To give this review some perspective, my tech savvy is about a 7.5 on a 10 point scale and this is the second dash cam I have used; the first was a Vacron Black Box CDR E-22, which I returned to Amazon (see my review) due to audio problems. I bought the LK 7900 on e bay for two hundred seventy one dollars, free shipping, and it included a power cord, 32gb SD card, GPS, a hookup for using the unit with the motor off (LK 290-12/24VT Auto DC Power Cut Off), a mounting bracket, wire guides and a manual.

3 stars for the manual. The ad said English manual, English firmware, English Viewer. The box contained a manual in Korean. Vendor said I need to go to lukashd.com and download and print the manual. Not good, but I did it. It reads as if it was translated from Korean to English by an app, and is in a very small font. Syntax and nuance are all screwed up and in many places it made no sense at all. The camera had Korean in its firmware, and the viewer was in Korean. Long, frustrating story short the manual, firmware and viewer were convertible to English (of sorts.) While I did not ask for it, the vendor (Green Sum)gave me a five dollar credit on my PayPal account for this.

5 stars for video. Using their SD (class unknown/undisclosed) and the default settings (except for time, which I changed to UTC-5 with daylight savings time on the US east coast), daytime video was excellent. License plates, road signs, advertisements, and inane bumper stickers were clearly readable. Night video was evaluated in a rural and suburban environment (none to very little public lighting) and was good; I could read the license plate of the car in front of me, and roadside signs. Using my SanDisk 32 gb class 10 Ultra, I plan to tweak the settings (using the viewer) to see if I can improve video quality. If I have a significant improvement, I will add it to this review.

5 stars for audio. Clear recording and playback. The mic is quite sensitive and will pick up road and wind noises if you leave the window open. It also picked up the noise of my engine running, however, that could be because I have a diesel engine. Overall, this clutter was partly avoidable (wind up the window), and not intrusive.

4 stars for viewer software. Easy to install in PC and use, but not explained very well. No way that I can see to change trip mileage from kilometers to miles. Video and Audio are also great on Win 7 version of Media Player. Replay using Lukas viewer or Win Media player on Win XP Pro does not work on my desktop PC, but this may be because I have an AMD 64 (Clawhammer) processor in this 8 year old homebuilt. Literature says it should work, but ...

Does not have a built in real time or in-camera playback viewer, like the Vacron and others. To me this is not a con. On-site replay can be done, if needed, via a tablet, using a card reader, and the screen would be much larger.

What got me interested in this specific device are the ISO certifications for the company, and the Sony chip. I took a chance buying it the way I did. I wish I could have bought it "Amazon Fulfilled" even if it cost me a few bucks more. So far, it is working out, but only time will tell.

No noticeable improvement using my 32 gb class 10 SanDisk SD, day or night, after increasing camera settings. This device (Lukas 7900) is supposed to be able to use up to a 128 gb SD.

Good quality video and specs for high temperature operation were my primary reasons for choosing the Lukas LK-7900 HD ACE. This camera is spec'd to run at 80C (176 F). Another big plus is it uses standard lens filters. It ships with a UV filter which is mostly for protecting the primary lens. The package I bought included a 32 GB SD memory card and a polarizing filter.

The polarizing filter (CPF Circular Polarizing Filter) is really an improvement in the blazing Phoenix AZ sun. It is like sun glasses for the camera. But, to "set" the filter, you have to rotate the front part of the filter until the glare and reflections are removed. I tried moving the filter, record the results, display on the computer and repeat. It was time consuming and ultimately unsuccessful. The quick fix is a small LCD display and video cable to adjust the filter in real time.

No video cable is included. You need a 3.5mm Mono Plug to RCA Plug Patch Cable which is widely available. My local Radio Shack had some on the shelf. Also need a small display screen. Amazon sells a low cost screen at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006MPRFJQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The screen comes with a power cord with stripped ends. I soldered on a cigarette lighter power plug and it works perfectly. Note this display needs a video input before anything is displayed. So, with a real time display, I was able to set the polarizing filter in seconds. It is best to change to the UV filter at night. I'll only do that on road trips. Night time video is OK with the polarizing filter. Changing filters will be easy with the LCD display to reset the polarizing filter.

Interestingly, my camera was shipped by DHL. When I looked at the tracking details, it shipped from South Korea. The manual and audio language were in Korean. After finding the English manual online, changing the camera to English was easy.

