2007-2008-2009 Chevy Cobalt Keyless Entry Remote Fob Clicker with GM P/N: 15252034.
  • 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt
  • 2007-2009 Pontiac G5
  • 2005-2010 Pontiac G6
  • FCC ID: KOBGT04A
  • Part numbers: 15252034, GM 15252034, GM15252034

My daughters 2009 Chev Cobalt key fob stopped working and upon opening I noticed the prongs that hold the battery in place where broken. They appeared to have been broken when she was replacing the battery. I chalked the damage up to a 19 yr old not know what she was doing and went online to start looking for a replacement. I ordered the FIRST replacement (not through Amazon) the very next day from a company that had really good reviews (even paid more to go with the higher reviewed, five stars, company). Long story short the fob looked fine from the outside, so I decided to pop open the case to inspect the battery prongs and found one of the two soldering points was broken and knew it wouldn't make it through one battery replacement. I had to return that fob for a refund since the highly rated company I ordered it from didn't have any more in stock. They where not happy I wasn't willing to wait on a replacement. Next, I went on Amazon and ordered another Fob (new, not refurbished like from the first company). The new fob was delivered in about 3 days later and looked almost perfect, except the case appeared to have been pried open before. I could tell by the apparent screw driver markings in the plastic near the pry point. I carefully popped it open and checked the prongs. The soldering points were intact on this one, but I don't have much confidence in them lasting if you have to replace the batter more than two or three times. Bad design GM, thanks a lot!

Unfortunately I used them for my 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt and of course Chevy makes no way to manually sync these to my vehicle. I did plenty of research on the internet and even through my very expensive All-Data program, which is what most of the major mechanics use for diagnosis, step by step walkthroughs and even legal time allowed by the government for each repair done and even that program told me I had to get it flashed by a dealership, which wanted $80 a piece, but I called around. Did some negotiating and got one dealership to flash both of my new key FOBs for $25. All in all with a bunch of internet time, research and negotiations I saved almost $200. Worth it.

The product was absolutely perfect! It's like brand new and I took it to my dealership to have it programed and there were no issues whatsoever!

I couldn't be happier with the product and how quickly it was shipped to me. If I am in need of another key fob, I will be purchasing from this dealer again.

Got this programmed at the dealership, worked for 3 days then quit working, am working on trying to switch out the battery and test it, but either way, that's just more unexpected expense.

The fob is perfect and the price and shipping were as well. Great deal and will buy anymore I need for 4 other vehicles as well from this company.

Husky Liners Custom Fit Second Seat Floor Liner for Select Jeep Cherokee XJ Models (Black)

Husky Liners Custom Fit Second Seat Floor Liner for Select Jeep Cherokee XJ ModelsI like the look of the Husky Liners, The fit is pretty good but the material a bit too stiff for my liking and a little on the thin side. Not that I think it is going to puncture or tear but it has a thin plasticy sound underfoot. My biggest complaint with this liner is that it is made up of two pieces one includes the center section that goes over the transmission tunnel (hump) and overlaps the second one. My kids would foul up the overlap in about a minute leading to dirt, leaves, etc. getting underneath the second mat. The fact that it didn't fit between the back of the power seat base and the base of the rear seats was disappointing as well but at least it would work for those without power seats. I ended up going with the Rugged Ridge liner which is one piece made of a heavier more rubbery plastic, and fits Cherokees with power seats.

Duracell DRINVC130 130W Power Inverter with 2.1 Amp USB Port

Duracell DRINVC130 130W Power Inverter with 2.1 Amp USB PortOverall this is a great little charger. My favorite feature would definitely have to be the DC plug since my car only has 1, and I don't have to buy another splitter to power other devices.

For powering a laptop, the AC plug works great.

The main reason I bought it was to power a HP Touchpad, which apparently the 2.1amp USB plug still has trouble doing.

The only other complaint I would have about it is that the fan makes a quiet ticking noise. It's just loud enough to hear; if it were more like a fan noise I wouldn't have an issue with it.

I initially was looking for an inverter with an extra 12V power outlet because I have a Soundfly Car FM Transmitter for SD card/USB/MP3 in my older car (which lacks an Aux input on the stereo), and the Soundfly occupies the 12V outlet all the time. Finding such an inverter which ALSO has a USB power port, and a 2.1A high-powered one at that, was a huge bonus. And the cup-holder form factor is very convenient. This product is brilliant; absolutely, totally perfect, or it WOULD be... And that brings us to some of the minor drawbacks.

For one thing, there is no On/Off switch on the inverter. My car never turns off its 12V socket, key in the ignition or no key. The Duracell inverter theoretically will disengage if the car battery gets low, but I'd rather not find out. That means remembering to unplug the thing every time so as not to leave the inverter circuits constantly live on the battery, which greatly lessens its convenience.

