Wagan IN9438 12V Heated Seat Cushion with Lumbar Support (Black Velour)

Wagan IN9438 12V Heated Seat Cushion with Lumbar SupportBefore purchasing I read the reviews here, noting several complaining about the frailty of the 12 volt power plug. I purchased this model in November 2011. I also purchased this model: Wagan IN9738-5 12-Volt Heated Seat Cushion for a few dollars less. Each item is installed in a different car and gets routine use here in the chilly state of Michigan. So far, we've experienced no issues with the power plugs on either of the cushions. This model ('velour' material) does feel a bit nicer to the hand, but that's the only difference other than the shape and size of the cushions.

The switch for Off-Low-High is the same for each model and works fine and seems durable. I suppose if it were to get jammed somewhere near the seat rail of the car seat, it could be damaged when sliding the seat back and forth, but that hasn't happened to us. If your car has the type of 12 volt power outlet that automatically goes off when the car is shut off, you don't have to worry about the cushion accidentally draining your battery. One of my cars is like this. In the other car, we must remember to either shut off the seat, or unplug it. Not really a big deal, and the plug seems durable enough to stand up to repeated unplug/plug-in use.

The low setting is all we've used so far, and that's been warm enough. Maybe in January and February we'll need the High setting. With these cushions, we've found we don't need to have the heater blowing on High or even Medium. On long trips, we can take off our heavy coats and be a bit more comfortable.

As for the lumbar support in this model...with the bulky clothing we wear in the cold months, I can't say I notice it. Alternatively, maybe I don't notice it because of the differences between the seats in the two cars.

Neither of our cars came with heated seats and these products are the next best thing to the factory option. I believe they are worth their current prices even if they only last one winter, but I don't foresee that being the case.

Bought it for my wife and she loves it. But there are a couple issues. First and most important is that it does not have an automatic shut off. Twice we went out the next morning and had a dead battery. The other is that our Suburban has a seat mounted seat belt and an arm rest so the back straps don't hold the cushion in place. We have solved this by using upholstery "twist pins"

These work wonderfully. I bought two for my 3000 mile drive across the country and they keep you warm without ever feeling like you are on fire. And the very best part for absent minded folks like myself is that they automatically turn off when you turn the car off so you can't drain your battery!

I bought 4 of these for family Christmas gifts after we purchased a new car with heated seats. These work the same way and each family member has been VERY pleased with the performance. My next purchase will be 2 more for the back seat in my car. Unless you have cold feet, a heated seat can be more comfortable than having the car heating system on. And for long trips the extra lumbar support with heat is a "back-saver."

Want Wagan IN9438 12V Heated Seat Cushion with Lumbar Support (Black Velour) Discount?

This is a nice seat cushion. It is more comfortable (and fits the contours of a modern bucket seat better) than the other (Wagan IN9738-5) seat cover we have in our cars.

The lumbar support is decent but minimal. It's a soft lumbar pad slightly thicker than the padding on the rest of the cushion. It won't really help much if your seat lacks lumbar support, but it won't hurt, and is nice to have. My car has sufficient lumbar support, and the addition of this pad doesn't make it too much--just an extra, nice cushy feel in the small of my back.

As other reviews have mentioned, the bottom straps are...difficult. There will most likely be no appropriate items for you to fasten the 4 little straps (with clips on the end) to. The little elastic straps are just not long enough. An easy solution is to tie strands of cord or twine to appropriate fixation points on the bottom of your seat, and then tie or clip the pad's little straps to your cords, adjusting cord lengths as necessary. One of the cheap plastic clips broke in half (it was not abused by me) while I was installing it, but it was not needed, as I just tied the cord to the elastic strap instead. The missing star in my rating is for the cheap clips and the poorly designed straps on the bottom cushion.

By the way, if memory serves me correctly, somebody noted that only the back (or bottom?) provided heat. Their cushion must have been defective. In my unit, heat is evenly distributed throughout the back and bottom cushions.

By the way, don't be stupid like I was and plug this into your cheap multi-port 12v adapter without checking to see if the adapter's fuse is robust enough to handle the load. Fried my cheap little sub-$5 2-port adapter instantly. Just gave me an opportunity to upgrade, I guess.

