and oil warning lid up. I brought back to the deal, who was nice enough to rip off the whole thing and install a new one.

After 6 months, it happened again. I got sick of it. I deactivated system myself and promised never buy Clifford again. I advise you not too.

A painful experience: money and time and headache.

sixwina.

PS: The dealer was very good. I don't think the installer got to do with this problem. They installed my friend car with Viper without any problem.

Battery-Disconnect Switch - Will Fit Both Side Post and Top Post

Battery-Disconnect Switch - Will Fit Both Side Post and Top PostInexpensive but well-made, this Disconnect Switch is simple to install in a couple of minutes. We put one on my wife's minivan to secure it after an attempted break-in and it works great! Unscrew the knob about one turn and, while a small amount of current through the fused jumper maintains radio and other memory functions, high-current functions like the starter are totally disabled.

Unscrew the knob completely out of the switch and take it with you for maximum security and as a reminder you have disabled the system. My wife has already blown two fuses, forgetting she had disconnected the battery. It works as advertised: but with the switch open, turn the key, the fuse blows, everything goes dead, and you spend the next ten minutes re-programming the radio. Popping a fuse doesn't hurt anything, but volatile memory will disappear. You can still tighten the knob, closing the switch and start the engine, so it's only a convenience and not a safety issue.

If you buy one of these switches, lay in a good stock of 15A mini fuses too . . . you will blow several before you learn the new starting drill!

My wife's 1981 El Camino has an electrical problem that drains the battery after a week or so and we've been unable to find the cause. This resulted in having to replace the battery every year as it'd get to the point where it wouldn't take a charge.

I ordered this bit of hardware in the hopes that it'd save the battery. It did.

Installation was easy... the adapter for side mount batteries worked fine, but I did have to spend a nice chunk of change at PepBoys for a post adapter for the other end of this switch.

The end result though is that when my wife gets home at night, she raises the hood, turns the knob and knows that the battery will be charged the next time she needs to drive the car.

If you have a car that doesn't get driven often, or has an electrical problem as I've described, I think this is a great solution for a reasonable price.

Buy Battery-Disconnect Switch - Will Fit Both Side Post and Top Post Now

It should be simple, disconnect old cable, put this on, and reattach cable.

However, the terminal post for the cable is too small for normal battery cables. No amount of tighting the cable bolt will firm it up for a decent connection.

I've tried two different kinds of these to install on two different cars, and both have the same problem.

Now, I'm out to find some soft copper sheeting to make up for the difference.

The switch itself seems quite solid and simple to use. If you're not concerned about the memory settings maintained by the jump line [this draws current too], get a cheaper one for $11.99.

Read Best Reviews of Battery-Disconnect Switch - Will Fit Both Side Post and Top Post Here

I believe the claims to fit both a side post and top post battery are very misleading and inaccurate. Since I live out in the country, I bought this thinking I could install it without additional parts. As well, the fused link defeats the purpose of a battery disconnect. When I tried to install this on a side post battery there are in sufficient parts to complete the installation. There is no way to connect the cable to the other end of the switch. To use this I had to travel to town (I live 50 miles from town) and get nuts and bolts ($2.20) to get it to work. I you install the fused link, then you still get battery drain from the on-board electronics and within a short week (at least in a GMC pickup) the battery is dead. I do NOT recommend the purchase of this switch for a side post battery.

The only problem I had with this amp is that it overheats easily and can melt things internally very fast...But after getting it repaired and learning this it is a good amp to play around with from time to time but if you look at this amp for power and don't know about RMS yet you should do the research now and then shop later...I bought 3 amps before I found out about RMS value.

Thsi is an excellent product. One of the best that I have purchased. The only problem is that it takes too long to ship from the 'real' supplier Auto Meter. I can't really use this product as there are radio stations that broadcast using the same frequencies as this product. I can't dial out the radio station and dial in my mp3 player. Wish the unit offered a wider frequency range.

I had been using a Belkin plug-in transmitter in my car but got tired of the static. I've been using this Coby unit at home for listening to audiobooks on my MP3 player with great results. In the house, I found that it transmits strongly about 15 feet, drops off quickly after that. The position of the short plug wire relative to the radio makes a difference, so I guess that's the antenna.

I decided to try it in my Camry, which has an antenna in the rear windshield. I really get a sense of the power of this thing in the car. When I turn it on, static turns to silence. Because my main need is to listen to audiobooks, frequency cutoffs are not important, and I can't report on them.

