Amico Black 2 Dual Socket Car Cigarette Charger w/ USB Port

Amico Black 2 Dual Socket Car Cigarette Charger w/ USB PortWhat a great price for a priceless little gadget. I only have one plug and too many devices that need plugging in! This certainly solves that problem!

Purchased and only used 1 month before it died. Plugged in a charger and fuse inside must have blown and it didn't work again. Great idea to have multiple sockets but not worth the money if it doesn't work longer than a month.

Using all 3 ports. Fits into an almost hidden socket in the dash (Subaru Outback). Using it for a Garmin GPS, iPhone holder/charger and an extra USB charger for my kids iPhone.

I ordered this last minute to use for a trip. when it arrived it looked good. but the actual product is a fake. or more like a toy. you can tell by the time you get it out of the packaging there is no weight to it at all. just cheap plain plastic and some shiny stuff on the inside. obviously it won't work since it doesn't eve have the right attachments. you can plug it in nothing will happen. its a waste of money. not that it cost a lot but still a complete waste.

Nextbase CLICK9 9" Tablet Style DVD Player with Stanchion Mount, ALL-REGION, 100v - 240v, Play ANYW

Nextbase CLICK9 9' Tablet Style DVD Player with Stanchion Mount, ALL-REGION, 100v - 240v, Play ANYWHERE, Car Kits Included
  • Includes Stanchion Mount, proven to be the safest for in-car entertainment
  • Also includes Headrest Mount: one-click action to mount player on headrest
  • 9" 16:9 digital TFT with high resolution 800 x 480
  • Portable DVD player with top-load multi-region DVD player
  • Works with CLICK battery (sold separately)

I won't spend time praising the child-pacifying benefits of a car DVD system. That said, this piece does the job, accepting multiple formats and with good ease to set up. However, to pick on the absolute best (and what took me to choose this over other multiple options out there), I will say the stanchion mount lets me sleep in peace knowing if anything ever happened (aka car accident), the DVD will not end up as a projectile hitting someone in the car. Just look at these guys' crash test videos and that will give you some reassurance. The construction at first looke a little cheap on the outside, as it is to a great extent made of plastic (not metal), on the outside. However, to that same point, it looks quite durable and sturdy and "child proof" and although I am not willing to test this and would not recommend you do, I would expect it could take a few more hits than other competitor brands without any major damage. The connectivity for powersource is easy as the cigarette lighter cable goes straight to the mount, and you can just remove the player when you get out of the car (you don't have to spend time winding and unwinding cables every time). The screen has control buttons on the top (apart from a comprehensive remote conrtol), so controlling the unit from the front seat takes some time, but the LED screen does show an on-screen display mimmicking the buttons on top of the unit, so with just looking at the screen you can know where to find the buttons and what you are pressing. All in all, I think this is a great product and I would buy again. My only issue was that my Toyota Sienna had headrest stands which apparently were thiker than anticipated by the vendor, who supplied 16mm bolts (I think the size was M4 0.7 x 16) for securing the stanchion mount. The bolts were hence not long enough and the vendor gladly accepted to send longer ones, although what I got was a regular flat screw and not allen.. I do recognize the 20mm allen bolt wasn't available at the Depot, but I did find some on Amazon at a reasonable price. In any case, the bottom line is "first hand" the screws might end up a few millimiters too short and you might have to request from the vendor (or purchase) a pair of longer bolts. Again: I would not disrecommend the product just because of that (hence the 5 stars).

I own the 10' dual. The system works great. It is what I have been looking for. It is worth the money. I love the mounting brackets. You can take the dvds in and out with ease. You don't ever have to mesh with the cables or trying to remount them. Easy to use, my 5 yr old can work the remote control. I bought a seprate set of brackets and yo-yo cable so now we just unclick the dvds and easliy click them into the other car. They are ready to go. They can watch their own show or the same. you can even unclick one and bring it in the house, they have a built in battery and a DC plug. I love them and I would tell a friend.

**THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE IN AUSTRALIA OR THE WORLD CONSIDERING TO BUY NEXTBASE PRODUCTS DO NOT BUY OR WASTE YOUR MONEY**

I purchased the Nextbase Click9 Duo Deluxe Dual 9' Screen Portable DVD players in June 2011 from Nextbase USA. I bought this product hoping the ancap safety meant this product has been built like no other system and that i would be able to enjoy years of quality use. Nextbase even had on there website that they believe every customer is a customer for life. Boy did i get sucked in. They are very helpful and respond quickly to any sales enquiry but thats where it ends. I am really surprised Ford US has Nextbase a supplier.

[Product Fault]

DVD frequently stops and keeps going back to the screen saver screen (Nextbase) then starts up again and then a couple of seconds later it does the same thing and especially if the road is a little bumpy and will also do if on a smooth road as well.

[When Product Fault first occurred]

Approximately April/May 2012 (10/11 months old within 12 month warranty period).

Originally thought it may have been a dirty or scratched DVD.

We don't use the DVD players every time we drive so it had been a few weeks between each time we used it and to try and trouble shoot the issue ourselves.

I first emailed Nextbase 17th July 2012 (Just after the 12 month warranty). At the time of my first point of contact with Nextbase via email, my Brother in Law (29 years old) had just passed away and as a result my email was a short overview of the issue and later realized I didn't detail the trouble shooting period. After several emails from me, Nextbase eventually did send out new Stanchion Mounts hoping this would resolve the issue. After 5 months of originally notifying Nextbase of the issue and waiting weeks/months for them to respond, on 29th November 2012 (5 months after advising the issue), I was finally requested by Nexbase to send the items back for full replacement (At no time has Nextbase indicated that it was not covered under warranty nor that I would incur any cost for the replacement or shipping). The cost to ship from Australia to Nextbase in the USA was $126 AU and Nextbase received the items on 13th December 2012.

Due to the continued lack of communication/nil follow up by Nextbase, I emailed a request for my complaint to elevated to a manager/director of Nextbase. On 27th December 2012 the Sales Manager from Nextbase emailed to advise that he has reviewed my complaint and that they have repaired the DVD player and have decided they will not replace the items or reimburse the cost of shipping or accept this under warranty and that it will cost me $60 US for the items to be shipped back to Australia.

On 28th December 2012 I have since emailed Nexbase disputing their decision to not cover under warranty and it is now the 1st February 2013 and i still have no response or resolution. 6 MONTHS WITHOUT ANY USE OF THE DVD PLAYER OR RESOLUTION IS APPALLING.

There is no after sales service and from my experience Nextbase is the most unreliable and dishonest company i have ever dealt with. Its a real shame as i really thought i was paying for a quality product backed by quality service

I hope this review saves you the pain i have and am currently experiencing.

Moroso 74103 Battery Terminal Disconnect Switch

Moroso 74103 Battery Terminal Disconnect SwitchThe item appears to be brass, but is really aluminum that is anodized a brass color. The crimp between the two isolated parts is poor so that they flop apart when the knob is loosened, requiring a few turns of the knob to be sure it does not contact. The end that is like a battery post is smaller diameter than a negative battery post, so the battery clamp has to be tightened to an excessively small size to hold properly.

I have used one of these for almost ten years. My antique car sits for weeks between trips and the battery was often low or dead. The battery froze in winter if not charged regularly. This switch prevented those problems entirely. Simple, easy to use and I had no problems with installing it on the negative post or with loose connections. Only trouble was after 8 years there was corrosion or an oxide layer under the screw which caused high resistance and slow cranking, but that was easily cleaned and it works like new again. I get years more life out of my batteries with it.

