This car mount seemed impressive. I liked that it could hold a phone and charge (you have to use your phones cable)it. Plus, I was happy that I could connect my GPS device too. Upon receiving it I went to my car to check it out. The set-up was simple, but when it was connected (only phone with charging cable) the charging power would go off and on. I finally adjusted angles and had it as tight in the lighter connection as possible and it would keep a steady power light. When I added my GPS unit (making everything very front heavy), the power would cut out anytime I hit a bump (unless I held it secure)which would make my GPS unit turn on and off. Very frustrating. Therefore, if you buy this item, be ready for a few bumps in its consistent bumping.

Cables work good. Good product. Only issue is with trying to get it back into the carrying case. I broke the zipper after the first few uses. If you are not so worried about the carrying case, these are a heavy duty cable with a pretty decent clamp for the price.

I haven't used these yet (and don't look forward to doing so), but these are HEAVY DUTY and I am happy to have them in my trunk.

I am using this device with a 2008 General motors factory stereo. It is not a navigation unit, but it is XM ready. It is premium Harmon Kardon stereo available in the Buicks. This product has not shown itself to be user friendly.

The installation requires a vehicle-specific harness which simply plugs between the factory stereo and existing wiring. It's easy, which is good since I have had to open up the dash THREE TIMES!

The plugs don't fit well. The first time I lost all sound and had to re-seat and tape the harness into the stereo even though the plugs had snapped in. Plus, the cable running to the ipod will almost fall out of the PXAMG under it's own weight. I had to open up yet again to re-seat and tape that wire.

The last time was to update the firmware on the unit. All firmware on the unit and my ipod are up to date, but I am still having problems. When it works, it is nice, but the unit has a tendency to freeze up the display and so you have no idea what songs you are selecting. You can still hear music, but you can't select. The only way to get it back to normal is to reboot the ipod. This happens OFTEN! I think I have discovered that if you leave alone for the first 60 seconds or so when you turn on the stereo, it will be OK. But, if you touch a control before then, you'll crash it.

I know there are competing products out there from other companies. I wish I would have selected one of them instead.

UPDATE: (8/25/2009)

I did want to update this, as I had not given this product a favorable rating. After writing this review, I was having so many problems with the device that became far more insistant with Peripheral to be of assistance. They were very helpful. It turns out that the harness that I was using was defective. Once I replaced the harness, the device functions absolutely perfectly. It really is the ideal ipod solution. It's completely hidden, works very well and even provides power to the ipod.

Further, I recently swapped vehicles and before I did so, I removed the Gateway. I ordered another harness and just installed it in my Ford Explorer. It works perfectly in that vehicle as well!! Given a do over, I would give the PXAMG five stars, and I'd give Peripheral five stars as well.

I installed this in my 2004 Acura TL with factory navigation. There are a lot of ipod integration accessories on the market, but i really wanted one that was completely integrated and didn't stick out like a sore thumb on the dash somewhere coming out of the lighter socket. I also wanted digital sound and don't like the FM transmitters or tape adapters. This unit takes control of the XM function of the factory radio without eliminating XM which is nice for anyone that subscribes to XM. I like the fact that it is easy to use, using only the radio controls and that i get display of music on the factory radio. I recognize that the radio I have is the limiting factor in things that I would like (e.g. scrolling of the song name).

I gave it four stars for two reasons:

1) when going through artists, it's a one click at a time of the knob, not a fast spin through artist to get to the letter S as an example. To circumvent this, plan ahead and make sure you have playlists, they are easier to navigate.

2) sometime the display will not show the song artist in the display. pressing the xm button once, will bring it up. this is a minor inconvenience and doesn't ruin the experience.

All in all, high quality item so far in the 4 months I've used it and would recommend it. no issues with playback, no dropped songs, no crackle. I also installed the HD tuner as well and it's pretty good too.

I purchased and installed this unit in a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L with Navigation. So far after a day it seems to work well. Able to either control the iPod (Touch and Nano) from my radio while showing song info, or have the iPod just output directly in Auxiliary mode. Unit charges my iPod as well, since it is running through the iPod connector, so don't need to worry about running out of batteries on a long trip, or using a power adapter. Auxiliary input via 3.5mm plug also works as advertised (for other MP3 players).

