This inverter is compact and does exactly what it is intended to do. The USB slot is a nice feature. I have used it on 8+ hour roadtrips powering cell phones, laptops, DVD players and other items. Never a problem.

Very nice, I use it in my SUV, then hook my notebook up to it, runs a little hot but not too bad, I also charge my cell phone off it, small, and has an on/off switch with a green power light, I like it.

We went through two of the Wagan EL2402s. The first arrived and a piece of solder fell out of one of the vents. May have been extraneous, but better to be safe than sorry, Amazon was great and overnighted a replacement. At best I can only give mixed reviews. The is supposed to be able to handle 200 Watts with a peak of 500 Watts.. Fairly substantial in print. In reality, things like battery chargers, cell phone chargers, etc., all seemed to be fine. Where the problems began were on more "specific" devices. We wanted the device for my wife to run a 35 Watt Chi hair straightener. It would not even turn on. The description says power tools, so I thought I'd given a try to a couple. First a sabre saw, again well under peak and normal wattage to be handled. Nothing, a blip when I pulled the trigger, then nothing. A Dewalt hand drill... well kinda sorta.. If you started out VERY slowly on revolutions and worked your way up, you could get to full speed. I didn't try that under a load, but I assume it would work to a point.

I called Wagan, and they assumed some of the failures cames from the fact that AC devices are used to and built for a sine wave output. The Wagan (and I assume some others) don't produce the exact same sine wave (calling it a modified sine wave). So, your own mileage may vary. Some Notebook AC Chargers may be more sensitive than others, so you probably can't be sure. Again, I don't know that Wattage alone is the delimiting factor. It may that your particular device just won't work.

My advice, read the reviews.. If you have a particular device or devices you are thinking about running, perhaps check with the manufacturers of these different inverters. Remember electronics are pretty sensitive devices when it comes to power. While I may be willing to try a Chi hair straightener, I may not be as comfortable with a notebook.. Best bet there is to see if your manufacturer has a DC supply (Car/Airplane) adapter.

I have an Odyssey deep cycle battery in my car. I ran my power hungry Dell desktop replacement laptop off this charger for 2 weeks, no problems. The laptop has a 90W power brick. I also ran the 90W laptop power brick + a 50W external laptop battery charger at the same time. If your car's wiring is protected by a 20A fuse, then 200W continuous is the most you're going to safely pull through your cigar lighter. I picked this unit because it's 200W continuous. Many of the other available "200W" products are just full of marketing slime and don't give 200W continuous, they give 200W peak power for a few minutes and can only handle ~150W continuous. Small annoyances: the user manual claims it has an airplane plug adapter but it doesn't, and the plug is so long that it's not the best fit for my car's cigar lighter. I have to carefully align the flexible springs on the plug to get it to stay in, but if so aligned they do stay in.

Update July 2012. The unit gave me no problems for 2 years. Then I plugged an ungrounded 2-prong Dekcell universal battery charger with a laptop battery attached to it, and the unit fried. I had used that same Dekcell charger with the unit before, but I hadn't done it for 2 years. I don't know what happened. Maybe has to do with the order in which you plug things in. The unit has a perfectly good 20A fuse inside it, that didn't blow. What's the point of a fuse if it won't protect the unit from trouble? Which direction was that fuse supposed to protect from, I wonder?

So, since it died, I can't rate it as more than average. I'm shopping for something else. One thing positive I will say for the Wagan, it's quiet. Lots of units I'm finding in retail stores have noisy fans. I can't stand that and keep returning them.

It charges up via the supplied car charger in a couple of hours, it is easy to pair with your phone by just holding down the larger of the 3 buttons (Multi Function Button) until the unit comes to life and displays a flashing blue light, then keep holding it down until it flashes Red/Blue, now you can find the device and pair with it on your phone handset. Once this is done every beep and noise the phone makes is now coming from the small speaker from the jWin unit, it is clear enough to use whilst driving and can be quite loud, however don't try and use the volume controls on the unit as they do not seem to function, use the volume on the handset and this will adjust the jWin volume, it took me 15 minutes to work that one out ;o)

Anyway it does what it says on the packet, it links to your phone and works, yes you can voice dial by pressing that magic multi-function button, but do not expect a great deal of accuracy, maybe one in 3 times it will get it right, however a good feature to make sure the battery lasts a long time between charges is the fact that when you go out of range with your phone, ie, you leave your car, the unit will switch off and will only work again once you have entered the vehicle and pressed the multi-function button for a few seconds until the blue flashing light appears.

So to summerize, it is a great deal for a cheap Bluetooth Hands Free, it is small so easy to take with you if required and fits perfectly on to most sun visors, apart from that the negative side is just lack of features and a good quality speaker.