Buy Moroso 74103 Battery Terminal Disconnect Switch Now

I use this product on my motorhome. Since the motorhome does not move while the unit is disconnected, I have no problem with the contacts vibrating and touching each other (and no way of determining whether this might be a problem for other applications). And since I have no intention of ever removing this except to change batteries (which should be pretty rare with this in use), any problems with breaking when removed and reinstalled will be rare enough to accept the cost of a new unit. (I'm ordering a spare in case I ever need it.) This is a very simple device that seems to do the job very well.

I use these on my travel trailer. Each time it is unused for more than 10 days, the slow drain for the tank monitor, propane detector etc. is enough to kill the batteries. Excellent product

Want Moroso 74103 Battery Terminal Disconnect Switch Discount?

I was looking for a well-made battery disconnector made in the USA, and this is not it! It is very cheaply made and will not hold up after it is tightened down because if it has to be removed, the terminal arms will break apart. Not recommended.

Sony XVM-R75 Motorized Fold-Down Widescreen 7" LCD Monitor (Silver)

Sony XVM-R75 Motorized Fold-Down Widescreen 7' LCD MonitorGreat monitor with a cool factor of mototrized fold-down. The problem is the fold-down motor is not durable in regular use. I have owned this monitor for just barely 2 years, and the motor is defective. At every bump on the road, the monitor would automatically close, which drove the kids...and me crazy!! I originally had this professionally installed, and now, the technicians stated that the motor is defective/broken. I am disappointed and really was expecting a much more reliable product from Sony.

I used this for supplying power to relays based on the actuation of a main relay. This worked for me as the relays do not draw crazy amps. Also used another as a common ground for the same setup. No issues except for mounting. Will probably drill tiny holes on the edges.

Solid Brass Battery Terminal Heavy Duty

Solid Brass Battery Terminal Heavy Duty
  • Heavy duty brass construction
  • Suitable for 1 gauge - 6 gauge battery wire
  • Fits all standard top post batteries

I really do like these brass terminals. I have been using them for connectors to a couple of deep cycle AGM 55AH 12 volt batteries I set up along with some solar panels, a regulator, etc. etc. that I am working on as a "pet project" of mine.

They fit the terminal posts on both the deep cycle batteries, and one AC Delco old car battery I had that I "brought back to life" that I had never used but had been sitting around dead for five years just taking up space.

Of course you don't try to combine a car battery with a deep cycle battery. The results will be disastereous. I worked on the Delco separately. My point being that the battery posts on my deep cycle batteries are not the standard rounded terminal poles that are on an average car battery. They are flat and have a hole through the middle of each pole.

These brass terminals fit perfectly with both types of battery posts, and they are very easy to work with. Ya can connect them up from a few different points on each terminal, so I consider them very user friendly.

They have a fairly good heft to them. Solidly built, good metal, and they feel very "right." I highly recommend them!

And I liked them so much compared to some others I tried that I have kept ordering more of them. I must be using four or five sets now, and have a spare for my next battery. And this may be a trivial point to make but the "brass" finish on them has not faded the slightest bit. Even after a half year of constant use.

Bought this device instead of using a 1/8 inch jack plugged into my tape player. Not a good decision. I live in south florida. I have tried many stations and they all come out with static and interference. It makes it almost impossible to enjoy the music. I would not purchase in less you live in the middle of nowhere..

Read Best Reviews of iriver AFT-200 FM Transmitter/Charger for Clix and U10 Players Here

Great concept, but not useable. I live in Houston (granted there are LOTS of FM stations) and the interference from adjacent stations was too much for the little transmitter to handle.

Also, the gain (volume) was not dependable and was usually too low for proper listening levels. Once again, that could have been from interference from adjacent stations.

I talked to their technical support (super nice people) and tried it on two different vehicles. No luck on either vehicle.

They let me return the item for full credit. Very nice people to deal with.

Want iriver AFT-200 FM Transmitter/Charger for Clix and U10 Players Discount?

I have just about no problem with that thing, You put it between 2 stations where there is nothing and you get a clear reception. The only problem i had with it is that if i put the volume WAYYYYYYYY high on my mp3 player I get some static, you have to keep it at a certain level (But still very reasonable, Unless you like blowing up your ear drums).