Plan for a half day to a day to perform the installation. The main issues that took time for me to figure out were (1) taking apart the center stack to get to the rear of the radio for which I checked out on-line forums, (2) didn't realize that switching from XM to iPod mode you have to switch to AM/FM, then XM, then turn the tuner dial *immediately* to go to iPod mode (I wasn't doing it fast enough, but called technical support on a Saturday and the specialist helped me immediately, no waiting on hold terrific!), and (3) routing the cables to the unit.

I installed mine behind the glovebox so that I can access it easily for firmware upgrades without taking apart the center stack again seems like the vendor supplies them regularly to support new iPod OS upgrades. You use a mini-USB cable to do this, and their software supports XP and Vista.

The instructions supplied, although adequate, didn't seem as detailed and "cohesive" as could be. There were a couple of pieces of paper with slightly different instructions no doubt supplied to try and avoid issues without reprinting the owners manual. Also, no vehicle-specific instructions, so check on-line to see if anyone else has done it for your car and posted their experience.

Also, if possible, check if your seller has the unit with the latest iPod cable that supports iPhone 3G (5v charging). My unit arrived with a sticker on the box stating "Now charges iPhone 3G, iPod Touch Gen 2, iPod Nano Gen4"; otherwise you *might* need to buy another cable that supports these newer devices. The cable is backwards compatible with older iPods, so you might as well get the latest if possible.

There are a few odd-ball things to get used to, I assume since this a generic unit meant to work with many cars. One, the units lets you reverse a song by pressing one of the present buttons, but on the Honda radio this button is also labelled fast forward (for the CD player). Also, the radio interface will never be as easy to use as an iPod interface; those with nice LCD navigation screens will not see an "iPod" interface, just the song info.

I just ordered the PXAMG for my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe,

and although getting to my radio took a few hours,

installing it was more or less simple, no cutting wires just

plug in a go. I had to go through the connection process a few

time for the device to recognize my ipod but once I got it running

and make sure all plugs were properly fit, it was a breeze.

I've got an iPod video, and an iPhone 3g, works flawlessly with both of

them, although when connecting an iPhone it asks you if you want to

go into airplane mode upon connection, but you can just bypass that.

Even though the set-up for browsing the contents of my iPod takes a while to figure out, once understood it works great.

I am able to use a dial to browse through artists, which makes it pretty

quick (I would hate to have to press a button for each artist).

Sometimes it is difficult to tell which artist is playing, but that is minor.

Also doubles as a car charger, which is nice to have (for iPhone too).

One thing that was impressive was that when I turn my car on, the music resumes almost instantaneously from when I turned the car off. Usually with a CD, it takes time to queue up, but not with this bad boy.

I'm thoroughly impressed with this device and if I didn't tell you I had installed this in my car, you could not even tell, all parts are hidden (I mounted my gateway on top of my radio towards the back) and ran cable upwards to empty bin on the top, but you can always route it to your glove box.

Definitely worth the money, if you drive alot like I do then this is a great investment.

I purchased one of these in May 2010, installed it and was thrilled with the ease-of-use and functionality it provided. The AUX2 input came in handy when the iOS4 update made the unit incompatible with the regular iPOD/AUX1 input. The new authentication IC addresses that issue, but requires an additional $35 purchase ($30 + $5 shipping) from the manufacturer.

Ace Digital Photo has been very responsive and understanding during my ordeals with both the iOS4 upgrade and in replacing the defective unit. AAMP/PAC-Audio/iSimple (the manufacturer), on the other hand, required quite a bit of back & forth before I found someone knowledgeable and willing enough to work through the issue.

I bought three of these units, one for each car. I used the first one more than a year later and it worked! I was up and running in about 5 or 10 minutes, as the unit had said. I used the second one several months later after leaving the lights on in the car it worked then too! The 3rd one was used when I helped another guy whose battery was dead. I had no need to contact the company so I can't comment on other reviewers talking about disconnected phone numbers, but from my own personal experience, they are very handy to have in a pinch. And yes, they are a 1-time use disposable unit.

Item arrived quickly. However, it should be noted that the small charger says that it is for 1 use only. So, I am going to wait until it is absolutely necessary before trying it out. This key worked perfectly for me! Great alternative to paying $200+ at the dealership. I tried Home Depot and a couple of other hardware stores to have the key cut, but it was too large to fit into their machines.They recommended trying a locksmith, which I did, and they were able to cut the key in just a couple of minutes for free. After the key is cut, follow the programming directions which I admit, took me a few attempts until I had it memorized, but it really is simple. As a previous poster mentioned, you need to make sure that your car does not require an anti-theft microchip in the key. The computer device inside my key had fallen out and my broken key still started the car, so I knew this wasn't necessary for me.