In use, I have been told by the person at at the other end it sounds as clear as me talking on the handset, so I guess that it has a good microphone to achieve that.

I hope this was some help to someone.

This device is worth it. Using a cell phone while driving is now prohibited in my country so the need of bluetooth devices is a must now. I have bought about 15 of these over a period of about 6 months because people like the functionality of the device. It is clear, loud, easy to install and connect to any mobile phone. I have had no problems with this device. The one option I would have liked to get with it was a travel charger or wall charger rather than a car charger for the device, however, it uses a standard mini usb port so you motorola and blackberry users should not have a problem charging the device. Keep in mind the standard mini usb wall chargers are easily available. If you are looking for a simple to use bluetooth handsfree kit that is very reasonable, then this should be your option.

I bought this bluetooth hands-free because it's the law not to use your cell while driving. This handsfree syncs perfectly to my Android, and the quality is great. The battery lasts a long time too. For the price, this is a great value. The only drawback is that I have this on my visor, and at night time, the flashing blue light is pretty close to your eyes and can be distracting. I've put this reversed on the visor and pull down the visor whenever I talk on the phone. I would highly recommend this.

Do NOT recommend. Charger would only charge half the time and broke after about 10 times using it. It's better to buy the real thing instead of this replacement.

I have been using this adapter for about three weeks and it is still fully functional. It fits with my splitter and charges my Garmin unit perfectly. The charger is clearly cheaply constructed, hence the sub-$5 price tag. I'm not sure how one can shell out a whopping $3 for a replacement like this, then come up shocked when it isn't perfect. Anyway, mine works fine, but in time I expect the actual outer "shell" of the charger to fall apart, it just seems poorly constructed. For what it's worth, the Garmin-brand charger that came with my GPS unit showed signs of wear fairly quickly as well.

Optima Batteries 8050-160 D31T YellowTop Dual Purpose Battery

I have used this battery with an SEC America SF606 Heater Sentry inverter/charger to power a Toyotomi L73 Vented Kerosene Heater when the power goes out. It will operate the heater for over 11 hrs. The L73AT is my primary heat source so it can not be down during a power failure. The battery just does its job. Doesn't leak or smell. My battery is currently 3 yrs old with a projected life of 6. Expensive battery but worth it.

Edit 1/3/13: 6 years old now and the most recent test still showed an inverter run time of about 11 hrs. (Tested each Christmas, AC line power turned off and heater operated until the inverter shuts off at about 10.5v.)

It has lost about 1/2 hr of inverter runtime in 6 yrs! I would say the projected operating life of 6 years needs to be revised unless this battery suddenly takes a turn for the worse.

I first bought Optima batteries in June 2007 for my 2003 Peterbilt 387. At that time we were pulling a 53' enclosed auto transport trailer whose hydraulics were powered by a 12 volt DC pump. My title tells you most of the story about this. It will pass some power from one car to another thru the lighter outlets, but we're talking "trickle charge" power, not "Instant starting/boost" power. If you have a good car battery but left your lights on while you went into a movie or such, this can recharge it, but will probably take 15-30 minutes (or more depending on how totally drained it is). However, if the dead car battery is bad and won't hold a charge, you don't want to wait that long, or you have other car problems (like something draining power), this won't work for you and you're better off with the old jumper cables. They say in the manual "Let it charge for 5 minutes until the green LED comes on, then disconnect it and try starting the car" followed by "If it doesn't start, let it charge another 5-10 minutes and try again", but at the under 5 amp rate I'd bet my 15-30 minutes minimum is more realistic.

Some other details if your interested, this device actually "Pumps" power where I connected it between 2 batteries and the "Good/source" battery dropped to 12.5V while the "Bad/charging" battery went up to 15V (and since I know 15V+ is "Overcharging", I pulled the plug there). Seeing the voltage go that high tells me it doesn't regulate the output power (and they even say on the box "Puts out 16-17V"), so you'd never want to use this to connect 2 batteries together and go off leaving them. I also checked the current draw and it pulled 2.7 amps while putting 1.8 amps into the other battery. My battery I tested with may not have been very drained, but still the

Pros: This is a very good looking inverter! I really like the sleek design and clean look. Has a pretty decent manual too. I like that the 12-volt accessory port plug (like you'd plug into the cigarette lighter outlet in your car) and wires are attached. The sine wave is PURE as measured by my instruments. (I also read a frequency of 59.9hz which my same instruments also read my commercial power at.)

