I purchased this to replace the one that came with my DVD player. The one that came with the player broke relatively quick and initially I thought it was the player itself. After some research, I was told to replace the adapter and this one works great.

I went to radio shack and asked for this cord but the best they could come up with was giving me a single one then splitting it myself. My son ruined the one that came standard with our dvd player for the car by tripping on it and pulling the cord out so this is all we needed. It was a quick, easy, and cheap find. Thanks so much!

The cord is very sturdy, and it is nice and long to reach both dvd players in the back seat of the car.

This charger is much better than the OEM charger that comes with the Phillips system. Highly recommended for use after the flimsy OEM charger breaks.

CTEK 56-263 Comfort Connect Cig Plug

CTEK 56-263 Comfort Connect Cig PlugLike all components of the CTEK system the cig socket charger is quality built with o-ring seals in the electrical portion to keep it dry and a firm grip on the socket. That being said, there are some things to consider.

Keep in mind not all cigarette lighter sockets on cars are live 24/7 most imports tend to kill all outlets when the key is removed while american cars tend to leave the sockets live all the time. This makes it difficult to use this with EVERY car without leaving the key in the ignition which can in many cases draw more power from the battery than the charger puts in, thus depleating the battery charge. It's not a win-win scenario.

One alternative is to install a second always on cigarette lighter jack for this plug. If you are going that route I would suggest an alternative which works well with asian and german imports, again from ctek: CTEK 56-380 Comfort Indicator Panel this is an alternative if your jack is not live without the key turned. It occupies a blank spot on the dash and performs 2 functions red/yellow/green blinking leds 24/7 to indicate the battery's state of charge and a ctek input jack to acccept any of their chargers where normally there would be a set of clips, rings, or the -263 cig socket. Installed properly it looks like a factory install, provides an indication plainly visable, and a rubber covered location for inserting the ctek charger end. If you can't use this 56-263 easy connect cig socket plug, then the 56-380 is the optimal solution which fits perfectly into a din switch array on imports.

Both solutions get you the same result you have an inside car convenient way to charge your battery from 117 VAC without opening the hood [or the trunk/rear seat/ all the oddball places some cars (ahem bimmer) put their batteries]

Both methods are convenient, professional, well made, and part of a system that works well together to keep your car ready to start no matter what battery you use to start it. The -380 version adds the battery state indicator wihch is a nice bonus at the end of the day to be able to glance at the dash with the key removed and determine the immediate charge status while the -263 (this item) can be used with most any vehicle even riding mowers!

I ordered the CTEK US 3300 for my Porsche 911. It's the same charger that Porsche gets $115 for because it says Porsche on it. I didn't know the CTEK US 3300 didn't come with a cigarette lighter adapter so I had to order this accessory but still saved approx. 50% over the Porsche brand charger. Both the CTEK 3300 charger and this CTEK Comfort Connect worked great and charged my vehicle's battery.

Buy CTEK 56-263 Comfort Connect Cig Plug Now

This unit is one of the best made add-on connectors you will run into. It fits perfectely and the wire is strong enough to be rolled up in my window with out breaking. Also this along woth the CTEK charger is 1/2 the price of the Porsche charger. It is a trouble free piece of equipment that keeps your car alive and well during the cold winter.

With this adapter and the CTEK 3300 battery charger maintaining my Porsche's battery during the winter is as easy as plugging it in. Just plug the CTEK 56-263 comfort connect cig socket adapter into the cars cigarette lighter or accessory power receptacle, then plug the charger into the wall outlet. No need to connect directly to the battery. The wires are thin enough that I can close my door totally and not have to worry about damaging them or leaving a window or door slightly open. A must have for battery maintenance if you store your car for an extended period of time.

High quality construction. Works as advertised. I highly recommend this product to anyone contemplating the purchase of the CTEK Battery Charger/Maintainer. It avoids having to access the car's battery.

Scosche IP2IN1 iPod/Universal USB Charger for Home and Car

Scosche IP2IN1 iPod/Universal USB Charger for Home and Car
  • Charge any USB device including phones, MP3 players, Blackberries, headphones and more
  • For use with existing iPod USB cable
  • Includes USB 12V charger and 100V wall charger
  • Connects to most USB powered devices.
  • Folding prongs for storage and travel.
  • 1 amp makes recharging as fast as possible

I bought this USB charger 3 months ago to use with my iPod touch and it has worked flawlessly. The wall charger is very portable as the plug folds into the body of the charger. Both seem to charge the iPod equally well and I have not noticed the charging to be any different from connecting the iPod to the computer. One minor (if obvious) downside is that you need to bring the USB cable along in the car or to other locations where you will not connect to the computer.

