I originally bought a different brand, which lasted about 2 minutes before it burnt out serving a power load below its rated capacity. This one works and has not failed. It does get hot. And although you may think those ridges on the sides are metal heat sinks, they are just plastic decoration. The entire case is plastic, with just a few air holes. So if you can provide some airflow to help cool it, you should do so. I am using it to power a thermoelectric cooler, so I place it next to the cooler so the cooler fan blows on it. That helps.

This converter works fine and gave new life to an old car stereo in my grandparents garage. Yes, like the other reviewer mentioned, this adapter is only rated for 6 amps rather than 10, but the description has been fixed now. The converter doesn't run hot while in use and the green power LED is a nice touch. However, I think that the build quality could be somewhat better, the top and bottom of the casing is warped pretty noticeably.

Update -

About a year or so after I wrote this review, I replaced the incandescent lights in my grandparents garage with fluorescent lamps. Unfortunately, whenever I would turn on the new lights, the car radio that was being powered by this converter would pick up interference from the fluorescent lamps. It would completely overpower any FM or AM station, and could even be heard when playing a CD or when using the auxiliary input. It seems this converter has very poor or no filtering. I have since switched to a Pyramid PS15KX 10A 13.8-Volt Power Supply with Cigarette Lighter Adapter, which does a great job at filtering interference and outputs more power as well. However, considering the extra expense, bulk, and heat output the Pyramid offers, I would still recommend this converter to someone who will not be powering any devices that are susceptible to RF interference.

I have to refrigerate medicine, and have a small refrigerator (which holds a 6 pack of soda) that plugged into the car lighter. However, I was heading to a motel room which did NOT have a refrigerator in it. This was an absolute Godsend! I was able to plug it in, and then plug in my refrigerator--it has been a lifesaver--literally! I would recommend this item over & over!

This AC/DC Power Converter is powerful. When I attached my Bell Inflation Station Air Compressor it had a lot of power. It gives the same power as when I had the Air Compressor plugged in the cigarette lighter of the car. I tested by inflating the electric scooter tires & it was done in seconds! I also have a bicycle and I already know that this will work as good! So handy and now I don't have to go to the gas station for Air in my tires. I'm very pleased. I also got this package in 5 days! This is a great product. It was easy to set up and the clarity is great; as good as the in car one that came with my Prius. The only downside is that there is no way to know when the charge is running low so I tend to keep it hooked up to the car charger most of the time. Hence four stars not five.

I bought this for my husband to use in his truck. He is on the road most of the day and his job requires several phone calls in and out all day. The speaker phone allows him to voice activate to make calls without using his cell phone. Much safer and more efficient then having to stop every time he needs to make or receive a call. There are higher priced speakerphones out there but this one had been a reliable workhorse. Have purchased 6 of these for the whole family. Been using my original one for a couple of years. My Kargo Kooler arrived damaged in a dented box without any interior packing materials. The lid doors were warped and a little loose, a screw was missing from a hinge, the cheap plastic lid latch did not work properly, and I could not use this cooler vertically as a "refrigerator" because the heavy bottom door sagged badly. Perhaps attaching the heavy cooling unit to a lid door is a design flaw of this model.

The Kargo Kooler arrived a day before a 1600-mile road trip: I tested it en route to the Deep South in April as a chest cooler for exotic cheeses and a frozen pork roast, plugged into a socket in the cargo area of my Subaru Forester. I also splurged for the the optional AC adapter so I could plug it in at hotels. It cooled things superbly, despite lid problems. Yes, it may be a bit noisy in quiet office/home environments, but I did not notice its hum above road noise or the loud blasts of heating/cooling in highway hotel rooms.

My unit was obviously damaged from shipping, so I'm returning it to Amazon for a refund. Just check the lid covers and hinges very closely for damage and/or defects if you order this item.

I liked this enough to give Koolatron a second chance: I just ordered Koolatron's slightly smaller rolling mini-fridge model which may better suit my needs, has an adjustable thermostat, and should tuck away nicely and discreetly under the cargo area blind of my Subaru.

I got this as a sort of "extra" frig for drinks in the summer. However, it freezes up easily and can't be adjusted for temperature. It is lightweight and portable, working well for a drink chest for parties.

