Blinc M2 Bluetooth Helmet Communication Module with FM Tuner

Basically, it does what it says. It just works. I have mine paired with my DroidX and use WinAmp for music. I have it mounted in/on a Scorpion EXO-1000 sublim helmet. Any problems I've had have been with the device it's paired with, not the M2 itself. As others have stated, the FM tuner doesn't lock onto stations very well, and the few it does, they fade out fast.

Volume is very good, even at high speeds. My advice if you have low volume is to turn the device up all the way, then adjust the volume with the buttons on the top/bottom of the M2.

To others who get this that don't use the helmet clip and actually stick this directly to the helmet as I did, if you have a problem with the clip not locking, take something with a pointy tip and use it to "clean out" the "channel" that the clip hooks over on the M2 itself. I almost lost mine on the highway. Cleaning that channel out made it lock back in w/out a problem.

Two minor complaints:

1 When you turn on the M2, there's a horrifically loud beep through the headphones. It's deafening, and VCan has confirmed there's no way to turn it off or down. My solution is to not pair the device or turn it off when I have the helmet on. :)

2 It has a proprietary charging connector, so make sure you bring the charger with you when you hit the road!! VCan please standardize the charge connector to Mini USB or something. It's awful to be stranded w/ no way to charge this or even go out and buy a charger!

EDIT (6/13/2012) some further advice:

1 Mount the device to the left side of your helmet unless you have cruise control.

2 if you use an android phone with this, when you pair a bluetooth audio device, sometimes the volume gets "stuck" at odd levels. The only way to correct that is to start playing a music track, then turn the phone Bluetooth audio all the way up, then all the way down, then set the listening volume to all the way up. In other words, sometimes the phone needs to know the high a low volume points. If you're doing it with the helmet on, make sure you turn the VCan device volume down first.

This little guy is SUPER easy to install and sounds great. the music from my phone is super loud. the radio is super loud. the phone in it... I couldn't believe it, even with the super loud pipes on my bike people can still understand me. it's crazy! I love this thing! Totally worth the money. On a side note, sometimes my phone locks up but I don't think it's related to the M2. It's one good reason to get the FM radio version. Just so you don't have to stop and check things.

Also, I should add that 31 days after I got it, the left side stopped working but Amazon shipped a new one overnight free of charge.

I saw the promo video and was impressed. I ordered two units and installed them on the helmets. One fit well without the adhesive. The other required the adhesive (which I didn't want to use). The sound from my MP3 was great and I was impressed. However, the communication between the two units is horrible. You have to max out the volume and you get an echo effect; if you can hear the other person at all.

Both of the units have a problem getting the plug from the microphone/speakers to stay properly plugged into the main unit. If they are not plugged in all of the way, the sound does not play for both ear speakers. It usually will only have sound in one unless you press and hold the plug into the main unit. In addition, the unit has a hard time staying place in the mounting device connected to the helmet. It comes out too easily. I have not checked other brands, but I was disappointed to find that it only has a 90 day warranty. I would expect the typical year as most products have. I would not buy these if I could do it over again.

I purchased this about 2 weeks ago and thought I'd write about my experiences. Overall the unit is good. 95% of the time it does exactly what i want it to. Installation was a breeze. Took about 5 mins on my Scorpion Exo. My friends PGR helmet took a little longer but mostly due to the helmet, not the device. It comes with a quick clip and a more permanent adhesive attachment. I chose the clip just so i have the option to take it off. With the adhesive is it still possible to remove the device for security reasons. Looks great on my flat black helmet.

Music sounds great, calls are so-so. I can hear the music decently at 65+mph without a windshield. Calls are great up until about 60+ then the wind drowns them out unless the caller is screaming. When receiving a call it doesnt let you know who is calling(minor inconvenience, sure some phones will allow this). The controls are ok. Changing songs and volume is easy, just wish the volume buttons were larger; hard to press with gloves on. I also wish the unit had a dedicated pause/play button. The instructions say to hold the main button for 2 secs to pause and hit it again to resume music. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. I've had it pause for a second and continue playing for no reason. I usually turn it on, then press play on my phone before riding.

The battery life is fairly good. I generally get a full day of music without having to recharge. It does drain my phones battery fairly quickly, but that's to be expected with Bluetooth.