I bought this item to avoid having to take so many different chargers with me when traveling. Seems to work well with any device that I have tried thus far (Garmin Forerunner, Blackberry, iPod Shuffle).

This is the second time I have been asked to review this transaction for some strange reason.

This vendor supposedly offered a "Scosche" brand set of USB chargers at a steeply discounted price. The chargers pictured in the offer clearly bore the Scosche brand name, and they used the Scosche "retail price" from which to show the steep markdown in price.

When I received these items there were in no kind of packaging -just loose inside of a jiffy bag mailer, so it was difficult to tell if they were even new. Though the items looked similar to the ones pictured in the offer, they were NOT Scosche brand products. They were instead some cheap, no-name, made in China, knockoff, of the type you'll find on Ebay selling for a buck apiece.

When I wrote back, the vendor admitted that the items were not Scosche but rather "OEM", but assured me they have sold "thousands without any problem". They further went on to "guarantee" that I would have "no problem" with the units. Their guarantee however, would be of little consequence should one of these cheap chargers fry my daughters expensive Ipod.

I decided to cut my losses as the whole transaction was just a few bucks. The vendor did refund my money, (I think), and the only reason I am responding to this request for a review again, is to warn other buyers.

Look, bottom line is: Amazon is a great resource that I have used in the past, and will surely use again. And this is the first time I have experienced any kind of problem purchasing through Amazon. But vendors who engage in classic "bait and switch" tactics are not worthy of being represented by Amazon.

I bought this for my wife's car, which I usually use on the weekends. She has an iPhone, I have a BlackBerry, so I wanted to minimize charger clutter in the car. While it works fine with her iPhone 3Gs, it does NOT work with my BlackBerry 9800. A message pops up on the BlackBerry saying that the connected charger is insufficient to power the device.

So much for the "universal" part, although I have long ago learned not to trust the title descriptions on Amazon.

Oddly enough, the AC outlet charger does work with my BB. But if you are buying this primarily for use in the car, be forewarned: the iPhone, yes; BlackBerry, no.

Odyssey PC545MJ Powersports Battery

Odyssey PC545MJ Powersports BatteryI used this in my Harley Heritage and it is a great product. plenty of power to spare. Did not fir exactly as advertised so beware you may need an adapter. I advise a phone call to the company before purchasing.

I purchased this product after reading several reviews on various motorcycle forums which praised the longevity of the battery. Easy to install and everything's sealed. Easy starts and no problems. I hope to get many years of service out of this battery. Seems to be well made and worth the money, Ken.

These are amazing batteries, very powerful, (Have started a '95 Ford 460 engine multiple times with a pc545mj) I currently have these installed in 4 motorcycles and a four wheel drive dune buggy. The oldest of these batteries is over five years old, has been abused in a multitude of ways, (months dead, boost charged back to life on 3 occasions) yet still delivers over 275 amps on my battery tester for 20 seconds. These batteries are always recommended by myself to customers who are fed up with the $89.00 18-24 month life bike batteries. If you are looking for a superior battery technology the LiFePo are the ticket if you can swallow the preimiun, just don't ever flat-line one....

Black & Decker VEC010BD Start It 300 Amp Jump Starter

Black & Decker VEC010BD Start It 300 Amp Jump StarterThis is a nice unit for starting cars, as noted below. But it may be too small for some other 12-volt applications. The lighter-socket outlet will shut off if you exceed 5 amps of continuous draw. At 12 volts, that would be 60 watts, and as luck would have it, my laptop PC requires 90 watts (7.5 amps) when plugged directly into a 12 volt source.

Also, in terms of total amp/hours, it would not be able to power something like a CPAP machine for a full night's use, which some people might like to do on a camping trip or the like. The description touts the unit's non-automotive power uses, but they are really somewhat modest. Charging a cell phone is not much of a challenge!

It works fine for starting cars, though. This appears to be identical to the Vector VEC010S, which is the unit I have. ("BD" at the end of this product ID is obviously just for Black and Decker's labeling on the front).

My car battery went dead in mid-winter, and I thought it was shot. A neighbor had this same unit, and in the spring I borrowed it twice to start the car, which went fine, even though his unit wasn't even fully charged when I borrowed it.

