iOttie Easy One Touch XL Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2

iOttie Easy One Touch XL Windshield Dashboard Car Mount Holder for Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2My main concern when purchasing was that it would not work with the OtterBox. I can place the phone in the mount with the OtterBox Defender case on it. You just about have to pry it to get the phone in and out. The quick release doesn't really work since it is so tight in the mount. I really don't have an issue with that just wanted to let others know how it works with the OtterBox case.

I got this because it specifically mentioned compatibility with my new Galaxy S3. I would love to be able to keep it but the side bars are directly over the power and volume toggles so every time I put the phone it it turns my audio all the down. I will be returning it and can't recommend it for anyone who has a Galaxy S3

UPDATE: I received a call from iOttie the same day I placed my original one star review. I discussed my issue with the design and the product being sold for the S3. They not only sent me a new mount which worked with my phone they took the Galaxy S3 off the product description. I can only hope that a company as responsive and capable as this experiences tremendous success. My ne mount works great. It is well constructed, well designed and sticks to my dashboard like it is welded to it.

Love this thing!! I use it in my work truck(2012 Ford F250), it mounted easily to the dash, the suction cup holds like a bulldog on a bone!! I use it with my Galaxy Note 2, and even with it in the Seidio case it fits and holds perfectly. I mounted it on the dash about a month ago, and it has been plug and play ever since, never once has it offered to come loose, or has it dropped my phone. This fact is even more impressive when you factor in that about 60% of my time is spent on oilfield roads(very rough dirt roads). Will buy another for spare, seems like when you find something good that works it goes obsolete way to fast!

I use this for my Galaxy Note, and it holds onto it great. Sticks to the windshield and doesn't move, and the one-tap feature is great for one handed releasing and inserting of the phone.

Cobra Walkie-Talkie microTalk CXR925 35-Mile 22-Channel Two-Way Radio

Cobra Walkie-Talkie microTalk CXR925 35-Mile 22-Channel Two-Way Radio
  • 35 Mile Range, 22 Channels & 142 Privacy Codes
  • 10 Channel NOAA Radio
  • Rewind-Say-Again Digital Voice Recorder
  • 2 Rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries with desk charger
  • Lead-Free Packaging

I recently bought a pair of these Cobra MicroTalk CXR925 two-way radios to use as 'test' replacement radios for our 6.5 acre, 4 building mini-campus (mostly we purchased based on various strong customer reviews and the longer charge life of lithium batteries, which we need for a full 8 Hr workday's usage.) Five years ago, we purchased several pairs of earlier Cobra MicroTalk LI 6000 WX two-way radios, which were perfect for our facilities; they are durable, and perform wonderfully for our day-to-day staff operations purposes. Unfortunately, a couple of them have begun to fail due to almost 5 years of hard, daily usage and normal wear and tear ... but they were a great investment during their working lives and some are still working like champs. Disappointingly, our 2 newer and more expensive 'test' Cobra MicroTalk CXR925 replacements have proven to be an unsuccessful replacement of our older Cobra LI 6000 WX models. The only problem (but a major one) is that at the highest volume setting of '8' on these CXR925s, these 2 new radios are barely audible and my maintenance and janitorial employees have complained that they often have to place the units right up to their ears to clearly hear transmissions. We now only use these 2 newer CXR925 units with office personnel and with earpieces. Wish Cobra still made the LI 6000 WX model.

IMPORTANT REVIEW NOTE / CUSTOMER FOLLOW-UP FOR THE ABOVE REVIEW: This is a follow-up to the above review by the myself, the author. I sent the above mentioned 2 radios back to Cobra's factory repair services per instructions from their repair department shortly after writing this review. Within a couple of weeks, my 2 radios (the same ones I sent back) were returned to me and the previous volume issue with both units was completely corrected. Both units are now working perfectly and at volume levels that are more than acceptable. Great customer support!

THANKS COBRA for standing behind your product and repairing these radios to my satisfaction!

I received these in the mail yesterday, and charged them overnight. The next day I was a little skeptical whether or not they would function properly. They both work perfectly, and the sound quality is great. It is also nice because the radios have just the right amount of functions. You can get done what you need to, withought being dragged down by an insane amount of worthless functions. I tested them today and I was able to get a mile and a half range out of them while I was in my house and my sister was in a car. We were both in a city and it was rainy (I actually don't know if rain would affect it). On the box Cobra states that you can get 35 miles on a mountain (with perfect conditions), 17 miles in a forest, and 3 miles in a city. Overall this is definetaly worth its price. Great buy.