The plastic mounting bracket comes with some 3M gel adhesive pads that are super sticky. There were three sets of brackets and adhesive pads in my kit.

This car charger is seemingly functional in all the right ways. It is indeed compact. There is a convenient little red led to let you know that the charger has power. I was able to plug in two cell phones and they charged, just as expected.

However.... I have doubts about how long this charger will last. It is rather flimsy. I felt like it might break the first time I pulled it back out of my car's outlet. What really did bother me was that the adjustable swivel is very weak. Don't expect this charger to stay in the position you set it to. Because of this, the charger does not stay out of the way of my cup holder, which is the reason I wanted the adjustable swivel in the first place.

Very good price, but you certainly get what you pay for.

This is exactly what I was looking for! The sleek black design matches my iPhone 4 perfectly. The charger does charge as advertised but I was a little disappointed with the performance. I have used many LiPo chargers and got the feeling it should be a little quicker. I put my amp meter on the charge line and found that even thought its rated at 1 Amp (the recommended current to charge a stock AR.Drone battery) it was a little shy and sometimes dips quite low at about 700mA during the charging process. In the end it does charge as advertised but not the fastest.

That being said I use one of these and found it charges in under an hour, worth a consideration ... note this charger comes with battery clips so you can open the hood of your car and charge from your car battery on location:

This plug adapter worked well and served it's purpose to allow me to use my US electronics while vacationing in Sydney. Be aware though, that it will not convert the voltage. You must check your electronics to be sure they will convert 120V/240V. Most newer laptops, cameras, and phone chargers will do this for you; therefore, this adapter will work great with those to simply be able to plug them in the wall.

Be aware that electronics like hair dryers and curling irons will need a different adapter that will convert voltage from 240V (Asia) to 120V (USA).

I used this to connect my laptop to Austrilian plugs during my few trips there. Every time it worked great with good grip. I have no complaints. And it is cheaper than rivals.

This battery replaces the same battery purchased back in 2001. Nine years of trouble free abuse isn't too bad. Often would leave the bike for six months or more without riding. Anyway if your a rider that may get a bit too busy to ride for periods of time. Leave your bike unattended this is the battery for you.

As the other review stated that the Odyssey died after a few months, yes just like it says it will in the manual if your bike has too small of an alternator and you ride short trips at low speeds! This is a different AGM battery that will get a very long service life IF you get an approved charger that charges and floats at different levels than all other batteries. These batteries give extreme cranking amp plus the ability to deep cycle which few batteries can do. My HD starts right up now since I have a high torque starter. I purchased this for the Cold Cranking Amps to power my big bore Harley. I had it for 3 months before it died, then replaced it with the same model battery and it also lasted 3 months. Its a great box. Sturdy with a well fitting lid. Amazon says 10.9 inches tall, the box is only 9 inches tall and the lid is the next 1.9 inches. my battery is 10 inches tall not including the terminals therefore the lid does not sit down like designed. So nothing against the box, I just know to order a taller one next time.

Schumacher SC-8000A Speedcharge Charger/Maintainer

The meter accuracy on the SC-800A was within 0.05 volts, and the charging algorithms appear to work well, although they are not described in the instructions.

I observed that the voltage was generally limited to 15.5 for regular, 16.0 for deep cycle, and 14.7 for AGM batteries. The 30 amp capability is in the form of a long timed pulse of about 2 minutes followed by 12 amps for a similar time period, then repeating until the voltage has risen enough that it isn't required. The amperage isn't constant, it tapers down to limit the voltage in typical CC/CV fashion, although the algorithm appears to actually be more complex. For instance, on a particular AGM battery it went to 15.5 volts near the end of the charge (95%) with current at about 1.5 amps for about 30 minutes and then stopped (completed). I suspect that this was an automatic attempt to condition the battery. A DieHard 71227 charger (Schumacher makes the DieHard 71227 charger) did the same thing. After three discharge cycles, it stoped doing the "high-voltage treatment". Also, in AGM mode it went to 15.5 volts briefly during one of the 40 amp cycles. BatteryMINDer Charger/Maintainer/Desulfater - 12V, Model# 2012

I have a Corvette and live in snow country. That means putting the car away for the winter. Fortunately, I have a place to store the car. The down side is it isn't heated. Batteries will freeze if they are allowed to discharge. To prevent that, I need to either drive the Corvette regularly, bring the battery inside, or put it on a charger.

