I got this so I could put my wires into something and attach them to the battery. It is for my underglow and bare wires inside the terminals wasn't the best idea I don't think. Anyways, these will now go outside the socket and not inside. I think that is why my battery died. This kit has much more in it than I thought, looks exactly like picture, but more terminals than I thought. Great variety of sizes as well. It will fit my battery terminals just fine and then some. There are several comments about static. You can remove the static by turning the volume on high on the mp3, and adjusting the radio volume. This immediately removes the static.

It worked first time for me. Looks like some people have had trouble. It worked on the channel like it came set -the lowest one (107.6?). If I wiggle the plug into the headphone jack, I get static -so I stopped wiggling. I have a 1-ton, 4WD truck with a stiff suspension and I've yet to hit a bump that causes the static.

Sound is clear and good quality. The thing is only about 2.5" long so it fits anywhere. 12V adapter is great & no replacing batteries (2) AAA's. If you don't want the power cord, it unplugs from the transmitter.

It seems that a dozen sellers market this thing under different names. It's so much cheaper than the others that it's worth a try, even if you decide you'd rather pay more for high-end unit. The expensive ones probably use the same electronics in a bigger box. ;")

I received the transmitter yesterday. Here is what I learned:

1. You need to have batteries in the device to let it transmit. If you just use the supplied car adapter, you get nothing.

2. Be very careful turning the power on. Apparently, I pressed too hard and now the button is stuck in the on position. I'll be getting a screwdriver out to open up the unit and see why it is permanently on.

3. Be careful how hard you pressed the power when turning it on. The transmitted sound comes with a lot of static if you pressed to hard.

4. Sound quality is poor. I expected some reduced quality from the unit to my speakers, but the filtering just seemed like too much.

I am glad this only cost me $5.53 including shipping. I figured that if I had a bad experience, I could warn others and then drop $40 on a decent unit. If it worked, I would have saved about $25. I took the risk and lost. I've ordered the MBL-FM XMTR300 (Monster RadioPlay 300 Universal Full Spectrum FM Transmitter for $38.13).

I've owned a similar item, the only difference was that it operated on 88.1 to 88.9 which worked great almost everywhere, but ended up short circuiting and I would struggle to receive a signal, so I decided to purchase this item. Radar detector manufacturers have always promised the ultimate in traffic ticket protections, but for years they delivered something less than adequate when comparing the final product to the advertised claims.

Some of this is still evident, even with this fine model, such as the claim to have increased response time to "instant on" photo-radar by 200%. This is supposed to be a good thing and make you feel more protected, and in a sense you are, but the mere fact that instant on radar is so quick that if you are the targeted vehicle and you are speeding, you are done. It happens so fast that a 1000% increase would not help you in that scenario.

But, every millisecond counts!

This unit does not have voice alerts (Low importance for me) or a built in compass (a fading feature that I like).

Fast driving, tech savvy drivers like me have always used our radar detectors as a tool in our speed driving kit. I don't rely on it exclusively, but I do learn the road and where I will here a beep and where I don't. I try to drive so that the radar signal I am intercepting is being aimed at a car in front of me so that I can take time to react because if they are aiming at me, it is a slim chance that I can react fast enough to help.

Twenty years ago these devices were very expensive, promised the world and delivered a lot of useless noise. With this model of Passport, I believe these units have evolved into a useful tool for everyday driving and interstate speeding.

I've been testing this unit out on the highways on New England and had great results. The most important feature is the lack of false alarms. Before I bought this unit my old radar detector gave me so many false alarms I simply grew used to the sound of it chirping. Now, when I hear a noise, I know it is most likely something I need to react to.

The range is terrific and actually does a nice job of giving you a little warning before you reach the speed trap. Pay attention to this unit because it gives out a lot of information that you can use.

Features I like:

· Using the multi-source expert mode, it can monitor more than one signal at a time: A lot of traffic lights up here are so seldom used that they incorporate a X-band radar unit to know when a car is waiting at a red light. I have driven over a one lane bridge recently that had a sensor on both sides and a speed trapping state trooper hidden in the brush waiting to catch me. This unit alerted me to each signal, along with the relative strength as expressed in a strength meter. This was very nice, I felt like I was in total control, knowing how many sources were transmitting and allowing me to figure out what to do. Your readout will show all of the alerts at once, each with its own strength bar.

