Flaming River FR1002 The Little Battery Disconnect Switch

Flaming River FR1002 The Little Battery Disconnect SwitchI got this for my '69 VW. Sometimes I may leave it sitting for extended periods of time, and the radio was draining the battery.

I also thought one of these would come in handy-when working on any wiring. I searched around a bit, and this looked like a really solid piece-which upon receipt I realized it is. It is pretty heavy duty. I would recommend it, and I plan on getting one for my other VW. There is a rubbery seal that attaches to the key. At first it appeared as though there would be no way to get this seal on the key, but after a bit of coaxing I was able to get it on. This seals against any moisture from getting inside the keyway. You will need to get a short heavy duty cable to run from your battery to the switch, and obviously a place to mount thing thing. It is not tiny.

I purchased this product for my 2002 Eclipse. I have a lot of extras in my car ( MSD Ignition, Amplifier and 2-10" Bazookas, capassitor, high performance fuel pump and a few others. Everytime I would park my car for 3 days or more my battery would die. This product is solid and well made. The key is plastic but a high quality plastic. Like a portable radio or glock pistol hard plastic. The price is great comparing it to the Morosso brand... Why pay so much for a kill switch? I recomend this product..

I'd stripped out the threads on my travel trailer's battery. I needed something to left my disconnect the power without disconnecting the cables. The "Little Switch" did the trick. First I'd like to say that not all of these types of switches come with a mounting bracket. This one does which seems like a no brainer, but in the era of "not enough dollars = not enough sense" in manufacturing you have to be careful. I'm pleased that it is also a weather resistent swicth which is also not always the case, even amount marine swicthes. The weather cap slides over the key hole when the key is out. There is also a water / dust cover the fits on the key for use when the key is "in", however that's a little tricky to get on. All mounting and wiring nuts and hardware has been included. So far, it's doing it's job, battery is holding it's voltage just as if it was disconnected.

What can I say ? It's a switch, it's built well, and it works. It came with one key and that's enough for me. It is easy to mount about anywhere you'd want to put it.

Seems very well made. I have had good luck with Flaming River products in the past. Bought the switch to isolate winches from power when they aren't being used on an ATV.

Clarion CZ501 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with USB and Bluetooth

Clarion CZ501 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with USB and Bluetooth
  • Built-in Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming
  • Direct iPod and iPhone connectivity with front USB connector
  • HD Radio Ready (THD301) and Sirius Satellite Radio Ready for clear radio reception
  • 4V/6ch output for superior system expandability
  • Wireless remote control included

While researching for a new stereo for our 1999 Toyota Tacoma there were a few things that were 'must have's'. Bluetooth, iPod and Aux were essentials. This head unit has all of those and more. One thing that surprised me was that the Pre-Amp outputs are 4volt, which makes a difference when adding amplifiers. With the Pre-Amp output there is an additional Subwoofer Pre-Amp. This makes a huge difference in the sound quality when adding a subwoofer. The other head units in this price range did not have a subwoofer Pre-Amp let alone 4 volt. One thing to note is the Bluetooth is BUILT IN. When you are researching for a head unit with bluetooth, make sure you know whether or not a separate accessory is required for it to work. Most of them in this price range are not built in. When using it in the car it sounds great. Sometimes I have to speak a little louder but not much more than normal speaking volume. There is an option to add a microphone which I may do eventually. After pairing my MyTouch 4G it connects and disconnects seamlessly. Playing my music from my phone via Bluetooth works very well with little or no static. When connected to Bluetooth you can listen to the radio, CD, iPod and when a call comes in it switches to the phone. This feature is one of my favorite because it makes driving and talking easy and safe. The iPod usability is great and easy to figure out and use. I have not used this feature much as I do not own an iPod but have tried it out a handful of times and I had no issues finding the song/artist/playlist I wanted. All in all Clarion has done a great job providing lots of options and features into a head unit in the mid/lower price range.

UPDATE:

Just bought one for my Dad's Father's Day gift and will buy another one for a new car we just bought.

Buy Clarion CZ501 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with USB and Bluetooth Now

I purchased this unit at audio express here in Phoenix. I wanted out of my factory stereo which did not have an aux. port and ended up purchasing this one with bluetooth built-in. Now I stream my music from my Windows phone without any cords. Clarity is great...I would say CD quality if not close. And the Hands-free calling is great. You pair your bluetooth enabled phone once and thats it. Now, every time I get in my truck and start it up, it automatically detects my phone. For being a built-in mic, the quality is very good. I've had the opportunity to have several lengthy calls while driving and only my daughter noticed a slight background noise during the conversation. But she said it was something that she had to listen for. None of my other friends and family could tell the diffence. My only complaing so far is that the wiring harness that fitted my truck did not allow the dimmer switch to be connected so the display is on the brightest level...but that is no fault of the unit only a wiring issue.

I replaced an old not so great Sony CD receiver in order to gain a USB and Bluetooth interface. What a great decision to go with the Clarian CZ501. I've been looking at possibilities for months but couldn't justify the $. This receiver was very inexpensive and had all the features I was looking for. So far I haven't played around with the iPod connection bucause I put all my favorite music on a couple of tiny 8Gb thumb drives and now there is no real need for the CD drive though it works well. It took about five minutes initially to connect my phone to Bluetooth and it connects flawlessly to the radio within a few seconds of starting the car and the faceplace located microphone works quite well with no real need to add an external microphone. It even seamlessly transfers an active call to Bluetooth when I get in the car without any action on my part. Automaticly switching the audio to the car speakers and microphone without any call disruption. I couldn't be more satisfied with this receiver and the sound is quite acceptable on my 25 year old Porsche 944 factory speakers.

Want Clarion CZ501 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with USB and Bluetooth Discount?

The sound quality is GREAT!!

I like all the options for getting music in my car.. Bluetooth, usb, Ipod via USB, cd, aux, HD radio hookup, Satellite hookup.

Stuff they could have done better:

1. Mic sensitivity for bluetooth to phone is adjustable, but still doesn't quite work right. It does have a port for an external wired mic.. may have to look into that..

2. Menu and buttons are counter-intuitive Try and set the clock! Menu button? nope.. try the "D" button.. hold it down.. then hit left and right then turn the dial to make the hours and minutes right.. then press... ??? nope.. that didn't work. try again.. nope.. again.. nope.. again!!?!? nope.. manual? no, I won't do that... hmm.. press and hold the dial? Yup.. that worked.. but man... why ? what? huh?