For another thing, the USB port is supposed to be a high-current 2.1A variety. However, my iPad2 doesn't seem to charge at full speed on it. The iPad SAYS it's charging, and the charge percentage doesn't go down, but then, it doesn't really go up, either.

Another minor complaint, the inverter fan generates a faint ticking buzz. It's enough to be irritating if you're sitting in the parking lot listening to something quiet, but luckily, once you're underway, the fan is easily masked by engine and road noise. I rarely notice it, and honestly, the Duracell is much quieter than the last inverter I owned.

(Also, there is only one of each kind of port. One 12V, one AC, one USB. For me this is perfect, but if you need, say, multiple USB charge ports, you might need to go a different way.)

I have addressed these concerns by: Ignoring the fan noise. Using my iPad on the USB port, and not worrying about whether it's charging at full speed or not. (If my iPad is REALLY low and I need it to definitely charge FAST, I can always plug its own little white charger into the AC outlet on the inverter. Shouldn't have to do that, but it works.) And finally, I installed a heavy duty lamp cord switch on the inverter's 12V power feed wire, so I can leave the unit plugged in in my car but turn it on and off. Thus voiding the product warranty, but for me, the increase in usefulness was worth it.

Overall, this is a highly useful gadget, I use it every day and am glad it's there every day.

Buy Duracell DRINVC130 130W Power Inverter with 2.1 Amp USB Port Now

This is a great little inverter for the money. It doesn't get 5 stars because of one very big problem--if you leave it plugged in, it will run your battery down if your vehicle continues to send power to the cigarette lighter even when the key is turned off. Luckily for me, this happened to me in a nice, heated garage, and I had another vehicle with jumper cables handy. Since then, I have been very careful about unplugging it every time I get out of the car. The cupholder shape fits perfectly into my car's cupholder. I love the fact that it has 3 outlets--(1) 12v outlet, (1) 120v outlet, and (1) usb charger port. I can charge my phone, listen to my mp3 player (powered by 12v), and run my GPS off the wall charger all at the same time. When I was researching to buy this unit, I spent a lot of time looking for one similar to this. There are cheaper and less expensive units out there. Very few had the size, power, and function of this unit. It's been great so far. It's never overheated (yet), and it is so quiet, I can't even hear it running, even with the car turned off. When I bought this, it was about $40.

Road trips these days are a perpetual electronic negotiation. Do we pack the "travel kit" for the phones, or will the batteries last until we get there? Is the USB cable for the player enough? How about the spare battery for the laptop?

This inverter takes out the guesswork. It will accept all three kinds of connection USB, wall outlet (grounded, even), and "cigarette lighter" and let you use and charge electronic devices in your car.

The device is very well designed. The "wall outlet" has enough space around it to accommodate oddly-shaped plugs. The cord is long enough to put a laptop in the back seat, and plug into the dash. And, joy of joys, the thing is designed to fit into the cupholder (with enough clearance around it to let the fan in the bottom of the device have airflow).

As a road test, I charged an iPhone (via the cigarette lighter outlet), a regular cell phone (via the wall-type outlet), and a Sansa MP3 player (via the USB) simultaneously. They all charged about as quickly as I would expect from a normal connection, with no problems. After 40 minutes in a warm car the inverter was very slightly warm to the touch, but not enough for the cooling fan built into the bottom of the device to go on (I expect it will when one is charging a laptop. And I wouldn't attach a washing machine to this, if you should somehow want to run one on the highway).

Our Suburu Forester has another lighter-outlet inside the center armrest, with a small compartment next to it for on-the-road electronics (I also recommend the Forester). This device will be living there.

Want Duracell DRINVC130 130W Power Inverter with 2.1 Amp USB Port Discount?

I've been driving around with this Duracell DRINVC130 130W Power Inverter with 2.1 Amp USB Port in my car for a few days now. So far, so good. I've charged a cell phone using the AC outlet, iPod using the USB port, and GPS using the CD outlet. I had no problems fitting any of the various cords into their respective outlets or with the cords staying in place, including the connection with my vehicle's power outlet.

The cylindrical shape fits into the cupholder as designed, which is a nice convenience and which makes access to the plugs easy. So far, this power inverter is quiet and cool, but none of the other inverters I have tried became warm or made any sound either (though both quit working after about a year).

The plastic seems thin and prone to shattering if dropped on a driveway or garage floor. The thin plastic around the various outlets seems another place that could be prone to splitting or splintering after prolonged use. So far, though, neither has proven a problem, the unit continues working well, and it performs as describes, so I upgraded my original rating to 4 stars (9/27/11).

