Peak PKC0CV 4/10/20/40 Amp Intelligent Battery Charger

Peak PKC0CV 4/10/20/40 Amp Intelligent Battery ChargerI love this charger. Perfect for my RV having 2 parallel deep discharge batteries. Charging with my on-board gas generator seriously speeds up the charge at the 40 amp rate. While paying $4 for gas I don't want to run the generator unnecessarily with a charger having a slower charge rate.

It works as promised. But the manual is not too clear about how it works. There is no transformer. It's a High Frequency switching power supply and charges by both constant current and constant voltage only near the end. Near the end of charge the microprocessor switches back to constant voltage to top off the battery at a much slower rate.

I set the mode at 40 amps and if the batteries are deeply discharged, it stays steady as a rock at the 40 amps, up until it approaches 90% of the full capacity. Then you can see the charge rate taper off as it slows down the charge until it's full.

I spoke to customer service about the 90 day warranty. They just didn't get around to updating the warranty period to a year. But they have not denied a free exchange to anyone, no matter how long they had it. Of course they want to reserve the right to deny a free exchange if it was abused. IMHO for the money, it's the best in value, rating the performance vs cost.

I would like to buy this but just noticed that the warranty is only 90Days!!! That's it???? Only 90days!!! They must not think much of their product!! Even unreliable Vector VEC 1095 offers 5 Years, last time I checked (I had 6 of those).

I bought this little terminal and found out it doesnt fit my KnuKonceptz 1/0 gauge cable, i must have overlooked the terminal and mistakenly got the wrong one. works great if you got 2 gauge cable and above. it requires a hex key to tighten onto battery top post and it has a fitting to snug up connection better to the battery post. Its a nice solid piece, compared to the others ive used. hopefully it works out great for anyone else

GTMax 6pcs - Black Rubberized Hard Case + LCD Screen Protector + Car Charger + Travel Charger + Micro USB Data Cable + Stylus for AT&T Samsung GALAXY S2 / SII I9100 AttainYou get what you pay for. The biggest problem I had with this product is that it was advertised to fit my Samsung Attain. Everything works but the screen protector. It is not cut right. But like I said. You get what you pay for.

The screen protector fits perfectly on my Galaxy S2. I never tried putting the case on (I got more expensive version), but it seems to be a descent quality product. All the cables are a big plus, everything works so far. Stylus is ok, I thought it will be a little bit different.

For the amount of accessories you get and price you pay for all that, it is an amazing deal.

I found this package while searching for accessories for Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, and I made purchase because the details led me to believe that they were indeed made to fit and to be used by that particular version of the Samsung Galaxy smartphone. When package arrived, it was obvious that the items were made to be used with the first generation Galaxy. Not even the charger would work correctly with my phone, it being dead as a hammer. The stylus was a toy. Since the package cost so little, I just threw it away, rather than going through the hassle of returning it. Normally, I observe the old adage. "If it's too good to be true.....", but greed got me this time. Don't consider buying this product!

fabulous. I originally bought this package just for the car charger and extra cables, but all the bonus stuff is a steal! I never thought I would like using a case with my galaxy s2, but I LOVE the case. It's so sleek and still protects the phone. Snaps right into place. Although the screen protector didn't fit. But everything else is good. I even use the stylus with my kindle fire.

Husky Liners Custom Fit Heavy Duty Front Floor Mat for Select Ford/Lincoln ModelsI bought these for my wife's 2002 Ford Crewcab and they fit very well and for the money I think they are great.

The mats are well made, durable and tough. I was a little disappointed with the fit. There floor mats are not a perfect fit for a F150. On the passenger's side, there was a small raised area on the floor mat because it did not fit exactly in the space. Most probably would not notice, but it I was always pushing the mat down into contact with the floor board.

Griffin Technology PowerPod Firewire Auto Charger for iPod

Griffin Technology PowerPod Firewire Auto Charger for iPod
  • Convenient cigarette lighter adapter charges iPod while you drive
  • Charges in both standby mode and while playing music
  • Fits into any 12V accessory outlet or car lighter jack
  • Includes 4-foot cable with dock connector on one end, Firewire port on the other (connects to PowerPod)
  • Compatibility: iPod nano (1G and 2G), iPod mini, 3G iPod, 4G iPod with click wheel, iPod Color, iPod Video

I'm not someone that spends all day on the road, but I do take enough trips and even use my iPod around town. Ipod car chargers can incredibly overpriced as can a simple firewire cable. So It's a bargin to get not only a car charger, but an extra firewire cable, so I can leave one plugged into my Mac all the time.