I have not paired it with a GPS unit yet, just the one on my phone but my buddy has had good reviews from that.

Both units seem to randomly freeze, which is highly annoying. it will freeze on and not play anything or turn off. When this happens, you have to restart it with the little clip they give you or let the battery drain to empty. Doing the restart causes it to forget your phone which is annoying. I forgot my clip when I was out riding one day and had to let it drain (which took all day) and recharge it that night. This seems to be a constant issue with these, from what I've read on forums. So returning it for a new one seems to not be any help. To sum up:

I've owned this unit for about a year and I absolutely love it. First of all, it's built like a tank; MUCH sturdier than I expected, and heavy so it stays in place wherever you put it. This is a very well designed eq. So far I've only used it for a passive electric bass, but it allows me to use only this and a power amp; ANY old power amp (that old stereo, for example, or I use it with my tiny Crate power block), and get a great sound and full function. Most stomp box eq's don't allow for this, because they aren't an actual preamp. But this is, so you can plug it directly into a power amp. This has all the essentials and nothing extra. This is a great DI box if you are looking for something that complements your bass without coloring the sound. I play a fairly clean sound with NS Design EUB, Warwick Thumb, etc. I use a Demeter HBP-1 when I use an amp, which is warm but clean. I can say that the Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum Bass accurately reproduces my instruments' sound without overly coloring the sound. It is warm, and the compression in the DI box is a great feature. If you are looking for something that will make your bass sound like it is running through an overdriven SVT this is not the box. It is a very well balanced DI with the right controls for getting a bass to sound natural and full through the house. If you want to color your sound or are going for the sound of a particular amp, then go with a Sansamp or one of the other capable boxes built for that purpose. This box seems built with clean bass and upright bass in mind.

I bought one of these Fishman PRO-EQ Platinum Bas Preamps about three years ago, planning to use the EQ, Compression and "Depth" (high-pass filter) features to improve the sound of my odd acoustic bass. It's an upright guitarrón, very much modified from the Mariachi configuration. It is tuned E1-A1-D2-G2-C3-F3, straight across in fourths, like a double bass. It has three piezo transducers for its six strings. The original guitarrón sound with round-wound strings was kind of a twangy thump. But I now have settled on Rotosound 88 TruBass strings, which are black nylon-wrapped flat wounds that give it a dark, thumpy sound, but with plenty of sustain when I want it. Recognizing that my upright guitarrón will never sound LIKE a double bass, the idea is to get it to sound as much like one as possible. The Fishman preamp is a big help toward that objective.

The Fishman has a warm, even tone that seems to smooth out the rough spots in my instrument, which tended toward having a boomy A1 open string. The setup is easy and sensible. After I had used the Fishman for about a year, I bought a Headway EDB-1, which has even more controls, including a notch filter that I thought would be even more effective on my A1 string. After trying the Headway for another year, I went back to my Fishman. I just could not achieve the evenness of tone with the Headway, despite its more detailed features. And the Headway did not produce the warm tone that I had missed in my Fishman. My instrument through the Fishman sounds better into all my combo-amps, whatever their size and power. And, as others have mentioned, the Fishman has a heavy and sold feel, despite being made of plastic (it feels like heavy, high-impact plastic).

So, I'll be selling the Headway, and I've already bought a second Fishman for backup.

After several performances I have found the Fishman Platinum Bass pedal to be very effective at controlling feedback. We frequently play fairly loud music with drums banging away; I need gainy, big bass sound from my upright to settle effectively in the mix. With this pedal I can find a good mix of compression and sustain control that really limits the feedback while maintaining a moderately natural sound. The highs still come through, as well. As is usually the case, when I'm too close to my amplifier and I play arco there still tend to be some feedback problems, but this is extremely difficult to curtail. All-in-all a great little box for a reasonable price.

had this battery for a few months now, this battery is an AWESOME DEAL! most batteries are so friggin expensive, even at autozone and all those spots. it doesn't look like the one in the picture, it looks nicer, not like that matters. i put it on the tender when i got it anyway, but it was reading full charge on the tester. i figured better safe than sorry. bike has no problems starting up. if it had any disastrous engineering defects i'm sure it would have come to light by now. have started bike again and again after lots of short stops running errands around the city, have left it unplugged for 2 weeks when I was away and it started right up (no tender). sometimes i think these discount batteries are a gamble...maybe you get a good one, maybe you get a dud, but i definitely got a good one so I would recommend it to anyone. using it on a honda xr650L.

