Bravo View IH-05A – SINGLE SOURCE Automotive IR Wireless Headphones

Bravo View IH-05A – SINGLE SOURCE Automotive IR Wireless Headphones
  • Single Source Connectivity
  • Multi-level Adjustable Headband
  • Fold Flat Design for Seat Pocket Storage
  • Auto Mute & Auto Power Off
  • Mini-jack Audio Input for MP3 and iPod

I have a 2007 Subaru B9 Tribeca with the factory rear DVD system.

The Bravo View IH-05A headphones work flawlessly as a replacement set.

Build quality is great. Comfort is great, better than OEM. Sound quality is equal to or better than the factory phones. I just picked them up tonight so I don't have long term data.

The volume level matches exactly to the factory headphones and can be set too loud which is good to combat road noise. These are wrap around the ear more instead just lying flat.

I get ear lobe pain from the OEM phones after 1/2 hour. I don't think I will with these.

We picked up 2 sets!!!! Can't wait for the next road trip.

Purchased these elsewhere, after they were backordered for 6+ weeks from Amazon.

These were purchased to replace missing original headphones on a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban that we purchased used. The factory DVD player in the Suburban is a Panasonic brand. We purchased these for use by our children aged 7yrs and 5yrs primarily for use on 2+ hour trips so they could watch their movies and mom/dad could listen to the stereo or talk. We also occasionally use for 30-45+ minute trips around town. We have owned these now for 3 months we live in the southwest, where it's HOT!

These worked wonderfully straight out of the box. Battery usage is conservative, although it would have been nice to have an auto shut-off switch. The sound quality is really good sound connoisseurs may be disappointed, but it is decent enough to keep the kiddos entertained, and not bad for the adults either. There is no strange humming or annoying noises. Reception seemed pretty good, even sitting in the third row seat of our SUV. Quality and durability seems good. These headphones are always in the truck, and temps in the SW easily reach the 90's to 110's during the summer. These have held up beautifully in the heat. My son already stepped on one, and the plastic above one of the padded earphones broke. We were able to duct-tape it back together and it still works, although that side of the headphone cannot be swivelled any longer. The swivelling option is nice, but rather futile, since the headphones are somewhat bulky. Even if you have the earpad swiveled around to make them flat, they're too big to put in the seat-pockets in front of you. Mine usually end up on the floor.

Fit is comfortable for adults these have an oblong shape around the ear and seem to have a decent amount of padding.

For our children, however, these are very uncomfortable. The headphones are big, rather bulky, and somewhat heavy on their heads. The vinyl pad on the ears, actually makes their little ears hot, and they have stopped wearing them almost completely. My kiddos can still put-up-with the uncomfortable fit for shorter 30-45 minute rides, but it is too painful for them to wear on any trip lasting 1+ hours.

I have now ordered the SSL SHP Wireless Headphones by Soundstorm from Amazon. I am hoping for a better fit for my kiddos. I will keep these for the rare moment when we may have an adult sitting in the back with the kiddos. Check back for my review of the Soundstorm headphones. I am hoping for same good sound quality, reception and durability coupled with a leaner, more comfortable fit for my kiddos. Note: I wait 3-4 months+ before reviewing anything I have purchased.

UPDATE Nov, 2011

Wanted to update my review after purchasing the SSL SHP Wireless Headphones and comparing to these.

The Bravo headphones are by far a better quality earphone -both in sound, range and comfort. The Bravos also have a much better battery life than the SSL SHP's.

To help with comfort, I purchased the GPSCheap GPSC-REP02 Replacement Earpads for $6.95 here on Amazon.

These spongy earpads offered a more comfortable earpad for my kiddos than the vinyl earpads that come standard on these.