I started my career in electronics designing battery charging systems for hand held devices. I found that the "Ideal" charger is complicated: different features are needed to quickly charge a battery versus maintain it over the winter. Until recently, you needed a different charger for quick recovery versus long term storage. While not the end-all product, this charger is a great, full featured device that incorporates more of the ideal charger features.

Battery chargers come in many types: Bulk Chargers, trickle chargers, and smart chargers like BatteryMINDer.

Bulk chargers are designed to quickly recover from a "dead" battery. They tend to have little sophistication, just pouring out lots of energy quickly. This is fine for bringing up a partially discharged battery and getting the car started quickly. But such brutes may overcharge the battery if left on for extended periods. And, they may not have temperature compensation. The bottom line, they may ruin a battery if left connected for extended periods like the four months I need to store my car.

Trickle chargers try to tackle the storage problem. Prior generations of these chargers just used a low-current charger with a maximum voltage output. These "weak" chargers simply don't have the power to quickly recharge a battery, but are reasonable at keeping one "full" under some conditions. They are cheap and somewhat effective.

Neither of these "Dumb" chargers deal with significant details of maintaining a battery's charge. The voltage of a fully charged battery varies with temperature about 12.5mv per degree. That doesn't sound like much, but over the 100 degree temperature variation that is possible with the car in storage, this is 1.25 volts a significant voltage difference. If the charger's set point is too low, the battery will discharge; if too high, the battery will get too much energy and will over-heat. Such heat kills batteries by boiling off the water in the battery fluid.

Battery manufactures publish the "ideal" charge profiles for their products. Here is a typical charge profile: [ Google "lead acid battery charge profile"] This charging profile has four phases: bulk charge, absorption charge, float charge, and testing.

The "Smart Chargers" such as BatteryMINDer, solve these problem with with a micro-controller. They sense the state of charge in the battery, the outside temperature, and adjust charging accordingly. The BatteryMINDer provides all of the charge phases listed above, and adds two more: a Qualification phase and a desulfidization phase.

Qualification / Soft Start Phase this is to test for a very dead battery The charger is current limited, in this case to just 1/2 Amp. It uses this phase to check for reversed connection of the battery leads, damaged batteries, etc. For a salvagable battery, this phase slowly brings the battery up to a voltage level where it can be charged more quickly without generating excessive, damaging heat.

Bulk Charge/Fast Charge Here the unit puts out maximum current. The BatteryMINDer puts out 2A. This is far less than typical Bulk Chargers (up to 25 A), but will recharge a typical car battery in about 12 hours. This slower rate makes this charger a poor choice for the quick-fix where you find that you had left your lights on overnight and are late for work. Massive bulk chargers are a better choice here, but are more stressful on the battery.

Float Charge This mode is where the magic happens in these smart chargers. The Float Mode provides a temperature compensated trickle charge to the battery. It senses the ambient air temperature or with a low cost accessory the temperature at the battery to adjust the trickle voltage and current to the environment. Unlike simple trickle chargers, this mode pulses current on/off to achieve a complete charge. The tender stays in this mode for about 15-60 minutes, depending upon the brand.

Battery Test This mode turns off the charge entirely for a few minutes and then looks at the voltage over time. It is natural for the voltage to drop slightly. Excessively rapid drops indicate internal issues with the battery. The BatteryMINDer provides an LED indication for a damaged battery. For a normal battery, the rate of voltage drop is fed back into the Float Charge mode to adjust the on/off time of the current pulse to assure that the battery gets only the charge it needs.

The combination of temperature controlled float and battery testing makes this the perfect system for long term storage.

I ended up buying a cigarette adapter for the system about $6 more. This saves me the hassle of popping the hood. I just plug the adapter into the cigarette lighter adapter and plug in the BatteryMINDer. (Note: This only works on cars where the accessory/lighter socket is ON when the car is off. GM cars work this way).

I have reviewed the datasheets and found this the "Ideal" charger for me. (I still have a bulk/starter charger for the lights-left-on, gotta-get-to-work situation).

I will know next spring how well this worked, but I am confident.

I had a battery so dead this smart charger wouldn't recognize it was connected. I used a "dumb" trickle charger on the dead battery overnight—the battery still wouldn't hold a charge but that gave it enough juice to hook up the BatteryMINDer. The BatteryMINDer ran its "Desulfater" program for two days after which I gave it a go—started my V6 on the first turn.