I had problem with other such devices that gave me trouble just getting a signal but this one can send the signal to a distance of easily 2-3 cars away.

Finally, the only real problem i had with it is that the wire eventually broke on me somewhere (After a Year or so) and i ended up losing the "Stereo" leaving me with only Mono, but hey!, it's 5$, so i just bought an other one.

In my opinion, if anyone complains about the quality of this thing, he either lives in a place with 100% Radio stations in use, or is someone who should just spend 200$ on a radio with an Auxiliary plug... Which would cost 195$ more than this just to get a similar result.

I was looking forward to using this with my Clix Gen 2 player (4 GB), but did not read the specs carefully as the cable is not compatible with the standard mini USB plug on the Clix gen 2. The title is misleading, so hope you don't make the same mistake I made.

Lanzar Contaq 5000 Watt 0 Gauge Power Amp Kit
  • Transparent Blue Power Cable (16FT)
  • Transparent Silver Ground Cable (3FT)
  • Transparent Blue Remote Cable (15FT)
  • Transparent Blue Interconnect Audio Cable (15FT)
  • Transparent Speaker Cable (20FT)

I compared the size to a true 4 AWG OFC wire and the wire itself is 4 AWG, the insulation is about twice as thick as my other wire to make it look like "0 gauge". This is a great price for a 4 AWG kit I see no reason why they would market it as 0 gauge. If you go into this like I did expecting 4 AWG then you get a good deal, however with the padding to make it look like 0 gauge it is harder to fit through the firewall.

*Note true "0 gauge" is usually marketed as 1/0 AWG as this is the correct name from the American Wire Gauge standard.

*UpdateThis is 4 AWG wire with 1/0 AWG terminals so I would suggest getting different terminals if you are hooking it up to a 4 AWG amplifier as it will most likely not fit.

Peak PKC0CS 2/4/6 Amp Intelligent Battery Charger

Peak PKC0CS 2/4/6 Amp Intelligent Battery ChargerI'm very pleased with this product. It was much less expensive than comparable models and I like the fact that you can just attach it to the battery and it will automatically switch from charge mode to trickle mode.

I also had a great experience with tech support. I had some technical questions about a unique setup I have (I'm charging two 12V batteries in series) and they were extremely helpful.

The Peak PKC0CS Charger is not a smart charger or intelligent charger as the description indicates. This is just one of many standard automotive chargers that provides inadequate performance.

Belkin USB Charging Kit with Wall Charger and Car Charger for Apple iPod (White)

Belkin USB Charging Kit with Wall Charger and Car Charger for Apple iPod
  • Wall Charger With 90° Rotating Prongs
  • Car Charger
  • 4-ft Chargesync Cable For iPod
  • 1 Year Limited Warranty

QUICK SUMMARY: This Belkin iPod/iPhone charging kit does the job, so it's not a bad choice. But if you can get the some functionality in smaller, more discrete chargers, there's not much reason to choose this product.

WHAT I LIKE:

The charging cable seems heavy-duty, much thicker (better insulated?) than the charging cable that came with my iPhone. Good for those who aren't gentle with their charging cords.

The same charging cable has a larger plug that fits into my iPhone (the plug is maybe 1/4" longer than the plug on Apple's iPhone charging cable). This is a nice feature if you're using an Otterbox or similar case protector because it's much easier to grasp this cable's longer plug. Now I don't have a hard time pinching the plug to remove it from my Otterbox-protected iPhone.

This set is complete. Need a cable to charge from your computer? Got it. From a wall outlet? Got it. From a vehicle 12V outlet? Got it, and the vehicle adapter can be used to power any USB device (with the right USB cable), not just to charge an iPOD/iPhone.

WHAT COULD BE BETTER:

The wall adapter is rather big, but doesn't come with any kind of surge protection. If you're going to have a bulky wall adapter, you might as well add surge protection, too.

