I received this unit as a gift and it paired up with my cell with no problem but it will not accept any entries from my contact list. The phone will show entry sent but nothing shows when checking the unit. The directions that comes with it are very short and unclear, so I can answer incoming calls with it but that is all. It's just another piece of junk. Buyer beware.

Cool item fits the steering wheel perfectly and looks cool. Works great. I did have to mount it on the bottom of the steering wheel because it block my view of the gauges but it works even better up side down because the speakers face upwards.,

Bought this camera on amazon. I will be using it on my outdoor adventures. Price is good. Camera easy to use and does all it says. Very user friendly. Really good picture. I like the fact that you can use up to 32GB sd card. Also a feature i like is that it requires AA batteries this helps me because you dont have to depend on charging it all the time. This helps when your out in the woods and no plug to charge. With this camera just changeout the batteries and your ready to go. Recording time varies according to GB used. But as far as battery power I put in toys r us brand batteries and they lasted for 3hours worth of recording. Pretty good considering they were off brand.

I have tried several cigarette adapters and finally found what I'm looking for. Advantages are as follows.

1. Can be used for both 12VDC and 24VDC. (Other product I purchased did not describe input voltage, and instantly broken when I connected it to 24VDC.)

2. USB rated to 2.1A, and it can charge iPad.

3. Attractive blue illumination. (Other products generally use cheap-looking small red LED.)

4. Compact design

I'm very pleased! I ordered 2 of these because I had a lot of doubts in car splitters as previous ones and most I found online had HORRIBLE reviews. With this one that is NOT the case. They seem very quality and durable build. If something goes wrong I trust this seller will take care of me. Although I don't think anything will go wrong! This product seems more quality than the rest. I found Sears selling this exact same model on their site(for nearly 10x laszpowers price!).

I think I was lucky to find lasz's listings and have 1 of these adapters setup in both my households cars now. The nice glow of the blue light(from the BESTTEK logo on top) showing when its pulling power is really nice. In one of my cars the adapter that plugs into the lighter socket is slightly smaller than the outlet and we always unplug them when we're not in the car as we don't know if its bad to leave things plugged in pulling power from the battery?(maybe someone can answer me? =D) Anyway, even though its slightly smaller it still stays connected and pulling power while we have it pushed in there. I just like that it shows the blue light so we know when we've 'hit the sweet spot' in that car and don't have to waste time wiggling it around or messing with it. So the light(which i thought might be annoying) is actually quite helpful.BESTEK car cigarette lighter socket usb socket car charger Cigarette Lighter adapter dc to dc adapter for car charger adapter usb car charger socket car adapter socket car socket splitter car splitter adapter 3 way plug socket usb socket outlet three wa...

I ordered this adapter on a Friday and it arrived on Monday via USPS from across country...pretty snappy customer service if you ask me. The unit is stylish and well built and works as you would expect. Both sockets plug in securely as well as the primary plug into the cigarette lighter. All in all, a very well built unit and the blue LED power-on light is a nice touch. I highly recommend this product.

Schumacher SE-125A Automatic / Manual Battery Charger with Engine Start

Schumacher SE-125A Automatic / Manual Battery Charger with Engine StartI've owned this charger for 5 years. It has a "manual" function, meaning that you can charge a battery past the normal 80% that the automatic chargers will. It means you can also charge one more quickly because the automatic function (also on this unit) of most chargers tapers off the amperage sent to the charger as it reaches 80% of charge. (15 amps also goes faster than ten.) Manual means you can also "condition" a battery to get the sulfites off of the plates, by carefully charging and watching to the point where the battery plates begin to gas off. Means a battery will take and maintain a better charge and last longer. I use it on the RV cabin battery for this, but also use it regularly just for car stuff.

All this and it does what other chargers do. 2 amp trickle charge, high powered capacitor starting function.

I DROVE OVER THIS CHARGER WITH A 5000 POUND 1986 LTD CROWN VICTORIA TODAY! FLAT as a pancake. Ahem, well. First plugged it in and promptly blew the garage circuit breaker. Immediately started hunting for other Schumacher chargers on the net. After spending two hours and seeing this particular unit is now over $100 new, thought "Well, let's see if I somehow tear it apart and look." No sooner got the mangled housing off, and (uuuhhh!!) bent the back upright (which had a circuit board on it), plugged it in, and it works!! And, in the course of bending back the heavy steel housing, NO paint flaked off. Must be baked-on enamel. These babies are built tough. As another reviewer for Schumacher chargers said, "No repackaged imported junk".