NOCO Genius G750 6V/12V 750mA Amp Smart Battery Charger and Maintainer

NOCO Genius G750 6V/12V 750mA Amp Smart Battery Charger and MaintainerThis charger is great I use it to charge and maintain my jet ski battery. I plan to buy a second one for my other ski and tell my parents to get 2 of their own for their jet skis. Would also be great for dirt bikes and motorcycles.

Easy to use, compact, lightweight, two options to connect the batteries, perfect to use in my motorcycle's batteries. I can screw the connector and left the cable in the motorcicle to use it when I need, also the charger connector has a ruber protector to avoid wather and dust.

I purchased this battery charger because of the auto memory feature. I live in an area where the power tends to go out quite a bit, and I don't have a backup generator. This feature saves me time having to go back and check to make sure it is keeping my lawn equipment charged. Have been leaving it connected to the battery ever since my purchase and no issues. A great charger for the money.

Bluetrek Compact Classic Ultra Slim Loud and Clear Carkit Speaker Driver Pack - Black

Bluetrek Compact Classic Ultra Slim Loud and Clear Carkit Speaker Driver Pack - BlackOK, I have to admit I had high hopes for this unit. I liked the thin design and using the mic to turn the unit on/off. Having the unit on the visor keeps the mic and speaker close. I was hoping that Bluetrek had improved on the previous design since I had read many mixed reviews on this and similar car kits. The unit charged quickly though took a while to pair initially. Now, when my iphone is searching and I lower the mic it pairs in seconds. Hold the button down and access voice control to dial. I've only made a few calls, but the other end could not tell I was on bluetooth. The volume can go loud if you need it, but with the speaker close to your head you won't. I have not tried it with windows down nor with music in the background. Also, I have not tried it outside of my car so I can't speak to the distance it can hold a connection. Only time will tell if it can hold up to the heat of the Las Vegas desert. For the price, i'm very satisfied.

I ordered 4 of these for myself and other family members not too long ago.

Worst piece of junk I've ever encountered, hands down...or hands free.

3 failed to pair... no matter what we did on our new Iphones. One did. I sent 2 back immediately for a refund from Amazon.

One I smashed into a million itty bitty pieces and mailed it to Bluetrek. It was worth the $47 of satisfaction I got from obliterating this piece of garbage.

I wish that I didn't have to give it even ONE star!

At least Amazon answered and reimbursed me. ( They have my everlasting loyalty for standing by me )

Bluetrek customer support is non existent so I can only say they don't care about their product

and won't support it.

I solved the problem with the purchase of Jabra Drive hands free devices instead.

Pairs up easily and works like a charm. So far I've used it for 3 months and it hasn't needed a charge yet.

I bought 2 of these, thinking they were like the one I had previously owned. Not even close! Looks similar, but sound it so bad you can't even use it. My speaker phone on my mobile is a better option. Total waste of money and time :-( Tried to return them, but I was on vacation, tried when I got back, but Amazon says I missed the return "window" by one day! Also, had to return one right away, did not accept a charge, so I didn't get to test until later....The one that did except a charge didn't recognize my phone at first, so much time wasted...

I thought this would be the answer to my all my phone-on-board worries! However, there's no one home so this just keeps on ringing in some very key areas.

What's good:

1) the price

2) Easy set-up

3) Extremely good/clear speaker

4) Manipulating phone controls can be done via the kit or the cellphone

5) I have found that the battery power has been quite reliable.

What's bad:

1) people on the other side of your conversation have great difficulty in hearing you clearly and without drop-outs/breaks in the signal. Even when you speak no more than two inches from the microphone. This makes for an extremely frustrating conversation when you are trying to focus on the road. i sometimes have to switch back to the handheld in order to finish my conversation. For this reason alone, i could never recommend this buy.

Want Bluetrek Compact Classic Ultra Slim Loud and Clear Carkit Speaker Driver Pack - Black Discount?

I bought this for $20, which was a very reasonable price. I find that the speaker quality is O.K., and people sound a little tinny. Don't have the window down or you won't hear anything as it is not very loud. But it holds a charge for a long time.