Looking for a car charger, I noticed this one had a removable FireWire cable which meant I could use any other cable I want. Now that I've upgraded to the new iPod (I got a new 15 GB) I was suprised to discover that it works with the new iPods too. I just use the dock-to-FireWire cable that comes with the new iPod and it works perfectly. Even IF I buy an extra dock cable, it's still less than the Belkin charger at 40 bucks. Plus I can use it interchangeably with my wife's iPod (my old one ;).

All in all, the PowerPod is a great value, flexable and future-proof. You can't ask for much more. I don't hesitate recommending this iPod charger to anyone.

When I initially bought my iPod Mini I did not purchase this, but I soon found out if you play your iPod constantly like I do, you will be in dire straights if you don't have one. Some people will complain that the portion that goes in the cigarette lighter is loose ow whatnot keep in mind that different cars have different lighter sizes although they may vary slightly. I drive a Nissan Maxima and it fits very well...the cord is a wee bit short in my opinion but still worth the investment to keep your iPod playing.

This is my second (and counting) Griffin accessory for my iPod mini. First I bought the iTrip transmitter, and then I picked up this dandy little gadget since I was using my mini so much more and kept forgetting to plug it in at night. I like that the wire disconnects from the power unit to hook up to the USB port on my computer to update my mini. It is sooooooooo easy to use and helps since I travel a lot for hockey. Definitely a bargain at twice the price.

I've had this product for about a month now and have had no noise or interference with my iPod mini. It charges while it plays, and I have had it plugged in w/o the car running (no longer than 1hr), and the car battery didn't die. I use it with the Griffin iTrip with great results. I used it on an 8hr drive from IL to MI and was very pleased. I will be making the same trip home and back to school again soon and suggest this product to anyone who makes road trips.

Griffin NA15005 RoadTrip Handsfree for iPod, iPhone and Smartphones -Black

Griffin NA15005 RoadTrip Handsfree for iPod, iPhone and Smartphones -Black
  • Play your iPod or iPhone on your car's FM stereo while you recharge its battery .
  • Flexible steel neck and case-friendly cradle holds your iPod or iPhone securely where you want it .
  • Easy SmartScan 1-button setup finds the best frequency for you .
  • Griffin SmartSound adjusts the signal for best sound, always .

Just arrived. Took it out for a spin around my neighborhood and it just works. Setup took under five minutes. It suggested I download the app. I did and it made the setup that much easier. Not having to press and hold buttons to set/change stations is quite nice. The interface of the app is a much larger display to read. Well worth the download.

I live in a VERY saturated city and the stations hold well. However the stations suggested by the SmartScan feature were not the best by a long shot. Fortunately I knew and had already set the best channels on my radio. The phone works very well. My voice, according to my parties, came through very clear with no background noise. It was hard to tell I was in my car. Their voice on my end was also very clear. Conversations can be had without shouting by either party.

Static still creeps in but that's common in a saturated market such as mine. I have yet to find a transmitter that was static-free. However, I came close with the last RoadTrip model. Changing the output to mono gave a clear static-free sound. The loss of the sound stage was noticeable but not unpleasant.

The design is very sleek. Soft blue lights provides a very pleasing effect at night. The display is very easy to read and very nicely designed. The menu can easily be navigated without reading the manual.

It's nicely built. However I found the swivel on the holder a bit looser than I'd like. That's my only concern so far. So, I'm keeping the box and packing materials handy just in case. There's no need to remove even the bulkiest case (short of military grade) I can imagine. The holder is adjustable and is nicely padded with soft rubber.

Bottom line:

It's the best FM transmitter I found so far for the iPhone 4.

I was a little hesitant to purchase and FM transmitter for my car. I heard they didn't work as advertised and that I would hear a lot of static with my music. But when I bought a used car and an FM transmitter was the only way I'd be able to listen to my iPod, I needed to get one.

The Griffin Roadtrip Hands-Free was the only practical option when it came to FM transmitters. It plays and charges the iPod just like it's supposed to and the ability to talk on the phone through the car stereo and microphone is really nice. The only design flaw I can think of right now is that instead of pausing the iPod when a phone call comes in, it mutes the music. I have songs on my iPod because I like the music and I don't want to miss them if I have a long conversation on the phone. You can still manually pause the iPod, but it creates an extra step.