I like that I can go down to 87.7 FM, below the 88.0 limit of most FM stations. Great in a crowded urban environment. Three pre-tunes seems enough most of the time. I do live in the suburbs of Rochester, NY, so your own experience may vary.

The problem is battery life. This unit burns through a pair of AAAs in about six to eight hours, not a big problem if you remember to turn the unit off, of if you use rechargeable batteries. I would like to see an auto-shutoff feature.

If I could, I'd take maybe half a star away for the battery issue. But at this price, I can't imagine a better deal.

I owned the previous version of this. Almost identical in the picture.

The earlier version had digital tuning across the whole FM band.

The current version has only four channels switch selected.

The old one had a 30 hour battery life. This has a 6 hour battery life.

I searched out the Coby because of my good experience. This is not as good as the $12 from Wal-Mart

Don't bother with this product unless you like the sound of static. It was like listening to a scratchy record. I had to turn the volume on my car radio and my MP3 player up as loud as they would go, and only then could I hear the music. But the quality was not good at all.

DEWALT DCF813S2 12-Volt Max 3/8-Inch Impact Wrench Kit

DEWALT DCF813S2 12-Volt Max 3/8-Inch Impact Wrench KitThe Dewalt DCF813 is small, allowing it to get into confined places, lightweight and comfortable to handle. The

largest bolt I can break loose with it is 1/4"(7/16 hex),or 5/16(1/2 hex),if it's not rusty.This is

about what I expected from a impact this size. I break bolts loose with a ratchet, then use the impact to spin them off. When installing,I spin them on with the impact and do the final tightening with a ratchet

or torque wrench. So basically,I use it like a modern version of a Speeder Handle, and it works good for this.

Buy this, if you're home mechanic to fix your own or friend car or do something around the house, do not expect this little thing to spin off a lugs nut (Home mechanic do not take a tires off every week, don't you ? just break them loose with breaker bar and use this to spin them off and put them back then use torque wrench after)

I tested this tools to see how much torque of this tools can break off by torque down one of a lug nut, starting at 30 ft/lb and gradually increase up to 50 ft/lb and this thing give up at exactly 50 ft/lb, so here you all know this thing will break loose almost anything inside your engine bay, a few sample here for some of you may want to know how / what of a bolt size used inside your car

Base on some BMW car Spec.

First off I should say that I am not a professional in any field that would use this tool, so my comments are made from the standpoint of a layman making casual use of this product. That said, I am very happy with the performance and quality of this impact wrench.

The product itself has a nice, solid feel to it. The grip is comfortable and both the trigger and the switch to change the direction of the drill are conveniently placed. The body is sturdy and light enough for continual use. Two battery packs came with the unit so that you can always have a fully-charged battery to use. The pack slides on a locks easily, and removal is the same way.

As for performance, I feel the wrench has enough torque to get most normal jobs done. Start-up to full-speed is instantaneous when depressing the trigger all the way, and it also has a nice control over the variable speed aspect although the instructions caution against varying the speed too often because that will shorten the life of the wrench. And of course it is very handy having the automatic part of the wrench to save the trouble of having to manually tighten or untighten things.

There is a ring of three white LED lights around the drill part that comes in handy to see what you are doing when the room lighting isn't sufficient. It also comes with a nice little carrying case. I found that sockets click on and off quite easily.

All in all this is a solid, well-built product that should last a long time.

Schumacher SE-3000 Manual Fleet Battery Charger

Schumacher SE-3000 Manual Fleet Battery ChargerI needed a charger for a large set of deep cycle batteries, something that would put out lots of amps continuously. And of course I didn't want to spend a lot of money. This charger has worked great, met all my expectations.

But understand what it is, a big heavy manual charger. Left on it's highest setting it will fry all but the biggest batteries. But if you have big batteries, 600 amp hours or bigger, it's great. That's amp hours, not CCA or cold cranking amps.

Why only 4 out of 5 stars? Two flaws. Two of the sheet metal screws on the outside are stripped, easy to fix. The other flaw is worse. The cables are only 6 gauge. If you use the charger at full potential, outputting 60-80 amps, for more than 30 minutes the cables get hot. Once the cables started smoking, melting the insulation, luckily I noticed and turned off the charger. This thing should have a least 4 gauge cables.