Pros

lightweight (can be a con)

VOX works well

Just the right amount of functions

Sound quality is good

Comes with rechargeable lithium batteries

1 year warranty on the radios

Cons

You don't have these amazing walkie talkies

We are so impressed with these radios that we bought a second set -the clarity of the voices is so much better than the old Magnavox radios we had before. We got these primarily to go skiing with so the family can stay in touch. We haven't had a chance to use them for that, but we have tried them out. My husband drove down our road approx 2 miles from the house and we had no problem hearing each other. They are easy to use. We predict these will work great in the mountains skiing.

Want Cobra Walkie-Talkie microTalk CXR925 35-Mile 22-Channel Two-Way Radio Discount?

These were purchased to replace a pair of Motorola radios, mainly because of the rewind feature and the longer battery life. With out car club, we always carry radios when we are meet up for a run so we can communicate between cars and keep the group together. These radios work GREAT for that! As more and more people start using these radios, we are trying to put one or more of them at either end of the group as the range for these radios will allow conversations back and forth. The rewind feature is awesome to have because you can be focused on driving and the navigator can just hit rewind to hear what you missed.

The only negative that I can report is that the quality control from Cobra seems to be a little lacking. We are the fourth couple to buy a set of these radios and 3 out of 4 pairs came with a defective radio (2) or a defective battery (1). Amazon and/or Cobra have both been very responsive in providing replacements so the issue is partially mitigated. We still recommend these radios to friends and we are 100% happy with the performance, charging, battery life and overall user friendly features of the radios.

Had a few radios over the years (Motorola, Uniden) and recently tried the Cobra CXR825 and Motorola MR350, both good but I returned them after a friend showed me his Cobra CXR925 that I proceeded to order on Amazon, why ?

CXR925 compared to CXR825 :

---------------------------

much better battery life, battery capacity almost 2x (could still use a battery meter, right now it only shows when the battery is going...)

thinner, the CXR825 is a bit "thick"

the 20 second voice recorder is useful, especially when reception is spotty

(slightly) better range, possibly due to the (slightly) taller antenna

CXR925 compared to Motorola MR350:

---------------------------------

More compact

Better battery life, CXR925 is 1500mAh Li-Ion, Motorola is NiMH 800mAh (?)

(slightly) better range

the 20 second voice recorder is useful, especially when reception is spotty

no LED light, that could have been handy from time to time

CXR925 would have earned 5 stars if :

real battery meter, not just low bat alarm

some weather resistance, top of antenna is already a bit scratched although it didn't fall

I bought these cords for my wife's phone after the original one came apart. This seemed to be the best price, although we didn't really want/need the car charger cord. 94 95 96 97 Honda Accord Battery Strap Tie Down Anodized Blue Aluminum - by APCI wanted to get something to make under my hood look snazzy, so I got this tiedown. it came when it was scheduled to and the packaging was nice and neat. the bar itself appears to be alu and it colored very evenly blue. it comes with a rubber piece that is meant to stay inbetween the battery and the tiedown itself. you have to use half of your stock tiedown to hold the blue topper in place so dont buy as a complete replacement because you will need to buy additional pieces. I hope this helps, remember you only get a piece of alu and a thin piece of rubber thats been cut to shape, you do not get the side posts.

Sunforce 45444 600W Wind Turbine

Sunforce 45444 600W Wind TurbineI purchased this windmill to augment a solar panel I use to charge a 12 volt battery bank. I have a solar powered well system for watering cattle, and the solar was not keeping up during times of low light. I intend for this unit to be an augment to my current system, not the only source of electrical current. I purchased this unit because it was 200 more watts output than the most popular sun force mill, but I was sort of disappointed that it is not made in USA like the 400 watt model. It is made in Taiwan. I guess this is ok, as Taiwan is an ally of the USA, so at least it was not made in PRC.

The package arrived quickly, and everything was in order and exactly as described. I assembled the unit in just under 30 minutes. There was an extra set of screws, nuts, and bolts included, and this could be handy for fumble fingers like myself. The fasteners are of good quality, and they were all present and accounted for. I did not have to use any of the extras (yet). Also included is a electro brake switch which I am not planning on using.

I first tried to mount the mill on a 21 foot piece of chain link fence top-rail, but it buckled over in the middle. I opted for a heavy piece of tubing from the chain link fence wholesaler, and it works great. I used #10 SOJ cable for my electrical connections. The mill started turning even before I had it hoisted all the way up, and it makes a pleasant enough sound as it turns. There is some small noticeable vibrations that may be due to a small imbalance in the rotor blades or something, but nothing that seems detrimental to the mill.

