MLB St. Louis Cardinals Power Decal

MLB St. Louis Cardinals Power DecalGiven the price, I really didn't think this would be a very good product, but my Dad loves the Cardinals and I was running out of new things to get him related to the team, so I went a head and ordered this. I was pleasantly surprised. It appears to be made of sturdy plastic and it's motion sensitive so it doesn't waste energy. Best of all, it lights up very, very brightly. I didn't think it would be nearly so nice. Of course, it hasn't been used long so I can't attest to the longevity, but so far it seems well worth the money.

I bought this and an Illinois Fighting Illini one for Christmas presents. They are easy to install and look great going down the road. They only come on when it's dark and the car is moving, then shut off after a couple of minutes when the car is still. They would make a great gift for anyone.

Tripp Lite APS750 Inverter / Charger 750W 12V DC to 120V AC 20A 5-15R 2 Outlet

Tripp Lite APS750 Inverter / Charger 750W 12V DC to 120V AC 20A 5-15R 2 OutletI have an off-road trailer that I use for research. I purchased the APS750 and coupled it with a 105 AH AGM battery in the nose box of the trailer. Away from mains power, it provides excellent run time for several laptops and communications equipment. I keep the battery charged with solar panels off-road and take advantage of the 20A charging capacity of the APS750 when mains power is available. It's a 750W sine wave inverter, transfer switch, and battery charger in a rugged package perfect for my needs. I highly recommend the APS750 for mobile applications where high quality and reliable power is important. I can see where it might make a good emergency power system too.

[Edit Sept. 21, 2011: In my original review I stated that the Tripp Lite APS750 was a pure sine wave inverter. I removed that statement from my review as I learned through investigation that the output is pure sine wave when running on mains power (as expected) and PWM (pulse width modulated) sine wave when running on battery. PWM sine wave should not be confused with the fixed square wave output of cheaper inverters. PWM provides tight voltage regulation (+/5%) and eliminates harmonic noise the static hum you might hear with sensitive equipment if run on a cheaper square wave inverter. PWM sine wave is suitable for sensitive electronic equipment and motors. Anyway, I've been running sensitive radio communications equipment and computers on my APS750 with no problems.]

I use this as a backup power source for my pellet stove. If the power goes out when the stove is on, you get a smoky mess since it relies on a fan for combustion and exhaust. I chose to go the APC route instead of the stove-branded unit I feel more comfortable with a company that knows this business well. I could not be happier with it fast switching, charges the battery fast after the outage too. Ultimately simple as well the switch is either off, or automatic or charge-only. Set it and forget it!

Here in South Florida, we have what would be described as unpredictable weather... which leads to unpredictable power ;-). Since I work at home on the computer, I need to be able to work through our unexpected power outtages which can last several hours at a time. My UPS just wouldn't cut it for power outtages lasting more than an hour or so.

Enter the king of UPS's, the APS 750! I bought a marine battery at Walmart for under $70 and connected it to the unit. Just the one battery gives me about 5 to 6 hours of run-time for both my desktop and my LCD monitor. If I need more run-time, I can simply connect more batteries in parallel.

Like a regular UPS, the unit charges when it has power, and switches to battery during a surge or blackout. Though the transfer time is a bit higher than a typical UPS, it doesn't seem to matter.

I brought one of these down to Costa Rica to deal with the unexpected power outages that happen on a semi regular basis. I hooked it up to two 100 amp hour deep cycle batteries. This will run my lights, electronics, wifi, computer, and short use of tools for a day or more (maybe much longer/ never tested). I separate & leave equipment with higher energy draws (like the refrig, pumps, washer, dryer, air conditioner) off the same power out electrical line. When set to operate automatically, this inverter takes over and supplies the 120 volts of electricity from the batteries via inverter when your grid electricity goes off. This unit will also regulate the grid voltage when voltage drops low or spikes high. The batteries are automatically recharged when the grid electricity comes back on. Great product for good competitive price. In my opinion: This is the BEST DEAL on the market. I believe Tripp Lite knows what they are doing when I study their full line of products. I see they also make auto power supplies for medical use. 2012 Update: My Tripp Lite APS has been working flawlessly for 4 years in Costa Rica's humid beach climate. Another Plus: Any electric powered burglar deterrent hooked up to this system will work 24/7 including when the grid is off line.