But I think most people will use it on car batteries, so the hot cable issue shouldn't be a problem.

The battery charger works wonderfully and it contains the desired features, but the sheet metal box isn't very sturdy. Like other chargers I've seen at various stores, the manufacturer saved a few pennies by using a light gauge sheet metal. The first item delivered was dented even though the shipping box didn't appear to have any damage. The return and exchange was quite easy. I still had the first one when the replacement item arrived several days later. The second item was also damaged. Luckly, I could assemble one good item out of the two I received.

Buy Schumacher SE-3000 Manual Fleet Battery Charger Now

Ordered two of these for local fire dept. they have trucks with 6 volt all the way up to 24 volt starting systems and one charger is easier to keep track of than four different voltage ones. A couple things i recommend after using this charger are: keeping an eye on the clamps they get hot on high charging rate with high CCA battery, and on 6 volt low it is not a trickle charger, so don't leave timer on to long. All that said it is a good value for a small fleet or farm in a big charger.

Read Best Reviews of Schumacher SE-3000 Manual Fleet Battery Charger Here

Charger is functional in 6, 12, and 24 volts. Will do lite duty charging. The cables are very lite duty, so be careful if you are charging high amps in 12 volts or using 24 volts. The case is very lite duty also, even though it was packaged well, it was dented but did not affect use. I kept it as it was minor and I figured it would eventually get bumps and scrapes during use. In my opinion not a "fleet" quality charger. I will get by as I am using it as a backup second charger. Bottom line: You get what you pay for. It was about half price of a "fleet" quality charger.

Charge-It Concentrated Battery Additive 32 oz.

Charge-It Concentrated Battery Additive 32 oz.Almost four years ago, the battery on my Sienna 2000 would not start the van. It had slightly bulged on one side and would no longer take the charge. It also failed a load test.

I was about to replace the battery when a friend of mine gave me a small 2 oz. bottle of Charge-It. At first I doubted its capability to rejuvenate a dead battery, but I had nothing to lose if I added the stuff to my battery. I poured the liquid into the six cells, and charged the battery overnight. The amazing thing happened. The next morning, the battery's state of charge went up to 75%. I then continued to charge the battery for about 8 hours, and the state of charge moved up to 100%. The van started immediately, and the battery has been going strong ever since, with no more signs of sulfation. I felt good because I not only saved money but also helped protect the environment in a meaningful way.

Since that successful experience, I have been recommending Charge-It to my other friends. They have used it to regenerate dozens of discarded, dead, or weak batteries, many of which were deep cycle ones. As long as the batteries did not have mechanical damages, the results have all been wonderful. My friends all thanked me for recommending this magical product.

Charge-It is the same cadmium formula as VX-6. I wrote a chapter in Vol. 1 about the install procedure for a 6V, H-2 Harley battery.

The reason I suggest getting the 32 and the small 2 or 4oz. bottle is that the small bottle has sections marked on the side for easy installation.

The 32 oz. bottle is to turn your friends on to, when you see how long your battery last.

I have a 11 yr. old new Japan, 6V, H-2 for my Panhead. The battery sat factory sealed in it's original box. Each of the (3) cells in the battery had vacuum-sealed caps.

When I took the battery caps off and looked inside, all (3) cells were packed completely furry with white calcification, from reacting to the humidity in the air (the vacuum had long ago equalized). I installed 1/3 of a small bottle into each cell, then added electrolyte (acid) and stood by as the calcium began rapidly dissolving, and added more electrolyte as I watched the acid level in the cells drop as more calcium continued to dissolve. After the initial full-to-the-top-line acid is installed never use acid again, only distilled water. Charge the battery every time you add more distill water to top off cells.

My 11 yr. old (new) battery came to life and holds a full charge in all (3) cells.

I have a 3 yr. J.C. Whitney 12v battery in my Honda 250 Rebel, purchased from J.C. Whitney and put into service on 12/26/06, that has lasted 5 yrs. and still going. [Note: The date of installation is buzzer-etched into the top of the battery.]

TRUST IN "CHARGE-IT".

**********************************

The 11 yr. old, furry celled, H-2 Harley, 6V, battery is still kicking strong. Like new. ONLY because of CHARGE-IT. The battery retains 6.4 volts when meter-tested after a ride.

The 3 yr. old "3-year" Honda 250 Rebel battery is still going strong as expected.