I made all the electrical connections without any trouble. The charge controller seems to be a fairly substantial unit, but could have been labeled on the back a little more clearly about which color wire goes to which screw, but the instruction manual cleared this up and there were no problems. The controller has a switch on the front that brakes the rotors to keep them from turning. I have not tested this in a stiff wind, but it stops the rotors in 8-10 MPH winds. Also included is a 30 amp panel meter to plumb into the electrical system in case you want to monitor current flow going to your battery bank.

The mill turns pretty much most of the time, although the charge light on the controller will only illuminate when there is a fairly good gust of sustained wind. This intermittent charging will work fine for me as this is supplemental to my solar panel, and I expect to get the most charging on cloudy days and windy seasons when the sun doesn't tend to shine so much. The unit is located in North East Oklahoma. I can readily see that another 21 ft of tower length would increase the output due to more undisturbed winds, but for now this is working pretty good, and I didn't have to use guy wires as the pole is attached to the side of the well house.

I am satisfied with this unit.

***** The Caveat ******

After reading so many negative reviews on this same product, I feel I must amend my review so that I am disclosing everything. Now pay attention: This unit requires wind to work! That's right, I know this is surprising, but this baby doesn't do a thing without wind! And even when it is working at max speed and full power, it will not replace your utility company, your neighbors will not be buying power off of your grid, and you will not be getting a fat rebate check from the grid. They won't be shutting down 3-mile island just because you have a wind turbine in the back yard. Hope this helps alleviate all the disappointed folks looking to start selling wind power and offering free rides to the moon.

The "Product Features" summary incorrectly states that it starts to "operate" at 4 mph, implying it's producing power. If you read the manual, there is a diagram that shows the turbine starts producing at 4 m/s that's 4 meters per second, or about 9 mph, and then the power production is small. It does not produce 600W until you get up to about 30mph. That's a **lot** of wind!

Buy Sunforce 45444 600W Wind Turbine Now

I bought this from Fry's electronics years ago. i installed this after a lot of effort. it really is hard to get something that high and stable at the same time. I suggest that you set up the pole first before you buy the turbine. Finally, after many tech support emails later, i could only get a trickle of a charge. After everything looked good, Sunforce said that i did not have enough wind! I found that was not true, because I tested it blowing as fast as possible, and I still get the same trickle charge. i'm just too tired of spending more time and effort on this turbine. It is now way past the return period, and it would be hard to prove that their product is defective in small claims since i'm not an engineer. I don't buy any sunforce products now. Neither should you. Also, i suggest that you try to turn the turbine with a drill first to see if you get a charge before installing. I should have done this first myself.

"OK, I'll take your bait and do the math.

The stated rotor diameter was 2 ft (2/3.28ft/m = 0.61 m or 0.3048 m radius) and the stated power was 600 watts. We'll assume air density to be 1.25 kg/m^3, and the coefficient of performance = 0.4. The Betz Limit of coefficient of performance is 59.3% and is the theoretical maximum Cp.

The basic equation is

P = rho/2 * area in m^2 * (velocity in m/s)^3 * Cp

The area is pi *r^2 = pi * 0.3048^2= 0.2919 m^2. (For reference, 1ft radius^2 * pi = 3.14 ft^2.)

Rearranging the equation, the velocity through the rotor must be

cube root of (P / (rho/2 * A * Cp))

Cube root (600/(0.625 * 0.2919 *0.40))

= Cube root (8222) = 20.18 m/s (1 m/s = 2.24 mph)

Regressing to the English mph, that's a windy 45.14 miles per hour.

Did I do that calculation right? Think I did. However, in such a small aperture, flow throttling likely would occur slowing the wind speed from that outside the turbine influence. The conclusion is that the 600 watts is a maximum rated power value. If the speed is cut in half, the power is one-eighth. So 22.5 mph yields 75 W, 11.25 mph yields 9 W, so this turbine is good for trickle charging a battery (just like a small solar module.)"

Want Sunforce 45444 600W Wind Turbine Discount?

This wind turbine will make good yard art and a good plaything, but if you really want energy output you need a real wind turbine, and you need to put it up high in the sky where the speedier and non-turbulent wind is.

And as long as you are going to the significant expense of putting up a decent-sized tower, you might as well purchase a heavy-duty turbine that has enough output to pay for itself.

Oh yes, and none of this is worthwhile unless you have a good wind resource, and that can only be determined by measurement and/or careful and pro-level observation.

