Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio (Sirius Satellite Radio / AM / FM )

Tivoli Model Satellite Table RadioI love Sirius in my car for its niche channels like jazz, Folk Town and Bluegrass so I bought the Tivoli table model. On the positive side the sound is GREAT -right up there with Bose, but the design leaves some things to be desired. 1. It won't work without external antennas for AM, FM or Sirius. 2. It does not have an internal power supply. 3. To get stereo or CD you have to buy additional boxes. 4. You really do have to have a clear view of the sky where the satelite is located. Trees and buildings block the signal. 5. You might as well order the third party signal booster and antenna extension because it only comes with a 30 foot cable to the antenna which will probably not get it to your roof. 6. There is not an easy way to feed additional stereo equipment to take advantage of a home sound system. 7. There is no way to cut off the big blue info screen which is really BIG and Blue. When installed this thing has as many wires and connections as a lobbyist in Washington. But if you can put up with the clunky design it is wonderful.

I have no doubt that one reason for the slow adoption of Satellite Radio by consumers is the lousy hardware. I mean, what are they thinking? The collection of products for both Sirius and XM looks like the over-designed, comic book props in Star Wars movies. They're totally dysfunctional. Nothing as elegant as an iPod, with the possible exception of Pioneer's portable radios for XM. Even the car radio's are clunky.

The Tivoli Model Satellite is the one exception to the ugly, under-performing Satellite Radio rule. The sound is about as good as it gets. Indeed, almost too good since it really points up the excessive compression used by both satellite and commercial FM broadcasters. You won't notice this difference until you play an uncompressed CD or MP3 file from your iPod through the AUX port on the Tivoli. Wow! What an amazing sound out of such small speakers. And I don't even have the subwoofer speaker accessory.

The Sirius section works great. It's easy to program. It's got a great "Memo" feature to capture the name and artist of 20 songs you'd like to look up later.

I did invest in a serious outdoor Sirius Antenna prior to the arrival of the Tivoli, so it was just a matter of plugging it in. The FM and AM sections worked fine without any external antennas. It's impressive that they include a serious external AM antenna something I haven't seen packaged with table radios since the 1970s, and then only expensive "audiophile" models.

As noted by others, the Satellite and AM/FM functions aren't at all integrated. This is basically the Tivoli Model 1 with a Satellite function tacked on as an afterthought.

The huge, bright, multi-line display is awesome at providing all of the information you want at a glance, with a minimal amount of annoying left-to-right scrolling. While the display does automatically adjust to ambient light (a feature that can be turned off and on) it may be too bright for the bedside table for some people.

The Tivoli Model Satellite is to radio what a beautiful 52" flat panel plasma display is to HDTV. It's the best audio you can get for satellite, possibly short of a console deck connected to studio monitors. But, again, given the various compression artifacts on Satellite radio (and the compression is often horrible on talk-only channels) this may be about as good as you dare get.

Unless you have space limitations, it's kind of a waste to spend so much money on a radio only to have mono sound, so plan on buying the (right channel) speaker for stereo.

I have no problem that they didn't include a CD player. An integrated mechanical device would only shorten the useful life of the unit. As just a radio it should last 10-20 years if you're trying to justify the high price tag.

Will Sirius be around in 10-20 years? I don't know. We also hear talk of HD radio coming to AM/FM (but then we've heard about HDTV for 20 years too and it's still not here).

At this price point, it would have been nice if there's been a time-shift feature, sort of a digital VCR (DVR) feature to record shows you want to hear later.

The remote is pretty awful for such an expensive radio, it's just a cheap "membrane" type remote. Inexplicably I got a real remote with my Kenwood Sirius car radio (what good a remote does in the car is beyond me).

Let's hope with the merger of the two satellite services they make more of an effort to create better looking, more functional hardware AND clean up their sound quality. I'd rather they have half as many channels with better sound and produce better programs that are re-run several times a day.

I was initially quite skeptical about satellite radio. Then, I saw the Tivoli in an advertisement and decided to take a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised with the radio and the Sirius satellite service. I've brought the radio to my office and can enjoy commercial free music throughout the work day. The sound from this small, mono radio is remarkably clear and powerful. This includes both high and low range sounds. The remote control is compact and easy to use; actually, I prefer the remote, since the buttons on the radio are small. You can store 20 of your favorite satellite stations for easy access. Even FM stations sound great, but I rarely listen since the satellite stations are much better. The Sirius lineup is excellent, and it truly is commercial free music. (News and Talk stations have brief commercial breaks.) Overall, I definitely recommend the Tivoli satellite radio (and Sirius satellite radio).