Finally I bought my own, charged it overnight as per the instructions, three hours past the blinking green. When I went to jump the car, for some reason it would not start right up as it had the other times. On the first attempt, the car turned over and over, but wouldn't kick in, and the effort drew down the jump starter's cranking power to zilch. Everything stopped.

The car had not cranked long enough to become flooded, so that was not the problem. I suspected that I might not have set the clamps correctly to get a "clean" grip, and that this reduced the power available for cranking.

The instructions tell you to wait a little after long cranking, so I did. I also reset the clamps (which are perfectly strong and fine, by the way!)After a few minutes, the unit had regained some of its cranking power, and it got the car going easily.

Back inside, I plugged the starter back in to charge up, and it took several hours to get back to full (blinking green light). Apparently, getting the car going had used quite a bit of juice.

The next time I needed to jump the car, it was instantaneous, and I performed multiple jumps without needing a new charge. So, unless there is something unusual about the first usage, I suspect that my placement of the clamps was to blame. The well-written instructions are clear about the need for a good connection, after all.

If you do want it mostly for jump starts, and do not expect to need it as an "emergency power" source for long hours, or to run any kind of serious appliance, it is a fine choice.

Unit appears to be solidly constructed. Maybe I lucked out and got an upgraded version, but there have been a couple of reviewers that said the the plastic clamps snapped. The unit I have (manufactured 11/06) has ALL METAL clamps, very much nicer than many regular standard jumper cables.

This unit will hold a charge but needs to be maintained (recharged) at least every 60 days or so.

NEVER charge via the cigarette lighter adapter in your vehicle longer than 3-4 hours. It may be left on AC charge indefinately. It is better to keep it fully charged, discharging this unit will result in shorted cells.

All in all, a very small price to pay for peace of mind, at home and on the road. With a power inverter (less than $20.00) you can have silent power source for lights, cell phones, small tv's, laptops, flourescent lights, etc.

Several people here have mentioned that the clips are made of cheap plastic. I'm happy to report that mine received march 2 2007 has all-metal clips that seem to be quite sturdy! They have definately updated the design.

I have a Honda, which I love, but since I do not drive her on a daily basis now, the battery is tempermental. I bought this product and have had to use it several times. I've found it easy to use and, even when the car battery has been completely dead, this jumpstarter has had more than enough power to get her started. I comparison shopped and the price of this Black & Decker was the best bargain, too. Recommend it highly.

T. Dorau -when properly stored, what you complain about will never happen. A battery should -neverbe stored in sub-zero or near-freezing temperatures. Don't leave it in the garage!

This unit offers "quick" recharging (4 to 5 hours) from a 12V source or gradual recharging (12 to 24 hours) from an AC source.

The AC source may be left connected indefinitely (true "float" charging) which is a plus for a standby power source. The inclusion of the LED light source is very thoughtful on the part of the designer(s).

In addition to jump starting a car, this is a good choice for small household items (TV, Radio, Weather Alert Radio) or emergency communications equipment (CB, Ham Radio).

This product also appears in some stores under the "Husky" and "Vector" brand-names.

**(1 yr. updated review) So far pretty pleased but there are some issues. One of the headphones died pretty much right away($20-$30 to replace),the RCA audio output does have an annoying whine, but the FM modulator works perfect still. The headphones are the worst thing on these cause when ever the kids want to use them, plan on having a pair of aaa batteries...**

to start Amazon was excellent great packaging and fast shipping!

PROS: These headrests are a perfect match to my 04 Buick Rendezvous tan leather interior I mean PERFECT. Headphones are easy to use (4yr old handles just fine), touchscreen menu, USB, SD Card, tilt headrests, tilt screen, FM transmitter transmits perfect, great picture. Connected the wii and it works perfect. Posts stretch to 8.5". SD/USB will read MPG & AVI files so far, which is better than others, but it doesn't read the larger HC cards.... so keep it under 1gig

CONS: Headphones need to have an "auto-off" feature.... if the kids accidently leave them on overnight, you'll need new batteries. Only 1 hardwired input, the second takes a "jack" next to the screen, which seems like an accident waiting to happen. You loose the headrest "clicks" for height placement and they seem a little loose, but I think I can fix that pretty easily. Touchscreen does not control the DVD, just monitor options.