Zoombak 101213 Vehicle Installation Kit

Zoombak 101213 Vehicle Installation Kit
  • For use with all Zoombak GPSn Locators
  • Allow Zoombak to be transferred from vehicle to vehicle

The unit was delivered on time, in good shape, and as promised. It is easy to hook up once you've located a wire that has 12 volt continuous power when the car is turned off. I bought a cheap multi meter at Radio Shack for about $19.00, which made this job easier. It also would have been easier still if I had bought a wiring diagram for the car, but instead I probed for a few hours until I found a 12 volt continuous power supply. Once I found that, the rest of the hookup is a snap. Since hooking up the unit my Zoombak has worked flawlessly, without the hassle of having to recharge the battery every few days. Good luck!

Buy Zoombak 101213 Vehicle Installation Kit Now

I use my locator for a vehicle not in my immediate possession, so I appreciate the fact this device negates the need to re-charge.

In my opinion, the next generation locator should include a car charger with the device built-in, especially since the installation, while simple for those with rudimentary electrical knowledge, will likely prove difficult for many others.

Works great, I have 2 zoombak units, one on my 2008 Smart car, and one on my 2008 Ninja Motorcycle. I was going to use lojak, but this way I can get to the thief before the police, and handle the situation my way. Also is great to see where I have been recently, and when they say at work, you were not at the customers location, I show the log, and that stops that argument quickly.

My Zoombak order was delivered quickly to the Rio Grande Valley where I am wintering. I installed the kit under the seat of my All Terrain Vehicle--simple in less than an hour! I feel more secure with this high theft item (Honda Rincon ATV)since Zoombak provides a way to get a signal quickly if the vehicle has been taken and facilitates tracking the ATV.

I got the installation kit because I was tired of low battery warnings arriving hours before the kid was expected to be home. I got a great price and it was simple and fast to install. No more worries.

If your debating a kinetik or an optima I would defiantly recommend the kinetik. Reason being it does exactly what it says. Stops dimming lights. I have Kenwood 1800 watt amp pushing 2 Kenwood shallow mount 12s. This battery delivers a lot of power. Not only have my lights stopped dimming but my system sounds a lot more clean. I have gone 3 hours with my radio on and my truck will start right up. Great buy for the price.

Received the product in a double boxed package because it weighs so much,no defects with battery. I have had the battery installed for about 3 weeks now and it has performed flawlessly. Totally recommend the Battery for anyone that is running a high wattage stereo system. The battery was installed in a 1997 Ford F-150 and it fits pretty snug, but it fits with no modifications to the truck.

Want Kinetik KHC2000 2000-Watt 12-Vault Power Cell Discount?

This battery is awesome. I really like it. It's like having a giant battery and a giant capacitor all in one. It really delivers power fast. Even when I pound my system (it's a very high power system) my lights don't disco dimm at all. That's a problem I had with my previous battery. I decided to try this before I upgraded my charging system, and I'm glad I did. Looks like I don't need a high output alternator at all. If I continuously pounded my system for long periods, I probably would need one, but I only play it really loud for short periods. The rest of the time I listen to it at normal person levels. :) This battery handles the short periods just fine, and its able to get recharged just fine afterwards.

I bought this as a second battery for my car because my sound system was pulling so much from my battery that not only did my lights in my car dim, but the battery meter in the car was dropping dramatically every time a base note hit. I knew I needed a second battery. I am running a 3000 watt amp with two 1200 watt subs, and when I got this battery it really did the trick. Now I can run my subs twice as hard as I used to and not only doesn't the battery meter in the go down, but the lights done dim at all! With this battery you don't even need a capacitor, because it pretty much has it built in. This battery discharges much faster than a regular stock battery. My lights don't even dim in my car, not even a little bit after I put this battery in. This was exactly what I was looking for, for the power demands in my car. I think it is a little pricy, but well worth for those who need some good power in their vehicle. Very much recommended. You may also want to upgrade your alternator as well to keep both batteries charged up. I have a high output alternator in my car.

