Update (24 hours later).
Ok, the streaming audio sound is still great. Then I tried making calls with it. First time I tried I called a place that had me on hold for 30 minutes. Then the operator comes on and guess what she can't hear me and hangs up! Arrgh! I call my buddy, he can't hear me. I unpair and repair the speaker with my phone and test the microphone quality on a voice mail. very very disappointing. it was crackly with sporadic drop out (though maybe that was my cell connection.). I compared the voice quality to the phone's speaker phone and to a new Blue Ant S4. The Blue Ant and phone quality were both very high. The BTS200 voice quality, not really acceptable--might as well use your phone's speakerphone.
So... two of the products three functions work very well. I may keep it on that basis--for listening to music and the portable battery system. If you're going to use this for music and don't want to use its speakerphone function you can disable that through your phone and just use it for audio. I tried using the BTS200 for music and the Blue Ant for phone. When I called the phone with music playing it shut off the music to the BTS200 and put the call through to the Blue Ant (but you could have it stay on the phone).
Conclusion--this is a great sounding portable speaker system for your phone. Or you can pull the battery out and use it for charging other devices. But relying on this product for good blue tooth phone quality (microphone) would be a mistake. There are other devices out there that do the phone and music both very well, but they cost a lot more.
Hope this helps.I purchased this speakerphone directly from Uniden. Got it home and connected it up so that I could listen to my training and education courses at home using this rather than needing earbuds. Connecting it to my phone was easy and the only trick was to turn the speakerphone completely off and back on once it is linked with your cellphone. I am hard of hearing and the use of most earbuds requires that I remove my hearing aids.
First, the sound quality, both volume and reproduction are surprisingly good. I can listen to music on the speaker and it sounds great. Even the bass (on such a small unit). The speakerphone's functionality is good also. No complaints.
However, the use of the speakerphone for speaking is a problem. You must be within 20" of the phone and speaking directly into it for the other side to hear you. This is unfortunate. I think that I'm generous giving it 3 stars.
I'm keeping the phone for my original intent but I think that Uniden could have done better. Considering it is advertised as a bluetooth speakerphone. While its nice, and very easy to connect. The person on the other line states that sound quality is poor. If there is external noise, like a fan running, the sound quality is affected.
The quility that I hear is very good though.. Nice for music.I was so happy with the first speaker, I bought a second. I use one plugged in via wire to my computer at work and a second on our deck for when Im reading and want to listen to music. The sound is loud and rich from a really small package. An unusually large base speaker covers the bottom. This does cause it to jump around a bit if the volume is turned up on a "Thumpy" song. Still a great little speaker. We also use it for watching netflix on our ipad while camping!Worked fine for 5 days. Then stopped. Resets and tech help did nOt restore . Uniden no longer supports this model. I returned mine.