Also, the plug in that comes with it was missing. It only plugs into a car outlet--I had to buy the adapter to use it in the house.

Given the choice, I'd probably go with a small refrig that adjusts temperature. However, again, I like the portability of this product.

Used this on my road trip, it did great keeping all my food and drinks cold. Even when driving through the hot desert of 90 degree weather, it did cool down below 40 degrees from outside temperature, so it was 50 degrees inside cooler for our food. Warmer does great, can use up to 4 hrs maximum. Either cooler or warmer, plug into 12v lighter when car is running or will drain your car battery. It stays cool when at picnic and cannot plug cooler in.

Only concern is when fans running, its loud inside the car. When driving the road noise blends it out. After awhile you don't even think about it. Not too bulky in the backseat. Easily used seat belts to help hold it down when driving, such as around corners. Greatly recommend this cooler/warmer. My friend had a different brand and didn't work well. This one is a great portable fridge. Plus bought adapter from Amazon.com to use at hotel rooms, plug right in to wall outlet.

The hinge on the door was broken on arrival even though the packaging was not damaged. It seems like the double door concept with the heavy cooler mechanism on the door put a lot of stress on the plastic hinge. Good concept, but poor execution. I had to return it before we could even turn it on....

I purchased this device because I wanted an FM transmitter that would simultaneously recharge my Sansa Clip Plus. That's the main feature of this device. I was also swayed by the customer reviews praising the Gomadic Company and its customer service. I can verify that Gomadic's customer service is outstanding: Every complaint I had was graciously answered within one business day, and a new device was mailed to me immediately at no charge, no questions asked. But no company can make a business around great customer service alone. The product also needs to work more or less as advertised. And this one does not.

The first device I received would transmit as long as I didn't plug in the second cable to allow simultaneous charging. As soon as I attempted to charge, the audio no longer appeared in the FM signal. In other words, it basically never worked as advertised. Gomadic's CSR emailed me that it's a "recently discovered" "bug with the device", but they have "resolved the issue" and are sending me a new device. Well, the new device actually worked ... for about three weeks. Then, unfortunately, it started transmitting all kinds of nasty noises, regardless of whether the Sansa Clip was plugged into it, or turned on, or charging. Therefore, this device became unusable as an FM transmitter. The Gomadic CSR apologized and sent me a third device. This one performed exactly like the first one. That is, it never allowed transmitting and charging at the same time.

Ordinarily, I'd apply the three-strikes-and-you're-out rule. But because of the responsive customer service, and because I really wanted this device to work, I decided to give Gomadic one last chance. My last email to them reviewed my experience, and stated that I planned to write an Amazon customer review based on whether they could make good on their product's main claim to transmit and charge at the same time. The CSR apologized again, stating, "We have sent a new one today which we are certain will resolve these issues."

It was not to be. The fourth device performed exactly like the first and third. So now I have four devices, none of which work as advertised. All but the second never worked as advertised. The second only worked for three weeks. The three dead-on-arrival units are manufactured with a 5/32" round cable, while the one which worked briefly has a flat twin zip-cord style cable. I suspect that the units with flat cable also contain an internal bug fix allowing the unit to work correctly initially ... until something else goes wrong. Units with round cable will probably never work as advertised.

It is unacceptable to me that the main feature does not work as advertised, so I gave it one star. Apparently others feel differently. Two previous customer reviews note that this feature does not work, but they gave it three and even four stars anyway.

I purchased the Gomadic transmitter/charger for my new Sansa clip. I only listen to my mp3 player in the car, so I needed something that would transmit the music. My previous Sansa had a transmitter/charger was made directly by Sansa and was able to charge and transmit at the same time. However, the Gomadic transmitter/charger can only do one or the other at a time. If I want to play music, I cannot have the charger part plugged in. Right from the moment I plugged the unit into the cigarette lighter of the car (parked inside the garage with the doors shut) I was impressed the reception. * The only real con is that the buttons are hard to see at night. (Although after you initially get it setup, you shouldn't have to mess around with the buttons to much. Lets face it, if you had the old Roady, then after a while you managed to work that thing in the dark with ease.