Audiovox GMRS7015RC 15-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio with Built-in Race Car Reciever/Scann

Audiovox GMRS7015RC 15-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio with Built-in Race Car Reciever/Scanner
  • 15-mile range for keeping in touch wherever you are, and racecar channel receiver/scanner for listening to drivers' chatter at the track
  • Selectable Voice Operated Transmitter for automatic voice transmission, and hands-free operation
  • 15 GMRS and 7 FRS channels, with 38 privacy codes, provides 836 combinations to help eliminate interference
  • Includes dual desktop charger for simultaneously charging, and swiveling belt clips for easy carrying
  • Powered by rechargeable NiMH batteries with long-standby times and no-memory effect, and requires FCC license

By purchacing these radios, I saved a ton of money since I did not have to buy or rent good high quality scanners for my two boys. They were clear and loud enough since we used ear buds instead of the supplied headphones since the races are extreamly loud and that worked great. All in all if you do not go to the races much and do not want to invest in a high dollar scanner, this is the way to go.

Overall, this is an mediocre scanner. Functionally, it is a bit clumsy and not the easiest to figure out how to use various functions. I primarily use these to listen to drivers during NASCAR races. Unfortunately, the volume control is not great and they pick up quite a bit of static; making it hard to hear what the drivers are talking about. The headphones that come with these are terrible; just some cheap foam covered headphones. I figured I could plug in my own, high quality, headphones but that was not the case. If you do not use the cheap ones that came with the scanner, the scanner will cease to function (literally the buttons will not respond).

On the bright side, the desk charger is nice. Having rechargeable batteries ensures that you will have ample power. I haven't ever had an issue with them running out of power. It is also a plus that they come as a set so you don't have to use a splitter and share with someone else.

If given the opportunity to purchase these again, I would probably spend a bit more money and get a higher quality product.

PowerDrive RPPD1500 1500-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter with USB Port and 3 AC Outlet

PowerDrive RPPD1500 1500-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter with USB Port and 3 AC OutletI am a long haul trucker and I have this installed in my Volvo tractor, I just purchased my second one as the first one needed to be replaced at 1yr, 10 months of heavy use. The fan did quit working , but after all the time I stated above. I use this inverter everyday, all day, as I do all my own cooking in the truck, including making my own coffee. I have a toaster oven in my truck and a hot plate and coffee maker, I have baked in the toaster oven for 2 hours with this inverter. This inverter has saved my alot of money because I do not eat in truckstops at all, I take all my own food with me and stock the refrigerator in the truck. For the price of this inverter and the length of time I got out of it I rated it 5 stars. I don't think you can go wrong with this product. One thing I would like to mention is when you install this inverter use a DC circuit breaker in place of the fuse, because you will trip it occasionally.

purchased this a year ago and it works great with light loads (lights small drills). Does not work well with inductive loads like a refrigerator. I purchased a PowerBright 2300W in place of this and the Powerbright works extremely well with the refrigerator. In fact I have 2 refrigerators hooked up to the Powerbright.

Buy PowerDrive RPPD1500 1500-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter with USB Port and 3 AC Outlet Now

I bought mine 3 years ago at a truck stop. It was $80 then, and I figured it would get me across country back home and then I'd hock it and buy a good one. It has since been in 5 trucks and has ran a 700 watt microwave and a 900 watt electric skillet for 3 years now plus a TV and A little coffee pot. I learned to freakishly oversize the wires to these and almost any of them will work for a good while. I have double 2 Gauge (2 sets) feeding it. The leading cause of 90% of these failing is load wire size. When volts drop-Amps go up in any system. So if your wire is too small it will put incredible stresses on the electronics with raw amps. That is a sure fire way to kill one. I would almost Guarantee that others have ran it on those cheap 4 gauge cables you get at wally world. No dice, and it over thermals or screws up the circuitry and starts acting up. I destroyed my first one, a $400 samlex doing exactly that and It ended up with symptoms I see reviewers talk of on this one.

Only about a dozen companies even make inverters. 90% are all the same parts but different covers on them. You can get one from Harbor Freight, Kmart, walmart or Sears and be the same identical unit with different trim and one is all bragged up, the other one is cussed on! That goes for almost everything built nowadays. The cheaper the buyer is on these the sure bet is the cheaper the wire they will buy to feed it.

Rule of thumbNEVER buy a inverter that has a running watts the same size as your intended load. NONE can survive that level of use. Always buy one that is 1/3rd bigger or more than any load you plan to run. ExampleI have a 1500 with a 3000 watt surge, the surge is a bogus number so ignore it, I run a max of 1000 watts out of it at any one time. If you have a refrigerator that has a starting watts of 1450 than the inverter you need is a minimum of 2000 running watts (no matter what the SURGE claims are ignore them they are a lie). The surge don't EVER include the small feed wire people use. The wire the manufacturer recommends is generally only the size to cover the Running watts and 20%.