The keys are good and programming them to open the doors was easy.

Unfortunately the keys WILL NOT start your car until you take your car and the keys to a locksmith ($125) or the dealer ($300) to have the anti-theft chip programmed.

The ad says "Easy programming at home, no dealership hassle!" but it's not true unless you want to open the door, but not drive the car.

This product worried me when I was trying to figure out whether or not it was the correct key. I took it to Ace Hardware, Home Dept, Lowes, two local locksmiths, and none of them had the machine that could fit the key due to it's large push button handle. I finally found a locksmith that had the correct machine and $5 later I was ready to program it. Programming was a piece of cake and took no longer than 5 minutes. Just follow the directions. Key works great! Ordering a second one now for my wife.

I've programmed the open/close remote control and it does not work (I followed the instructions carefully to ensure I wasn't making a mistake). Don't know what to do with the key now.

To make matters worse the key does not start the ignition. It fits the key hole, does start the stater motor, but the main engine doesn't kick in afterwards

Horrendous customer service and unreliable product

I have had nothing but problems with this inverter. It is completely unreliable. The OST is continually tripping the unit, which causes the AC to turn off and everything attached to it. After months of the unit tripping, it finally permanently failed, error code 529, and almost caught my camper on fire. It took weeks to get the smell out. I'm a seasoned electrical engineer with many years of power supply design experience, so I know the unit was installed correctly with very heavy wires, and located closed to four 125Ahr batteries in a clean, dry and well-ventilated area.

After sending over five emails to customer service, I finally received a response after threatening to write a bad review on the internet. They instructed me to send the unit back to NY, and they would look at it. I know it was delivered through a tracking number, but after numerous emails, I still have not received even an acknowledgment that they received the unit...very frustrating to say the least.

My 2 cents...buy from a more reputable company with customer service. You may need to spend twice the money, but it is worth every penny to get something that you can install, forget and enjoy for many years.

** UPDATE **: The 2nd unit fried as well. Big smoke came out of it, hopefully nothing was hooked to it when this happened. It looks like a very unreliable product.

Works great inside parking garages, but static in open areas. Works better on thriving stations than lower stations. It's ok.. doesn't work all the time. If you looking to use it constantly, I wouldn't suggest it because of how it works for me. I had a similar one before that I loved and thought it would be like that, but no.

I can't say enough about this system. For years, I have been disenchanted with commercial radio and the junk they play. If I wanted good music, I'd have to shell out a king's ransom for CDs. I had gotten to the point where I didn't even bother listening to music anymore; I'd just tune in NPR in the car and watch TV at home for entertainment.

I was skeptical about paying for satellite radio until I checked out the sample programming at www.xmradio.com. It took me about a day to realize I couldn't go another day without it. Now I listen to the radio all the time at home, and I've even hooked up the Home Adapter kit at work and listened through my computer's headphones. (It took a bit of doing to position the antenna for good reception in my office 'cube farm' inside a steel-and-concrete building, but I got it to work!) Now I can't wait to get the car adapter so I can take my stations with me on the road.

One of my favorite features on the Delphi SKYFi is that you can save Artist/Song Title information while listening if you hear something you really like. This has allowed me to discover several great new bands since I started listening to XM. I can confidently pick up new CDs of bands I'd never hear on commercial radio. It's like having a great college radio station!

Another great feature about the Delphi unit is that you take your one subscription with you wherever you go; there's no need to pay for an extra receiver, even though XM offers additional subs at a discount.

XM radio has a great fan following. Check out www.xmfan.com for a great online community of fans and fanatics. I learned a lot about antenna placement in poor-reception areas (XM at work!) from reading the message boards.

Quit stalling. Buy it. I promise you'll love it.

Forget the naysayers. This product was worth every penny, as well as the subscription fee.

I do not own a car, as I am legally blind. However, one does not need to own a car to enjoy XM radio. I live in the Coachella Valley in southern Central California, and quite frankly, the radio reception here bites, even on shortwave.

I also live in an stucco reinforced apartment, with NO WINDOWS at all in my bedroom.My Sky FI radio rests in the boombox docking station, and sits on top of my televison set. The antenna is simply clipped to the back of the boombox, and I do not use a single inch 0f it's 20 foot cable.

The radio works flawlessly.

All 121 channels.

