Xantrex XPower 3000 Inverter GFCI & Remote ON/OFF UL458

Xantrex XPower 3000 Inverter GFCI & Remote ON/OFF UL458
  • Voltage - Input Range (Volts) NONE
  • Waterproof NONE
  • Power - Output (Watts) NONE
  • GFI NONE
  • Voltage - Inverter Input NONE

I was annoyed by the cooling fan of the ProWatt1750 coming on at 75*F, so decided to replace it in my garage/addition solar power. I picked the XPower3000 also by Xantrex because I was told it could be hard wired to the regular neutral/ground connected house wiring in my small panel. Also, it has a smaller idle power load, and will take the loads of my power tools better. I did have to disconnect my neutral/ground in my panel breaker box because it says it is accomplished internally and not to connect to a neutral/ground common buss bar panel. I was hoping the ProWatt1750 remote would work seeing it is the same phone jack type from the same company---but no, it does not work and I will have to empty out a lot of the attic and de-calk holes to get the remotes switched. That's the only installation hassles. I did add the recommended 300 amp fuse.

In performance, it makes a slight buzz, but the fan does not come on at lower temperatures. I am in no hurry to install the remote, because of the low draw when kept on. I'm sure it will handle my power tools even better, along with multiple loads. The price was over $60 cheaper, too, than the same XPower3000 elsewhere. The ProWatt 1750 is now my spare.

This inverter works great! I've had it for over a year and have used it to power a window ac, fan and pc equipment. Recently I began running it day and night using only solar and battery backup as the power source. This unit has run 3 laptops, phones, cameras, networking, and a fan at the highest setting all simultaneously with no problem.

Whistler XTR-140 Laser/Radar Detector with Exclusive Twin Alert Periscopes

Whistler XTR-140 Laser/Radar Detector with Exclusive Twin Alert Periscopes
  • Complete band coverage of all Laser, Radar, VG-2, and Safety Radar bands
  • Exclusive Twin Alert Periscope provides an added attention-getting visual alert
  • Easy-to-read icon display indicates power, city mode, band identification, and signal strength
  • Three unique city modes and highway mode to reduce false alarms
  • Patented VG-2 cloaking technology for undetectability

I was extremely skeptical about the performance of a $40 detector, but after a few recent road trips, I am convinced this is actually a well functioning product. Although it does not have exceptional filtering ability for false signals, it can still give you enough X/K/Ka warning for you to slow down in time.

The two blue LED's are a great innovation, because you can easily see them out of the corner of your eye. This is extremely useful when your radio drowns out the audible signals, or when the sun washes out the primary letter warning lights.

You simply can't go wrong with the price. It does not have the features of the top of the line detectors (coiled power cord, voice alert, text readout, settings save, compass, etc), yet it has at its core the most important feature: the basic detection ability to provide enough warning for the driver.

Buy Whistler XTR-140 Laser/Radar Detector with Exclusive Twin Alert Periscopes Now

i purchased the xtr 140 and it has been great so far, from what ive read the 330 has voice alerts and thats the only main difference. higher end radars have alot more features (compass, volt meter, aarows, pop detection etc) but none of that matters to me, i just wanted a radar detector that works. usually i find myself drifting 12 or so mph over the posted limit in the city and it gives me plenty of time to stop. besides a blip of ka when i pass a walgreens or cvs (if you are pointed at the doors its a full alert) the city 2 mode is pretty quiet. then again i can barely hear the radar when it goes off with the radio on so the lights come in handy to get my attention

i bought the 140 model because it was cheap but still accurate. i really dont care about a 3-4 mile range of detection because with instant off and instant on even a v1 cant save you if you are alone on the road. no one uses POP radar and im not going to pay another $50 for a feature im not going to use, and in the city there are so many cars on the road that i can pick up a trap in more than enough time to react.