· You can set it up to tell you the numerical frequency of the transmission. This is very nice for you hard core tech heads out there. I'd like to see this feature exploited further and have it learn the unique signatures of different devices and report them (imagine a warning: state trooper, same one as yesterday!). It is also a way of seeing different sources, though different than the multi-source expert mode described above.

· You can set it up to monitor your system voltage and give you a constantly updating readout, unless an alert is triggered and then you wont see it again until all radar sources are gone. Wow, I can't tell you how impressed I am with this feature. To sum it up in one word, troubleshooting. It's just as good as hooking up a fluke to your electrical system and monitoring it while driving. In a couple of drives you can evaluate your battery, alternator and electrical system, all the while monitoring for radar traps. Who thinks of this stuff!

· You can have the display do some cool scanning type graphics. All tech type people like to impress their under funded, low knowledge friends and girlfriends with this graphic trick that makes your radar detector look more like the eye piece for a Xylon warrior from the old Battlestar Galactica (by your command....) It gives you a comfortable feeling that the airwaves are being scanned, and the device is functional. This is a good thing, since you will rarely hear from it.

. This unit is very customizable and can be programmed easy. You can read the official reviews to get the details, but I will tell you that it is very easy.

Also, forget what you thought about radar detectors of the past. This unit is actually heavy and reflects the amount of circuitry and detection equipment that was installed.

Never forget that radar detectors are a tool for you to use. They gather information about your surroundings. They are not fool proof and cannot be relied upon exclusively. I've spent several hundreds of dollars on detectors over the years, but this is the one I have been looking for.

By the way: Do not buy a radar jammer. They simply do not work. I've owned them, I've used them, I've thrown them out the window.

Another note: The price you see here on Amazon is a good one. You will be hard pressed to find it any cheaper and many places cannot even get them. I would not trust the refurb units you see on [other websites], but even those are going to be within [range]of this unit.

I bought a Passport 8500 to replace a BEL 610i, mainly to eliminate falsing. I routinely drive an Interstate that is a microwave corridor and the BEL was nearly useless in this area. The 8500 was astounding at rejecting false signals. I have experienced one "instant-on" scan of my speed and the detector response was quite good. What impressed me was it's ability to detect laser lidar. The 8500 went off, and I thought it was my phone. I reached for it, then realized that the ring was continuous. I saw the 8500 display and the LASER warning, and only then did the officer-user of the lidar come into sight just over a gentle hill. The 8500 detected the lidar from, I assume, scattering. I've been considering a pair of bluetooth headphones for a while. My iPhone is my work phone, and I was tired of having to pause my music in my Grados to answer a call on speakerphone because my iPhone was docked. (I was listening to audio via the Mac, not the iPhone.

Just got it yesterday and tried it for 7 hours non-stop on 3 different devices. So far, I'm very happy with it. The OT Adaptor does exactly what it said on paper. Suddenly, all my old speakers and headsets became alive again.

The package only contain the adaptor, USB power cable and instruction manual. There's no power charger but that's not a problem since the USB cable can be used with any standard charger that came with phones, tablets or other bluetooth devices. If there's nothing available, you still can plug it into a computer's standard USB ports.

The instruction is very straight forward and in English only. But this is a very simple device. The forward, backward, volume+/are very basic. The only thing to learn is how to use the center button (they called it multi functional button which is quite accurate). Hold it for couple seconds to turn on/off with blue/red light indicators (blue is on, red is off). Hold it longer than that and the adaptor will go into pairing mode with blue/red indicators flashing simultaneously. To take calls/hang up, tab the center button once. To pause music/movie, tab the same button once while the music/movie was playing. Very very simple to the point of no learning curve at all.

The design of the device is ok. It doesn't get all futuristic or head turner gorgeous but It feels really nice and solid in the hand despise the very compact size. However, it would be better to have more color to choose from.