I take my hat off to this company: features, durability (!), quality........ wow.

This is, IMHO, a well made battery charger. Works well! (Even with the quirks noted below).

The Good:

1) Has manual and auto modes and therefore will charge a completely dead battery. (Some , if not most, automatic only chargers need a couple volts to prove correct hookup and will not begin charging on a fully dead battery).

2) Heavy duty metal case.

3) Plenty of charging options including 6 volt for, perhaps, charging a single golf cart battery as found in RV and scooter apps as well.

4) Has "OFF" setting on rotary dial. Useful if using the 125 Amp start setting which has recommended max 5 sec duration per instructions.

5) Charges 12 volt batteries very, very well. (Have not tested on 6 volt)

The BAD:

1) Has poor rotary switch layout. Requires (most of the time) when switching to off or from 2A to 15A setting to cycle through the 125amp setting. This causes unnecessary stress on the battery and the charger. To avoid this one must unplug when changing setting.

2) Poorly written instructions regarding the use of the rotary switch vs the slide switch. Inst manual is generic for many of their chargers and not specific for this model.

3) Amp gauge on front of charger does not read in amps, but % of battery charge. Great for girls and girly guys, but not for the guys who have lawn tractors, boats, ATV's, etc. and really want to know what is going on at a glance.

4) Feet are molded from the metal case and do not have protective rubber pads to prevent marring and skiding.

The "who cares":

1) Has green LED which lights when battery is fully charged in 15 amp automatic mode. Does not work in 2 amp mode where it might actually be useful.

Buy Schumacher SE-125A Automatic / Manual Battery Charger with Engine Start Now

I had an older Schumacher that only had a 50 amp emergency boost, which was inadequate for most emergencies, so when that disappeared, I bought this SE-125A. I left it on the 2 amp charger setting for awhile on my Porsche's 12v battery while it was still connected in the car. It fully charged it and as stated in the owner's manual, when set on the 2 amp charge, the green light will not light when the battery is fully charged. The 15 amp, 12v automatic setting will turn on the green light when the battery is charged, but I wouldn't leave it like this for too long. I looked at the meter and the green light was lit, then the charger would stop charging with the meter falling off to the right. At the same time the green light would shut off, but then the meter would swing back to the left (charging again) and the green light would go on. This cycle took about 5 seconds to complete. After watching this happen many times over a period of 2 minutes, I unplugged it, feeling that can't be good for the Schumacher's longevity. It does the job and the price is right. The cord attached to the unit is relatively short, so you'll need a high quality 3-pronged extension cord if you want to use this charger while the battery is still connected in your vehicle.

I've owned this about two years and its worked flawlessly. Its been used to keep three vehicles, three tractors, and two lawn mowers going through all the Minnesota seasons. I like the fact that it has an "off" setting. Its been very versatile and holds up well to fairly rough treatment. Would definitely buy again.

EDIT 5/27/11:

Very shortly after writing this glowing review, my unit seems to have died. I needed to jump a battery and pulled out the charger and let it charge for the normal amount of time. But battery was still dead. Repeated this process a few times and decided it wasn't the battery, must be something wrong with the truck, which is admittedly fairly old. Then noticed I wasn't getting a decent spark when i touched the positive and negative connectors together. Pulled out very old and frail charger that was nearly junked when I bought this Schumacher and it charged up the battery just fine. Upon further review, it appears that my Schumacher charger works only when in Manual setting, and does nothing when in automatic. I expect this sort of product to last more than two years.

Want Schumacher SE-125A Automatic / Manual Battery Charger with Engine Start Discount?

I already knew what I was getting, and I was right. Great charger.

It has both auto, and manual settings, and what I like the best is the 15 amp charge, along with being able to use the manual settings rather than Auto.

The 125 amp engine start is a nice bonus to this charger, and will start a car that has a battery thats not completely gone.

But if the battery is totally dead, this 125 amp start probably wont help.

With a "completely dead" battery, you'll need more than 125 amps, that this charger/starter delivers.

You'd need something closer to 400 CCA (cold cranking amps).

The 125 amps will help most vehicles start, when there's still some charge left in the battery, (but just not enough to start your vehicle).

