Excelvan FM TRANSMITTER for iPhone 5 4S 4 3GS 3G iPod TOUCH MP3, Hands-Free

Excelvan FM TRANSMITTER for iPhone 5 4S 4 3GS 3G iPod TOUCH MP3, Hands-Free
  • Brand: Excelvan. Please note the car charger is not compatible with Iphone, it is compatible with the FM transmitter and other 5 pin micro usb connector.
  • Line-out 3.5mm.
  • Provides hands-free conversations through your car speakers.
  • Built-in lithium battery ( Includes car charger ).
  • Dimensions: 58.5 x 30.0 x 11.5(mm)

This is wonderful to have. I get to listen to my own music on my ipod rather than my cd's. I recommend this item to anyone who is looking. It has a little feedback but not much. I gave it only 4 stars because it's very limited on it's range. I set my ipod directly on top of my radio and the antenna is just on the outside of the car to the right so I get a pretty good signal but if you bring it back a little then there is a lot more feedback.

Love the fact that I can plug in my charger cord right into it and charge my phone the same time it plays through the transmitter. However whenever I am listening to music through the transmitter, it will shut off quite a bit, and I have to turn it back on.

The product turns off very often, and when using the USB for charging the iPhone, the phone heats up. Poor product, do not buy

Want Excelvan FM TRANSMITTER for iPhone 5 4S 4 3GS 3G iPod TOUCH MP3, Hands-Free Discount?

I have no clue how many transmitter Ive given away to anyone that would want them, how many visit to best buy to purchase a fm transmitter, unfortunately the car I have is a mazda 6 and our cars have to cassette player option or an AUX option which brings me to have so many options of syncing my music on the phone to my car radio. This FM TRANSMITTER is the solution, The stations it picks up and the sound quality is amazing. The block itself does tend to move around but its not like your suppose to be in constant contact while your driving. One recommendation though purchase a bluetooth so you can talk because attached to this transmitter will be a little difficult to talk.

It works, but the quality is not up to par and using it with an iPhone 5 is less than perfect. Due to the placement of the 3mm jack on an iPhone 5, the display of the transmitter lines up with the back of the phone. You have to swivel the transmitter and have it hang off the side in order to see the phone display and transmitter display at the same time. The sound itself is ok, not great.

Cliplight 12 Volt 6 Amp Battery Charger

Cliplight 12 Volt 6 Amp Battery ChargerI have been using one of these for about 15-18 years, maybe longer. I have a car alarm hookedup to secure my garage. I keep this hooked to the battery that powers it. It is always on and works great. In that time I have only gone through 2 batterys, so it really increased battery life.

Charger was sent quickly and arrived on time in a well packed box. The unit replaces and older unit and works well. Thx

Buy Cliplight 12 Volt 6 Amp Battery Charger Now

This unit was purchased to replace an identical unit that failed. The failed unit was used on an industrial lift cart, and appears to have failed due to metal chips from manufacturing processes getting into the case and causing a short on the circuit board. Even so, it had lasted over five years and had worked very well during that time. It is designed to be connected to the battery continuously and has circuitry to reduce the charging current when the battery is fully charged. It performs this function well. The manufacturer of the lift cart should have protected the charger more effectively from contaminants found in industrial settings. The unit is sturdy, reasonably priced, and has LEDs to show the charge status.

OBD II 2 CAN U281 Car Trouble Code Reader Scanner Memo Diagnostic Tool Scanner VW AUDI

OBD II 2 CAN U281 Car Trouble Code Reader Scanner Memo Diagnostic Tool Scanner VW AUDIBest $20 I have spent for maint. on my wife's car.

This reader breaks the codes into 4 categories; Engine, Transmission, ABS and Airbag.

Reads and clears all, the only SLIGHT drawback is it displays the original 5 digit VW/VAG codes and not the 4 digit OBDII codes most of us are used to. The provided manual however has all the codes in it, so this is a MINOR (if any) inconvenience.

Great product and saved me hundreds in diagnostic costs at the "Stealership!"

Cheap and effective, my favorite two things in the whole world!

My jetta had a airbag light on. The dealer wanted $98 to read and clear it for me. I bought this and cleared it myself. It was super easy.

Buy OBD II 2 CAN U281 Car Trouble Code Reader Scanner Memo Diagnostic Tool Scanner VW AUDI Now

Bought this after seeing a video on "YouTube" being used to clear an Airbag light on a VW Beetle.

Hmm...really? I figure $22 I'd give it a shot. Unfortunately did nothing, no codes, nor clear the light.