3. Remote does not seem to have the option to switch folders on a USB drive or CD, just have to ff or RR to move through all the songs to move to the next/previous folder.

4. Audio settings are mediocre. Fader and Balance are adjustable but as soon as you adjust it past two clicks, the other side shuts off completely. Not really much of a fader/balance. EQ settings are limited, but you can make your own, but it is a pain to get right.

5. The HPF and LPF are good, but it is pretty much all or nothing. LPF is for subwoofer output only and the HPF is for EVERYTHING else, front and back deck powered channels and the pre-amp hookups for the front and back channels to AMP. Cannot customize any further than that, so hope your speakers are all the same type!

6. What the hell is M--B EX? Magna Bass EX ? Manual had no mention of what it is. had to google it. "Magna Bass Expander" -Bass Boost essentially -works OK.

7. Bluetooth sound quality is good from my android phone. Deck can control the player but only for pause, play, next track/ff , prevous track/rr. Deck does not display song title via bluetooth connection.

8. Button labels on the deck are hard to read, but once you get used to them it isn't so bad.

9. Searching for folders/songs is a pain with the non-intuitive controls, but it is possible. I think?

Other random thoughts:

IPOD controls are better than USB or Bluetooth lets you select playlists etc, actually seems somewhat intuitive.

I do not have the Satellite nor HD Radio hookups,so I have no input on those.

This thing produces the cleanest, purest and most 0 distortion sound available. There is not another head unit out there under $5oo that even comes close. so simple to operate and everything works flawlessly. If u have an ounce of smarts and can read a manual you will have no problems. As for some reviews i have read stateing some problems i hate to say it, but they just dont know what they are doing. Even my 9 yr old grand daughter can operate the features on this unit. Hands down it deserves 10 stars. CDi wanted to add regarding playing the cd, the reason it takes a second or so to load is it is reading and storing the entire cd, wich is why you will not get noise from scratches and unlike other units when ff or rw you will notice song still plays without speed interuption as all other units will do. UPDATE: i keep reading about the dimmer control issues: ok people all vehichles have a dimmer wire. just most dont run thru the wireing harness unless you have a new vehichle with steering control. In most vehichles the wire is gray. ( take a second to look at your radio and or electrical schematics) most have 2 wires for control of dimming. One will dim when lights are turned on, the other will give total dimming control same as your dome/dash dimming control switch. when you figure it out dimming works great, just decide wich dimming you want to use. I control mine thru the dome/dash dimmer so i can dial in brightness to exactly what i like. (1991 chevy 3/4 ton pickup) REMEMBER ALL VEHICHLES HAVE DIMMER CONTROL

PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 Outlet

PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 OutletI bought this based on a recommendation from a co-worker who purchased this at a truck stop. I am so glad that I did. Its like a power strip...for your car! The 3 Edison plugs are spaced just right so that you can fit 3 wall warts, the USB power is a major plus, and the car power port on the other end is of course a necessity. I love the rubber cover for the USB jack for when it is not in use (It is made of thick, durable rubber, and mine doesn't even show signs of wear).

As part of my job, I often have to drive a truck. That being said the cord is long enough to either set the strip on the dash, or the floor. I have never had a problem with heat, fan noise, or power draw. It is also pretty heavy duty, especially considering it doesn't weigh very much at all. The strip has 4 screw slides on the back for more permanent mounting.

My only complaint (Other than not having more outlets, which just isn't practical running off of a car power port), is that the L.E.D. indicating that it is turned on could be brighter.

This item is awesome for long trips, or for when you have to wait in the truck for a long period. I would say this item is a must for truck drivers, long trips with kids, or those people with tons of gadgets. 5 out of 5, I would not hesitate to buy another one.

I've recently broke one of these by accidentally smashing the plug. Entirely my fault (not the product's). But it works so good, I bought another. Its so nice to charge and use a laptop (and other gadgets) while traveling. I've tried a few 100watt inverters to power my 85 watt computer, they have all failed me. This 150watt inverter does what I want.

The bad...

The fan is noisy, but so are most all inverters of this sort. Plugging it in is a little finicky to get a connection it could be my car's receptacle. The power light is dim; tough to see on sunny days.

The good...

I use this to power either of my two power-hungry laptops. It has never flinched nor got very warm. This item seems more durable than average. It has a heavy gauge power cord that is about 2.5 to 3 feet in length. The power light is dim; doesn't light up the car at night. The 12volt receptacle is nice.

Other...

The long shape may not work for everybody. I leave it in my car's jockybox, and it barely fits. I bought mine from Town Pump (gas station) for a higher price than Amazon's.

We were concerned that it would be powerful enough to run the PC but it worked perfectly. With 3 teenagers on a long road trip it was critical we had enough juice to power all the toys and cell phones. It powered my 17" Sony Vaio PC. We had a Samsung Tab plugged into the PC. Also kept a windows phone charged using the USB. The price on Amazon was incredible compared to the price in a the stores. I also like the "Power strip" layout and the Long cord. It could reach from the front cigarette lighter to the back seat. I also really like all the outlet options, I can charge anything anywhere. I'm going to start taking this on business trips as well. We are always having issues with enough power outlets for our PC and Iphones.

The PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 Outlet is a decent power inverter. It allows you to charge most things on the go. If you have a larger laptop make sure you only charge it while it's off, otherwise the inverter gets a little rough on your car battery. But if you have something like a small camera or cell phone that needs charged this works great.

Want PowerDrive RPPD150 150-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter Strip w/USB Port and 3 Outlet Discount?

Solidly built, well designed and I tested it with a volt meter and found it to produce 117 VAC (AC volts) on all three outlets. I did not test the 12VDC port or the USB port. The manual is well written and informative. The power cable is 4 feet long.

This unit produces a modified square wave to approximate a sine wave and product literature claims this is sufficient to power "most" laptops and electronic devices safely (some electronics are very sensitive to wave form). I will be using the PowerDrive to power a recently purchased Dell Vostro laptop. My expectation is that this advertised to run electronic devices safely so I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Battery Quick Connect Plug Kit from Driver Recovery Products

Battery Quick Connect Plug Kit from Driver Recovery ProductsWhile the product is in fact Anderson type connectors, the ones you will receive only accept up to 4awg wire. I bought based on the description and planned to install 2awg wire. Of course, it doesn't fit.

