Sunforce 52022 5 Watt Solar Trickle Charger - Pack of 2

Sunforce 52022 5 Watt Solar Trickle Charger - Pack of 2I purchased these solar trickle chargers all winter. I park my trailer at the storage facility for the winter. My batteries always drain down to nothing. I got these so try and see if I could keep my batteries from draining down to nothing. I built a small little angled mount for them using wood so I could remove it when I was not using them. I put the unit on the roof and made sure my batteries were fully changed first. I left the solar panels on the top of the trailer. I checked the trailer twice a month I checked the trailer and the batteies stayed charged up all winter. Good little units. Will not charge your battey it will maintain a charge.

Since I have several ancillary devices connected to the car's (2007 Ford Taurus) electrical system, there is always a trickle load on the battery. There is a ham radio that uses backup power when off, a GPS that trickle charges even when fully charged, and a GPS receiver that runs 100% of the time. The load is not a lot, but I wouldn't leave this stuff connected for a week without driving the car. These devices do load the battery enough that on long cold winter nights, the battery starts drooping significantly. For this reason, I looked at the charger panel(s), and after reading the reviews decided they would work perfectly in minimizing the impact of all these extra devices sitting in standby all afternoon and overnight. The combination of using the panel all day while inside at work, and from 4 p.m. throughout the night has worked out very well.

I'm only using one panel, the other is for a gift.

A few notes to clear up some confusion that I noted while reading the reviews:

1. The maximum output of 350 ma at 14 volts (loaded) is NOT enough to damage any lead acid battery (car/motorcycle/lawn tractor). Yes, unloaded the panel will put out 22 volts. That means absolutely nothing. As long as it sees a 12 v battery as a load, its output will drop into the 14 plus range, which is EXACTLY what a 12v battery should be seeing from a charging circuit, so no regulator is required (or even desirable) when charging auto/motorcycle batteries.

2. The panel will not discharge a connected battery, period. There is a blocking diode in the panel's wiring that prevents current flowing from the battery to the panel. If your panel is discharging your battery, then the blocking diode has failed (it is shorted). One possible, and I'm afraid all too common reason for this failure is having the panel connected when you start your car. VERY BAD IDEA. The instructions clearly state that one should not have the panel connected while the car is running. If the panel is connected when the vehicle is starting, very large voltage spikes are present on the 12v line and the blocking diode in the panel sees these spikes and may not be rated to stand up to them. The result: the diode shorts, and this allows the battery to send current to the panel overnight....all night.

3. As far as charging smaller (lower capacity) 12v batteries or battery packs, some caution needs to be observed. Nickel Cadmium (NICAD) or Nickle Metal Hydride (NIMH) batteries can be safely charged on a continuous basis at a rate of 0.10 X AMP HOUR RATING of the battery. For example: a 12 volt battery pack made of 2500 maH rated batteries can be charged continually at 250 maH. An 1800 maH rated pack of cells can only be safely charged continually at 180 maH. Since these panels put out 350 ma, neither of these batteries can be safely charged on a continual basis. This is where the charge controllers come in to play.

CONSTRUCTION:

The panels are quite well constructed and arrived properly packed. The supplied wire length with cig plug pigtail was long enough to go from the back window to the front accessory plug. Since the panels were provided with 4 screws for mounting, I bought some 1/4 inch plywood (cut to 1/2 inch larger around than the panel by our local lumber yard), and screwed the panel onto the plywood with rubber grommets as spacers/shock absorbers. I also bought some "gripper" feet at the local Wally World (hardware section furniture slider area), and put them on the plywood bottom to help prevent it from sliding around. The panels are clearly labeled "this side down", so it is impossible to mount them the wrong way!

PERFORMANCE:

Since putting the panel on, the rate of decay of the battery in the face of the loading of my devices, has decreased markedly. I have a digital voltmeter on the system and can see that in the morning the battery voltage is not as low as it had been prior to putting on the panel. It won't charge a dead battery, it won't make up for a significant current drain on your car battery. It will prevent a dramatic sag in battery voltage as a result of your car's microprocessor and alarm system running all night, as well as take care of a few auxiliary devices in the battery backup mode (maintaining memory of channels, for example). If your vehicle needs to sit long periods of time without running, these panels are a perfect solution, as long as you have access to sunlight. I measured the panel output at 21 volts on a fully overcast, but bright skied day, sitting in the back window of my car.