I'm interested to observe how much life I get from this battery now.

The final straw came on the last vehicle I repaired; a F250 diesel with two batteries that were only 9 months old, but would not charge sufficiently to start the truck. Faced with spending $200 to replace the batteries I began researching other options. This is a great product. I don't know how it works, but it does. It both charges and desulfates the battery, or in my case the two batteries connected in parallel. I have 4 other BatteryMinder products, but I think this is probably the most capable of the ones I have.

I got to say they fit perfectly, and the color is almost spot on. There was a little bulging in places, but after being in the car for a few days, they relaxed out, and now fit perfect. I have an off-road trailer that I use for research. I purchased the APS750 and coupled it with a 105 AH AGM battery in the nose box of the trailer. Away from mains power, it provides excellent run time for several laptops and communications equipment. I keep the battery charged with solar panels off-road and take advantage of the 20A charging capacity of the APS750 when mains power is available. It's a 750W sine wave inverter, transfer switch, and battery charger in a rugged package perfect for my needs. I highly recommend the APS750 for mobile applications where high quality and reliable power is important. I can see where it might make a good emergency power system too.

[Edit Sept. 21, 2011: In my original review I stated that the Tripp Lite APS750 was a pure sine wave inverter. I removed that statement from my review as I learned through investigation that the output is pure sine wave when running on mains power (as expected) and PWM (pulse width modulated) sine wave when running on battery. PWM sine wave should not be confused with the fixed square wave output of cheaper inverters. PWM provides tight voltage regulation (+/5%) and eliminates harmonic noise the static hum you might hear with sensitive equipment if run on a cheaper square wave inverter. PWM sine wave is suitable for sensitive electronic equipment and motors. Anyway, I've been running sensitive radio communications equipment and computers on my APS750 with no problems.]

I use this as a backup power source for my pellet stove. If the power goes out when the stove is on, you get a smoky mess since it relies on a fan for combustion and exhaust. I chose to go the APC route instead of the stove-branded unit I feel more comfortable with a company that knows this business well. I could not be happier with it fast switching, charges the battery fast after the outage too. Ultimately simple as well the switch is either off, or automatic or charge-only. Set it and forget it!

Here in South Florida, we have what would be described as unpredictable weather... which leads to unpredictable power ;-). Since I work at home on the computer, I need to be able to work through our unexpected power outtages which can last several hours at a time. My UPS just wouldn't cut it for power outtages lasting more than an hour or so.

Enter the king of UPS's, the APS 750! I bought a marine battery at Walmart for under $70 and connected it to the unit. Just the one battery gives me about 5 to 6 hours of run-time for both my desktop and my LCD monitor. If I need more run-time, I can simply connect more batteries in parallel.

Like a regular UPS, the unit charges when it has power, and switches to battery during a surge or blackout. Though the transfer time is a bit higher than a typical UPS, it doesn't seem to matter.

I brought one of these down to Costa Rica to deal with the unexpected power outages that happen on a semi regular basis. I hooked it up to two 100 amp hour deep cycle batteries. This will run my lights, electronics, wifi, computer, and short use of tools for a day or more (maybe much longer/ never tested). I separate & leave equipment with higher energy draws (like the refrig, pumps, washer, dryer, air conditioner) off the same power out electrical line. When set to operate automatically, this inverter takes over and supplies the 120 volts of electricity from the batteries via inverter when your grid electricity goes off. This unit will also regulate the grid voltage when voltage drops low or spikes high. The batteries are automatically recharged when the grid electricity comes back on. Great product for good competitive price. In my opinion: This is the BEST DEAL on the market. I believe Tripp Lite knows what they are doing when I study their full line of products. I see they also make auto power supplies for medical use. 2012 Update: My Tripp Lite APS has been working flawlessly for 4 years in Costa Rica's humid beach climate. Another Plus: Any electric powered burglar deterrent hooked up to this system will work 24/7 including when the grid is off line.

This product is truley genius. 750 watts of RMS power at demand. Instant switching at selectable voltage drops. The Tripplite APS 750 is set to run off of my 825amp marine battery when it detects a voltage drop below 95 volts. When this occurs It switches from AC pass through power to a 20 second minimum run off of the battery.