The plugs work just fine. The cap protectors do not work so well though. They are manufactured too loose and fall off.

Solid heavy duty piece of equipment. I know that these connectors are not compatible with the Superwinch connectors, however; I modified the Superwinch pieces slightly by removing half of the pole divider with a hobby knife and now they work great together. These are China made.

I'm using these for an amp quick disconnect for when I need to use the back of the suv. Beast-ass connectors. NEEDS a special crimp tool or maybe bolt cutters because they are real strong. I used a torch and soldered the connectors. I found it tough to install the connections into the housing so I tapped them in with a rubber mallet.

I used this for my winch application on my trailor. I needed something that could quickly connect and release from the bed of my truck to my winch on my trailor. The plug is a little too small to fit a TRUE 2 gauge, but still gives a clean look and full functionality. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.

I was floored by how inexpensive and easy-to-program these clickers are. We pulled them out of the package and less than five minutes later they were fully operational and on on our keyrings. The easy-to-understand step-by-step instructions made it very simple to do.

Which got me wondering why the dealership wanted over $80 apiece for these things, with an additional $30 apiece to "program" them. Hmmmm.

This case fit my Roadmate 5045 PERFECTLY. Snug as a bug. The shell has a soft feel to it but is rigid. I would trust it to protect my GPS in everyday situations. The zippers concern me. They feel balky but may smooth out over time. The power cord seems like a dollar store product and did not charge well. It worked with some jiggling but not enough to utilize. I'm tossing it. Case looked good and should serve its purpose.

Garmin Nuvi 760 Battery Replacement Kit with Installation Video, Tools, and Extended Life Battery.

Garmin Nuvi 760 Battery Replacement Kit with Installation Video, Tools, and Extended Life Battery. #361-00019-11
  • Guaranteed for One Full Year
  • High Capacity 1250 mAh 3.7V Battery
  • Replaces Garmin Nuvi 760 Battery
  • Kit Includes How To Video Instructions on DVD and Tools
  • Warranty and Instructional Video Available Only With Kit Purchased from Innovate88

My Nuvi 760 really never worked quite right, even when new. After purchase, I noticed complaints online regarding the battery and its rather poor capacity. What concerned me most was that the battery pack would get VERY hot during charging (which Garmin considers normal) and then would only last fifteen minutes before low battery shut down. My GPS was not the subject of the recent Garmin battery recall, so that was not an option.

I wanted to update the maps because I really do like the GPS, so I had a decision to make: Trash it and get a new one, or attempt to replace the battery, test it and then update the maps if successful.

I went online to Amazon and found this kit for $20.00 or so and thought, well, I'll try it and if it doesn't work, I'm only out $20.00 and I saved the cost of a map update. I ordered the kit and received it in two days, which I consider quite fast.

I opened the kit and found the shim tool, two screwdrivers, a CD and the battery pack itself. I put the CD in my DVD player and watched the installation video. Then I got to work and opened the case. Everything went just like they said in the video. Screws came out, case opened, battery came out, replaced the battery, snapped the case back together and installed the screws. Really easy. But my experience may not be typical, as I used to work on aviation electronics, so my easy may not be your easy.....

I plugged it in and it has worked flawlessly ever since. It no longer gets hot while charging and goes at least five hours before low battery shutdown.

I am very happy with this product and would definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to replace the battery in their Garmin Nuvi. It is very inexpensive, high quality, and you get to keep the tools. At least I think you do. No one has called asking for them back......

Even if you have never worked on electronics before, take a whack at it. Just be patient and follow the instructions. It's only $20.00 and you just might save your favorite GPS.

I was so distraught to have my Garmin GPS constantly going off due to a "low battery". It was relatively new to us, and loved it when we took road trips a few times a year. However when checking with Garmin, they said the battery could not be replaced and we needed to buy a new one. I felt this was ridiculous.

After some research I came upon this Battery Replacement Kit. I was a bit skeptical but after reading the reviews and knowing it had a Guarantee, I ordered the kit. It came very promptly and was installed in just a few minutes after watching the installation CD. As others had said, you do need some double sided tape to hold the battery in place. I had read that when I purchased, so I had some on hand. In replacing the battery, we did not lose any of the previously entered information, such as settings, locations, and favorite places.

I would highly recommend this purchase if your unit is failing. Now I have the tools, and if I need another battery in the future, I will order the battery alone, which is very inexpensive. Also, if you have friends with with a Garmin, you can loan them your tools and they can just order the battery.

August CR150R FM Transmitter - Wireless MP3 Player for In-Car use with SD/MMC Card Reader / USB Por

August CR150R FM Transmitter - Wireless MP3 Player for In-Car use with SD/MMC Card Reader / USB Port / Remote ControlIt doesn't work. I wasted my money and its more trouble than its worth to return it. I certainly got what I paid for this time. : (

I bought this as I was getting bored of the radio and my car doesn't have an AUX in or card reader. I loaded up some songs onto an SD card, put it on shuffle and now have my favorite songs with no commercial breaks! Its really simple to set up, you just find an empty radio station, tune it in and away you go. It's a really useful gadget and for the price, I couldn't ask for more.

I was able to successfully read a FAT32 formatted 8GB USB stick in this device, but I returned it for the following reasons:

Unit does not save the last song played. Every time power is interrupted and reapplied playback starts from track 1. I had about 7GB of music to listen to and starting on track 1 every time I started the vehicle was tedious.

Starting on track 1 wouldn't be so bad if random worked but the random function does not work as expected, most of the time I couldn't tell a difference between the "Random" and the "Play All" setting

The unit supports amplification of the source being sent through the FM transmitter but I found that the transmission was too weak to provide a loud enough FM signal..I had to turn the volume up on my car stereo to half way or more on some of the tracks where normally I never use 1/4 volume for direct line-in type sources.

I tried multiple FM frequencies and it still was not as good as a line in cable or another standalone FM transmitter I've used with the same vehicle in the past.

I was initially impressed with the August CR150 Car MP3 Player & FM Transmitter with Card Reader but as time went on became less so. Mainly due to its lack of features. It is not easy to read the display for one thing. And if power is disrupted due to hitting a pothole you have to start from the beginning of the track again. Very annoying when you're listening to an e-book or a lecture. What would be nice is for it to remember where it left off when power is disrupted. A larger display would be nice as well. But it does perform well wrt sending a signal to your radio. Overall, given the price, it serves its purpose pretty well. Just don't hit any potholes while driving.

