I have thoroughly enjoyed my RDV-1000. I have mine recording whenever I'm moving. I've been using VLC to watch the videos on my mac and my windows 7 computers with no problem. The unit's display comes set to Cantonese by default. It takes a little effort to set the preferences to US English. The RDV-1000 creates an .INI file on the SDHC card. (not included) Here is a copy of the settings file after I set my unit for US English and Central Time Zone.

One concern that I had is that the mini-usb connector on the camera is not usb. The manufactor is using it for 12 volts to power the camera. This might be a problem is the included cable where to be plugged into an other device. I think the USB specification is for 5 volts. 12 volts would be to much.