Only had this for a little over a week now, but it appears to be a solid splitter. The long cord provides the length necessary to power back seat devices from the dashboard panel. I have powered two portable DVD players, an iPhone (via USB port) and a GPS on it simultaneously and have seen no issues so far. Both the housing and extension cord appear rugged and sturdy. Port caps are fixed to the housing, so there are not "pieces/parts" to lose or misplace. Highly recommended.

I bought this to replace the Vision 3-way adapter which fell apart after just a few weeks of use. As soon as this one arrived, I knew it would be different. This is not cheap plastic and gimmicky blue LEDs. This feels like an appliance, not a gadget. It's solid and heavy, not particularly pretty, and has a serious power cord with an easy-access fuse right in the plug. I'm using it to power and charge a GPS, an FM transmitter, a Bluetooth headset, and a smart phone. Everything works perfectly. This unit seems well-insulated, too; the FM transmitter gets much cleaner sound when plugged into this than it ever did in my old splitter.

One star off for putting the USB port in the back. When installed inside the cubby in my dashboard, the back is not accessible at all. It's not a big deal for me, because I just put a little USB adapter in one of the lighter ports, but it's a dumb design. One other note: I didn't use the mounting plate (the spot is tight enough that it doesn't need it) but the included screws look like they're way too short for the job. A few times pushing and pulling on plugs, they would rip right out of whatever you had screwed them into. So, if you plan to mount this with screws, I recommend buying better ones.

All-in-all, I'm very satisfied.

I got this so I can plug in more than 1 thing and to not have cords running up the center of the dash. Works fine, just wish it had more mounting options. There is a plate that snaps on the back which can be mounted using provided double sided tape or 4 very small screws. The USB port is on the bottom so if you are mounting it very low make sure there is enough clearance for the cord to plug in and curve back upward.

The battery input terminals are extremely undersized to carry the maximum 80-100 Ampere battery current specified for full 100 Ampere load.

The binding post screw appears to be only a #6 or #8 bolt. I expected at least 1/4" for the current drawn. Possibly will be usable with "Real" battery cables.

The wire gauge of cables included is too small to carry the current without excessive voltage drop. The lug on the cable to too large for the small battery post on the inverter, reducing contact area.

Due to the input cable/connector voltage drop the unit functions will not provide full voltage at 1000W continuous rated power let alone the 2000W maximum surge specification. Might be OK with heavier input cables. It seems to be very well built mechanically.

New Potato Technologies TuneLink Auto Bluetooth in Car Stereo Wireless Adapter for iPhone, iPod Tou

Basically, this peripheral is an expensive ($90) dongle that plugs into the power port in your car and connects to your phone (and other phones) via bluetooth. You can then either plug the dongle directly into your stereo via audio cable (short ~1 foot cable included) or it can also act as an FM transmitter. As far as I can tell, if you only want to stream via cable it doesn't matter if you have an iOS device or any other bluetooth enabled music device. I think you should be able to connect and stream music, though you will be lacking on a lot of the features of the device. I also haven't tried this yet so don't buy it with that specifically in mind as it is labeled as for iphone and ipod touch.

The dongle itself has just 2 jacks in the front of it, one for the audio cable and one for a USB cable. It says that it provides enough power to be able to charge the iphone / ipod as well as an iPad, if that's what you're hoping for. There are no buttons on the dongle to initiate a connection. This causes problems if you are listening to something while your car engine isn't on and then you turn it on. The connection will die and won't try to re-connect so the only thing you'll be able to do is either pull out your phone and tell it to reconnect or pull the adapter out of the port and plug it back in.

The device is controlled via your phone using an app from the app store. The app provides you the ability to find good radio frequencies that should best work with the FM transmitter and set the station the dongle will broadcast at. You can also use it to manage the currently playing song or handle the music that is currently playing. You can name your specific Tunelink device, set a default location (to help with FM frequency help) and set up options to automatically connect, automatically start playing, and even automatically load the TuneLink application when it connects.

An additional feature of this is the capability to have multiple people in the car connect to the adapter and share playback of the music through the Tunelink application. There are different modes that you can set it to to change how this works (automatically queuing, requesting to play something, etc). I have not tried this so I can't speak to how well it works.