CAVEAT:

I have one concern about these panels. On a 30 degree day in full sunlight the panel became surprisingly warm to the touch, considerably warmer than the dash I had it sitting on. I'm not sure how things are going to work or how I'm going to deal with how hot they may get in full sunlight on a 90 degree Iowa summer day. At this point, it appears I have a month or two to ponder this issue. It certainly makes no sense if you can't put a solar panel in your car, (because it might get damaaged by excessive heat), when it is sold as a car charger.

Summary:

For the price and my purpose, this panel appears to be an excellent solution. Properly used and mounted, and with certain precautions taken, I would recommend this panel to anyone needing a 12v TRICKLE charging solution, where a charge controller is not needed (lead acid car/motorcycle/lawn tractor batteries).

They work great, but it would be good if an LED indicator was on these so one can verify there is traveling current, or not.

These things rock! I bought a pack and connected them to my ATVs and now they are always ready to go! One thing to take note of, though, is be careful not to switch the polarity if you use an extension cable!! I can say that from experience... Batteries aren't cheap either.

Go Power! GP-SW1500-12 1500-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter

Go Power! GP-SW1500-12 1500-Watt Pure Sine Wave InverterI have bought two other brands that have failed. One never did work and I was still charged 20% to return it! I did some research and found the Go Power to be backed by a serious company. After over two years of continuous operation, 24/7/365, it has delivered quality power to my three computers, scanner, laser printer, DVR, satellite controllers, speakers, wave radio, well, you get the picture. Don't mess around with a cheaper product, you'll end up paying more in the long run. With what I know now, I would pay the $950 list price.

I'm a mobile DJ and bought this inverter to power my 4000 watt PA/Lighting system. It replaced a modified sine wave unit that was noisy (static) through the speakers. This unit is completely quiet and actually provides cleaner power then my mains service. It works very well and doesn't seem to break a sweat running the PA and lighting system also powering a laptop, mixer and effects rack. It is light weight and feels very sturdy. All of the connections are good and will accommodate 4ga battery cables. I also like the separate voltage and capacity displays to give me an idea of how much time remains.

Buy Go Power! GP-SW1500-12 1500-Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter Now

This was a real plug and play unit for me since I waws bypassing a modified sine wave inverter. Very solidly built.

The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is there's nothing more than bar readouts for load and voltage and I prefer meters or digital readouts.

Three plus months in operation and I have yet to see any issues.

If needed, I would defintley buy another of these.

I would not buy this brand again, based on my bad experience. However, I bought mine back in 2003, so perhaps the bugs in this model have been worked out by now.

I would've given it 2 stars, but it did get me through Hurricane Sandy by powering my 2 refrigerators (its first emergency use), so I'm thankful enough that I'm giving it 3 stars despite its bugs. Mine does not work correctly in all modes, doesn't work the way the instructions said it should work.

I found some workarounds, but they're complicated, so I had to write my own instructions and tape them to the inverter -I'm pasting them below:

A) Without remote control installed:

Problem: Inverter does not work correctly with low power loads, like a transistor radio, whether or not it's in power saving mode.

1) With power saving mode enabled, it would work for about 30 seconds or so, then turn off, when attached to low-power loads like radios.

2) Even when the power-saving mode is disabled, it still acts as if it's in power-saving mode(!): it stays on for 30 seconds or so, then turns off (at least for about 10 seconds, then I think it went back on again by itself for another 30 seconds or so, but Corina thinks it stayed off), when attached to low-power loads like radios.

Cases where it works correctly: It seems to work okay only for high-power loads, over 100 watts, even with power-saving mode enabled. I've used it successfully for my electric drill and my weed-wacker-type Toro trimmer, and it takes a few seconds to come on but it works.