Koolatron P95 Travel Saver Cooler 45-Quart, Light Grey

Koolatron P95 Travel Saver Cooler 45-Quart, Light GreyI was looking for a fridge/cooler for me when I travel and camp. I typically go for 2-7 night stays camping in very remote places. In the summer, ice does not last and its a pain. My review on this product has some mixed feelings about it.

Here are the pros:

Price, its pretty affordable for what you get.

Size, has plenty of room to stock for a 2-3 overnight trip.

Coldness, I keep cheese, milk, meat and many other items in this cooler and it stays cool without a problem.

Drain on battery, in keeping food cold you can expect it to have a fairly heavy draw of amps to your battery. I use a deep cell so it lasts much longer. I also use a solar panel that is rated for 15 amps charging. So this lasts me the entire 3 days of camping without having to charge my battery.

Weight, its fairly light weight.

Storage, there is plenty of room. After purchasing I found the company made one size larger and only charged $20 additional for it. I would have purchased it knowing. This one is rated for 72 12oz beverages. The bigger one holds 78. Not much difference, but it would make the difference to me of one extra nights stay.

Here is my negative report on the product:

There is no thermostat. So the unit runs non stop on electric or battery. Which means if you are on battery, it will continue to run and use amps, draining your battery. While on 110, it continues to run as well.

Insullation could be just a little bit better. This way the unit would stay colder, keeping food colder.

Report on company that sold it:

Pros; they shipped me the product in original package. No problems. Product was just as stated and worked fine.

Cons; be careful about shipping and understand it clearly. When they say usually ships within 2 business days, means you might not get the product for 2 weeks. I purchased it on a Sat night. They shipped it at the last pick up time from them on Tuesday night. So the product sat all night Tuesday and did not get shipped until Wed. The standard shipping took 10 days. So all together 10 days + 2 business days + 1 day wasted, I did not get the product in enough time for my trip I had planned. I also was a amazon prime, free 2 day shipping. Out of all the products I purchased this last year from Amazon, only 3 were prime and shipped for free. I must have purchased over 20 different items.

Overall I am really happy I purchased it. In looking at other units that are the same size, they range from $200-$1200 depending on what you get. I cant imagine adding a thermostat and some thicker insulation would cost much more to the company. I would buy another one if they made it with these additional features. Its a good product, works for me, just has a fairly heavy draw on DC power. I only run it on AC when cooling it 24 hours before a trip. This helps tremendously as the unit is empty and cooling prior to the trip. Instead of playing catch up with cold food and a warm cooler. I would highly recommend purchasing the AC that runs this unit.

Good luck!

I'm an over the road truck driver & have gone through many coolers, mostly Igloo.I've owned this Koolatron for over 5 yrs. with NO problems.I would have gone through 3 motors in the Igloos by now.The only thing going bad on mine is the seal that holds the lid on.It's starting to crack from being opened and closed 10-15 times a day getting my Cokes or sandwiches out of it.When I bought it I saved the booklet to buy another motor when this one went out.Don't need it!!!I'll buy the 56 quart next time.

We received the Koolatron in a timely manner in good condition. It has proved to be more than worth it's cost. We are in the middle of an extended trip, using it as our refrigerator in car and hotel/motel/cabins. It is working flawlessly. Quiet, smooth operating over many continuous hours using the AC converter to plug in 110 outlets when not in the car. You can't get a better deal in our experience.

We purchased this unit to replace a 12-year old Coleman of similar capacity that had become very noisy due to fan vibration that I couldn't fix. I like the shape of the Koolatron, it's taller, so it holds tall items upright, and it has a shelf that's handy for small items. The unit can be used upright or on its non-cord end, and the shelf functions either way. Clever. Compared to our former Coleman, the construction isn't as sturdy. I wouldn't sit on the Koolatron, but the Coleman can support the weight of an adult. The fan operates more quietly than our Coleman did when it was new. The DC plug/cable is more than long enough. We also purchased the AC adaptor (the same model ranges in price from about $27 to more than $50, so shop around.), which makes using the unit indoors possible. It's also a good idea to cool the unit down before use, which the AC adaptor facilitates. And, if it's packed with items that are already cold, its utility is much improved. If you plan to cool items down after they're placed in the unit, you'll be disappointed unless you don't mind taking a day or so to do it. The unit will cool down to about 40 degrees less than ambient, so it's possible to freeze the contents if it is left on continuously over a couple of days. One warning: tell everyone who will be using the unit that they must match up the "cool" blue dot on the attached cord with the arrow on the plug-in cord. Failure to do so will result in a heating, rather than a cooling, mode. We lost a fair amount of dairy products because of ignorance on this. A cool/heat switch would be better. Overall, this is a good, functional travel cooler.

