i was looking for a car starter, that had it's own battery, i could use on dead batteries. unfortunately, none of the ones i looked at would also charge a battery, which i also wanted. so, i decided just to get a charger, and found this one, with a 'start engine' option!!! well, i had a dead dead battery. i hooked it up, and went thru the 90 second super charge function rather then the normal charge function. the car almost started. manuals says the unit needs 5 minutes to cool down after a super charge(it actually shows the timer during the cool down), then to do the 90 sec super charge again. i waited the 5 min, did the super charge again, and the car started.

i am very pleased. the cord management features are a bonus.

Fair warning, I know less than squat about car batteries and chargers. I left the hatch open on my car for several days and I guess the light being on drained the battery. So I went down to the auto parts store and picked this out by the innie-minnie method. Basically, I liked that it was not as huge like the other models and it said it would jump start as well as charge (also tests alternator). Looked good to me.

Back in the garage, I had time so rather than jump start, I selected charge and everything seemed to go according to plan. The charger has a meter and it showed that battery was partially drained (needle did not reach into green zone but was not in red either). That makes sense since I had enough juice to turn the lights on but not enough to turn over the engine. After plugging it in, the display on the charger said "charging" and so I went away, came back some hours later, and it was done. Disconnected the charger and turned the key and the engine turned over like a jet. So based on that, I conclude that charger worked exactly as advertised. Hope that helps.

I use this while camping to recharge the 27 series deep cycle marine battery I run on at night with an inverter. The 25 amp output will recharge the battery from 10.6 volts to a full charge in 2 hours. I tried other smart charges with my little 800 watt generator but they refuse to operate correctly because the electric from the generator isn't clean enough for their liking. This one has no problem with that at all.

It's small and lightweight and stores well with the cord wraps on the sides. The display is backlit and easy to see at night while it displays the charging status and voltage as it chargers. The auto shut off function is a nice feature as well, no need to keep an eye on it so it doesn't overcharge the battery. I haven't had the need for the boost function as yet so I can't comment on that part but glad it's there in case I ever need it. Going to purchase a second one to charge my trolling motor batteries while charging the camping trailer battery.

I purchased these and am very happy with them. I originally purchased them to be able to use an auto battery with an outdoor power equipment project where the cables to the battery just had ring terminals at the end. Just as would happen if this were a boat project, my options were:

1) Get new battery cables with regular battery terminals at the ends

2) Get a new marine battery with marine terminals

3) Get these adapters

Obviously, I chose option #3, which turned out to be an even better choice than I had expected. The adapters do exactly what you would expect adapt regular battery terminals to accept marine-style ring terminated cables. What I didn't expect was how easy it would be to use. Unlike many dedicated marine batteries, these come with great plastic-coated and color-coded wing nuts on the studs, which make them easy to use even when it's cold and wet outside. With regular marine batteries, they often have hex nuts on the studs requiring a wrench or socket to install and remove -with these adapters, the cables can be attached and removed bare-handed, no tools required.

Not only would I buy these again, I will probably use them with the starting battery in my next marine project as well because of the nice features mentioned above.

This product works fine as a remote if you have lost yours, but don't buy it thinking you can take the buttons out to replace your worn buttons. These are slightly larger than the ones that came with the car. I bought this and a switchblade key with the hope of combining them and having a brand new key for my Nissan 350z, but I ended up having to use the old worn out buttons from my keyless remote. Note also that this doesn't come with the battery you will need to make it work OR the little silver piece that connects the positive side of the battery to the motherboard.

I bought it for $ plus shipping from Unbeatablesale.com and its useless. There isn't an ON and OFF switch to jump start the battery and it does not work at all. The air compressor is very loud and slow, it took me 10 minutes to inflate one Bicycle tire.

This is one poor excuse for a jumper box. It doesn't have enough power to actually do anything. The air compressor is worthless. I tried to air up the front tire of my little trail bike, a 1974 Yamaha 175 enduro, and after about 45 seconds it just quit and hasn't run since. After being on the charger for over 2 days I tried to use it to jump start my Datsun 260Z that has a little strait 6 in it. It couldn't even turn it over once muchless start it. The clamps on the ends of the cables that you are supposed to use to connect it to a battery are nothing but weak molded plastic with light weight copper contacts that bend with the least amount of pressure. I've seen wood clothes pins for a clothes line with more grip. I just got through trying to use it to jump start my lawn mower. After having it plugged into the charger for 2 days it only lasted long enough to spin the starter on the mower 4 or 5 times for a few seconds each time. Then it just run down and quit. And that was just a little 6.5 hp motor on a Stanley self propelled walk behind rotary mower with 12 volt electric start. So far the only thing that I have found this to be good for is a door stop.