The packaging is supposedly "green," which I think means we are not supposed to feel guilty for buying something that uses more cardboard than needed and prints instructions on the front of a legal-sized sheet of paper instead of on the front and back of a sheet half this size. (Furthermore, the instructions and warranty information could easily be edited by a third or more just by using the active voice.)

There is a three-year "limited" warranty, but as with most products, having to hold onto a dated sales receipt during that time can prove a challenge.

Schumacher INC-7A-OBD On-Board Diagnostic Connector

Schumacher INC-7A-OBD On-Board Diagnostic Connectorthis unit works great.will get the job done,at half the price of the tool truck that stops at work.big thanks to amazon.

I saw this exact same item at a shop that I get my tires, batteries, alignment, etc. done.

I had to get a new battery one day and one of the guys brought this out and plugged it into the OBD port to keep the electronic memory from losing everything while the battery was being swapped, I wrote down the info for this item and searched for it, forund it here and bought it, now I don't have to go to the shop for a battery swap, I can do it myself at home.

Well built and easy to use. Works like a charm. Only reason I didn't give it the 5th star is that the owner can't replace the internal battery, which will mean some down time at some point in time have it serviced.

If you ever need to change out your car battery and you need to keep all of the programs stored in your cars computer, then this is a must. I had the dealership change some of the factory settings on my truck to improve the performance, but the problem is, if you removed the car battery then you loose all of your upgraded settings. So when you plug this into the OBD II port, it allows current to stay in the computer and you don't loose your settings...

Want Schumacher INC-7A-OBD On-Board Diagnostic Connector Discount?

If you change out a lot of batteries, you know what a pain it is to reset all the electronics on board these days. Especially if it's got to go through an emissions inspection also.

So this little memory saver does what it needs to do so conveniently and for so little cost. Amazon pulled through on the fast free shipping to boot!

Don't go disconnecting the battery terminals while the vehicle's running. That's a NO NO! I really like the LED charge status indicators. Very accurate. Get one of these, you'll be glad you did.

I'm not sure what happened with the previous review there, but I have had mine working as an aux battery with a 4000 watt system for over a year now without any problems. It runs ALL of my accessories and I have an isolator between it and my stock battery so even when I run my accessories at a car show for too long and kill the Kinetik my main battery will still start the car. I have run this Kinetik down so many times I can't count but she's still running strong. I even have been able to "jump" myself when my stock battery finally took a dump last week. So, I am about to purchase a 2000 watt Kinetik to run my system and accessories and replace my stock battery with this one. Great battery!

A few people told me to get this to help with the dimming of my headlights. They said it would work great so I looked up reviews on it, they were all good almost to good to be true so I bought it. When I got it I tested it and it was charged enough to use, so I wired it up exactly like the booklet said and it was fine. It has worked great for a month untill today driving home from work the battery terminal melted right out of the battery. I couldn't believe it 200 bucks gone. I stayed within the wattage that kinetik suggests and I also hooked it up the way they suggest so the only conclusion I can come to is this thing is crap save your money.

Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G (Black)

Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPod; iPhone 1G, 3G
  • Compatibility: iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G; iPod classic 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch; iPhone 1G, 3G, 4
  • Power and charge your iPhone or iPod--extends playtime up to 30 hours of music or 6 hours of video (on iPod nano 3G) or 3 hours of talk (on iPhone)
  • Includes retractable USB charging cable
  • High-capacity rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery pack for increased energy efficiency
  • Small enough to keep connected to your iPhone or iPod

If you have an Apple iPhone 3G, then you probably have the same three complaints that everyone else does:

1) No video camcorder

2) No flash

3) Battery life is poor

Well, the Kensington Mini Battery Extender helps address the third flaw. I also bought an Incase Power Slider because I was wondering how they compared. I had read reviews and heard from people that the Mophie Juice Pack had problems with the rubber case falling off, so I decided to skip that one, although I played around with it a bit before buying the Incase.

All these products perform their basic function admirably they charge your iPhone when you don't have access to an outlet. I can't actually compare which one recharges the most or for the longest, but it's pretty safe to say that they should take care of you through most typical situations (e.g. a transcontinental flight, a busy day on the phone, or a night out with friends after a long day at work). Unless you are Jack Bauer and have a magical cell phone that never runs down, chances are that any of these will keep you in power.

But the fit and finish of these products is the real differentiator (along with price). In reverse order, are my preferences:

3) Mophie Juice Pack: Adds a little bulk to the iPhone, but the rubber covering can cause problems in the long run. But I also didn't like the design it only partially covers the iPhone, leaving the top part exposed. Seemed awkward to me, combine that with the high price, and this wouldn't be my first (or second) choice.