In terms of performance, I've heard that sound quality can depend quite heavily on the location of a car's antenna. Mine is built in to the rear window and I'd say sound quality is pretty good. If I listen hard, or during pauses between songs, I can usually hear a little static. The biggest factor in sound quality is the competing radio stations. I've found a station that maintains good quality for my trip from work to home, but if I deviate from that path, I usually have to use the Roadtrip's built in station finder. It usually does a good job of picking clear stations, but sometimes it only lasts for a few minutes.

In terms of the physical layout, the buttons are easy to find and press, and the lighting of the screen is not too bright for night driving. I love being able to rotate the iPod dock and move the neck around. It holds the position well, though I've only had it for about two months.

If you're looking for a good FM transmitter, I'd highly recommend you purchase this one. It's not perfect, but in my eyes, it's the best one one the market.

I was awaiting this car adapter for my iPhone for months to be released as my current Belkin TuneBase product which I have two was working except the LED numerals are burning out in each.

The stalk strength seems sufficient for most use. The adapter holds an iphone but a bit looser than the Belkin product a little wobbliness can occur.

I haven't tried the Bluetooth mode yet but the biggest problem with this device is weak FM signal transmission. I bought two of these and each behaves the same. In sport utility and crossover vehicles, the FM antenna is often not located near the front window. In both of my cars they are on a rear quarter window. The FM is almost complete static unless I cup my hand behind the unit essentially turning myself into an antenna. In a car with the FM antenna up front, the signal strength seems sufficient.

I discovered through trial and error that one can wrap a narrow gauge wire around the top of the stalk where it pivots to connect to the base. This appears to be near where the FM transmitter is located. This wire behaves like a passive antenna and one can then position the length of wire to an optimal position to optimize the signal output. I decided to wrap the wire around the antenna feed that leads into the back of my car radio. So it's actually not completely wireless a user modification is required if you have a sport utility or your car's FM antenna is not near the front.

I was under the impression this had a 5 watt FM transmitter but reading up, I think the specs only mean it draws 5 watts of power to power the whole unit. There is no way a full 5 W FM signal can't reach an indoor antenna 6 feet away. I believe this could be an electronic engineering deficiency in its design.

If this flaw gets fixed, then I would increase my rating to 5 stars. Right now, it has to be a buyer beware for you alpha adopters.

Like other reviewers, I waited months for this unit, only to be severely disappointed. The FM signal output is so weak as to be almost useless.

It's not because of any FCC-mandated limits, either. I've owned several other FM transmitters (major brands, mind you, not no-name Asian knockoffs), and the RoadTrip Handsfree is hands-down the worst of the lot.

Here's how lame it is: I live in Central MD, where there aren't any truly clear frequencies, so much as there's one empty frequency between stations, all the way up and down the FM dial. With every other FM transmitter I've had, I could tune it to one of those between-station frequencies, then use the Seek button on my car's radio to tune into that frequency, as if my transmitter were its own "station".

Not so on the RoadTrip Handsfree. The Seek button went right past my chosen frequency as if there was nothing there. The signal is THAT weak. And my car's antenna is pretty much directly above the RoadTrip unit.

The upshot is that no matter which frequency I try, the signal is constantly overtaken by static as I drive, and my music fuzzes in and out. I can cup my hand around the stalk of the thing, as another reviewer noted, and that seems to improve the signal a bit, but that's about it.

Haven't used it for a phone call yet, so I can't speak to that. SmartScan is useless -it keeps picking frequencies that are already stations.

I was also unimpressed that every time I plugged in my iPhone, a message popped up informing me that an app was "required" to use the accessory. I finally downloaded the silly thing -which does nothing you can't do with the RoadTrip's buttons -just so it'd stop nagging me about it. Haven't used the app since.

Maybe if you live in rural country with broad swaths of clear spectrum, the HandsFree would work for you. For my part, I'll be sending it back and looking into other brands instead.

I bought this as a mount, an FM transmitter, AND a handfree calling device.

Unlike others, I had no problem with the gooseneck not supporting my phone. The phone (even within a big case) fits on this device just fine. It's easy to put on; easy to take off. The FM transmitter works ... okay. My local reception is a problem, but that's not the fault of the device. It worked great to enable me to hear my Mapquest app's turn-by-turn directions.