Finally, the important bit of sound quality though I might not be the best judge. I have only used mine with a direct connection but it sounds as if my phone were directly connected to my stereo. I haven't tried out the FM transmitter portion yet, but one of the reviews on Amazon indicated it sounds "Very Very Decent" and other reviews I've read have said that it sounds really good, though suffers from the same problems as all FM transmitters.

Overall I'm VERY happy with my purchase. The convenience of just getting in my car and having my music start up as if I've got a CD in the player is great. Having the charge port on there makes it great for normal usage even if you're low on battery and it comes with a cable so no need to get another one or carry one with you. Sorry for the wall of text, but hope this helps.

This product gives me a high quality audio connection between my iPhone 3GS and Mazda3 factory stereo. It pairs easily from the first time and then I do not need to do anything to re-pair it. On short rides, I do not even take the phone out of my pocket as soon as I start the engine, in few seconds music just starts playing where it stopped last time. Of course I use AUX connection to my stereo to avoid any potential static in the city but I tried FM for a couple of days as well and it's very, very decent, volume is not much different from radio stations, and very clear sound if you take care to choose an empty frequency as you should anyway. Also, I set FM Volume to LOW for most clear sound. I can listen to Alan Parson's and Pink Floyd over FM just fine, to my surprise. Dynamic range and frequency response seem to be excellent.(this section of review is updated after weekend testing). I had other FM transmitters before and the sound never was that clear.

So I'm keeping it no questions; and it offers sharing the connection with other people in my car kids love that.

so, to be short, I am done with my car audio upgrades. Tunelink is not cheap but it's MUCH cheaper than to buy and install aftermarket ipod-enabled or bluetooth stereo; besides, it's portable. Oh yes, it charges the phone too, and even the cable is included.

Negatives? hmmm... well, it requires having an iPhone or touch.. though I've heard they have Droid version now.

This thing was fabulous while it worked. It dropped signal a couple of times but nothing that unplugging/replugging in didn't fix. Unfortunately, the return window (through Amazon)expired today and it just so happens that as I was leaving for a road trip it quit working entirely. It's not communicating with the radio OR the application. It still has a pretty blue light but yeah not what I bought it for.

Update #1 New Potato has a one year warranty on their products so once I am home from my road trip I will contact them and exchange the defective equipment.

Update #2 Contacting the company was quick and painless as was getting a replacement once I sent them the defective unit. The last unit worked for month so I can't really judge the new one until that time has passed but so far so good. At the very least, New Potato is great.

Update #3 (November 2012) In the last month I've no longer needed this but it still works all this time later.

Setup, (if you even want to call it that), totally consists of plugging the Tunelink device into a powered outlet, plugging the AUX cable into the Tunelink and into car AUX port, pairing the Tunelink with your iphone and that's it. Done deal. Sounds quality is better than my factory installed XM radio. Tunelink is rock solid and I highly recommend it.

I must say that I was expecting to be dissapointed because of the price. But, this Tunelink worked better than I would have ever thought. The only draw back is that it plays the last song played as soon as you turn your car on. You can turn your bluetooth off in the settings to avoid this. But then again, it is a much cheaper alternative than having to rewire your sound system which I was ready to do. I have a 2007 Infiniti G-35 with bluetooth, but does not have bluetooth audio. I was tired of having to connect my iPhone with the audio cable in order to hear music. This worked and sounded better than expected. I gave this four stars only because it starts playing music before you ask it to. But on the other hand, the sound is so much better than CD or XM. You will not be dissapointed. It is awesome to get in the car and not have to look for the cable to hear music. It just plays, and sounds beyond your expectations. This is my first review that I write, and I felt I had to do it. I have always been the person that read reviews on items before purchasing them, and I never took the time to write a review. But with this one I had too. It is pretty impressive how such a small device can deliver such amazing sounds and connectivity. I have not tried the FM tuner, so I cannot comment on it. But, if you have an iPhone and bluetooth in your car, give it a try, for $90.00 you can't go wrong. I only hope that the manufacturer can correct the auto start on the music. But that can be me being spoiled. The more technology advances the more we expect. I was ready to spend over $300 to rewire my car just to have bluetooth audio. Sometimes we have to suck it up and make adjustments. Just being able to not have to connect a cable to my iPhone and hear the rich music with full bass and without engine noise is awesome. I disagree with the above reviewer in that you CAN use this while it's charging. It's possible that that person was unable to get a strong enough signal to operate it or perhaps another issue, but NO, it does not go into PC mode. Otherwise, having this charger is convenient when you want to take your GPS on the go with you & it needs some juice but you don't have enough time to do this in the car. This item was listed as a Garmin branded charger, and I was expecting an exact replacement for the AC charger that came with my Nuvi 350. This is an off branded charger. The cord is a bit shorter than the original, the usb plug that goes into the unit on the original as offset 90 degrees, this one is straight, and the output of this is slightly lower than the OEM product.