************update 10/2/09***************

i have had this detector for about two years now and it has yet to disappoint me. however after owning it for about a year i felt the need to splurge and purchase a higher end unit, the whistler pro 78 rev c. i thought that my top tier purchase would blow my old xtr140 out of the water, but suprisingly the performance was nearly identical. however with the pro 78 you get to select what functions you want enabled or disabled.

in short i have to stick to my original review

pros:

i have gotten over a mile detection of a K band speed trap

i have also gotten slightly over a mile detection on k/a band

very clear display

VERY cheap

cons:

lacks internal memory. doesnt save settings

"chatty" on k and specifically x band. it will pick up your cvs walgreens everytime. its best to run city II mode if you do heavy city driving

i still recommend this product to anyone when they talk about speeding tickets. always gives me plenty of time for radar alerts

the whistler also has that signal strength meter, where as i believe the cobra does not. i have a cobra esd6060 and this whistler destroys it in detection distance

Nice quality. No nonsense.

Picks up some stray X from industrial parks or commercial buildings occasionally in Highway mode if buildings are adjacent to interstate, BUT these signals easily discerned giving only one bar on strength meter, and a couple warning only chirps.

However, first night out, I had my unit reach three bars, light up the entire display like a Christmas tree, blip the periscopes constantly, basically seemed like the thing was going to implode ("scary"), and then I saw the cop! He was about 3/4 mile away, opposite side of interstate facing me with a victim pulled over, lights flashing.

Caught him a second time while exiting an off ramp in a hotel parking lot perpendicular to me prior to that with another victim! "Big, bad, Dodge Hemi" cruiser, all painted up with intimidating graphics. "Big bad", muscle car, chase car with undoubtedly the latest radar.

All I know is that this little $38 Whistler "smells" his butt a mile away like a geiger counter detecting radiation! He hangs in the same geographic area around my workplace constantly busting people (a real worka"ho"lic), but now I can "smell" him a mile away for $38!

Me like!

Want Whistler XTR-140 Laser/Radar Detector with Exclusive Twin Alert Periscopes Discount?

I recently bought this detector for my wife since she racked up a few tickets lately, and it has blown me away! I have an older Whistler 1545 detector that is pushing 10 years old now, and this one destroys it (even though the old one cost twice as much). The blue lights are a real attention-getter and the volume dial is a treat (something my old one doesn't have one). This baby picks up waaay farther than my old unit. It picked up a county Sheriff last night over half a mile away, over a HILL! It also caught the splash back from one of the automated radar warning signs they park on the highway (the "Your Speed Is__" things). We were coming up to it, it was 100 yards ahead of us facing oncoming traffic (away from us), and the detector caught the reflected radar waves bouncing off the oncoming trucks. Unbelievable. You would expect his level of performance in the $100-$200 detectors, but not from one that was under 40 bucks. This baby is a real gem.

Needless to say, I am buying another one to replace my old Whislter! Highly recommended.

Pros: Inexpensive, easy set-up, user friendly, exceptional performance.

Cons: None yet.

It's almost exactly the same as my old Whistler 1732 radar detector. The only pluses are the blue lights stand out at night, but you can't even see them in the daytime. Also, the 3rd city mode lets you get rid of the X band which almost no police use anymore anyway so it cuts down the false alerts by at least 80%.Worth it, although everything resets everytime so that sucks almost enough to want to buy the next model up.But for now it will work. Also it's way bigger than my old one.Not bad though for 40 bucks.

Stanley J309 300 Amp Jump Starter

Stanley J309 300 Amp Jump StarterAwesome! Plenty of jump start power. Purchased 1 from Amazon & another from my local hardware store(same model). Used 4 times in the last few days on our fleet vehicles. Cars/trucks/vans...no problems. Charging is easy on this model, just plug it in with an ordinary household AC extension cord or use the DC adapter supplied. Also, this unit has an on/off switch. My old one didn't so the terminals were 'HOT' all the time. Life saver device, well worth the bucks!

I bought this jumper to jump my motorcycle. The battery goes dead every winter and I am not in an area where I would be able to keep the battery charged over the winter (I am forced to park the thing out on the street). Anyway, this jumper works great I plugged it in, let it charge for a day (although I don't think it requires a full day to charge) and jumped my bike right up the battery on my bike was completely dead prior to the jump. Very easy, no problems.