I had an older charger, with a "Engine Start" feature, but it was only 50 amps, so pretty much useless. It was a much cheaper charger, and half the weight of this one.

Update:

I was just about to use this charger, and am glad I didn't.

It has a large bolt rattling around inside the charger.

I then started the replacement request, and Amazon quickly made it right.

As soon as I un-boxed this charger, I closely inspected it, then plugged it in, and tested it. It works great. Very happy customer!

Battery Tender 022-0157-1 Waterproof 12 Volt Power Tender Plus Battery Charger

Battery Tender 022-0157-1 Waterproof 12 Volt Power Tender Plus Battery ChargerI have many different vehicles and pieces of motorized equipment. Everything from a 50 ft long motor home with 4 engine starting batteries, to four Harley Davidson motorcycles. The common thread is that they all sit for extended periods of time, and they all have expensive batteries. I have tried all of the different battery maintainers I could find and I still keep coming back to Battery Tender. Aside from the terrific reliability, (not true for other maintainers), the best feature for me is the fact that all you do is plug the Battery Tender in and forget about it. Everything is automatic....this is important if the power fails. Other Battery Maintainers require that one push buttons to set certain parameters. The unfortunate side effect is that the charger will not work without the afore mentioned "button pushing" and your battery may be dead when you need it. Stick with Battery Tender!

Battery Tender Plus 022-0157-1 received as described. It is a compact size in a heavy duty, weatherproof case which makes it great for outdoor applications such as charging batteries on a travel trailer. Very easy to use...just plug it in and walk away. Consider getting extra wiring harnesses for other charging applications. Harnesses make it easy to plug in and charge batteries without having to hook up bulky clamps and cables. Would recommend.

This is a great product for protecting your batteries. I have used it for years on my TransAm, which I rarely drive, and my motorcycle. Motorcycle batteries usually last 4 6 years. My last one lasted 9 years. I have a friend who has a Z which he rarely drives; and during the time I had one battery on my TransAm he replaced his 3 times. After suggesting he get one of these 3 or 4 times with no success I finally bought him one myself.

Amazon's dimension specs for this say that it is almost double the size that it is. The actual correct dimensions are 5.2" L x 5.0" W x 2.0" H. The weight appears to be correct. This error can make a BIG difference if you are planning out the space for it before it arrives.

As far as the product itself goes, nothing but positive things to say. I know several people who use these regularly as well for classic cars that sit in storage and they all rave about them as well. I have been using to charge a marine deep cycle battery that I use to power a power-box for my telescope and equipment. It has worked perfectly and does an excellent job charging and keeping a charge on this when not in use.

Want Battery Tender 022-0157-1 Waterproof 12 Volt Power Tender Plus Battery Charger Discount?

I've used Deltran chargers before and they've always been a solid product. However, the discrepancies between their marketing literature and their instruction booklet, and the general way the instruction booklet is written, means that I can only give them a 4 star rating. Their website states, "any capacity lead acid battery." While the instruction booklet states "designed for six-cell. . . 1.2-200Ah," lead acid batteries. Not a big deal for most, but if you're looking for something to charge batteries in parallel (such as in a diesel truck or marine batteries), it would be good to know which info is correct. Which brings me to my next point. There's nothing in the official literature about using this particular charger to charge more than one battery at a time. I can only guess that if the voltage matches and the amps aren't exceeded, it should do just fine. Another issue is that the instructions only give the steps for hooking-up the alligator clips to the battery, however this unit doesn't come with the clips, just the quick-disconnect ring terminals. It would also be beneficial if they matched-up the marketing and instruction booklet technical specs to battery manufacturer specs. So, if the battery manufacturer recommends a max float charge of x, then state what the float charge of the charger is. This is a well built charger and deserves well written literature to go with it.

Four stars because there is no retainer clip to keep the charger cord attached to the mount, so once I take my phone out, I have to drag the cord up and reattach it to the phone when I put it back in the mount. Sony Bluetooth Transmitter and Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players

Sony Bluetooth Transmitter and Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players
  • Wireless trasmission from player to compatible devices
  • Compact, rechargeable unit for portable use
  • Universal connection to any portable music player
  • Bluetooth1 version 2.0, A2DP profile
  • Gold-plated stereo mini plug

I have always had high regard for Sony's products. They design always used to be very thoughtful with attention to the slightest details. However, I'm quite disappointed with this product as well as the Sony bluetooth headphones that pairs with this. Most of them may seem like trivial issues, but in the long frequent run, they turn out to be really annoying, especially after you pay for a premium product.