Husky Liners Classic Style Custom Fit Molded Front Floor Liner for Select Ford Models (Black)

Husky Liners Classic Style Custom Fit Molded Front Floor Liner for Select Ford ModelsI was looking to put floor liners in my 1995 Bronco XLT since the carpets took a beating last winter. I wanted Weathertech brand because I've had good luck with them in the past. There was no option available for the Bronco though. The Husky liners work and fit exactly the same. I'm very satisfied with this product so far. We'll see how it holds up through the winter.

Note: This product fits Broncos with the dash mounted transfer case, but has a small side area (clearly marked) that can be trimmed to fit the floor mounted lever.

This is my second pair. My first pair was for a 2003 Ford f250 super duty and this pair is for a 1994 Ford F350. Both pairs fit well, are sturdy, don't slide, and are tough.

Nextbase CLICK9 DUO DELUXE - Dual 9" Screen Dual Portable DVD Players with Stanchion Mount - All Re

Nextbase CLICK9 DUO DELUXE - Dual 9' Screen Dual Portable DVD Players with Stanchion Mount - All Region - 110 - 240V
  • Play two different movies or share the same movie on two screens
  • Attach and remove DVD player without cable hanging
  • Excellent TFT screen with LED backlight. Built-in IR tranmitter.
  • Top loaded multi-region DVD player
  • Comes with Stanchion Mounts: Passed crash tests and proven to be safe for your kids

I purchased a Nextbase Click9 Duo about a year ago. I absolutely loved the units and the flexibility they provided for my family. The units performed great until about 3 months ago (8 months of ownership and very light use). Now, neither unit functions properly, each with it's own problem. At that time I was still within the factory warranty period. I sent an email to Nextbase USA regarding the matter with no response. I also tried calling the customer support number only to reach a generic voicemail box. I left a message and, again, received no reply. I continued to reach someone through those two means for about a month with not one response. I then attempted to contact Nextbase USA through their Amazon and eBay stores. I did receive a very slow response from the eBay store requesting more information as well as when and where I bought the item from (which happened to be from the eBay store). I provided the requested information and a week later I was told I need to contact customer support using the Nextbase USA website. I explained that I have tried to do so for nearly two months (at that point) and received no response. From that point on I have not been able to get in contact with the eBay store either.

I bought these units with the hope that a more expensive unit would last longer than the cheaper units I've owned in the past. I got about the some life out of these units, for three times the price, and half the customer service of any other unit on the market. STAY AWAY FROM NEXTBASE! NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR HARD EARNED MONEY!

Very well made and smartly designed car entertainment system. A breeze to install and easy to remove and store. My brother saw it in my car and is going to order one for his family. Picture quality is very good and DVD did not skip once on our 4 hour car trip.used infrared head phones that worked perfectly with the system.

Only complaint/wish is that the system does not have a built in av input. I had to buy a male to male connector to setup and use a video game system.

Overall very happy with design and quality.

Stanchion mount and cable yo-yo works great with no hassle. The mount could have used little more support to minimize the vertical vibration, but still superior to others that I have used in the past. Overall, I think I made the right decision in choosing this product over $2,600 rear seat entertainment option. Of course, built-in option offers some advantages like in-dash controls and integrated sound. But, if you are not too concerned about them like me, this product is definitely the winner in terms of the cost-to-benefit. Picture quality is great and love the 9" screen. I considered many options including those headrest models but couldn't convince myself to go with others. Juggling with matching interior color, wiring/installation, losing the factory headrest, and not being able to use the players anywhere else other than in the car were some of the things that I wanted to avoid.

Want Nextbase CLICK9 DUO DELUXE - Dual 9" Screen Dual Portable DVD Players with Stanchion Mount - All Re Discount?

This is my first review of the nextbase click9 duo deluxe. I received this product 2 days after ordering, shipping was free! and delivery was SUPERFAST!! much to the happiness of my 2 daughters and that happiness is what it is all about ;-)

The packaging looks fantastic.. is this important? I think it is! It is nice when you order a product and the company actually put time and effort into the presentation in my eyes they will do the same to the actual product itself. (that is why I am a Apple fanatic and do my research before buying anything not made by Apple)

Product came in 5 boxes. Opening the boxes with the monitors was a nice surprise as well..... monitors and all accessories are already packed in their own bag, nicely organized I only had to zip the bag open and everything was ready to go.

Installing the mounts (I got the package with the stanchion mounts) is a breeze .... is comes with a allen key and takes honestly 5 minutes for both sides. When attached to the headrest supports the mounts look and feel solid. And the power adapters are solid and easy to insert. I don't like the wire much...but that's the only way to connect anything that needs power.... in 30 years from now power will probably also be wireless but that's for my daughters generation and I will probably be driven by them watching the rear seat entertainment system. LOL.

The monitors also come with standard mounts and power adapters that you can attach to the headrest with 2 velcro straps and this is a great option for the 2nd car or 1st car if you don't mind the velcro straps over the headrest....which I do mind in a luxury car, but don't mind in my 2nd car. Now the system can be used in 2 cars without any headaches of taking the power adapters from one car to the next.... just take out the monitors and click them in the standard mounts.

This is where my review stops.. I haven't had the change to test the system and will (if I don't forget) do this in another review. I never write reviews, but in this case I did simply because it was very hard to find a system this nice and the companies web presence isn't that great.... the actual monitors, adapters and mounts are much much nicer than portrayed on theirs and other websites, which is to bad, because I made me delay my purchase for about 2 months and almost called it off.

I drove about 60 miles with the monitors attached to the mounts (without rear seat passengers and the monitors off) but the shake is minimal and they stay in place perfectly.

that's it.... will test the workings tomorrow and if I don't forget will post an additional review...hopefully as positive as this one.

i put in my bmw x5 and they worked great!! they keep the kids entertained on very long trips.great product...

Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black, Retail Packaging)

Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth SpeakerphoneThis is a review for Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone

I'm not one to take my time to write reviews, but after purchasing three of these speakerphones I thought maybe it would be helpful to tell you why this is the best speakerphone I have ever used.

