Optima 75/35 OPTIMA 9022-091 REDTOP 12V 720 AMP

Optima 75/35 OPTIMA 9022-091 REDTOP 12V 720 AMPBattery was dead after about 10 months of service & I had to explained to the local dealer about the warranty & paid them $57.00 to get a replacement which makes this battery extremely expensive.

I've had 4 of these batteries in the last 2 1/2 years. They die on me every 3-6 months. These batteries are made to absolutely no standards. No heavy loads, they just up and stop working right. I've only had 4 because after I bought the first at Pep Boys, they've exchanged the successive bad ones.

We have a professional battery test machine at work. I tested battery 4 after receiving it and letting it charge and it was only putting out 85% of it's rated power. That's 15% lost just sitting on the shelf.

I'm about to go in for a 5th and I will not be putting it in my car. Instead, I'll be buying a DieHard Platinum from Sears.

I own two of these batteries. The older (5 years) was retired from its primary duty and still serves as an emergency power source during our frequent winter power outages. The newer (3 years) is the power source for the anchor windlass on our 34 ft. sailing catamaran. The 18 kg anchor is served by 100 ft of chain and 500 ft. of nylon line. The battery has never failed us.