Buy Stanley J309 300 Amp Jump Starter Now

Nice features, well constructed. I plug it in to charge it up once a month. (more often than suggested) I let it charge for two full days when I charge it, indicators read full charge.

I needed to use it today because my car battery finally died (6 years old). I plugged the Stanley in to top up the charge, let it top up for two hours. Indicator showed full charge. Tried to start the car. Nothing. I could see sparks when I attached the battery, so I know there was juice, but just not enough to turn over the 6 cylinder engine.

The Stanley unit has a battery level indicator, before the attempt it read full charge. After, the indicator was in the middle. Back inside, I hook it up to charge it again, it reads low.

GM road side assistance showed up with a much beefier version of a portable battery source, and the car started up immediately.

This unit is one year old, so I am guessing that the internal battery just does not last, or can not actually supply the starting current that it claims.

Just a big beautiful paper weight. Go for a much beefier unit, or perhaps one with lithium ion batteries. Better yet, just subscribe to a road side assistance plan.

My battery wouldn't hold a charge and I used this every day for 4 months to start my car and it exceeded my expectations. I never expected it to last that long, but with charging once every 3 weeks or so it worked fine. Small, portable, and much easier than jumper cables. Highly recommended.

DB Link RTG0 0-Gauge Gold Ring Terminal

DB Link RTG0 0-Gauge Gold Ring Terminal
  • Gold Ring Terminal
  • Clear, Heat-Resistant
  • Plastic Housing
  • 0 Gauge

I've purchased a few DB Link wiring products, and I've been happy with them all for the price. For these, I'm very happy. They fit some Monster single aught (1/0) cable perfectly. Well, mine had very thick insulation like 1/4 inch but the wire itself fits perfectly. I just had to trim the insulation down a little. Normal wire would probably fit very nicely (there's a little space at the end where the insulation will fit inside the connector for a clean look). The set screw uses a reasonably large allen wrench, so I felt confident that I was getting it cranked down solidly and making a good connection. These feel reasonably substantial, and the ring terminal is offset some on the body so it will work well with different clearance situations. I think the hole was .25", but now I don't remember if it was 5/16 or 1/4. I'll go measure it later and update the review. Maybe I'll take some pictures, too. :)

Otherwise, I feel that I should note that the ad doesn't make it clear if you get 1 or 2. You get two, one with black print and one with red. I only used one, and was happy with the price at that point; two is a pretty good bargain, I think. If I need more of these kinds of things, I'll definitely look to DB link as a viable option.

These ring terminals fit the 0 gauge wire great. The finish on them is nice lood just like the picture. My fuse holder had to be modified a little bit the cover would not snap into place all the way but it was worth it just for the look.

So I purchased 3 packs, so a total of 6 terminals. I used them to do the Big 3 Upgrade. They way you crimp the 1/0 Wire is easy to do and works very well. What I disliked was that if your using them to ground a wire you need to put 2 washers so that you can get the best contact possible. In my opinion that is a big flaw. The area were the bolt goes in the back part its not flush with the rest of the back of the terminal and that's why you need washers. Do I regret getting them no

Schumacher PSJ-4424 DSR ProSeries 4400 Peak Amps Jump Starter and Portable Power Unit

Schumacher PSJ-4424 DSR ProSeries 4400 Peak Amps Jump Starter and Portable Power UnitThis model is a recent purchase and I also have one 12V only model (3600) that I purchased two years ago. I own two farms and several vehicles and various farm equipment. Both units are very rugged and perform very well. I have used them both to start farm tractors, cars, trucks, mowers, a generator, and my Bobcat in winter. The cables and clamps are heavy commercial quality items that store nicely when not in use. The built-in charger works well to quickly charge and maintain the internal batteries. It will jump-start several vehicles between charges. These have really proved invaluable and save me the hassle of getting a truck close in while trying to get the battery side close enough so I can wrestle around with a cold set of jumper cables what a pain.. I carry one of these on trips, when towing or in bad weather so in an emergency I don't have to rely on the kindness of strangers for a jump-start although I have rescued two damsels in distress and one city guy with a Neon so far. You don't have to worry about smoking the alternator on your truck when jumping an unfamiliar vehicle either. The accessory 12V cigarette lighter-type outlet has actually proven to be a handy "never thought I would use it" feature. The switches are commercial quality and are not flimsy junk like many others. The LED readout actually provides useful information concerning internal battery or vehicle voltage levels or percentage of charge. If you are in the market for a no-nonsense unit, then I can tell you I have been very pleased with both of mine. You can rest assured that you will get what you pay for. Ladies, these would make a great gift for your busy guy. Just make sure it's big enough for his equipment. The 12V only is fine unless he has really big trucks, tractors or airplanes. I had to buy both of mine myself. I was able to take advantage of an Amazon gift card to help out on the second one. I was very surprised how quickly this one arrived.