Want Koolatron P95 Travel Saver Cooler 45-Quart, Light Grey Discount?

I ordered this item the end of May 2010. We used it once to go on a day trip and put it back away. We pulled it out of the box in July and took it on a family vacation. On our way back home, the unit stopped working. Of course this was after the warranty expired. I contacted Koolatron about the issue to see what they recommended. They told me to check a fuse in the cord that runs to the outlet, which was not the problem. I contacted them again to ask what else I could do and they have never contacted me back. I would think this unit, for the price paid, should be more durable than to go out after one week of usage.

Schumacher BC-1606 16' 6-Gauge Orange Battery Booster Cable

Schumacher BC-1606 16' 6-Gauge Orange Battery Booster CableI bought these based on their price and description. I assumed they were a little better than junk. I was wrong. The clamps may work a few times before they self-destruct (seriously). I boxed them back up immediately after seeing how they were made to be returned. Very disappointing. Beware of the flood of cheap Chinese crap appearing now on Amazon (and everywhere else). I found a much better (and less expensive) set at the local Advance Auto Parts store (also made in China but better quality).

Go Power! GP-SF-1.5 SUNfilm 1.5 Watt Solar Panel

Go Power! GP-SF-1.5 SUNfilm 1.5 Watt Solar PanelI recently purchased this charger to keep my car battery from dying when I do not use it for a week or so. I have other Go power products and I have had good sucess with them. I unfortunately had my battery die on me when I left my car for a week without starting it. I figured this might work instead of buying a new battery. So far it has worked. I plug it into my cigarette lighter and put it on the dash whenever I am going to leave the car for more than a day. I have tried it after a week of not running the car and the car still started. I would recommend this product.

Its OK, does not work unless your battery is completely charged and good. will not charge a low battery, which is what i needed, but will work to keep my mower/tractor charged during the winter months without using an extension cord.

Buy Go Power! GP-SF-1.5 SUNfilm 1.5 Watt Solar Panel Now

Oh boy... Let me tell you my story:

I don't drive my car much so I figure these things would keep my battery in good shape.

I bought two of these, figure if it works, I'll give one to my friend.

My battery on my car still works fine, just low since I don't drive it much.

I installed the device, 2~3 days later, when I try to start my car, it won't stop at all and no power to the car whatsoever, if I didn't install this thing, my car would still start, this thing not only didn't charge my battery, it did the opposite and drained my battery at a faster rate than it's natural 1% per day drain.

You thought maybe the product is DOA? Well, I installed the 2nd one since I bought two, 3 days later, still no power.

Conclusion:

This thing does not charge a 2008 Toyota Yaris, not only it doesn't charge, it also drain possibly harm your battery, I'll find out later today when my friend comes over for a jump start with a jumper cable, if it still doesn't start, then this product killed my battery when my battery was fine before I installed this, I really hope this thing didn't kill my battery.

Since my car is a pretty typical common economical car, if it doesn't work for my car, it wouldn't work for many cars out there, so beware. I would recommend those portable jump starter device, those are similar to the way you use a jumper cable and jump start with another car, except it has a battery to it so you don't need another car to do it.

When connected to my 5310, it recognizes it as being connected to a computer, which locks the screen. The gps isnt usable when connected. Not only this but the wall charger keeps getting caught in the socket, and makes some sparks when being plugged. It also makes an annoying humming noise, Im not sure if its electricity, or a fan in the charger itself but its very troubling. Even though it was cheap, and I took a gamble on buying it, I would like the things I purchase that say they work with my gps, to actually work with it.

I spent $25 on a universal GPS car charger at Radioshack a year ago, and it gave me nothing but problems in that time. So far, this charger worked right off the bat and aside from the cord being a little short, it is great.