Want Tripp Lite APS750 Inverter / Charger 750W 12V DC to 120V AC 20A 5-15R 2 Outlet Discount?

This product is truley genius. 750 watts of RMS power at demand. Instant switching at selectable voltage drops. The Tripplite APS 750 is set to run off of my 825amp marine battery when it detects a voltage drop below 95 volts. When this occurs It switches from AC pass through power to a 20 second minimum run off of the battery.

If after 20 seconds the line power is still below the adustable threshold trigger, the unit will continue to run off of the DC battery. When the line power is back and stable, the unit resumes AC in-out pass through "while also charging the marine battery at a 20amp rate" to have it fully recharged for the next AC outtage.

If you're experiencing a bad lightning storm and power is flickering, or you are going through brown-out conditions, this device will switch over the instant the voltage drop is detected and will run off of the battery power for a minimum of 20seconds. ( So there is NO rapid switching of source power.)

I use the Tripplite APS 750 to run the main life support pumps on my saltwater tank. " Four punps at a total of 120 watts." My pumps were geting damaged from the rapid switching of AC power causing one of them to malfunction and hence me having to come home to saltwater on the floor.

(Not a problem anymore!) The Tripplite APS 750 says what it does and does what it says. It may only switch to battery power for 20 seconds once in a year, but I know my floors are dry now and the critical systems on the tank are 24/7/365.

By the way, at 120 watts of draw the 825amp marine battery would last over eight hours before it exhausted its usable amp load. If you need more battery run time you can cascade muliple batteries. The Tripplite has no problem with multiple DC sources. Just follw thier insructions.

AN OUTSTANDING PRODUCT!

Odyssey 75/86-PC1230DT Automotive and LTV Battery

Odyssey 75/86-PC1230DT Automotive and LTV BatteryFor those that don't need it, then you probably don't need to spend the money. But if you need a dry battery, this is the one. It can sit for up to 2 years without having to charge it and without going bad. It can handle the heaviest off-roading you can throw at it without damage. And it has more reserve power than just about any wet cell battery there is...this thing goes forever. Don't drive your car alot?; do serious off-roading?; or just need tons of power for high-end stereos, etc? ..then get this battery and you'll never have a problem again.

I put this battery in my wife's 2007 Chevy Aveo LT.

Why did I spend $300 for a battery? Here are my reasons:

A.) I never want her to have a dead battery and be stuck somewhere with the kids. With this, even if one of the doors isn't shut all the way and the interior light stays on, she should have a fighting chance that the car will still turn over (despite what some have told me... speculators).

B.) Lifespan of the battery. I have heard these guys can last 10+ years. Wow.

I did some research on the Optima and the Odyssey and came back with mixed reviews on the Optima. Most said when they (Optimas) were made in the US, they were great. Now Optima has moved production to Mexico (call it "maximization of profits!") and as a result, the quality has dropped somewhat. The Odyssey is made by a company called Enersys, which produces batteries for aircraft and military applications. Clearly, we see which battery is the better of the two. Enough said.

However, you can spend up to twice the amount of $$ for an Odyssey Battery in comparison to the Optima.

I have only had this battery in the car for three months. The only complaint I have is that the label on the top of the battery has an air bubble underneath it; however, this COULD have something to do with the car's battery fastener (over-tightened, maybe?).

BUT, about four days ago, I left the trunk/decklid open on the car (which has a light in the trunk area). This was

open for every bit of 9-10 hours, all night long and into the morning. WIDE open, illuminated the whole while. I cringed when I noticed it the next morning on my way to the office.