I ended up buying a "VAG" scanner. It pulled up 3 codes and I was able to clear the light!

If you're a do it yourselfer like me, buy a "VAG" scanner. Expensive pays for itself after one or two uses.

Clarion MiND 4.8-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Black)

Clarion MiND 4.8-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
  • Portable Internet-connected navigation/entertainment device in black with for GPS turn-by-turn directions and multimedia playback
  • Pre-loaded with Navteq maps and 2 million POIs for U.S. and Canada; send Google Maps information to device; 2D and 3D map views
  • Store music, movies, and photos on 4 GB internal memory or on optional MicroSD memory cards; pre-installed MySpace and YouTube software
  • Connects to the Web via Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) or through Bluetooth-connected cell phone; access to email; PDF viewer
  • Includes car and AC chargers; rechargeable battery provides up to 1.3 hours of continuous use

6/3/2009 Update

I've been using the device for a few weeks now. It has a lot of potential and things can be done, but many applications/features lack the quality of a mature product: inconsistent and unfriendly interface, missing features etc.

Major issues:

1. Small POI database. Only 2 mln POIs, and so far, no way to buy or import additional POIs. Big problem for me, and no easy way around. Finding missing POIs using Google at home takes longer than on a regular GPS unit with built-in POIs. You cannot use Google on the road (or it is much more difficult). Some GPS devices have 6 or more millions of POIs; you can really appreciate it after using the limited 2mln Clarion's database.

2. POI search speed can be from 10 seconds to 3 minutes!!! depending on user's entry. 3 minutes it is just an absurd number. It must be fixed.

3. No Bluetooth hands-free calling. (The GPS is supposed to work with a phone. Why not hands-free calling? I need a BT headset? How many more electronics should I carry?)

4. Bluetooth dial-up network (DUN) doesn't work with my phone. I was surprised because it was one of the major selling points. Clarion provides only a list of compatible networks and my network is on that list. No list of compatible/supported phones.(My phone's DUN works with my other devices)

My hope is that Clarion will keep releasing updates and improving its functionality.

Written before 6/3/2009

The great:

1. Integration with the Internet:

a) You can send POIs from the Internet to ClarionMiND. Even with good GPS units finding POIs may be difficult: you either don't find it or you find too many. ClarionMiND lets you plan your trip on your computer at home using Google Maps, and send POIs to the device. Great feature!!!

b) Great desktop-class Internet browser. You will be able to do everything you can do on your desktop at home, including Flash videos.

c) Google search, and it is integrated with navigation.

2. Navigation (I will update this review on route quality after I use the unit more):

a) So far routes look good.

b) Lane assist. It shows which lane on a multi-lane road you should take.

c) Nice job with voice directions. For example, it tells you something like, "go to the right side of the road" in order to prepare you for right turn.

d) All info needed for navigation is on the screen: compass heading (N, NE, E...), arrival time, distance, next and current street.

e) auto-zoom.

3. POI

a) Very fast search

b) You can preview POIs on the map. This is something nice and unique. You can select a single or a group of POIs and see them on a temporary map.

4. Address entry

a) Very fast.

b) QWERTY keyboard

c) Predictable entry. Only valid keys are active. As you keep entering data, it shows what was found at the top of the screen.

d) It remembers previous entry, and lets you re-start search from any level: state, city, street.

5. Hardware:

a) Gorgeous, high-resolution, large screen

b) Touchscreen works well. It is responsive.

c) Dedicated hardware buttons for Home, Top Menu, Music/Sound.

d) Great to hold in hands

6. Free Internet traffic. So far, I didn't find if it is integrated with navigation. There will be an option for radio traffic which, most likely, will be integrated.

7. Internet weather, news, email etc

8. Fast GPS lock. Less than 30 seconds.

The bad:

1.POI database is small. I couldn't find retail stores like, Walmart, Target, Costco etc

2.The car mount is awful. It is a few 100s dollars device with a "$1" mount. Very difficult to mount/dismount.

3.After you mount the device, it automatically limits its Internet functionality. Result: you cannot use the Internet in your garage when the device is mounted. You have to dismount it 1st, check the Internet, mount it again. AWFUL!!! If they wanted to make it safe, they should detect vehicle speed from the GPS.

4.Addresses are not displayed in the American format (number street, city zip), but as zip city street number.

5.Keyboard

a) Inconsistent keys. Sometimes, it is character-only; sometimes, characters and digits.

b) Inconsistent behavior: to accept, sometimes you have to click "Back", sometimes "Enter"; sometimes something else.