Only charges to 63%. Amazon has no system for complaints, returns, resolutions because it was sold by amazon and it is battery (hazardous).

They suggest the manual, the manufacturer which I am trying, but, we have a commercial vehicle down in a field waiting for a jump.

Frustrating it is better to purchase from a reseller than from Amazon directly.

Buy Schumacher PSJ-4424 DSR ProSeries 4400 Peak Amps Jump Starter and Portable Power Unit Now

I had intended to buy a high capacity jump starter for some time for use on the farm. I was prompted to go ahead and get one a few months ago because the batteries on my Dodge Ram 3500 have reached the point that they will hold a charge for only a few days -some times the truck may set a week without being used. Since the vehicle starts fine when used regularly, I didn't want to buy a new pair of batteries till I had to.

I have been amazed at the power that this jump starter delivers. It starts my truck's relatively big Diesel engine every bit as easily as new batteries would.

Only one minor complaint: The cables on the jump starter lack a couple of feet being long enough to reach from the ground to the battery on my truck. This is a minor problem -I simply set it on the bumper.

As I said, I have owned this jump starter only a few months. If future problems occur, I will amend this rating.

I used it to start up a ford econoline with a seized up alternator, and it turned it over like nothing. I had to keep it on the van because the battery was dead and would stall without the power. I had to start it 8 or so times to drive it up on my trailer.

Only problem with it is the fan stays on the entire time it is plugged in. The manual says you can leave it plugged in forever, but I don't know how long that little fan inside can take it. That is my only problem with it so far.

Very heavy & solid. Have never used as cars, motorhome & motorcycles not failing yet. However, reading other reviews this seems to be a very reliable jumpstarter. LaserShield BSK13101 Home Alarm Kit

LaserShield BSK13101 Home Alarm KitDon't make the same mistake.

1If you don't subscribe to a monitoring service you cannot have any functionality at all. Can't make it call you to your phone, can't make it send you a TXT even if you have the sparrow thing installed.

2The audible alarm sounds a little louder than my alarm clock in buzzer mode.

3The sensors are definitively not state of the art, as the description states.

I have had alarms in the past so I have something to compare to. I know this is not the top of the line system, but I have had descent alarm systems that call up to five numbers without subscribing to a service.

This thing has a lot of potential! What if the Sparrow module would let you monitor it yourself through the internet. or activate it and deactivate it online... check which sensors are active, etc... that would be something. I have looked for something like this and haven't found a good product. I would pay for the Sparrow if it did something more than send info to an alarm company.

Hope my review helps you... Maybe if you're willing to pay for the service it would work OK... but most alarm companies install their stuff for free if you stay with them for 2 years. I have had ADT before... Sylvania also makes some nice "monitor yourself" alarms like for around 150...I just thought this one would be able to dial without the alarm company service.

Black & Decker 100-Watt Inverter VEC1044BD

Black & Decker 100-Watt Inverter VEC1044BDI bought one of these at Walmart for around $15 when I couldn't find my no-name inverters. This one has worked great, I take it on every plane trip I go on. Normally I use this to power my laptop ($15 for an inverter is better than 50-100 for a laptop-specific DC power adapter, if you can even find one). One time when the battery was low, the inverter kept shutting itself off. It would work for a few seconds, then quit until I unplugged + plugged it back in. My theory is that when the laptop battery was extremely low, the power adapter was drawing more wattage than this little inverter could handle. Other than that one time, I've had no problems. Has a little fan noise, normally not noticeable. Definitely recommended, nicer (better built) than the no-name inverters I've tried.