We live in California and, by law, have to have our Cell Phones connected by Bluetooth if we use them in the car. I have probably used 4-5 different brands and configurations in the past 5 years all with mixed results, until I came across the Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone. I really dislike using in-ear Bluetooth devices (for many reasons, but mainly because they interfere with hearing and make you look like a . . . . ). Speakerphones I have used in the past (including the less expensive Jabra products) seemed to never clearly pick-up my voice and transmit it to the caller. When I purchased my first Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone (after reading a glowing CNET Review) I started using it as soon as I charged it for a couple of hours. It is the easiest, most user friendly product I have bought in a long time.

Getting up and running requires:

1. Charge unit (USB)

2. Turn on Cell Phone and put in pairing mode

3. Turn on Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone it will find the phone and announce "Connected"

4. That's it, your done.

Now to use it you only have to do one thing and remember 2 words:

1. Attach the Speakerphone to your visor and turn it on.

2. Remember 2 words when it announces by name an incoming call. a) Answer (connects you to an incoming call) or b) Cancel (phone goes straight to you voice answer message).

It really is that easy. There is a lot more that the Speakerphone will do, and there is a one year subscription to a second party company that keeps all your contacts + more so you can call one number and transfer to anyone in your contacts, send text, etc. But you really don't need to know or use any of that.

Oh, I forgot, the main reason I like the Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone is that my clients have no clue that I am even on a Bluetooth device when I talk to them in the car. No extraneous noise, no wind noise, just a clear voice. That, plus the ease of use is why I keep buying more of these and giving them to my wife, children, etc.

Did I mention that once you turn the Jabra Freeway on you don't have to touch/recharge it for a month or more (my experience, moderate use). It turns itself on when I get in the car, and turns itself off when I exit (motion detector).

Pros: All of the above. Plus, iTune music sounds pretty good through the 3 speakers and podcasts are great (you can also transmit the music/podcast to you FM radio) the Speakerphone "knows" to to stop the music/podcast if a call comes in.

Cons: It takes a couple of minutes for the speakerphone to turn-off automatically when you you leave the car. For a short time, if you are fairly close to the car (in you home or office) the unit still picks-up calls. This has happened to me only once, and my iPhone asks if I want to not use the Bluetooth on the screen, so it really is a minor annoyance.

I got the Freeway along with my iPhone 4S. It connected easily, and reconnects every time I get into my car. I sit down, and by the time I turn the ignition, it's reconnected (and lets you know by saying so). It works great as a speakerphone, callers sound good and I sound good to them. The volume goes up pretty high so you can still hear fine if you have a loud car. If you press and hold the big phone button for about 2 seconds, Siri will activate if you have it on your iPhone. Siri will use the Freeway's mic and speaker to talk to you. It's great to just press the button overhead and be able to have all of Siri's functions. If you're listening to music while you activate Siri, the music will fade out, and when you're done with it, the music fades back in.

Playing music is fairly mediocre through the speaker. While I didn't expect amazing sound out of the tiny package, it's hardly the amazing surround sound that Jabra advertises. Most songs are going to sound fine, but if you have anything with heavy bass, it gets pretty distorted. It's good enough to listen to music on my commute, and more than enough to listen to podcasts with.

The battery life is great, I seem to be getting the full 14 hours. Playing music counts as talk time, and when you check the battery status, the Freeway gives it to you in terms of talk time left. So if you have a full charge and drive a half hour with music, it'll tell you that you have 13 1/2 hours of talk time left. Since it shuts off soon after you get out of your car, it's not draining battery while idle.

As a side note, the unit won't shut up if you flip your visor down. I've never had it shut off on me while I had the visor flipped down facing both the windshield and the side window. You just have to be careful not to mash buttons when you're gripping the visor.

Overall it's good as a speakerphone, extension of Siri, and voice-only audio such as podcasts. Music could sound better, but I understand there's only so much you can get out of a tiny speaker. I haven't used any other Bluetooth speakerphones to compare this to, but I'm pretty happy with it.

The Jabra Freeway is very sleek and comes with a free and optional one-year subscription to VoiceAssist.

Setting the unit up was easy.

1. Before I could use the Jabra Freeway, I charged it for two hours using the supplied USB cable with car charger.

2. Next I made sure the cell phone was Bluetooth-enabled and turned on the Jabra unit.

3. It immediately went into pairing mode. As it is pairing with the phone device, the prompts on the phone needed to be followed and the supplied security code had to be entered (not everyone will have to enter a security code; it depends on the phone)

4. After this I began making and answering calls using voice commands, checking the battery power of the unit, etc. To make a call, I had to press the Voice button to wake up the unit and say "phone commands." If I was unsure of how to speak to the unit I would say "What can I say?" and it would give me options.

What I found very frustrating was:

1. Once I was done with a call, ending the call is not hands free. I couldn't say "hang-up, or cancel, or end" because that doesn't work. Instead I had to press the "answer end button" (which is the "phone icon" on the Jabra device) or end the call via the phone end button.

2. I also disliked having to press the Voice button every time I wanted to make a call because this meant it was not totally hands free. The only hands free part is if someone is calling you, the unit then automatically awakes and you can tell it to "answer" or "ignore" the incoming call.

3. Many times I asked the unit to make a call. Twice it brought up the EZ tip calculator, once it brought up the one-minute beep "application," and another time it brought up some other application on the phone that I didn't ask for. Another time I tried to call someone and instead it brought up the address book and rambled off both the mobile and work number without giving me the option to dial either one.

What I really loved was the optional VoiceAssist package even though I had difficulty getting this set up because the code to redeem the free one-year subscription was hidden underneath a sticker either Amazon or the manufacturer put on the box. However, VoiceAssist has the best live customer service around. In fact we called each other almost five times to get this situation resolved in a few hours. Hopefully, new purchasers won't have this experience where the offer code is hidden between stickers and impossible to read even after being held up to the light.

Below are the steps I took to get VoiceAssist to work:

1. I had to first redeem the free offer code on the box by going to [....].

2. Once signed in online to [....], I imported all my Gmail contacts into the VoiceAssist application and also set up a connection to my review_maven twitter account ([....]).

3. Once registered and after I cleaned up the Gmail import which had about an 85% accuracy rate, I then needed to program the number of 949-257-0923 under the name of VoiceAssist into the Bluetooth phone.

4. After this I had a lot of fun:

I used the Jabra unit to call VoiceAssist.

