Optima Battery 9004-003: Red Top Optima Battery, Top and Side Terminals, 800 Cold Cranking Amps, 10

Optima Battery 9004-003: Red Top Optima Battery, Top and Side Terminals, 800 Cold Cranking Amps, 10 in. x 6.875 in. x 7.813 in., EachThis is the best car battery I have ever had. The one in my truck has been there for 8 years and it shows no signs of fatigue. The truck, with the battery fully connected, has been shipped across the Atlantic ocean twice on open deck for 1-2 months, then started the truck in an instant. Five of the 8 years were in the arctic, with temps down to -35 C, and it always started. The other years were in the US SW and Mexico, with temp extremes up to +120 F, again no problems ever. The extra posts are great for no clutter connections of extra equipment. In my experience, this is the best car battery money can buy.

Update 2008: Battery still works with no sign of fatigue after 10+ years! If I ever need a new battery, it will be another of these without any hesitation.

You can't go wrong with this battery. No acid messes,no water to add, just plenty of power to start and run your vehicle and its options,no matter what you drive.3 year free replacement package, after that monthly proration based on months used for 6 years.Great trouble free, worry free battery.

When I needed a new battery for my van about 8 years ago, I did a lot of research. After putting in the new battery, I noticed the starter seemed to crank twice as fast as it ever had before. A couple of years later I got one for my Mercury Grand Marquis. It still works great 6 years later. The other reviewer who says it wouldn't hold a charge has some kind of short in his vehicle. This battery has a 3 year REPLACEMENT gaurantee, other battery gaurantees are pro-rated. It's maintenance free, has side posts and top posts, and can be mounted in any position. With the top posts, it's real easy to give someone else a jump. Remember, the one for cars is the RED battery. They also make yellow and blue. Let me add, I'm not really sure which Red Optima battery I have.

I bought one of these in 1999 and it is still working. Bought a new one for this winter just because i want extra piece of mind that my truck will start since it sits out in the Iowa cold. If the new one lasts half as long as the old one i'll be happy and money ahead of a conventional battery!

The Optima Battery was originally created Because Gates at Gates Rubber in Denver

wanted a better battery for his golf cart...they put the first ones made in his cart

and it flew across the golf course and I became a dealer....I had one last 15+ years in my pickup...

sold my shop in '91 and my dealership with it

the only flaw in the original was they used 100% lead...and if the battery went completely dead, it wouldn't recharge, so they added like 1% tin and that cured the problem

it has been the best battery money can buy for over 20 years....

back then they rated them at 800/1000 amps but actually they were more like 1200

I actually still have one of the old ones with the Gates label and use it as a bench battery

just because it's light and easy to carry and the tiniest amount of acid leak is there

around the posts (they didn't have side mounts yet back then)

and unlike most batteries that die completely after about 14 complete die downs

(battery completely dies and gets recharged)

These can handle umpteen complete recharges

I'm only shopping for a new one because the commercial duty AC Delco in my Suburban is losing it after 3 years which I had installed when I bought it

I plan for this to be the last battery I ever buy for my Suburban

For a vehicle I don't plan on keeping....Walmart batteries are just fine

but if you plan on keeping one a long time

you just can't beat the durability and dependability of these

and like another said...3 yr free replacement....

and if you don't have any troubles during those 3 yrs, you won't for the next 10, imo

and a last note....my old '78 Chevy Pickup started just fine even in -50ยบ....and we don't even consider the wind chill factor here...

and that was year after yr or even if I let it sit 6 months and as far as I know

that battery is still the same one in it when I see it drive by

with the high compression engine I built and put in it and hear those Flowmasters

roll by

I gave up that ol' pickup for the comfort of a 3/4 ton nice Suburban with a 6.0

and I love it....but my battery is losing it and it's time for a good one

and this will be the one I get, even if I get it through NAPA since Amazon's Supersaver shipping has gotten where it takes 2+ weeks to get something