I believe that if everyone would put one of these in their car they would wonder how they did without. Many uses including laptop charge, cell phone, and cordless drills. The noise that the other reviewer refers to is from the fan keeping the unit cool.

Excellent product as it is small, light and without an unnecessary power cord. The bending head is ideal for getting the connected power cord out of the way in a vehicle. Replaces a big & bulky unit that I used to use.

I really liked this product when I first bought it. Then the internal fan started making funny noises (much louder than the operating noise). I exchanged it for a new one. The new unit was much quieter than the previous unit, but then started making the same noisy fan. It seems the fan is wobbly and takes a little tapping to get the fan back to the normal alignment.

I'm taking it back again

I have this mount on my windshield. Although it looks sturdy, it wobbles in my car. Not as bad as two other mount kits I have tried, but this was the most expensive.

Good:

love the rotation ability

very stable on the window

tight grip on the phone

charge plug kept close at hand

not so good:

grip on the phone is so tight it requires two hands to get the phone in it

extra step to put the plug in

All in all this is a great cradle for my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 after considering all of the other alternatives...additionally it'll let me use it for other phones if I ever leave my beloved Note 2 (doubtful though).

Hitachi WR18DL 18-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Wrench

Hitachi WR18DL 18-volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact WrenchI install garage doors, and my impact wrench is my number one weapon. I have owned a 14.4 Milwaukee, 14.4 DeWalt, 18v DeWalt, and now this one. I had to send the Milwaukee back numerous times because of it's poor build quality. I have had motors die on the DeWalt due to its poor cooling design. There are small plastic fins in the motor which move air and keep the motor cool, and they have broken of on every DeWalt impact I have owned. I have been using the Hitachi for more than 4 months without a problem. I look actually look forward to using it. The battery stays secured to the drill, even after a four five foot fall. I laughed at the little light it comes with at first, but it has come in handy in dark garages. The torque is strong enough to pull the lug nuts of a wheel hub, and the battery life is stellar. One battery will get me through multiple double sized garage door installs. The DeWalt would kill at least too full batteries in only one install. It's safe to say that one Hitachi lithium-ion batter = 3+ DeWalt NiCads.

Another reviewer has mentioned a bad smell from the motor. All my impacts, drills, saws, and other power tools have gave off burning odor during the break-in of the tool. This is normal.

One other component of the impact which I enjoy is the pin. Unlike the DeWalt, the pin is designed to keep the socket secure when the pin of the impact is in line with the hole of the socket. The socket WILL come off of the impact with a little force unlike the DeWalt. With the DeWalt, the pin had to be compressed with a nail or screw in order to remove the socket.

To sum this review up... Buy the Hitachi.

Whoa....size does matter! Small, compact, lightweight size in this instance. If you want a cordless impact wrench...you've gotta try this baby! I can hardly believe the power it has for such a small tool! I work at a wrecking yard driving fork lift, and pull and park an average of 30-40 vehicles a day. I have had my Hitachi impact for almost a year now and I use it 5 days a week to remove wheels from many of these cars and trucks among other tasks. Then I bring it home on weekends in case I have any tasks at home that I might want use it for....it's a tool I just don't like to be without in case I have a wrenching job! I am a mechanical guy and work on cars, appliances, and about anything else that I can fix myself.

I have owned several impact wrenches. I've had a few cheap ones that I won't bother to talk about. Previous to my Hitachi, I had a Goodyear Racing impact wrench. I liked it and it did a good job, but it was heavy, clumsy, and pretty much designed just for using on lug nuts. The batteries also didn't last a long time on a charge and deteriorated a little each time they were recharged requiring replacement after about 6 months. Finally, my charger went belly up as it fried my last battery, so, I went shopping for a new impact wrench as I really need to have a cordless impact on my job.

First I bought a Makita impact wrench thinking that would be the answer. It was lithium-ion, so that solved the battery problem to a great degree, but what a monster. Again, big and heavy and clumsy, and I don't think it was as powerful as my Goodyear Racing impact gun....I quickly returned this puppy.