The wall adapter's prongs are foldable so they don't stick out (good for transporting in a bag), but the prong tips still stick out a bit from the adapter itself (so you can later unfold the prongs), and that creates a risk the prong tips could scratch something if you're storing it in a bag. A better design would have had a niche that keeps the prongs folded and completely recessed so the prong tips couldn't scratch that new iPod Touch you also threw into your computer bag.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:

The wall adapter has a BRIGHT, BLUE LED light that is so bright you can easily read a book from the light it casts. I dislike BRIGHT, BLUE LED lights that are ridiculously bright. I prefer dimly lit, small, little green or amber LED lights that tell you, "Yes, the device is working," without screaming, "YES, THE DEVICE IS WORKING!". Tip: put black electric tape over the LED light. Hint: If you've plugged in the wall adapter, it's working, and if it's unplugged from an electric outlet, it's not working.

CONCLUSION: This isn't a bad choice. It could be better, though.

Buy Belkin USB Charging Kit with Wall Charger and Car Charger for Apple iPod (White) Now

THE QUICK TAKE: The Belkin iPod Charging Kit is well built, but the chargers are bulky by modern standards. If you prefer these larger chargers, because you find them easier to handle, this set will be a good choice.

GOOD BUILD QUALITY: I've been happy with the Belkin chargers and cables I've owned, the build quality is solid. I've found that the cheap iPod cables come apart, often leaving parts stuck into the plug on the iPod or iPhone.

This cable just plugs in and pulls out no need to press tabs on the side. The plug seems compact, and fits fine in my iPhone despite the case on the phone.

And I've never thought that the cheap knockoff chargers made sense it's going to be plugged in almost all the time, in my house, where my family sleeps. And powering an expensive piece of electronics. I'm not going to give up quality just to save a few bucks.

1 AMP WILL CHARGE PHONES: The wall charger is rated at 1 amp, which is enough to charge an iPhone or an iPod, but won't effectively charge an iPad get a 2 amp charger for that. The car charger is rated at only 0.5 amp, which surprises me. That's enough, but just barely.

LARGER SIZE: Both the car and wall charger are much larger than most chargers these days. When plugged in, the wall charger is 2-7/8 high by 1-3/4 inches wide by by 7/8" deep (not counting the foldable prongs). The car charger is about 3-1/2 inches long by 1-5/8" across.

INTERNATIONAL VOLTAGE: The wall charger can accept 100 240 V, so it offers flexibility.

FOLDING PRONGS: The outlet prongs fold into the charger, which is a nice feature if you pack it in a briefcase or your luggage.

SMALLER ALTERNATIVES: Most people would likely prefer the smaller alternatives, such as Belkin MicroCharge + ChargeSync Kit for iPod & iPhone. It's also less expensive, and has a 1 amp car charger.

Read Best Reviews of Belkin USB Charging Kit with Wall Charger and Car Charger for Apple iPod (White) Here

The cord that comes with this set is four feet long. That's longer than you likely want for use in your car and shorter than I want for use at home where my wall electrical outlets are pretty low (near the baseboards) and I want the cord to reach to the top of a piece of furniture where I will place the phone to charge.

It's nice that the prongs can be folded down into the wall charger so it take up less space (if you have vertical outlets,) but the prongs do NOT swivel. Swivel prongs that also fold down are far more useful. Swivel prongs make it much easier to plug in chargers without blocking an outlet. I have this Belkin wall plug that both swivels and has fold down prongs Belkin AC Charger with Swivel Plug & Charge Sync Cable for iPod and iPhone One positive about the wall plug is that it has a small blue light that lights up when it is charging. This is actually quite useful so that you don't inadvertantly plug it into an outlet that only works when a wall switch is turned on, then wake up in the morning to find your phone did not charge.