Save yourself some aggravation, frustration and money, DO NOT get one of these.

The light works along with the compressor. However, when my Dad tried to boost a car with the jump starter, it did not work.

I have another jump starter at home in Brooklyn. It was made by Vector and it has a switch for on and off.

The jumpstarter that I ordered for my Dad does not have a switch for on or off.

I think that I may have received a defective piece of equipment.

After I got stranded in Minnesota (im from WI) and a passerby had one of these jump kits I thought I should get one for emergencies. Charged the pack according to the directions. I had an older, similar one that worked fairly well for over 5 years before internal battery died. So, for $50.00, I figured I get another. Bad mistake. Newer one was nothing but trouble. Compressor quit after about 6 months (using just for bike tires). Naturally the warranty was out, so I took it apart & found compressor motor had come loose from the compressor. Easy fix I thought but it didn't last: motor came loose again and now no way to re-attach it. So guess I'll just use it for jump starting as that feature still works., or sell it at a yard sale. This is truly well built. The white part of the Grommet tightens to attach the grommet to the firewall whereas the black part consists of tiny grooves which tightens around the wire as you turn thereby creating a tight waterproof seal. The grommet itself is very firm and seems to be able to stand high temperatures. One point to note, there is no 'stinger' logo or writing anywhere on this grommet.

What I did NOT anticipate, however, was that they are stamped "+" on top which looks a little odd when attached to a negative post. This is not visible once the plastic covers are in place, just figured I'd let buyers know.

Also, the allen screw that tightens the clamp onto the battery post strips out very easily. Don't even think of using a wrong size allen head, make sure you have the largest possible that will fit or you will be searching for a replacement screw. Overall, though, the quality is very good and lends a truly clean, custom look to my engine bay. These are impossible to beat for the money!

This terminal is nice because it came with an insert so that you can connect to either the positive of negative side of the battery so if you are looking to match buy 2 of these. The problem arises from the cover. When mounting it once the battery the cover wouldn't fit unless the terminal was placed towards the top of the battery's terminal. and the screw that clamps the cover down almost didn't tighten enough to hold it securely on the battery. If i wasnt using the cover this wouldn't have been an issue but i bought this terminal solely because of the plastic cover.

this is a nice heavy made product but it would be nice if they would make it the size it needs to be.it was to big for the positive post on my battery it would not tighten down.the bushing that they send to make it fit the negitive post makes the positive post to big!!! and i find this out after i cut the end off of my factory leeds.luckly i own a lathe and had some brass so i ended up making an insert to make a brand new product work.maybe i will call and see if they would like some inserts.they will even work like they should.

It is good to have charger like this in winter; starter boost is a big help. Since I assume that things I buy suppose to do the job they should, I will point out things I don't like about this charger. This charger should have Voltmeter. Amp meter can not be trusted. In maintenance mode (that should deliver up to 2 amps) meter was showing over 10A. I checked the real current flow with precision meter and it was only 1A; what good is the measuring instrument being so much off that one can't rely on? I used start boost on battery that was virtually dead; after couple of minute quick charge I tried to start the engine using the boost and had impression that this thing does not deliver promised 200A. Another couple of minute charge, I tried to start again. Third time was the charm. Yet, without this type charger I would have no options the car was parked in the way that I couldn't use jump cable.

So, general impression is that this charger is made cheap but, bottom line, it can do the job.

Great product, easily capable of charging dead batteries in a short period of time. I found it easy to use, easy to move around, and entirely suitable for my needs. The dual battery system in my farm truck, which was totally dead, was fully recharged in under 2 1/2 hours.

If there is one negative, it is in the quality of the assembly instructions for attaching the axle. One step, attaching the clips that hold the axle, was totally missing. While it was easy to see what those parts were and where and how to attach them to the bottom of the charger, the omission makes a person who is reading the instructions to the person doing the actually assembly work look rather silly.