My complaint about this device is the "handsfree" capability. It didn't always auto-pair to my phone (sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't) -but the real problem is that no one could understand me when I spoke into this thing, on a call. My car's cigarette lighter sits down low -so the microphone on the phone (that's the only microphone, for the unit) is far away from my mouth. It just couldn't be used as a handsfree device. Griffin was contacted, and had absolutely no suggestions.

I'm giving 2 stars because the handsfree part is the primary reason I bought this. If you're looking for a mount/FM transmitter, your rating might be higher.

Rally 7542 12V Vehicle Battery and Alternator Tester

Rally 7542 12V Vehicle Battery and Alternator TesterI bought this item almost two years ago and have since used it on several vehicles and have never had an issue. Perhaps the other reviewer purchased a defective unit, usually you get what you pay for, in this case I am satisfied.

I bought this unit at a local store as a Christmas stocking suffer but was curious about using it. I placed it in the 12V port of my Toyota Rav4. I came back later and started the vehicle. In less than ten seconds there was smoke coming out of the port. I pulled the unit out as fast as possible. The very end of the tester was gone. Vaporized. This is the primary port in my vehicle and I use it often with many electronics and have never had any problems with this port. I wonder what may have happened if I had left the vehicle for even a moment. I definitely cannot recommend this product.

I know buying Chinese electronics is a roll of the dice... That said, I only seriously considered this unit after reading a positive review in QST magazine and after doing some further research. Several other consumer reviews said essentially the same thing: that it is a pretty good HT for the money. These days, even some of the Japanese "big names" are using Chinese components. So I decided to order one for myself. After purchasing this HT and using it heavily for two months I have to say I was very impressed with the audio quality, the sensitivity of the receiver, the features and also the durability. Furthermore, the cost of accessories is unbelievably low. That is an area where you will save a ton of money. On the downside, the manual is virtually useless because the English (Chinglish) is so bad and that it makes programming without a PC a bit of a chore (but not impossible). A bit of advice: Buy yourself the programming cable. For $15 it is totally worth it and makes programming a breeze. Lastly, I did have one problem with the unit just last week. The transmit LED indicator went out. I contacted my vendor (DuplexCom of Ohio) who sold it to me and they had a brand new replacement unit to me in just four business days (door to door). Which leads to my final point: Choose a vendor who has good customer service like DuplexCom because you will not get much help from China! The product support is all up to your vendor so choose your vendor wisely. Also, your warranty is only 3 months. But in my case it worked out fine. The warranty covered everything except the shipping back to Ohio and I have a brand new unit which I am happy with. I have no regrets and am seriously considering ordering Wouxun's mobile transceiver that will be coming out in February. I think this radio is a steal.

Very nice, good signal reports, easy to use but programming from the HT keyboard is a bit laborious. The programming features are very flexible but that means you have to input many values for each channel. Software to program the HT from your PC is available for a free download from Wouxun. I found the correct driver for this radio, its usb_Vista09.exe. Even though it does not say Windows 7, it does work. Make sure the programming cable is FULLY inserted. Very nice HT for the money.

I purchased one of these from another vendor for about $130 shipped. I have used it for several months, including the collar mic, surveillance kits, multiple antennas, both as an amateur radio operator and in public safety. It works fine with good audio quality, but there are a few issues:

The radio's scan feature is crippled. If the radio is in scan, and you press the button to turn on the backlight, it stops scanning. If you press the button to turn on the LED, it stops scanning. If you try to lock the keypad, it stops scanning. If you want to change which channels are included in the scan, you have to reprogram it from a computer. You can't even use the dual VFO feature while in scan mode even though the second channel is still shown on the screen, it is never checked.

The radio itself has developed a problem. Under certain circumstances which aren't entirely clear, it will occasionally completely reset itself. I suspect this is due to a power connection issue inside the radio, but for something this cheap I'm not surprised. I'm probably going to replace it and use the broken one as a base station radio.

The belt clip, where it connects to the battery, is too tight. It takes serious effort to remove the belt clip. Which would be fine, except that it's also weak. The piece that actually fits in to the battery has broken on me, necessitating a replacement. In fact, all of the plastic pieces here are of significantly poorer quality than what you would get with, say, a Motorola.

I have used the longer antenna. It's too long to use in the field, but as a base antenna it works fine and does improve quality. While we're talking about antennas, on my original antenna the plastic piece has chipped, resulting in the actual antenna coming out of it at an angle. It still works, but yet another example of poor materials. The replacement antenna, the end cap fell off and got lost, so I had to cover it with gaffer's tape.