Then I tried the Hitachi WR18DL....and let me tell you.....this baby smokes! Very light and small and easy to handle but has lots of power and 2 speed settings and was about the same price as the Makita. It is super fast for removing or installing bolts and nuts of all kinds and sizes. It won't do like 1 ton trucks and once in a while at work I will get a lug nut that is so tight that it won't break it loose and I have to break the nut with a fourway by hand. That said, she goes thru 95% of the lug nuts and anything else I have tried without breakin' a sweat.

This little Hitachi impact makes every job that involves wrenching fast and easy and a pleasure to do. As another reviewer said, and I concur, "I actually look forward to using this tool". I have two 3.0 amp hour batteries that I use and they do a great job and last a long time on a charge.

In conclusion....yeah....you can buy a more powerful impact (just double the price and weight), but when you consider size....weight....power and price combined....I don't think you can beat this little impact wrench with anything else on the market! Just a note, if you're shopping for an impact wrench, make sure its an impact wrench your looking at and not an impact driver.....totally different tools.

I am a satisified customer of this impact from Hitachi and was happy to do a review of this tool.

I am a Hitachi fan converted over from Makita. I use this Hitachi WR18DL 18-volt Cordless Impact Wrench to change flat tires on my 2 construction trailers. This Hitachi takes the drudgery out of changing flat tires.

Now I am also using it instead of my air impact wrench around my shop, etc. etc. NO AIR HOSES NEEDED.

Got the WR18DL today and it promptly took a lug nut that was torqued to 80ft/lb off my Maxima in about 5 seconds. I plan on keeping this lightweight bulldog in my trunk at all times for just that purpose.

One thing about Hitachi Li-Ion tools that gets overlooked is their battery technology. All Li-Ion batteries are not alike! Hitachi uses the same nano-phosphate formula that DeWalt uses. This technology allows the cycle-life of these batteries to be tripled over the standard manganese (Milwaukee and pretty much everyone else uses this) to 1000-1500 cycles. Manganese Li-Ion only lasts 300-500 cycles same as NiCd and NiMH. You will need new batteries a lot less often with Hitachi and DeWalt as a result.

I really wish that Ryobi would adapt their One+ impact driver to a wrench because I have their 18V Li-Ion battery, but they didn't yet. Since Ryobi uses manganese Li-Ion, this is no great hardship. Hitachi sells many bare tools that can use these batteries, so while it's not as versatile as the One+ system, it's the next best thing with better batteries!

If you're taking big rig tires off, go for the Snap-On CT4850, but anything shy of that can be done at half the price and half the weight by the WR18DL (again) with better batteries!

Lovin' it.

Don't let the size of this tool trick you. This fanstastic little powerhouse removes the wheel lugs on my trailer and SUVs rapidly. The specs say it's only 1950in-pounds, or 162ft-pounds. It seems to have this plus some. For seriously stubborn tasks, a large and heavy electric may be necessary or a pneumatic impact for the ultimate torque, but for 98% of what I do messing with my Jeeps and lawn tractor blade changing etc, this is a super convenient, small, lightweight powerhouse... (and I don't have to move my compressor, or run super long air lines to my work.)

I shopped for a long time before buying this. There are heavier impacts... Ingersol Rand makes a great cordless with Lithium batteries at 350 ft-pounds. It's $400 w/ two batteries. The Dewalt cordless impact has 300 ft-pounds at $299, but it continues to use the outdated Nicad batteries..in the heat where I live, these fail rapidly and you spend a fortune replacing them every year. I looked at more powerful plug-ins, all above the $150 range have great torque (like the Dewalt:340 ft-pounds at $179), but you'll have to run that power cord to your task. And, most of these tools are HEAVY.

My plan is to use this lightweight powerhouse for most of my chores, and when I need super torque, either hit the task with a 24 inch breaker bar, or breakdown and get a corded electric. If your wheel lugs are not seriously coroded and neglected, this tool seems to have the muscle to take them off. It's so small, it's almost fun to see this tool remove the lugs so easily!