My only complains are 1. There's no way to check battery level. Most of my bluetooth devices has a way or two to check the battery level either by pressing a button on the device or use another software to show battery level on my phones. This problem can be fix via software upgrade so I hope OT will come up with a solution in the future. 2. What's with a proprietary USB power cable. All my other devices including phones, headsets, tablets, speakers even my portable router use micro USB so I only need to carry one cable and a charger. I was very disappointed when I saw the OT adaptor came with their own design USB cable. Shouldn't be that hard to replace the port on the device and use micro USB instead. I saw other companies did this before but finally realize their mistake and switch to micro USB. Hopefully OT would do the same.

The battery last long. much longer than my bluetooth headsets. I was wondering at first if I had to clip the adaptor on my shirt when making a call so the microphone will pickup my voice better but designed to clip it on my pants' pocket like they did on their website and it still works great.

More: After been using it for about a week, I still found new ways to use this adaptor. First, I connected it to my car's aux port using an aux cable. The adaptor turned the car stereo into a bluetooth which was nice. Second, I connected the adaptor to my office stereo and control all the musics using my phone. The battery actually last 7 hours.

Two more complain is that it's a little hard to turn it on. Sometime I had to hold the center button a little longer and it still wasn't turn on. Another complain is the microphone quality. I've got complain from the other end said that my voice wasn't clear. Still happy with overall performance.

It is an awsome concept. I love being able to have this free me from direct connection to the handset, plus to be able to use my own high quality buds! with that said Outdoor Tech please note:

-The device has volume limitations so you cannot truly 'jam'

-takes a loooong time to pair even after initial paring...

-there are consistent 'breaks' in songs/video sound even though the iphone/ipad is right next to the ADAPT and fully charged as is the iphone/iPad

-people on calls were consistently complaining that the reception on my end was poor. again the phone was 3 feet away on my desk

For its tiny size and weight, this adapter is amazing. Clip it to your pocket or shirt and use any set of headphones or ear buds you wish. Use the supplied audio cable to connect to your nearby stereo system from your smart phone, and do other flexible things with it. Easy, fast charge (2 hours or so) from any USB port, and the charge has so far lasted about 12 hours of intermittent play time for me through the last few weeks, and still going strong. Read the brief instruction sheet carefully regarding on/off, pairing, answering a phone call (if you're using a smart phone), etc. All of it is done with the one multi-function button in the middle (and its little green and red lights). That is not a criticism, but a comment that reflects today's trend toward master control buttons that have to do "everything" to save space. You just have to get used to it. I've just tested this bluetooth gadget for two days on my ski helmet. It works great. The challenge with getting tunes into your helmet is finding a good set of earphone inserts AND a good way to control the music device, while also allowing you to get to the controller easily. The earphone inserts aren't that hard to locate. I used both the Skullcandy dropins and the Red_Phones from Burton. They have essentially the same audio quality in the helmet, and also have standard 3.5mm jacks and cables to connect to your device.

Controlling your music device, in my case an iPhone 4s, is a little more difficult. The Red_Phones only allow you to control volume and have a simple mute button, so you can't move tracks forward or back, and can't pause a song. The Skullcandy controller lets you change volume and tracks, but the button on the controller is very sensitive, and I found it a real pain to use accurately. And with both units you still have a wire from your helmet snaking somewhere inside your coat to the player. Not a big problem, but I'd rather have nothing connecting the helmet to the jacket.

So after way too much research, I began looking into bluetooth devices that would be small enough to attach to my helmet, and still allow easy controls for the phone. I stumbled across the ADAPT adapter, and for $40 thought I'd give it a try.

I spent two full days with the adapter, and clipped it to a variety of places on my jacket collar, goggle headband, and finally on the earpad of the helmet itself. Mounted there, the unit is always easy to find. The buttons are still a bit too small to operate when I have gloves on, but it was really easy to slip off my glove and adjust volume, tracks, even answer my phone with the built-in microphone.

The real beauty, in my opinion, is how clean the connection between the headphone inserts and the adapter becomes. The thing weighs practically nothing, and now I'm free of wires. I'm very happy.