The surveillance earpiece works fine. The surveillance microphone does not. I am told that it results in a 'muffled' sound which is barely readable. The collar mic works fine.

I took a chance and I am glad I did. I've had this camera for maybe less then a month and so far so good. I got it because of the way people drive in my area and to say the least if an accident occurs it is usually a they say/you say scenario. This camera has already come in handy for me.

The one feature I really, really like about this camera is being able to turn the audio off. This makes it easy for the people riding with me to accept I have a camera in the car without them getting paranoid about our conversations being recorded. I also like being able to set the loop minutes, right now I have it set to 5 minutes which is plenty. I tried 11 minutes and I felt it was too long especially if I wanted to find a specific point on the video.

There was some quirky stuff that happened with it but that was at the beginning and they haven't happened since so I am going to chalk those up to growing pains.

I followed the directions about charging the battery for 12 hrs prior to use and letting it completely drain before recharging for the first 3 charges but the battery really can't hold a charge past 45 minutes. I just plug it into the lighter port anyways so losing power in the middle of a car ride doesn't happen. Another quirk I encountered was if I took the battery completely out of the camera unit and put it back in once or twice a day the camera started acting funny like not recording or turning on. I got the camera to work again by pulling the SD card out and putting it back in. So, I no longer take the battery out and I haven't had any problems since.

I am uploading a video with this review I've uploaded a video of the night vision on youtube search for Barrudaki it's on my channel under reviews. For the price it is a good camera, if you can live with the occasional quirk and try pulling the SD card when it does act up you can be happy with this camera. Not sure how to judge the night vision. I would say it is ok. If you encounter an issue try pulling the SD card out and reinserting it.

It records in .avi format which is good,it is compatible with other editing software I have.

**Update***

Not sure what is going on but looks like the seller changed the description of the dash cam. Not sure if they are selling the same model I have so just a heads up quality may defer.

I keep a dash cam running when ever I drive to catch those instant moments and it has already saved me a ticket from a crooked cop so when my dash cam died I purchased this one. I purchased another camera $10 cheaper and it lasted 4 months. Even though it looked IDENTICLE it was by far inferior. This one has a larger battery (5c rather than a 4c), it actually does have an HDMI output (the other said it did but did not), it feels heavier if that means anything (internal electronics?) it actually does accept a 32 gig memory card (says will accept up to 64 gig) where the other says it will accept up to a 32 gig does but will not. The menus seem more in-depth rather than something to seem like you have an operating system like the others. It is ever so slightly larger but maybe that is just my impression. It comes with many cords (HDMI adapter, audio/video adapter/power cord/PC USB cord where the other only comes with a power cord). Now, I just installed this camera to replace the other that died so I will be updating this review as the data changes for better or worse so stay tuned, but so far I am very impressed more so than the other when it first arrived.................... UPDATE: I discovered today, the first day of use that the display is much clearer and sharper in bright sun light then the other unit I had. Another impressive factor............ UPDATE: My unit stopped working after 5 days of use and after some diagnostics found the memory card failed. Also found that this unit does NOT accept 64 gig memory cards as it says. When my 32 gig memory card failed I purchased a 64 gig high quality and it would not accept it. I tried several others and still did not work so went back to a 32 gig and back in business. But also found that once I turn off the unit it will not turn back on till I cycle the power... WTF...That's cool, I want it to turn on and start recording when I start the engine. Final note: You may wish to give it a good over night charge before using it off the cycled power outlet otherwise you may have unpredictable issues on startup and shutdown in automatic mode. UPDATE: the auto cycle off when power loss has stopped working... no big deal... when I turn off the vehicle I can turn off the unit and when I start the vehicle it auto starts as its should.

I purchased two to cover the front and rear of my car. I purchased a 32GB SD card for each and after using both for a day one failed and would not accept the SD card then the other went too. I confirmed with the seller about the defective one and returned both. I cannot take chances with one not recording when it is absolutely necessary. I plan on investing in a more expensive and reliable unit through amazon.

One thing to note, once car drivers see the camera in the rear of the vehicle, it changes the way that they drive too and tailgaters start to back off.

Out of the box this camera looked good. Had all the right functions and the hardware appeared to be pretty solid. But, when I tried it in a vehicle it was disappointing. The picture was partially washed out most of the time and completely washed out a significant amount of the time.