Roadpro 7 Liter 12V Cooler / Warmer with Cup Holders

Roadpro 7 Liter 12V Cooler / Warmer with Cup HoldersFrom a starting ambient temp. of 75 degrees it heated up to 110 in 10 minutes and cooled down to 50 degrees in 20 minutes from that 110. Not sure what others expect but this seems quite satisfactory to me. It is built real sturdy with a nice carrying strap and the lid locks open for convenience. Obviously the cup holders are convenient while the power cord stores under these cup holders if so desired.

Keep in mind this unit is NOT a refrigerator or an oven as some reviewers have expected it to be. Pre chill or heat the items and this unit works marvelously all day long.

I also like the fact it only uses 2-3 amps since I plan and using it at times with a remote 12 amp hr. DC power source. This easily gives me a full 3 hours plus of heating or cooling without recharging. I also like that it's 8 1/2 inches tall on the inside for the taller bottles. This also works out great for the primary reason I bought this unit, to heat/cool 20 oz. CO2 tanks for my air rifles/pistols.

I haven't researched all the units or compared all the features but for $40 this Roadpro 7 liter cooler/warmer definitely is a good value regardless. I liked mine so much I purchased another one.

We are very pleased with both Roadpro and their cooler. However, our experience did not start out so well. We received the Roadpro 12V cooler for Christmas 2009, and were so busy we did not have a chance to try it out until after Amazon's 30-day return policy had expired. The first unit we received did not cool at all. We contacted Roadpro through their website, and were pleased with their reply and instructions on how to return the bad unit for a replacement. We did so, Roadpro followed through with a new unit, and it works great. We keep it powered through a "Koolatron Battery Saver" in the car, which prevents the car battery from running down overnight. We also keep a blue cool-pack in the cooler, too help keep it cool when the battery saver turns off the power.

The unit holds a 6-pack of canned soda, or any equivalent amount of drinks or food. We recommend the Roadpro company, the Roadpro 12V Cooler, and the Koolatron Battery Saver.

Well, I ordered this for a long road trip we've just returned from and have to say I'm definitely disappointed. While it works, as in turns on and off, it doesn't actually "work," as in keeping beverages all that cool. Is it cooler than, say, the ambient temperature of your car? Definitely. Is it as cool as a cooler? Not even close.

The unit's power connection also seems to loosen frequently with the jiggling motion inherent in a moving car, so that's another downer. Fortunately (????), it's quite loud (fan), so you can tell when it's jiggled itself loose, again, and fix it quickly. I will also note the cup holders on the top are NOT as pictured here, but are instead shallow slots on the top of the unit that are almost too small for a can of soda. At any rate, you wouldn't put a full can in as you have to wiggle the can to get it out and, therefore, spill it all over; which we did, several times. (Also, in case you're wondering, the cup holders are not cooling/heating.)

To sum up, if you put cold from the fridge cans in this unit, they'll say moderately cool as long as the unit is on, but not as cold as they were when you put them in. But this unit will NOT cool warm soda, even after it's been in there for hours, and the top layer of cans (they have to stack on top of each other to fit in 12) doesn't get any cooling at all, necessitating a constant shifting of drinks in order to use it. If you're trying to put in odd-size bottles or anything else ... Well, good luck with that.

We never tried the "keep warm" function but, all in all, I'm sorry I wasted my money and will stick with my $5 cooler and an ice pack from now on.

I'm an over the road truck driver and I run this cooler 24/7 weeks at a time and it has been working as described. While it's not a refrigerator, it does cool enough to keep my milk, butter, and mayonnaise from spoiling. Also plan ahead when putting items in it, because it can cool a room temp drink but will take about 5 hours.

UPDATE 2/17/13 Broke after 3 months of use, Fan would come on with green light but just stopped cooling. So exchanged it and then after 2 months the replacement also broke. Same issue fan comes on everything sounds and appears working but just never gets cools. Ended up buying a 44Q Coleman 12v Cooler (ac cord also included)with 2 year extended warranty for $97 out the door at Walmart.

This is a very nice cooler and keeps foods and drinks cold for a long time.

I purchased this for my grandson who is a truck driver. The other coolers

he purchased did not retain the cool temperatures for the long time he required.

The only thing that would make it better is that it could be a little larger.