Once connected I used another set of VoiceAssist commands to "call" people in my contact list (they had to have a phone # in the Gmail contact listed that was imported), to "post to Twitter," to "read my e-mail" on Gmail--which it read very well (except it said it couldn't read the pictures), and to send an email, which it sent okay though some of my message was garbled. However, since an MP3 was attached to the email, the person receiving it could play that to get the full message.

The two posts to my Twitter account were okay, buy it got VoiceAssist wrong and typed voices instead and it typed Jabra as Java. You can look on the review_maven account to see the posts for May 28. 2011.

I didn't have the phone functionality to try the FM Transmitter or play music features of the Jabra device.

Below are some of the key features that I liked and some things I disliked:

PROS:

1. The Jabra unit is pretty easy to set up

2. The Jabra Freeway has a long battery life (about 14 to 17 hours)

3. You can pair two Bluetooth phones to the device with the last phone paired being the primary one

4. Jabra Freeway comes with a car charger for charging in your vehicle or with a 12Volt Battery Pack; the USB cable that is used to plug in the car adapter can be used without the adapter for charging with your PC

5. A free one-year subscription to VoiceAssist is supplied with purchase

6. Voice Assist understands commands better than the Jabra unit itself

7. I could check and send email and post to Twitter with VoiceAssist (Posting to Facebook is also possible.)

8. VoiceAssist provides SUPERB customer service.

CONS:

1. VoiceAssist setup was difficult and the instructions that came with the device did not tell you to program in the telephone number to VoiceAssist. Instead the Jabra instructions tell you to call VoiceAssist making you assume it's already pre-programed in the device.

2. Managing your contacts online in the VoiceAssist web site is somewhat cumbersome as the tool is in its infancy. For instance, every time I edited one of my 100+ contacts it kept going back to the first one after I saved the edit--then I had to scroll through the entire list again to go back to where I wanted to in the contact list.

3. Answer/End button is not intuitive on the Jabra unit (it's the phone icon on the Jabra Freeway); although the instructions do tell you where it's located.

4. The Jabra Freeway did not always understand my voice commands Voice Assist understood my commands much better but that still was not perfect)

5. Jabra is from the UK and only an automated help line is provided along with a website. Other than this you can send an email and wait for a response--no live support here

In summary, although Jabra will work with any Bluetooth phone, I did not feel I could get it to work exceptionally well with the Verizon LG phone I tried it with. I cannot be sure whether it was because of my or my boyfriend's voices (as we both tried it), the phone, or just the functionality of the device. Despite this, the Jabra Freeway is a very sleek unit and I felt that it responded better the more familiar I got with the device. In addition, the other reviewers are raving about the Freeway. Although VoiceAssist was not perfect, I absolutely loved that optional add-on.

Updated May 30, 2011 I sent an email to Jabra with two simple questions to see how responsive their email support was and I can tell you it's great. I sent it over the weekend and got a response this morning. The only thing that wasn't great was that one of my simple questions was answered wrong. I had asked where the answer/end button was and according to the manual it is the phone icon on the Jabra device; however the reponse I got was to "Slide the On/Off power switch to turn the speakerphone on or off" so the question was either misunderstood or the tech did not know the answer. I think it's the former.

Updated November 7, 2011 I recommended this to a former colleague and this is what he said about the device verbatim. "Regarding the Jabra device, it has worked very well. I will admit, I have not used any of the advanced features much (other than initially playing with them) as honestly I have not needed them. It has strictly been used as a straight bluetooth device and for that purpose it has worked extremely well. The speaker quality is above and beyond competing devices and the functionality (recognizing bluetooth connections regularly, turning off when it doesn't detect a device, etc) are features that are useful and allow it to stick out from the pack of competing devices. Overall, it has proven useful when I needed it."

I don't give 5 stars that often, but I love this thing.

The calls are very clear as advertised and they can hear me fine as well. It's fantastic being able to finally answer calls hands free in the car; no having to have an earpiece or anything.

I love that you can connect two Bluetooth devices at once; I don't have a smartphone, but I can connect my basic cellphone with Bluetooth to this device, as well as my iPod Touch to send music to it!

The size makes it great to take it with you anywhere and use it as a speakerphone/speakers at home.

It looks great on the sun visor of the car, as well on a desk.

There is also a built-in FM transmitter. Personally, the transmitter doesn't seem that much of an advancement to send a clear strong signal than other FM transmitters that I've owned (still getting a static or fuzzy sound on a higher volume), but still, it is definitely a nice bonus to have!

The device is also firmware upgradeable if there are any improvements in the future.

It uses a Micro USB to charge.

If you ever feel like using your cellphone in the car, when you think about the safety and traffic ticket costs, this product is a no brainer worthy investment. The versatility of this product being suitable for home use just makes it even better. Fantastic design.

Recommended.

Want Jabra FREEWAY Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black, Retail Packaging) Discount?

Jabra I stand up and give you a standing ovation for the Jabra Freeway Speakerphone. I previously was using the Jabra CRUISER2 Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone but sadly had to give it up to my dear husband who refused to use a headset. I did not mind because this way I was able to acquire the newer model. The Jabra Freeway is the newest model since the Cruiser 2. It is a tad bit larger, but offers a few more features such as automatic turn on and off with the built-in motion sensor, and acoustically optimized HD quality microphones and surround sound speakers. You pretty much give all the commands by your voice. For example when you call comes in, you can just say "answer" or "ignore". If you want to make a call, just hit the "Voice" button once and say "phone commands", then say "call mobile". It is that easy. That is one big difference between the Cruiser 2 and the Freeway. With the Cruiser 2 you had to hold and count the seconds on the action button to make it do certain commands such as last redial or voice dial. With the Freeway everything is done with the touch of one button and I don't have to hold it for 1, 2 or 3 seconds!

I got so excited about talking about the actual usage of the speakerphone that I almost forgot to mention the setup. I am using it with the Verizon iPhone 4G and setup with so simple it took less than one minute. The automated programmed voice is very clear to hear and understand. This is the first time I have had to actually turn the volume down on a speakerphone because it was too loud! The sound is crystal clear. I really do not know how anyone can give this item a bad review unless it does not work with their particular brand of phone. in regards to the FM transmitter functions, it works as well as other types of transmitters I have tried. There is NO wireless FM transmitter out there that is not going to be static free. Think about, the only way is be able to be static free is to be directly plugged into your radio and not be "wirelessly". This speakerphone will be primarily used for phone calls and not for my the FM transmitter. I can hear perfectly loud and clear by the units speakers and have no need to be using it to play my iTunes music through it. the speakers alone will be sufficient for me to hear my calls loud and clearly.