B) With remote control installed:

Problem: inverter does not work correctly in power-saving mode (even though I set the dip switches as instructed, five six and seven off). When put into power saving mode using remote (hold down button for 5 seconds until green light comes on remote), inverter acts up like it did without the remote control when power-saving mode was disabled (A2 above): it stays on for 30 seconds or so (green light solid on remote and inverter), then turns off for a few seconds (green light off for a few seconds on remote and inverter), then turns back on again (and turns on again even without any load attached!)

Cases where it works correctly:

When using remote, it works fine with power-saving mode disabled using the remote (orange light solid for inverter on, orange light flashing for inverter off). Turn the inverter on and off (keeping power-saving disabled) by one press on the remote button.

Summary and tips:

Without remote, works only for high-power loads (like drills, trimmer, etc.), regardless of whether inverter is in power saving mode or not.

With remote, works only with power-saving disabled (orange light on for inverter on, orange light flashing for inverter off).

If I need power-saving mode: disconnect remote, and use only high-power loads.

If I need to use low-power loads (like CF lights or small radios): keep remote connected, with power-saving disabled (orange light), and then switch the remote on by a short push (orange light turns solid).

Husky Liners Custom Fit Front and Second Seat Floor Liner Set for Select Ford/Mazda/Mercury Models

Husky Liners Custom Fit Front and Second Seat Floor Liner Set for Select Ford/Mazda/Mercury ModelsI was logged on to Amazon and was browsing for accessories for my new Mercury Mariner when I ran across this listing for these Husky liners that were in the warehouse and available for less than half price (may be returns?). They are great, fit perfectly, are attractive and do there job of keeping the carpets clean. when you get snow, mud or sand in the liners all you have to do is pull them out, dump them and rinse them off and put them back. I looked at other liners but was not willing to pay $200 $300. These are great for less than $50.

I highly reccomend this for anyone who has a Mazda Tribute. Just like it says it fits perfectly and covers all the carpet to protect that. I'm buying the cargo cover next. Thanks again.!!

Bought this as a replacement for the car charger that came with my Nuvi. This charger puts my Nuvi 360 into mass storage mode which makes it totally unusable while in the car. Tested this cord with another Nuvi 360 and a working Garmen car charger with my Nuvi 360, isolated the problem to this charger. Wasted my money.

At first I loved this cord because unlike the confounded Garmin one, this one had the coiled cord and was therefore much tamer. However, the usb cable shield stripped right off one day thru normal use so had to trash it. Would rather by thrice that amount and get something that works than waste my money and time.

this is a great deal! was shipped fast! very very very cheap! and it is working. can you ask for more?

WouXun KG-UVD1P 136-174/420-520 MHz Dual Band Handheld Two-way Radio + Wouxun Walkie Talkie Remote

WouXun KG-UVD1P 136-174/420-520 MHz Dual Band Handheld Two-way Radio + Wouxun Walkie Talkie Remote Speaker Microphone + USB Programming Cable for Baofeng UV-5R/ Wouxun UVd1P/ UV6D Two Way Radio
  • Handheld Two-way Radio with Dual band Dual frequency Dual display Dual standby
  • Dual Band, Dual Frequency, Dual Display and Dual Standby
  • VHF&UHF, UHF&UHF or VHF&VHF working modes

Can't beat it for the price. Well built. Covers large bandwidth.Tons of features. Great audio. I get great reports from others and I like the sound of others who have this unit. Came with lapel mic and hand mic. One downside is that the manual is NOT written for a beginner to amateur radio. The manual simply explains what the menus are and what the options are for each menu. There is not discussion about what the menu item is used for or why one needs it. Search the web for alternate Wouxun programming instructions.

Beginners will almost certainly need to get on a local repeater to meet and talk with others (unless you alreayd have a friend locally you can talk to). Remember this... Frequency mode is your sandbox. Channel mode is your storage. For beginners:

Search the Internet for a repeater in your area. Get the receive frequency, and teh PL tone frequency and offset direction. Common references to repeaters are like this: 146.300 + PL 107.2. Offset for the 144 mhz range (2 meter band) is typically 600khz and very often in the up direction (+). Offset for 440mhz range (70 cm band) is typically 5mhz and often down (-).