It still works, but the shortened cord is limiting. Price was good, and shipping was relatively fast.

this charger is for cell phones, it is NOT by NUVI as Amazon says, the one I received is by CCM Mobile, when plugged into my nuvi 750 it does go into pc mode(as others have said), I love it when other people tell you that NO it doesn't go into pc mode, maybe Amazon sends out different models and maybe they received one by Nuvi, but I didn't, I have played with it many times trying to get it to work(plugged and unplugged several times quickly and did get it to be in the charge mode one time, but I can not get it to repeat so it is not dependable), truly does not do what Amazon advertises it to do, a useless $3.50 piece of junk, do not buy for GPS's, also, it is not the same as the picture of the item on Amazon's page

This kit was a pain in the a--. Hooking up to the starter solinoid was the worst pain. I had to end up ordering custom made battery cables. One was 8 feet long running from the starter to the switching cylinder. Getting to the starter was almost impossible without tearing up my hand. So far everything seems to work ok but like I said it was a pain not painless.

It reads a couple degrees above or below the bank sign temperatures. So it's pretty accurate and it's easy to read and use. The adhesive didn't stick for long but we just bough another adhesive strip and it sticks fine.

Gave it 4 out of 5 only because it was not fully assembled on arrival. The 2 small nuts and bolts that retain the fuse holder were rolling around loose inside the case. F.Y.I. ran a #12 wire with inline 15 amp fuse from my battery to the power socket in the dash on my truck trying to help my old inverter function better so I continued to use the socket plug on this new one instead of hard wiring it to the battery.

I like the Belkin brand, but the item I got was not the same as the picture. The cable does not have lock-release buttons; which was the only reason I bought this item. I didn't need the shuffle cable nor the wall adapter, just the ipod charger cable. It's way too much trouble to return, so I'll just give it away, but beware.

Additionally, the ipod/itouch will not sync using the supplied USB cable.

Do not buy this product if you have a 3G or 4G iPod Shuffle...the tip will not go all the way into the port for charging. The charging cord meant for the Shuffle has four weird pieces of plastic jutting out all around the metal tip making it impossible to insert the tip all the way into the port. I was puzzled as to why it was made with these protrusions, so I scanned the manual that came in the package and the packaging itself and in teeny tiny letters I found the problem "for use with 2G Shuffle only". Would have been nice to know this before I bought it. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am sick and tired of these companies not giving accurate or full descriptions of their products. I would think Amazon would monitor this to cut down on items being returned!

This is the WORST power wire ever purchased. They claim it is 4 gauge, but in reality it is 8 gauge! it is all shielding and hardly any copper wiring. It is made from such thinly stranded wire that cutting the cable shield will surely cause you to cut into the wire, reducing the gauge even more. I have performed trunk battery installations in 8 other vehicles, all using 4 gauge wire. Using this wire the car will NOT START. For comparison, Stinger brand 4au wire is 3.0mm, Phoenix Gold's 4au wire is 2.5mm, this brand is 2.0mm. AGAIN THIS IS NOT 4au WIRE!!!! Don't be ripped off.

This cable is not 4 Gauge as many have stated in previous reviews, I only bought it to see for myself because I really only needed 6-8 AWG cable anyway. Sure enough, this cable was alot smaller than the existing 4 AWG that I have. I can fit 2 of these cables into a 4 gauge ring terminal and crimp them together in 1 terminal. No way you can do that with REAL 4 gauge cable.

You need lots of room behind this big switch.

When I needed a new battery for my van about 8 years ago, I did a lot of research. After putting in the new battery, I noticed the starter seemed to crank twice as fast as it ever had before.