This is a gorgeous little radio but... there is no way to adjust the tone. I feel the sound is WAY too bass-y. The power source is cumbersome and impossible to hide out of site. I just hate all of those ugly wires. The control buttons are hard to read unless you have good light and put your nose right up to it. There is really no satellite equipment that is asthetically pleasing right now so I guess this is the best one out there if this is important to you.

My Nightstand was a mess!Until I bought this! I originally had a sirius reciever, a huge radio from cambridge soundworks all on one tiny nightstand. It was so cluttered. That I knew it was time to get some kind of an "All in One" device.

I laid eyes on this Tivoli, and I was hooked. I just got it Today, and It sounds incredible. I know there is an extra speaker/subwoofer available for this unit, but the built in speaker is enough to fill my entire bedroom w/ great sound.

The built in FM Tuner has INCREDIBLE reception, haven't tested the AM yet, but I'm sure that it'll will be just as good. I also have my iPod hooked up through the Auxillary input on the back.

And It takes up Hardly any space on my nightstand!

Overall, I'd highly recommend this system for anyone that want's all of there music sources in one compact device, that produces incredible sound.

Only gripe I have w/ the Radio is that the Remote doesn't have a volume control on it (but it does have a mute button).

Go with this Radio, and you won't be disappointed! Now we just need Sirius to come out w/ a fully portable walkman type unit and we'll be all set!

Battery-Disconnect Switch - Will Fit Both Side Post and Top Post

Battery-Disconnect Switch - Will Fit Both Side Post and Top PostInexpensive but well-made, this Disconnect Switch is simple to install in a couple of minutes. We put one on my wife's minivan to secure it after an attempted break-in and it works great! Unscrew the knob about one turn and, while a small amount of current through the fused jumper maintains radio and other memory functions, high-current functions like the starter are totally disabled.

Unscrew the knob completely out of the switch and take it with you for maximum security and as a reminder you have disabled the system. My wife has already blown two fuses, forgetting she had disconnected the battery. It works as advertised: but with the switch open, turn the key, the fuse blows, everything goes dead, and you spend the next ten minutes re-programming the radio. Popping a fuse doesn't hurt anything, but volatile memory will disappear. You can still tighten the knob, closing the switch and start the engine, so it's only a convenience and not a safety issue.

If you buy one of these switches, lay in a good stock of 15A mini fuses too . . . you will blow several before you learn the new starting drill!

My wife's 1981 El Camino has an electrical problem that drains the battery after a week or so and we've been unable to find the cause. This resulted in having to replace the battery every year as it'd get to the point where it wouldn't take a charge.

I ordered this bit of hardware in the hopes that it'd save the battery. It did.

Installation was easy... the adapter for side mount batteries worked fine, but I did have to spend a nice chunk of change at PepBoys for a post adapter for the other end of this switch.

The end result though is that when my wife gets home at night, she raises the hood, turns the knob and knows that the battery will be charged the next time she needs to drive the car.

If you have a car that doesn't get driven often, or has an electrical problem as I've described, I think this is a great solution for a reasonable price.

It should be simple, disconnect old cable, put this on, and reattach cable.

However, the terminal post for the cable is too small for normal battery cables. No amount of tighting the cable bolt will firm it up for a decent connection.

I've tried two different kinds of these to install on two different cars, and both have the same problem.

Now, I'm out to find some soft copper sheeting to make up for the difference.

The switch itself seems quite solid and simple to use. If you're not concerned about the memory settings maintained by the jump line [this draws current too], get a cheaper one for $11.99.