Put the radio in Frequency Mode.

Tune to the receive frequency (e.g. 146.300). You may be able to hear people on the repeater.

Use the menus to set the offset to 0.600 for 144mhz range or 5.000 for the 440 range.

Use the menus to set the frequency direction to + or depending on the repeater reference.

Use the menus to set the PL tone (e.g. 107.2)

Press the push-to-talk button and annouce yourself. You should hear the repeater reply to you and hold a carrier open after you release the push-to-talk button.

At this point make sure things are working. Now use the menus to save the settings you have as a channel.

Repeat this "get things working in frequency mode then save what you have as a channel" method for any frequencies or repeaters you may want to use.

In channel mode you can tune in all the channels you have saved. Your channel numbers are for your reference. Unlike CB radio and marine radio, amateur radio does not have universally assigned channels. If you save 162.400 mhz as channel 1 then for you channel 1 is the weather. Someone else may have a different frequency as their channel 1.

Goal Zero 11004 Sherpa 50 Silver Portable Recharger

Goal Zero 11004 Sherpa 50 Silver Portable RechargerI purchased the Sherpa 50 to charge my iPhone and iPad 3 while camping. When fully charged it will charge up the iPad once from a near fully depleted iPad battery, or give 2 charges from 50%, in my experience (YMMV)

The Goal Zero system uses their own connectors which work nicely between their batteries, chargers, and solar panels. Since I already own the Sunlinq 12w and 25w panels, I needed to splice my own connectors to make these work together. I bought the Goal Zero 6' 8mm input cable extension and spliced a connector for the Sunlinq. I was able to charge the Sherpa 50 in about 4 hours from 60% to a full charge while the Sunlink 25w panel was in full sun. It would be easier (and maybe quicker) to use the Goal Zero panels, but I already own the Sunlinq.

Overall I am very pleased with the Sherpa 50; this is a well made high quality unit. My only criticism, is that the 8mm extension cord did not fit the Sherpa. I contacted customer service and they responded the next day, acknowledging the problem and recommending a fix (shave 1/8" off of the plastic connector barrel), which worked perfectly.

I use this on all my trips. When I am not using it with the solar panels, I plug it into my car adapter. Ironically my nexus 7 doesn't charge well with a car adapter, but charges fine with this bad boy.

I paid less than $1 plus shipping for this charger for my Philips GoGear MP3 player. I tried it and it worked fine. Put it in the wall socket connected it to the MP3 player and went to bed. A small led red light lights up on the charger while charging. Next morning MP3 player fully charged.

Now I don't have to plug my MP3 player into my laptop for the MP3 player to be charged.I take the charger to work. If the MP3 player charge getting low I just plug the charger and the MP3 player in.

At the big box stores a separate charger for a MP3 player usually cost from $10 to $20. It was great getting a charger for less than $4 ( includes shipping) with no tax. How can you beat it? Totally happy with this home wall travel AC charger. 5 stars.

Husky Liners Custom Fit Second Seat Floor Liner for Toyota RAV4 for Select Toyota RAV4 Models (Tan)

Husky Liners Custom Fit Second Seat Floor Liner for Toyota RAV4 for Select Toyota RAV4 ModelsHuskey Liners are the way to go for any vehicle to inhance the look and to keep your carpet cleanand looking new.Just as described perfect fit and no problems with slipping or moving

These Husky Second Row Seat Car Floor Liners really do an excellent job. THey cover a lot of nooks and crannies that the other car mats and liners don't cover and that is why I got them. The quality is excellent. I just wish they had a bit more traction, but I ended up purchasing a Kraco Rubber FLoor Liner with deep traction and placed it on top of the Husky Liner and it works perfectly and is a perfect match in color.... That way, the snow and mud off the shoes will get trapped more easily in the grooves of the Kraco mat and not shift around the Husky liner, and thus will help keep the floor and shoes even cleaner. I love the way the rear liner covers the hump in the middle and even goes under the front seats some and cradles the second row seat hardware on the floor.