Needless to say, the car cranked right over, battery had FULL power from a night of lighting up the trunk.

That's what 760 COLD CRANKING AMPS does, and will continue to do for a long time.

Oh, by the waythis is a durable battery, but it has thin plates of pure virgin lead in it. The thin plates are crucial to the lifespan and function of the battery. If you can, order this battery from Batteries Plus (they will pull your old battery and install your new one for you) -not Amazon.com. I have heard horror stories and witnessed the severe lacking of adequate shipping packaging that Amazon incorporates with their shipments.

If you trust Amazon with your $300+ dollar battery with thin plates of pure virgin lead... be mindful of the shipping.

Cheers.

Wagan 2053 Solar Powered Battery Charger

Wagan 2053 Solar Powered Battery ChargerI bought this charger a few weeks ago and so far I've been pleased with it. I'm using it to recharge AA and AAA batteries for use in a variety of household devices, as well as my cell phone. It does need direct sun to charge, but I've been successful using it indoors through a window if its pointed directly at the sun.

when this thing arrived the glue holding one of the solar cells in place had broken away from the casing, leaving the cell dangling by two thin wires, I was surprised the solder held, this thing is obviously cheaply manufactured..., didn't check but if you told me it was manufactured in china of substandard parts I wouldn't be surprised, good news is Amazon promptly had the thing picked up and refunded my money...

Buy Wagan 2053 Solar Powered Battery Charger Now

I just received the Wagan Tec 2053 charger. Amazon's web page states that adapters are supplied for several uses. One use mentioned is a 12 volt vehicle plug! However, the unit did not contain an adapter for this use!!!!! The manual also references a 12 volt plug!!! I would like to have known this BEFORE I bought the item!!

Read Best Reviews of Wagan 2053 Solar Powered Battery Charger Here

I received my Wagan 2053 solar charger about two weeks ago from Amazon. I wanted a solar charger with replaceable batteries as opposed to the lithium ion versions where you are forced to toss the entire unit out in 2-3 years once the battery stops working. It seems to try and be green with solar power, but be throwing the units out after only few years.

Also, modern NiMH batteries last for 2000 cycles so even if I used this charger once a day, I would not need to replace the batteries for 6 years. For comparison, the lithium ion chargers get about 1/4 as many cycles.

How does it look/feel?

The charger is solid, but nobody will mistake it for a premium product. It is also not a very pretty gadget.

How does it work?

it works OK. I tried three different phones and it only worked on one of them. It would not charge my Blackberry Curve or my Nokia N900 as both require some intelligent charging circuitry in the charger. This unit merely has a 5V charging socket without any intelligence. In contrast, the Solio models all charge these two phones fine.

The charger came with a collection of tips for phones 5 that existed 5 years ago. Most phones use micro-USB these days and there is no included micro-USB tip.

Another problem I had is that one cannot charge the device because it requires a specific 12V adapter which is not included.

If you take it somewhere and deplete the batteries, there is no possibility to charge it up from a wall socket because the device requires a specific 12v adapter which is not included. Most similar products will charge from USB which makes it easy to charge them up on the go when it is not possible to charge via the solar panels.

The only controls on the device are a three way switch that allow you to select 12V/Solar, Power From Batteries, and Charge Batteries. The "12V/Solar" option is a strange design choice as it is intended to be used when there are no batteries installed so that device can charge your phone directly from the solar panel instead of through the batteries. I question the utility of this option.

In Conclusion:

It works, but not particularly well. There are better options.

I purchased this same item a couple of years ago and was disappointed by the short cord on the car charger could barely reach from the charger to the dash. This new version has a much longer cord...YAY. Finally I can stop worrying that I'll go around a corner too fast and unplug the charger!!! And it's also great to have a wall charger to fully charge the devise. The car charger doesn't charge well if you're using the devise at the same time. Just used this in a rental car for a trip from SF to LA...got it just in the nick of time.

