Recomend proffesional installer or knowledge of electrical systems. took me 6 hrs for a very clean install myself...to me it was long and hard b/c of the vehicle but as noted not for the unexperienced.. I strongly recommend adding tilt sensor which is actually more important then impact. Incase your car or truck is getting towed lol.. Kit does come with a remote start bypass switch which can be good incase your partner keys hits the remote start but the 2 way notifies you if the switch is inhibting. Kit comes with very long wiring harness but do note some vehicles may need the imoblizer unit added to it... the range on the 2 way is not too bad meaning i was in the back of walmart and was able to still comunicate with the vehicle and check temp/start/ unlock/violate...your able to check the temp in the vehicle and add on window automation roll up as well..I bought this same unit in the store and should have bought it online. only down side is that it should of came with two 2way remotes since my partner and I argue over it.....the 2way remote is not bulky but made of decent plastic. 120 bucks for a highly above decent 2way alarm not bad... items to added imoblizer for remote start key coded auto* +++++tilt sensor* +++++battery back up* proximity *+++++++++ extra hood trigger or contact pin for gas lid on autos that dont have locking gas cap. b/c i'm always worried if someone jacks my car jacks my wheels jacks my gas and jacks me .. : o ) military ready alarm for a economical price. Onstar is good but doesnt check all... yet...Read Best Reviews of AVITAL 5303L Security/Remote Start System Here
Bought product with understanding that it had no warranty if I installed the unit. That's OK, most of these warranties are useless (I installed it wrong, dropped it, got it wet, etc.). All of you know what I mean. Again, I understand, but in this case I expected some support from the web site on the installation. WRONG on my part, they will only allow access to there web site if you are a registered installer. Can you believe that.To make the hookup in a newer vehicle you will need the service manual for your vehicle. I don't mean the one you get with the car but the manual with circuit diagrams, etc. I have it for my vehicle, which helped in the installation. I also went to the BullDog site and guess what if you enter your vehicle (year, model, etc.) they have a simplified chart showing what wires to connect with the color and location.
You would think DEI would have something like this on there site, maybe they do but you won't be able to access it.
My recommendation, if you have money to throw away buy it and let someone install it. If your like most of us, DO NOT BUY a DEI product. Buy one from some other manufacturer. It works but support does not exist.
I think any of the sellers of DEI products should put a warning in there description that the product is not supported by the manufacturer. This item was purchased thru Amazon, I don't blame Amazon or the seller, but be careful.

I am mechanically capable and did a lot of research before installing this product. I had to install it in stages due to my schedule and tested it along the way. After installing the keyless entry portion I tested it and worked well, tested the starter function and it worked well. After finishing up the install with my door triggers, shock sensor, alarm siren, etc I tested it and found that it got stuck sounding the alarm... I had tapped onto one wrong wire for the power of the control module. I took it to a local installer and he was able to find the problem and switch the wire. Check everything thoroughly! and definitely find a wiring guide online first.I really like all of the features included in this system (shock sensor, hood pin alarm trigger, 2-way lcd remote, programable features, + and door trigger wires, "pitstop" mode allows car to remain running for preset time without key for quick stops in a store) Overall it works well and I would do it again. Remote start in the cold midwest is really nice.
a few minor issues of: sometimes have to press the buttons multiple times for it to work (most problematic with non-lcd remote because I have to visually see the vehicle to know if command was received), range is not as good as claimed (approx. 500ft),
(for anyone who wants to DIY, it does have a lot of wires with no instructions only a diagram labeling each wire for the system and it does take a lot of time to install)The avital car alarm and remote start is a great product. not easy to install but it can be done if you dont want to pay a technician to do it. Comes with 2 controls just in case something happens to the other one. All in all I was very satisfied on the avital car alarm