2) Kensington Mini Battery Extender: The design is very awkward. Other owners had talked about keeping it attached while using the phone not only does the connection feel flimsy (making me fear that the dock connector would be damaged), but it also looks unattractive. I'd only use this in an emergency situation or if I wasn't planning on using the phone at the same time. The only reason I have it as my second choice is because the price is right for less than $35 (MSRP is $39), you can have the same power backup as with the Mophie or the Incase. If you are on a budget, then this is a great option. Another possible scenario is if you want to have more than one battery extender/charger you can get three of these for the same price as one of the others.

1) Incase Power Slider: By far, the Power Slider had the best design. The two-part design completely encases the iPhone, increasing the dimensions only slightly. It's a little wider, a little longer, a little thicker, and a little heavier. But it's a very natural look, and most people wouldn't even realize it's also a battery pack. It's pretty easy to put on and take off, and feels like a second skin in the end without impeding the camera. But it is harder to access buttons, so I don't plan on using this on a daily basis only when I travel.

SUMMARY: Like I said, any of these will do the basic job, but the Kensington will do it cheaper and the Incase will do it in style.

Wanted to confirm that this works with Iphone 3g just fine. You can keep using your Iphone and listening to music etc while this is attached (it puts it into charging mode like plugging it into a wall outlet). Hoping to use this for my plane travel this week will report on battery life.

Also, wanted to say that this seems to charge fine with my Belkin Iphone charger (the set where you get wall and car charger with usb plug ins on both) it's really nice because the wall charger has two usb outlets so you can charge both the battery and Iphone at the same time without a laptop etc.

I tested this charger on my iPhone(first iphone version when they just came out.)

I drained my iphone down to 10% warning and plugged in a fully-charger Kensington Battery. It took about 70 minutes until the charger's juice was gone and it powered my iPhone to about 50%. Surely enough, 3 hours later of constant texting, my iphone gave me the 10% business.

The Good:

Truly Portable. Dimensions are 2.5 x 2 x 0.5 inches. (I'm not sure why at the time of this review, it shows dimensions as 5.2 x 6 x 1.5 units. I pondered why this was the case, and it turns out that these dimentions are in centimeters.) Dimensions blend in well with your iPhone: it doesn't stick out, but just extends the lenght of your iphone by 2 inches.

Charge and use your phone at same time: No need to wait til the power transfers.

Stylish: Yes, I said "stylish." Every time I plug this in, the other iPhone users turn their heads and wonder what my little attachment does. The brightly-lit blue energy bar really stands out and lets you charge in style.

Tiny charging retractible USB cable: While its 4 inches in closed position, its retractible up to 2 feet at full lenght. Its fully compatible with iphone's usb plug adapter, so you can charge your battery on the plug OR using computer's USB slot.

The Bad:

For emergencies only. It would be nice if this portable charger had more juice capacity than 50% of the iPhone's battery. Because of this, I don't carry it as much and only take it with me for emergency purposes. Its a good thing to keep in your car's glove compartment or at home for those blackouts.

Bottom Line: Perfect for emergencies, but will leave you wishing for more juice in the long run.

With my morning 30 minute conference calls, I barely get by each day without needing to recharge my iPhone.

What drew me to this was the all in one style design. No cables or mess to deal with. Here's the low down:

Cons:

Simultaneous charging (connected to my Macbook Pro) took a little longer than preferred, but I guess it was because my iPhone was completely dead.

Pros:

Tiny battery pack was able to charge my iPhone to about 65% from dead which was impressive in a relatively short period of time

Battery indicator was extremely helpful

Small enough to keep in my pocket without the weight and bulk

The smartest thing about this battery pack is that it leaves about a 1.5mm gap on the bottom of the iPhone so the microphone isn't blocked. Genius.

Oh yeah, it comes with a plastic cap to protect the connector if you toss it in your work bag or something.

Just got this battery from amazon today. It works great.

To test it out on my new 3G iPhone, I drained the phone's battery completely. The external battery was not charged out of the box so I fully charged the external battery through my computer, which took about 3 hours. Then I attached the charged external battery to the iPhone. I kept the iPhone off while it was being charged by the external battery. The external battery charged my iPhone back to 80% battery life. The charge took about 1 hour.

Also, I have a case on the iPhone and did not encounter any issues with charging the phone with the external battery. The case did not have to come off!

Excellent product. I'll use this just about daily at work/home.

Battery Tender 022-0150-AAA Waterproof 800 Charger/Maintainer

Battery Tender 022-0150-AAA Waterproof 800 Charger/MaintainerIt took an overnight charge but the tender did finallly toggle the indicator light to green. The packaging is marked with "Deltrane Corporation from Deland Florida" so its the same as the others that you'll see on-line from them. Seems to me that the one from triple A (AAA) cost less than those other offerings. I've only had it for a few weeks and only used it for 12 hours, but so far so good. The only thing I didn't like is that the LED indicator colors are YELLOW and GREEN and all of the information I've found on-lind said that the LED colors would be RED and GREEN. Not a biggy, just something to be aware of.