6.Too many keystrokes needed to see the route overview.

7.Current time is not displayed during navigation.

8.The device gets very hot.

9. Video player doesn't accept many video formats.

The bottom line:

It is a great navigation device: very fast, detailed spoken commands, plenty of details on the screen, great map, good routes. The device could be a perfect GPS but they have to add more POIs, BT hands-free calling, and polish the interface. ClarionMiND works very well with the Internet: it will have more or less of a practical meaning for different people.

Overall as a GPS I pretty much agree with "Stan Matofu's" review of the device above. However, I purchased this device in December primarily as a portable media player for my car. Everything else that this device offers was extra, especially considering that I purchased this device for a shade over $100. After having it for a couple of weeks and hacking on it for a while, I would say that I am pretty pleased with the device. Firstly, the device has an Intel Atom Z530, Intel GMA500 (Poulsbo) integrated graphics and 4GB SSD, which is pretty "standard" netbook/UMPC class hardware. With the standard USB port that is built in, one can attach a thumbdrive of practically any size for an infinite amount of music on the go. Additionally, by plugging in a USB keyboard, and switching to virtual console 3 (Ctrl-Alt-F3), you can login as the root user and hack the device to your pleasure (default password is '1234'). Wifi support is pretty rock-solid. DUN support over Bluetooth works well with my Blackberry Storm, which is great because I can use this device as a quasi-internet tablet while in the car(parked of course :) ) The device itself is based on Asianux Midinux Linux which is a offshoot of Fedora. Ubuntu's netbook remix also runs on the device. Installing whichever OS you want on the device is pretty simple, as the USB ports are 1st in the boot order of the device. Heck, even Windows XP runs like a champ on this device. The hardware, according to its specifications, supports up to a 4GB microSD card. I've happily been using a Transcend 8GB microSDHC card with this device to store my music. At its original price of ~$600, there would be no way that I would have bought it. As a ~$100 GPS unit, it is quite serviceable. It has its quirks as all devices do, yet it has some pretty nice features, especially if you can connect it via PPP over Bluetooth so that it gets Internet in-vehicle. Finally, as a portable Linux based computer, it is very much worth the cost alone. I am purchasing a second one, just because it is so hackable.

I have used this unit for a few weeks. The navigation part is excellent. Google search is useless without Wifi. POI is a joke...it cannot even find Walmart down the street. In order to get any usefulness in searches, I had to setup Wifi in my car. Traffic integration is awful. The traffic applet cannot zoom. You have to switch screens to see traffic. This cannot be done if you mount the unit. Mounting the unit switches it to car mode. The traffic receiver NK1U works okay if you get a signal. See my review. Overall, the unit is still very rough. I am hopeful that with software updates, traffic can be updated via Wifi instead of the Docking station. I had a Dash Express prior to this unit, but it got stolen. The Dash Express had better traffic information...I miss my now stolen and dead (company is on skeleton crew) Dash Express.

Want Clarion MiND 4.8-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Black) Discount?

1st off, I use this device primarily as a "MID not a MIND"; can do without the GPS navigation, I know my directions well nuff and can still actually read a map.

1. What I find are its outstanding qualities:

Amazon price for this product for what's basically a miniature surfing computer spells out as a nice little cheap toy!

Wi Fi connection, this machine seems to instantaneously hook up faster than my laptop or hard rive.

Browser, surfing, e-mails, etc. as described; works just like a larger laptop or desktop. I understand you can surf with most smart phones now, but their screens are still way to small for my taste.

File manager and RealPlayer software for storing some important pics, those good enough that you can use for your Clarion wallpaper choices, other so-so pics can stay in the flash drive.

Good enough size LCD screen, clean picture resolution, vibrant colors. Audio good enough for this small device.

Real Player software good enough to use for watching MP4 movies while sitting around in a plane plus opening your picture files.

2. Good: 4 GB internal memory only, however, I am always using USB 2.0 flash drives. One of my 8 GB flash drive hold ups to 6-7 full length DVD movies, MP4 files that is.

3. Sucks: Battery life, charged and re-charged this a few times and I feel like I'm only getting 30-45 minutes life out of it. This in mind, I usually keep it plugged in while monkeying around with it in the sofa. I am getting a Duracell 100 watt mobile power source to use, see if this'll get me an extended 2-3 hours more when I can't find an outlet.

Bottom line, for a $129 mobile internet device with Free Amazon Shipping, what's not to like about this?! Gave this a 5-Star, discounting battery performance which I believe is totally independent of this device's useful capabilities.