No fading or digital artifacts.

The sign up process was quick and painless. I was up and running in under an hour.

Belive me, XM blows regular radio out of the water. My two favorite channels are 163 (Sonic Theater) and 164(Old Time Radio)

These 2 channels are well worth the subscription cost alone.

XM radio should side market this product to the visually impaired or blind as well. I could think of no greater a gift for someone blind, such as myself. An A PLUS!!!

I purchased my XM Radio Skyfi system from Best Buy just before a cross country trip. My wife and I love it. However, after losing the signal a few times in the rain and then losing the signal for a few days after a heavy rain. I discovered that the magnetic antenna supplied with the system is "known" to be a problem. Best Buy techs know it. And Delphi, the suppliers of the system know it. When I called tech support at Delphi, I got a curt recommendation to seal the area of the antenna where the wire enters the antenna then I wouldn't have any more problems. In other words, their problem was my problem. The Best Buy techs graciously told me if I got any kind of replacement antenna, they would replace my antenna at no charge. I couldn't find a replacement. The Delphi people need some customer service training. So, if you buy this system, save yourself some trouble and seal the area where the wire enters the antenna. If it weren't for the antenna problem, I'd give the system five stars.

I recently rented a Cadillac from Avis and was able to listen to XM at no charge. My wife and I really enjoyed it and decided the home kit option was something we were very interested in as we don't spend long periods of time in our cars.

I was reluctant at first because of worries regarding the antenna not being in a south-facing window. My stereo system is in a built-in entertainment wall and does not allow for the antenna to be pointed at a south facing window. After reading that many others have had success with the antenna in less than ideal areas, I decided I would give it a try.

My house is 2 years old, one story brick with a normal pitched roof consisting of plywood decking and dimensional fiberglass shingles. It has 10 foot flat and tray ceilings.

After hooking up the cables to my surround sound receiver and placing the antenna on the top of the stack of stereo components, I pointed the antenna generally to the south and toward the ceiling at about 45 degrees. I plugged the SkyFi in and immediately was getting two bars on the signal strength indicator. I do not have terrestrial repeaters in my area, so I am relying solely on the satellite. After a few quick adjustments I was getting 3 bars or it bounced between 3 and 2 bars.

I was very happy to have it work, and it is not even close to sitting in a south-facing window. After getting a strong signal and hearing the sample channels loud and clear, I activated the subscription online. I timed it and it took 12 minutes before the tuner updated and began receiving all channels. I was pretty impressed it activated that quickly.

I generally listen to talk radio in the car along with a few CD's and I absolutely despise FM radio with all of the repetitive commercials and DJ's having meaningless "conversations" with people that call in requests. I love the concept of satellite radio. I like to hear different types of music depending on the occasion or mood I'm in. XM is like a jukebox in the house with something new and different on each channel. I am terrible with song names and groups so I especially like to be able to look up and see the info on the Delphi display.

I picked XM over Sirius because I had a chance to hear it in the Avis rental car and I trust Delphi equipment. Satellite radio IS rocket science, but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy all it has to offer. Overall, I am very happy with the SkyFi, the home kit, and the XM service.

As a caveat here, I've been a subscriber of both XM and Sirius at different times. I'm not here to pump or dump either service or comment on programming -simply the merits and drawbacks of the SkyFi, so here goes. (1) I managed to break the SkyFi within 10 minutes of setting it up at home, simply by trying to turn the round tuning dial, and this didn't instill confidence in quality or build. I was able to get it replaced at my retailer, fortunately. Otherwise, the size of the unit is quite nice and the remote is slick. The display is nice, although the config options are a bit limited (and it's very, very red, which can be annoying to view). (2) The satellite reception was not bad but it was very, very touchy as to location. To that end, I moved to an apartment with a north/west exposure, so using it there was out of the question (no signal at all); ergo, I'm no longer a subscriber. (3) I also considered purchasing the Boom-Box rather than simply plugging into my home stereo -a friend still has his boom-box, but the volume on it is weak (it's only 4W output), and it has no adapters for external devices. Stylish, yes. Functional, not so much. It worked better through my home stereo's Aux input -even the latest boom-box model is still ONLY a 4 watt output, which is less than most cheap PC speakers. -Again, I won't discuss programming (I personally enjoyed XM, but that's a personal preference). The unit is nice, but there are some limitations, especially if you consider the satellite orbit for XM is very low and south-only; if you don't have that orientation available, try Sirius.