We have purchased one of these for all our vehicles, snow blowers, tractors, boats etc. anything with electric start. [All from Amazon I might add.] They are great! We live near the Canadian border in COLD country and, especially in winter, need batteries that are always at full charge. If the snow is blowing a gale, you do not want to have the tractor or snow blower fail to start! With the Battery Tenders, we plug them in when not in use and have never had a failure in starting cold engines. Without any reservation, I recommend this product as easy to use and reliable even for a woman to use.

Deka Sports Power ETX-14

Deka Sports Power ETX-14I ordered this battery specifcally because it was a Deka manufactured battery. I received a battery that was labeled as a "Big Crank" battery. I'm sure that this battery was manufactured by Deka since it appears identical to a Deka. I would have preferred it had the Deka labeling on it. Other than that the battery seems fine. I have not installed it yet. It has only lost about two tenths of a volt in charge since 1/26/11 to present sitting idle, which is good.

This replaced my stock 2006 Buell Ulysses XB12XT battery. I've had no problems and it fit easily. Very cold weather starts are a little weak but only on the first start.

eForCity Universal USB Car Charger Single Port

eForCity Universal USB Car Charger Single PortTwo problems keep me from rating this very inexpensive car USB charger higher:

1. The charger that I received doesn't appear to be the same charger pictured on the product description. (eg., completely different molded body, glass tube fuse instead of plastic-encased fuse.)

2. It won't charge my iPhone properly. After some testing with a multimeter, it seems the output is close to 6 VDC, despite being labeled as 5 VDC +/5%, which would be a max. voltage of 5.25 VDC.

Overall, it's not worthless. Other less sensitive USB-powered products may be able to be charged by this.

I bought two of these, both fell apart (literally) within several weeks of infrequent use. Even when they worked, they never worked reliably and required connstant twisting and turning and pushing to get a connection. The whole thing looked like they were put together by a child (no, I'm just talking figuratively and not implying what you think I'm implying about Chinese labor, which is a whole different issue). A gentle squeeze, the thing goes squeaky and shaky. Unlike most other car adapters, this one doesn't have a snugly fit into the cigarette lighter. It is just so wobbly everywhere. Avoid such low quality products to keep your life sane.

An update: I subsequently purchased a few Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapters offered by Eforcity (search Amazon or eBay). What a difference. The Universal Mini USB Car Charger Adapters is exactly what this product should be made alike. Solid, compact, and reliable. Both are inexpensive Chinese made products, but one is total junk and other a gem.

Buy eForCity Universal USB Car Charger Single Port Now

This device works as expected no issues at all.

I do think the body is bigger than it should be, and can be reduced by 50% or more, with essentially a "stub" containing the USB port.

Still this is priced right and works.

Pro:

-Works well with many devices

-Snugly fits in the cigarette lighter

-Light tells you if you have power

-GREAT PRICE!!!

-Although slightly bulky, it's great that it has no cord of it's own. When traveling I would be bringing my spare 3715WW Tungsten 5 cable (see my other review) anyway, so there's less tangly mess to deal with

Con:

-Slightly bulky... for it's size I think that it could have 2 connections so that 2 devices could be powered/recharged at one time

Bottom line: Highly recommended.

Want eForCity Universal USB Car Charger Single Port Discount?

Pros: Inexpensive and eforcity is quick to ship. Fuse, easy to disassemble(easy to modify to work with new iPhone 3G/Samsung Moment/Rant). Works to charge a lot of USB connected devices(Phones,PDA,older iPods,Bluetooth wireless adapters, etc...).

Cons: Not compatible with all Phones or newer iPods. BUT there is a solution that requires soldering and two 100k Radio$hack resistors.

Overall impression: Good deal, decent build quality, easy to take apart to "fix/modify it" to get it working with newer iPods/iphones/cell phones.

Heated Fleece Travel Electric Blanket - 12 Volt - Red Plaid

Heated Fleece Travel Electric Blanket - 12 Volt - Red PlaidThe main reason that I am writing a review on this item is because it only had 3 stars because some yahoo decided to write the only review and he hadn't even purchased the item!! I almost overlooked this blanket because it had only scored three stars. At any rate, let me just assure you that you can buy this blanket with confidence. I was looking for a heated travel blanket, but absolutely could not find one in stores this winter. I took a chance on this blanket, and am very happy with it.

The blanket is a lovely, soft, snuggly fleece material. It is a cute black and red plaid. It is a larger size than some of the other electric travel blankets. The plug has a green light that shows you when it is plugged in and on. It is nice because it has an automatic shut off timer on the on/off switch. It does not instantly heat up, but most full sized electric blankets do not do this anyhow either. When the blanket gets going, it provides a wonderful noticeable heat.