I believe the claims to fit both a side post and top post battery are very misleading and inaccurate. Since I live out in the country, I bought this thinking I could install it without additional parts. As well, the fused link defeats the purpose of a battery disconnect. When I tried to install this on a side post battery there are in sufficient parts to complete the installation. There is no way to connect the cable to the other end of the switch. To use this I had to travel to town (I live 50 miles from town) and get nuts and bolts ($2.20) to get it to work. I you install the fused link, then you still get battery drain from the on-board electronics and within a short week (at least in a GMC pickup) the battery is dead. I do NOT recommend the purchase of this switch for a side post battery.

iPhone 5 USB Cable, Car Charger 5V 1A White with AC Wall Charger Adapter for iPhone 5

iPhone 5 USB Cable, Car Charger 5V 1A White with AC Wall Charger Adapter for iPhone 5I wasted my money.....please don;t wasted yours.....The charging cable will not fit iphone 5 at all...soit's basically useless...please don't waste your money...Hope this helps others

You get what you pay for....

The car charger gets too hot when in use and the smell of burnt or burning wire permeates the air. I can't use this. I have to assume that something is seriously wrong with the car charger portion of this device. The other concern is that the other items (USB Cable, Wall Charger) might be of such inferior quality that they are going to short out my new phone.

I'm worried to use the products and at $11.55 total cost including shipping I can't afford to return it because the cost of shipping it back to China would be more than the entire purchase price.

I guess I'm stuck with a lemon.

PS~ The wire shorts out my phone when I use it. It also sparked today in an outlet at work. When others saw that I couldn't even give it away. So I threw it away.

I'm buying apple products. But no more cheap knock offs.

I originally had purchase a street wire terminal adapter and was disappointed the street wire unit was poorly made and broke when attempting to tighten it onto the batter terminal, this is a solid steal piece.

Philips Accessories DLZ92007/17 Transcast Fm Transmitter Mp3
  • TransCast FM Transmitter MP3.
  • Includes Rechargeable Battery.
  • Connection Cable & Car Charger.
  • Tiny Device Broadcasts Music Over Any Available FM Radio Frequency.
  • Simple 1 Handed Frequency Tuning & Backlight Control Via Joystick.

I had been looking for a handy and reliable FM Transmitter which doesn't need to be plugged into the Cigarette Lighter socket, since my car doesn't have a line-in for the speakers. The Philips/DLO FM transmitter works great.. have been using it for a few months, the sound quality for the 88.1Mhz frequency is excellent. Construction is plastic, so its not extremely durable. Does not seem to have auto turn off. Has a single rechargeable AAA battery which can be charged while in use by line-in from the included cigarette lighter socket adapter. I love it :)

First International Digital irock! 300W Car FM Modulator

First International Digital irock! 300W Car FM ModulatorFor the money, this is a nice, inexpensive way to hook your computer to your stereo, or play your MP3 or other portable music player through the car stereo when you're on the road.

On the other hand, if you're a stickler for sound quality (like me), you'll most-likely be disappointed. The signal is not consistent, fading in and out with various hisses and pops. In addition, the device picks up interference from just about everything, including the device it's plugged into, so you really have to fiddle and adjust positions and frequencies to minimize the static. It's not so bad if you're using it around the house, but extremely annoying if you're on the road where the sound quality and interfering signals may change every couple of miles.

I bought this unit to use with an MP3 player. It has four different frequencies to choose from (88.1/88.3/88.5/88.7 MHz) and uses two AAA batteries. It simply plugs into the headphone mini stereo jack with a very short cable and has a simple power on/off button with LED indicator.

I found that for my car stereo to receive the signal from the Irock! it needs to sit within 2-3 feet of the antenna. This requirement leaves me only one choice for placement and that is on the passenger side dash. Unfortunately the placement means that every time I turn a corner the Irock! and my MP3 player slide across, and often off, my dash. If I had a car with the antenna in the back this would have been useless.

The low power of this unit allows even very distant FM channels to interfere with reception and causes me to retune to one of the other channel selections often. Also I expected longer battery life, while I can get up to 6 hours on a set of batteries I find that the power output drops quickly after the first 2 hours and requires new batteries or the 2-3 foot antenna distance drops further.

While usable I would not recommend it to any one traveling where there is a possibility of moderate to strong FM in the units operating frequency range.