Buick CON: They are very easy to hook up (30mins for both), my nightmare was getting the OEM headrests off..... the Rendezvous for some reason does not have that little push lever to remove the headrests so you will either have to pay $25 each at the dealer to remove or make your own tools :( took hours to get them off with home-made tools.

heres some images that I'll try to keep up for awhile.

Sunforce 50013 1-Watt Motorcycle and Powersports Solar Battery Charger

Sunforce 50013 1-Watt Motorcycle and Powersports Solar Battery ChargerThis unit is a must for any vehicle that sits for an extended period of time. As long as the battery has a full charge this will maintain the battery and it will keep the charge topped off. Over the winter my bike sits for long periods and with solar maintainer the battery fires the bike up every time. A weather proof unit is what I needed since it is mounted outside of my garage. It also has a 15' extension for it. Beware that the positive and negative terminals are reversed on this unit as compared to most other battery chargers and maintainers so you will have to pay attention to that if you are swapping cables or you are integrating it will another charging device.

I purchased this array to charge an accessory battery on my golf cart. It seems to be well made and is water proof, which is why I bought it. It comes with ample cords and is small in size.

I would have given it 4 or 5 stars, but, it has no LED or any way to know if and when it is working. Some of these arrays ( some cheaper) have at least an LED to let you know the thing is functioning. A serious draw back IMHO!

Last year once the spring rolled around and it was time to start mowing grass again, I found out the battery to my riding lawnmower was dead. I also recently bought a Harley and feared that the same thing would happen. I store both of these items in my shed where there is no electricity run to it. The cheapest option I found was to use two of these solar power battery maintainers to keep the charge in my batteries fresh. So far I have been using them for several weeks and have had no discharging issues with my batteries or starting either pieces of equipment. I used a multimeter to check the voltage on the solar panels to ensured both worked prior to placing them on my shed. The true test will come this winter to see if the batteries stay charged. This kit comes with clamps as well as cables to permanently install a quick connect. I chose to use the permanent connects directly connected to the batteries. The only reason I give this four stars is that the positive connect on the quick connect is not covered. I'm not an electrical professional but I do believe that the bodies of lawnmowers and motorcycles are grounded to the negative terminal. Therefore if you disconnect the quick disconnect and it touches the body of the vehicle it will be like connecting the positive and negative terminals. I've been careful enough not to let that happen, I'm assuming it would blow the fuse. The solution for this is before you disconnect the solar charger quick connect, remove the inline fuse from the cable. If someone knows electricity better please correct me.

Powerline By Original Power 0900-73 200/400-Watt Slim Line Inverter with USB Charging Port

Powerline By Original Power 0900-73 200/400-Watt Slim Line Inverter with USB Charging PortThis is a decent power inverter, at best. I do not recommend this for continuous use for longer than 2 or 3 hours.

I purchased my first one at Wal-Mart, which subsequently died on me after about 10 hours of continuous use. It kept blowing a fuse, with OR without having anything drawing current, other than the unit itself. I disassembled it and found the internal fuse to be in working condition. I came to the conclusion that the voltage regulators were at fault, and drew over 30 amps of current, since I tried a 30amp fuse and it popped immediately.

I exchanged it for a second one at Wal-Mart, and used it on another road trip yesterday; this one no longer functions. I didn't bother disassembling this one because I've decided that this brand and/or country of assembly/manufacturing (made in china, of course) is not worth my while.

The cooling fan on both units was finicky. They would buzz after long use and often required multiple power cycles (unplugging and plugging back in) to get it to spin up again.

My usage was with a Dell Inspiron 6000 1.6ghz Pentium-M (SpeedStep enabled, running at 800mhz) with a 4200rpm drive, and cpu usage was between 0-10% at most. There was little the power inverter was required to do; the Dell AC power cord I use is rated at 65watt max current, and my computer, as you see noted above, was operating at 0-10 percent @ 800mhz. This is unacceptable performance from the PowerLine inverter.

My first inverter failure was at 10 hours, and my second at 7 hours. The second one, again, either has cheaply made voltage regulators or has blown a fuse internally; I won't waste my time taking this one apart to see if it's the internal fuse or regulators that have gone bad.

Each inverter failed in different cars, so it's not likely that a dirty or unstable DC power supply is to blame. I blame the over-sensitivity of the cheap components used in manufacturing. I've had cheaply-made power supplies in computers last longer than this, and I learned my lesson with those quickly--now I've learned my lesson with DC-to-AC power inverters, especially those of the PowerLine brand.