The only downside is that it is not machine washable only spot clean. I did not find any of the travel electric blankets that were machine washable though, so this is pretty much par for the course. I think that you may be able to hand wash the blanket as long as the 12 volt plug is covered and kept out of the water (my opinion only of course). The only reason I think this is from my prior experience with traditional electric blankets. You can machine wash those blankets, but it is because the electric plug disconnects. These travel blankets don't have a plug that disconnects... therefore the direction to spot clean only.

Love this product. Purchased as a christmas gift for two individuals in wheelchairs. It was the perfect gift. Keeps them warm while traveling without being to big and bulky. Heats up quickly to a comfortable temperature.

We live in the snow and drive 15 minutes to my kids bus stop. They LOVE these blankets. The only disappointment was that I ordered one in solid blue so the kids could tell theirs apart and it came in the red plaid like the other one I ordered. But it all turned out, my son was very happy to have a plaid one and when it is their turn to ride "shotgun" we don't have to switch blankets!!! Gee, they are learning to share!!!

So I bought this to use while I sleep in my camper when it is cold. Works great, but can only be ran for 30-45 mins! After that the timer shuts it off. Went back and read the product description says nothing about shutting off after 30-45 mins. Great for a car ride, bad for a sleeping blanket. Using a thermostat instead of a timer would have been better, I'll probably return.

This takes 10 minutes to heat up, so don't think it's going to get warm quickly. If you have a need for this, like an older parent who gets very cold in the winter even on short drives, heat it up before you pick them up. It would be nice on a long trip, or if your driving partner likes it really cold in the car.

ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth/OBD-II Scan Tool Interface

ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth/OBD-II Scan Tool InterfaceThis Bluetooth powered OBD-II interface adapter has got to be one of the coolest products out there right now. It may be small in stature but it becomes a giant when coupled to a capable software solution such as the Android app "Torque Pro". I have used this device on three different occasions so far allowing me to successfully troubleshoot and clear those pesky "Check Engine" lights that won't get you past an emissions test. I was really impressed with the speed in which it retrieves the vehicle information including any freeze frame data available. Moreover, this tool is widely adaptable to function with other operating systems as well (i.e. Windows, Symbian). There is only one small problem I have ran into with this device. After you have poked around inside your vehicle's secret, dark digital bowels, monitored its sensors, fixed the problems and came away with a feeling like "YEAH!", it is too easy to forget unplug it and take it with you as there is no cord. But don't worry it will even shut itself off to avoid draining the vehicle battery.

A well built product that has worked flawlessly so far. Bluetooth connects quickly and reliably. The included ODBWiz software runs on Windows and for Android and you download ScanTool's free app. Both provide modest diagnostics and dashboard capabilities. For Android, I recommend Torque for $5. Torque works great with the code reader right out-of-the-box and has many nice interfaces. Nice for people with four gauge dashboards who want to see extra info such as Oil Pressure, Voltage, and Manifold Pressure.

No cons so far for this product. It is more expensive than the ELM 327 chip set code readers, but the STN1110 chip set is much faster and more powerful. The quality build, reliability, and included software make it a good deal.

Buy ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth/OBD-II Scan Tool Interface Now

This bluetooth adapter, though a little expensive, works very well. It includes good instructions and a simple scantool program. You can use with an android device such as a phone or tablet by installing an app. I use torque and It works very well. I really haven't had the time to try any of the other apps. The data stream from the adapter is very quick. Not quite real time like a professional scan tool, but very close. You can install the scan tool program that the tool comes with on a laptop with the included disc, or by downloading with the security key code. I have not yet had a chance to try the computer program with it. If you are a do-it-yourselfer you may be able to save a little money by using the obd link to aid in diagnosing yor vehicle. Just remember that it is not a substitute for a well trained and experienced diagnostic technician! Overall obd link mx seems to be a very good and well built adapter. No problems whatsoever. Very compact and the firmware is upgradeable which is unusual for similar adapters. Although it is a little expensive compared to other adapters, I definately recommend it.

I bought this scan tool based solely off of a response of the owner of the company to an individual that wrote what I perceived to be a bogus review. After reading the owners response, I could feel his passion for his product and his dedication to providing the highest quality product he could make. That being said I bought this from Amazon and it arrived two days later.