The few good things first. The sound quality is flawless, when in range. There's no noise or hissing and every note is clear. The device itself is really easy to use and I have no qualms about that; simply turn it on and use it. Battery life is alright, but I don't think you can replace the battery. (Not sure about that one yet.)

The things that annoy me are the following. Maybe you are like me too?

#1. You can't use the device while its connected to the charging dock. You can't use it while it's charging either. Maybe it's not intended to be used as a desktop device. But unfortunately, that's what I bought it to be used as. So you have to charge it and remove out of the dock.. (leave it hanging or something) every time you want to use it.. really annoying if you are using it on a regular basis. I can't see how they can overlook such an issue.

#2. Range is limited, when compared to other transmitters in the market.

#3. The power plug/transformer/adapter's design can't be worse. The plug is so wide, when plugged in, you can't plug anything next to it. This may seem like a silly issue, but it can become so annoying, esp. when you have a zillion other things plugged into your outlet box, like mine. How can Sony design something so horrible? They could have made the plug stand vertical like the zillion other plugs out there are. At the least, they could have made the plug retractable. Huh.

#4. The audio latency seems to be slightly longer than when connected through other transmitters, which is really strange. I know bluetooth protocol has the inherent latency issues. But it's worse with this device.

#5. The coiled wire is such a nuisance.... well, atleast they seem to have fixed it with the newer models.

Buy Sony Bluetooth Transmitter and Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players Now

This product works very well. The only reason I did not give it five stars is the clip on back that holds it in place does not have very much gripping strength. Also, sure wish Sony would have provided a standard-size port for charging. (maybe mini-USB?) If something happens to the charging base, you're hosed! Having said that, the transmitter is very easy to pair, and the coiled cable allows you locate it wherever you need to. I got this to use with my 2nd gen iPod touch and I consider it an invaluable accessory.

Read Best Reviews of Sony Bluetooth Transmitter and Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players Here

This unit transmits good quality audio. The cable will be a plus for some, a negative for others. It paired easily with my Motorola HT820 headphones. There are some infrequent dropouts. The charging base seems unnecessary and bulkey. The range is about half of what is stated without interfering obstacles.

Want Sony Bluetooth Transmitter and Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players Discount?

This is going back. I purchased this to use with my MP3 player for jogging, on the treadmill / elliptical and also for watching TV at night without disturbing my family. I paired this with the Motorola S9 bluetooth headphones (which work great when paired with my bluetooth phones). At any distance over about 5 feet the signal breaks up. Never works through walls. When trying to run or work out using this just the movement of my body causes interference and the signal constantly breaks up. Totally unusable no matter whether I wear the radio / transmitter in front or back. I always clip it outside the pocket, but no luck. It's important to note that the S9 headphones paired with just my cellphone has a range of about 20 feet including through walls, through my body, etc. Just a weak transmitter on this Sony!

My wife bought this Sony product from a big box store. Loved it. Thought I would try and save some money by using Amazon. Found it being sold for almost 20$ less. Know I know why. The picture you see on this website is of an extension cord (that plugs into earphone jack of any A/V device) that is expandable. The one I received when I purchased it here on Amazon was static and unstretching and renders it almost useless if you wear it on your waist while walking, running, working around the house. It is only like two inches. The one my wife bought, expands and I use it all the time while my new one sits virtually unused. Maybe I should contact the dealer to get my $$$ back, but that also seems like more hassle. Don't be fooled by this picture. This isn't the one they send me.

Rearview Mirror DVR with Dual Swivel car Camera video recorder with 3.5'' LCD screen DVR35C2

Rearview Mirror DVR with Dual Swivel car Camera video recorder with 3.5'' LCD screen DVR35C2
  • How do you prove to the traffic police what really happened, in case a road accident occurs? No lawyer can help you more effectively than an in-car DVR does. And no DVR is more useful than this one.
  • Combining a Rearview Mirror with a powerful DVR, this product allows you to get a glimpse of what's behind you, and records the road situations both inside and outside the car, at the same time. The two cameras are both 180 degree rotatable so you can record at the best angle you want. You can also switch between single or dual camera display/record. Better yet, the two cameras even come with nightvision for you to record videos at night!
  • Installing this Rearview Mirror DVR couldn't be simpler, as it is designed to easily clip onto your pre-installed rear view mirror. It will start recording from the moment the device is turned on. You can record in two Different Modes, normal continuous recording, or cycled recording for saving data space. With this great little gadget, now everyone from general drivers, police officers, journalists, detectives, lawyers, taxi drivers can have the evidence they need that will hold up in court.