Now lets get to the Voice Assist. Forget about it. Not worth it. I did sign up for it since it is a free trial offer for one-year but I don't see any use for it. I asked myself do I really need to urgently send someone a text message or post a status on Facebook? Is it that important that I can't wait till I am out of the car and on my computer, iPad or iPhone. I can wait I am not that important to be posting about my life's every moment for all to know. Also, what most might not realize is that you have to call a landline phone number that uses airtime off your cellular plan in order to use the Voice Assist. Signing up was not as much of a hassle as some made it sound. Just make sure to read the instructions on the Voice Assist website and you should have no problems. You have to download the firmware upload and apply it, THEN enter your UPC code after the firmware update is applied. This is for units purchased from Amazon ONLY.

YOU WILL LOVE THIS SPEAKERPHONE. I am curious to see what is next for Jabra since I can not imagine how something so perfect could be improved. Well now that I think about it, maybe they will come up with "Park Assist" on their next units. :-)

EDIT: I almost forgot to add one more thing. This comes with a really nice long micro USB cord. Not one of those "bungee" ones either. It is straight and long enough to fit plugged into a 12V that is inside my center console glovebox while charging the speakerphone still clipped to my sunvisor (while parked of course).

Husky Liners Custom Fit WeatherBeater Molded Front and Second Seat Floor Liner Set for Select Subar

Husky Liners Custom Fit WeatherBeater Molded Front and Second Seat Floor Liner Set for Select Subaru Legacy/Outback ModelsI had originally planned to buy some of the custom WeatherTech floor liners that I had seen advertised on TV (having never heard of the Husky liners). When I took my car in to get tinting and a clear-bra put on, I asked the guy there if he had any experience with the WeatherTechs. He indicated that they were good but he preferred the Husky liners.

After doing some research, I decided on the Husky liners as they cover up the floor-mat retention hole with rubber (so it can't leak through) and they have a bunch of pointy cones on the bottom that prevent the floor mats from shifting around.

Like other liners in this price range they are custom fit to the vehicle (2011 Subaru Legacy in my case) and they fit perfectly in the foot wells. The rear floor-mat is all one piece so it also covers up the hump in the rear footwell. By default they cover up the gas lever on the floor, but they have an area where you can cut it if you want. I leave mine covered and just reach underneath for the lever. With the high side-walls and the covered up holes these should hold a substantial amount of winter muck.

The only downside I can see is that I wish the material was a little thicker/sturdier as I'm wary of these wearing through quickly. Only time will tell how well they hold up.

Good fit. Good quality. Easy to install. Very heavy material and molded up on the edges to form a lip to prevent water, snow or spills from reaching the carpet underneath.

I bought these the day after I bought my 2012 Outback and 18 months later I still think they were an excellent purchase. I got them in black which does show some dirt when dirty, but cleans up very easily. They also fit perfectly. My buddy has weathertechs in his truck and they feel too plastic-y and slide around a bit unlike the huskyliners which have a very grippy spiked backing. I have recommended them to friends and got my mom a set for her new Camry (in grey, a good color choice if it goes w/ your interior). One tip for any type of liners, if you get your car detailed make sure they only wipe them down and not "dress" with some armor-all type spray, otherwise they get slick.

I ordered molded liners for a 2012 Subaru Legend. When the arrived, it was a simple matter to pull out the old carpet mats and slip these into place.

Can't speak to their long-term durability, but so far very pleased with them.

AutoXray AX7000 Tech Scan Diagnostic Code Scanner with Live, Record and Playback Sensor Data Capabi

AutoXray AX7000 Tech Scan Diagnostic Code Scanner with Live, Record and Playback Sensor Data Capability and SD Card Slot for UpgradesI bought this tool because I needed both OBDI and OBDII capabilities for my cars. For my older pre-1996 OBDI cars this tool not only reads diagnostic trouble codes but also streams live powertrain data (PID) such as throttle position, rpm, manifold pressure, coolant temperature, closed vs open loop mode, oxygen sensor voltage swings, short and long term fuel trim, and so on. Most tools will show these data for OBDII but this tool also shows these data for OBDI, which sets this tool apart in my opinion. I am waiting for the add-on SD cards to be released so I can retrieve enhanced (manufacturer specific) data streams (PID) for my OBDII Honda, not just the EPA-mandated generic data streams. Even without the SD card it shows enhanced (manufacturer specific) diagnostic trouble codes and generic stream data for import vehicles. So I think this tool shows great promise in terms of flexibility and upgrade-ability, and it has performed well on my cars so far. The boot code and program firmware can be upgraded over the internet through a USB cable to the PC using the recently released "Scanning Suite" software, which can be downloaded at no additional cost. I had trouble updating the firmware at first, getting the message "cannot connect to device" and had to call the SPX helpline. They were extremely helpful and solved the problem. It turns out that after you put the tool into "program mode" in prepration for the firmware update, you need to press ENTER. That causes the tool to power down. Then when you turn it back on, it boots up in program mode and the firmware upgrade can proceed. The tool and assorted cables are sturdily built, and would stand up to professional use I would think. Successfully captures and displays approximately 40 frames of OBDII engine PID data from my Honda.

UPDATE: I assembled myself a new computer based on the Windows 7 64-bit operating system, and found that I can't update the scan tool using the Autoxray PC software "Scanning Suite" because they do not yet have 64-bit drivers. However, they told me they are working on this (maybe as part of updates to Scanning Suite?).

UPDATE Aug 27, 2011: AutoXray has canceled development of the HONDA enhanced OBD data flash card for this tool, which is dissappointing considering how many HONDAs are on the road. Bad business decision. And here it is almost September 2011 and AutoXray still has not released Scanning Suite drivers for Windows7 64-bit operating systems. SPX: This could be a great scan tool if you would only INVEST in it's development at the level it deserves.

UPDATE Jan 31, 2012: AutoXray has obviously abandoned this tool. It is still available, but even if at a discounted price it is not worth it because it has been made obsolete. Any mp3 player can communicate with Windows 7 64 bit operating system so what's the problem with SPX and this scan tool?