The sound quality seems the same as when I had the wired versions working, perhaps a bit less loud at full volume. The adapter paired with the iPhone pretty easily, and the connection didn't drop once in my weekend of use. Also, I had read that the buttons might freeze up in the cold, but today was 8 degrees and windy. No problem with the buttons at all.

Take into consideration that the product is meant to give you the best option available for the purpose and environment in which it's used. Unfortunately the problem lies with the Infinity factory stereos and the interface options you have.

I too would be very intersted in a product that gave me full control of my ipod from my Infinity stereo but it will not be.

Considering the other option, which is to have a plug to the aux input and only control from your ipod, this solution is much better and at least gives you the ability to navigate through the playlist/artist/grouping that you've chosen (next/previous; ffwd/rwnd).

You can still use all features from you ipod to select your music and honestly if you select a playlist it should be running more than an hour or what's the point of having an iPod.

After a bit of research, I ordered a PA11-NIS from ShipSound. I installed the PA11 in my 2000 Maxima SE which took about 45 minutes start to finish. In general, installation was just about as easy as could have been hoped for. The cable running from the PA11 plugged right into the CD changer port on the back of the Bose HU. The harness for the remaining wiring (power, speakers, etc.) also snapped into place without issue. The cables are long so I did not have to worry about where I mounted the unit. The overall build quality seems seems good; the cables are thick and attach firmly, and the unit seems sturdy.

The bottom line: both the iPod and the aux inputs sound fantastic and the radio interface works just as advertised. The whole setup is well worth the increased cost from a cassette adapter or FM transmitter. Since the PA11 charges the ipod as well, there are no wires running around and no used 12v ports. If you care about how your music sounds and you have some DIY in you, this is definitely the way to go. I am very very pleased!

I had this installed in my Nissan 350Z Touring Edition (2006). Sound quality is great, and obviously it's amazing to have all my music with me in my car, not to mention streaming media like Pandora.

I use it with my iPhone 3GS. My iPhone claims he device is not supported when ever I plug it in, but generally seems to work with my stereo and it does charge my phone.

The reason why I say generally, is that there are a few quirks.

The device has a mode where you can control you iPhone and what ever you're playing will play through your car stereo. To use this, you have to set your radio to CD Changer mode and select a specific disk (5). Usually this doesn't work with my iPhone on the first try. I have to cycle the stereo power on and off at least once, sometimes more, before it will switch to the right disk (5) and work.

The device also allows you to move forward to the next track or move back using your stereo controls (mine are on the steering wheel). Again, this doesn't always work. Sometimes, but not always, I have to press the button twice for it to work. This sometimes leads me to skip a song, when it does actually work.

Overall...I recommend the device, especially because I don't see any good alternative for the price...and because the sound quality is great...and these are generally minor issues.

Contrary to another review, it does not disable the factory in dash cd changer, at least not on my 06 G35. You just hit the CD button on the head unit to toggle from internal changer to the ipod which the head unit now sees as an external changer. No issues.

The only thing it lacks is the ability to display track title info and time on the head unit. There are other adapters that have this feature but they cost more

We bought this to mount on our rv to keep the battery topped off. The mounting hardware is inadequate and there are no instructions for mounting. If you want to mount it to your RV, you will want to buy additional mounting hardware. The cord is not 11 feet long. It is only 7 feet long -not long enough to run from the roof to the battery bank in most rv's! If you need more length, guess you have to buy more parts if there are cords available or make one yourself. The panel arrived in flimsy packaging that was torn and crushed on two ends. Cost to return it to Amazon is about $29. We purchased it for $105 one day and then Amazon reduced the price by $15. Very disappointed in the product. Wish we had purchased a panel from a different manufacturer. Not happy with product and not very happy with Amazon today.

I puchased of two these kits and one additional panel to maintain my deep cycle batteries on my trailer. One came in a damaged box but was still usable. The 3 in 1 connector to enable hooking multiple panels together is almost impossible to locate from any source, including Nature Power, so I made up my own. The included charge controllers were inconsistant at best. one "kicks in" at 11.6 volts and off at 13.1 v. Another is on at 12.6 off at 13.4.Neither would begin charging at 13v and off at 14.2 as advertised. They don't provide the optimum charge rate for the my batteries but, they help.