( $92.00), so I found a liner for my car model made in China for $38.00 which got really good reviews and does the job for much less. I wish China would make some Husky -type liners at a more reasonable cost than Husky is asking.

If it weren't for the enormous high price for a piece of molded rubber that does not cost that much to mass produce and does not take a rocket scientist to invent, I would have given it 5 stars.

Hopkins BC0820PDQ High Power Booster Cable Set

Hopkins BC0820PDQ High Power Booster Cable SetI purchased this item to replace one I gave to my grandson. I rate this item very good. The terminal ends clamp for a positive connection.

The most important part of a set of jumper cables is their ability to hold onto a battery terminal. I don't have five hands to hold each in place while I start the car.

The "cinch-lock" feature of the clamp sounds awesome but it absolutely sucks in real life, regardless of what the marketing material says. The tiny bit of gap between the steps when tightening it down are more than enough for the clamp to slip off the terminal no problem.

100% buy something that is the normal style, spring loaded or whatever. These are terrible. I would give it two stars because it works, but the design flaw is huge and I wish I hadn't spent any money on them.

I installed it in my Harley Softail. The temps are in the 30's now and I knew it was going to be a hard start. The website video said that the battery warms up after first attempt starting. After the 3rd attempt the bike started with ease. The battery is also a third smaller than my old lead battery which is great because I now have room in the battery well to put the power commander III module and the led module. This battery can be charged with a regular charger, but I am using the recommended Ballistic charger to balance the cells.

I bought this battery for my 2001 Suzuki TL1000R and just installed it this afternoon. Prior to this, I had been running a 140CCA generic battery by Energizer that would die from time to time if I didn't start the bike weekly, or if I had more than two or three starts in a row audibly weakening until only the starter would click. Thankfully this only happened at home...

Enter the EVO2 12-cell with 440CCA. I installed it this afternoon, it was pretty simple. The battery will surprise you with how light it is, and it's pretty small to boot takes up about 3/4-3/5ths of the space of the old one. The remaining space in the battery box can easily be filled in using the sturdy black packing... foam(?) surrounding the Ballistic when you receive it. Measure it up, cut it with a razor to fit your battery box done. It took about 10 minutes.

The best part is when I turned the key. I've never, ever heard my bike so anxious to kick over (v-twins are hard on batteries). I should have done this a long, long time ago.

I will note that the 8-cell battery is what is specified on the Ballistic website for my bike, however the enthusiast forums I'm on recommended that if you have the money, go for the 12-cell. I saw the higher CCAs and was sold. Be sure to check the dimensions of your battery box if you consider this, as well as the output, etc.

Excellent product. Should have done this sooner. Easily the best reliability mod I've made to the bike, I will never worry about it leaving me stranded ever again. Thank you Ballistic!!!

This is a very good battery for 4 wheelers and jet-ski's. I will order this battery for all my toys. I usually don't give items a 5 but this one deserves it.

PAC AAI-KENW Auxiliary Audio Input RCA Cable

PAC AAI-KENW Auxiliary Audio Input RCA CableNo complaints here, works as advertised, been using for several months. Great sound, clean installation, would buy again in a second.

Great product! Exactly what I needed to easily connect my iPhone to my Kenwood head unit in the car. No mess, no crazy things you have to do, just plug it in, put the Kenwood on AUX and your iPhone/iPod goes thru the car stereo. Great price as well, can loose with this product.

I have an 06 Tiburon with a Kenwood ez500 stereo headunit and this product is exactly what I've been searching for for over a month. I almost resorted to buying an iSimple from BestBuy because I could not find any way to hook my iPod up to my stereo in my 2006 Hyundai Tiburon. This may have been the best $11 I've ever spent. Instead of buying a new stereo headunit or installing a $140 iSimple into my car I found the easiest and cheapest resort to all my problems.

In case you are also trying to use an aux port for your car.