I'm a 65 year old woman and highly recommend this charger to any woman who needs a good automotive battery charger because it is so easy to use, is light weight (35 lbs) and easy to move around, and because it's small foot print makes it easy to store.

I am a professional auto technician for a german auto dealer. I was looking for a battery tester to keep within reach to quickly test customer batteries during scheduled services. I was close to purchasing a $400 Snap On battery tester, but when held in hand felt very cheaply built in comparison to the price tag. I found this battery tester for a fraction of the price and decided to give it a try. The tester came as pictured, with an included orange silicone bumper cover around the device (edges). The quality of this product is great, the feel of the buttons and build is very nice. The unit is very small which is an added bonus, fits easily in any drawer of your tool box. Testing of batteries literally takes 1 second. And it tests DIN rating!! It is very accurate. Another great feature, the tester remembers the last options you chose (ex: type of battery tested, test rating CCA, DIN, etc). For the price this product is amazing. The LED read out display does have an orange plastic cover over it which can make it a little harder to read in sunlight. But, a razor blade can easily take care of this issue. ;) Two words: Do It!

It does seem to do the test I want, reserve capacity, which is harder to test than a basic load test or state of charge. A car battery can be fully charged, pass the load test, and still be old and sulfated enough to have very little reserve capacity.

One major verification I got was when I tested some smaller lead acid batteries I use in my uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The new battery passed with a reading of over 100 cranking amps. The bad ones showed a reading of about 5 amps, even though a voltmeter showed nearly 13v (full charge) on one of them. The 13v bad one passed the test that the UPS does when you turn it on (!), but it failed to keep a computer going at all when I cut the power to it. So this Solar tester beats the UPS's own test.

I'm also planning to use this to see if my desulfating battery charger can revive some old or junked car batteries.

We had a 3 year old battery die in the middle of the summer on one of our cars. The dealer warned me that the battery was weak when it was in for service. I assume they tested it with some kind of meter like this, so I started looking for a way to test the batteries in the other cars before winter. One of our foreign cars has a battery that is 5 years old that costs $320 installed, so I really wanted to avoid replacing it unless necessary.

I used the tester to check the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) on all of the cars. The new battery tested above the rated CCA and the most of the others were also close to the rated CCA. But the 5 year old foreign car battery tested at 50% of the rated CCA, so according to the meter, I SHOULD have replaced it. But I didn't, because the car needed new rotors and pads on all 4 wheels for around $1400, so the battery got put on hold.

So every cold morning, I go out and start it and hold my breath. The car with battery with 50% of the rated CCA has started with minimal cranking at temperatures down to 0 deg F, which is as cold as it gets around here. So I am a little suspect about the validity of this meter. I probably should replace a 5 year old battery, but I suspect this battery meter would have caused me to replace it earlier than I needed to. The problem is I don't know of any other place to have the battery tested that I really trust. Seems like they all want to sell you a battery. So the jury is still out on whether or not you can use this meter to decide if you should replace your battery.

It looks just like my factory key fob and it fixed the unlock button that was not working. I had no idea it was so cheap and easy to fix my clicker! This is a VERY NICE remote start unit.

I installed it myself in about 2 and a half hours. (I did my homework first, knew where and what color wires I needed to locate) The only problems I had were that my body doesn't flex like it used to. :(

The only disappointment to me was the units' "tachless mode" would not work on a (my) warm engine. Being as the unit senses the alternators' output to determine if the engine is running or not, and we all know that a car that has been driven for a while (warm engine) will have a battery that is near fully charged. So, the unit thinks the engine is NOT running being the battery needs little, if any of a charge. (Ask me how long it took me to realize this, as the unit worked fine at first, then would start and soon turn off with a fully warm engine) So, big deal, I had to attach 1 more wire,(Tachometer wire) right at the back of the gauge cluster, easy!

It has many, many options, timers, modes that will satisfy just about everyone out there.

Installation instructions were straightforward.

Wiring diagrams were VERY easy to understand.

Operating instructions were clear.

Programming the many options were clear, but trying to remember them all without printed directions is useless to my tired, old brain.

I have everything wired up correctly (triple-checked) and the lock relay in the unit is broken, so the car won't lock by the remote. All the other functions work just as they are supposed to.