If your use is infrequent, and for less than 2 hours at a time, this might do the job you need. The internal capacitors are not a durable brand, either--there are no identifying markings on them at all. My draw of less than 65 AC watts causes the fan to operate improperly and then render the device useless--this is my second and last purchase of a PowerLine inverter product.

My experience is similar to Jonathans. This unit is a piece of junk. I had a similarly rated inverter for several years (I have forgotten the make and model) and it worked perfectly until it was stolen from my car. The FIRST TIME I used this one, with a Dell laptop power supply (rated 90 watts continuous) connected, after about 4 hours use, it began screaming at me with its built in audible alarm. It screams whenever it is turned on, with or without anything plugged in, load or no load. Maybe I will tear it apart for the alarm. THAT seems to work just fine!

I keep reading all these reviews and they all have the same problems I have had with the PowerLine Inverter: screaming alarm, flashing light, and basically just not working anymore after small usage.

So heed the warnings...

Don't buy this product if you want something durable!

I have had this unit (the 0900-73 200W) for about 3 months. I bought it after my Radio Shack inverter died after about 5 years of use powering an XBox and TV in our van for many, many 5+hour trips (and it was only rated at 140W). So, I picked this one up (since it was cheap...) and it worked on our first trip just fine, and now just blows the fuse in any vehicle when I plug anything into it. The power output is intermittent. I have a light on my Dell laptop powercord that lights up when it has power. Thatlight does not come on reliably when using this inverter, indicating the the Powerline is not outputting power. When the light does eventually come on, the fuse in my car blows immediately. I am reluctant to plug it back in, and am going to go with a different brand (likely back to radio shack). Also, the internal beeper keeps going off with or without anything plugged into it, and regardless of whether it is actually outputting any power.

The kit came with two screw drivers: a Philips head and a star head. The screws on my 750 were star-head, so there must be some out there with Philips head ones.

The DVD that came with the kit is adequate and basic but could have covered a few additional issues, hence the four star rating. The first was the difficulty of getting the back off the GPS unit. The kit comes with a plastic pry tool that you use to remove the back after removing the screws; however, the back on mine was a lot more difficult to remove than the one in the video. After about four or five tries, it finally yielded and came off. Removing the actual battery was also a lot more difficult than shown in the DVD because of the double-sided tape holding it in. The DVD demo showed the old battery merely falling out. Some reviewers remarked that there was no mention of double-sided tape being required for the new battery [the piece on the old battery would not come off it] because it would rattle around inside the GPS without it. Since the tape I had would have been very difficult to remove if it prevented the back from being replaced, I decided to try it without the tape first. As it turns out, I didn't need the tape at all; the new battery fit snugly in. Therefore, I recommend trying it without the tape first.

The new battery came about two-thirds already charged, and I re-charged it for about two hours to the four-bar level. I then ran a two-hour simulated trip, and it was back to about two-thirds. At the time of this writing, it has been on for about two hours and forty-five minutes and is down to about half charged.

[To be continued.]

Nov. 7, 2011

I fully charged the battery [overnight] and ran a 4-1/2 hour simulated trip. At the end, there was still some charge left so I left it on. It lasted an additional 20 minutes for a total of 4 hours 50 min.

Battery is still working great. No complaints.

I was leaving on vacation when my Nuvi 750 died in the car. I was forced to replace it with a newer model because we were driving about 6000 miles. Since I really missed some of the now discontinued 750's features I ordered this replacement battery kit as soon as I got home. The kit arrived quickly. The tools were simple and the video was easy to understand. I think they could have mentioned how the original battery is stuck in really tightly using double-sided tape. The actual replacement was very easy after the battery was "unstuck". Saddly enough the new battery didn't seem to hold a charge. I was miffed and contacted Innovate88 (via email through Amazon) expecting a hassle but they couldn't have been nicer. They immediately apologized and sent another battery which has been working just fine. There is a chance that I did something wrong with the first replacement, but they didn't even ask, they just sent another one right away. Thanks Bill at Innovate88.

I really liked the fact that everything you need to change the battery is included along with the cd to visually see how to do it. It would be helpful if they would also include some type of double stick tape to hold the battery in place. Being a crafter, this was something I already had on hand. This would be a great benefit for others who purchase this.

AAA 4344AAA 3-LED Rechargeable Flashlight

AAA 4344AAA 3-LED Rechargeable FlashlightI got them at a rock bottom price and included them as stocking stuffers. The kids love them and they actually illuminate a good amount of light for a good amount of time.