I am completely satisfied with this product! The price was right and I really like the option of being able to charge the GPS at home instead of always in the vehicle. I would definitely buy this again if the need arises!

Cobra CPI-A4000BC 4-AWG Heavy-Duty AC Power Inverter Cable Kit

Cobra CPI-A4000BC 4-AWG Heavy-Duty AC Power Inverter Cable KitIf Monster cable could only see the copper inside this jacket. Normally when you cut a piece of heavy cable in the center and strip back the insulation you see nice shiny copper. Granted the ends may be oxidized a bit but they are open to the air I cut this at the halfway point to make 2 shorter cable sets or 4 equal cable pieces. This cable, while being nice and flexible, looked like an old penny inside heavily oxidized and ugly as sin. I suspect its reclaimed copper 2 times over without proper slag removal. That's the only reason I took away one star.

Also the crimp lugs supplied leave a tad to be desired, but they include some properly sized red and black heatshrink. You are supposed to put the stripped cable into the lugs then fold each half over the other with "electricians pliers" My professional crimper was able to fold them but not close them tight on the wire, so out came the persuader a 16 oz claw hammer and some cement. Yep that closed the crimp nice and snug on the wire. Now it has a good snug grip. I did buy some professional #4 lugs at the hardware store made of copper like a shiny penny and my professional crimper did those justice, so their lugs are a tad sub par but you can put them on with just about anything. Alternately I could have hit it with a propane torch and fed some solder to it, which I may still do if there is excessive loss in the cable. I prefer soldered connections wherever possible.

I also bought some nice bolt on attachments at the hardware store for $2/pr that have a bar which snugs down with 2 ea 7/16 bolts and nuts on the back side. Now that was a solid connection I drove the bolts home with my dewalt 3/8" impact driver and a 7/16 socket which grabbed the wire and would not let go, then gave me a big ring to tie to that did not look like someone pounded a crimp lug with a hammer on cement to make it grab!

I realize copper is expensive these days but this stuff was recycled 2 or 3 times over. New copper wire shouldn't look like a 1960's penny under the couch. It sure makes monster cable's oxygen free copper look bright and shiny by comparison. On the other hand, I did especially like the fact that the insulation is color coded properly, red and black. I have seen high current wiring kits where the wire's insulation is entirely black, entirely white, or some other way of not coding the positive and negative by insulation color. Even the space shuttle wiring is ENTIRELY white no matter what purpose it serves. The only identification each white wire gets is a black wrapper with a 4 or 5 digit number that is referenced in the schematics. Nasa's wire is also silver plated copper and thus carries the same current of cruddy copper wire 1 size larger with the same loss and less weight at 10x the price.

Other than the cruddy copper it's a good value you're getting 20 feet of #4 cable with precrimped lugs on one end and trimmable to length on the other end with a set of lugs you can pound onto the wire. It certainly has the heft of 20 feet of #4 too this shipped at over 5 lbs, most of which was the 2 pieces of #4 cable. It ran my inverter just fine so no harm.

You also get a green ground wire to tie your inverter chassis to whatever ground you have, be it in a car or a ground rod in the earth. Like me you probably don't think you need a ground for a battery powered device when wwas the last time you grounded your remote control? In theory ground wires should cary no current nor any voltage, but the spinning fan on the inverter can cause static electricity. You do need to equalize any static charge buildup or leakage in capacitors, or alternately stray magnetic fields causing voltage in metalic parts. Sure these are small voltages, between 0.5 and 2.0 V but they can flip a logic state if not returned to ground and also making troubleshooting a nuisance. While not absolutely necessary, if you don't ground it be sure that somewhere from the output path of the inverter to your load you have a GFCI plug. That way if the current finds another path back to the battery or to the inverter chassis it will cut off power in a fraction of a second preventing electrocution yours, not to mention damage to the equipment.