The description for this item says it can handle SD cards up to 32GB and so I was was expecting a product with plenty of recording capacity.

Well it turns out that what you actually get is something can only record up to a maximum of 5 minutes at which point it starts recording again over writing the previous recording.

Now you have an additional source of stress at an incident did my camera capture the incident and is it just about to to delete the recording?

Whilst most incidents are over in just seconds it is entirely unreasonable to market a product that has such a short recording time with no option to save old recordings in the unit itself. If it was making 5 minutes recordings until the card was full that would be OK but as it stands although you can use a 32GB card you can only ever make about about 0.5GB worth of recordings. In the heat of the moment would any of us be sufficiently alert enough to immediately check the camera and press stop before it hits the 5 minute mark or would we be focusing on the more important aspects of any incident?

Customer support were polite but failed to come back with any reply to these concerns even though I asked on 2 separate occasions and they promised to look into it.

I was going to get one of these for my partner but will now be looking elsewhere.

I bough it because it was the cheapest charger and I got a case and car charger too! I was nervous it wouldn't work for my phone but, both chargers did. FYI they are an off brand but, if I wanted to pay top dollar I would have bought the name brand elsewhere.

This case is very nice. The color is not true to the picture. It is a hard case with a light gel finish. It snaps to the back and front and provides a tight fit. For the price, it is excellent because you get the chargers as an extra bonus. My phone did not come with a car charger, which is very handy when you are traveling long distance.

Orange Electronic LE6L2T Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda Replacement Tire Pressure Sensor

Orange Electronic LE6L2T Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda Replacement Tire Pressure SensorThis sensor is a replacement for Ford, Mercury, Lincoln, Mazda and a few other manufacturers TPMS sensors.

I have used these a few times before to mount seasonal tires on their own rims. I have 12 installed on wheels for two Ford and Mercury products.

Great replacement for the banded OEM sensors that the tire techs always seem to screw up when they do tire service.

They function flawlessly. Great price. Immediately recognized by the onboard TPMS system and easily configured as long as you have the tool to "ping" the sensor so it will ident. Although the manufacturer claims that a magnet can invoke the ident function, I have not been able to make the magnet work after several dozen attempts under my belt.

Most of the tire and service shops in my area rely heavily on the customer using the same rims for seasonal tires, so they don't have the "ping" tool. HARD TO BELIEVE. So I'm stuck relying on the "Stealer" to do the reset at a cost of $40.00. I am currently looking for an inexpensive tool so I don't have to rely upon the the "stealer" to do the reset. Other than that, great inexpensive product. I will continue to purchase these.

Oh, these are NOT compatable with the TPMS display that Orange Electronics makes and markets as an aftermarket TPMS addition to vehicles that were not supplied with a TPMS system.

I wanted to be able to see the pressure and temperature on all 4 wheels, which their display does and my vehicles display does not. However these sensors are not compatable with the display unit.

I purchased these to replace my OEM sensors which had gone out. For 1/3rd the cost they worked perfectly.

Kenwood DNX5120 6.1-Inch-Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Navigation with USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiv

Kenwood DNX5120 6.1-Inch-Wide Double-DIN In-Dash Navigation with USB/iPod Direct Control/DVD Receiver
  • Garmin navigation system, radio, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/WMA/AAC, MPEG1/MPEG2, iPod, USB, HD/SAT radio-ready, Bluetooth-ready receiver
  • 4 x 50 Watts maximum power with two 2V preamp outputs
  • 6.1-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display with 480 x 234 pixel resolution
  • Includes direct iPod connection, USB music streaming, front panel A/V input; add Kenwood adapters for SAT/HD Radio and Bluetooth
  • One-year limited warranty

I also have this radio and think its great.. very easy to use and looks awesome.. Martins wrote in his review "and all the streets are pre-programmed, any updates come straight from Garmin via satellite, " thats NOT true. Software updates need to be downloaded from Garmins website and burned to a CD and copied over. Map updates are usually done yearly and must be purchased (for $140) from Garmin (or another authorized re-seller) they are NOT free and are NOT sent straight from a satellite.