Requires an absolutely non-tiring arm to get any light. After you crank a while & finally get the light, it doesn't seem like you can keep the light unless you continue to constantly crank it. I'd rather have batteries while I can.

Peak PKC0AZ 450 Amp Jump Starter

Peak PKC0AZ 450 Amp Jump Starter(originally written for a solar power forum, but applies here too)

OK, I wussed out, and bought a commercial product! We have a small sleeping hut built on the ranch now, but no power in it yet. It's going to take a while to mount a panel, batteries, charge controller, wire up lights and such, and we arrive at nighttime, and no where to plug the CPAP in ! So I spent a couple days pricing out different ways to accomplish this, and settled on a portable jump start pack. Found a model with good reviews (Peak PKC0AZ 450), and no air compressor (that often fails after 50 total minutes of use). Located one in stock at local autoparts store, and bought it, taking a chance it's been parked in a warehouse for a year, and then in the back room for 2 more years, resulting in a flat, sulfated battery. (fully half of the complaints at Amazon)

Other choice was to get a AGM battery, rig up a case, cigar jack outlet, charger and hope it still fits into the car.

Upon opening it up, and throwing a voltmeter on it, I was pleased to find it reading 12.85V on a warm afternoon. It's built-in indicator showed it was 4/5 charged also good. I plugged it's wall wart (transformer, not switcher, 12V, .5A) in, and let it top it off for a couple hours, it came to quiescence at 13.37v, and I unplugged it. After an hour, it read 13.13V. Awesome! And the Respironics power cord (for the CPAP) appears to fit snugly into the Lighter jack.

Using my kill-a-watt before I was shopping, I'd discovered that the CPAP consumed about 75 watt hours in a 6 hour run, and that for 2 nights, I'd consume about 12.5 ah of battery. The "450A packs" claim to have an 18AH AGM battery in them, but I figured, I may as well have a portable unit, than a hulk that will last me a month. And if I only ran it one night (6.25 AH consumed) and then recharged, it'd live a long lifetime. Well, the power brick for the CPAP is a pig. After running all night (6 hours) , the voltage in the AM, read 12.66v Whoo hooo! Internal battery indicator LEDs still showed 4/5 charge, way less drain than the power brick used (all my testing is done with humidifier OFF) so even though the brick read about 3 watts idle, it was using more with a light load.

So, this will recharge at my shop, and I think I'll get a plug in lamp timer, and set that for a 1 hour charge daily, to keep it topped off between visits. And since the shop is on solar power, now my CPAP is too!

Added benefit, the power pack has a LED lamp built in, and a USB power port, so I don't even need a cigar plug Y cord to charge my phone and PDA.

So, I've owned this less than 2 days, but I think it will do the job I need it to, and it's not DOA out of the box. It can also charge via a running car too, but I've not tried that yet, I think I can also feed it from a 3 stage charge controller set for AGM. And it can jump start the tractor too, if I need it.

And it was a lot less than the $$ soft side 14ah CPAP battery pack. I hope the AMA does not come after me!

I purchased this with the purpose in mind of using it as a portable power source for things like when I go camping it can provide power for lights, an air mattress inflator, etc. The battery rating of "18 amp/hour" tells you it should be able to run something drawing ~18 amps for 1 hour, 9 amps for 2 hours, etc. I've even tried using it to power a small inflatable boats trolling motor for over an hour and it didn't drain it, but I mainly kept the motor on the low setting (using ~8 amps, high would use ~15 amps but I used that only ~10 minute of the time I was out).

The only issues I've had with this unit (why I dropped 1 star) is for charging it, I've had to send power thru the lighter outlet or main jumper cables. The red LED indicating "charging" comes on with it plugged in to their "charge port", but after leaving it plugged in for an hour there was no increase in voltage. I connect up a charger to the other places and instantly see "12.75V, 12.76, 12.77, etc". If I push the "battery indicator" button while something's in that "charge jack" the red LED shows with under 12.75V, the yellow LED shows for under 13.1V, a green LED shows for under 13.5V and 2 green LEDs show for over 13.5 (which makes sense to me). Yet if I push the indicator button without something in the "charging jack" the 2 green LEDs show even with the battery below 12.5V (seems weird to me that it's not consistent with above, but I may do more tests on what it does while draining). Also the switch for the outlets doesn't turn them off, but they work fine. Update Dec 2012: I got the guts to open up the case and on the back of the circuit board, I saw a line of solder going across the switch terminals for the "power outlet" switch. I'm 99% sure that shouldn't have been there, so popped it off and now the switch turns off the outlets. Still not sure about the charge issue though and didn't want to risk breaking the circuit board trying to get it out.