The car charging plug is much larger than necessary I purchased the Griffin micro car charger here on Amazon Griffin Technology PowerJolt Micro (Flat) 2A x 1 USB Power Charger for iPod/iPhone/iPad (Black ) (so small I can close the compartment in the car with the plug still in the outlet) I would never want such a big charging plug as this Belkin unit has. Well, on second thought the big one MIGHT be good to put in a travel kit. If you do so, make sure to take a bright color of electrical tape and put a loop of it around the car charger to make it more noticeable. That way you are less likely to leave it in a rental car or relatives car when packing to return from a trip.

I can't really recommend this set unless the blue light on the wall plug is important to you.

Want Belkin USB Charging Kit with Wall Charger and Car Charger for Apple iPod (White) Discount?

I already had an excellent wall charger for my iPod, but I just had to have this one because of the car-charger. I enjoy reading and texting while on long drives with my daughter and have been disappointed many times because my battery died at the most inopportune times. I also enjoy having two chargers, so I can keep this one in my purse for those unexpected road trips.

The four-foot cable is also convenient when connecting to my laptop computer.

Highly recommended.

This is a straightforward, all-in-one solution to charge your iPod. The kit includes a standard wall wart, an auto adaptor plug and an Apple pin-type to USB cable that fits into both the car and wall ports. I tried it with our iPod Classic, iPod Nano and iPhones (4 and 4s) and it worked for all, BUT charging an iPhone using the car port brings up a compatibility message and though it DID charge a bit, it didn't do very much, and was quite slow. In addition, neither the car or wall adaptor will work with an iPad2.

You can also plug the cable directly into a computer for charging and it works just like the original Apple cable. It's also worth noting that this thick plug, larger than Apple's own, may not work with your iPod or iPhone if it's in a case. Your mileage there may vary. (My husband's phone case accepted the cord, mine didn't. Both are cases that work fine with the Apple cable.) You can plug an Apple cable into these adaptors, but that would eliminate use of one of the three pieces you're paying for.

Though it is not advertised as such, it will also charge many other USB devices, as long as you have the cable, as the wall and car plugs simply have a USB slot. We tried charging our USB plug GPS and it did charge using the car adaptor. Though, be aware, as with the iPad 2, anything that requires more power, may not work with these low-watt chargers.

Another big downside is the size: the wall wart is large, even with the prongs folded inward. Apple's teeny, tiny plug only, which does the same thing, is much easier to carry with you for travel, which is what the Belkin system seems designed for. The car plug also seems larger than our other Griffin and Belkin car charging products. If you were trying to carry these with you in a travel bag, I see them quickly ending up in a big, jumbled ball of corded mess. For me, the size alone of the components, makes it not-so-useful.

Consider what Apple charges for replacement cables alone, this isn't a terrible buy, though it's still a little pricier than similar, no name solutions. If you need all three parts of this system (cable, car and wall), and only have an iPod, not an iPhone, this is a fairly good deal. But if, like me, you've got multiple Apple i-devices, I'm guessing you'll prefer something that works for ALL your products, and not this more limited system.

Mr. Gasket 6279 Truck Mounted Battery Installation Kit

Mr. Gasket 6279 Truck Mounted Battery Installation KitFirst off, it works for containing the battery in a place other than where it was originally intended to live. The problem with the box is tha tit is too flexible, so when I installed it in a slightly un-level mounting spot, the box warped and the lid has difficulty fitting completely on top. They did think of this and a tie down strap for the lid is included, but it would have been nicer if the box itself had some rigidity across the bottom. Additionally 20' of cable was about 5' too short for relocating the battery to the back of a 1989 Toyota Celica, which is a very small car. I would suggest purchasing additional cable when you buy this kit if you have a car that is larger and have not removed the interior.

My husband got this for is for his Acura Legend to make room in the engine bay for a turbo system. There was plenty of wire and it fits nicely in the back of the car.

Global Digital Canon CB-2L, Canon CB-2LS Brand New Compatible Travel and Car Ba...