OVERALL:::::::

I highly recommend this product. I picked one up for $49 after rebates and the FM transmitter alone that comes with it is worth every bit of $49. Previously I had paid $40 for a Belkin TuneCast..........and couldn't transmit a signal across the room yet alone from inside the garage with the door shut.

The has performed well for me so far and has far exceeded my expectations at every turn

I bought the Roady XT last month when it first came out & loved it. Thought it couldn't possibly be topped, but boy, was I wrong.

The Audiovox Xpress actually beats it. The biggest improvement is the display; it's crisp and clear. Much of this improved clarity is due to the off-white background (don't know why the photo shows it with a blue background), which contrasts great with the black lettering. Additionally, the characters themselves seem much sharper.

Another big improvement over the Roady units: The Audiovox gives you much more information on the screen without having to switch between display modes. In addition to the artist/song title, it also gives you the channes # and name.

If an artist or song title is too long, the display will scroll. Unfortunately, XM still abbreviates some of the longer titles, probably because their early units didn't scroll, and they had a limited number of characters to work with. They need to start working on correcting this problem.

The FM modulator gives you a full range of choices from 88.1 through 107.9.

You can set the Tuneselect feature to search by either artist or song title.

And possibly the coolest thing about this unit: It also gives an audio INput, so it you decide to listen to a portable CD player, it also doubles as an FM modulator for external audio sources.

About the only complaint I can com up with is that some of the control buttons are tiny and crammed together. Apparently Audiovox was trying to dulicate the XM logo with the layout, but the result is an awkward layout. Stilll, given all the other positives about this unit, I can live with it.

I bought this for my father for Christmas, and he has enjoyed it very much. I did the installation myself (GMC Sierra pickup), and it's been years since I've fumbled around with car electronics. The antenna plug is just small enough that I was able to route it through his 3rd brake light, above the headliner, down the passenger side pillar and under the carpet to where I dash mounted the unit itself. All in all it took me about an hour to install, and most of that time was spent figuring out how to remove interior panels.

The included remote doesn't get much use since it's easier for him to just hit his preset buttons. You may also have trouble with the built in FM modulator, or rather the abundance of FM stations which interfere with the unit. We noticed a great increase in quality by using the included cassette adapter, but those with CD only stereos will obviously have trouble with that. The blue backlit display is large enough that he's able to read it without his reading glasses, which is another plus in our book. I will highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to add XM to their vehicle.

I bought on of these less than six months ago. The product was great while it worked. Easy install that anyone can do. The problem is that the display screen just stopped working. I expected get more than 6 months use out of this product. It's really too bad because I loved the idea of not doing a hard install and spending a ton of money. i have had this inverter for almost three months now. it has worked very well. i can run my 6,000 BTU air conditioner off of it with no problem but it wont start my 10,000 it tries but it doesn't quite have enough power but maybe that's cause i am running it off of my small 110 amp hour Never Start battery. i can run a small toaster oven, a Circular Saw or my friends 64" TV all with no problem. the fans adjust to its temperature so they don't always run when its cool and they are not that loud. i am using #2 GA copper wire with this. unfortunately this wont run my APC Battery Backups as the power isn't clean enough to transfer over on to it but that's not a big deal as that's not what i intended it for when i got it.

I bought this to power a portable laser printer, as soon as the printer started warming up it would fault. Tried on multiple batteries and using heavy duty cables. It just couldn't handle the job. My old 750W power inverter could at least power the printer on, this would just fail. It is also very big in size. Item returned to amazon immediately and I hardly ever return anything but not much I could do with just a brick.

Fob programmed perfectly even the remote start. I had the dealer program the fob when doing other work. The fob is actually more sensitive than the original fobs.

Bought two of these cameras, one for each car. One works great the other was a lemon from the start. Returned it once for a replacement. Continued problems with the replacement It is now past the 6 months warranty so customer service will do nothing about it. If you need help customer service they will send you suggestions on a fix, as I do not believe even they know how to fix them. I would suggest spending a few more bucks and look for a warranty that means something. Pass this camera up and look for a more quality product. I will be doing just that for my next one.

i recieved the 150a marine circuit breaker . quickly. however , as not being an installer of such parts i was left with little info as to the installing of the equipment. as most know it only takes 15-20 amps to kill a human,so i was a lil hesitant to start tinkering with a 150 a circuit breaker. I also realized after placing the order,that i would need a sufficient wire gauge upgrade. anything more than 115a needs 2 gauge wire, and i had 4 gauge. so i feared an electric fire or worse had i actually used the item. I sent the item back,and was greeted with a return email,and postage,and prompt refund. i then ordered the right product which was a 2 gauge amp kit with a 150a inline fuse .