As far as it living up to it's title of "jump starting" a car, I have doubts. I've tested other units like this finding that just like this battery is ~1/3 the size of a car battery, you won't get but about that much power from it. I dislike the labels like "900 peak amp" to make it sound bigger than a cars battery with "500CCA" (yet I'd bet the only way anyone could get that power for even 1/2 a second from it is by putting a thick metal bar between the clamps). Update Oct-2012: I disconnected my car battery and tried starting my Ford Festiva (4 cyl) with this alone on a morning with it ~40 degrees out (disconnecting the car battery to simulate a dead one). It did start it, but the starter struggled just barely being able to crank it. I tested my car battery the next morning and it's labeled as 500cca, but passed as only a 200cca (showing I need to replace it soon). After doing that test (which drained some power) I started the car off of it and didn't notice anything abnormal or the starter barely going. So even with a car battery that's not very good, it has a lot more power than this (perhaps just from it's size and how it's built, perhaps from factors like much better connections thru the bolted on terminals versus spring jumper clamps).

The cars battery condition will also play a big role in whether or not this can "boost" you enough. If a cars battery is pretty weak (like from leaving your lights on while you went to a movie for 2 hours) but can still provide some power, this can give you some extra power and has a fair chance of getting you going. But if a cars battery is fully drained (like from leaving lights on all night long) and you hook this up to the dead battery, the dead battery will instantly start "stealing" power (to recharge itself) & probably drain this unit before you can even get from the hood to the driver seat & try to start the car. In that situation I doubt you'll get started without a charging source (an a/c charger or car & jumper cables).

I purchased this thinking this was an outright 900amp unit, when I went to pick it up (Advanced Auto)the unit stated 450 starting amps and 900 peak amps, obviously no one was able to tell me what that meant. But I kept it in the spirit of giving it a try. At home, I was able to take a closer look, to see the features. A switch for some workable LEDs, not to bad when you don't have a flashlight around. the DC plug, though I didn't use it yet, looked good. Nice rubber bottom on the unit to help it stay in place. After putting it through an 18hr or so charge, I plugged into a work van (Ford V8) that had a completely dead battery. Hooked up the unit to the battery, and ... nothing. Though I did hear the buzzing noise that my key was in the ignition, just not enough to do anything else. Now I left it for about 20 min. Didn't know if that was either enough or I had it on longer than needed or not enough for that matter, but came back and tried it again. I got into the van and this time the starter was trying to engage, and I kept cranking, either it was going to turn over or die on me again. Well it finally did turn over, which means I will be holding on to the unit, since the other two cars I own are 4 cyl. I have not plugged back into the charger I will see how it runs its course. But simply impressed enough for the price. I did get it at AA over than Amazon was purely price, a preblack Friday special of 50.00 which I thought was excellent at the time for 900 amps... which is really 450 starting amps.

Used once in two years.... worked fine. Now, two years later, seems it won't hold a charge. Charged regularly each month to have max performance available, but it is time for a new pack.

I've got the package today, I was so glad it made it in time. The box was ok, intact, same as picture but inside I've found another camera with no Infrared LEDs and also with the plastic scratched. In the picture it shows the lights and it is also in product description: "8-LED Infared Light For Night Vision". Rest of the specs seamed ok: 1080p, supports 32 GB card, motion activated.

I've tried to see how it works. Motion activaion works great. Image it is ok until it gets to a darker place, like after sunset. So no kind of night vision on what I've got.

I'm going to return it and maybe get something else.

Stinger normally gives a decent grade of product. I bought this to install a 0AWG main to supply a pair of 3000 watt amps.. I was informed by the installer that it would not work with the stock batter in my 07 trailblazerthat it's "designed" to work with the battery that Stinger produces.. no harm no foul, i'll find a use eventually or return it. Would have been nice to know that a GM battery clamp would not work on a GM vehicle in the description to avoid the troubles. And ditto to what the other person mentioned about the outputs.

The way they make it sound, you should be able to install this to the battery, then screw in the stock cable terminal on to it. This terminal can't support two 2awg wires so you can't add your amp cable. Sucks! Buy something else.