It doesn't change how good this radio is, but I just wanted to make sure no one was basing their purchase on an incorrect statement.

The main advantages of this unit over similar units are (i) nav data not DVD-based or hard-disk-based, everything is on flash memory; (ii) name-brand nav (Garmin) and name-brand bluetooth add-on (Parrot), unlike off-brand hardware/firmware on other competing units; (iii) no retractable screen so fewer moving parts to fail.

Basically this is a very good and useful unit. The nav is well-designed and works well. I do have some complaints:

(a) Even though everything is in flash memory, startup is slow. You will be halfway down the block before the nav is ready, and two blocks away before the bluetooth unit has paired with your phone. I have been told that competing units are even slower, so maybe this is an improvement, but technology still has a ways to go. Certainly no reason for pairing to take this long, my old radio paired almost instantly.

(b) Awful interface (except the Garmin part, which is fine):

--The front panel buttons are completely non-intuitive; try figuring out how to turn the whole thing off and on, or how to turn off the radio playing in the background when using the nav. You can get used to it, but it's inelegant to say the least, and if you lend your car to someone, they'll never figure it out.

--The onscreen menus are a complete jumble, and the manual is incomprehensible. (I consider myself to be technically savvy; I installed the system myself.)

--The mp3 menu is awful, for example you can see tracks sorted by album or artist, but you just have to know how to do it because it is far from obvious. You need to push a button mysteriously marked PLIST. You have to do it again each time you start the car.

--The Bluetooth interface is poorly designed, for example you can choose a number by voice commands, but you can't actually voice dial...you have to look at the screen and touch the 'dial' button to complete the dialing process.

(c) If disconnected from the battery, all the settings are lost, and this can cause more problems than just loss of radio presets. I realize that after installation the unit shouldn't normally lose power, but if you take it in for service and they disconnect and reconnect the battery, the backup camera (add-on) stops working!

I thought they cut the cable somehow, but actually the default setting of the Kenwood DNX5120 is to ignore the backup voltage signal. You have to go in and change the setting back. (There is a way to save the settings in nonvolatile memory and restore them, but this has to be done manually every time...why not save all settings in flash memory automatically?)

Kenwood DNX5120

I June 5, 2008, I purchased and had Platinum Audio in Corona, California install my DNX5120. I have had Sony, Alpine, and Kenwood stereos prior and have experimented with iPod connections to these stereos. The stereo's killed two of my iPods. The DNX5120 broke all the rules and really exceeded my expectations as far as the iPod interface. The integration is clean, easy to understand, and faster to use than the iPod itself. Here is an example. I have countless artists on my iPod. Using the scroll wheel it take time to scroll through the artist until letters come up and to be honest with you, it takes me a least two tries to land on the right letter. Using the DNX5120, I can scroll down by multiple artist and even click on slide bar to go half the way down my list or all the way down. All this at the speed of just pressing button and not waiting for the iPod or the stereo to catch up.

The navigation is dummy proof. I have used the BMW, Toyota, Magellan, Tom Tom, and Honda navigation and the DNX5120 blows them out of the water. It does not get any easier than this. I have read that it takes a long time to start up. I don't see that problem. Once I start my vehicle, the Kenwood screen appears for about 5 seconds and I am off to the races. After all, it is not good for the vehicle if you start and immediately drive.

I don't have any complaints about the stereo. Here are some things I really like;

* Knob for volume. It feel sturdy and I like touching the screen less than I have too

* Clean font, easy to read

* Quick/easy/instant access from user interface to navigation and back

* Easy to understand hierarchy of menu

* Garmin Nav. is easy to use and easy to upgrade

* No need for second DVD box for nav.

* Excellent GPS signal quality

* Ability to watch iPod movies on screen

* USB connection...I like putting my on photo as a background

The bottom line is the shop did an outstanding job the installation and the DNX5120 works better than what I had expected. When you put this stereo in perspective, it is combining a tuner, a DVD player, an audio iPod, a video ipod, XM, and CD/MP3 player together into one unit with none to little glitches. And if you are an Apple fan like myself, this works perfectly with the iPod.

That is my two cents and five out of five stars......