1. Buy this product

2. Buy a 3.5mm to RCA stereo female cable

3. Buy an aux cable for your iPod or iPhone

The settings will come up automatically for the aux input on the headunit. You're good to go. In order to try to make it look professional I'm going to drill a hole in the plastic frame that says "Tiburon" below my headunit and stick the aux input through.

Don't hesitate! Buy this it works!

Wagan EL2200 Elite 180 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter

Wagan EL2200 Elite 180 Watt Pure Sine Wave InverterI researched the plethora of inverters on the market, and I finally decided that a pure-sine inverter was the best way to protect my MacBook Pro while I charge the battery in the car. Considering that the power adapter on my MacBook Pro is 60 watts, I felt confident that a 180-watt pure-sine inverter would be able to handle the electrical duties. I couldn't have been more wrong. Even though this Wagan inverter should be able to handle electrical devices of three times the wattage that my MacBook requires, it was unable to generate enough power to charge my laptop.

I tested the inverter with the 45-watt power adapter from my wife's MacBook Air, and the inverter WAS able to power that computer. I then tried to charge my mobile phone, and again, the inverter worked...for a short while.

Despite the very low power requirements to charge my mobile phone, the Wagan inverter started SMOKING excessively and emitted the most putrid odor--like someone was attempting to char-broil a skunk.

Needless to say, I immediately disconnected the inverter and have deemed the device a total FAILURE.

As I said in my title, the thing is a WORTHLESS, SMOKING PILE.

My disappointment in this device starts with the difficult to open clamshell packaging. Once open, the inverter felt very light and cheaply constructed. The end caps feel as though they are made with a very low grade plastic. When I plugged this device into a 12V connector in my vehicle, nothing happened. I assumed this was because the plug wasn't fully inserted. I tried the plug in five different 12V outlets several times and it just wouldn't work. On my final attempt, the little green light on the device finally illuminated. I began to smell something burning, and smoke started pouring out of the back of the inverter. I guess I could give it two stars because the ten seconds it was plugged in it did charge my phone properly. I did not get an opportunity to try the outlet. I should have listened to the bad reviews on this site.

This unit borders on being barely useful for powering my notebook computer while traveling. On road trips with my wife, the passenger pretty much stays on the computer -previewing traffic, finding good restaurants, and checking e-mail. As long as we are driving on the interstate, all is well. However if I come to a stop and the engine goes to idle, the unit alarms and then shuts down. It is a complete shutdown from which it does not automatically recover. You have to reach back and push the power button when in motion again. My prior inverters at least would come alive again when the supply voltage from the vehicle rose once the engine RPMs increased again.

Further, the 12 V cable was improperly soldered. I had to disassemble it and re-solder the wire to the tip connector. Further, the tip did not fit securely in the jack therefore I was concerned that it could come out and the hot side short to ground potentially blowing fuses in my vehicle. This required a little bit of hot-melt glue to secure it. Not a huge deal, but I should not have to repair Manufacturing defects before I put an item into use. I repaired it myself because I could do that far faster than the act of boxing it, generating a label, and shipping it back. Now if you are not comfortable with soldering of electrical connections, you may have more extensive issues.

I am currently in search of a modified-sine inverter that does not have such bad behavior.

I purchased this inverter with the intention of powering my macbook and other sensitive electronic devices in my travel trailer. The first thing I noticed when opening the package was that the dc power supply cord could easily be hooked up backwards, thus frying the unit and voiding the warrantee by the way. This is a ridiculous design flaw and strike one. Once powered up I noticed the fan was very loud and the unit had a large of amount of vibration due to the poor quality fan. Strike two. Then when I plugged in the power supply for the macbook the touch pad acted erratically. Strike three. I also noted lots of noise on the DC circuit as my HF radio was making a ton of racket. The power supply for the macbook only draws 60 watts and I had 13 volts available so I am confident it was not my system causing the poor performance.

Device was defective and non-functional on arrival. Green status led came on, however output power was approximately two volts AC. Returning the unit this week and will make sure to get a different brand.