~ DO NOT CHARGE A MOTORCYCLE BATTERY WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN A (micro-amperage) "BATTERY TENDER" or Schumacher® listed below. An automotive or 1 amp "motorcycle battery" charger will still warp the plates and Charge-It will not straighten warped plates.~

********************************

June 11, 2011 Here with an updated report:

The 12 yr. old H-2, 6v, Harley battery is still going strong! I've installed it on my Panhead, which now has 200 miles on a new pistons and rings. When I put the battery on Battery-Tender trickle charge, the top "charging" lamp will go out in about 20 minutes and change to the lower drip of "Monitoring Charge" lamp below.

The "3-year" Honda 250 Rebel 12v battery is still going strong at (5) yrs.

"Geritol for your battery, or what?"

*********************************

11/11/11 My 5 yr. old (36. warranty!) 12V Honda Rebel battery and my 12 yr. old, pre-crystalized cells of my Harley-Davidson, Charge-It revived battery are still going strong.

I left my 6V battery uncharged for 3 weeks put the Battery Tender on it and the "storage charging" lamp lit right away, by-passing the "charging" lamp altogether.

Charge-It is mother's milk for your battery.

**********************************

March 24, 2012...... both batteries are still kickin' !

June 24, 2012....... sadly we've taken the 6V, H-2 battery off life-support on approx. May 1, 2012, when the H-2 failed to retain enough voltage to trigger the BatteryTender® into a charging cycle. Once shock-started to life by the Schumacher® micro-power-charger, the H-2 would begin the Tender® chg. cycle, but then would never transition from "charging" to "monitoring". Ol' H-2 led a hard life from the beginning, what with being crystallize in dry-storage and all. H-2... we hardly knew ya'. :(

*************

The now (5) year old (36 month) Honda Battery is still going strong. I have a new 12V on the shelf (vacuum, dry-storage) like a buzzard perched on a fence rail, rocking back and forth waiting for the 12/26/06, 12V battery to expire.

Happy starts all around. :)

***************

9/25/12 Sad to report the 12/26/06 (engraved) 12V Honda battery failed to start the motor this morning. Pushing the horn button received only a "pop" from the horn-speaker. So well.. doing the math...let's see.. that's 6 yrs., 3 months from a Taiwan "Yatch" (3) yr. battery using (obsolete) CADMIUM content Charge-It.

You have my word on all the facts. Thank you.

I've been using this for about 6 months in several batteries, not long enough to really comment on the lifetime of a battery, but it looks like the real deal. I've not had any trouble with the batteries, all are charging up well.

Read Best Reviews of Charge-It Concentrated Battery Additive 32 oz. Here

Before I start, please note that this post is not intended primarily as a review of the product per se (althogh I do own two bottles of the product, and have played with this product in my research lab), but rather an attempt to correct some myths that were accidentally introduced and perpetuated by earlier reviewers on this Amazon listing page.

(As for the product itself, my feelings are rather neutral; I feel that it may be a useful battery additive at times for certain flooded (aka wet) lead-acid batteries and for certain users, depending upon the exact battery design/construction and dependent upon the condition and history of the battery. I can state firmly that there have been a number of research studies over the past 70 years, and also hundreds of user testimonials from profossional-level users in industry and commerce that indicate that some earlier battery additive products that were very similar in composition to ChargeIt did indeed reduce sulfation, and also increased charge acceptance and charge capacity of treated batteries, and also reduced the volumd of deposits and sludge at the bottom of the cells, and also reduced temperatures within the cells during charge and discharge. So, ChargeIt will likely be a very useful product for treating some batteries that have not aged well.)

Several earlier reviews about this product, and also some notes on other websites as well, claim that the battery addditive product called Charge-It (manufactured by SolderIt, aka Solder-It) contains cadmium sulfate, the same compound that was the active ingredient in the old famed VX-6 battery additive product (which is no longer available in the USA). This claim that Charge-It contains cadmium sulfate is not true, and, according an an engineer at SolderIt with whom I spoke inAugust of 2012, the Charge-it product has never contained cadmium in any form since it became part of SolderIts' product line. Rather, according to the engineer with whom I spoke at SolderIt, the active ingredient in Charge-It is aluminum sulfate dissolved in water, along with a proprietary wetting agent (this wetting agent is used because aluminum sulfate does not dissolve easily in water.)