I tried it in a few locations on the windshield thinking that it might have been random glaring but nothing worked. As long as I was driving on a shaded street it was almost ok, but just barely. On a street that was exposed to the sky, it was impossible to see anything.

I thought it might have been the screen on the camera so I transferred the files to my PC to confirm the quality. No difference! There was nothing I could do to make it useable.

The sample video is typical of the results I was getting. Audio quality was also just about useless. The camera was directly above a radio speaker and is barely audible.

This camera is returning to Amazon and I'll try something else. I wouldn't recommend taking a chance on this particular camera..

This product is great for maximum coverage while driving. It is high definition and they describe the product is exactly as it is. I was stunned when I played back the videos it recorded. Sound and picture were pristine. This is well worth your investment. I love mine!!

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (White)

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players
  • Product Type - FM Transmitter
  • - Memorize up to 4 FM frequencies
  • - Powers on and off automatically
  • - Features low-battery LED indicator
  • - Includes DC cable for optional battery-free operation - Only works with the Belkin Mobile Power Cord for 3G iPod

This thing has a range of about a foot, with really poor quality sound. It may be as good or better than other transmitters that are available, but it's still pretty lousy. Not really as good as standard FM, probably halfway between AM and FM, and interrupted by the occasional static. I modified it as described in the websites that describe how to do such things, but the sound is so crappy, that it's hardly worth the price. The modified range is about 50 feet.

I realize that it solves a problem of allowing an MP3 player to work in your car, and there aren't any good alternatives, but but this isn't going to make anyone really happy. It's just a barely passable solution. It does what it's supposed to, and if you modify it, it has much better range, but it's really not a great result.

UPDATE: I really wanted a product like this, so I bought the "whole house transmitter" right on Amazon and it works. Near FM quality sound, decent range (about 40 feet). It only broadcasts on one of 6 channels, but at least the quality is acceptable if you can find an open one, and it punches through weak stations so the channel doesn't really have to be completely clear. It's 3X the price, but that seems to be what it takes to get decent quality sound.

I live in a fairly large metropolitan area and many of the lower FM frequencies that would be available in smaller towns are filled here. That being said, it's difficult to find a frequency to tune into with the Tunecast II. The second problem is sound quality...it's not terrible but it's less than cd-quality sound. Third is the Tunecast II's monstrous appetite for AAA batteries. On one car trip (a total of 6 hours of driving) I changed batteries twice. The secondary problem with this battery hog is that it loses its programmed memory when it loses battery power, forcing you to reprogram the frequencies over and over again. Don't waste your money, I'll be returning mine to the store.

i purchased this product from the apple store for $40... the worst forty bucks i've ever spent! my friend and i were driving from houston to dallas, unfortunately my tape deck and cigarette lighter no longer works. i figured an 8 hour drive round trip with only the radio to listen to would be way too much torture so i dropped the forty bucks.

it took us at least ten minutes to find a station that it would play on without being interrupted... and every couple of hours we had to find a new station for it to play on. if the song playing on the nanowas too "soft" you would just hear staticor the weak signal being transmitted from the radio station. the ENTIRE time we used the transmitter with my nanowe had to keep moving both pieces aroundsort of like using bunny ears on a television set.

if i had been alone on this roadtripi most definately would have had a car accident trying to mess with the transmitter. it was frustrating enough just watching the passenger trying to mess around with it... not to mention having to move it around all the time to try and keep it from being staticy.

i haven't used the transmitter since that roadtripand don't plan on using it again. it's too much of a headache. i would never try and sell it on ebayi'd feel wayyyy too guilty about selling someone something that could potentially cause them to have a car accident. however i would very much like to have my forty bucks back!!!!

After reading numerous reviews about the poor quality this Belkin wireless FM transmitter provides, I was amazed to find out how well this product works after a few minutes of finding the best configuration for me and my Corolla.

Admittedly, the process was frustrating at first, because I expected instant gratification--just tune the radio and Belkin to any "clear" frequency and get static-free reception. So the day I bought the Belkin, I turned it on and drove 70 miles on the highway, and really thought the Belkin was crap. I was getting terrible reception and constant static listening to my tunes on my iPod despite switching frequencies every few minutes. But before chucking the Belkin for another product, the next day I read some of the positive reviews and then sat in my car with the mind to try to get the Belkin to work for me.