I agree with the other reviewers who said this product needs an o-ring. I found it very difficult to get it to seal on the tire valve stem, but with the o-ring it works perfectly. (Why they don't manufacture it that way I don't know). But by getting an inexpensive o-ring from Ace Hardware you have a product that is outstanding. Another reviewer said the size o-ring he bought was 1/4 x 1/8 x 1/16. However I found this size was too small and didn't fit. I had to get 5/16 x 3/16 x 1/16, and it's a perfect fit. And with tax it cost me a mere .18 cents. An easy modification well worth it.

I bought an O-ring at Ace Hardware [stk no.35774B] and this ring fits perfectly into the inside of the sensor. Around the hole which makes contact with the metal tire stem. Walla ! the leak problem has stopped and one gets a very tight fit onto the stem curing the problem.

The exact size of the this rubber O-ring 1/4 x 1/8 x 1/16. [#60 O-ring]

The Accutire "Setpoint Tire Gauge," model MS-4350B from "MSI Sensors" (aka "MS-4350: Digital Set Point Programmable..." from "Measurement Specialties"), UPC 1550710566, has seven nice features. First, it's easy to hold. The bottom of the larger-than-usual body is rubberized, and the shape allows you to firmly press it onto a tire valve stem with a thumb. Second, there is an LED light activated by a big round button on the back. Third, the screen is backlit and the numbers are large. Fourth, there is no need to turn it on/off. Instead, you can push the nozzle onto the valve, and it displays the measurement; about 15 seconds later, it turns itself off. Fifth, it beeps when an accurate reading is taken. Sixth, the two CR2032 lithium batteries will presumably last a long time, and can be replaced if they wear out. Finally, if you keep forgetting how much air is needed, you can program separate front & rear target pressures.

UNFORTUNATELY, it's hard to obtain a solid seal on valves. It's the same problem noted here and in reviews of "Accutire MS-4000B Deluxe Backlit Lithium Digital Tire Gauge" on Amazon.com. One September 24, 2004, review there by "Crazy Dude" says "because you're pressing plastic (the gauge) against metal (the tire air stem), you must hold it perfectly flush or air will escape, making a reading difficult to get."

So to improve my gauge I more-or-less followed the instructions of "Crazy Dude," which were: "I used '3M Scotch linerless rubber splicing tape.' The thickness is important. I used .03 in. (.761mm). I wouldn't go any thicker. ... All you need to do is cut it to the diameter of the inside of the gauge's mouth, then cut out a small hole for the air hole."

Since my home has no rubber tape, I took a wide pink rubber band (from a bunch of broccoli) about 0.75mm thick. I cut a gasket about 7.5mm diameter with a 3mm hole and glued it in place. Now it works like a charm. If you have the time to make this modification, buy it from Amazon.com!

The progammable features are nice, but I should have listened to the other reviews. Those folks that said this gauge doesn't make a good seal with the tire were right on the money. The first time I tried it I let at least 5-6 psi out of the tire. After playing with it for about 20min, I still could only get a good seal after letting about 2-3 seconds of air out of the tire. This thing stinks and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I can't believe that so many people rate this thing so highly. And I also can't believe that more people don't complain about how non-user friendly it is!

For one thing, you should be able to turn it on and use it, not have to go through several screens just to check your tire pressure! After you program it, when you turn it on the display should immediately come on to the part where you can check either the front or back tire pressure, without having to go through several screens just to get to the one you need.

Moreover, I'm surprised that Charles T. Walsh was the only reviewer who wrote "What's worse is that when it beeps (to tell you that you have a good reading) if you don't immediately remove it, I mean a flash fast muscle twitch reaction, it resets itself and erases the reading it just took." How true, Charles! The thing resets itself so quickly (forcing you to go through the cumbersome task of once again going through several screens just to get to the one to read your tire pressure) that after trying it several times, I also gave up and just used my good old manual standby.

O'well. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!