Buy First International Digital irock! 300W Car FM Modulator Now

Based on the reviews, I decided to try it and then return it if/when it didn't work. Of course, it didn't work, even with the one unused FM station slot in our area. But before I took it back I decided to take it apart to see what made it (not) tick. Turns out that the thing might work if they'd just made the pigtail a little longer, one of the wires in the cable is an antenna -but it's way too short. So I just soldered some 24 guage wire to the circuit board pad where the antenna attaches, fed it out the door of my car, wound it around the car antenna and stuck a piece of electical tape around it. Viola! Works perfectly, in stereo with no residual noise or static and I can even overpower active stations. And, since I left the plastic button out when I reassembled it I don't have the inadvertant turn-on problem. For a permanent installation I'll probably just run the antenna wire along the car antenna and cover the whole thing with heat-shrink tubing, or I could put an A-B switch in line with the antenna cable and hide it under the dash. If you are uncomfortable with taking the thing apart, you might try just winding a coil of wire around the pig-tail cable and then to your car antenna. Good Luck!

I've had mine for nearly a year. Use it in the car all the time. My car stereo has a CD player but no cassette deck or auxiliary input. This thing is perfect for use with my MP3 player, cassette player (books on tape), and shortwave radio.

Having 4 available frequencies is good for traveling, when near a local station that's using one of them (they tend to be college stations, with relatively weak signals, so they fade quickly & don't 'bleed' into nearby frequencies). This thing usually overpowers any station, however has a pretty strong signal, although I sometimes have to move it around a bit to get clear reception (due to the car's frame?). Outside of the car, the signal stays strong for at least 50 feet.

I recommend using rechargeable AAA batteries they'll perform well as this device drains fairly quickly. And the on/off button is sensitive, so it turns on when not in use unless you store it carefully in the car. I've wasted a few sets of batteries by tossing the thing in the back seat.

I wanted to play my iPod tunes in my car. I had a cassette adapter but the quality was not satisfactory. I bought the Irock 300w thinking it would be better as there would not be the mechanical problem of cassette head alignment with the cassette adapter.

It works. The sound comes through the radio on the tuned channel. The quality is not very good. The signal drops occasionally. I found improvement by moving the unit around the vehicle but since my car antenna is in the rear that is where it worked best. It is a little difficult to control the iPod when it is several feet behind you. It is also not convenient to run a cable back there to have the Irock closer to the antenna.

I don't use it. I use the cassette adapter with its own poor sound quality problems.

Accutire MS-4445B Programmable Talking Tire Gauge with Lighted Tip and Storage Case

Accutire MS-4445B Programmable Talking Tire Gauge with Lighted Tip and Storage CaseThis gauge appears to work well and the 'voice' feature is handy as is the 'programmable' feature. However, I agree with prior reviewers' comment that one needs 'good aim' to get a good seal. I've been checking tires for 50 years and still need precise positioning to keep air from escaping while trying to check it! I'm not sure why this is such a problem Accutire needs to come up with a better nozzle design.

I bought the earlier version of this product back around 2004 and it had the same problem of not making the perfect seal. It finally broke while taking readings out in the rain. I ordered the MS-4445B along with the MS-4751WC to do a product comparison. The MS-4445B has improved in quality over the years and it now comes with a great hard cover case. It is sleek and slim as before. The pistol grip seems to feel better. The older version had a dim backlight and thus at night the LCD screen was harder to see. This one has a bright backlight so the talking feature is more of a novelty to impress your children, but still kind of cool. The case is a hard cover so it is great, but way too big. It doesn't fit in the center console of a G35 Coupe nor the glove compartment if you have the manual in there so I had to put it in my side door compartment where it rattles after every bump. They should have made the case a lot smaller. The case that came with the MS-4751WC fits like a glove, which is pretty nice, although not a hard case. The MS-4751WC is for my wife's Denali which fits the "bulky" profile. Both gauges did well as far as the readings were concerned, but I prefer this one because it is less bulky and the shape fits comfortably in my hand. I've heard that using tape solves the perfect seal issue for both gauges. I have not resorted to that method, luckily. Maybe it is because I was use to the less forgiving older model that I can take a perfect reading most of the time. If you press the gauge down perpendicular to the pin, you should not have a problem taking a reading. Any slight degree off 90 may bring on some frustration.

they should have programed it to say: "thanks for buying me, but I don't work!"

it was impossible to push the end on the valve stem without having air escape from the tire. in my case, i was losing nitrogen, which i had installed in all 4 tires @ $10.00 each. I returned both of them to Amazon, which handled the return with expeditious professionalism. thank you Amazon! Larry "K"