I came from a Pioneer D3. This unit does some things better and some not. The D3 is also an older unit. Obviously the Garmin Navigation is the way to go. They make the best portable units, same applies here. The audio/video UI is not the greatest I'll admit that. I liked the D3 better. That being said the 5120 has a better Sirius interface and I believe HD Radio is too. It can show much more info at a time instead of hitting buttons to scroll through. That and the flash based navigation is what made me change. Having to put in a disc for navigation is just plain silly. Installation for add-ons was also easier with the 5120. No power required for the bluetooth or satellite boxes. Just plug in the communication cable, pretty simple. I'd have no problems recommending this to a friend. It does everything good enough.

This is a great unit. Overally I am quite happy. I have the KCA-BT200, the GSM10 traffic receiver, the connection cable for Sirius (CA-SR20V) and the SCC1 sirius tuner, the ipod cable, plus boyo VTX420 backup camera. I did the install myself. Looking back was probably more work than I planned but outside of battling with trim pieces the wiring really was quite straightforward.

Now, on to the various bits and pieces of the unit and accessories:

I love the GPS, it's like the suction cup Garmins with a bigger screen. You can even interface it to a computer using the mini-usb plug on the back, just like the standalone garmin units. Using this connector you can swap out the voices, customize it etc. I have read where some people plug in a cable and leave it somewhere accessible so they can reach it easily without pulling it out of the dash. However, this is also where the GTM10 traffic receiver plugs in, so it diminishes the usefulness for me. Nonetheless, this isn't even an advertised feature, so I can't hardly fault them for not making it more convenient to use. The "official" method of updating maps and firmware is to use CD's / DVD's in the unit's drive, and this works well. One thing to note, however, if you receive a unit that has garmin firmware < 2.5, if you are upgrading to 2.5 you have to unplug the GTM10 traffic receiver or it will freeze up during upgrade. I thought I had bricked my unit, but found some hints online and managed to get the thing upgraded by temporarily unplugging the traffic receiver. Ironically, V2.5 actually fixes the problem where it hangs on firmware update when the traffic receiver is plugged in. I would highly recommend the GTM10 unit if you live in the coverage area. It's really cool to be able to have your gps take you home and route you around car wrecks and such. Also, it's easy to add custom POI's using a burned cd (or usb connector in the back).

The bluetooth: I like the way the bluetooth sounds (mic placement is key), it connects reliably. The whole hands-free-to-shift-and-steer-and-talk-yet-not-commit-vehicular-homicide feature is nice too. And it is kind of neat how well integrated it is with the phone. I see the battery strength, the signal strength etc up on my display. My blackberry 8830 (sprint) syncs fine, the phone book syncs fine, everything works the way it's supposed to. (If anyone is having issues with their bluetooth connecting to their blackberry etc, make sure you're on the latest firmware of both the deck and the bt unit itsself.) And now the bad: Voice dialing. My blackberry actually has very competent built-in voice dialing system. When I use my motorola earpiece, I can hit the button on it and say "dial so and so mobile" and it usually gets it right. However, the kenwood / parrot unit completely bypasses this functionality and replaces it with its own subpar system. Subpar is overly generous even. It's truly horrible, to the point where it's unusable. To voice dial, you have to: first record yourself saying the person's name. Then, after you have that person recorded as a voice dial preset, you have to hit the button for voice dialing, say the name, cross your fingers and hope it recognized what you said, then if all goes well it shows you the person's name, then you have to select the number, hit the button again to dial. It's far less accurate than my blackberry and I didn't even train it. It's easier just to use the 6 preset buttons they give you on the main screen . Less button presses overall, too bad they only give you 6. Still though, I like having my bluetooth integrated with my stereo, I like having the volume cut when I take a call automagically, I like not having to drive down the road wearing my earbud, or worse yet forget I have it in my ear and walk into the store and be "that guy".

Sirius: This interface is actually very nice. I will recommend that you switch to the 2 line display so that you can see the song info etc on the same screen with the presets. But this works great, very well integrated.

iPod interface: Poifect. One suggestion though: Make sure you leave the cable to where you can easily pull out the USB connector for use with thumb drives etc.

Sound: The unit sounds very good, much better than my factory deck (though that's not saying much). It even has a parametric EQ! That being said, it might be more usable if it had some low / mid / high knobs somewhere on the front (as someone else pointed out), but hey, if you're truly into tuning your sound, 3 band parametric EQ is nothing if not tunable. Not to mention complete overkill, but I digress... 99% of the population is going to look at "Q" and go "wuuuh?" Also it looks as though it has a built in xover, though I haven't dove into these features since I'm not using external amplification.