Cons: This thing can't handle a load! Using a 12 volt, 35 amp hour battery pack, I hooked a 75 watt load up to it. I had a Kill-A-Watt plugged into the back of the inverter and had the load plugged into the Kill-A-Watt. The voltage level with no load attached and with using a fully charged battery pack (battery pack voltage level 13.21v DC), the Kill-A-Watt showed the inverter's output voltage to be fluctuating between 113.3v and 113.8v AC. When a 15 watt load was attached, the output voltage dropped to 112.5v AC. Bumping the load up a little caused more drop:

Is my Go Power! defective?

Additional con is the location of the on/off/remote switch. There are two AC outlets on the back of the unit. They are on the Go Power sideways! The power switch is located to the immediate right of the outlet on the right. If your plug is a bigger than the outlet, you cannot turn the switch on or off. You will have to use an extension cord. (An extension cord was NOT used in my test as I was able to plug the Kill-A-Watt into the outlet on the left side -which covered most of the right-side outlet too.)

I replaced the Go Power inverter with a Xantrex XPower pocket inverter (175 watt with a modified sine wave). Using the same battery pack, I was able to run the same load for over 5 hours! The voltage stayed between 114.0v and 116.6v the entire time the load was applied. The Xantrex was only a fraction of the cost of this Go Power inverter.

I intend to return this Go Power inverter and will try a different brand for my pure sine wave inverter needs.

This company makes a great product. We have it running in fairly harsh conditions, protected in a NEMA cabinet. It runs an irrigation controller (as part of a solar setup), that is too far from any power source to run power from the grid. Of course, it is one component in the system, several other items are also needed, so do your homework regarding load, protection, etc.

I bought this inverter over a year ago to run my laptop in my truck. I do a lot of traveling and I am on the local ferry quite a bit. Bought this for a 143watt application based of the specifications of the device I was using and worked for a while until it kept overloading. Would have to turn it off, reset, and try again but same result. Buy only if your application is definitely under 150watts. Mine did not come with a cigarette lighter plug just soldered 10 gauge wire ends that hook up to the inverter via anderson power connectors, so be prepared when planning for your own situation. Also it is quite large and heavy for a 150watt inverter, though it is remarkably quite. Most of the cheaper modified sine wave inverter are incredibly noisy and always on. This one only came on under heavy loads.

I was sketchy on getting this because everyone said it blew a fuse but that never happened with me. Maybe you just can't have too many things using power. Your lighter outlet is only made for a certain amount of watts. Like an electrical outlet, if you have too many things plugged in, it's going to blow a fuse. So you can't be upset at the product. Cigarette lighters are meant to run small things.

Another plus for me is that it sticks out since the cigarette lighter in my 90 New Yorker is a little pushed back.

I plugged an air pump into this thing and it immediately burned out. Whoops. Wish I would have known. For the price, I may try again...and now I know. But, be forewarned.

It is very hard to get this splitter plugged into my cigarette lighter then after I did get it plugged in, I can't get the adjustable arm tight enough to hold anything I plug into it stable. I have only plugged in my iPod FM transmitter but no matter how tight I turn the screw, the whole thing slowly slides down were I can't see the iPod display. I have not tried to plug more than one thing into this but after reading other reviews, I think I am afraid to do so.

Gave it 4 out of 5 only because it was not fully assembled on arrival. The 2 small nuts and bolts that retain the fuse holder were rolling around loose inside the case. Lucky they were both inside and by removing the end cap on the unit I was able to complete the assembly. Very happy with the way it works now.It's very quiet and cool running. It powers a 90watt laptop adapter and a GPS nonstop 10 to 16 hours at a stretch. Also with my old inverter my laptop battery would get very warm to the touch. Not so with this one battery stays cool and charged. F.Y.I. ran a #12 wire with inline 15 amp fuse from my battery to the power socket in the dash on my truck trying to help my old inverter function better so I continued to use the socket plug on this new one instead of hard wiring it to the battery.

I bought this cause I needed a new, cheap, charger for my Nuvi. The car charger and wall chargers work as advertised. The one drawback is the plug (or adapter for the plug) that goes in to the Nuvi. It's way too long and, since the port is at the bottom of the Nuvi, it makes the Nuvi hard to properly mount in the car (I have one of the beanbag mounts so it sits on the dashboard rather than hanging from the window). I have to push the Nuvi so it's hanging almost half off the dashboard just so I can tilt the screen down to where I can actually see it since the plug is in the way. If your original Nuvi car charger breaks and you need a cheap one this works but it may be worth it to get an official Garmin charger instead. You get what you pay for.

I was very disappointed to discover that my brand-new 2011 model year vehicle did not come with any kind of garage door opener/homelink option. In looking for a garage door remote, I had purchased another Chamberlain remote that worked well but I didn't like the idea of keeping a remote "loose" in my car (too easy for thieves to break in steal it while getting my address from my insurance and/or registration cards). I liked the idea of a keychain remote but it seemed like none of them were capable of controlling more than one kind of a garage door at a time. I called Chamberlain to ask them if they had any keychain remotes that could control more than one type of garage door and they recommended the 956EV. Boy, am I glad they did this thing is great!!!!