Global Digital Canon CB-2L, Canon CB-2LS Brand New Compatible Travel and Car Ba...This one is the smallest and thinnest of the Elph cameras that I have ever owned. I'm still getting used to it and will update later but the battery and memory card slot cover is a bit flimsier than the previous Elphs that I owned. I hope that this doesn't become an issue because it certainly is a pretty minor detail. I'll probably get used to it.

Audiovox GMRS6000 6-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair)

Audiovox GMRS6000 6-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio
  • Range of up to 6 miles
  • 2 watts of output power to maximize range
  • Comes with 2 VOX boom mics for hands-free function
  • 22 channels to communicate on
  • Comes with earbuds, rechargeable NiMH batteries, desktop charger, and cigarette lighter adapter to charge from home or in the car

I bought 2 2-mile radios a couple of years ago (cobra) but I decided to upgrade to these 6 mile radios.

I got them at bestbuy and was excited when I got home and I tested the range. And found out that 1/2 mile away I got cut off and I was only going through trees half of the way! And then I started looking at the directions to see how it works. And the menu for changing vox, privacy code, ring tone, etc. was the same menu that you changed the channel. So you have to go through all the menus so you can change the channel!

After that I took them back and got some 6 mile Uniden's (8 mile with boost button). They are the best! It had a separate menu for the channel and went 3 times as far without pressing the boost button (I was testing it at the same place)! Pressing the boost button, I got another mile going through a couple more trees.

Conclusion: Don't get the Audiovox for these reasons, instead get Uniden.

Look at my review on the Uniden GMR885-2CK 8-Mile GMRS/FRS 2-Way Radios With Charging Cradle.

Equipment supplied in this package: 2 radios, 8 rechargeable batteries, dual desk-top charger, 2 hands-free thingies, vehicle cigarette lighter adapter, 2 swivel belt clips and 2 leather carrying cases. At the price it is being sold it is an astounding value.

Features: 6-mile range (more on that later), backlit display, 22 channels (1-7 are GMRS/FRS, 8-14 are FRS only, 15-22 are GMRS only), sub-channel selection (filters out unwanted transmissions from the same main channel unit), roger beep tone, VOX (voice activated transmission) and transmission power selection (you can choose between low for longer battery life or high for longer transmission range). These are the most important features but there are some more.

Range: the company claims 6 miles. In reality it covers about two to three. But really, what company nowadays doesn't claim longer and longer ranges. Under absolutely perfect conditions you might get what is claimed but under normal conditions you just won't. So I'll take those 2-3 miles and live with them.

Quality: first and foremost, these radios are made in China, which has probably the worst manufacturing quality in the world but you'll think companies will care about their business enough to make sure their quality never goes down regardless of where they decide to have their equipment built. I have gone through two sets of radios and both have given me problems. I originally bought the Audiovox GMRS122-2CH 2-Way Radio w/ Dual Desktop Charger (which incidently were better looking than these ones) and after about 2 months of very light use one of the radios failed (it remained stuck in "busy" mode). I decided I was just unlucky enough to get a lemon so I decided to give it another go and bought the units I am reviewing here. Again a problem: this time two of the batteries leaked (guess where they are made) almost ruining the radio itself. I thought batteries were only supposed to leak if you left them inside a unit for a long time without using the unit but in my case I had used it 2 days before. So there is definitely something not right about quality control at Audiovox in my humble opinion. Two different models bought from different places (only one of the sets was bought from Amazon) and both had problems.

Finally (and this goes for EVERY company out there): would it kill you to put some sort of "battery recharged" indicator so that we won't overcharge batteries and thus shorten their life span? Or even better yet, make the system overcharge-proof. In the case of these units the manual states "charging time is typically 16-20 hours" although how I am supposed to know when they are indeed fully charged is beyond me. I just don't have the time (or the will) to be worrying about stuff like that. Enough ranting.

Hopefully Audiovox will get back on track with their quality as it has been a very reliable brand throughout the years. I am giving it three stars based on both sets I had to buy, if it had been only this one then my rating would be a 4-star one.