After trying almost every frequency from 88.1 to 107.9, I found that 92.3 FM is the clearest frequency to use. I also pushed down my antenna, so that I would hopefully continue to get clear reception. Now after a week of commuting 45 minutes daily from Silver Spring, MD to Arlington, VA and driving through DC often, I can honestly say that I have never experienced any static using the Belkin tuned into 92.3. I seriously had expected some fuzz, as radio stations from Baltimore to Annapolis to Richmond have infiltrated just about every channel in the DC metro area.

I also drove from DC to Charleston, SC along I-95, and the Belkin worked fabulously. I kept the radio tuned to 92.3 the entire time and never had a problem. The only occasional static I received was from momentarily flipping the turn signal and from the batteries losing life. The standard equipped batteries lasted about 7 or 8 hours, but the Energizer batteries I popped in lasted over 12 hours.

I have experienced a couple downsides to the Belkin, which for me are relatively minor. When I insert new batteries, the Belkin loses the frequency I set in its memory. As I prefer only one frequency, this really isn't such a problem. It would be nice if the Belkin came with a power cord that connects to the cigarette lighter like some of the other wireless FM transmitters available.

As for the sound quality, if I raise the iPod volume to 100%, I hear static, but setting it at 90% and my car stereo at 50% has worked well. Sometimes I have to turn up the volume on my car stereos, but I don't know if that's because some of the tracks I downloaded are of poorer quality.

All in all, this was a terrific buy for me. Basically, I'm technically-challenged, so the fact that I had to spend a few minutes fiddling with the frequencies to get a perfectly static-free reception was more than okay with me. The auto on/off feature comes in handy, because that's one less button to press when I'm plugging in my radio faceplate and iPod. I definitely plan to buy a power cord so that I don't need to insert anymore batteries, but in the meantime, I'm satisfied with 12+ hours of battery life. My suggestion to you: Give it a try. Take a few minutes to figure out what works best for you (frequency, antenna, etc.). Hopefully you'll have the same positive experience as me.

I just purchased one from Fry's Electronics few days ago and it is the HP version of the TuneCast II. (Same spec. and the only difference is the HP packaging) It was on sale for only $14.99 prior the CA tax. I figure it's worth to try since it is so darn cheap! Here is the verdict based on my usage in Bay Area, California.

Well, I do hear lots of static just like people here who gave 1 or 2 stars in Amazon review no matter how I tune it to different frequency or FM channels. BUT... there is one easy way to make the Tunecast works the way it suppose to be and it is very easy.

Then I got back home and google the subject of "modify TuneCast II" and I found out some people has already found a way to improve the transmitter by adding a piece of speaker wire.

Well, instead of buying a new speaker wire which cost maybe another 5~10 bucks, I just decided to try out with my old mobile earplug. I cut out the earplug's connector and carefully remove the plastic shield to reveal the copper wires for approximately 1~2 inches then taped that copper metal wire into the TuneCast circuit board. Please follow the jiggybyte instruction. It is the first search result if you google "modify TuneCast II"

The bottom line: Do not buy this product if you are not willing to mod this tunecast because its original antenna is very weak for transmitting the signals. If you think you can mod it, then this TuneCast is made for you. I like mine very much after the modding.

Samlex PST- 150S -12A 1500 Watt DC/AC Pure Sine Wave Inverter - 12V

Samlex PST- 150S -12A 1500 Watt DC/AC Pure Sine Wave Inverter - 12V
  • Protection systems include input low voltage, input over voltage, over temperature, overload, and short circuit.
  • Low idle power draw
  • Comes with pin-type battery cable lugs
  • Low battery voltage alarm and system shut down
  • Built-in electronic GFCI plus two temperature controlled cooling fans.

I have had several inverters over the years, and the Samlex PST150S -12A 1500 Watt DC/AC Pure Sine Wave Inverter takes the cake. Not only was it economical for a 1500W pure sinewave inverter, but I have used it heavily every day for a year (It hasn't been turned off at all in fact) using 15A powertools, charging everything I can get my hands on, 52" Sony TV with subwoofer and surround sound, Nintendo Wi, large refridgerator and freezer for several hours a day, 1500W oil filled space heater, lights, 2 laptops, toaster, 1400W microwave, blender etc. In fact I am writing this review using solar power via the Samlex inverter.

Important to know-

*The inverter fan is quite noisy, but I went my first 2 months never hearing it. It seems to only kick-in when you run a product that consumes more than 600W for more than 30 minutes, even then its intermittent.