BTW, since so many commenters and websites claim that the Charge-It product contains cadmium sulfate, and since some folks do wish to purchase cadmium sulfate (aka cadmium sulphate) battery additive products, the only two battery products that are still commercially available today (August 2012) that I am sure contain cadmium sulfate as the active ingredient are Inox MX2 and Battery Equaliser, and I have verified these claims by perusing the MSDS documents for each product, and in one case, by also calling the manufacturer and speaking with their engineers on the phone. I suspect that a few of the other commercially-available battery additives available on the market may also contain cadmium sulfate as well, but the two products that I have mentioned above are the only products for which I have been able to verify this claim with 100% certainty.

There are also several websites and webpage comments that have claimed that Charge-It contains calcium disodium EDTA, a chelating agent, as its active ingredient. Again, this claim is entirely not true, although there are indeed some few battery additives on the market that do contain EDTA as the active ingredient. (I personally would never recommend using an EDTA product as an additive in a flooded lead-acid battery, but to each their own cup of tea!)

To the best of my knowledge, the statments that I have made above are entirely true, and I am a well-known multi-disciplinary consulting scientist/engineer with long experience in the field of flooded (aka wet) lead-acid batteries and their care.

I bought this product to (hopefully) extend the life of my 6+ year old batteries in our golf cart. I cleaned the batteries and terminals and then added the suggested amount to each filler cap on the six volt batteries. The batteries took a long time to charge, but each time after that, the time it took to charge has decreased. So far, so good. I knew the batteries had just about had it, so this was a gamble to see if I could extend the life for a year or two. Golf cart batteries only last 4-6 years as it is so I am getting "extra mileage" out of the existing ones. $25.00 versus $600.00 on a bet is a no-brainer, so I thought why not? I would try it on just about any battery. UPDATE 2/22/13: THE GOLF CART IS STILL RUNNING FINE. I THINK THE PRODUCT IS WORTH THE PRICE!

Directed Electronics 7701V Remote for Viper Responder SST Car Alarm
  • Responder Sst Remote For Viper 5900 and Viper 5500

I bought this as a spare remote for my Viper 5900 alarm. If you have the alarm already, it works exactly the same as the remote that comes with the alarm. Syncing it is very easy, instructions are on the back of the packaging. If you are looking for an alarm...this is only the remote.

This is an excellent deal if you have a viper alarm on your car. I needed a replacement, but I was able to get by with a replacement case sent to me from viper for free, so I sent this product back. I did have to pay restocking fee so make sure it is what you need. However, if you go with viper, this little responder has incredible range....totally incredible range to start your vehicle on a cold day. It works from long distances and beyond brick building walls etc... One suggestion, please send instructions on how to program to your vehicle.

Simply brilliant, easy to use, very bright and visible in daytime or nighttime. I bought this kit last week and installed it without reading the 1 page included instruction since I am a handyman by heart. I only glanced at the pictures in the instructions for few seconds.

This laser kit works every time I open or close the garage door. Ordered one more for my dad's upcoming birthday. Hopefully I get it in time.

Pros:

Very visible and bright green laser day or night.

Stays on as long as the garage opener light stays on, usually few minutes for me.

Cons:

Instructions could use more pictures.

I just received this kit today. After reading other reviews listed here, I was looking forward to getting it installed. The included screw in AC adapter would not work on my opener (older model Craftsman). It appears the socket is too deep and too close the the opener itself for this adapter to work. I tried another one that I already had, and it too would not work. I don't think anything other than a light bulb will work in my opener.

The lasers in this kit must get their power from the opener light in order to work properly, so it looks like I will have to look elsewhere. I also noticed the little plastic clips that are supposed to hold the lasers are really flimsy and nothing like the pictures on here. One of the 2 in my kit was already broken. That was disappointing given the price of this kit. I'm sure the lasers are good quality, but for the price I would expect the entire kit to be of good quality.

I was a bit skeptical if this product would a) Work during the day b) Be consistent because I have a very small garage c) Hold up to cold climates.

So far so good. I will come back to review again if something changes, but as of right now, it works as advertised.

This works great. My wife was always hitting the shelves in my garage and I thought I would give this product a try. The setup was pretty simple and I like the fact that it didn't require batteries. It pretty much does what it's supposed to so no real complaints. I'll update the review if any changes.

Pretty awesome parking system, easy to install, very bright (can see it while using it during the day)! Im very happy with the purchase and would recommend it.