I wanted to use this scan tool with my Acer A500 Android Tablet. In the meantime before it arrived I went to the google store and bought Torque Pro, Dash Command, and OBD Link, the factory software. I loaded all of the software onto the tablet and before I had received the OBD Link MX. I noticed right off a problem with an intermittent wifi connection but couldn't quite figure out what was wrong with the wifi. In the meantime the scan tool arrived and I set about pairing it via bluetooth with my tablet. I also noticed that Amazon had shipped the package in an envelope that crushed the package. it was also missing the CD from the package. I plugged the OBD Link MX into my 1998 K2500 Suburban and immediately the data was not coming through to the Acer A500. It was late at night, I was tired, so I quit fooling around with it. I did though, shoot off a very short, terse, email to the OBD Link customer service, thinking I would get a response a week later if that. I was prepared to send it back to Amazon, but, by the time I was ready to crawl into bed, lo and behold there was an email reply from the OBD Link Customer Service and I thought to myself, WOW, I have never had an email response so quick. I read it and it took me a couple of days before I could try out the suggestions. It took three more email exchanges over a week to finally resolve the issue. The slowness of figuring out the problem was on my end. It took me a bit of time to finally get out to my Suburban and try something new that Customer service had suggested. I honestly think that if I had been on top of things, all of these email exchanges could have been done in less than a couple of hours. The OBD Link Customer Service was just that fast. They also sent me a replacement CD that I received just a couple of days later.

The solution was that the Torque Pro software was ruining the bluetooth and wifi connections. Dash Command didn't work either. But you can bet your bottom dollar that after I uninstalled the Torque Pro software the OBD Link software worked perfectly.

Bottom Line is that a measure of a company is not how they perform when things go well, it is inevitably judged how they perform when there is a problem.

I give the OBD Link MX an A+ rating, but more importantly I give the OBD Link MX Customer Service an A+++++ rating. They were just that good. I really like companies like this. Unfortunately there aren't many like them that are so customer oriented.

UPDATES: 6/17/12

I ran into minor issue with the cheap car power adapter that came with it. The adapter will not work if you have those multiple cig splitter. I guess it requires more juice where you have to plug as a single source. My splitter a AC car adapter and that worked for me so far. The item did not come with instruction. The item is possibly refurbished...booo!!.

Light indicator on the GPS:

yellow: power plugged in

red: power not plugged in

flashing solid green: GPS connection is active to your bluetooth device.

I originally was going to spend $100 on a TOMTOM car kit for my Iphone with the Nav App. I accidently found out that my Ipad 2 can be use as a Navigation and all it was missing was a $20 External Bluetooth GPS. I use TOMTOM and Navigon Apps and they work perfectly with this TomTom Bluetooth External GPS. It works just like a standalone Navigation except you're getting a bigger 10" hi res screen and on top of other things you can use with the Ipad 2. Since the maps were preloaded in the tablet, all the pois and Nav features work without relying on a 3g/4g connection. Having the 3g/4g data service advantage is searching places on google not in the preloaded Pois. With millions of Pois already preloaded in the Navigation App, you really don't need to spent extra money for a data service.

First off I am using this unit to add GPS support to my jail broken WiFi only iPad 3. To use this product, as far as I know, iOS products require a 10 dollar app called BTStack which is available on the Cydia market place. After installing BTStack pairing the unit with my iPad was a snap. Once BTStack had been activated and paired with the MKii every GPS app I tried that required a GPS chip located on the 3G/4G version iPads just worked.

Location services are spot on and I've never had the unit report my location incorrectly. Accuracy is excellent as well and should be sufficient enough to work with most navigation apps but I'm not sure I would want to use this with projects requiring high precision such as surveying jobs. I've activated the unit, performed basic walking tests and the unit would update my changing location accordingly. The battery in the unit lasts awhile, and the unit features an auto shutoff in case you forget to turn the unit off as I do a lot.

I've had this unit for a month or two and have only had to charge it four times with almost daily use.

From my experience I would recommend this product for anyone wanting to add GPS capability to their WiFi only iOS device. It's worth a look considering some of the other add on GPS units are +100 dollars while this one was only 15 through an Amazon market place seller.

I was looking for a cheap solution for GPS on my HP Touchpad. The Tomtom Mk II is the cheapest I could find. After about one month of using it, all I can say is working as expected. Battery life is OK for my purpose.

  • Maximum 7 RF Channel Capable

  • Transmitter for AA-RS20
  • Transmitter for APS-25HJLAD

to my surprise recieved remote quicker than i expected!! i have a 2001 toyota tacoma prerunner and had my backup remote stolen, so was looking for a replacement. this remote looks exactly like the old one and was cheap($16) so i went with it. programming was a lil tricky, but got my arm/disarm channel set, and my unlock all doors channel set too. the only last channel i could not get right was the channel for 30 sec headlight activation...but overall im happy with it! the main stuff works thats all that matters in the end!!

i thought buying a remote would be much more expensive, so im pretty happy with this product and having my alarm and keyless entry back on track!!

Received item and was able to program without any problems Works like a charm for my Toyota! Seller was able to assist with programming instructions (which are a little complicated to follow but that is due to the system and not the replacement remote).