The chargers work great and the tipexchange worked great. My only complaint is that this cord is not as long as my original and when you put the Garmin on your windshield, the cord is stretched very tight between the windshield and cigarette lighter and it occasionally pulls the Garmin off the windshield due to so much pressure.

The Pro 3600 is a significant step forward in remote radar detectors for Whistler. I love the concept of not having a radar detector on the dash, windshield, or visor. For many years I have used the Whistler Pro 3450 in several vehicles with great results and reliability. The newer 3600 has the modular design which offers more versatility and also more wires to deal with. I was unable to get an over the phone install price from two local businesses, so I did it myself. Installation is the main reason that it gets four stars. I have had previous experience, but the process is always challenging. If you have not had any experience with this type of DIY project, then get help or have it done professionally. I installed this on my Prius... and yes for those skeptics, the vehicle will go fast enough to get you in trouble. I had to install the antenna in the vertical position using two sided heavy duty sticky tape and the reflector. This was very easy and so far has worked well. Getting through the fire wall is always a problem. I did not drill the recommended 15/32" hole in the fire wall. Instead, I opted to insert a small "snake" through a grommet and carefully wrapped and protected the phone type modular connection with tape. Then I lubricated the taped connection with original ArmorAll and carefully pulled it through into the dash. In fact, I pushed and my wife pulled. Please get help if you have not done this before. The Pros: Unit works very well. Definitely more sensitive and specific than the Pro 3450. The small console can be stuck or mounted almost any where, and is a major improvement over visible radar detectors and is much smaller than the 3450 console. The voice module also works great and is an asset to keeping you alert and safe. (It even reminds you to fasten your seat belt.) Less expensive than competitors. The Cons: May be too sensitive if that is even possible. On the "highway" setting, detects signals from very far away. When in a big city like Denver on the major roads, there are numerous K, Ka, & Laser signals with no law enforcement visible. Some obviously are false signals. But it does keep you alert. No Ku detection which is not yet a problem. Lots of wires to hide. Does not come with enough plastic cable ties. I have not yet considered the optional GPS module because it has to be out in the open where it can see the sky. This totally defeats the concept of a remote or hidden radar detector. I do recommend this product. It is worth the extra cost over the 3450 model to get the technological improvements. It is too early to comment on long term reliability.

I highly recommend the installation as a great project for two people who want to enhance or test the strength of their relationship. Even more so at 2 AM. But, it sure beats spending 3 hours in traffic court.

I recently purchased this radar detector. I ordered it overnight because I was taking a trip in a few days. Ordered on late Friday night and arrived Tuesday by noon. I installed this detector approx 1 hour for installation. It comes with 2 small booklets install manual and operator manual. I downloaded them off the internet so I could have full page instructions. I took a 4 hour trip and saw a few cops shooting radar. It seemed responsive on X, K, but Ka didn't give a long warning like I was hoping. I later learned that there is a Ka max setting. I turned this on and wow. Excellent warning. I have had Cobra base radar detectors in the past and this one blows them away. Laser does have many false alerts mainly by major airports. It goes crazy around O'Hare in Chicago. I learned that you can silence/store certain lasers and allow others. This thing is completely customizeable.I am currently working on disabling certain lasers that are not used in US. I am very pleased with my purchase (no tix yet) lol. I will probably get the rear antenna in the future but works great for now.

Masterbuilt HMXCR HITCH-HAUL Steel Motorcycle Carrier

Masterbuilt HMXCR HITCH-HAUL Steel Motorcycle CarrierI have a 250 Kawasaki Dual Sport that I load on to this carrier. The bike is about 75-100 lbs less than the carrying limit. The bike is relatively easy to load and take off, I can do it by my self, but that may not be true for everyone as I am a relatively tall person with circus like arms. The frame of the carrier shows some twisting as the bike is loaded onto the carrier. I am not sure if this is true with all carriers, but as there is only one central mounting point (the hitch) the shear physics of the weight on one side lead me to believe this would be the same on all carriers. The twisting goes away as soon as the bike is loaded on. It did not come with any tie down straps, but this was remedied with about 30 dollars in straps from the local true value. All in all I am very happy with the way this carrier performs and I recommend it.