It's a tiny remote (almost identical in size to my key fob but lighter) and it can control 3 different doors. I programmed it to control my garage door (green learn button), my mother's garage door (orange learn button) and my sister's garage door (purple learn button). It could not have been easier to program (probably took me 3 minutes total for all three doors) and I love being able to open all three doors via a tiny remote on my keychain. I know that some people won't want to add anything else to their keychains but if you're like me and don't want to keep a remote in your car, this is the way to go. Kudos to Chamerlain for making such an awesome device.

Before purchasing though, make sure your garage door is compatible with this device. It says that it will only work with 315MHz or 390MHz garage door openers manufactured after January 1, 1993 and your garage door needs to have safety sensors. It works with green, red, orange, purple and yellow learn buttons so chances are it will work with most openers out there but make sure you check what kind you have before you purchase. If your garage door is compatible, you will love this thing. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

We normally use our garage door as our main entrance, and we were looking for a smaller alternative to our Chamberlain 953D 3-Button 315 MHz Remote Control remotes. This 956EV remote is not as small as I thought it would be but is close enough to fit in your pocket. It has three different buttons that you can set them for three different doors, like office and residential, or you can just set all keys for the same door. If you have been in the market for one of these remotes, you already know that there are compatibility issues regarding which frequencies to choose. Fortunately, this particular 956EV model is new and universal. It means it should operate on both 315 MHz and 390 MHz units, and you have one less thing to worry about.

The whole setup is easy, and it takes only 10 minutes or less. You just need to activate remote learning mode by inserting a pin to the bottom corner of the right side, and then push the learn key on your garage door opener head unit. After this, you have 30 seconds to push the desired key several times until it matches with the unit and the light goes off or the door opens/closes. Do not press the button too fast or you will miss the spot. Allow at least one second between each press. After the unit has found your remote, you can press any other key on the remote to exit the learning mode. It is that easy.

If you set up this properly, it should work flawlessly. I never have to push the button more than once to open/close the door as one of the other reviewers has mentioned here. The range is very good as well. It is just a few feet shorter than 953CD. Considering its smaller size, I have no complains.

I have uploaded a few side-by-side pictures of 956EV with 953CD and Apple remote, so you can have a better understanding of the size and thickness. It is not as thin or as small as I would like it to be, but it is good enough for its application. It is a little thicker than Lift Master keychain remotes, but I do not think those are universal or multi-bands, which explains the thickness on this one. I hope this review helps you further in your decision.

I just purchased a 2012 vehicle as well that didn't come with the Homelink feature. About a month ago, I went to purchase a keychain remote opener and they only had one left and it was the Chamberlain 956D. That remote worked PERFECTLY. When I found that I needed another couple for other reasons, I went to purchase another 956D and they only had this newer model the Chamberlain 956EV Garage Keychain Remote.

I purchased three of these and set them all up to work with my garage door opener. The setup was very easy. No problem at all. None of the three worked well beyond that so it was completely not that I got a bad one. Once I set them up, all of them worked, but not with the first button push EVER. Each one took two or three pushes. Since I was going to give these to my children so that they could get in the house after school when they got home, I didn't feel sure they would work.

Also, they felt much more flimsy than the 956D.

I really do not recommend this product at all -if you like the size and the convenience, go with the 956D. Very easy to setup, not flimsy, works with the first button push every time.

I have had it about 3 months. I tried programming it without reading and thought it didn't work until I read the instructions. Ha ha. There's a little button you must push with a paper clip, well, read and really follow the instructions. I bought it for a new Chamberlain opener, used to have a Craftsman, and on reflection the extra steps in programming are worth it so it doesn't accidentally lose the setting. Twice my Craftsman banging around in my pocket or purse caused the remote to lose its code. This one never will. I wish these folks would make a one-button remote as tiny as possible--all we want is small and 1 opener. Who the heck has 3 garages and why do their needs matter more than mine. Even families with double doors stick the same car in the same bay all the time. But this is as small as it gets, it has great range--I can open the door from the mailbox and I couldn't with my other remote.

I docked it a star because I'm reserving 5 stars for the 1-button remote about half the size of this one, if it ever comes to market.

Only gave it four stars because, while it's small-ish, it's not as nice as the inexpensive third party remotes that work with older Chamberlain openers.

FYI: If you have a Chamberlain opener that isn't working with the Homelink system in your car, and the information says it should, you can get a repeater from Homelink for only a $7 shipping charge. Call Homelink and see if your opener is on the list. The repeater works, though it shouldn't be necessary.