UPDATED:

Below is my unedited original review. Since written, they have released a software update that addresses a lot of the issues I had experienced. There is now most of the GM enhanced data available, but there are still a few glitches here and there. Freeze frame data from GM vehicles does not work. It will provide the correct code on the FF, but the captured data values are non-sensical. The TCC duty cycle % is not right, the PCS solenoid duty cycle % is not right, and a few others. Most of the data is valid, but keep in mind that this appears to still be "beta" class software on the tool.

ORIGINAL:

This unit does not include the GM enhanced data for OBD-II you can only see the generic OBD-II info, which does NOT include the transmission parameters, misfire data, or TCC PWM data.

I have been in contact with their support dept, and was advised to try a different year of vehicle none of which worked. The tech also stated that there would be a software update released in the next few weeks; I do not know that I will wait that long.

The vehicle I am working with is a 1997 Olds Bravada. Not exotic, but simply a gussied up S-10 Blazer. I have ran it as both an S and a T series truck with no luck as the Bravada is not listed specifically. Likewise selecting, as advised by the techs 1996 and 1998, I either get an error with no data, or the same garbage data when 1997 is selected.

If I select the manufacturer specific data, I get info in line with the other reviewer with the 454 in the 99 truck. My cam retard was like 6700 degrees. The ignition voltage is 10.6v when running or not, also stays rock steady at 10.6V even during cranking. Any tech would be able to tell you if voltage @ rest is 10.6, it will drop below 10.6 while cranking. ECT is 103 degrees no matter what. The throttle position is set at 2v or 41.8% no matter what you do. If you select the vehicle as generic OBD-II you get correct voltages, temps and TPS values, but as stated above, you do NOT get transmission or other enhanced info.

Enhanced GM specific info is the reason I bought this tool. At this time it cannot deliver on the advertised promises.

I purchased this unit as a mid-range priced scanner/code reader. I was disappoint with the unit and it was returned to Amazon.

Reasons:

You can not print output from scanner as featured. Print option software has not been released by AutoXray

There are no updates available past 2006 models for the base scanner or for the optional SD cards

There is no printed manual with the unit. There is a quick-start guide but you most download the users manual from AutoXray's website. If you print it out it is a book!

I expected more out of SPX/AutoXray, disappointed with this product as currently supported.

Well. I bought this item on Amazon and that transaction went great. I love Amazon.com. When I received the scanner and used for the first time it kept freezing up. None of the buttons worked. I had to disconnect and star over. I contacted Xray tech support and he recommended installing batteries. This did not make sense to me since the unit gets power from the car. I went along and did it. No help. He them recomended reinstalling software. A poduct out of the factory already needs software update? whatever, but I'll go along with it. Problem is I run windows 7 and they are not geared up for win 7. In other words I can't do an updated. nice... I send it back. I am very dissapointed. This scanner is not a good tool and I bought their top of the line scanner the 7000. I am saving up my money and I'll buy a scanner from Snap on tools or Matco. They cost more but they'll work. This Xray, in my opinion, from my experince is JUNK.

I needed a scan tool to set timing on a 1996 GMC Yukon. This tool worked great for that purpose. That is where the tool stops being a future winner. i have had this tool for over a year now and still have not seen any tool updates that would correct the numerous issues that i have passed on to tech support personnel. The print capture program in the software does not work properly. If you own a computer with Win7 64bit your out of luck getting software to install. Autoxray will tell you to go to the Actron site and load the 64 bit usb drivers from there and use them. Ya right, still no install. I work with computers and will tell you the install package never installs the programs in the correct folder in Win7 64 bit to work. As for tech support, these poor guys cringe when you call for help. They can only answer simple questions. As for SPX, they should be ashamed of their customer service and support for this tool. This tool is obsolete and i would not recommend it to anyone who is looking to the future. When i find a resonable tool to replace this piece of crap, then look for my tool on e-bay.

Summary is as follows:

Good for scanning on most OBD-II vehicles

PID data cannot always be trusted

Forget getting a could print capture

Forget getting it to run on 64 bit windows machines

SPX does not give a crap about supporting this tool

Wagan 2003-6 400W Continuous Power Inverter

Wagan 2003-6 400W Continuous Power InverterGreat, durable device that is sure to last. The only downside is the loud fan and bulkiness. Not too noticeable if cars a/c is running on high or if music is playing.

I purchased this unit to provide AC power for my computer and recharge my cell phones while on long cross-country trips. The unit has worked perfectly and provided reliable power for my equipment despite some rough highways and temperatures that ranged from the low teens to well over 100 degrees F. The unit has two USB ports whose power many cell phones will accept and two AC plugs for those that will not. I found that a 150 Watt inverter that I had picked up on special a few years ago was fine for one device, but would overload on two. The 400W inverter handles the 10W iPad charger or Dell laptop power block as well as two cell phones simultaneously. I stow the inverter under the passenger seat which also mitigates the noise from the fan, but you must periodically check the red and black nuts for the DC power terminal as they will loosen over time and bumpy roads. The unit has been reliable now over 16,000 miles and still going strong.

I bought this for a road trip across the country. Didn't really have much time to shop around. It's a solid piece and offers more than most of the power inverters in the price range (at least to my limited view). Well powered USB inputs. One thing to note however is that this inverter is LOUD. Not bad if you're traveling at 65 MPH down the highway with the music blasting and the windows down, but louder than you'd prefer for simple "parked" applications.

Good piece and I'm pleased with the performance, but if you need something quiet shop around.

So when I received this inverter I expected the fan to be a little loud, based on previous reviews, and it was. Not extremely loud, but I decided to fix the problem. A screwdriver opens the case and reveals a small 40 mm fan. Probably the cheapest fan you could find. I picked up a 40 mm computer case fan from Amazon for $7 and swapped them out. I took about 10 minutes. This new fan is only 14 dBA. You need to hold the inverter about 1 foot from your ear to hear it. So now I have the best of both worlds, a solid feeling 400w inverter with fan cooling that is whisper quite. Fan link below.

This is my first power inverter I've purchased. I did however know what to expect from friends and family that have these. This inverter is one of the best built I've seen. The fan being a little loud is just the inverter keeping cool. A little fan noise should make you feel comfortable that this thing will not overheat. So far I've used it to recharge flashlights, 18 and 7.2 volt DeWalt batteries, and NiMH rechargeable AA and AAA's. It has done a fine job at everything I've put to it. It does not run hot, I'm sure cause of the awesome fan it has. And all the charges have been well within the normal charge time as opposed to me having the chargers plugged into the wall at the house. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that needs the power while on the road.