It is a great device. It would be much better if it was able to hook up to any available wireless or Wi-Fi connection automatically. Also the GPS is not as accurate as my Navigon unit. Maybe with a few firmware updates it can be an excellent all around GPS and internet device. It is a great device for the new price.

Honda Odyssey Wireless DVD Headphones Kids Headset (Black)

  • Small form factor, lightweight and durable construction for comfort
  • Padded over-ear headphones for high quality sound
  • Folding, dual channel, auto off, adjustable headband
  • Free Shipping. 30 day money back guarantee. Batteries Included.

I ordered 2 of these headsets & was happy when they came within a couple of days. We opened 1 of the headsets, inserted the batteries & even during these 1st few moments I noticed that they seemed of poor quality. Once we tried to use them in the mini-van, the kids couldn't get them to work. In trying to fiddle with the volume & channel selector, the foam ear piece fell off of one ear. By the time I worked with the headset for a few minutes, the 2nd foam ear piece came off. I am returning the 2nd unopened set & chalking the broken set up to experience. You truly do get what you pay for.

Great video even at night with very little lighting. No more doubts as to what happened or who was at fault. Prompt service, received it in a matter of days. I personaly will be keeping an eye on this Seller for further needs without a doubt.

Got free two day shipping with prime and it showed up a day early.

I bought a brand new 16GB micro SD card with adapter because when I tried to put in a card with data on it, it wouldn't format it.

I installed this mirror so that the power cord is hidden underneath the roof carpet and trim panels. It looks good this way because it prevents the cord from hanging down in front of you. It looks more professional.

Recording with both cameras at the same time shows up choppy on the display ONLY WHILE RECORDING. Once the file has been saved and you go back to watch it, the video is a lot smoother.

I like that you can turn off the screen while you drive and it still records. This makes it much easier to actually use the mirror and if you are recording on the mirrors battery it will save some juice.

The night vision works fairly well. The leds are infrared so they wont obstruct your vision while recording. It records better than expected at night.

Make sure you set up the time accurately so the time stamp will be correct if an accident occurs.

This mirror works very well, I will post a second review if it stops working correctly.

Tripp Lite PV1000HF PowerVerter Ultra-Compact Inverter 12V to 120VAC 1000 Watts (4) 5-15R Outlets

This is the 2nd inverter(returned 1st one for same reason). Supposed to put out 110 to 120 volts but output is only 90 volts with 13 volt imput and no load. This time I ordered a Xantrex pure sine wave inverter.

I have used or been familiar with Tripp-Lite products for many years, from revolving emergency lights to surge-suppressing power strips to this fine product and others. I have never once been disappointed. I have not yet exercised it to its maximum capacity but would recommend it for anyone.

P.S. I saw a post somewhere in which a gentleman referred to the output voltage being low. As a point of information, the voltage reading will not always indicate like typical line voltage because of the pseudo-sine wave output and depending on the meter that is used (digital dual-slope integration vs analog vs cheap vs technical level of experience) to acquire the reading.

Want Tripp Lite PV1000HF PowerVerter Ultra-Compact Inverter 12V to 120VAC 1000 Watts (4) 5-15R Outlets Discount?

To be fair, I am not an electrician. I am a programmer. But after studying different small-scale solar installations, I decided to go with this inverter because it came recommended by Mother Earth News.

After hooking everything up per instructions, I can successfully turn the lights on, then the radio, then a battery charger for my cordless drill.

But, if I try to start my radio, then turn the lights on, the on-board breaker pops on this inverter. It is really getting annoying.

I am also only getting 89VAC out and no load. It's like this thing can't handle any kind of load.

I'm sending this back.

Powerful External Remote Amplified GPS Antenna Receiver for Garmin Nuvi

Powerful External Remote Amplified GPS Antenna Receiver for Garmin Nuvi
  • 1. External Active Antenna for GPS
  • 2. Allows more flexible antenna placement for better reception
  • 3. Magnetic base and water resistent

Update December 2010:

DO NOT leave this plugged into the GPS for extended periods when not being used.

It consumes a small amount of power, and will flatten the GPS's internal battery within a few days. There was an even worse problem in one of my cars which was not used for several weeks. It left the car battery TOTALLY flat when it and the GPS were left plugged-in to an un-switched 12v outlet (even though the GPS was switched off).

I still rate this item as ***** (5 stars) now that I know how to easily avoid a flat car battery. Just unplug it!!! All 5 antennae I have bought are still working fine (as is my now-ancient Nuvi 350).