If after 20 seconds the line power is still below the adustable threshold trigger, the unit will continue to run off of the DC battery. When the line power is back and stable, the unit resumes AC in-out pass through "while also charging the marine battery at a 20amp rate" to have it fully recharged for the next AC outtage.

If you're experiencing a bad lightning storm and power is flickering, or you are going through brown-out conditions, this device will switch over the instant the voltage drop is detected and will run off of the battery power for a minimum of 20seconds. ( So there is NO rapid switching of source power.)

I use the Tripplite APS 750 to run the main life support pumps on my saltwater tank. " Four punps at a total of 120 watts." My pumps were geting damaged from the rapid switching of AC power causing one of them to malfunction and hence me having to come home to saltwater on the floor.

(Not a problem anymore!) The Tripplite APS 750 says what it does and does what it says. It may only switch to battery power for 20 seconds once in a year, but I know my floors are dry now and the critical systems on the tank are 24/7/365.

By the way, at 120 watts of draw the 825amp marine battery would last over eight hours before it exhausted its usable amp load. If you need more battery run time you can cascade muliple batteries. The Tripplite has no problem with multiple DC sources. Just follw thier insructions.

I purchased this just under a month ago and have been extremely happy with it. A few points:

1. I didn't want to mount it to my windshield or permanently to my dash. I bought a weighted GPS Dash pad and have it sitting on my dash. It's comfortably within reach and hasn't budged.

2. I highly recommend a homescreen replacement that allows for landscape orientation. I use HelixLauncher so I can access all the functions easily.

3. The dock has speakers built in. This is great for amplifying calls but you'll probably want to use a 3.5 plug to pipe music into your speaker. Under settings-dock, make sure you select the option to use the dock for calls, but not audio.

4. Get in the habit of adding the address to your calendar events. Once you get into the car you can just tap into your calendar and navigate to the location.

This is a great item, and considering the battery life on the N1 I consider it to be a necessity.

If you use the Nexus One as a GPS device, this car dock is a must have. The speakers on the dock are great. Music and Navigation sounds really good on it.

One of the review says that this obstructs view and is unsafe. I have a few comments about that. First of all, you select where to mount the dock, so if it obstructs your view, then you should really pick another spot to mount it. Also, all GPS devices are unsafe if you are playing with it while driving. You're suppose to set it before driving your car and the GPS will give you direction as you are driving. It's really not a good idea to be playing with the GPS when the car is moving. That is almost as bad as texting while driving.

I haven't used this in a long time, but this was a really great product. It fit my Nexus One well, I used it when traveling and it was easy to route the cables.

OK, this car dock is fantastic, I use every day with my phone. I have built in Bluetooth in my phone so I don't actually use that particular feature, but I have tried it and it it loud enough to hear the callers on the other line. The fit and finish is exceptional, and it even fits my phone with the invisible shield that I have on the phone. As I mentioned in the title, I with that it would tilt a bit more, so that the base would be out of my view when attached to the windshield. Literally 2 degrees more would do it.

These provide good protection, though not nearly as good as the front set. The fit leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. It is a two piece set, and I can't seem to get them to sit right no matter what I do. I am not wild about the way that the piece that provides protection for the middle set just kinda flops on top of the other piece. It gets kicked around a lot and though it doesn't move much, it's still really annoying and doesn't provide the best protection. They seem a little too short and don't extend nearly far enough under the seats... and for a vehicle with such little legroom in the middle seat, this is a drawback. I think that these things could easily be improved. They are a nice set of mats, but for the price, I expected a lot more. They don't provide much more protection (if at all) than any other full length floor mat.

I purchased this as most do, after a bad roadside event (flat tire). I did some research on the options and it appears the technological innovation went from traditional "fire" flares to orange reflective triangles, to the FlareAlert LED Emergency Beacon. I found this product sold by police supply companies as well, which gave me confidence. I also consulted with an EMT and he thought this to be the best option for consumers.

The construction is very strong. I can see it holding true to being crush-proof to 20,000 lbs. The LED is very bright and visible with a steady-on or blinking pattern. Probably the best aspect is that the base is also magnetic. Not only does this allow for clever mounting while storing in your trunk, but it allows for flexibility if ever in a jam (i.e. mounting to the side of your car). For about $12 each plus batteries, I have one in each vehicle. I would recommend spending a little extra on batteries (Lithium AA) so you never run into an issue with powering it.