*The positive and negative connection points from the battery are smaller than I would expect. They appear to support up to a 2 AWG wire, but not bigger than that. This shouldn't be a problem however since 2 AWG should be big enough for the maximum amperage this product can supply without turning off.

*Some "Pure-Sine" inverters produce a buzzing noise or interference when used with certain products with tv or radio signals, interfere with cell phone signals, or cause brushed tools to run "funny" this one doesn't. In my opinion, it is the purest power you can get, probably better than the electrical grid supplies.

I would recommend this inverter to my friends and family (And have several times)

Update 4-29-13

I have now had this unit for 3 years and it is still going strong. Still no problems, no signs of weakness, and unless its abused I can't see this ever refusing to do what you ask it to do. The list of things I have now used this for are endless. In conjunction with my 410w of solar and 4 deep cycle batteries it has done everything from provide power to my daily uses like run my laptop and tv, to run my coffee maker and everything else during 2 day power outages.

In short, I have asked this 1500W inverter to do more than most people would ask it to do over the past 3 years and it has yet to fail me or show any signs of weakness. It still produces clean, reliable power... All at what still appears to be quite a bit cheaper than the competitors... I had never heard of Samlex prior to this purchase and due to my experience with this unit, they have my product loyalty which is a hard thing to achieve.

Buy Samlex PST- 150S -12A 1500 Watt DC/AC Pure Sine Wave Inverter - 12V Now

I have owned several different sign wave inverters in the past 15 years, so I was real happy to find this unit to be so rock solid. Even at 100 degrees in the store house where it is mounted, this unit pumps out the power. Use it every day with my computer, TV, lamps and more. This is the best unit I have ever owned. I recommenced this unit to anyone investing in solar and wind power.

Kindle Fire PowerBolt Duo USB Car Charger with USB Cable by Kensington

Kindle Fire PowerBolt Duo USB Car Charger with USB Cable by KensingtonKensington makes excellent products. This Powerbolt Duo car charger is no exception. This Kensington car charger is good for charging the Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire, and it comes with a micro USB cable for the Fire, but it costs $30.

The Kindle Fire requires an electrical charging current of 1.8 A (1800 mA), so only chargers meeting current output of more than 1.8 A can charge it in reasonable amount of time. Many chargers on the market have output current of 2.1A. Make sure you see this specification on the product page. Kensington, Skiva, and Scosche all make car chargers that meet the 2.1 A requirement but are much more expensive.

The least expensive is by AmazonBasics, under $10.

AmazonBasics 2-Port USB Car Charger with 2.1 Amp Output (Black)

You also need a micro USB cable (for charging and data transfer):

AmazonBasics USB Cable 2.0 A Male to Micro B (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters), $6

This is the kind of cable (USB 2.0 on one end and micro USB on the other) that some reviewers were saying that Amazon should have included in the Fire box. It is used for charging if the connection is between the Fire and a USB charger, or copying files from your computer to the Fire and vice versa, if the connection is between the Fire and your computer.

This charger has two USB ports that share the 2100 mA output, so if you want fast charging, use just one port to charge the Fire/iPad, and leave the other not used by anything else.

This combo costs $16, about half the cost of the Kensignton.

I would only recommend the Kensington if you want to charge the Fire or iPad AND another USB device that consumes less than 1.0 A SIMULTANEOUSLY and don't want to sacrifice charging time. Physically, the Kensington is smaller and also well-made.

The other two reviews don't say much of anything other than negative stuff so I am going to tell you about the good stuff. I ordered this for my first Kindle. No it is not black like the picture or at least mine is not. Mine is white. It does work nicely when I have been in a crunch to charge my Kindle while traveling in the car. No it's nothing fancy that needs to cost a ton of money! Amazon has provided a good product for charging the Kindle. I hope this helps anyone they may want to purchase. It really does work!

Love this charger. Now I don't have to worry about not being able to charge up my Kindle Fire. This fits any standard car plug (former cigarettte lighter) and it even piggy backs a similar product since the plug has two ports.

With my Kindle Fire, the more I learn how to use its extensive capabilities, the more I find use for a package of accessories, like the USB connector. I have transferred files from my laptop in a flash. Then there is the car recharger. Now I can go anywhere and keep my Fire ready for reading ebooks or for checking email as well as the entire web. Good accessories. I also recommend a good quality cover to protect the glass in a Fire or any other portable device, and on the Fire, earbuds bring the music or the sound in a movie to you clearly without disturbing others.