After spending a ton of time researching the wiring of my truck and spending most of a day wiring it in, the unit malfunctioned and required unplugging it to stop the horn from sounding. I am extremely thankful that I left the starter relay unhooked or it would have burned up my starter during the malfunctioning. I am sure that this product works for most vehicles, but it did not work correctly in my application.

Battery Tender 021-0156 Battery Tender Plus 12V Battery Charger True Gel Cell Model

I just talked to the manufacturer. The regular Battery Tender Plus will charge lead acid, SGM, and Gel cell batteries. THIS model is not a regularly available model from the manufacturer, and should ONLY be used for the TRUE GEL BATTERY that is on the newer BMW motorcyles. This charger is optimized for that battery and is not optimized for other battery types (although it will work, but not optimally since it will not provide the best voltages needed.) A gel cell battery is not the same as a true gel battery, hence the confusion that people are having.

So .. will it work? Yes. Is it recommended by the manufacturer and optimized for other battery types? No.

The above is from my conversation with a representative from Deltran. Please do not flame me if you don't agree with what the manufacturer told me. I suggest you call them if there are disagreements. I just wanted to post this to provide some clarification since I am in the market for the Battery Tender Plus. Deltran's recommendation was to go with model 02-0128 unless I have the appropriate BMW motorcycle.

I purchased this product in February of 2011 and it seemed to work fine. It says that this model can be used as a battery charger and it will change from charge mode to float/maintenance charge mode without damaging the battery like trickle chargers. In July of 2011 it just stopped working while it was connected to my classic car battery in float/maintenance charge mode. Of course I bought this model for its 10 year warranty, but now I find out that in addition to having to pay to ship it to the company, I also have to pay $15.95 for them to do Warranty Evaluation, & shipping & handling fees. When you pay $47.00 for an item and it costs you around $30.00 to pay for shipping & return shipping, what is the point of the warranty? This is supposed to be "the best" of battery chargers and they basically want me to pay for anything done to the unit. I am not impressed!

This little charger works great and takes up very little space. Product dimensions are incorrectly listed as 11x4x11 inches and 2.4 lb it is aproximately 4x3x3 inches, and can't weigh more than a half pound. It also lists the "Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black Fused 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug" as a "frequently bought together" item, but mine came with one. You only need more if you are planning to permanently mount them to more than one vehicle.

There seems to be some confusion as to what batteries this will charge. It is optimized for gel cells, which require a lower charging voltage than AGM or flooded. However, it is compatible with the latter 2 types. If you do not have true gel cell batteries, this is not the charger you want, but if you have a mix of 12V gel cell and 12V lead acid batteries, it will handle all of them. 021-0123 and 021-0128 are optimized for AGM batteries, compatible with flooded (STD), and not reccomended for gel cells. 021-0069 is optimized for flooded (STD) batteries, compatible with AGM batteries, and and not reccomended for gel cells. The 012-0156 does everything.

The only thing this charger won't do that I need is to charge 6V batteries, but at the price, I can't expect them to include that capability, so I'll buy their 6v model also.

After some correspondence with Odyssey Batteries (Enersys), it ends up that the battery tenders don't have a high enough float voltage for their batteries. This is all very confusing of late (gel cell, lead acid, dry cell, etc). Since the float voltage is not high enough, the battery is only about 90% charged max. I measured my BT+ at 13.24V while in float mode. Odyssey says that the float needs to be 13.5V minimum. Here's a quote from their service department:

"There are many great chargers that work well with most batteries on the market that do not fully charge the ODYSSEY battery so if your charger floats at less than 13.5V then it will sulfate the battery and it will fail premature due to consistent undercharging and maintaining the battery in an undercharged condition. Most Battery Tenders float at less than 13.5V"

So, don't plan on using a BT+ on an Odyssey battery. Now I understand why the engine wasn't cranking over as I thought it should. Time to find a better charger. I wish BT would mention this in their product descriptions/website/etc to save the consumer the hassle. I did find a recommended battery chrager list on Odyssey's website. To be fair, my other BT's have worked great on my lead acid batteries.