Keep in mind that #4 wire can carry 100's of amps (approaching 1000 amps) and will do a nice job arc welding. Once you get this installed treat it with a great deal of respect. Don't be shocked (no pun intended) when you make the final connection if there is a SMALL arc emphasis on SMALL the reason is that there are capacitors in the inverters that help to smooth out the current flow and they charge instantly when power is applied. When finished, disconnect from the battery. Use some extra caution when using tools like crecent wrenches around deep cycle batteries = don't bridge to the other terminal. I had an electrician drop a crescent wrench inside a pac bell phone central office onto the -48VDC buss bars that powered the building's phone switch. It didn't even blow the fuse just vaporized the wrench into sputter. We crawled down to the buss bars and there was nothing even resembling a wrench where it made contact with the -48VDC bars. This product box even has a warning that if you are not familiar with high current wiring have someone who is do it.

Good quality cables, I purchased them for the cobra 1500 watt DC power inverter. the cables where a bit long for what I needed them for but I could always use the rest for other projects. They don't come with the 30 amp fuse though as suggested in the instructions. You don't really need the high amp fuse unless your using the DC power inverter and cables for an appliance that draws massive amps like an air conditioner or large home appliance in that case you should use a high amp fuse or your cables and power inverter may over heat and catching fire. I use my Cobra DC power inverter for my 1000 watt coffee pot and power tools like a drill and saw when I'm repairing or building a board fence in the pasture. The Cobra 1500 watt power inverter and cables work well for my needs, plenty of amps without heating up. I have a diesel 2500 Ram pick up and realized that the the engine compartment was limited on space to install the power inverter. If you have this problem you could do what I did, I cut a 2x6 board in the length of the passenger side battery and cut a groove in the middle of the board to run the batteries mounting screw though, it held the board tightly in place. I than bolted the power inverter to the board. Note: you have to mount the inverter to the board before you install it. So the inverter sits bolted to the side of the battery on a board facing up. The shorter you make the power cable the better your power inverter will perform. I used less than a foot of cable and I don't see it interfering with the battery in anyway. It works for me.

These are copper coated aluminum wires. Not copper wire. They are less conductive than copper wire of the same gauge. I found out when i have to trim the cable to discover the shiny silver cores inside. Disappointed, another company that is cheating with coated wires.

Want Cobra CPI-A4000BC 4-AWG Heavy-Duty AC Power Inverter Cable Kit Discount?

After reading the other reviews, I still decided to purchase this item. The cost of copper is quite high so I understand them wanting to reuse old material. The package includes two 4 AWG cables and, they claim one 8 AWG ground wire. While the 4 AWG power cables are close to that size, the ground wire does not even come close. The only thing 8 AWG about that cable is the insulation. The wire inside is, at best, a #12. I contacted Cobra to ask for a replacement for the ground wire, but they never replied.

Would I buy it again, Yes but only because a high quality kit would cost at least $75.00.

Whistler DE-1793 Radar/Laser Detector with Digital Compass and Memo Voice Recorder

Whistler DE-1793 Radar/Laser Detector with Digital Compass and Memo Voice Recorder
  • Equipped with POP radar detection
  • Includes Real Voice alert to free your eyes for the road
  • Provides 360-degree protection
  • Socket multiplier turns your cigarette lighter into multiple power outlets
  • Includes digital compass and 90-second memo voice recorder

This radar is fine for a $99 price. My only complaint is that it does go off alot becuase of other peoples radar, more so than I had expected. Its probably already saved me a couple tickets though so its paid for itself. Like I said, for $99 its a good deal....

Update, 1/13/08...Ihave used this radar detector quite a bit now...seems to work well..goes off well in advance of a cops radar...of course the laser works to but its too late once you get hit with that...it does go off if someone else has radar detector.cant remember if y last one did this often or not...like I originally said, for $99 it is a solid performer..

AS for the review below me from "Jerry"...WTF, is he paid by Amazon or Whistler??? Imean how generic and five stars.....

This radar detector is huge. It is very loud too. It has good range on radar detection. However, it doesn't matter what radar detector you have, if a cop points a laser at you are toast, because it is a laser, not radar, meaning that it will only detect the laser when it is being pointed directly at you. I bought this detector for my gadget lovin' fiancee. I have a whistler that is a couple years old that works just fine. It has saved me from a few tickets. I would probably buy my old one, over this one any day. Also, the packaging it came in, had been opened before and taped back shut. So, I am thinking someone thought the same thing and returned it!
