Bought these to indicate the battery voltage on a robot. The robot is 12/24V with two 12V batteries. At first I was planning on having one across the 12V supply and one across the 24V, but after bench testing one of these I found that it will start to melt when used at 24V.

The reason for this is that it has a large power resistor inside that gives off a large amount of heat. I noticed a burning plastic smell and when I looked at it the casing had started to bubble a bit. Using them both at 12V now and everything is fine.
