That is a very important feature! The ones with a pull-apart lead do just that... pull apart. Get this one and demand they keep making and selling this one. This one works the best.

Most storage facilities will not permit a battery maintainer to be plugged in to their power grid. I was looking everywhere for this memory saver because I needed to change the battery in my bmw x3.. I finally found it on Amazon. Installed it in the cigarette lighter and changed my battery. I had to purchase a 9 volt battery separately. It worked. I didn't loose my radio and only had to reset my clock in my car. A week after I installed my battery, I was in the automotive dept of Walmart and lo and behold there was a memory minder with the battery included for five dollars. Much less than what I paid for thru Amazon.

Unless I used the product incorrectly, the product did not function as described and I lost radio settings when battery was disconnected.