The panels are small enough to allow mounting in confined roof areas with the included mounting kits.

RCA AM/FM/CD Flip-Down In-Dash With Portable MP3 USB Player

Ordered this and installed in my car about a year ago. Took some minor adjusting to get it to fit right. Seemed like very good quality out of the box. But the problem with RCA is that if it's not ordered by an authorized RCA retailer then they will not honor any warranty. Needless to say the unit I received was in need of such service. So let's begin with the PROS: The usb mp3 player is a great idea and what sold me on this unit. Not that I ever expected to detach it and go for a jog with it but the ability to record a song off the radio and then take it home and put it on your computer is super cool. It's why I purchased this unit and why, despite it's flaws I would actually purchase this unit again without a second thought. I am not an audiophile while driving. I am at home but in my car I have the windows down and am typically in my car primarily to get from point A to points B and beyond. So my needs were for a nice sounding unit with upgrade capability if later deemed necessary. That was my basic need which just about every car stereo out there matched. Beyond that I wanted knobs. I hate buttons for volume and tuning. I'm 30 so I'm still on the knob side of technology. They just plain work better. And they are much better suited for driving than a button barely the size of my finger nail. For the most part all of the controls make sense. It also comes with a remote that is a great size with all the features you'd need without a plethora of unnecessary buttons. But it is not needed for any function that the radio's direct interface can't navigate. Now for the CONS: The mp3 player is absolute rubbish. Don't expect to use it for anything at all besides recording that rare song or newsbyte. If NPR is your thing it would be very well suited. But the audio quality is really sub-par. Also the CD player tends to almost eat CDs. In fact I don't even carry a single CD in the car anymore because of how bad it is. The interface mostly makes sense but of course if I were to design the layout I would pretty much change everything. The only thing I would keep is the one-knob-per-side layout. A classic that I still think is the way to go. Sound manipulation is limited to balance bass treble fader. Nothing spectacular but good enough for me and my stock Toyota speakers.

BOTTOM LINE:

A great idea with poor execution. I would buy this again only because I don't think anybody else has done this. The idea of a built in detachable mp3 player that charges itself as you drive seems very basic but still I have yet to see another one. And at this point not having one would really irk me. If you do buy this make sure it's through an RCA retailer. Based on how many things were/are wrong with mine you're probably gonna need it.

UPDATE 2/05/12 Amazon is allowing me to return all six reels I bought with them paying postage, even though I bought them nearly a year ago. I have no need for spools of fake copper wire made out of 95% aluminum.

UPDATE 2/03/12 just today I became aware of the review by Kyle A. Stein, to see it click on the reviews of the black color of this same wire, BC4B-100. He reports that it only has a trace of copper and it's mostly aluminum. I will be contacting Amazon about possible fraud.

I just took delivery on a spool of this in black and a spool of it in red, and I'll describe it here... but first, I'd like to ask anyone out there if this is really copper wire.

IS IT?

Amazon is a nice buying experience usually, but in some cases like this there is no way to get a quick answer to a question, I don't know if I should return it or not.

The wire is silvery-color instead of copper-color. Now this could be because it's plated in silver or tin, which would be ok, or it could be that it's steel wire, which would not be OK. Wish me luck in figuring that out. The description claims it to be copper wire, but it is not copper color.

It is also not what one usually thinks of as battery cable, which is that fairly-rigid stuff that battery cables are made out of. This has much finer strands, and to my eye looks a lot narrower in the total strands than 4 gauge battery cable.

It is limp as a noodle, also unlike normal battery cable, and I assume it is more for installing stereo systems than being used as robust battery cable.

Any recommendations out there for how I can tell? I think I'll probably be returning it, because it simply isn't regular battery cable wire. But I might keep it IF it turns out to be copper wire.

The charger works fine, used it to power my laptop on a road trip I plan on using it for future trips. The power inverter isn't that loud so that is a plus.

It worked Okay for almost one year. Provided enough power to run a typical laptop as long as the car was running. If the car was only in accessories mode then it would cycle to generate power which caused terrible fluctuations!