My roadpro 1500 will handle a surge of 2000 but unless I put 000 size wire on it it wont ever hit 3000 watts in a surge. Simple math folks 12.5 volts average, and Ohms law. 3000 divided by 12.5 = 240 amps. That's the limits of 00 wire in a DC system @ under 2 feet from the batteries.

I installed this thing in my work van to run a microwave and battery charger for my makita tools and it does a good job I can run both at the same time without a problem

Want PowerDrive RPPD1500 1500-Watt DC to AC Power Inverter with USB Port and 3 AC Outlet Discount?

I didn't buy this off Amazon, but locally since I needed a new inverter to replace my old Power-on-Board inverter.

This thing worked fine for about 2 weeks, then it started to fail. It will show random error messages and now says it is drawing 300w with just a laptop charger plugged in. It refuses to run my small 600w microwave (shutting down and gives a 'Overload' message) and the display says it's putting out 61.1 k/w.

For the high cost and low quality of this inverter you're better off spending your money on a quality inverter not made in China.

I've had a Punch amplifier in my car for years, and always thought it was a bit lacking.

This amplifier has been a wonderful upgrade, it has significantly more power than what it replaced. Installation was straightforward as the car was already wired for the old amplifier. I'm not sure I would have been able to run the cable from my battery to the unit myself, so consider installation costs if you aren't too handy..

Sonically, this amplifier was a very nice upgrade. The bass in clearer and louder than my old amplifier. It didn't take long to get it properly adjusted, and sounding great. So no complaints here, it sounds great, looks great, and dropped right in for me.

This was installed in a Chevy Suburban, and it sounds good! Nice, solid bass, but doesn't shake the truck (or the neighborhood). Clean bass requires power, and this has that. Getting power to run it required a direct, fused lead to the battery, and then it was pretty easy. I am running two 12" woofers, and getting no discernible distortion. I took off one star because it gets pretty warm.

Want Hifonics GLX1000.1D Gladiator 1 x 1000 Watts and 1 Ohm Amplifier Discount?

Lets be serious. No one that would buy this amp is messing around. Only hardcore car audio fanatics (like me) would choose something this slamming to power their bass section. As it should be.

I've tried (and blown!) dozens of amps over the years. This one really gets the job done. I'm currently using it to ruin my eardrums via a 12" Crunch sub, mounted in a box in a Dakota club cab. The air pressure that the sub produces is prodigious, and this amp HITS HARD.

In addition, its really beautiful, and the metal work is meticulous and clean. It looks like its quality and feels like it too. Hifonics is in the same product group that brings us Crunch, Maxxsonics, Quart and others. I usually like most of their things, and this one is no exception. Pounding, just pounding.

Save 44% Off

From what I can tell, this is a pretty solidly built amplifier and it looks like it will hold up fairly well. The case is not completely metal and includes chromed plastic, and that is of slight concern, as the housing with the holes used to fasten the amplifier to the your cabinet or car floor is made of plastic. I am not sure why they decided not to make the end caps out of metal, but I hope that the plastic end caps will be durable. Barring the plastic, this amplifier certainly feels very solid.

The amplifier has a pretty nice control set that will allow you to tune your subs fairly well from the amplifier end. The subsonic filter will allow you to cut frequencies below a certain point, keeping you from wasting power on reproducing frequencies that you do not need; this setting goes from 15Hz to 35Hz. There is, as there should be, a low pass filter as well, that will allow you to filter out all frequencies above your desired crossover point.

There is also a bass EQ setting that I personally do not recommend using, as it boosts your bass and can cause not only muddy, overly-bassy sound, but it can also cause your speakers to extrude further than they should, causing voice coil damage. In addition to this, there is a remote volume boost control box that allows you to remotely change the volume of your amplifier. I do not recommend this either, as it is no substitute for proper system setup and you will be arbitrarily adjusting the bass response. Some might not be as concerned with proper flat frequency response as I am, so this might actually be a positive for some.

I would suggest setting the system up with a real-time frequency analyzer to ensure that you get a flat frequency response and do no go overboard with booming bass. Just because you can doesn't mean that you should. When properly tuned, this amplifier can add the proper reproduction of low end frequencies to your system and give you a great sounding setup.

A wiring diagram is provided for those who are not familiar with series-parallel, parallel-parallel, series, or parallel wiring. THIS IS VITAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE WIRING THEIR SUBWOOFERS. If you do not know how to figure resistance properly, PLEASE refer to their chart, as it will show you how to wire your speakers to get the proper ohm rating.

Another note: if you display your amplifiers, you will like this one, as it has an illuminated blue logo across the top and it glows blue when it is on.