Update December 2009:

I continue to be impressed and bought 2 more to give as gifts. AND No! I have no personal interest in the company (unfortunately). Improves speed of signal acquisition in my Garmin nüvi 765/765T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic especially noticeable when the GPS has not been been used for many days. Again, thoroughly recommended.

----------

Update April9 2009:

I was so pleased with this item that I bought 2 more so that they are permanently installed on my cars.

----------

I came across this item while browsing Amazon for reviews on new GPS. I needed to replace my 30 month old Nuvi 350 which was non-functioning displaying the dreaded "Cannot Acquire Satellites" error message. The 2 reviews on this antenna both stated that its use had resolved this issue. Further investigation confirmed similar results with other comparable antennae.

I had returned a Nuvi 750 because its performance was inferior to the 350. Seeing that the cost of both the antenna and shipping was minimal I decided that I did not have much to lose by ordering one.

When it arrived, I connected it to my 350 and dumped them both on the passenger seat. My hopes were high but my expectations were low.

In a very short time I noticed that my old 350 (previously destined for the garbage) was now fully functional. Further investigation revealed that signal strength is far higher that it had previously been. Signal acquisition is also very much quicker.

The antenna itself measures 1-3/4" x 1-3/8 x 9/16", has a 10' 1/8" diam. cord and has a powerful magnet for easy routing and exterior attachment. Since I am getting such good signal strength, I shall probably place it permanently above the dash where it will attract less unwelcome interest.

My other pleasant surprise was that it had arrived in Maine (from Texas) 3 days after placing my order.

When I finally replace my Nuvi 350, it (and this antenna) will continue to be used in our second car. My new GPS (maybe 765?) will be ordered along with a second antenna hopefully from the same seller (if not Amazon.com itself).

One caveat:

The antenna's plug could be improved. It is tiny and difficult (very hard on finger nails) to remove. I plan to attach a more substantial grip (maybe a 1/2" diameter plastic disc or similar shape) using epoxy glue to eliminate this minor problem.

This is not enough of a problem to reduce my 5-star rating.

FYI:

The Nuvi has a direct connection for an antenna rather than through its quick-disconnect mount (a design upgrade would be a major improvement!!!) therefore this item must be unplugged whenever removing the GPS.

Buy Powerful External Remote Amplified GPS Antenna Receiver for Garmin Nuvi Now

This antenna performs as advertised. My Garmin Nuvi GPS was suffering increasingly intermittent connections with satellites. Eventually, it would only rarely locate my car, and several times I had to resort to my phone's GPS to get where I was going. Apparently, from browsing the web, this is a fairly common problem for Garmin units.

I was procrastinating before spending hundreds of dollars on yet another GPS, when I spotted a claim of this solution on a random web page, and then found it on Amazon and saw favorable reviews.

It still might take up to 30 seconds to locate the car when starting, but then the connection is rock solid. At about $20, it is a tiny fraction of the cost of a new GPS unit. The cable is longer than necessary, about 6 feet rather than the necessary 1 or 2 feet, but the antenna itself is compact. It makes putting the unit out of sight slightly more cumbersome, with the extra wire emanating from the GPS, a minor hassle.

[a few days later after looking at the extra cable for a while, I wrapped it around, out the door, and used the magnet under the antenna to stick it on my car roof the extra cable is actually a good thing.]

Instructions were minimal. The user simply plugs the cable into the little connection on the GPS antenna flap that lifts up from the back of the unit.

It worked for me, thanks Amazon and its diligent and accurate reviewers.

Our Nuvi 660 would no longer acquire satellites. After attaching this external antenna, it now works again. Does not come with any manual or setup recommendations.

Want Powerful External Remote Amplified GPS Antenna Receiver for Garmin Nuvi Discount?

I bought the antenna to fix my reception problem with Garmin 350. The signal reception has been restored and looks like works even better than original Garmin chip that broke.

So, if you need cheap fix for Garmin I recommend to try this before spending money on new device.

Disadvantage in my case the cable is too long

As many reviews have suggested, I also had a Garmin Nuvi 660 that had been slowly getting worse and worse reception until it finally would get no signal at all. I had it for over 3 years and traveled extensively with it, so figured it was just the end of the road. I read something about trying this product and figured it was worth a shot for the price. This completely fixed the problem, and in fact, never have any issues with the unit trying to find satellites. The only drawback is that for traveling purposes, having to takes this along is a bit of a headache. (I'm talking about on planes and using rental cars.) As I have stopped traveling and can just keep it in one car, then it is not really an issue.

Overall, very pleased. It saved me from having to buy a new GPS.