Best little electronic item I have bought recently. Little is what it is. The Battery Tender unit is really tiny compared to the old horse of a charger I was used to using. Very effective and very smart little unit. I tried more for a chuckle to see if I could wake up a scooter battery that showed a .5 volt remaining out of 12.4v initial start. It made up over 10v of relative charge in what was a dead battery. I was amazed and very satisfied with the capability of the Tender. Since there is no line voltage output it is a very safe unit to have around. It will hold your battery at full charge for many years. Any vehicle with a battery in it needs a Battery Tender if it is stored for more than a month at a time.

Optima Batteries 8003-151 34R RedTop Starting Battery

i've heard nothing but good things about optima batteries, but mine must've been a fluke, 'cuz it died after just 6 months. a battery test showed that it was indeed bad. but it has a 3-year warrant. HOWEVER, amazon does not accept returns for batteries, 'cuz it's hazmat. instead, it just tells me to recycle it at my authorized local recycling dealer. i called optima, and they told me that amazon is NOT an authorized online dealer, but fortunately they were able to find a servicer locally that i can go to, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. the moral of the story? optima batteries are great, but do not buy them from amazon! in the unlikely even that your battery fails prematurely, amazon does not take care of you. spend a little bit more money and get them form a local store or someone who's authorized. that probably goes for any electronic things and amazon. don't get me wrong. i love amazon, but i probably would only buy books and such from them from now on

Fits nicely in my 2004 Mini Cooper S. Only thing to look out for is you need to manually spread the clamp for the positive terminal. Will not slide on without doing so. And of course bend the extra wire up and out of the way as the terminal is farther in on the battery than it is on the stock oem battery but that information I found all over the net. I have only had it in for a couple weeks so I cannot speak to its longevity. Does seem to turn the car over a little easier/quicker, but I could be imagining that.

Bought this in October of 2010, battery got weaker & weaker within 3 months, finally crapped out by June. Had it on a recommended trickle charger & disconnected when not in use. Vehicles charging system was confirmed as being fine. Contacted seller at Bluegrass & they were very helpful but Optima demands that I spend $50 to ship back to seller when there is a local dealer near my house. I complained to Optima, they suggested I do a 10A fast charge to resucitate , which I did, & the case split within 15 minutes even though the battery never got hot. Then they have the gall to say that a split case is not covered under warranty. The el cheepo Walmart battery I'm using as a replacement has already outperformed the Optima piece of junk. Optima's 3 year "warranty" is nothing but a marketing ploy. Save your money & buy from someone who stands behind their products.

Amazon is not an authorized dealer for Optima! Optima will not honor the warranty, and Amazon will not stand behind this product either. Amazon is being very dishonest by selling this battery knowing there is NO warranty. Mine died after two years (into the three year replacement warranty) and Amazon will not do a single thing to stand behind the purchase. What else on this site isn't Amazon telling you doesn't have a warranty? I have been a loyal Amazon/Prime customer for years, but not after getting off the phone with Amazon about this battery. It maybe a little more expensive to buy local, but I just learned my lesson that it is really cheaper in the long run.

So, there is no warranty, regardless of what it says.

By the way the R on this battery stands for REVERSE, so the the negative and positive terminals are reversed, and this actually makes it not fit properly in most vehicles, don't think you can just turn it around the cables in the vehicles don't necessarily reach of the other side of the battery spot.

Also, unlike most optima batteries, this won't come with any indication of when it was manufactured....

We set this up as a charger for our toy hauler. When the generator is on and the Genius is plugged into the trailer, it charges the batteries to a full capacity in 2-3 hours. Works best with 6-volt batteries.

This item is great. Good quality wires, etc... However, it is missing the "(2) 16 feet/4.88 meters 701 Series twisted-pair RCA's" that is listed in the posting. Also, right on the front of the box, it says "Clear Blue Shielded Low Noise RCA Cables" but on the back it doesnt say anything about them.

Having Amazon send a replacement to see if it was just missing the part or not.

I am an retired professional installer who works out of his garage on his own cars so I needed an "all in one kit"

This did just fine, wiring is good quality (not top of the line) and the 4 gauge wiring didn't seem to cheap out on copper like lesser manufacturers

The fuse holders are a snap to install and are of moderate quality but signal cables are a little flimsy (no noise)

I am knocking off 1 star because of signal cable and also that wiring could have been a foot or two longer to a accommodate larger vehicles

I would d definitely buy this again or recommend to others unless looking for top of the line (double the price also)