Had to download the instructions from the Audiovox site. Would have been nice if they'd been included, but it wasn't a big deal. Love that it came with a battery already inside. I'd tried to take it apart to install one until I realized, by accidentally pushing the button, that it was already in there.

Programming was a little tricky at first. Took me two attempts. The second time, the alarm went off on my car and I realized the programming was successful when I pushed the button on the remote and it chirped and turned my alarm off. Apologies to my neighbors. Then I tested the remote by pushing it on and off a few times to make sure it was finally programmed.

This remote has great range, like my old ones used to have before they wore out. Now I don't have to push the button a dozen times in exactly the right position in order to unlock my car. And the price was better than on other sites. Hopefully this one will last until I decide to replace my car.

Kat's 1153 Handi-Heat 200 Watt Magnetic Heater

Kat's 1153 Handi-Heat 200 Watt Magnetic HeaterFor my old tractor, with no room in the water jacket for a freeze plug heater, this is an excellent solution. The magnet is powerful enough that you feel secure leaving it attached for a while unattended, and it transfers the heat to the oil and metal more effectively than a dipstick heater, which has very little surface area. The nice thing about attaching this device to the bottom of the part you want heated is that any heat that escapes flows up and around the part it's stuck to.

I've used this heater for the past year in Northern Wisconsin, where the weather can go to fifty below. Just put it on the oil pan and plug it in. It maintains sufficient warmth and oil viscosity to start the engine the next morning despite the cold.

I bought the smaller one and it's worked great. If I had one complaint it's that, while the unit functions in extreme weather, the electric cord insulation cracked due to constant use in sub-zero weather. I will replace that, since this unit is indispensable to someone living in a very cold area.

I have a specialized engine block heater in one of my cars and have used this unit on the others. It functioned as well as the engine block heater, despite it's small size.

I would highly recommend this unit. The magnet is plenty strong to attach firmly to a flat metal surface and the small size is actually an advantage when sliding it beneath the engine to attach it.

Buy Kat's 1153 Handi-Heat 200 Watt Magnetic Heater Now

Works well, would suggest a higher wattage for diesel engines though. The package insert (in fine writing) states "indoor use only," which is ridiculous since if my vehicle was indoors I wouldn't need a block heater.

I have purched three of these heaters (two from Amazon, one from an auto parts store). Two of the three have melted the plastic case resulting in a very hazardous condition. Five Star Mfg. Co. was unresponsive. I strongly caution against this product for use on anything of significant value or in an area containing combustable materials.

Want Kat's 1153 Handi-Heat 200 Watt Magnetic Heater Discount?

I looked at this and one of the "150 watt heating pad" units & wasn't sure which was best, so with both being ~$25 (where it's not like buying a car) I got one of each (figuring I may put one on a car and keep one for other uses). One of the places I wanted to be able to use them was on a small engine (like for a generator or snow-blower) and with those having an aluminum block (where the magnet won't stick) I got a steel plate ~1/8 thick I could bolt up to the engine base. I put this heater on the plate (without it on the engine yet) & plugged it in, after 1 minute the plate seemed totally cold still. I pulled the plate off and put my hand near the unit where it's base was warm, so put it back on. Apparently, the magnetic bars (that we assume holds the hot iron to the plate) stick out enough that it leaves a 1/16-1/8 gap between the base creating the heat and the attached plate. I'm not sure if that's intentional (giving the magnets full contact to be sure they hold it where placed), but the heat either needs to "jump" the air gap or all be funneled thru the little magnet bars to get where you want it to go. If we're talking about temps of 20 or less where you want to warm an engine, having the air gap around it doesn't seem great to me. After leaving it for 1/2 hour the plate did get up to ~130 degrees, but that was it (so this does have temp controls that cycle it on & off shown from the max temp and I checked the power draw). Seeing another review of "The plastic melted on multiple units" make me wonder how it'll hold up in the long run.

I then tried placing the "heating pad" unit on the same plate (after cleaning it as per instructions and putting a bead of silicone around the edge that needed to dry). With it plugged in, the plate is too hot to hold within 1 minute (~140 degrees) and gets up to ~200 within another minute even with the less power draw.

So my conclusion is if you want good/quick heat transfer, the heat pad unit seems better with full contact putting the heat directly on what you want to warm. If you want an easy to slap on unit (that can be removed), this one may be good. Either one needs bare metal for where it's placed, so I see no real difference there (they both say "Don't place on painted surfaces cuz it'll damage the paint, so strip off any paint if there is any where you want it".)

Note: If you're wondering "How do you warm a generator engine with power out (which is when you need it)?" I have a deep cycle battery & inverter that should work for 1/2 hour, then with the gen going I can recharge.