This carrier is very adjustable and sturdy. It is constructed of steel, with multiple locations for pins and bolts to accommodate a variety of different sized motorcycles.

It works very well as designed, but could be better engineered if it was made so tightening the bolts didn't begin to crush the steel tubing.

I used this on a 2,000 mile trip with a KLR650 on the back of a 2005 Tacoma. Getting the bike loaded deformed the metal a little bit so after the first use I put a block under the end to support it while loading and unloading. For the price it did a fair job considering other carriers can get up to $500 and more. I'm sure with a lighter bike it would do much better. For larger bikes you might find it blocks the taillights so consider getting some magnetic or strap on taillights with it (typically used when towing another vehicle).

Garmin GPS Nuvi 255w Accessory Bundle - Car Charger + Home Travel AC Charger + USB Data Cable

Garmin GPS Nuvi 255w Accessory Bundle - Car Charger + Home Travel AC Charger + USB Data CableI ordered these to put into a second vehicle, and to charge my new GPS from wall outlets. Neither the car charger nor the wall charger would charge the GPS. The GPS reacted to being plugged in as if it were plugged into a USB cable to a computer, or cycled through an attempt to open maps.

The AC charger in this combination destroyed the battery in my new Garman. I thought the problem was the Garman itself. I was wrong. When I received the replacement Garman from Amazon I called the Garman help line. Under the guidance of the Garman representative I hooked up the AC charger to my replacement Garman. The displays I should have gotten in that charging situation did not occur. What I did experience during that charging raised concern with the representative. He told me to disconnect the AC charger immediately. He then instructed me to charge the unit using a usb connection to my computer. When I did that the charging procedure worked perfectly.

I returned the AC Charger to Amazon and was told I would get a full refund.

I ordered a new AC Charger directly from Garman. When I received that AC charger I immediately hooked it up to my Garman and it worked perfectly.

I'll most likely deal with Garman directly if I want to obtain any other additions to my new Garman.

I want to say at the outset that I have absolutely no complains with either the functioning of my GPS and nor with the accessories bundle. My complaint is with item presentation on Amazon's website. T

There was no explaination on why a newbie to GPS purchasing would even need such items. I, in my ignorance bought the total package. But, I had bought the GPS and the accessory bundle under the false assumption that all items would be shipped together from Amazon. WRONG!!! They are from separate vendors. I paid full shipping on each individual accessory. In one case, a 0.75 connection cord cost me five dollars.

Wagan 2016-6 700W Continuous Power Inverter

Wagan 2016-6 700W Continuous Power InverterIt's a cheap 700W inverter, but definitely works well enough. I haven't measured the true power output, but it cranks out 300W all day with no problems. The waveform generator isn't the best in world (to be expected at this price point) so some of my AC-DC inverters (for example, my laptop's) emit a bit of a hum, but the waveform is sinusoidal enough to run them without problem and I don't have any worries about damaging them.

It has an low-battery shutoff, an over-volatage detector, and its own fuses so it should be able to protect itself, your electronics, and your vehicle's battery without problem.

My only real gripe is that even at this price point, the provided cables should be twice as long. However, longer ones are available for not much coin.

Just as a note for people in the market for inverters, any inverter over 200W needs to be directly connected to the battery, regardless of what the manufacturer claims. This inverter will NOT plug into your lighter or accessory socket and nor should you try it, unless you like blowing fuses.

I gave this product 3 stars because it didn't come with an adapter for the cigarette lighter. It would've helped to include that with the description. I wanted more power available for plugging in items in the car. I returned this to Amazon for a refund.

Apparently, 400 watts is the max for a car to supply. I have the 400 watt inverter and it works well.
